beware of crazy dallas manager
Guess what happens when a manager wrongfully accuses a customer of stealing? Nothing!!! They keep their job. The customer for the horrible experience..gets an oops sorry! Marrissa Colfry is the sorry excuse of a manager who accuses innocent customers of shoplifting. BEWARE OF SHOPPING AT THE PRESTONWOOD LOCATION. Is it possible someone is trying to...

I honestly cannot give a review on the quality of the ulta salon in burbank. I can, however, tell you all how RUDE the salon manager, JACKIE is. I made an appt a day in advanced to get my haircut there since they are a participating Locks of Love salon and I am interested in donating my hair. The Locks of Love website clearly states in its guidelines that layered hair is acceptable so long as the longest layer is at least 10 inches. It states, "Shorter hair (6"-10") will be separated from the 10" and longer lengths and sold to offset the manufacturing costs. Although the shorter hair cannot be used in the hairpieces, it still greatly helps to reduce costs".
Sunny, the hairstylist I made an appt with said that she would do the cut, and measured my hair to make sure that I had at least 10 inches. Just before she was about to divide and ponytail my hair to cut it, the manager approached us. She made a huge commotion about how my hair is not appropriate for a Locks of Love donation because it's layered. I point out to her what is stated in the guidelines of the website and she defensively replied, "Well, any other ulta can approve it, but it's not going to happen in my salon". And proceeded to walk away.
I was outraged. She was clearly causing a scene and placing me in an embarassing situation, which was extremely unnecessary. On top of her outrageous unprofessionalism, her claim of not being able to accept my hair had no validation whatsoever, while I was going off guidelines from the Locks of Love website. If she did not want to accept my hair for whatever reason, there was definitely a more professional approach she could have taken to explain herself. In addition, her reasoning behind not accepting my hair should have been shared with the rest of the staff at the salon so that future futile bookings will not be made. I made a 30 mile trip to this salon which ended up to be the most disappointing day I've ever had.
Thank you JACKIE for wasting my time, energy, gas and afternoon.

$10 for flat ironing!?
I love Ulta and have never had a bad experience. But I think it is ridiculous that customers are being charged an extra $10 for flat ironing when it has always been included in a salon service.
I understand flat ironing takes time, but charging an extra $10 cuts into the stylist's tip in addition to making a trip to the salon more expensive than it needs to be. If I'm getting color in my hair which runs over a $100, I should not have to pay $10 extra for a service that should already be included!
Very ridiculous, I know customers that have stopped coming to Ulta because of this issue.

Ulta has always charged an additional $10 for flat ironing.
*Your stylist should have told you before the service.
*You could also ask.
*If you are complaining about tipping, it is YOUR CHOICE. No one forced you.
--Ulta salon manager
Time is money in the salon business. It's been that way since the beginning of time in the salon biz. $10 is NOTHING. Some salons charge up to $25-$30 extra for that especially if the hair is very thick and long. Usually in MOST salons, the haircut includes a shampoo and blow dry style. Any ADDITIONAL styling is extra. If its such an issue for you, then flat iron your own hair at home. Hairstylists spent a lot of time and money in school to become experts in their craft/to obtain licensing to perform the work they do. The prices don't just cover the cost of the products used, they cover the time involved in performing the service. It's a SERVICE. Like when you take your car in to get the oil changed, or tired balanced or rotated. There is no mystery that every place is different. Some include some things and some do not. Some places you get free refills and some places you don't.
Stupid ###,
Why do you want flat hair like the whites? Jealous 'cause your nappy 'fro reminds people of pub's gone wild?
I will say that yes paying an extra $10 is a little unorthadox but if you don't want to pay it... then don't have them do it. But it is the same concept as American Airlines now charging for bags when in the past you were only charged if they were over 50lbs. The economy is in a down fall and so for stores to stay afloat they have to add small fees or flat out raise their prices. Anyway stylists are always undertiped or not atall and that's why I am always sure to tip my stylist well. I have had the same stylist since I was like 9 years old and my mom always taught me to tip well and you will get something in return. You know what? now since she knows I'm going to tip well she drops fees or she just gives me a discount. Last time I was there I was getting my hair cut and curled and she whispered in my ear, "Because you are a good customer, I did not charge for the curl". Loyalty and generosity will pay off in the end.
First of all, IM a stylist and I basically think your a rude, ignorant ###. We have the right to charge whatever the ### we want if your sitting in OUR chair. If an extra ten dollars was such a big deal then why did you do it? Were not just gonna do something for free cause thats what YOU want. Stylists are so under-tipped and unappreciated these days it makes me sick.
company theft
My best friend got married in March, and all 7 bridesmaids went to Ulta for pre-wedding makeup and hair so we'd know what to do the day of the wedding. We were charged $65 for hair/makeup. We asked the MANAGER of the salon if she knew someone to do our hair/makeup the day of the wedding AT the venue.
She stated that she and a co-worker would do our hair makeup for the $65 each.
They arrived at 9am for a noon wedding. They did the mother of the groom and bride first. When they got up to pay, the manager of the salon said, "that will be $95 each". We were SHOCKED. When they asked why the price increase, they stated, "it's our parogative".
Needless to say, us bridesmaids only had $65 each on us, so we said, no thanks and rushed to do each other's hair and makeup. They charged the bride $145!
On Monday, the mom of the groom called the local Ulta and asked WHY the price increase. The district manager said--NO ONE FROM ULTA IS ALLOWED TO WORK OUTSIDE THE SALON!
WE'D BEEN HAD!
So the district manager starts doing some research and discovered these two con-artist had 17 brides who came into the salon --and never came back the day of their wedding. Because these two went to the venues and OVERCHARGED them!
Then again, there's no telling how many brides they shafted !
I understand, these two no longer work for Ulta. But BEWARE!
Only have your hair/makeup done in the salon--if they offer to go to the venue, ALERT MANAGEMENT!

Freelance is less idi0t because they cut out the company taking their cut, what a [censored] you are.
That was RUDE and completely un-called for in my opinion. Also I am a stylist of 18 years and do a ton of out of salon "freelance" work and normally yes, my prices are cheaper BUT when it comes to a wedding? Never double but def quite a bit more in price. In the range of 50-60% more honestly. I don't know too may stylists that wouldn't do the same.
Anytime anyone comes to your house to do your hair, that comes under the heading of "Freelance work". The salon has nothing to do worth it. You clarrify the cost behorehand, because it WILL more than going into the salon. The stylist has to lug all the equipment there and back, do hair in a setting that is usually cramped and and not really made to do hair, and, they are saving you time and aggravation by coming to you so that's one less thing for you to worry about. Most freelancers double the salon rate.
so make sure you have everything clear before you make your aggreement.
And by clear, i mean talk to the person who'll be doing your hair, not some go between.
I have been seeing an Ulta Salon hairstylist for three years and this complaint holds little truth. I happen to know, since my wedding day hair and makeup was done in house, that the prices of the services would equal approximately $95 dollars whether done there or not. It specifies on the menu that makeup is $30 and updos range between $60 and $65. I find it hard to believe that the styists would agree to both services for $65. You were charged appropriately for the service, according to the menu. Maybe you should have looked at it first.
worst hair dying and service experience!
That’s the worst hair salon! Never ever dye your hair at the salon located at ULTA Edgewater NJ Hair Salon, you will DEFINITELY regret it! The price is high; their standard of coloring is disaster. The service is just as bad as their skills (not that they have any skills whatsoever). It's basically a HORRID experience, and it resulted in a tragedy (my hair...

I have visited the ulta store in plymouth ma a few times since it opened in 2017. During the past visit or two I have experienced rude sales associates who are not interested in assisting customers. When you can convince one of these ladies to help you-they have such an attitude that wish you had not bothered. The sales are missleading, you must have a...

I order something online over a month ago and I still have not receive the item (the website says seven to ten business days). I have done what I feel like is more then I should have to do to get my order (five hours on the phone with customer service without actually getting through, using the option to leave a message not one but twice...never heard from anyone, gone to the store six times...no help, and sent two emails with no response).
So since I was unable to get through to the company the way that they have set up, I decided to handle it a different way, I went to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and discovered something very upsetting; there were no complaints for Ulta. Obviously this cannot be true because there are pages of complaints about Ulta and their lack of service, so I am urging anyone who has ever had a problem with this company to take a minute from their busy schedules and file a complaint at BBB.com
My hope is that if I get enough people to file a complaint and make Ulta acknowledge their poor service and hopefully change the way the treat their customers.

Actually, Ulta requires a purchase to receive a free sample... sounds like your daughter knew exactly what she was doing and that it wasn't only a FREE sample.
This same thing happened to us. My daughter ordered a free sample, now there are deducting money from my checking account, $78.00 for the FREE SAMPLE.
rude customer
Came into store late one night, about an hour before they closed. A young lady with dyed red hair and tattoos on her chest was working. I asked her for help, and after trying several things such as lip color and lip liners, her attitude with me grew stronger. She was incredibly rude because of the fact that I did not like the, in my opinion, obnoxious colors she had chosen. When I moved to the other side of the store and chose certain things to buy, she rang me up with an even more rude attitude. Her comment to me was "is this going to be ALL you are buying?" and when I said yes, her response was "Well, your total tonight only comes up to 10.45" Not only is her appearance in the store unprofessional, but her attitude is a turn off as well. I strongly suggest you approach her about this situation if not terminate her. Due to the fact that I did not want to purchase what she had chosen she was extremely rude to me, and had it not been for the tall blond girl that had long hair, I would have chosen to not return to your store.
That's how Ulta wants their employees to act toward you, dollface.
As an employee at Ulta with pink hair and facial piercing, I find you calling her look "unprofessional" as hilarious in the fact that it's a FASHION/COSMETIC store/salon! Ulta encourages it's employees to look "funky". It's not a bank.
o. p. I shimmer wristlet
I went to two different ultas on three different occasions trying to get four of the o.p.i wristlets last week and were told each time they were out. Then on Sunday the 16th the day afer the sale I was in the Ulta in Edmond Okla. and low and behold they had several of the wristlets but for full price. After I complained a manager finally let me have one for the sale price but since I wanted them for stocking stuffers for my grandaughters I needed more but refused to pay full price because they should have been in stock or else a rain check given.
misleading advertising
The ULTA beauty coupons are false and very misleading. They exclude "Prestige" products but you don't know until you get there that nearly every product in their store is "Prestige". Don't fall for it, go to the Mall and spend the same amount, at least you'll get decent service if you have to pay the regular price.
Ulta Beauty is has pissed me off! I went in there and made a purchase. They asked if I wanted to sign up for their discount card where you accumulate points based on how much you buy for discounts or whatever. So I say okay and fill out this form with my name, address, and email address. Then I pay for my purchase with my debit card. Then the guy working there says they are having a special for two free InStyle Magazines. He gives me this slip to sign. I read the fine print and it says they will automatically charge your card for a year's subscription after the two free issues so I DON'T SIGN it and say I'm not interested. Well then the guy says he's already signed me up and he can't take it back. What's the point of having a place for your signature if they can do whatever they want to whether you sign or not? So he gives me this number and website I can go to cancel it. I've called the number 4 times and just stay on hold forever. The website can't locate my account. I promise, if I get a charge for an InStyle Magazine subscription I'm going to go up to the store and demand my money back.

Prestige is actually a small percentage of the total product ULTA has in its stores. I can't get over how many people get so bent over a $3.50 coupon! It doesn't even cover the TAX!
this is not a complaint
This is for all you # customers who have obviously never worked in retail before. # your complaints; your complaints are a waist of your damn time. If you have the time to get online and type up a complaint on a retail store you obviously have no life. How would you like it if a person came to your job and tried to get you fired? I bet you wouldn't like that at all because your dumb # wouldn't have a job, so for all you customers who think the customer is always right, you got another thing coming the funny part about it is the head boss of these companies is laughing while she is reading your complaint because he/she is making their money either way hahahhahahah. And noone gets fired for you’re complaints unless it’s a serious situation so expect to see those employees again. The boss of these companies doesn't even say anything to the workers about these complaints. People who work in retail dont even learn about a complaint, site so you’re waisting you’re #ing time complaining. Stop being spoiled brats and just shop for your #. Reminder: the customer is never right and you'll never get what you want. I hope these retail workers keep treating their customers exactly how they deserve to be treated. I work in retail so come have fun in my store i'm going to treat customers exactly how they treat me. Last reminder: what goes around comes around
For everyone saying ulta has por costomer service, I stongly disagree. everytime I go into the stores in nevada they are very helpful and nice. they always make sure to give me samples if I ask, too. you have to remeber this is retail and probably not the most fun job and they probably get paid minimum wage, so do you really think they care about your complaints? they have thousands of customers and your not the only person in the store they have to help. I say leave these poor retail workers alone, they put up with enough crap
I live on the West Coast and ULTA just opened a store here. I love it. I thought the staff were very friendly and professional. I haven't been to the salon yet but plan to in the future. Sometimes I think what you get from the employees reflects how you are treating them.
I really wish that each and every one of you could come to the ULTA in the Midwestern United States, not 1 of them treats their customers the way that those other stores do! In the district where I am a manager, the customer is ALWAYS 100% right! There are the extreme cases where there is a customer that comes in wanting heaven and earth and there is just NOTHING that you can do to please them, and unfortinuatly these are ausually the guests that will post horrible things about the company online. I will agree that customer service has gone down the toilet in the last 15-20 years, when I first started working I would NEVER have dreamed of talking to people the way that some people do at stores. But lets be realistic here...some of that is personal attitude and that has to fall back on how they were raised. I was brought up with the saying, "Treat people the way that you want to be treated". That is definatly NOT how kids are raised today.
I feel very bad for the people that have had such a horrible experience with ULTA, and if you want a great customer experience; a great cut and color and a FUN environment to shop at, then each and every one of you need to come to the Fargo, ND store and see what REAL customer service looks like!
Wow, how obnoxious. When a customer takes the time to complain about an experience with a company, then that complaint is valid. Period. Even if it seems silly, even if the person seems confused or incorrect. The bottom line is, they had a bad, bad experience with that company. They are upset. If they are wrong, maybe you can help them see that. But what they need, is not to be yelled at, but to be made to feel less uncomfortable for having been taken advantage of by that company.
My experience was not that unusual-- the hair stylist was only competent enough to give me the cut she had on her head. All of my requests, explanations, even *pictures* of the cut I wanted were ignored. When I said this was exactly the cut I DID NOT want, I was ignored. She then gave me a bill for the cut, when I had actually gone there do give about 8 inches of my hair to charity. (she took 10, then cut off a further 3 or 4 inches...)
And now, with my horrible hair cut that will take at least six months to grow out, I have a very, very bad feeling-- not just about that stylist, and not just about ULTA in general, but I also will never, ever, ever again give my hair to locks of love. I am not even sure ULTA isn't just throwing away my hair right now. The stylist obviously *forgot* that I was there for locks of love, because she didn't give me the paperwork I was supposed to get (they often send you a thank you post card if you fill out the paperwork), and she charged me full price. I really, really bet she just threw my hair away-- making this whole, horrible sacrifice (I *liked* my long hair, I worked hard to get it that way) not worth it. Again, I will NEVER do locks of love again, and I will NEVER go to Ulta again or shop there online.
Even if I am "misunderstanding" what happened, no explanation or excuse was given. I was just used and sent away. And I really regret ever going there. That *should* be the opposite of what ULTA should want their customers to feel after using their services, but it appears that many of us feel that way. Just so you know, misunderstood, it's not about us being in the wrong, it's about us spending our money at your competitors' stores.
It's not right of " Misunderstood" to post on here her rude comments and opinions of Customer complaints, she is obviously an unhappy employee of Ulta. Misunderstood, if you don't like your job, then quit. It's people like you who make customers complain. Everyone who works in Customer Service knows that Customer Complaints come with the territory and your job is to deal with them. Cursing out the Customers on this website is not going to solve your problem with your job. I did not want to waste my time reading every rude word you said on here. I stopped at your first sentence. But have time to respond to you and say: The Customers are NOT the issue. YOU ARE!
Thank You so much Misunderstood! You valid every complaint and you have proved all of us right! I am glad to see that when we are getting bad customer service, that it's not that we are being petty, it's actually because the representative sucks. After reading your "complaint" I can't imagine how you still have a job in customer service. Hey guess what, we are the customers that spend money in the store that pay your pay check and help you keep you [censor]ing minimum wage job! So, if you don't like giving excellent customer service then pick a new [censor]ing career! If I spend money, I deserve good customer service period! Oh, and since you think our complaints don't do anything, how did u find our complaints? Hum, looks like they reach a lot more people than you think. And for people who care about receiving good customer service, they may read our complaints and stop shopping at the store, therefore sometimes our complaints do mean something!
I am currently a manager at an Ulta, and I have to say that you are acting completely crazy. Unfortunately, working in retail means you will encounter dissatisfied customers, and sometimes there is nothing that can be done in their mind to remedy the situation. But, most customers I encounter are very nice and just looking for some assistance in choosing what is right for them. You really do have to have the mentality of "treat others how you would like to be treated", and if you face customer service situation with that in mind, than more often than not things will work out fine. I have had employees who honestly act like every customer is a problem, and I really hate to see that, because we all shop and we all know how we would want to be treated as a customer. Obviously if mean customers bother you this much, I suggest a new line of work.
Wow! You're just making all Ulta employees look bad. Not cool.
I've worked retail for many years and I know to treat customers with kindness and respect (I'm a customer too and believe in the whole "do onto others as you would have them do onto you." Sure some customers can be rude and even agressive at times (had a guy throw a tub of hair gel at me and almost run me over with a Target shopping cart-why we let people in with these still boggles my mind) but you have to keep your cool and let it slide because for every rude guy you get a few nice customers who can just liven up your day :)
Thank you dixiebell88! Like dancin', I also work at Ulta with a Master's degree (working on PhD this summer):( I dont get paid enough to deal with some of the stuff I deal with. I don't get commission either (as a lot of people assume). I stepped away from the register for 2 minutes today to help a lady with lipstick and was soon paged to get back to the register because there was a line of angry customers who "waited for 10 minutes!" what?! People exaggerate! So, had I not helped the lady choose a few lipsticks I wouldve gotten that I'm not helpful at all. We can never win :(
I also agree with the kindness goes a long way, for sure! To all my dear, patient, loving, nice customers, I appreciate you all and I thank you...this is why I give you extra samples and coupons ;)
God bless you dixiebell! I work at ULTA with a bachelor's degree thanks to the glorious economy. I get snipped at all day by irritated, condescending customers. We had a customer scream at a group of seven of us first thing in the morning (we were having a very short "team meeting" on the sales floor--literally 90 seconds long.) because we opened the doors late according to her watch. A little kindness takes you a long way in our store. If you're patient and remotely nice, we're more than happy to go out of our way to help you and hook you up with freebies.
bad service
Here is a letter I just sent to ulta detailing my visits to their establishment. To whom this may concern; I am writing to make a complaint on the plain lack of customer service in your stores. Since ulta opened in memphis, I have only been there a half dozen times. The first time I visited was the only time i've been greeted by an employee. I suppose...

I am supposed to receive coupons in the mail for free items according to home much I spend. I spent $600 last Christmas holiday and never received the coupons. So I emailed customer service and I got a form response saying that I'd get a response within 48 hours. Two weeks later I sent another email and got a similar promise and no response. It's been months. I've forbidden my 2 teenage daughters from shopping there so I guess their conduct will cost them. Hope this does too. Their prices aren't really any better when they have a sale than your local drugstore anyway.

i received my order on wednesday, november 29 2023 and only received four of the five items i ordered. i was still charged for the missing item(nyx filler instinct plumping lip gloss). the order date is november 25th 2023. the order number is M100475966. the upc for the missing item is [protected].
I have been trying all day (11/12/23) to check out my cart at Ulta online and nothing is going through no matter what payment option I use Ulta blocks my purchase. The payment options are good, Ulta has my account locked down and the customer service is taking me in circles and is resolving nothing!
Went to the store a few minutes before 8:30p & the doors were locked. The store hours on the window say they are supposed to be opened until 9p. It was over 30 minutes before 9 so not sure why they would already have the doors locked. They were turning out the lights when I got back to my car.
I spent well over $200 on my 2 cosmetic 'it' products & my Dillon Purple perfume set! It told me I am getting a free black purse with my perfume perchance But it Never Came! That greatly upsets me! I looked online 2 days later after my perchance was taken out of my account & there was 12 left at that time! I want my free gift that was worth $65!
Why are you using a biological make as an example of what a woman should be? You should be featuring Riley Gaines instead of wannabe's in the name of inclusion. Who are you going to feature next in the name of inclusion, Lia Thomas?
Until these changes, I will take my business elsewhere.
I’m a great and hardworking employee. I was just offered a chance to work for Dior and then you said that I wasn’t rehirable? Why? You are making a huge mistake because I’m a great salesperson. I was offered the job today March 23, 2023. Why am I not rehirable?

I am continually being told that kim kardashian owns and operates Ulta Beauty and is corrupting the online shopping experience
When I received my package from Ulta on 11/30, I opened the bad and it was completely wet. The tops on the bottles were not secure and they leaked in the bag. There wasn't tape covering the opening to the bottles and they were not in a sealed bag, to prevent leakage.
Ive called customer service around 9:35pm est 11/17/22 . I tried to get a new card and reduced my balance due to lated fee if I could. Ive explained to her what is my problem, she didnt help and was so rude. She didnt even care or try to understand my problem and I got hang up. Her first name is Andriana
