misstreatment
My name is Sherein Mansour, I started working for ROss Dress For Less at 05/02/2010.
My manager 's name is Pam, she has been treating me very cruely, she didn't even answer my good morning.I was supposed to get trained, no body trained me, just step by step when i ask about something, I have been working for more than 3 weeks ..no body told me there's anything called "start sheet" or "break sheet"
then one day she asked me did you sign your start & break sheets, so I didn't know what she's talking about, I told her nobody told me, she answered infront of everybody in a meeting "I don't believe you".I said really no one told me " & again she said I don't believe you .So I asked her to ask all the people ..most of them was in this meeting ...and no one said nothing...It really hurts me that when she even knew the truth she didn't appologize of accusing me of lying infront of everybody. The next day (which is today 05/25/2010) she told me check this lady's driver license to make sure she's above 55years old for the senior discount on tuesday. In the morning i asked aother manager about the age we should consider people seniors to give them the discount...she told me 50 years. So when Pam told me 55! it crossed my mind that I was told something different so i told her "the other manager told me it's 50" I told her this so that they can work it out & tell which one to follow ...so instead of acting positively she said " I don't believe you"...so simple too accuse me of lying ...hurting me ...just because she doesn't wana do the right thing.
simply..
1- didn't assign anyone to train me on anything ...just told me I have to ask.
2- didn't make sure what I knew or not because there's no one responsible for giving me the information.
3- Blaming for things I don't know & doesn't blame the others for not telling what I have to do.
4- Anything I tell her, she just said so simply "I don't believe you". without making any effort to know the truth.
5- when she finds out I'm saying the truth...she doesn't appologize or show any regret, instead she tries to pick up anything on me.6- threateneing me, instead of telling me you have a certain time to finish this project, she just don't give me a certain time, she just said if you don't finish very quickly I'll let you clock out & leave.
6-Doesn't say hello or good morning when she sees me, When I tell her good morning, she doesn't reply back.
I resigned beacause of her way of treating me which I think because of my racism or because I am pregnant. I lost my job because of her mentally abusing me & I want to have a compensation for I was made to leave cause I couldn't bear being treated so unfairly & abused by words or I am gona have to get my rights by law through filing a case against Ross Dress For Less company.
Thanks
Sherein Mansour

rude cashier
I had the misfortune of visiting your Smyrna location in GA and meeting your rude cashier Iris this morning. There was one person in front of us that was finishing payment but the cashier Iris told my wife and I "ya'll need to move over there" pointing to the waiting line which was set up in case there are long lines. Iris had the nastiest look on her face I have ever seen when she made this statement. The tone with which she said this was as if my wife and I were her dogs. When she finished ringing up the customer in front of us only a few seconds later, she waived us over to her register. Again, this is a very rude way to communicate with customers. When I asked her why she is so rude, she responded "I wasn't being rude at all" at which point your "loss prevention" guy stepped behind the counter with the purpose to intimidate us into being quiet. This is all very disturbing behavior...
My wife shops at your Hiram, GA location regularly where they have always been courteous but after this incident I can assure you she will never step another foot into any of your locations. You really should ensure you hire more appreciative and courteous employees at your Smyrna location. It's disgusting the way we were treated...

you have to understand we are busy people. its not out fault! we get hundreds of customers a day. its hard to keep up. if you dont like the service then suck it up. go somewhere else. we try our best.
Sounds like you're over reacting. There is a waiting area for a reason. Stay there.
She also couldn't "waive" you over, /wave/ perhaps. Would you have prefered her to scream "YO! It's your turn!" ? It's SOP to motion for the next guest, you then approaching her with an attitude "Why are you so rude?" bs is indeed YOU being the rude one.
I'm guessing you were either having a bad day and thus taking it out on the poor cashier or you were having your male PMS time, either way, stop being a drama queen, breathe, carry on.
rude employees and irresponsible dress room employees
On sunday I went to Ross with two dresses and receipts inside the Ross plastic bag for return. As I entered, there was a super long line. So I decided that I don't wan to stand in line once for the return and then another time if I decided to buy something. I saw some dresses that I would like to try on. I went to the dressing room and the rude fat woman...

bad store employees
I went to return some items I bought from previous week. Cashier accused me of returning worn items. I have not worn it and it was returned in the condition that was bought. They basically called me a liar and refused to do the return. At this point, I don't care about returning the clothes and I'm for sure not a returning customer at that store. Ross need to do a better job at hiring friendly, customer oriented employees. They also need to reassess their workforce and see who it fitted to represent the store. Else, they risk losing loyal or new customers. I walked away unsatisfied and will not recommend the store to anyone.

I went to Ross in Kingsport tennessee yesterday and when trying to check out the other cashier in the customer serv box was not doinh anything. She finally turned around and waived at a woman she knew and told her to come over there and she would get her. Well assuming on my part she was going to help assist the rest of us I went to Ms. Marshalls line only to be told "i will not check you out you can go back to the other line" Ok i tossed a shirt on the counter which was five feet from her. She then accused me of trying to hit her, lol. I advised her that was not so and If that were my intentions I was not that bad of a shot. She then told me we would take it outside. CAn you all believe this? I told her ok come on I was not gonna put up with her [censor]. She wouldnt come out from behind the counter. She threantened me! The manager heard her and came up front when she was yelling at me. After telling the manager she lied and said that she did not say that. Everyone in the store heard the woman and really got mad because she was lieing and the other cusotmers told her she was a liar. I called the Dist. Manager Tim White, well he is as big a joke as she was because he lied to me, said he reviewed the tapes and he had not he was out of town! Wow this must be the requirement for a job there you have to be a liar. As with anything not everyone wil agreee with anything. Mr white never called me back i had to call his sorry [censored] back. Then he takes up for the beligerent, uneducated, rude and obnoxious employee he has ! Wow I have to keep reminding my self and this is America, huh, right) I did not do anything to deserve this and am intending on filing a lawsuit this is ridiculous. I go to a store to shop and am threatened by a store employee? The worst part is that the district manager is just as sorry as she is! He had not even seen the tapes and he was out of town so how could he have seen them but he said he did. I adivsed him there was no way he had seen those tapes and to stop his lieing. he did not disagree with this. I will never ever spend a dime there again! not ever! I will tell everyone just what Ross is all about!
Everyone has either had good experiences with employees at Ross at all locations. However, just because someone has had a good experience doesn't mean that goes on at all of their stores.
I had a bad experience where I purchase 14kt gold earrings at Ross in Hilo, Hawaii and they broke. 14kt gold earrings shouldn't break no matter how many times they are put on - taken off (as I later found out when I called jewellery stores with much better reputations, but much higher prices--I wanted to know if 14kt gold earrings were that soft). So, I took the earrings back with receipt and tags only a couple of days after I purchased them. I was told that I had them longer than I did-I had the receipt!-and then I was told that I switched them. I have read several other complaints and positive reviews of Ross from around the country just to find out if I was just one who had a bad experience. Well, many people from different parts of the country seem to have had the same experience when returning items with all the tags and receipts (the ones who took time to write a complaint online).
I won't shop at any Ross Dress for Less no matter the convinence. Before that experience I was a frequent shopper. Now I'll save my money alot longer for better quality jewellery from a store that means customer service and satisfaction.
dressing rooms, not enough big rooms!
I am writing in complaint to the dressing rooms not having enough space for those of us who have strollers or anyone with a handicap, specifically the Ross store in Jacksonville NC, and how the situation was handled by the manager. Everytime I want to go try something on, I have to wait outside the large dressing room (which they have only ONE of, and then...

I work for RDL in So Calif. Same here. They are systematically getting rid of tenured and higher paid employees. Then when you go to unemployment hearings (they always deny claims) they have all the nit pikey evidence with no real merit and the EDD agrees, with them!. Yes they missed a highlight and 1 initial. The EDD is the 1% lapdog. The 99% is lost. Any Class Action Lawsuits out there post the on the WEB. Ross Dress for Less NEEDS A UNION! If there is any UNIONs out there, HELP!
unbagged merchandise
I used to "adore" shopping at ross for great deals on brand names, but that notion has since been tainted. I live nearly 2 hours away from the Ross in Panama city (so when I travel to this location I try to "get everything" ). Needless to say I purchased "everything" I desired but the cashier forgot to bag my jewelry (which I paid for) but somewhere in between her jibber-jabber and recklessness (she forgot to put my jewelry in the bag). Unfortunately I didn't realize this until I was 2 hours away and settled in my home. I immediately called Ross to relay what happened and they informed me that I would have to come back down there (albeit I suggested that they mail it to me as it was there fault) but much to my surprise the manager had a "fit" and refused my suggestions.
Honestly, what are department stores coming to when the customer has to pay for the mistake of a careless employee. ERGH!
Never again!... I will shop at t.j. maxx from now on

Also understand that the "dressing room" associate is not just responsible for the fitting room itself. The associate was correct in saying that you could not take the bag back into the fitting room. However, keep in mind that fitting room associates are also responsible for maintaining intimate apparel, lingerie and infant apparel. On days that are slow, fitting room associates aren't always standing in the foyer and are usually found picking up after customers. On busy days, so many people come and go that we rarely have time to pay attention to one bag or cart. And if it was busy, we don't always remember who's bag belongs to who, and we can accidentally hand you the wrong one. Also, associates are not "out to get you" nor will they swap your merchandise just to "get back at you."
Keep in mind as well that there is technically nothing that anyone could do if your bag did get stolen. Once the bag is gone, there is no way to prove that it ever existed in the first place. Without proof or you having the bag there in front of us, company policy will not allow us to do anything. I'm honestly a little surprised you think that we would be able to compensate you for something without proof. I'm not saying you're lying, but again, corporations are paranoid and won't allow us to do anything without the items and receipt there in front of us.
I work at Ross. You have to understand that we are extreamly busy. You should check your bags instead of complaining. Suck it up lady.
Customer Service will gladly hold any return items you may have if you would like to look around. We have never had a return item lost at my Ross store for the entire time I've been there. And most employees are not "out to get you." Ross is not a department store, they are a discount store, and the reason prices are so cheap is because of the way they run things.

Hello. It would be most helpful if you would provide a website of the complaint or email of the attorney so managers that want to participate can do so confidentially. I know several managers that would welcome being a part of this class action lawsuit. Thanks.

The percentage for what they call a PIP is 92%/ That means the they fire 92% of people on PIP. How can you call this a performance improvment plan. What a joke. This company will continue to get lawsuites in all areas, Age discrimination, labor violations, ETC. AS long as they keep the same people in Corp. They just promoted three exc, and one VP. They are making the Store Managers cut payroll and cut hours for employees and they do this. They are as bad as banks/AIG.

back in the begining of the year the manager had a miscarriage i found out a couple weeks later that i was pregnant and its not like i tried it. but anyways she started having it out for me. she would tell me to lift this and lift that, i would do it in the begining because i didnt know that even though so early on you still had restrictions then when i found out and started saying no, she would cut my hours for a couple weeks. so i contacted unemployment to get partial unemployment and they raised my hours. wel wheni i got denied they cut my hours again. but this time it was bad. from when i started i was meking 300.00 n at the time of my hours getting cut i was bringing home 50.00. so then i had a misscarriage and got some of my hours back. so ignorant. well then she got pregnant again. and started being ok again. then i got my ours cut again because they keep hiring people as much as rats multiply. its rediculous. my hours got cut again and it lasted a good 6 months so i called unemployment again and they said if i make anything over 98 dollars i can not collect. well the manger gave me enough hours to were i would be bringing home exactly 98.41. shes so flippn ignorant. its deffinatelynot paying any of my bills nor putting food in my house. ive been on the prowl for another job. ok well about 5 months ago we got this new dress code were we need to were blue shirts. well i bought a blue shirt. and ive been wearing since blue shirts took effect. last week the manager came up to me on monday and said you eed to buy a different blue shirt because thats teal. i dissagreed and so did many other people. they all said it was blue and not teal. i said i wont have the money untill this weekend and she said well you need to find one tomm. while your doing markdowns. well i came in the next day went to login and she logeed me out ant told me to go home that i needed to go buy a shirt i said what do you mean you told me i ould find one while i work today and she got quit and she finally said you need to go home. well i went and bought a shirt got there a halfhour after scheduled time and had the supervisor over ride me to log in. an hour and a half later the manager saw me and said i deleted your hours because i thought you came in clocked in and left i was like wtf i cant log in with out an over ride. well wen i got my check it shows she only payed me for a portion of the day not even the whole time i worked. well then the next monday i came in and she told me you cant wear that sweatshirt because it aint blue. i said hold up first why didnt you saysomething last week when you complained about my shirt and second there are others who wear other color sweatshirts and you dont say nothing to them. i said you can do and say what you please but dont think you can make me quit. (thats how they do it they piss you off so you quit and so you cant collect uneployment, and your not there long enough to get you 10 cent raise... oooohhhh big whoop) and she had nothing to say then like a couple minuets later she said if you dont have a diff sweatshirt by tomm. dont even show up. but then she would mark me as a no call no show. then she hired a russian that has supposidly lived in the uited states for two years but cant spek english, and she made employee of the month when she was there for only a month and so many people had complaints. but she russion just like the manager. and there is another person who comes in drunk customers complain, we tell the manager and she says oh i thought it was her perfume. and its happend a number of times. but they wont fire her because she kisses ###. i shouldnt have to kiss ### to have a job n not get harrased. i dont know its bull crap and i dont know what to do. but i need answers and noone i talk to can give me answers they just keep giving me more numbers to call. if anyone can help me out please contact me at my email. . . . . . The company's stock is not sinking and the "fat cats" do not get any money from the company other than what they earn or from the shares of stocks they own. If you had a problem with your manager, you should have taken the situation up with your district manager or HR specialist. It seems to me that you have more problems than your blue shirt. Take a moment a re read what you wrote. It is almost child like and without thought. It is also not the associate of the months fault that she won the award or that she has more hours. She is doing what she is told. It sounds to me like you may have a better chance if you did the same thing. Try bringing a doctors note next time so you have some documentation to fall back on.
File with the EEOC.

Definitely sounds like Identity theft. Keep working with your financial institutions and if necessary get some legal advice.
sounds like someone stole your idenity or credit card information. all you can do is work with your bank and cancel your credit card, start over... i had lost a thousand dollars one time, i live in florida and someone in maine cashed a check against my account. all i could do is work with the bank to prove that something was wrong.
hope everything works out for you, but it is not the store's fault.

I hope they will lose big time. I gave all my best for 20 years of service for this company and during my 15 years in the management position i have meet all the numbers needed or shall we say all requirements needed for their huge bonuses yearly.
They hired a new Market Manager who got promoted as DM for only 6 months of the company just because he is a friend of the DM who got promoted to Zone DM for less than 1 1/2 year who's also friend of the VP. These DM's didn't like me so they used PIP to get rid of me. All the hard worked done for this company went to trash . HR was also new (4 months) and was not aware of my 20 years of service when he came for my last day.

What's going on with Ross, I liked Ross years ago when I worked there. I do not like what I am seeing all these complaints. Ross I know you can get through this. I think you hired some anal people like Steve Coburn. But Im sure you will clean house. You still have time.
bathrooms
I went into this Ross with my wife and was told by her that when she went into the bathroom, not only was it filthy but only one of the three toilets were working. We went backtwo times after that and the toilets had not been fixed even though my wife complained to the store manager after the second visit. She was told by an employee that that when she complaind of non-working toilets to go to the Mcdonalds on her break and use theirs. That was enough for me. The next day I called the county Healt Department and lodged a complaint. Two days later, the toilets were fixed.
I will not return to this store to shop even though we like their prices. The manager was rude and when I could find him in the building instead of outside smoking cigarettes, he just blew me off. I think its time corporate took a look at how this store is being run and who is taking care of their dollars.
My Kudos to one Andrea Temple for her likable smile and expertise at the checkout. I would hope other employees at this store have the same zeal as she does dispite not being able to use her own bathroons...

Ross thinks that all they need is a morning crew to clean up the bathrooms then if the customers find it nasty, then I guess their attitude is "oh well". No, they need to have the same cleaning crew or different people of the same company come in sometime in the afternoon and clean. That is so embarrassing hearing customers complaints. I'm embarrassed to work at Ross.
The one thing at this point I would agree with is that the bathroom at the Ross location I work at smells really bad. It has a very strong pissy smell and it I can still smell it when I get home because it stays in my sinus'. All it needs is a bleach solution around the toilets where people pee on the floor. I was in a stall one day, and I heard a customer walk in and say "PU!" this place stinks! she started to gag. I would even be willing to get the mop and clean it if they'd allow me to. I've only worked there for 2 weeks so far, and I can already tell that although their system of organization is a well planned out one, they need at least 2 employees to do nothing on their shift but organize the mess on the shelves, pick up merchandise off the floor, and organize again so that it stays that way all day and evening up until closing! Its way too much for the employees to keep up with their assignments and work so hard and fast all day, and then stay over to do clean up an entire days worth of helter skelter! Its unreasonable, unfair, and immoral to put that on people that are loyal and comitted to their job and employer. There should be some balance, some give and take of respect and consideration. It would show more respect tward customers that would enjoy shoppping there more if they could see more eye candy, and less mess! I wnat to stay on, learn more, and care about my job there, but I already have negative feelings about the way they use up their employees and cut corners by not hiring enough workers for specific duties. Also, there should be one buddie & trainned employee to teach every area of work including the register to new employees. Not just rambel off a few words of do this & do that & this this way, and that way, and OMG! they walk away and its like GOOD LUCK! then they come back and tell you, "Oh that is not the way to do that, and so forth and so on. Good greif!

Wrongful termination
I was a Store Manager for Ross Dress for Less, Store 872 in Ormond Beach, Florida. I was wrongfully terminated Wednesday, October 7, 2009 after working for Ross for almost 6 years. When I was down in Lompoc, Ca I bought some clothing at Ross's and after getting back home which is in Northern Ca. I noticed the zipper on the jeans were broke and one of the tops was in the wrong size. Also, one of the blouses I bought shredded all through out the material. It must of been very old material or been baking in the sun to end up the way it did after one washing on the delicate cycle! So I take all three items with the receipts & price tags to the San Leandro Store to return or exchanged them and what an awful experience I had! The sale girl looked at the first shirt and said, no she yelled at me saying NOd WAY THIS IS DIRTY, she kept repeating it and pointing to it and said no return for that one. I bought it the way it was, I had not worn it because it was to small but she wouldn't listen to me. When I took out the blouse that look shredded she again yells at me that she will not return it because I washed it. I told her that is what happened when I washed it and it was a defective to begin with but she said No, NO, NO she is not going to return it. It was embarrassing how she was acting towards me. So when I hand her the pants she immediately yells no way and started arguing with me and then just threw everything back at me saying she will not return anything and if I have a problem go she the manager. I am steaming at this point and go over to the asst. manager and started to explain what just happened when the other sale girl comes up behind me shouting that it was dirty and on and on. Everyone in the store was watching this loud mouth and it was really a very bad upsetting experience. But to make matters worse the asst. manager said she was not going to return anything either. Her reason was my receipts were to old but they are not even 30 days yet. Her name is Danielle and she thought it was funny that she was not going to give me a refund/exchange. Both these girls need to be trained on how to treat a customer, it is hard to believe that one is an asst. Manager the way she handled the situation. Before I left the store I requested her managers name and a number so I can contact him to get this resolved in an appropriate manner. His name is Mike Zuber and I hope that he knows what the meaning of customer service is and hopefully if he does he will train the other 2 very challenged and unskilled employees! I will never shop there again and with the way they seem to careless about their customers will show when they go bankrupt in this volatile economy! Karma Baby!

You all need to remember there are AMAZING employees out there.. you just have to look hard enough, all the people in my store are awesome. And there are TERRIBLE customers that make it hard to get through each day. If youve never worked retail you'll have no idea what I mean. And I'm sure none of them really care because theyre only getting paid 7.25 an hour. Youde be mad too.
My incident happen in the San Jose, California located on Curtner in Willow Glen area.
On sunday I went to Ross with two dresses and receipts inside the Ross plastic bag for return. As I entered, there was a super long line. So I decided that I don't wan to stand in line once for the return and then another time if I decided to buy something. I saw some dresses that I would like to try on. I went to the dressing room and the rude fat woman (between 20's to early 30's) told me I cannot bring my bag into the dressing room. I told her she need to make sure no one touches my stuff and she said okay. But I can tell that look on her face that she didn't like what I just said to her.
As I came out, she was no where to be found and there was only one bag there, so I assumed it is mine cuz there is no other bag outside of the dress room. I ended up not buying anyting and decided to return my two dresses during the weekdays since it is always quiet and no line. I am a stay home mom. Today, I decided to go and return my dresses and I opened up the bag which was tied in a knot. I was shocked to find out that the items inside the bag wasn't mind. There was a pair of children jeans size 14 with brand name tag but no Ross tag and a super huge polyster cheap pair of short with a ross mark down tage of $5. My gutt feeling is someone must heard what I told the dress room lady that it is two really nice dresses and she must look after it cuz I don't want anyone stealing them.
My worst fear happened on sunday. Someone stole my bag and walked out of the store since there is no sensor on them. Or my other hutch is the store dress room employee got pissed off at me and switched the items to get back at me.
I called to the store today and no one seem to care enough to help me. They told me that the store manager isn't there. I guess I have to take that big lost and return the polyester shorts for $5 store credit since it is not my item and I don't have the receipt to it.
This happen like around 2 p.m. at Ross. If you are corporate, you should make your employees are accountable for things like this cuz if it happen too many times, you will lose your good customers and attract only the bad customers. Deep in my heart is that I stil think that the Ross Employee switched my stuff to get even with me. I spend hundreds of dollars at Ross already. You wouldn't want all your customers to go to Marshall and TJMAXX. They carry identical products for similar prices. I am just a loyal customer and only putting up this complaint so higher mangement know about these kinds of issues at Ross.
If some Target can help friendly and polite employees, you can too do that!
Man I definitley know the Ross employees in the Bay Area are rude ### motha###as! They are ungreatful of their job & take it out on the innocent customers.

I went to Ross Store at Gaithersburg, MD today. After shopping my clothing and went to check out. There were not many cutomers waiting to check out and 3 counters were opened at that time. So, I went to the line with fewer people waiting. After the person in fornt of me finished his payment, I was ready to put the clothes on the check out table. Then, I wa...

I saved $85.00 at Ross yesterday. Or should I say, they lost out on $85.00 of revenue. As I approached the registers, I saw that 11 other people stood in line with only 1 register in use.
When one of the customers asked if any other registers were opening, the response was that the other person was on break.
Ten minutes later, another employee approached the register, walked around for 5 minutes, fiddled with the register for another 5 minutes...I left as did 2 other people in line.

As much as I agree that Ross is understaffed ( I work at one, I should know), you can't generalize a single incident. Yes, it is very busy at times, especially when people are switching registers, right before holidays, etc. But there is an effort put forth to keep lines under 3 customers at all times. I can tell you from experience that being on your register if needed is your number one priority at all times. Nonetheless, people need to take breaks and not EVERY employee is assigned or trained on a register. Just because you see someone walking around, it doesn't mean they are purposefully ignoring the situation. It just may be that they are a stockroom associate, or someone on their break, or processing gobacks, etc.
rude manager
i went into the ross store to purchase a pair of shoes. once at the front of the store to be checked out i seen that the line was long and there was only one line open. i over heard the manager calling someone else up to open another register so i moved over so i could go ahead and be checked out. well the manager seen this and instead of allowing me to be checked out he sunt thegirl away and opened a different register and called the next two people in line to be waited on when they were next and took them in front of me. i stood there in awww . he looked at me and said that he was trying to move me up in line but i choose to stay in the back. my response to him was that i was just trying to figure out why would he take them when they were next in line nd he could have just taken the lady in front of me and me . he ten makes a statement to the mexican people nd say it is always my black sister nd brothers who act ugly. my response to him is that he hasn't seen ugly yet. i got so mad with him that i left without purchaseing my shoes. i feel something needs to be done for those racil comments.

always the race card
From what I understand, you didn't want to wait in line and tried to get in front of the other people that had been waiting? Get over it. It's common practice to take the next customer in line, who's been waiting, instead of the customer that just walks up.
extremely rude and careless associates and managers
I live in Bossier where there is a Ross store but I work in Shreveport where there is also a Ross store. One morning I decided to stop by the near by Ross in Bossier City to see what kind of product they had. It was pretty slim pickings, which is expected since it's much smaller and newer than the Shreveport store. However, I managed to find two pairs of shoes that I wanted to take home and try on with my clothes at home to see what outfits I could possibly put together. I knew I would be returning one of the shoes, because as much as I would have liked to keep them both, I am a college student who shouldn't be spending $50 on shoes. I'm sure someone out there can agree with me. Anyways so after that I headed into Shreveport to visit the bookstore where I planned on studying for a bit. Along the way I stopped at the Shreveport Ross to see if they had a better selection than the Bossier store. Well, they did, of course, so I ended up exchanging the two pairs of shoes that I had bought previously for a different pair of shoes, and a $20 jacket. After that I continued on to the book store where I studied, at most, 3 hours. As I headed home, I caught a case of buyers remorse and decided to swing by the Bossier store again to return the jacket I purchased at the Shreveport store. I was planned on keeping the shoes because they were only $17. When I walked in with a return I was immediately scorned by the cashiers with their dirty looks and snooty attitudes. I placed the Ross bag containing the jacket on the counter and apologized to them for returning as I am an assistant manager at my own clothing store and I know how it can hurt your daily numbers when merchandise is returned. Considering the jacket was only $20, however, I figured it wouldn't hurt them too bad. The associate jerked the jacket out of the bag without as much as a word and then tossed it down in disgust claiming she couldn't take it back because it didn't have a tag. In my horror I looked down to see that the jacket did in fact NOT have a tag. Well, let’s see. I bought it, tossed it in my backseat, went to the book store, then 3 hours later I cam here. The time on the receipt clearly stated that at least. I was confused. I explained to the cashier that it had a tag when I bought it, and that that was only 3 hours ago . I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the tag went, but I surely had nothing to do with its removal. She then proceeded to tell me that the jacket looked washed and worn as well. WHAT?!?!? Did I mention it was a vintage pleather jacket? Now you tell me how I bought, worn, and washed a pleather jacket in 3 hours. Geez lady have some common since. After explaining my case and still getting nowhere I asked for the manager. I told her my story, and without even a reply, she turned to the associate and said, “Just return it. I’m gonna throw it away anyways." WOW! Great client service! Ok, whatever so they decided to return it. But wait. After handing the associate both receipts to show her that I had done the previous purchase that morning and then the exchange for the jacket, she was more than confused. Without a word she walked off taking both receipts with her. I stood there and waiting assuming she was consulting the manager again about the return. 15 minutes later the manager returned. She handed me the receipt and she couldn't return it and that I would have to go to the Shreveport store. Then she walked off. No apology or anything. I didn't even get the bag back! I had to carry the jacket out in my hands. So I headed back to the Shreveport store, where luckily the girl that rang me up that afternoon was there. She vouched for the fact that I just bought the jacket earlier that day and that it looked exactly the same as it did when I bought it. They returned the jacket for me, which I was glad, but, when I asked the manger if I could have the number to call for complaints, she gave me some guy's personal phone number who didn't answer, or call me back for that matter. I had to research online to even get the "complaints" number, which ended up being a dead end, as well, because it was out of service. I won't be back to Ross.

dude WTF you can return, its clothes, you have a receipt, its just like any other clothing store, you return things, if there was a problem with the thing you bought, then return it, there shouldnt be any excuses, ive never heard of some ###, you cant return things without the price tag complete ###, the receipt is there to show proof of purchase and ###, they just dont want you to return it and expecting some mindless customer gonna take off the tag and expecting them to throw it, NOOO ### RETURN THE THING OR SUE THERE ###'S.
My incident happen in San Jose, Ca Curtner location of Willow Glen.
I guess I have to take that big lost and return the polyester shorts for $5 store credit since it is not my item and I don't have the receipt to it.

i worked at the bossier store up until september. what did the associate look like that gave you a hard time?
I agree with the customer. You can return anything at Ross even if there wasn't any price tags on it. They usually say that whenever they get "suspicious" about the customers. Actually when I was working in the service desk, I accepted the old returns even though they bought the items years ago. They're usually markdown to a $0.49 price. Remember the customers are always right.
I work at Ross. We cannot return clothes without tags no matter where you bought it or when. Don't blame the employees call and complain often, because quite frankly I hate being yelled at when I can't return something for someone. So when you complain you help us out, if they listen to you. Now about the employee, I won't make excuses for her but, I have been in that position when after standing on my feet for 6 hours, I keep having customers who don't read the return policy trying to return stuff they bought six months ago, or stuff that they wore and are returning. I think you just were caught in that sixth our, when she is just tired. She's human and has emotions too.

I work at a Ross in Memphis my manager is the same way its no way to get around her because she is friends with the dm. At Ross managers believe they can treat you anyway they can because they hold your job in their hands. The best thing for you to do is contact hr and dept of labor.
Apparently the training part is what I agree with the most. I had to rely on other employees to help me train on some basic and advanced steps of being on the register. I don't think any Ross management staff members like their job and they don't do it, but that's why they get paid a lot more than we do.
Leaving was the best thing you could do. Try filing for discrimination if you think it'll do any good. Talk to a lawyer first of course.
