Water Heater
We move into our home in June of 2019 in San Antonio. We had a home warranty plan when we moved in. We changed to Select Home Warranty in Jun of 2020 and have been with them since. Our water heater just starting not working and I filed a claim on it on Oct 21. A plumber can out on the 22nd and from the information he turned in our claim had been rejected because of lack of maintenance. I called Select Warranty on the 25th and sent this reply.
"Dear Sirs
I respectfully disagree with your decision. In looking at section 9.1.2. We have only been in the house for only 2 years and 4 month. It is within the 3 years record keeping period. We have no idea of what was done in the way of service to the water heater. We didn't even know how old it was or if it was a replacement. We were under the opinion it was new. We found it was manufactured in 2006 and our how was built in 2008. It could have been put in then or put in later. We do not know and anything else would have been speculation. Also we can see that it have never repaired because the plumbing is the same a neighbors. The water lines are galvanized pipes coming out of the wall to copper or brass tubing going to Galvanized or steel fitting coming out of the Water heater. After the 2 years and 4 months we have been here we have not had a reason to have it serviced until it started acting up. 9.1.1. mentions 3 years maintenance records. We haven't been here three years. There was proper installation, maybe not the prettiest. There had been no repairs and it would be speculation if there had been. We had no records for the pervious owners so we had no control over that. It looked like a new water heater so we saw no reason for a service. It was heating fantastic until jut recently. We did not fail to properly maintain. We did not fail to properly clean and the system was not modified. Our neighbors is set up just like ours. So please honor the warranty.

Home warranty policy
I was looking for a home warranty policy to replace an existing one that was scheduled to expire. I found SHW and reached out to an agent. The agent answered my questions, walked me through the policy, and confirmed that I had 30 days to cancel the policy and receive a full refund.
Within a few days, I reached out to SHW to get some information about coverage. Even though they won't send a draft of the policy before payment - this seems to be a standard with other warranty companies as well - I walked with the agent through the policy and he assured me everything we had discussed would be in the policy. Since the policy I received via email had typos and missing information, I wanted to make sure the policy was corrected, so I reached out to the agent via email. No response. I called the customer care line and spoke to another agent about the issue. He didn't correct the policy. I asked for the policy to be cancelled. Since I was approximately one week into the policy, I knew I was within the 30-day grace period. However, after speaking with numerous people at this organization, no one seemed to have the authority to cancel the policy. Months after I asked for the policy to be cancelled over the phone and via email, this company is still trying to withdraw money from my account. I received another text message this morning requesting payment. They are horrible and need to be investigated.
Desired outcome: Investigate the practices of this company and hold them accountable; make them stop spamming me.
Select home warranty is a fraud
I've had an on going issue with air conditioner since July The first technician they sent didn't shell and didn't call to say was not coming when I asked for a different technician to come out they didn't have any and they said but I needed to find my own which I did the technician found that the compressor was bad and recommended changing the entire condenser that just the compressor would fail again they chose to replace compressor with remanufactured one which Failed within weeks they don't cover cost of labor to replace I'm out $600 now they say they will only pay $150 to settle the claim And I refusing to even pay for the cost of the compressor which they sent
Fraudulant and False Information to Customer
They lied from the get-go! I spoke to Henry on 7/6/21, purchased this bogus warranty and they charged me $499.95. Henry told me everything was covered. It states so on the Coverage Plan Platinum Care form I have in my possession. I was told it would go into affect 30 days after purchased and I could cancel (free of charge) at any point if unsatisfied. They also mentioned they have 24-48hrs turn-around time (ANOTHER LIE!). When I called them on 9/1/21 (spoke to JR at 11:30am ET)... he tells me that the ice maker on refrigerator is not included... the dishwasher (depending on the problem) is not included and oh by the way the heater is not included either and there is a service charge of $75 for someone to just come out and look?! Are you kidding me! I received C/N's for all three items I wanted them to look at per JR... [protected] / [protected] / [protected]. Obviously I cancelled and and had my husband make another call to see if they would lie to him (just like they did me). Well.. sure enough.. Xavier was on the phone on 9/2/21 and same thing.. "everything is covered".. in which my husband than said.. what does "everything" mean... and Xavier says... "everything that goes wrong with any of the appliances is fully covered". WOW! I'M SHOCKED YOU ARE STILL IN BUSINESS. I'M SURE NOT FOR LONG. I finally got Espevan on the phone 0n 9/2/21 and he said he'd credit me the full amount.. I just received a check on Oct 9, 2021 for $386, 59. I expect FULL REFUND IMMEDIATELY or I will take further action!

Miss guiding and lies to customer
I filed the dishwasher "not washing dishes" issue with SHW. Their associate are miss guiding customers. They told me I am covered for dishwasher per my policy and they make technician replace original parts of my kenmore unit. technician called SHW on phone they approved and he replaced the parts, and charged me service fee. After that my dishwasher is not draining water its sitting in tub and stinking. Now my dishwasher is in worst state then before with stinky water collected in tub and not draining. SHW now decided to not entertain the claim. They decided it should be replaced and I should pay $60 as service charge now they are asking me money to replace parts and labour and get the dishwasher fixed myself. Called then 7 times today and they don't help customer instead stress them out. Its not safe to drain your money with SHW. Their is no Warranty for your appliances. They actually charge you, take original parts and left you in situation that you buy new appliance yourself. As many time you call. None of the associate know what is up with the claim. While selling product also they miss guide than they mis communicate with customers and ask to refer section in policy which they will never mention when u buy the policy. I wish i would have never switched to them .

Select Home Warranty Rip Off
When I talked to the salesman on the phone, he guaranteed me that they completely covered that was listed on their web site. This is untrue. When I filed a claim for my Dishwasher and Range, I had to pay a service fee of $75.00 for a technician to come out and check the units. The repair company came out a month ago and I did not hear from either company as to the claim status. I called the repair company and they told me the claim was denied. When I called Select, I was told that they denied the claim and did not give a good answer why. I then contacted them to cancel the policy. They said they would send a refund the check I received for canceling was of $60.00. I contacted and told them that they did not give me any service and I deserve a full refund and I was told to F off.

samsung refridgerator - TN APPLIANCE - BUYER BEWARE!!!
Called and submitted a claim 9/7 for a leak inside the refrigerator. The company TN Appliance was to schedule a maintenance call. They came out spent about 20 minutes said they fixed the issue and collected my $75. Today is 9/20 and my original leak is worse. It now takes multiple towels daily to keep it off the floor. Select Home Warranty cannot get TN Appliance on the phone to schedule a return visit and they keep telling me I HAVE TO PAY $75 AGAIN for the next visit. I did not choose TN Appliance and I will NEVER choose or recommend Select Home Warranty to anyone. I've averaged over an hour on the phone with Select Home Warranty every time I call in to try to get some help because TN Appliance will not answer the phone. DO NOT CHOOSE EITHER OF THESE COMPANIES! They will take your money and not help you! MY problem is worse and my wallet is lighter are the only accomplishments.
Desired outcome: fix my refridgerator and waive the return visit charges!!! or give me my policy money back for a FALSE CONTRACT!!
2 Home Warranty Policies
Contract numbers [protected] and 3663955 were purchased and paid the policies (> $3, 000 total) for both in 3 installments. I put in the first ever claim for my refrigerator icemaker and the claim was denied. My refrigerator was covered but the ice maker would require an additional $39.99 for a riders coverage. I refused the riders policy and requested my policy be cancel due to unsatisfactory services. Select representative attempted to persuade me from canceling, when I refused to further discuss the issue, I was informed that I would be charged a $75 cancelation fee. It is not fair for a company to deny the service that you purchase then charge you for not being satisfied. I have never received any services on this policy. September 6, 2021 when I initiated the claim, I informed the Select Representative that I never received my policies and he emailed them to me. No service has never been rendered under either policy and I want a total refund of my payment effective today 9/8/2021.
Desired outcome: I want a total refund of both policies. Select Home Warranty denied my initial claim in order to get more monies from me, has NEVER provided services therefore does NOT deserve to keep any of my money
Denial in coverage
I filed a claim for components of my pool. Since One of the components was leaking the denied my entire claim. Pump and filter are two different things. They associated both components and denied my entire claim. Made excuses and found loopholes to not make my repairs. Bad customer service.

I paid for this home warranty and I should have gone with my gut initially! They promised all the appliances, water heater etc were covered the address was incorrect on contract as well as the information initially provided by Ryan Boyd (the sales rep). I submitted a claim for water heater and was told a service guy would come out then in a few min later after the call I get an email that says it's not covered?! It clearly is a breech of contract and I want my money back or else there will be ramifications. I was sold a crap of goods and with the address being incorrect the contract should now be null and void. These are scammers and I would file complain and possible class action lawsuit against this company for lying to clients. They take your money and do nothing! Calling sales dept is easy they pick up quick it try calling in for a claim. A totally different story altogether!

Warranty Repair Followup
I opened a service request on 7/15/21 for repairs to my refrigerator. I was given the runaround at each attempt to get help. By 8/20/21 with the refrigerator still not working I asked to simply get a depreciated cash amount to replace. I was given another 3 days of runaround before being told no and that the claim was being closed. I canceled my warranty and had them deduct a ton of fees. They are the worst operation I have ever dealt with from both a customer service standpoint as well standing by their word. Stay away and never allow them to rip you off.
Desired outcome: Give a full warranty refund and apology.
Refrigerator repair
Filed a claim in the beginning of August, 2021. It is now 3 weeks without resolve and a serviceman was called in and provided a general description of the issue without explanation as to specific parts. I then had a second serviceman come in to diagnose the refrigerator and he provided an estimate of the parts that needed to be replaced or repaired which are all listed on the warranty as COVERED COMPONENTS. Select's interpretation is the complete opposite of my interpretation of the diagnosis saying that it's a restriction problem causing the issues rather than what it actually states on the estimate as the components causing the restrictions to occur.
Nowhere on the estimate does it say the restriction is the cause of the overall issue but the complete opposite. The refrigerator repair is covered according to the warranty and the parts that are effected.
6.2.1. Refrigerator. This Agreement covers one (1) refrigerator located within the kitchen of the covered home. This
Agreement covers all modules, components and parts of the refrigerator necessary to the functionality of the refrigerator.

As you can see this company is horrible my complaint was also fridge. They jerked me around for 5 weeks before simply cutting me loose saying claim closed sorry it doesn’t work oh well. Then when I canceled their contract they deducted their technician cost from my unused premium. Crooks.

4/9/21 I entered Policy # [protected] at $39.99 per mo. to cover appliances.On June 10 I filed Claim # [protected] when my a/c stopped cooling. SHW fraudulently claims to have one of the largest networks of contractors, but was not able to dispatch a tech for 3 weeks. Temps here were 90 degrees plus. I was forced to hire a contractor who diagnosed it needed a Condenser which is covered in Section 3.6.3 in my contract. Submitted my invoice but SHW refuses to pay the covered parts. Since SHW has never paid a penny under this contract, I requested a full refund of my payments. SHW has refused. I want current and prospective customers to know that SHW is not reliable (no techs to diagnose the problem. Will not honor the terms of the contract. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.
Desired outcome: Pay for covered parts or refund my payments and terminate.
Air Conditioner Compressor Coils

SELECT HOME WARRANTY did NOT service or repair claims that I submitted. I had been a customer for nine months and submitted three claims. They did NOT service or repair either. On a ceiling fan, they depreciated the item and offered their idea of market value. They offered reimbursement of $45, which did not begin to minimally replace the fan and install. Our AC went out during the hottest months of the summer. SELECT HOME WARRANTY sent sub-par techs to service our AC. The service guy was late twice. After he left, SELECT HOME WARRANTY asked us to take pictures and submit a 3 year maintenance log. WHY did they not ask the service tech to take pictures? Our unit was at least 20 years old, why would they want a service log? I provided the service log later. They offered $150 limit for the AC repair! I am annoyed and disappointed, as I feel, SELECT HOME WARRANTY played, 'gotcha' to mitigate providing repair services to me, their once loyal customer.
I have CANCELED my service agreement with them.

Desired outcome: I want them to accommodate me for the AC install. Essentially, I want them to reach an agreement with me for the amount paid, $3800, for the unit to be installed.
Not getting my full refund once warranty was canceled within 30 days.
I paid full price for a home warranty but when I canceled it they would not give me my full refund stated a bunch of unheard of fees as the reason for returning $4.25 of 425.00 which was paid to for the year.

The worst. I have wrestled with this company since I made the poor decision to try them. They are full of b.s.. They do not get on the ball when needed always have an excuse. I have a rental that needs a dishwasher repaired of replaced and cannot get them off the mark to do either one let alone return a phone call. They should be put out of business.

"Select Home Warranty is a scam. Don't use them. If you have a claim, they tell you to get your own service people and pay the bill and they will reimburse you. Them argue about the reimbursement".
If I had the money to pay for the service myself, I wouldn't need your company. I am on S.S. and was trying to save money and protect myself and my home. Instead, I have invest over $120.00 for nothing. I'm just glad I caught this early and didn't lose to much money.
Home warranty
We bought a 5 year contract from this warranty company. Every time we tried to have them address an issue in our home, they delayed, denied or never returned our call. The final straw was with our refrigerator, it had a power surge due to an electrical company fixing a transformer and blew the fridge's invertor control unit. We called this terrible home warranty and they said they could not get anyone there until 4 weeks! We called back 6 times and was finally assigned another repair company that told us it would be 3 weeks! We said no, and called back Select home warranty and explained the issue. They told us we could look on our own but get approval before any work is completed. We called around and the 1st company we called was able to come out the next night at 530pm. They arrived at 6pm, had the part and called Select home warranty to approve the repair BUT select home warranty authorization dept. closed (9am-7pm EST). So instead of having this repair company come back (if they even could) they repaired it. Now Select home warranty will not reimburse us for the $450 repair bill! They agreed that the bill is concurrent with this type of repair, however since we didn't speak to anyone (they were closed) they are denying our claim.
Please, Please do NOT use this company... I have owned 6 homes and had home warranty's with all, and this company, by far, is the absolute worst one ever. They constantly lie, delay and deny.

I am having the same issues. I have Platinum policy for 3 years. They will not cover my pool filter or AC. I have two in a single story house, but they are saying hey won’t cover two ACs. They are both my main acs. One for bedrooms (100* in there now).
I think we should start a class action against them. It’s awful. I feel duped.
Have been waiting over 45 days for Reimbursement of Claim and Cancellation of policy!
This company has not fulfilled their responsibilities for timely reimbursement of a claim and cancellation of my policy. I AM STILL WAITING AND AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM THIER BILLING DEPARTMENT. I have called them several times and each time they have told me my checks were sent. I was also told that I cannot speak to a manager in the United States where I live to resolve the issue. Also, the way their policy is worded lead me to believe that I would get my well pump cost reimbursed which cost me $1400 and they only offered $400! Hardly worth the price of the policy. The sales person did not give me all of the facts when he sold me the policy. Buyer Beware!

Similar situation. I can fi my house myself almost every system not trying to brag, I put in 3 claim at the same time 2 being plumbing 1 appliance. All three claims denied by email. i was surprised that faucets aren, t covered also the plumbing coverage was all plumbing up to 100 ft from the dwelling. My property doesnt even go that far, I was told I didn't add plumbing coverage. If this was true why would I know about the 100ft limit and also could not get it change from a blockage to a leak. I cancelled the policy in May and have yet to see the balance of my premiums which they claim they paid but my CC says they didn't I disputed the claim and was told that i would only recieve the refund if I dropped the dispute. They due this to show that the dispute is in their favor. Your CC company will only let you dispute a charge 1 time period they consider it resolved after that. They only thing we can do is keep bashing the company or get a group together who is willing to file a class action law suit. There is n0 statute of limitations for class action. CONTRACT #[protected] PLATINUM CARE COVERAGE PLAN
Filed a claim for my refigerator ice maker 06/23/21 and was told that i did not purchase additional coverage for my ice maker. I asked that if calls were recorded which would support that i requested coverage for my roof, and the price if i decided to cover a second refigerator and deep freezer. It was a bait and switch and a failure to disclose important information. After going back and forth with cancelling this contract mr. Ron smith, manager in the executive customer relation department at [protected] ext: 5036, claimed that i was approved for $200 and matthew from crystal appliance came out to collect $60 for service the call, matthew said the part was ordered and to date my calls have gone unanswered. I spoke with mr. Smith, peter, and loniele over the course of this nightmare; recieving nothing but lies to string me along which resulted into broken promises and a refusal to refund my $60 service call, my $1, 925 for no services renedered. These are unethical business practices and this company should be investigated.
