On January 16, 2025, I completed a Shop & Pay order as an Uber Eats driver. At the time, I had not yet received Uber’s payment card, so I used my own money to complete the customer’s grocery order, which totaled $286.00.
Due to an issue with the app, Uber Support instructed me to enter only $150 in the system, assuring me that the remaining $136 would be reimbursed later after I submitted proof. I followed all instructions and provided:
• My bank statement
• Trip screenshots
• Chat logs with Uber Support
Despite multiple follow-ups and full documentation, Uber has failed to reimburse me the full amount. This is a violation of California Labor Code §2802, which states that companies must reimburse workers for necessary work-related expenses.
I’ve been left covering this cost out of pocket for almost 3 months now. This is unacceptable and unethical. I am filing a formal complaint with the California Labor Commissioner and expect Uber to resolve this immediately.
Desired Resolution:
Full reimbursement of $286.00, plus any applicable penalties.
