State Farm failing to pay claims

State Farm is truly the worst insurance company on the planet. I have been a customer for over 20 years and paid them over $100, 000 in insurance premiums. I have had two claims for water and/or wind damage over these years and both times they denied the claims other than in one instance they paid $450 on a $10, 000 + claim. Contrast this to Chubb who immediately paid about a $50, 000 claim on a water damage issue to a house I own. Drop State Farm and move to a reputable company like Chubb if you want your claims paid! Also do a google search on State Farm Fraud Katrina and you will see how they ripped off their policy holders after a hurricane!

State Farm wont cover my claim

ABOUT ME:
Hello, my name is Johnathan, I am a hard working American citizen residing in Miami FL… a certified Fire Fighter and Paramedic… on a waitlist in the county to be notified of placement when opens up. I go to school fulltime and have a 2 year old daughter and a 5 year old son that I support while working at the hospital as an Emergency Medical Technician… One thing that I don’t understand is why a BIG company such as State Farm would bully and take the opportunity to squash and pulverize me. Here is my recent experience dealing with State Farm and I hope a little voice like the one I am raising can one day help others.

PURCHASED ONLINE INSURANCE:
It’s MARCH 22ND 2011… I was excited that I was finally able to purchase one of the cars of my dreams (a used 2002 Mercedes CL500). Previously having had Geico, I had no problems with them but my fiancée and my best friend both have State Farm, so I decided that maybe I would give State Farm a try since insurance is insurance and they are one of the biggest insurance companies.
So, I jumped onto www.StateFarm.com … I filled out all of the details and questions to the best of my abilities, I even entered my Driver’s License so they could see my record transparently. After I finished getting a quote, I paid with my credit card over $320 and I printed out my Policy Binder with all of the policy information. Yey, that was easy!
Perfect, so I start to drive my car with confidence that I am fully covered… I install my baby daughter’s baby seat and start driving my daily driver CL500 =)

IN COMES THE WEEKEND!
It’s MARCH 26TH 2011… It’s a beautiful day for the BEACH in MIAMI and I jump into the car with my baby daughter and my friend visiting from New York for the weekend; and we head out to Miami Beach.

ACCIDENT:
On the expressway on our way to the beach, I run over a a construction metal lid on the floor of the expressway… since my car is on 22 inch wheels with very thin performance tires, it leaps and hits the floor hard and the wheel bends making me lose control, hitting a curb and initiating damage on the passenger side of my vehicle. I continue to move out of the busy Miami traffic and attempt to exit to the nearest exit with my car still completely out of wack… the only thing on my mind racing up and down is my 2 year old daughter’s safety (asking her consistently if she is ok). Finally, I am able to pull out on the exit of 8th street, still with limited control and the car pulling to the right tremendously and get out to assess the damage.
I get on the phone with State Farm and get a claim number. I get the car towed to a body shop close to where I live and resolve the day as an unfortunate day but thanking God that at least everyone was ok.

POST ACCIDENT:
I advise the body shop of my claim number and have them contact state farm to deal with the accident. The body shop personnel contact State Farm and are advised that the adjuster would be there the following day. Everyday almost throughout the week they got the same response from State Farm, that the adjuster would be out the next day.

NO COVERAGE:
ON APRIL FOOLS DAY (APRIL 1st 2011)… I get a call late afternoon (around 3pm) from the State Farm underwriting department cold heartedly advising me that my policy has been Rescinded (never even heard of that word in my life) and that they were not going to cover the claim nor pay for any damages on my car.
My mind goes into an endless spin and I lose my breath, asking “but why?”
1. I tell them that I had been driving for days assured I was insured…
2. I tell them that I paid, have not received refund and that they took my money…
3. I tell them that they issued me a policy number, constituting coverage…
4. I tell them that it’s been well over 9 days and I have received no calls, nor emails, nor text message, nor smoke signal regarding any intention that I was not covered…
How can this be? How can you have a system that issues policy numbers to drivers, asking them for pertinent information without instantly verifying or validating the caliber of driver you are looking for? Why does your system ask for a driver’s license number and social security number if you are not instantly going to validate the driver as you need to instantly?
State Farm:
- Are you falsely insuring driver’s on the road with no intention of paying for the claims?
- With what heart do you turn down hard working American’s days after they have been authorized by your system?
LAME EXCUSE AND ACTIONS TAKEN:
So I ask and the underwriter tells me that after reviewing my driving history they have decided to rescind… advising that the reason behind the decision was that I was guilty of a speeding ticket back in 2008… I say, IT CAN’T BE… I have no recollection of being guilty of any traffic violations; so she tells me that there is nothing else to be done, gives me no more information or detail and plainly says they are not covering my claim and to have a good day.

COMPLETELY CONCERNED after such a call, I check the Miami-Dade county clerk .gov site and I run my driver’s license through it. I look at my history and see that I have not been deemed guilty of any traffic violations and that the even the last Adjucation Withheld was in 2005(over 6 years ago).
I call back State Farm and advise this fact… they send me on a wild goose chase telling me to go and talk to the Agent to which my policy has been assigned: MATTHEW WESSLE 14653 SW 42nd Street Miami FL [protected]
I speak to my assigned agency pleading my case and letting them know that I filled the questionnaire to the best of my abilities and that the underwriter from State Farm told me such news. The agent says, “too bad there is nothing we can do” … “you were not truthful online”… “State Farm made a decision so that’s too bad” … I WAS APPALLED AND DISGUSTED … why are do Agencies even exist? Are they not there to stand up for their clients and gather facts aside from gathering money for their own benefit? If I am assigned to their agency for service, how can it be that they would not stand up and plea my case to the higher up and ups of the BIG corporation? They left me to lye and die alone on this one…
I do research and call [protected] and speak to Rob Rose (a big honcho at State Farm) and plea my case… he says he would look into it and call me back… he calls me back and tells me to contact my Agency as they have information… I again call and speak to my Agency and they again contact underwriting which says the same thing again… The agency again tells me it’s out of their hands and that there is nothing they can do.

STATE FARM:
1. YOU INSURED ME ONLINE

2. YOU TOOK MY MONEY

3. YOU GAVE ME A POLICY NUMBER

4. YOU TOOK MY DRIVERS LICENSE ONLINE

5. YOU ENCOURAGED ME TO DRIVE AN EXPENSIVE CAR ON THE ROAD WITH MY LITTLE DAUGHTER IN IT WITH NO INTENTION OF TRULY COVERING ME

6. YOU SEND ME NO NOTIFICATION, EMAIL, PHONE CALL REGARDING ANY VERIFICATION OR DENIAL OF COVERAGE

7. YOU GIVE ME A CLAIM NUMBER THE DAY OF ACCIDENT

8. YOU LEAD THE BODY SHOP ON ADVISING YOU WERE SENDING ADJUSTER

10. YOU CALL THE “INSURED” 10 DAYS LATER AND TELL THEM AFTER AN ACCIDENT THAT YOU WILL NOT COVER THEM BECAUSE OF SOME LOOP HOLE YOU HAVE DECIDED TO FIND.
THIS IS UNETHICAL, IMMORAL, DISGUSTING, APPALLING, MEAN… (IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!)
YOU…

STATE FARM…

ARE A BIG BULLY!

(COMING FROM A PERSON THAT WILL WORK TO SAVE LIVES FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER; "I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW YOUR COMPANY CAN ENJOY TAKING THE LIVES, WILL AND SPIRIT OF PEOPLE FOR GRANTED IN ORDER FOR YOU TO MAKE AND SAVE A FEW BUCKS..." )

1. DOES ANYONE HAVE AN ANSWER ON TO HOW I CAN RESOLVE THIS?

2. CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A GOOD LAWYER TO TALK TO ABOUT THIS?

3. SHOULDN'T THEY BE RESPONSIBLE COVERAGE UP UNTIL THEY NOTIFIED ME ON APRIL 1ST?

I cannot advise you on how to handle your case, but I have reason to agree with you that State Farm is a big bully and a fraud .About 3 weeks ago I had an accident, a frontal collision. Their policy holder hit my car yet they deny so, I have been in a constant struggle with them for 3 weeks because they have been very negligent of my case, because of course...they dont want to pay up. Their claim adjuster had appointed an estimator to come see my car yet he never came, I had to call about 3-4 associates to complain about their negligence because their claim adjuster wont pick up her phone or return my calls. A week later after I finally got in contact with her I told her of my situation and I was astonished at the fact that she told me that the estimate was suppose to be done already, giving me the understanding that not only is she just assuming they got the job done, that they are not keeping record of my case. I have also not received calls, emails nor any kind of notification on my estimate, I had to once again call the claim adjuster and yet again she didnt pick up the phone, so I had to speak to an associate and thats how I found out about my estimate. Im still in a struggle with them, so I had no choice but to go to my personal insurance and get my estimate and car loan paid from them because I have to go to college and I have job to attend to so I need this situation to be resolve. Whatever the outcome is if their is even one eventually, all I can say is that State Farm sucks and that hopefully one day someone with means will bring to light the fraud that State Farm is!

State Farm cancel insurance

First of all I had Allstate for years without any problems had to incidents in the past with them but they were pretty good about it its great insurance why did I change? I guess because I got a better deal with State Farm but what a mistake the was everything at the begging was good got a welcoming letter and everything but I guess they are just trying to make the numbers for the year all of the sudden I have no insurance what a nightmare they could not insure me because of the past incidents I had I just don’t get it when you sell insurance your suppose to check this things before not after that’s great customer service the way I found out was because I receive a letter on the mail call them left messages never got back to me kept on calling until I finally got someone telling me they were working on my case ? What case never been in a accident the incident was I drove with a suspended license something I dint know until a year after of driving when I got pulled over for running a red light well not finding out my license was suspended that’s my fault that I understand but just selling me insurance to make their goals that not cool at all worst experience ever, the owner of this company has people their working for them that really don’t know what their doing is pretty sad that ur just trying to make the numbers 

P.S Im not the only one who had problems with this insurance company in Stratford :(

I agree with Wpayton5599. Agents only represent the company. They do not instill the rules and underwritting guidelines. All insurance companies are not insuring to lose money. Of course they have a system in place, and that's what happened. Agent took your information and did his best to offer you coverage with a better company at a lower price and thats why you switched. Agent obviously didn't know your license was suspended or im sure he wouldn't have wrote your business. Underwritters took the information you provided to the agent and the information the agent provided to them and did a more extensive search. Give them a break, you were at fault for not providing that information to them. Now days everyone wants to complain and complain, sue and sue. Yet what is the bottom line? Im sure they have an office, how about you go speak to them in person and see how much they are trying to assist you. Remember you're probably not their only insured who they are assisting with their insurance needs.

Unfortunately, the agent is not privy to all of the information on your driving record. The agent can bind coverage as it seems he did, but after that the policy must be approved by the underwriting department. The underwriters can do a more extensive check on your driving record. When they completed the check they found that you drove on a suspended license. Unfortunately, that is your fault, not the agent's fault. You should have disclosed that information to the agent, and you could have avoided this situation. Sorry.

State Farm failure to pay legitame

Recently an individual with State Farm Insurance opened their car door and put a dent in the fender of my brand new Honda Accord. I waited for the person to come out of the store and I got her name and insurance information. I had one of your representatives look come to my home and look at my car. Their ruling was that there wasn't any evidence on her vehicle to show that she was responsible. Since it was the edge of her van door finding "evidence" left by my car would have been nearly impossible to find with the naked eye. I feel that this is just State Farm's way of getting out of paying for a legitimate claim. I'm now stuck with a $700 bill to repair a car that just left the showroom floor and had less than 700 miles on it. I had called the police when it happened but since it occurred on private property they didn't make a report. I will never consider becoming a State Farm customer and will recommend that everyone I know avoid them as well.

State Farm business tactics

I had been with State Farm for 27 years, had 9 policies. They informed me they were not renewing 4 of my policies that were not guaranteed renewable. Reasons given were 1) In the last 7, yes 7, years we had several claims totalling a payout of approx. $25000. They included 3 tows, a windshield broken by debris, a car break in, wind damage and a deer running into a car. There were 4 drivers on this policy. My daughter recently moved, they tolfd me and her it wouldn't affect her because she was no longer in the household. Today she received a call from State Farm informing her they were not insuring her after March 21. She has a vehicle that was parked, and due to mechanical failure it rolled down my drive and into the woods, they billed her as "chargeable" even though she wasn't in the car and it WAS in park. Is this the way someone is treated after 27 years?! I was informed that they were supposed to ask me if I was interested in "balloon" coverage I had never heard of this coverage. State Farm lost 10 policies due to their petty thinking, that I believe borders on illegal.

27 years is a long time, I would say you were a very loyal customer & could have taken your business elsewhere years ago. There are so many irresponsible drivers out there with numerous tickets & accidents, I find it insulting that they cancel you due things out of your control. I hope you find a company that gives you the respect that you deserve.

Would you insure you? it is a business...they're supposed to make money. I know I wouldn't insure you for that amount...even simple math..if you paid 2k a year for 7 years that would be 14k..and in that time you've had 25k in losses?

Wow they sure did you wrong, however it is expected you cost them money!
The problem now is that your claims that you had will make it harder for you to get other insurance carriers to cover you, yes they report that information.
Big brother wants to turn a profit and now they see you as a liability, too risky.
This happens a lot in the insurance world.

State Farm rhea baker with state farm is a rude insurance agent in vienna, va

I was shopping for insurance for my new car and I contacted Rhea Baker. When I first contacted her she was very friendly and I told her I would use her and her company. When I got my car and time came to do my paperwork I was excited but when I contacted Rhea she was never available and wasn't returning my messages. I started calling more often because I obviously needed insurance and when I finally got her on the line she yelled at me and said "I'll call you when I have a chance, I have many customers that need more than an auto policy and your policy isn't at the top of my f---ing priorities!" Needless to say I got my policy elsewhere but I couldn't believe how rudely I was treated by an agent with a reputable company.

State Farm denial of legitamate claim

denied our claim and treated us like we were the criminal by sending us to siu, unit and they had no reason to send us to that department there had never been a claim filed in the past years of being insured by them.. How do they get away with treating a victim as a criminal and one guy can just decide your fate. wether you are going to get paid, when you have already been through enough with being ripped off. then they are allowed to treat you this way! wish there was a class action against them cause it sounds like they do it non stop!

I realize that these posts are from 2011, but the original complaint is relevant in 2015; the person who commented above, stating that attorneys would be willing to take the case if you had one, is obviously a State Farm supporter. State Farm is a criminal organization, with billions to fight attorneys, and few will go up against them. State Farm will imprison all parties in endless litigation and appeals, and destroy your life in the process. State Farm writes fraudulent policies, they never intend to fully pay the claim, and our government officials are beneficiaries of their donations.

Trust me, if you had a case, and it is worth it, you would have attorneys willing to take the case. Winning a lawsuit against a company as large as State Farm is gold for an injury attorney. Can you elaborate on your issue? Maybe I can point you in the right direction. From reading what you have, I can't tell what State Farm did to you. These are just general accusations.

State Farm sneaky

While trying to file a homeowners claim in October (due to a theft), we discovered that our policy's deductable has doubled the month before. Our agent "played dumb" when I asked why it increased, and it wasn't until I called again, that he told me that everyones policy deductable had doubled and it was noted on my renewal the month before. (No other notification, just a note on the policy.)

Some agents attempted to contact their clients atleast 3 times...not my agent! He states that he called and left a message, but not so...I have an answering maching and caller ID... no call. Then I found out the day they supposadly called - funny thing, I was home, off work the entire day, because I had surgery the day before. Like I said, there was NO call.

Besides all that, in the same week surrounding the day they supposedly called, I have records of contact with them on 3 different occasions, because we were taking out another policy for liability insurance. Not once did they ever mention anything abouth the homeowners deductable.

After talking to several "higher ups" at State Farm, I got nowhere. Guess they are in their legal rights by just putting 2 lines on your policy. Shame on me for not looking it over, but I never imagined they could change that without approval.

So much for being with State Farm for over 20 years... when they decide to sneakly change something and there is no mandate on how agents notify clients, this is just poor business practice...but I'm sure losing one customer that gives them over $7000 a year is no big deal to them.

If anyone knows of anyway to go further with this, let me know.

Oh my god! I am so sorry that happened to you. I am glad you are alive.
If you are with State Farm, you should have an agent. Use that agent to be able to help you. It also sounds like your home is uninhabitable. Ask about loss of use coverage on your policy. I do not work for State Farm, but I do know a few things about the insurance business.
If you can't make any headway with your agent or claims, you most likely have a deductible. Use that deductible to hire your own engineer to remeasure. If the first engineer was off, make sure that State Farm deducts the cost for the second one from your claim. But, first try your agent.
Hope this helps.

Contact your agent immediately and request their assistance with the claims adjuster. That is what they are there for. They should help you out and get you an answer. The claims adjuster has you in a pend file, but until the pend pops up for him he probably won't call you.

State Farm screwed me

My son was hit by a school bus in another county. The bus came from a dead stop and pull in behind my son and hit his trailer. The crossing guard said she had her hand up stopping traffic. Everyone for the school got together and made their story the same and my son had 3 people with him say that the traffic guard didn't have her hand up stopping traffic. The police officer didn't issue a ticket saying no one was at fault however State Farm rulled my son was at fault. I ask you...how can a bus be at a dead stop waiting for traffic to clear, let the truck go by and pull out hitting the trailer being pulled by the truck and it not be his fault. The cop stated that no one was at fault and the insurance companies would have to sort it out. State Farm had insurance on both vehicles. My local agent agreed with me that the bus never saw the trailer, but I was told that he has no input in the claim at all. Doesn't sound like a "Good Neighbor" to me. I have been with State Farm for 34 years with very little claims so don't think they won't *** also. We have been fighting this for over a month and now I have been told this is final to get a layer if i want to go any further. Like I would get a layer to fight a $2000 claim. I am now searching for another insurance carrier and would advise everyone with State Farm to do the same. Don't think that just because you know your agent real well and you have been with them a long time that they won't ***. I have a good comercial for any other insurance company titled "How State Farm Will ***". They don't mind taking your money, but heaven forbid you put in a claim. I think what pissed me off more than anything is my agent agrees I am getting screwed and can't do anything about it.

instead of a layer, you should get better police officers out there. You said that he said it was "no fault". Kinda ends it all...

State Farm bias, failure to take my claim seriously

We got into a car accident in Baltimore, Maryland. We were completely stopped for over 20 seconds, waiting for opposite direction cars to pass, trying to make a turn into a Walgreens parking lot when Car B, hit our car, Car A, in the driver's side door. The driver of Car B admitted that he was trying to make a call on his cell phone and wasn't looking up at the scene of the accident. He was travelling behind us and failed to stop, or go around us. We both have Statefarm auto insurance. The accident took place on Saturday 9/18 at 2:45 pm. Police arrived at then scene and did not file a police report. We filed a claim with statefarm at approximately 3:30, and so did the driver of car B. At approximately 5 pm (all offices were closed and only phone operaters were at the offices) we received a call saying that they denied our claim against driver B, without receiving evidence or official statements. Statefarm changed the story 4 times, first saying that we cut across 2 lanes of traffic to get turn, then after they saw the evidence that it was a one lane street, they claimed that Car A blew a stop sign. After I showed them pictures of the scene of the accident showing no stop sign, they said that we blew a yeild sign. They never went to visit the scene of the accident, and only looked at a picture from google earth. After we denied doing anything wrong and showed no yeild sign near the scene, they again said that we made a turn from the right lane rather than the left lane. It is clear that it was driver B's fault, and they are showing him preferential treatment for whatever reason. We submitted approximately 10 pictures and have video evidence that there is only one lane in the street, and they are refusing to accept the claim when we are 100% sure that driver B was at fault. We are from New York, and if the accident took place in New York there would have been a police report describing exactly what happened, but since the Baltimore, Maryland police failed to file a report, there is no official evidence against us, nor driver B. Statefarm is not doing enough to fight for our claim, and are only fighting for driver B's claim against us. Car B was driving behind car A (ours) and hit us over 20 seconds after we were stopped waiting to make our turn. We want to file an official complaint against all agents involved with this claim, and against the driver of car B, for lying about the accident, and fraud. If and when they finally find fault in driver B, then we would like to file a legal suit for fraud on their part, bias, and for all the stress, agrevation and time that was spent on it

State Farm denied claim

Agent forgot to include "roof collapse" on new policy. Roof collapsed, claim denied "no roof collapse coverage". Agent admitted her error but State Farm still denied claim. I'm still trying to work with them but it's not looking toward my favor. State Farm failed me.

You may have a case here. If the agent is willing to accept responsibility, work with them. Call that agent and inform them that you had the coverage before and you should have it now. This is an agent error and can be dealt with. Keep on it! The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

State Farm low bodily injury offer

I was in a car accident the morning of June 15th, 2010. I was not at fault. The other driver claimed fault and the police report faulted her. We both have State Farm insurance. This happened in Mishawaka Indiana.
I went to the ER that day with chest and neck pain. Followed up with my family doctor because the neck pain didn't go away after a few days. The chest pain ended up being from my seatbelt and left me with a huge, horrible black and purple bruise on my breast. You could actually see the material lines from the seatbelt in my bruise. I did take pictures.

I went to a Musculoskeletal Specialist and began physical therapy sessions hoping this would relieve my pain. After 5 sessions, no relief so they sent me for an MRI. The MRI showed degenerative disc disease that was aggravated by the car accident. I am a healthy 40 year old woman. I work as a florist. I am also a belly dancer. My medical history will show, I don't go to the doctor unless I'm feeling really bad. This car wreck has ruined everything. I felt great before the wreck, I could work with no pain...I could belly dance with no pain. NOW I work and I'm in constant pain...my belly dancing has had to suffer. I cannot dance the way I did before the wreck.

The accident happened on my daughters 19th birthday so that ruined all our plans. My first grandchild was born two weeks before this wreck...I didn't get to spend the time I had planned to spend with my grandchild because I was in pain and going to doctors appointments all the time.

My car was a total loss and State Farm was very fair on their offer concerning that.

I only had to take off one day from work because I only work two days a week and I scheduled my doctor appointments on my off days or on my lunch hours.
After the MRI and my diagnosis they sent me to a pain management specialist. Since the wreck I had prescribed to me, vicodin, flexeril and lyrica. The pain management specialist is pushing me to get the shots in my neck. I am afraid of this! Right now, I'm coping with just the vicodin. I've never been a person to take pills for anything. I hate relying on pills to make me feel halfway decent. But, shots in my spine? I had THREE natural childbirths because I was afraid to get an epidural. So, now they want me to get one in my neck?
My work and dance life was great before this accident. Now, I'm hurting constantly...now with the weather getting cold, the pain is worse! I feel like I'm 80!

My medical bills totaled $3000. They were all paid by State Farm. I have no medical insurance and going to the doctor is something I don't do, I can't afford it. So, now I am forced to go and reached the medical pay limit of $3k. State Farm told me to continue to go to the doctor if I need to and their bodily injury/pain and suffering settlement would go to pay more doctor bills. OK, to me, that's like gambling. I had no clue what State Farm was going to offer me and I don't want to rack up more medical bills hoping State Farm offers me a decent, fair settlement to cover future medical bills.

Well, State Farm called me yesterday and offered me $1000 for my bodily injury/pain and suffering. Are they serious? That is ridiculous. I wanted to do this by myself and not get a lawyer but $1000?
I told the State Farm adjuster I would write out a letter with all my details and my request for a settlement amount. She was very polite and said ok. My question is...what is a fair amount to ask for?

I might add that I didn't go to a chiropractor, I went to specialists.

State Farm state farm did not pay for the repairs of my stolen car

I woke up one morning in the fall of 2009 to drive to class (was in college at the time) and after a few surreal minutes of walking around trying to discover where my car was, I realized it was most likely stolen. Three weeks prior to this, my car was broken into, window smashed, and my GPS was stolen. This time, I had hid my values and any traces of my values inside my apartment. Well anyways, I went into the police station to put the issue on file, got a ride to class, and soon after got the call from the cops saying that my car was indeed stolen and that they found it. I was later picked up that same day by the police and was driven to a graveyard where my car was found. When I got in it to drive it home, I instantly noticed that the transmission was damaged. My 5th gear and reverse did not work at all (I was no longer able to switch into those gears (It went from working very smoothly to not working at all (standard transmission). Now I had owned this vehicle for 5+ years prior to it being stolen and never had ANY problem with switching gears. I bring my car into a transmission shop to get it evaluated. So now its time for me to call the claim into State Farm, my car insurer, (yes I had collateral coverage), and have a State Farm rep come to inspect my car. Here's the deal. If they (State Farm) do not see any proof that my vehicle was recently damaged (from the crook), then they don't see any reason to cover my repair bill. There was no proof of my car being broken into or hot wired. Well, it was obviously wired since my window was not smashed. There was also no proof that I didn't leave my car unlocked before it was stolen. Listen, at the time of this happening I lived in an EXTREMELY bad area (near where I went to school). I have NEVER left my car unlocked. However, how could I prove that I did or did not lock my car either way? That is insane. So 1: they (the car shop and the State Farm rep) could not see any evidence that my car was abruptly damaged, but only that it was damaged. And 2: I could not prove that my car was actually stolen and I cannot prove that I had locked my car. This is what they are telling me at State Farm! So from their perspective, they can imagine that I just get a kick out of damaging my car and leaving it in a graveyard during a stressful finals week. That I love having to bother someone to come out of their way to pick me up to go to class because my car is gone. That I love to ruin a perfectly good car. This news was very painful for me to deal with. I felt very hurt that they were not taking care of me when I pay good money in case this sort of thing happens. State Farm essentially stole from me. Anyways, State Farm did not cover any of my very expensive bill to fix my transmission...Like a good neighbor State Farm is there? If state farm was my neighbor id move out.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated..

I am really sorry that happened to you. It is rather difficult to determine what caused your transmission to slip. It is a result of mechanical failure and may not be actually caused by the theft. You can, however, appeal the insurance company. They should have sent you a denial letter which tells you how to appeal. If you don't get satisfaction from the appeal, contact the Department of Insurance in Connecticut. Maybe you will have some luck! Hope this helps.
