Cancel the so-called service and my credit card
I got online to find a company to get rid of my weeds, researched TruGreen to get a quote, got a quote, and then checked customer complaints and found 80% of one-star reviews, so I left a message I am not interested in using them. The next day there is a man @ my door with a TruGreen shirt on wanting to sign me up for 8 treatments, Erick was really polite and professional so I said to myself to give them the benefit of the doubt. I told him I need to get my yard treated yesterday as the HOA was all over me due to the weeds, and only giving me 10 days to resolve the issue. He signed me up and took my credit card information and said he would contact me a day in advance before sending a tech out to treat my yard, no one has contacted me or come out to do the job that was paid for. I am going to call my bank, stop payment hopefully and just do it myself, I will also contact the consumer attorney general and file a complaint with them as well.
Incompetence and deceitful practices
I have watched my lawn deteriorate for 3, now 4 seasons. I have called this out to TG, and gets tons of very sweet apologies, and then another season goes by and the lawn gets worse. I have 3 years of email chains and videos alerting them that they have a problem, and that the problem is worsening.
Paul Tober of the local office vows to be here next Wednesday for chems and overseeding. Again. Likely again with seed that doesn't germinate.
This is the same gentleman that told me that nematodes are a virus and TG can do nothing about them. Even after I have paid TG for nematode control for the past several years.
I suggested they finish killing this lawn off before attempting to reseed. He dismissed that as unnecessary. I have for several years (with email chains to back it up) requested a visit by a true horticulturist, since the local people have repeatedly demonstrated their incompetence. Their own techs are aghast at what they've seen happen to this lawn.
And nobody in customer service will, apparently, escalate anything beyond this Grand Haven, MI office. They keep referring my alerts about this branch, back TO this branch, with predictable results.
Desired outcome: Invoke the TruHealth guarantee and replace this lawn. Burn it out, grade it, and re-sod. The email chains and photos/videos are available, but too large to post here.
Failed to provide services 3 times after signing up with them in march 2023
After 2 weeks of talking with several different people and getting several different quotes from your company, I agreed to have your company provide lawn care, tree and shrub service for my property on 3/23. I was told the service would begin the following week. I now have had THREE lawn appointments and no one has shown up. Today I cancelled my service completely with Trugreen. You paid several people to earn my business but unfortunately you did not make the same effort to keep it. I will do my best to share my experience with my friends and acquaintances so that do not have to experience what I have experienced with you company. I want to make sure I receive a conformation of my cancellation and all of my information is deleted from your records, including my Credit Card information, IN WRITING.
Desired outcome: Confirmation they have cancelled my service has been cancelled and all of my personal information has been completed deleted from their system ASAP
Customer service
- Have been a customer of TruGreen for lawn care and aeration for 6 years [protected])
- Added this year (2023) the Tree & Shrub Plan.
- On 03/02/2023 received a Tree & Shrub service for "Micronutrient Fertilizer". The technician went around to my trees and scrubs broadcasting granular nitrogen fertilizer by hand from a bucket (which I believe is the standard process for fertilizing the trees and shrubs. No issue to this point.
THE ISSUE: (Service Ticket Attached)
#1 - The first issue is that the service description did not match the service treatment (highlighted in yellow on the attachment service ticket).
- I made the following contacts on 02/02/2023 simply wanting to have the ticket corrected to accurately describe the actual service performed.
- I called (803.667.3758) and was routed to the central Atlanta Service Center. After describing my issue with the ticket and that I was trying to get in touch with the local office. Finally was advised that they had no way to transfer calls to the local branch. He advised I should drive to the Branch Office but did give me a number which he said was the local branch (864.936.0821). [ Call lasted 7 minutes].
- I called (864.936.0821) which was again routed to the same Atlanta Service Center. The agent wanted to assist me so once again described the reason for my call. After being on the line with the agent for 29 minutes, was advised that they could not help me or put me in touch with the local office handling my services. [Call lasted 29 minutes].
- I called a third number (803.781.4870). I found this number on the material left by the technician which gave the address and phone number for the Branchas: Branch 5050, 120 Centrum Drive, Irmo, SC [protected]. Again the call was routed to the Atlanta Service Center. This time I selected the option that would allow me to cancel this service. The agent again wanted details to try to help. Agent finally advised that someone from branch would contact me with 48 hours. [Call lasted 19 minutes].
- On Monday afternoon 03/06/2023 I received a call from (855.451.0389 per caller i.d.) with party identifying that she was calling from TruGreen and was asked to describe my issues. I again described that the service ticket description did not reflect accurately the service that was performed. There was NO liquid nitrogen sprayed on my trees and shrubs, but rath minuteser granular nitrogen applied at the trees and shrubs. She said that the ticket could not be corrected as it had already been posted but that she would make a note in file file. I asked her to send an email confirming our discussion and the corrective note. I asked if she had my email address and she said yes. HAVE RECIEVED NO EMAIL.
Our discussion continued with my other issue in that the ticket noted that the technician noticed "... insect, mite and/or disease damage..." and recommended the "... Tree and Shrub program to address the damage..." and to "Please call me to discuss." [This is highlighted in green on the attachment.] She really gave no satisfying answer as to why this was on the ticket when I am already paying for this service. She advised me to fill out the survey after the service visits and ask that I be contacted. I had completed the survey rating with a 2 and stated that the low rating had nothing to do with the technician and servicing visit but the inability to get in touch with someone at the branch to timely handle my questions/issues. [Call lasted 19 minutes].
My total phone time on this simple matter is 74 minutes plus the time I have spent on this form.
Desired outcome: The 03/02/2023 service ticket corrected and a means for efficiently contacting the local branch without being routed through a Regional Customer Care Center on issues they can't help with.
Lawn Proposal
I was on the phone for over 20 minutes listening to a sales representative and then asked him for a quote, because we had discussed so many details about my lawn and he just continued selling. When I asked for a quote, he said F U and hung up the phone one me. I would never recommend this service to anyone. Unprofessional, vulgar and disrespectful to customers.

TruGreen ruined yard!
I have been using TruGreen lawn services for about 1 1/2 to 2 years. I hired them because I had tall, thin weeds growing in my yard that made my home look abandoned within two weeks after mowing. I was on a routine schedule with them and did a lot of watering after each treatment as required. they did get rid of some of the small weeds, but not the ones that mattered. After all this time, my neighbors all have green grass, and my backyard is almost bare! I did complain to the company on several occasions, and they talked me into staying with them for a few more applications. The last few times I told them I wanted to cancel, the offered a discounted service to retreat it. The last time was a free visit and said they would use a new product. It changed things alright...my yard is now almost completely bare! No big dogs in the yard, only a small one about 20 pounds, so they can't blame it on that either. I wouldn't recommend this company. They would have to come out and do allot of reseeding before I ever would. I will enclose pictures of my backyard compared to my neighbors so you can see the difference.
Desired outcome: Have them come out and treat and re-seed my yard that was ruined.
Mosquito Defense
These people are a rip off I stop my service not to come anymore they had people from private numbers calling me to keep my service they tried giving me 50% off I told them no they came to my house and did the service anyway I was not at home they left a green service sticker in my yard stating they serviced my yard why after I told then NO now they are trying to collect $75.00 from me through a debt collector NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO COLLECT $75.00.Im not giving them a dime .I have an email stating they were on their way I seen it when I open my emails the next day TRUEGREEN YOU ARE NOT TRUE
Lawn service
Horrible service. I have almost one acre of property and when I was home on a number of occasions the field technicians would do only small parts of my lawn before I could catch them from driving away.. I’d call and they would come back. On 3 occasions this year alone they only did maybe 20 % of my yard. Just last week the guy only did maybe 10%. I questioned him and he said his instructions were just for the front of house. Lie, lie. I caught him and that was his excuse because I get full yard coverage. Most times I’m not at home to watch them so I have no idea if they are cheating me each time. At times when they put down pellets I could see where they stopped and didn’t complete rest of yard. This problem has been going on for years with no remedy. I will be looking for another service. Also when you call true green they won’t tell you the local branch number or contact person. I ask for a manager to call but no one calls

Disputing a bill of services not rendered.
We contacted Trugreen to get grub c back supply to our lawn. we made it clear that it was grub ex we needed and if they could not provide that service we did not want it.
They told us they understood in the grub X would be applied. when they came out they did not apply the grub X. I called them and explain they did not do what was agreed-upon and they said they would reverse the charges and apply to grub ex the next time they came out. I told him I did not want them to come out to my property and apply anything. I was sent a bill and told that they were out and applied fertilizer to my lawn which there was no evidence off. this application was approximately April 2022. I received a collection in the email today 10 three 2022 for $62 for services that were not rendered.
Desired outcome: I am not responsible for this bill and do not want to be bothered with this any further
Killed several plants and shrubs after spraying. Never acknowledged their mistake.
I am very disgusted with TRUEGREEN (TG). They killed all of my bushes and plants and I will never use them again or refer them to anyone. I have been a customer for years and this year they evidently used too much of an ingredient that killed my grass, shrubs, and plants. Every year I would receive compliments due to my yard’s beauty by people passing in the neighborhood or when placed on Facebook numerous responses due its beauty for both my front and back yards. My front and back yards were filled with color and detailed every other weekend by our landscaper. My grass was green with no patches and became bald. My landscaper also agreed my yard was destroyed by TG, even though the company never admitted their wrongdoing or tried to make it right by replacing all of the plants/shrubs they had destroyed. When I left a VMs for an immediate call back, the day after spraying, re the harm that was spreading rapidly throughout my yard, they ignored my calls and finally called back a month later after the damage had attacked the rest of my plants. They did not care. All of my plants died. It was not until we cancelled ALL services, ie., tree, shrub, etc., that they continuously contacted me trying to persuade me to keep the services. I asked that they send a specialist to investigate this issue. They sent the same guy to put more spray on my plants. I had to threaten TG that if they stepped back on my property I would take them to court. What they offered could not replace the 58 shrubs and plants I PLANTED on my own and the years of their full growth. Seven years of enjoyment of their beauty came to a halt on that day. I am furious! The hostages dried up in the month of June, the peonies died, the bushes died, etc. I have pictures to show the damages as these were submitted to customer service and nothing was done. I will never again use this company and if I were you seeking a lawn care service I would advise you to stay away as well.

In case you want to know what hell is like, look at my lawn
Several years ago, I hired Tru-Green to handle my lawn needs, as far as treating my lawn. The goal was to have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood. Someone came out and designed a course to take to achieve that. I agreed to all and any treatments they suggested. Needless to say, I did not come close to having a lawn anyone would be envious to have. I contacted a supervisor who came out and walked my lawn with me. He agreed the lawn was less than desirable. He offered a free aerating and overseeding to solve my problem. What I got was a bill for the (free) service and zero growth to my lawn. This past Spring, I reached out to them again. The supervisor was unable to get out to my house because he had people down with Covid but would get back to me. Of course, he never got back to me. I continued to cut my lawn like instructed and water it despite the drought we were having. I made repeated phone calls to Tru-Green but the only concern of theirs was getting paid for the continued treatments I was getting. Every time someone came out to treat my lawn, they would acknowledge the lawn looks like hell, but they would just dump more fertilizer, making the weeds grow stronger. Of course, I would also get billed for the treatments. Next step is to call my credit card company and explain I paid for a service I never got and have my funds refunded to me.
Desired outcome: I just want a green, weedfree lawn.
Lawn Care
Hi I an customer and have proactively telling the trugreen customer service about the lack of attention and care they have been providind despite me paying them fully, I have repeated called then and asked them but it seems they do not care. Despite me telling them, my lawn has been completely destroyed, I even send them the picture, I will get an email that they will look into it but noone has responded. I have asked them to refund my money since they failed to take care of my lawn and also ruined it and failed to also honor the guarantee to fix the issue.
Desired outcome: Refund my money for the year or fix the issue ASAP
Lawn Aeriation
9/22/2022 Lawn Aeration. I was totally unaware that when I I had it done to see if it helped my lawn that I was signing up for a reoccurring service. I was so totally surprised by a loud noise in my yard. Checked it out and visited with the man performing the service and had him stop immediately because I did not order the service! I got a bill for a totally completed job anyway! I was never contacted by anyone to arrange a convenient time for the (unordered) service. The gentleman doing the work was extremely nice and said he had tried to call me earlier in the day. I am a single elderly person and I do not answer out of area code numbers I do not recognize. If TruGreen would have been identified, I would have answered. Apparently the people who work for them have to use their personal phone to contact TRUGreen's "supposed" unwilling clients. I do not feel I should have to pay for the service I did not order because of them taking advantage of their so-called continuing service. If it is a continuing service, TruGreen needs to make sure that customers totally understand that! A note on the reverse of the bill dealing with how to cancel is not easily seen and I did not see it until I finally happened to turn their current statement over. I had no idea that supposed reputable businesses behave this way. By the way, my irrigation line was cut and now needs repair. Will never do business with this company again!

Lack of response to service re-sprays.
Too many problems with TruGreen not honoring their vow to correct issues with service. Whenever I call to get a re-spray of the my lawn because I still have too many weeds, I'm told that they will respray the next time they are scheduled in my area for that service, which is every 4-weeks. We'll that's when they're supposed to service my yard next anyway, but what about the weeds that they were supposed to take care of last time?! This time it was a mosquito treatment. Yard was serviced on a Tuesday, overwhelmed by mosquitos on Wednesday, called for a re-spray on Thursday, it was scheduled for Monday (backyard party on Tuesday). No show on Monday! Called to find out why: oh, we rescheduled you for Thursday, but never left of message and no record of call on my call logs. WTH?! May be dropping them after the re-spray, if they show up. If they don't show I'm dropping them and not paying for service that didn't work.
Desired outcome: That they would actually do what they claim and perform resprays when requested, not just on their timeline. If they aren't going to do good, thorough work then I'll do it myself from now on.
Annoying phone calls
I have had four calls in the last two weeks pertaining to lawn care from your company. Three of those four calls were from Texas. I lived in TX Feb 2021- June 2022. I canceled service because my husband is Active Duty military and we relocated to MN. Today, I received a call from a local number suggesting that they were told that I was looking for services and that they were aware that I had been contacted recently by the National calling center. I have strongly expressed to these reps that I am not interested in these services. My mother is dying from cancer and these calls are annoying. I don't know what else needs to be done to have my number removed from your system.

Service person who performed my aeration broke my fence gate
I have contacted the Hagerstown office at least 5 times regarding the damage to my fence gate. I am promised that the general manager would contact me but I never here from anyone. I have sent an estimate and pictures of the damage but received no response. The fence contractor said either the machine ran into the fence or the fence was forced open by the service person. I noticed the damage on Sept. 9th after he left and immediately contacted the local office. I followed up with their request for the estimate which is $948 from Frederick Fence who originally installed it. Please let me know how you wish to proceed in reimbursing me for the damage so I can get it replaced. It will take 10-12 weeks to get the gate and I don't want my dog to get out. The gate is sitting on the ground and fastened to the other side with bungee cords.
Desired outcome: Reimburse me $948 to cover the cost of the gate replacement so I can order the replacement.
They killed my lawn
This is my lawn after a over a year of Tru Green weed prevention, fertilization, aeration, and overseeing. I will admit there was a drought this year that turned all the lawns in my neighborhood brown. If you look around the neighborhood you will see that most lawns have recovered unlike my lawn and none that I saw have been completely taken over by weeds like mine. If brown dead grass and a lawn overtaken by various weeds is your goal then I highly recommend Tru Green. I have lived here for ten years and have never seen my lawn look so bad.
Lawn service
I have two complaints, my name Denise Haskins, 1107 Elsa Ave., Landover, Md. 20785, [protected]. Customer for over 30 years, second generation. Fertilizer was spreaded over my yard in June 2022 and in about a week and a half, I had brown spots over my yard. I called Trugreen to send a supervisor to look at my grass. A person came out and he said, the yard was over fertilized. I asked how did he know and he said the fertilizer was still on the ground and it was too much there. He said, solution is to aerate and seed the yard so, it will come back next year. He would have someone to call to schedule. I called back three times and they said, a supervisor would call because they didn't have a record of it. No one has called as it is 09/22/2022. In the meantime a Technician came out to fertilize the yard, I wasn't home. When I got home I saw the sign, but didn't see any fertilizer. I checked my camera and the Tech put the sign down, stood by his truck, and then put a receipt on my door. The camera picked it up. I was charged 47.85 for nothing. I called about it and they said, they would refund the amount but they didn't. Today 9/22 she refunded and put a note to have the supervisor to call.
Desired outcome: Free aeration and seeding and free service to replace the damaging of my grass from the fertilizer in June 2022.
Unauthorized service
Good morning,
This is my second email and my fifth attempt to speak with someone at TRUGREEN. A TRUGREEN technician treated my lawn with chemicals yesterday without my knowledge or my consent. They trespassed on my property and put my animals at high risk. I do not have a contract with TRUGREEN, nor did I request services. My animals are being boarded until my lawn is clean of the chemicals placed on 9/21/2022 without permission. I am also contact a lawyer, Better Business, etc. The unresponsiveness that I have received is unacceptable. You are also in violation of the Fair Housing Discrimination ACT as my animals are support animals that I cannot access due to the chemicals. As you are aware, I am a protected class that you have violated and ignored.
I am demanding my lawn to be washed immediately.
Desired outcome: I am demanding my lawn to be washed of all the chemicals.
Terrible service
I have used TruGreen for a couple of years for the mosquito and tree service. This past season the service has become awful. Sloppy work, knocking over things in my yard and just stepping over it and leaving. The final straw was September 6th when they were doing the mosquito service, the worker slammed my privacy fence gate so hard he broke it. I was home...
