I purchased the Shark Steam Mop set at Costco. I used it about 10 times or so before it stopped working this last time. I could tell it was hot where the water is but the mop itself wasn't. I kept mopping and pushing the handle down to see if the steam would start coming out. Suddenlty it POPPED very loudly and quickly from both sides where the plastic pieces are. Steam came flying out. I thought to myself, that ain't good and I'm glad I wasn't bending down again when that happened. When I pulled the mop back, the steaming hot water splashed out onto my toes and burnt my two toes, so bad they blistered up and 4 days later they still hurt and are tender. I finally got someone from Euro Pro to call me back today (after leaving a message the night it happened) and they said they had never heard of this happening before and want me to send the poduct back to them so they can investigate. I don't believe them. I think they do know about this and are trying to avoid a class action lawsuit. Does anyone know anything about this and what will happen if I send them the product? Someone could get really hurt (much worse than I did) The lady on the phone didn't even apologize for my burns. DO NOT GET A SHARK STEAM MOP!
Our shark steam mop did the same thing in less than 6 uses. We just got our replacement last week and on the first use it popped again. #3 is currently being sent to us. Pure Junk. DO NOT BUY!
BTW, it is extremely dangerous and it shoots very shot steam and water out of it.
This happened to me too! Right where the plastic windows are on the tank, like there was too much pressure inside and it exploded. It was past the year long warranty though. It burnt my feet! I never called and complained, found this post just because I am researching which steam mop to purchase to replace my Shark. Has anyone had any luck fixing this on their own?
This just happened to us two weeks ago. It has been working great and we love it. But then, as I was about to steam my wood floor, I heard a loud pop and it stopped working. It was still wooshing steam, but not in the right spot. I am going to call the manufacturer, and Costco on Monday and I hope that I can get some answers.
We had the same thing happen, there was loud pop and steam came from everywhere, thankfully I was standing far enough back it didn't hurt me. Now the steam comes out the top and the bottom of the water tank thing, but no steam makes it to the bottom so it's pretty much useless now. We actually have more water dripping on the floor now then actual steam hitting the floor. Plus I was trying to be nice and clean the kitchen floor for my wife and since there was no steam it was not cleaning anything and I snapped the pole since I was trying to scrub the floor with it, whoops! I think we have had it over a year so no warranty, so going in the trash and don't think we will get another one!
Ours also stopped working, sounded like it exploded. what a pile of crap, never by one again
This just happened to our SSM also, my wife burned her hand pretty good. She said as everyone else has said there was a loud pop and then steam everywhere. Glad my 3 year old wasn't trying to help clean this time it would have been right at face level.
Just had thee same experience with my Shark steam mop. Just as I pulled it back toward my feet, POP...steam spewed Everywhere including on 3 of my toes! They feel like they've been boiled. No more Shark products for me. Overpriced and low quality IMO.
