frisco melt, fries and service
The drive thru took an eternity. I understand yours is slower than most, but 20 minutes with only two lines in front of me is a little excessive. But that's not even close to the reason I'm complaining. I decided after hearing my total for one burger, and because I had the time to contemplate during those twenty minutes of sitting in my car, that I wanted to make my order a meal. I told the worker at the window and he said he'd have to add that on in a very unprofessional manner. After getting my bill, I noticed it was two dollars more than the menu price. When I asked him about it, he said it was because he had to add the drink and fries on separately. He said it wasn't possible for me to ring it up as a meal since I didn't say it back at the menu ordering stage. I worked in the food industry for multiple years on a variety of systems, and I'm positive that could not be the case for a system as large as steak and shakes must be. Plus, I've changed my mind many a time in a drive thru line and no other restaurant seems to have a problem doing this. And not only did he overcharge me by two dollars, he said I would need to come in to get a refund. Obviously that was an extra inconvenience, cause if I wanted to get out of my car and come in, that's what I would've done in the first place instead of sitting in a drive thru for twenty minutes burning my gas. But it gets better. After entering, I had to stand at the register for a good 3 minutes before any of the many workers acknowledged me. And once, what I presume was, the manager came over, there was no hello or how are you. I got the distinct impression that during The time I was parking and walking inside, every one of your employees was badmouthing me. Best part? Your manager couldn't even give me a full discount. I'm fairly certain not one in the place knew how to use a register. She just refunded me a soda "cause that's the closest amount to what we owe you." How about just refunding me the difference? Or refunding me all of it and then having me repurchase the proper amount? Who knows? I'm not the manager and it appears common sense doesn't exist at steak and shake. I could at least be comforted in the food though, right? Wrong. Fries were stale, cold and flavorless. Burger was just pure Frisco sauce. It was enough to convince me never to return, unless I have a hankering for disgusting food and even worse service.
freshness of food
Steak 'n Shake is one of my favorite burger restaurants, and the main reason is because of the freshness of the food. The past couple times I have went to Steak n' Shake, my food has not been fresh. I thought it was a one time thing, but it was not. The fries have not been fresh, and have been really soggy. I know it sounds like a small thing, but I just believe that if I am guaranteed fresh, it should be with the entire meal.

After finding the job posting on Indeed for a manager position at your Cape Coral location, I filled out the questionaire which directed me to talent reef after. I filled out the exact same info then, and after finishing about 15 minutes worth of info the docu sign said my password was incorrect. I reset it and tried again.. 30 minutes later it still would not work. Is there anyone I can send my resume to?

Waited over an hour for our food, after 45-50 minutes went by I just asked for it to-go. After receiving it to go (20 mins later) it was burnt and charred to a point where it almost wasn't edible (my dog certainly enjoyed it.) I will never return to Steak 'n Shake in st.augustustine, FL again. The first bite I took was charred and gritty. I asked my husband to try his (he is very easy going and NEVER complains about a thing) he told me he's never endured a burger so charred it tasted as if they had burnt rubber around it, sloppily thrown on condiments on a bun.

This store has been going down hill for awhile now... I have been going to this store about once a week for the past several years now and my service has been increasingly worse over the past 5 months. This is my first complaint because tonight was the worst I've seen yet. I was in line at the drive-thru at approx 11:30 pm with 5-7 cars in line and about 6-10 patrons inside; the store manager decided to close the entire restaurant down because you guys "don't have a third shift". Mind you this is a 24 hour restaurant... the only one in town.. and it's closing down because they can't find enough ppl to work. Nevertheless the manager proceeds to sarcastically offer me a job and then tells everyone in line to leave; some customers still have yet to receive their order!
Steak and shake needs to address both management and line workers at this facility before it becomes critical. I will be taking my company's business elsewhere until your issues are fixed.

breakfast hours
It is absolutely ridiculous that You no longer will serve breakfast before 6:00 a.m. My husband and I travel a lot and frequently stopped at your restaurant in the early morning hours for breakfast. Usually the places might have a few customers at those hours but never enough where it would make it difficult for a cook to serve a breakfast. I quess we will have to find a Denny's or Cracker Barrel, but wish you would reconsider this policy.

We are traveling on our way to Branson Thurs evening and stop for a quick burger. Not exactly. Two waitresses are bickering about who is waiting on our table. Food was good when received.p, but the 'Shakes to go order' was a joke. We waited so long we moved to the entrance to expedite our departure. All food had been paid for in advance or we would have left. Justice tells us our shakes are being made when a server speaks to Justic stating, "There is a 'back log' at the shake machine and customers are upset in the ding area". We were just lied too. Justice then recovers and offers to go make the shakes himself. This is appauling! Order 712374 was a disservice to the corporation.

My children love to come to steak n shake we were coming home from downtown and we stopped at the Steel yard commons steak n shake in ohio for a late night dinner and ice cream when during our meal there was screaming yelling going on in the back of restaurant.. next thing i knew our waitress was being thrown out the front door by another employee. I was scared for the safety of My family so we decided to get up pay and leave food and all behind. We had not received our bill yet.. so it took a few mins to find manager and get it paid. I was very upset that my young kids had to witness this kind of behavior between grown adults. It was bad enough after we waited for a while before we were greeted by our waitress that there were no chicken tenders and sprite for the kids to eat because of being sold out. This was the worst experience ever in a restaurant I will definitely not return at that location.

Came to steak and shake drive thru in Arlington Texas arbrook location 76015 I arrived in the drive thru at 11:42 it is now 12:18 and iam still not at the window I'm literally writing this complaint as I wait in the drive thru for a milkshake and fudge brownie this is the worst drive thru experience ever. I have this much time in your drive thru to write a compaint should raise concern I will not be back to steak b shake this is unexceptional
getting laid off and over working with out pay
My name is Glen clinical and I work for this company for a year now and I feel like I been cheated out of money and it feels like I got laid off for no reason at all. I done everything for this store to better it up in a way and I haven't got paid for my work and when I hit over time I had to work off the clock under someone else's name and I felt like I was treated unfairly my owe time there
attempted to have lunch there today, after 35 min waiting in the drive thru I still didn't have, food or drinks. left with nothing.
Got there at 1215 pm today, 8/1/17. ordered 2 #10 combo meals with a black raspberry choc chip shake for 1 meal and a choc peanut butter shake for the other. After waiting 20 min in line a lady came back and said ok that was 1 burger and fries, no drink, right? I said no, that isn't even close to what we ordered, and repeated the order. Oh, I have the wrong order up was all she said. I said you know what I would like my money back, I am not going to have time to wait for you to start over. She asked for my receipt, I reminded her she didn't give me one. She then said she couldn't give me my money back with out it. I again told her she didn't give it to me. She shut the window. Now I have been sitting at the window for 30 min and a different girl comes to the window and asked me to AGAIN repeat my order. I asked for my money back, at this point I am very mad, no food, my lunch break is over and I'm going to be late getting back to work. I ended up pulling up, getting out of my car and going into the restaurant, walking into the kitchen and DEMANDED MY $16 BACK. She opened the register in about 3 seconds and gave me my cash back so I could leave. Never again. The only desirable resolution I can think of is to hire a new staff, I really don't care what happens to them, I just don't want anyone else to be treated like I was.

I went to your store on Mcnaughten in Columbus Ohio and it was the worst service ever. While ordering my food I felt rushed so I asked the lady was she having a bad day and she ignored me. I went on to ask for the manager and told her the situation and she never apologized at all. She handed me my food and my fries were awful as well as my son's chicken tenders. I asked for fresh food and she just slammed the window. I went in to retrieve my food and they hadn't even remade it so I asked for my money back and left.
Oh and when I returned my son's chicken tenders he started crying. So i got fed up, first these people at Steak-n-Shake gave me bad service and during the whole car ride home my son was crying. As soon as I got out of the car I started yelling at him, and swearing at him. I told him I had enough and hit him and told him to stay outside and locked him out of the house. Unfortunately I was too angry to notice my neighbor was working in her garden. She took my son inside her house and she had no right to interfere with how I discipline him.. She asked if I hit him before and he told her. Then she called social services who is threatening to take him form me if I do not get help.
overall service
My roommates and I used mobile ordering to get our food as quickly as possible last night. We arrived about 10 minutes late to pick up our food. The food was bagged up, but only half of it was there. A server and manager stood at the register for 15 minutes before helping us in getting our orders. A milkshake and cheese sauce for some fries took over an hour to get to us. We will not be returning to the Bay Lake, Florida branch.

We are at the Steak and Shake on Colwater Rd in Ft Wayne, IN. The place was filthy dirty. All the tables in the restaurant had dirty dishes on them. Everyone standing around. They were a little busy
But at rush time should be prepared
It took us half our to get our food. It was cold sent it back. Server said when she returned. I cooked this it will be good ? Why did she do it ? And it was. After meal went to restroom. Toilet paper everywhere. And horribly dirty. I thought to myself. If the restroom looks like this. What does the kitchen look like. I am a restaurant owner myself. And I know what should be happening. We normally eat at the store in Auburn, In .always clean and professional. Our server even gave us coupons out of her pocket. Because we were not happy ? Her name was Candy it said Trainer ?. I will never visit this location again. Very disappointed !
service and waiting time
We were in Portage MIUS 0248 headed to vacation and thought we would stop in and get a bite to eat. Well turns out that we had to wait at least an hour to get our food. The people who ordered and picked up were of course served first, then the drive ups were second. The people who were in the sit down were last. Only 2 waitresses in the dining room. They were very efficient for being very busy. Either get more employees to assist with meals or get a better system. The manager was apologizing to everyone. We should have walked out.

You owe me Money. Please credit me. I have used the credits when earned before without problems. I don't understand why there's a problem this time. Also on previous visits had requested and paid for Parmesan herb on fries and never seem to get it.
drive through service
Ordered food at a drive through. Only person in the drive through. Got told they were out of multiple items I ordered so had to resort to other items. Then got told to pull forward until food came out. Been waiting for 20 min. Had 5 cars behind me drive past. Still nothing. This is absolute horrible and unacceptable service and if my card hasn't been charged I would have left already.
poor service and long wait
On 7/29/17, my family of 6 visited the Steak n shake #542. We were greeted by a waitress who took our drink order and return 15 mins later only to ask us if she had taken our order yet. So she takes our order and we LITERALLY waited over a hour and half for our food. Contact the manager during the wait and she advised that this location was the busiest location in the area. We let her know that this was a fast food facility and if the waitress had warned us of the wait, we would have left. From this point forward, our waitress never returned. We did not receive refills on our drinks and the ice had melt in ever last drink before we received our food. The manager did bring fries to try and compensate us for the wait but there isn't much you can offer when someone waits 90 minutes for fast food. Finally, our food was brought out and it was wrong and the receipt was wrong as well. I notice on the receipt that the order time did not reflect the time we initially place the order so it appears they waited to enter the order in their system. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at any fast food chain, let alone Steak n Shake. I doubt seriously if I'll ever go to any Steak n Shake ever again.

food and cleaness cook time and hairs
I don't think you will change or say much to the store. I don't go to your franchise very often because the following issues have been in every restaurant. Taking over 45 minutes to get food and others after me served first. Hairs in my burger or other food at everyone I visited. Could not wash hands due to toilet brush in sink at one place and mop head in sink at another location. Toilets have not been cleaned on bottom or back ledge in months. Floor was so greasy I almost fell 3 times getting to restrooms and watched employ slip and almost go down due to grease on floor so he put a wet floor sign on one area. You need scream shoppers at all locations or replace management in corp office cause someone is not doing their job and you need to start at top with so many locations effected. I will not spend any more of my hard earned money in a place that cares less about its customers.
