Mixed feelings about Sirius XM: Great content, poor billing practices and customer service
Me and my family have been using Sirius XM for a long time now. We really enjoy the variety of music and talk shows they offer. However, we have had some issues with their billing practices. Every year, after our contract ends, they start charging our credit card a really high monthly rate. We tried negotiating a new program last year, but we made it clear that we did not want an automatic renewal. Despite this, Sirius XM started charging us again this year without our authorization.
We contacted their customer service department to try and resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the customer service supervisor we spoke to was really rude and condescending. They refused to refund the unauthorized payments and insisted that we had authorized the charges. We were really disappointed with the way we were treated and the lack of help we received.
Overall, we still enjoy using Sirius XM, but we would caution anyone who is thinking about signing up with them. They keep your credit card on file and may charge fees without your permission. We hope that they will improve their billing practices and customer service in the future.
Sirius XM Review: Terrible Customer Service and Billing Issues - Go with Spotify Instead
I gotta say, I had a pretty rough experience with Sirius XM. It's like they don't even understand what "cancel my membership" means. I mean, it took me a whole hour just to get them to cancel it! And even after they said they did, they still charged my card a month later. I tried to explain that I already canceled, but they just wouldn't leave me alone until the charge went through. It was a real hassle.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend Sirius XM to anyone. If you're looking for a good music streaming service, I'd go with Spotify premium instead. It's way better than XM in every way. You can hook it up to Bluetooth, it's got tons of playlists and podcasts to choose from, and you don't have to argue with someone just to cancel your membership.
I mean, just look at the photos I took when I tried to cancel for the second time. I had to try three times just to get them to listen to me! It's ridiculous. Save yourself the trouble and go with Spotify.
Frustrating App Issues: My Experience with Sirius XM
I really like Sirius XM, but there are some problems with the app that make it frustrating to use. Every 15 minutes, the app stops working and I have to restart it. This is especially annoying when I'm driving because it's not safe to be messing around with my phone while I'm on the road. Unfortunately, the radio in my car doesn't work very well because of issues with my antenna, so I have to rely on the app to listen to my favorite stations.
Lately, I've noticed that the website is having the same issues as the app. It's really frustrating because I love listening to Sirius XM, but these problems make it difficult to enjoy. I've tried reaching out to their customer service for help, but they're not very helpful. They just tell me to reinstall the app, which doesn't fix the problem.
It's clear from reading other reviews that this has been an ongoing issue for a while now. I've been dealing with it for over a year, and it doesn't seem like Sirius XM is doing anything to fix it. It's a shame because I really enjoy the service, but if these problems continue, I won't be renewing my subscription once it runs out.
Disappointing Employee Treatment at SiriusXM: My Experience and Why I Cancelled My Subscription
Sirius XM is a company that doesn't seem to value its employees. My fianc? worked for them for more than a year, but after one bad call, they fired her without any consideration for the fact that she needs to work to survive. It's disappointing that SiriusXM doesn't seem to understand that their employees work hard to make ends meet.
I decided to cancel my subscription with SiriusXM after this experience, and I plan to tell everyone I know about how poorly they treat their employees. I don't think I'll ever recommend SiriusXM to anyone, and I'll definitely be sharing my negative experience with others.
It's a shame that I even considered subscribing to SiriusXM in the first place, just because my fianc? worked there. But after seeing how they treated her, I knew I had to end my subscription. It's important to support companies that value their employees and treat them with respect. Unfortunately, SiriusXM doesn't seem to be one of those companies.
Sirius XM Review: Great Service, But Watch Out for Hidden Charges and Cancellation Hassles
I recently got Sirius XM as part of a new car purchase. It was pretty cool to have access to all the different channels and genres of music while driving. However, after about 6 months, the service "expired" and I was left wondering what to do next. Luckily, they called me up and offered an extension for a few months at only $2 per month. I thought it was a great deal and took them up on it.
But, as all good things must come to an end, the $2 extension eventually expired. I assumed that the service had expired as they indicated it would, but now I find out that they've been charging me $30 per month since the inexpensive extension expired. I was pretty upset about this and decided to cancel the service this morning.
As others have mentioned, the cancellation process takes a while. I used the chat service and it went reasonably well. I can't complain too much, other than the fact that I feel like I should be able to cancel service without having to spend 45 minutes chatting online to do so. It's a bit of a hassle, but at least it's possible to cancel the service if you need to.
Overall, I recommend proactively canceling the service if you don't use the "free" trial service that comes with the car. It's a good service, but it's not worth the hassle and extra charges if you're not using it regularly.
Sirius XM Review: Good Service, but Beware of Fees and Constant Marketing
So, I tried out Sirius XM with a free trial and let it expire without renewing. I thought that would be the end of it, but boy was I wrong! For the next 8 months, I was hounded by snail mail and email to come back to the service. I didn't respond, but then I got an email with a pretty good deal - $5 a month and a free echo dot. I couldn't resist and decided to call to reconnect the service.
The representative I got on the phone wasn't the best at speaking English, but I could understand him for the most part. However, he kept repeating the same thing over and over again. It was frustrating, but I finally got him to slow down and explain that there were taxes and fees of $6.76 per month. I thanked him for his time and hung up, but not before hearing him try to make another deal.
I have to say, I was a bit disappointed that they nickel and dime you with all these fees. And after a year, the service goes up to $17.99 per month before fees and taxes. That's a bit steep for me, so I decided to stick with my trusty Apple CarPlay.
Overall, I think Sirius XM has some good things going for it, but the constant bombardment of emails and snail mail can be a bit overwhelming. And the fees and taxes can really add up. But if you're a die-hard fan of satellite radio, then it might be worth it for you.
Poor customer service. Giving false information
I have three vehicles with XM Radio subscriptions, and I have been a customer since 2007. My renewal date was 05/25/2023. I received an invoice for renewal, but it was difficult to understand and appeared to be significantly higher than the previous year. I contacted customer service and was presented with options that I did not like. Consequently, I decided to cancel. However, the customer service representative then offered me a price of $62.00 per vehicle. I inquired if I would retain the same channels, to which I was told there would be no changes. I specifically asked if this included the weather and traffic package for my motorcycle subscription, and I was assured that it was included. Based on this information, I agreed to renew for $186.00 for the year.
On May 24, my credit card was charged $186.00. However, on May 25, when I tried to listen to one of my favorite channels, I discovered that it was no longer available. The same situation occurred with another favorite channel. I contacted customer service, and they informed me that those channels were no longer part of my subscription. I then emailed Listenercare but received no response. However, a day or so later, the missing channels started working again. On May 26, I was charged an additional $35.88 for the weather and traffic package on my motorcycle. I explained to the representative that this was supposed to be included in the $186.00 renewal. The representative assured me that he would rectify the situation. The following day, I was charged another $36.62, but the day after that, I received a credit of $71.76. At that point, everything seemed to be resolved.
However, earlier this week, I tuned in to one of my favorite channels only to find that it was gone again. I contacted customer service, and the representative informed me that the only way to regain access to these channels was to pay more. The representative insinuated that I was not telling the truth and claimed that there was no way for those channels to be activated after my renewal without paying additional fees. However, this directly contradicted my experience after I emailed Listenercare. Now, those channels have been removed once again. I have sent another email to Listenercare, but I have not received a response. The customer service representative who handled my renewal misled me. It is easy to lower the price by reducing the package, but I agreed to the new price under the understanding that there would be no changes to my subscription. XM should honor the agreement of $186.00 per year without altering the available channels that I have enjoyed for many years.
Desired outcome: XM should honor the price given by their representative without altering my channel lineup that I have had for many prior years.
Radio/streaming service
Your customer service is very unsatisfying. They are very difficult and do not listen to the customer request. They are pushy with their sales pitch and DO NOT listen to the customer. This is not the first time I have had a run in with their company. I am very shocked at how awful your customer service is. If you are trained to be pushy and not listen, then the issue is greater than just this customer service rep. Judging by my other interactions, I have had with this company it's not just one person's Customer Service it's several. I see that you are not rated well and I will be complaining on social media as well. This has to stop. I'm surprised you have not lost more business because of it. I would also like to note that customers are taken advantage of by luring in with low costs and when they have been a customer for over a year the rate escalates to an outrageous level. I am shocked that you have not lost more business because of these items. I am tired of it and something needs to be said or done with this awful company.
SiriusXM
I used the Sirius chat/text to cancel my subscription on April 5th. The upcoming renewal date was April 9th. After going through the endless sales pitches the associate stated 'I can cancel your service today or keep it active through your paid date. Either way your service will not renew'. ...'and after that date you will not receive any further billing from us.'...'it will automatically be deactivated on 04/09/2023 and you don't have to contact us'.
But surprise surprise it didn't cancel and I received invoices with late fees. So I contacted again May 22nd to ask why and was told the previous agent only cancelled the streaming service and not the car radio. I understood they were one and the same as I only paid one invoice to listen in the car and on the app. Apparently not according to the agent who told me he would now cancel the car radio May 22nd and I needed to pay balance due.
This appears to be a total rip off to me and I'm trying to decide if I just pay up and done with it or fight it. Needless to say I will never sign up for another Sirius subscription in my lifetime.
Desired outcome: Sirius should have fully closed my account on April 9th as I was originally told and there should be no additional billing.
Service
I was given a 3 month free subscription to their service, I tried several unsuccessfully times to activate it, called them a few times which didn't help, & on their follow up phone call to me was trying to be upsold to a paid subscription, even after telling them what happended. Today, I was sent an email reminder of my free subscription expiring, & it was a "do not reply" email. I can't find an email address for them, & their "chat" button doesn't work. I hate phoning to explain all of this to them again, as I know that can't/won't do anything about it.
Thanks much,
Brian.
Desired outcome: Make it easier to activate subscriptions, make sure I can connect before trying to upsell me to, send all emails with a "reply" option, &/or make it easy to find their email address. & make sure their "chat" button works when I click on it.
Transfer from old vehicle to new
I had XM in two vehicles (Expedition and Camaro). On 7 May 23, I used the chat feature to transfer my service from the Expedition to a Mustang. Seems like a simple request. I was ensured by the representative that it was accurately accomplished. I was charged $16.20 to "chat" this issue. On Monday morning, 8 May 23, I realized that the XM was not in the new car. I called the customer service phone number. The lady barely spoke English so it was extremely difficult to make her understand what happened. After 45 minutes and me going back and forth to my cars, she assured me it was resolved. I hung up thinking I had finally gotten it all straightened out. The next day (9 May 23), I'm driving my Camaro and the XM shuts off. No channels, no nothing. I call the customer service phone number AGAIN. Another lady with the same heavy accent assures me she can resolve the issue. I explained to her what was going on and how frustrated I was. She told me that she shows I transferred the XM from my old Camaro to my new Camaro. I explained to her that I have NEVER had another Camaro. I told her I sold the Expedition and all I wanted was to transfer the service to my Mustang! Never once did I mention my Camaro! She then cancelled and started a new account for the Camaro and Mustang. Again, I was charged another connection fee. I refused to pay it at which time she waived the fee. I literally spent 46 minutes on the phone with her and I'm still not convinced it will be correct! Worst customer service experience I've ever had!
The blend
Out of all the songs and performers in the decades you cover I do not understand why you play the same things over and over and over. There are days when you beat us down with bee gees, or Manilow, or Streisand or Anne M urray or Lionel Ritchie or Whitney
Houston. Some of the songs are on repeat that are really not that good, esp the dumb Cher ones. We have to listen to this station all day at work and it has become very dreary and sleepy. Play some Michael McDonald, Hall and Oates, some of the country/pop cross over artists.
Desired outcome: better line up
Price on packages
I was a listener until recently and had to cancel my subscription. My nephew who lives in my house got an offer for three years for $99.00. I called and asked if I could get the same deal and was told no. I explained I am retired and on a fixed income and that would help me out tremendously. Just curious as to why some people get better deals than others. I really enjoyed the service and I know $20.00+ may not seem like a lot to some people, until your on a fixed income.
Desired outcome: I would to get that same deal as my nephew was offered.
Billing - false billing procedures
Hello
I subscribed to sirus in 5/2021 for the amount of 127.40- 12 months
I subscribed again in 3/17/22 was told a price of 107.88 for 12 months with a credit coming back to me of 15.70 which would have been 92.18 price that I was told it would cost for the 12 months.
I never saw the credit but saw a charge of 127.40
Again I subscribed 2/1/2023 was told a price of 53.94 for 6 months with a credit coming back to me for 15.78. I have the charge of my cc of 53.63 but no credit
Today 2/13/2023 I called to go over my billing for the last 2 years and now, I am given a total different price. This company is actually lying about their radio cost. So for 2022 my bill really was 107.88 plus taxes which I was never told. They tell you the lowest cost to try to sell you. The cost for 2023 is actually 69.72 not the 53.63. I was told 53.63 and you will get a credit of 15.78 only for me to call back and be told the original package was 69.72. False Advertisement. This should be illegal and must stop. Imagine going in a store and seeing something on a shelf that says 50.00 get to the register and it is 56.00 plus the taxes. That is not right. I belive they are making up prices as they go along!
Desired outcome: would like my credit to my account- or something done about them doing this.
Cancel ability
They make it so easy to PURCHASE, I have been trying to cancel for two months, problem is that they have hours, and they make you call to cancel. I work a lot and usually only have time to call to cancel early morning or weekends. They are not open. Why cant I cancel my subscription on-line. Rediculous.
Also they do not have an email support to help. Really not firendly or fair.
Desired outcome: Post an option to cancel the account on line , or have a 24/7 help line, or have an email support for those of us who may not be able to call during hours.
Customer service and business plan
1/19/2023
For the past 10 years we have had Sirius XM Radio and we go through the same CRAP every year. They want to bill you whatever amount they feel like at the time. It makes no sense and is published no where anywhere. After arguing with them and cancelling the service and not renewing for 1 month, then calling back you will get a better rate and if you want to stay on the phone for 45-1 hour you can finally get the low rate you know you can get. PLus they will not cancel your service, so then that is another phone call because I will not let them renew because it will ALWAYS be at a higher rate. BUT, you cannot begin a service without giving them your credit card to bill you monthly or annually. So when you give it to them they have it in their system to bill you at renewal at the higher rate they pull out of the air which is also not published anywhere!
It's infuriating and I cant stand them. As soon as I get the streaming figured out, I will cancel and never use this radio service EVER EVER EVER again!
You should not be paying over $5 per month. Monthly with tax and fees is $6.06. If you pay annually it should be $60 plus $12.84 in tax and fees total of $72.84. If you are not a first time customer and are paying more than this, you are also getting ripped off by this wonderful business.
Whoever is in charge of this company is not a good business person. RUN and RUN fast if you have other options. This is horrible!
Their customer service is not in any way affiliated with the corp company. It's obvious. They trip all over themselves and are like robots. HORRIBLE!
Desired outcome: Publish your plan, rates and fees to customers like any other service out there. Quit ripping people off and having 25 different plans you put people on for the very SAME SERVICE!!!!!!
Sirius XM
Constantly hiking rates, and trying to cancel is like getting a root canal. They claim your account # or Radio Code "isn't valid" and then force you into chat so they can try to retain you as a customer. After continuously jacking-up rates for crappy service (signal and music cut out frequently) they seem surprised when you want to cancel.
Hello!? I signed up for advertisement-free radio and instead I get Howard Stern pitching products on his show (isn't that advertising?) and lame "shows" with equally lame hosts with crap content. if I want to listen to 70's Music I do NOT want to listen to "American Top 40' reruns or have some radio personality jabber in between songs. How about some music? Casey Kasem is long dead, and maybe 27 of the 40 songs SUCK. 60's music? Same deal. I don't want a host and I don't want to listen to Peter Noone's show either. Just play some music already.
Desired outcome: Refund
Cancel service
Why is impossible to cancel my subscription via your online webpage. Why must I speak to a CSR in order to cancel a service? I don't need anyone to talk me into a discount deal, I want to cancel this subscription since Amazon Music is far superior than this expensive subscription! I plan on copying my Attorney General about my complaint with subscribers who make it difficult to cancel subscriptions!
Desired outcome: Cancel subscription
Sorry about that ...
Can't create password
In Dec 2022 I bought a Roku device and I did sign up for SirusXM 3 month trial on my Roku. SirusXM sent me an email to create a password. I clicked the link in the email to create a password but it took me to a page saying it expired. I chat them online & they said contact Roku. So did contact Roku and of course Roku said SirusXM is in charge if the login for their channel. I did chat online with SirusXM again & they kept telling me contact Roku after I told them Roku can’t do nothing about creating a password on SiriusXM site. They also said they need my account number but I told them I don’t have. After chat, DM them on twitter & they said a SiriusXM Corporate Solutions Team member will email & call me. In Jan 2023, The member sent me 3 same emails asking me what the best time to call me after I told them just email me. Their last email was Jan 3 and I haven’t hear back of them. They are ignoring me, giving me a run around & they don’t know to fix the problem about creating a password on their site. The customer service is bad
Desired outcome: Have a email address and learn to email people. Don't ignoreFix the creating password
