Stop & Shop Bad attitude

Groton store, which I boycotted after they broke the law by not honoring their own sales postings - I have been giving them a 2nd chance.

I used self-checkout: it is not intuitive & I had to ask for help 3 times. (Produce items not displayed. "Misfire" for lack of a better word - it locked up. Sales prices were not ringing up.)

The woman was rude - maybe impatient is a better word but I was not pleased with her attitude.

Not sure this place deserves another chance. There is nothing really about the store that draws me back.

Recommendation: Suggest other/future customers try a different market.

Stop & Shop Stay away from neptune city stop and shop if you are handicap!

My wife and I have been shopping at the Neptune City Stop and Shop since it opened in the late Nineties. As the prices went up, we spent more. Stop and Shop took over a Foodtown store and we were happy they retained a lot of the workers. My wife suffers from MS, cancer and is committed to a wheelchair. I am a former Mayor of Neptune township and crossed city lines to shop there. In the last couple of years we have been spending between $300 and $500 dollars a week for groceries and most of the cashiers are very gracious in helping me bag and always an offer of help especially from Josephine, Matteo, Chris and always a wave or smile from most workers. About 3 weeks ago in the beginning of July 2024 we were Faced with a miserable cashier by the name of Starr who I thought at first was having a bad day, so I let her attitude go. When we shop, I push my wife's wheelchair and pull a basket behind me. You cannot miss us. On the 16th of August we were faced once again with Starr who when I gave her my bags, threw them at the end of the carousel, so I proceeded to load the belt until she told me I had to stop and start bagging. As my wife is not capable to help most cashiers will help until I load all groceries. Not This person. when I finished loading I proceeded to bag, Starr wanted my card and took my money and while my groceries were still on the belt she proceeded to ring out the next customer who had to place his groceries in his bag on the floor because I was still bagging. My groceries that day came to $368.98. After putting my wife and groceries in the car I returned to find no one at the Customer counter but did find a young manager in the produce section. He acted like he never saw me even though any time we see him we say hi. I told him the story and he seemed disconnected and mumbled he would speak to her. Starr would not even come out and scan my water and drink I told her about under my cart, so the cahier next to her offered to do it. Never in all the years we have shopped in that location have we been treated that terrible. I sent a letter to Stop and Shop Corporate on August 19, 2024 and to the Manager of record at the store the same day and have heard nothing. We have lived 15 miles away in Lakewood New Jersey for the last 6 years, and traveled to this store ever week spending money on tolls and gas and will not shop there again or for that fact any Stop and Shop Store. We now save that money and Shop at Shoprite in Bricktown.

Recommendation: If you are Handicap, do not shop at the Neptune City NJ store

Stop & Shop A gem in New Rochelle

The other day after moving back to New Rochelle I shopped in the store and I found a hidden jewel in that store. She was a wonderful and caring cashier. There was an elderly man in front of me and she was so patient with him. She helped him pack his bags and then asked if they were to heavy and he said no. She also told him to put his money away first. Then it was my turn and I had a trouble with the app and she helped me not only getting my digital coupons but explained to me how to use my points and informed me that I had 10 dollars coming to me, she showed me how to download them. She is a true gem, Her name is Natalie. Keep her and so not lose her, She should be rewarded for her hard work.

Recommendation: If you shop there go on her line

Stop & Shop Customer service

Stop and shop in howard beach is the worst their manager in the morning and their worker terrible customer service telling me I have $7 in the bank when I went to get a money order really how do they know how much money I have . This stop and shop is the worst . They should train their employees right laughing at me I’m front of the manager and she’s just standing there doing nothing .if that was me I would of told her to go home .very unorganized supermarket. gave a one star should of been a o .

Recommendation: O will never shop in their again lost me as a customer I’m in the neighborhood 22 years lost my business 🧑‍💼

Stop & Shop Found metal staple in food

My son was eating the stop and shop shoe string french fries and found a staple in his fries and almost bit it it's the kind of staples used with a staple gun I am not very happy because I just got him to start eating different things because he's been a difficult eater now he's complaining about fries please contact me in regards to this I don't want it to happen to someone else

Claimed loss: I have not made any more of the package

Desired outcome: I'm not sure I just don't want to talk about the issue with anyone but I'd like some type of compensation for the trouble I'm having convincing my son to try new things to eat

That’s not just unacceptable — that’s dangerous. A staple in your kid’s food could’ve ended in a trip to the ER. You’re completely right to raise hell over this. Keep the evidence, file a formal complaint with corporate and your local health department. They need to know this isn’t just about your son — it’s about preventing the next kid from bleeding because of their negligence.

Stop & Shop customer service at self checkout

I went in to purchase two items. I also bought a third. 10lb Ice
Lactose Free 2% milk, and I also bought bird food.
I used the wand customer code off the card [protected] 9
When I went to check out for what seemed like the fourth time in the last two months, the machine requested an audit. What I thought was why a person with three items totaling 20 bucks would trigger an audit surprised me, I don't know, but so be it. When the person came to me, she said I did not scan the lactose milk, although it showed on the screen. She took it out of the bag, did her magic, and I paid and went home.
I am now at the point where your store on the post road in Fairfield, CT, "the Circle," I refuse to shop ever again. My wife has long since come to this conclusion, but it now becomes clear to me that your store is poorly run and does not, at this juncture, seem to care about the customer.

Some background I was in the retail business for 45 years, of which many were in the grocery side. I consult, and my consultation for you is that you get a manager to be at the front end and constantly checking why and how the audits are completed. I would also give a class to each of the associates who work the self-checkout on how to handle issues. They are ill-prepared. I love the fact that your store hires local people, and I love the location, but the store is hard to shop in and, in my opinion, badly run. Currently, I would not recommend shopping at this particular S and S

Stop & Shop pharmacy

They are supposed to have delivery in Winsted, CT. 50% of the time, they don't show up. They are not delivering pizza, this is peoples medication. In some cases it is the only thing keeping them alive. Today, if they don't show up again, I will end up in the emergency room. This has got to stop!
Today is May 15, 2025. I have been waiting over 24 hours for my meds.

Desired outcome: Tell them to get their act together. Many people in my building have already changed pharmacies because of this.

Stop & Shop Grocery delivery service

Every week I order grocery delivery and since the Naugatuck, CT store started using Instacart for delivery, I receive over packed bags of groceries. The bags rip and groceries fall to the floor. Also, I received bags with a 5lb bag of potatoes on top of bananas which destroyed the quality, loaves of bread squished under 150 paper plates or some other heavy object. Every week my bread and produce are smashed. This week it was 2 packs of buns and a loaf of bread. Groceries are expensive and I pay extra for delivery service, please train your employees and hold them accountable.

Stop & Shop Employee disrespect

I placed apickup order when I got to the store they did not have it, I had it on my phone and the employees said there was nothing they could do. They called the manager 3 times, she never came. When I asked can they just get the items they said no. The money was already pending my account, they said I have do another purchase then the money will be refunded to me in a week or so. I have never dealt with such rude and non accommodating people before. They blatantly would not help me. I will no longer shop at this location, Store 551 in Bayshore. I know I am one person but I deal with a minimum of 100 people per day, and i try to help each person.

Stop & Shop Weekly ad saying leaving out Hanukkah

Big boo-boo saying “Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa” in your weekly ad. What are we Jews - chopped liver (as the saying goes)? Horrible mistake. This country has people of all persuasions. Should have been just “Happy Holidays.” Muslims have a holiday now too.
How to rectify this horror? Not sure. But we and our friends will be boycotting Stop and Shop and will be putting it on social media.
Didn’t Stop and Shop used to be owned by a Jewish family?

I attempted to email customer service but the email was returned because "the address couldn't be found or is unable to receive mail." Any suggestions for another address? Someone is continuing to use my customer number and a debit card to purchase goods. There were purchases made on 12/10/24 with cash back and 12//8/24 for items only. I have copies of the receipts.

Teenagers are being pick on and blamed for thing they are not doing. They don't know how to defend themself and even if they do no one cares enough to stand up for them. Stop & Shop online orders

I have been a customer for over 35 years. I am appalled at the customer service, along with the condition of meat and produce at the Natick location. I placed an order 2 weeks ago for a delivery for 1-2PM. I called at 2:30 and order was still at the store. I had to rearrange my work schedule to come pick it up. I got there at 4:00 PM and the order had just been picked up I was told.
Today, I had another experience where my order had a lot of items not in stock which made my order more expensive due to lack of product. I spent 15 minutes on the phone waiting for 3 people and got nowhere. I was disconnected. At this point my order is probably still not canceled after speaking to 3 different people. Please refund my card and cancel order. I will no longer be a stop and shop customer. I gave it more than enough chances, and it was costing more money for terrible product and customer service. Stop & Shop Nature’s promise baby wipes

I have thoroughly enjoyed using your Nature's Promise baby wipes. They are a quality product at an affordable price. A winning combination especially today in our fraught economic climate.

The rest of the packaging is going off to Terracycle a fantastic company dedicated to recycling hard to recycle materials. When I took apart the baby wipe packaging, as I typically do in order for more efficient mailing (back to Terracycle’s plant. I couldn't help but notice that the hard plastic dispenser is made from non-recyclable plastic: a huge letdown in my green eyes.

My folks are big Costco shoppers, and I couldn't help but notice that the dispenser on the Kirkland baby wipes are recyclable; so I know that it is possible. Could you please consider making ALL of your packaging recyclable.

Stop & Shop ADA customer service

To Whom It May Concern,

I am submitting this formal complaint regarding consistent issues with the treatment I and other disabled customers experience at the Atlantic Terminal, Brooklyn, NY location. My most recent encounter, which occurred on Sunday evening, November 3, 2024, highlights ongoing discriminatory practices that violate the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) standards of equal access and fair treatment.

As a paralyzed customer who uses a wheelchair, I require assistance in placing items on the counter, as I am unable to hold multiple items at once. Upon approaching the customer service desk, I requested help but was met with hostility from an employee named Dante. He refused to assist me, loudly stating that he would not help and instructing me to go to another register. When I requested to speak with a manager, Dante replied dismissively that he “didn’t care” and continued to ignore my request, leaving me waiting for 45 minutes. During this time, neither Dante nor any other team member summoned a manager, effectively abandoning me and two other customers at the customer service desk.

During this experience, I approached four additional employees who were nearby, laughing and conversing. When I asked for assistance, a woman named Toya told me to go to register 16, disregarding my request to speak with a manager. At no point did she identify herself as one, and she insisted that I disclose the nature of my disability—an inappropriate and unnecessary question under ADA law. Eventually, another employee intervened and instructed Toya to check me out, which should have been done without causing any unnecessary distress. The situation escalated with multiple employees speaking in raised voices and making inappropriate remarks, including Toya’s statement that she “can’t with disabled people.”

By law, I am entitled to equal treatment without having to disclose my disability to receive service. I should not have been subjected to such hostility, raised voices, and refusals to assist. The lack of response to a basic request for a manager, along with the refusal of assistance, violates the principle of fair and equal treatment mandated by the ADA.

In addition to these incidents, I frequently struggle at this location to receive assistance retrieving items from shelves, often having to spend up to an hour seeking help. I was informed to request assistance at the customer service desk, but the poor treatment and reception there are unacceptable.

As a 65-year-old man who relies on a wheelchair, I expect and am entitled to dignified, respectful service. It is unacceptable that others with disabilities—must endure discriminatory treatment and neglect from staff who are obligated by law to provide equal service to all customers.

I respectfully request that your company investigate this matter promptly and address the discrimination and accessibility issues at this location to ensure compliance with ADA standards.

I do not like the fact you add both vacation and any hours worked on the same check. It should be d0ne separately. It takes too much tax out and leaves us with almost nothing. I can't afford th8s. I am self supporting. They did the same thing with the bonus check. It is not fair. If it happens again next year, I will not accept it. I was on vacation the first week of June.

Stop & Shop Service animal policy

Today I was approached by a manager from your north white plains ny store. She asked if my dog was a service support animal and after I showed her the tag and card, she proceeded to tell me my dog was not recognized as a support animal. First off, she is registered as an Esa dog. To be insulted by saying that she is not recognized, is ridiculous. You dont know me or what my disability is. You need to retrain your employees. I not only have severe anxiety, I also suffer from panic attacks and I suffer with depression. Not that it is anyone business,but this is prejudice against us who have other disabilities. I resent that I am being judge by your staff. Yes there are people that abuse this. But I'm not one of them, and I'm sure there.No one has the right to question others disabilities. So if they are shown tags and cards it needs to be dropped by your managers and move on. Don't tell me I can't shop there any longer if I bring my dog. As far as I am concerned, you are discriminating against me.I will make sure others know what happened if this is not corrected soon, and I will continue to bring my dog with me.

My friend works at store 17 the store manager he’s nothing but a bully germaphobe and ocd combined all he cares about cleaning not the employees he’s a bully to all the employees and doesn’t care about them at all. All he care’s about money and points for the store and my friend is meat guy not a porter but the store manager is having him to porter and he’s not happy about it he and the meat manager and seafood market are not very happy with him they’re so fed up with him and going to meat to porter and contamination this is wrong what is he doing to him and if he comes porter he will quit stop and shop

Stop & Shop Customer service

for the last 45 years. To let you know I will NEVER step into that shop again. I was 100% treated with total disrespect. I had a very intense racist experience.

Speak English", I said that is ok, is there someone whom is able to Interpret for us"I do Not Speak Spainsh"!stated clearly to them "This is one of those crazy Americans"! they don't work here? Very DISRESPECTFUL group of idiots.

Stop & Shop Feed the moment ad

Your ad depicting a couple shopping while they are obviously starving, without a list of items to buy, is obviously aimed at a younger generation you are hoping to convince they should come to your store to shop that way.

The ad will eventually come back to haunt you as customer who follow it's lessen will eventually figure out it's more expensive to shop your store, not just because of your pricing, but because of the food they waste.

Stop & Shop Delivery peapod

I stoppped using you months ago, because I’ve gotten over 100 dollars at least expired food, your drivers also urinate in the bind! A few times I got wet bags when it was sunny out, a wife and you could tell it was urine, I thought it was my imagination, until a few friends who work for you doing Peapod confirmed it! I’ve lost at least hundreds dollars of food due to experation and urine soaked bags, which I found disgusting!
