Spirit Halloween Store

I was in the store in Carbondale Illinois on 10/7/2022 and the store was FREEZING.. I mentioned the cold temps in the store to the sales associate and she apologized saying the store had no heat.. Those poor employees are working in a store where the air is running at it's 30 degrees outside and only 45 to 50 degrees inside the store.. Shame! I returned to the store 10 days later on 10/17/2022 and it was still freezing in the store.. The workers were literally huddled around a space heater behind the counter and wrapped in blankets trying to stay warm..

Spirit Halloween Never received product... customer service doesn't answer/hangs up

i ordered a Multi-prop remote from Spirit Halloween on 9/30/22. It is October 19. It has been listed as in transit in Plainfield, IL for 3 weeks now.

When I try to call Spirit's customer service line, [protected], it plays a generic message and hangs up... no matter which option I choose. I am calling during the hours listed on their website.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I am very disappointed.

Spirit Halloween Discrimination against others employees

Hello, I'm a employee with spirit Halloween in Southport Indiana off the Southport exit, I have been working with these employees that has been disrespectful to me, they have discriminate against me, I had to quit today because it got so bad there, these employees has sent me hurtful threatening text messages that I will not get my check or money that I put in and it's gotten bad and I would like to be paid for the work I put in. It all started when I saw two managers and 1 employee go into the bath together and they were doing drugs and ever since I saw this it has been hard for me to continue to work there and I got some pretty threatening text messages today since I told them I quit but this needs to be look into.my email address is [protected]@gmail.com and my phone number is [protected]

Desired outcome: I want my check for the hours I put in.

Spirit Halloween Exchanges

On 10/9/22 I went to Spirit on W. Alaska Dr. in Lakewood Co. (60746) at 6:29pm and bought a stakeable scarecrow ([protected]). About 15 mins. later I noticed the eye was popped in. Went back to exchange it and the manager (3352928 lady with dark purple hair) said she could not do it cause I used a coupon (the cashier gave me the coupon than said they didn't have a coupon to give me to exchange the item). If she did it I would have to pay the difference. All I wanted was a exchange for one that was not defective! She refused and was very very rude. So I just told her I wanted my money back. In the beginning of the first transition I told the cashier (3369418) I didn't want to round up my .81 cents she did anyway which I didn't say nothing cause I know they need to get donations. So when I was getting my refund I told the manager I wanted my .81 back she said no it was a donation. My opinion is that Spirit is getting donations by saying register only takes exact change. That is totally wrong. I went to 2 different stores and they both had signs. I can not believe you guys run a business like this! I can not believe I couldn't exchange my item. I was sold a defective item. I don't think I will return to Spirit cause of how I was treated.

Spirit Halloween Fishstick costume- fortnite

I bought this costume for my son on 09/23 for a halloween campout the weekend following. i got him a size 14/16 when he wears a 10/12 clothing. When he went o put this on, it completely split up the back and im pretty sure my nephew who is in a size 6 in toddlers couldnt have fit in this. Not only did he not get to participate, i have to spend another 60 dollars on a costume for him, and hope and pray that you guys actually did sizing right.

Desired outcome: i would like a refund for the faulty costume that was obviously mislabeled to purchase a new one.

Spirit Halloween Unsafe working conditions

Rehired this year and now I wish I wasn't. This year the location is smaller and closer so I thought cool...but quickly realized it may be a mistake. First off I'll start with the fact that Spirit Halloween makes ALOT of Money every year and the spaces they choose to occupy are DISGUSTING. Last year Voorhees, NJ location and this year West Berlin, NJ. Both locations look as if they've been abandoned for many years. Completely dirty, broken..everything...from missing ceiling tiles exposing all kinds of wires hanging down. To absolutely DISGUSTING back rooms & bathrooms. The air conditioning not working properly and it's over 90°. This years location so far no refrigerator for the employees, no break room, one bathroom that is supposed to be shared with customers?! GROSS! People work for this company because it's fun...NOT for the money because the pay is low so they can LEAST have a nice working environment. I honestly don't know if I'll last. Oh and on top of all that they have 4 people trying to work in these hot conditions to put the ENTIRE store together and a good majority of the people cannot and should not be lifting such heavy items such as the walls, boxes, etc with literally NO carts to help. They had to get carts from Home Depot. I came home today feeling like I had heat exhaustion. The big wigs should be Ashamed for allowing their employees to work in such conditions. Shameful. Quit being CHEAP and get nicer locations and have the place CLEANED prior! This place AND last year was absolutely disgusting. Again, I may not even stay because it's so gross. I can provide pictures later but honestly its something to see in person. This place looks like a crack house inside. Does the owner/owners even know about these conditions?

Desired outcome: I'd appreciate a response and someone HIGH up to look into this...not some store manager from another store.

Spirit Halloween Everything

I ordered a child costume in October 2021, they sent me an adult size costume. I contacted Spirit and they said return it for a refund. I immediately returned the costume unopened and they received it. I keep getting ridiculous answers like " I will pass this on to my supervisor" after I was already told my refund was processing. It does not take months to process a simple return. Still no refund. Nothing but a bunch of thieves and I will make sure to tell everyone I possibly can that my money was stolen! THIEVES!

Spirit Halloween Purchase not fulfilled but charged for the following items

I was charged for items I did not receive. I have been unable to reach anyone with Spirit Halloween on the phone or by email. They are scamming me out of my money and my items. I am furious and want to return the merchandise I did get and request a full refund for both the items I did receive and didn't receive. I will never do business with Spirit Halloween again.

Spirit Halloween Store location closed an hour earlier, that showed online. Due to lack of shoppers.

Independence Missouri 40 Highway store closed on November 2nd at 8:00. We got there at 7:55, manager had already shut down registers. The doors were still unlocked, and they still had lots of merchandise. Compared to others stores in our area we visited the same day.
Not to mention when we signed up 2 weeks prior to getting prop display skeletons, we were first on the list. We went yesterday on the 1st they were sold earlier and there were 2 people ahead of us. They had been selling prop items since before Halloween.
Very disappointed in this store and the people working there.
Store hours were changed with a marker.

I am an employee at spirit Halloween in Fenton and this assistant manager McKayla went off on my husband for no reason told him to leave get out of the store all he was doing was waiting for me to get off work today I didn't appreciate her going off on my husband like that she had no reason I want the CEO or regional manager to call me or my husband as soon as possible my number is [protected] or [protected]

Spirit Halloween Employee/Employer

While attempting to work at Spirit Halloween under a woman named Melody, I overheard her and a couple of other employees, (I believe one was her husband), joking about the Covid 19 pandemic and comparing the vaccination cards to "jews having to show their papers in n*zi Germany". No employees but myself and 2 other people made attempts to wear masks during store set-up.

I was later fired after my first day of work because I had an anxiety attack and found myself needing to sit down to get my bearings. I was told that sitting was a firable offense via text and was not contacted in any other way. This is despite having been very vocal about my mental illnesses and having been hired, even though I had them.

I found out a week or so later via a group text, I had not been removed from after being fired, that several employees had been exposed to Covid due to mask negligence and mockery of the pandemic.

We ordered a Gremlin costume for our baby girls first Halloween and the head was missing. When we tried to go exchange it they told us that we could not, so we asked them could we get the head that was supposed to come with the freaking costume and they said they don't have anymore. We cannot even get a refund. They are very unprofessional and tell people...

Spirit Halloween Owner James Patterson

I believe this is his name, know the first name and think this is his last name. On October 7th I met this gentleman who advised he was the owner of the 3 stores in Louisville and in Clarksville Ind. I was tried to purchase the hanging Vampire, led-eyed Skeletons, and conveyer belt that was used in store for your store purposes. I was informed by him to go to the store in Indiana the next day and they had one new I could buy, but the ones at the store there were already sold, and that I could pick up the items in Indiana because they could not set up the display there so they would be new. He advised me to get there about 10:00 because the fire marshall was causing them a lot of headaches. I arrived the next day at the store and it was still closed, went back at noon, was told by the store manager they would be opening around 2 he was waiting on staff to arrive. I told him what I was there for and he advised would be no problem, gave him my business card to show who I was and that I was not just going to not follow through. Arrived back at 1:20 to find the store already open and when got inside was told the hanging vampires were all sold, but that the led-eyed skeletons and the conveyer were mine as some as could find them. After about an hour the manager advised they had not been able to locate them, they were there but could not locate them, I purchased 10 costumes and spent about $600.00 that day, spent over $300.00 at the Outer Loop store the day before (this is October 8)Also purchased a Grim Skelton that day in which the whole head does not work and you all have no replacements. On October 13th I returned to the Clarksville store to see about picking up the items, both the store manager and the owner were there, they had located the Skeletons but had not been able to locate all of the conveyer belt prop. James himself advised me that to give them some more time, it was not going to be sold to anyone else and that he personally would have it set to the side, the store manager was there at the time. James told me and my partner that he did not find the rest he would mark it down from the $250.00 and would take care of me on the price. I bought the led-eyed skeletons for $159, 00 and took them home along with some other things like scarecrows ect. I spent around $200.00 extra cash. On October 18th was back there and purchased another $171.41 in stuff and talked to the store manager who ask for another week because he had not located the rest yet. On October 18th I returned and was again told to come back on the October 25th and they would surely have located it by then, the store manager was who I spoke to then, he said was just too Bizzy to help me that day but to come back late on the October the 28th and he would personally make sure it was there and that I had it, that he and James were sorry for all the trips I made and it was not going anywhere it was mine I spent another $199.68 in-store. On October 28 I returned as requested and purchased another $83.36 and ask for the conveyer, a young man who I had not seen before advised me that they sold it that morning, I advised him I was told it was mine, he told me the manager was fired the day before and any deal I had made with him was no longer honored, I told him, James, the owner was the one I had the deal with, the young man said he was the one who sold it. I advised the young man I would like to talk with James he advised he would be back to help close he was gone to get something to eat. At 09:00 or close to that time James come in the door, I ask him why he had sold the conveyer that he told me was mine, he told me I had not written my name down in the book, I said what book, he then told me, anyone, who wanted an item had to write there name in a book, I told him not him nor the store manager nor anyone had mentioned a book to me, but he had taken my name and number 3 times, I had given him and the manager business cards almost every time I was there and this was not right. He then told me well it's common knowledge and I said to who? I was getting a little upset that he kept telling me it was my fault with all the trips driving over 60 miles each way paying tolls on the river. My partner in the haunted house was standing right there. He then told me he could not help that I was not smart enough to write my name in the book, I put my finger about 6 inches from his face and told him not to mention the book again, he told me if I did not move my finger out of his face there was going to be a problem, I advised him to bring it, he then called the police and began telling them I had threatened him. I have 4 people who were there who can testify I never made a threat to him but he did to me. He also under Kentucky and Indian law made a breach of contract that can be verbal by telling me the prop was mine, He went on to lie to the police that I had refused to leave the store, I told him to quit lying to them because he had never asked me to leave the store, James said would you leave the store and I said yes, I then lift the store and went back home. All my conversations were in person, workers from the haunted house I run, my partner, and my wife were present at almost all the meetings and can testify to the conversations, I do not like being lied to, lied about and am thinking about taking legal action against the store owner and the store manager even though he was let go before this. If the owner had said I am sorry I forgot or been the least bit sorry it would have been okay, but to tell me it was my fault because I did not put my name down in a book was not acceptable, I should not have put my finger in his face, he acted like he wanted to fight until I did not back down, then called the police and lied that I threatened him and would not leave the store, and then called me an old man several times, this can be heard on the 911 call he made. I made 5 trips to Clarksville, driving over a toll bridge to try to get a prop that I was told was mine and would not be sold to have it sold on the morning of the day I was told to come to get it that night. The young man working the store come out after all this and told me he was sorry, that he did not know what was wrong with the manager, I told him I was sorry as did my partner that we spend around $5, 000.00 in spirit every year and can not believe how I was treated. I run a business and would not be in business long if I treated my customers like this. I shock the young man's hand outside the store, he can probably tell you from his point of view some of what happened. I do not know if the police came out or not because after we spoke to the young man and he said he was sorry about it, I told him if the owner had said he was sorry instead of telling me it was my fault it would have been fine. again I do not like to be lied to or about. I hope you have cameras so you can pull the feed, it should back me up completely.

Spirit Halloween Return Process

We purchased some items on October 23rd. We then went to family to drop off the items not realizing they had already purchased them. We tried to return the items 2 hours later and they said no returns after October 22nd. I was really disgusted because no where does it state this but on the receipt after the purchase is finalized. I understand that it is a seasonal store, but this information should be posted on the doors, at the register, and cashiers should be letting their customers know in advance. I do not think it is right that it is only displayed on your receipt after the items have been purchased; this is deceptive on the stores part. We did exchange the items, but for items we will unlikely ever use.

Spirit Halloween Returning

I bought two items tonight and tried to go back to the store and return was told nothing they would do - my receipt says it's has to be returned tonight even thought I just purchased less than 2 hours ago - called 1800 number and was told I'm stuck with the items - no one cares at all - they are a total take your money and run - I will never shop there again !

Spirit Halloween Costume

Horrible service my 7 year old picked a costume out took it home and there were no pants in her costume that cost us almost 38 dollars. Tried returning they refused to help us I tried emailing no help no response will be going to Party City from now on. The man looked at me and treated me so poorly. I can't even begin to understand who these people work for and what kind of people they are. It's a good thing that our family is not struggling this time of year. Thank God we were able to afford another costume from party city where they DONT QUESTION THE CUSTOMER..

Spirit Halloween rude and unprofessional manager

This incident occured on September 19, 2021

My son wanted to wear his costume from last year to the Spirit Halloween store so he did. We walked into the store, looked around for a bit, found a new costume in which I was carrying, and was approached by an employee saying 'he cant walk around the store in the costumes!' and I said 'this is ours from home. You can look on your camera and see that we walked in with it'. She had a horrible attitude. Didn't ask first if he had indeed tried it on in the dressing room, she just assumed. Her tone was very rude. Then we got up to the check out to pay for the new costume, and she refused to wait on us. I said 'excuse me, are you open?' and she just looked at us and said nothing. Very unprofessional! I asked the man that checked us out what her name was but he said he didn't know. I asked to speak with a manager and he said she was the manager! Unbelievable that a manager would treat a patronizing customer that way. All I know about her is she's an african american female with blue hair and a bad attitude. We will be doing business with other Spirit stores in the future, but not this one anymore.

Busted my [censored] in this store to be treated like [censored]! I was assistant manager and treated like a dog!
No thank!

Bringing up my daughter is very uncomfortable & unprofessional in work conversations!
Russell who speaks to all women in a demeaning manner needs to go! Rude, disrespectful cocky is not a way to be a manager!

Spirit Halloween District manager for store #60604 in dover delaware

This is my second year working for Spirit Halloween, as an assistant manager. My district manager's name is Kathleen Dondarksi, and from day one she has been verbally abusive to all of the employees. She talks to us like we're dogs. She's also told us "That's just how I talk to people, if you don't like it then don't work here.". My store manager has already reached out to the higher-ups but the same was done last year & she returned this year. My store # is 60604 in Dover, Delaware
