"unauthorized credit card charges"
On 9/8/2017 I went to the Steak n Shake in Muncie, IN and was concerned I did not receive my debit card back from the drive through window when I got home. I called and they said they did not have it. I thought I lost it myself until I checked my account and had another charge from steak n shake. My order was only 5.39 and another charge showed up after for 14 dollars. I was given the money back by the bank, but wanted to let someone know to prevent it from happening again. Thanks.
hamburgers and mustard relish

Stopped on our way to Illinois from Alabama, remembering the Great Hamburgers at Steak N Shake as we were growing up in Illinois!, the burgers were not smashed like in the older days and the mustard relish was not the same as back then!
If you are going to be just like everybody else, I will not be stopping at Steak N Shake again! Remember what got you where you are, because this is going to be the end of you if you continue with this trend!

I came through the drive through of the Hixson TN steak and shake between 2-230 am after getting off work from my ambulance shift, I ordered a number 14 with no mayo and mustard and cheese fries. Upon getting to the window, I asked the worker(ken/cane) how he was, no response, just took my payment and shut the window. After getting home, there's no cheese and the burger has mayo and mustard. The food is cold. After working a long tiring shift I wanted good food but that didn't happen!

An order was placed at the drive-thru on 9/10/17 at 6:54 p.m.. Upon pulling up to the window, the employee at the window was conversing with someone inside the store and handed out the order without any words of acknowledgment.
Once home, we discovered runny shakes, soggy fries and very greasy sandwiches (grilled cheese and burger).
We patronize this Steak n Shake location several times a month, and are pleased the majority of the time. Unfortunately, there was nothing satisfying about this particular visit.

chicken tenders
I went to Steak 'n Shake today and ordered chicken tenders and fries through the drive thru. When I got home to eat them I was very disappointed to the see the chicken "tenders" were actually the size of chicken nuggets. I feel like I got ripped off and it was not nearly the amount of food I was expecting. I hope you all can fix this problem and either get normal sized chicken tenders or start calling them nuggets. Attached below is a picture of them next to a car key so you can see how small they are. Thank you.

I'm complaining about about a host at the Barboursville location she was so rude. My family and I went today and she was rude. We had to wait five minutes before she even came to seat us and when she wen to seat us she said she couldn't because there wasn't seats. There only 3 of us. She seated a table of 25 and 25 and we were there first so we got mad and left. She needs to be fired. Today isn't the only day that she's been rude. Last we were there she was rude. She sucks st her job. And you lost just business to us until she is gone. We would eat there all the time. But not anymore until she's fired or different position. She's a short fat girl. I believe her name is Chelsea.

We are located in Springfield, MO. The Steak and Shake that has issues is the one 1158 E . St.Louis street . We have given this location plenty of chances because it is so close to where we leave so it is more convenient than others.
They have waitresses that cuss / use profanity jokingly under their breathe. The place is extremely unkept . Fries on the floor, 3 waitresses today were standing around joking and talking and the floor is disgusting, with tables that haven't been cleared. This time was the final straw . Our orders every single time are wrong in some way. We were using curb side service last time and my husband's burger was wrong, my shake was half made with the chocolate and what not missing, we got plain fries instead of the herbs and cheese fries, AND they forgot all the dressing. The waitress hen replied "[censored], [censored] " and went back inside .
Then wrote "tip" on the receipt ...as if we were going to give her one . I've been a waitress for a long time before and you check the orders before you take them. Common sense .
Today, I got a black berry shake and asked if they put in the chocolate like it is supposed to have. They said yes. We drove off because we were in a hurry and sure enough, no chocolate . It's just non stop with this store and it needs to be brought to attention. I don't normally take the time to do this but they all act like they are in a daze without a care in the world . We waited 15 minutes (only 2 small tables come to find out with customers inside and 3 waitresses just talking) ...so we went inside and said we had been waiting 15 minutes.
"Oh. Okay, well what DO YOU WANT ?"
No apology.
Just make a surprise visit to this junky place and you will be furious with how they are running the store .
bad service, incorrect menus, multiple incorrect orders
Yesterday I was dining at the Southern Plaza location and I had a really horrible experience. This was my first visit to this particular location. The menu was different and much smaller than I remember. Two of the things that I ordered were no longer carried at this location but I was still in the system. My order was all the way back to the cook before I was made aware of the problem, When my orders came they were incorrect and prepared badly. Even after I reordered. I was sent the wrong items, then my others oder was also not prepared correctly when i did receive the correct items. Never did receive the right meals because it took so long, that I had to go. I have been coming here for lunch since I was a child and have never been served so poorly. My server was very polite but the service just was not good. I did receive a few dollars off of my meal but as i said, i did not want any of the food i was served nor did my guest.
incredibly poor dining experience
My husband and I went to the Grandville, MI location Saturday evening around 11 for what we thought would be a fun quick late night date. We were really disappointed with our visit. We ordered a regular chili cheese fry and 2 shakes. She brought us out 2 small plates of fries so we thought she had split our order for us, but when our bill came we were charged for both. In addition, we sat for a long time without our shakes. We had to catch her attention to check our order and she said the order never went through. We asked for them to go and it took at least 15 minutes for them to come out. The service was minimal and very slow.

We came in tonight to the elk grove location. Ordered the chili mac and it was soooo spicy and no meat. When told to the manager on duty she couldn't find the discount card to give me. So basically I was SOL!. The sever said he didn't know why it was spicy and did he would mention it to the kitchen. It was wet and sauced with no meat well 3 small pieces. I am blown away that she wouldn't even take it off or even discount us. We come 1 time a week every Saturday night. I will reconsider this decision next week. Highly disappointed. I have attached a picture of it. I asked everyone at my table to try and they all said the same thing. When I pointed it out in the menu she didn't know how this can happen. What a joke
triple bacon cheeseburger
I visited the new place in locust grove, ga for the 1st time. I was on my way to pick my son up from football practice and I knew he would be hungry. At the top of the menu board at the drive thru. It said new single, double and triple bacon cheese burgers. The girl told me they no longer have the triple. I told her it's out here on the board and it says new! She argued with me that I could not order the triple but I could still order the single and double. I finally just ordered the double thinking how stupid that was that they just couldn't add one more peiece of meat to satisfy the customer. To me, this is false advertising and your manager at this location is not keeping your signs up-to-date

I visited the Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY location around 2330 on September 8th, 2017. Myself and two other vehicles waited in line at the drive through of this 24 HOUR location for well over 20 minutes just to be told they were closed, yet someone was at the window waiting for their food with vehicles in the parking lot as well. The guy offered no explanation and refused to speak any more beyond a very rude "we're closed" I attempted to call the store and they had disconnected the phone. If their store hours have changed then it should be reflected on the doors and the lights should be off to the drive through. The overall customer service is always atrocious with 30+ minute waits each time but unfortunately this is the only "24 hour" restaurant on this side of the city and there are no Whataburgers in Kentucky. Some serious retraining should be considered of the night shift of this particular location.
food, upkeep and service: getting worse and worse
I have been a longtime patron of the Ann Arbor MI restaurant. After reading some of the recent comments from others, it seems clear that this is an organization that really doesn't give a damn whether its customers are satisfied or not. I was going to write directly to corporate, but of course, there's no contact information for Customer Service anywhere on line.
Most of the waitstaff are friendly but are poorly trained, if at all. They almost NEVER check back once they plop the food down. Need a drink refill? Forget it, unless you go up to the grill and ask for your server.
Think you'll just remind them to check back, when they drop off your food? Nice try. They still don't come back.
Cleanliness? I always bring wet wipes with me to wipe down the ketchup squirt bottles. They are grimy and filthy and seem like they are never cleaned off.
Extra napkins for a messy burger? Not unless you remember to ask. Two or three times.
Worst of all, if you express to the server that you tried to catch their eye for ten minutes and they never once looked around, they will give you a blank stare. Apology? Don't hold your breath.
Solution: Never going back.
carry out experience
The manager threw my food at me with attitude when I received my carry out order. When my food was brought to me I did not appreciate the attitude I was given when my food was given to me. I understand that the restaurant was busy but I did not need nor want the frustrated tone I received from the manager upon the reception of my order. Compensation is not necessary, just an attitude check.

I ordered a Taco Salad.
It came with Bowl full of Lettuce, few diced tomatoes, Shredded Cheese, a Torn up Hamburger and with a small dolop of Sour Cream on top and then topped with red tortilla strips. Presentation-Fabulous; Flavor- Very Dissapointed!
I have to say this was the driest, most tasteless salad I have eaten. I would suggest crumbled hamburger and al least offer sometime of salad dressing (like Ranch or French) or salsa .

I visited the Race road location on Sunday the third. I ordered from the front counter and as I was waiting for my order to be made I watched the woman on grill touching raw meat then taking the cooked burgers and putting toppings on them with the same gloves! I couldn't see her name well enough but it started with an S and she looked old enough to know better than to do something that gross. So disappointed and I won't be coming back.

Anna a manager leaving in mid shift and returning only to sit in the back .. Ive seen her do this many times. How infuriating not only for the paying customers but also for her team shes supposed to be managing. Very unproffesional..
On several occasions ive witnessed this "manager" be on site but never helping anyone. She stays hidden in the back at all costs. She will leave and return only to resume sitting in the back. When she does come out she has a nasty attitude and ive seen her treat other employees like crap just bc she has to be there. I cant stand it anymore and am unlikely to go back until she is gone. Its really sad someone in such a higher up position is allowed to bend rules and treat people like crap. Way to go steak and shake. Letting [censor] like her run the store is what makes for a bad experience. After all if your lead is an [censor] ypu probably will be too
product quality
Visited location #340 in Merrillville, IN. on 9-4-2017, Ordered two sandwiches, fries, chili and shake to take home for my family. I never saw the cook make my food. Instead I got my bag of food that suddenly appeared from the back. It appears they are pre-making the food in order to speed up the service. Instead we got "Steak" burgers that were cold on soggy buns, and limp cold fries. The chili was OK but all they have to do is spoon that out. The shake was OK but it didn't arrive until 10 minutes after the food. A bad experience that I will not repeat, I am done with Steak-n-Shake.

Very unprofessional to post stuff like this in social media. All she does is complain about tips and her job online. At least she received a tip. Maybe that $100 had to last them an entire month and that was the only time out they could afford? I am surprised she still has a job. She gives terrible service. This store is going down hill very fast...

My two boys and I were looking forward to our yearly trip to Detroit to watch a few baseball games and go to their favorite restaurant "Steak n Shake". The baseball was great unfortunately we only made one trip to Steak n Shake this year as the service was extremely poor!
We were happy to see that it wasn't busy as their were only 5 tables with customers and we were first in line. I noticed that almost all of the other tables were dirty but I did see two that were open and clean. Not only did 3 different staff members walk past us but not one said it'll just be a minute. After 15 minutes we were seated. Another customer started yelling that he had been waiting for his food for 45 minutes. I thought this unusual as service is usually very prompt! I didn't see any cars at the drivethrough.
At the end of the day we arrived at the location at 3:50 and received our food at 5:00. I paid for our food at 5:30 and if you can believe it we did not receive our two shakes until 5:35PM! It took an hour for 3 burgers and 90 minutes for 2 shakes...
The man screaming was refunded his money. I wasn't even offered an apology. I witnessed 1 waitress crying and our waitress wouldn't even make eye contact or barely acknowledge us.
Very unsatisfied.
