double charged
I mistakenly swiped the wrong card while paying for my purchase. I caught my mistake and did not sign the authorization. I was told by the CSR (who was quite rude) that the transaction could not be backed up and I would have to recheck the order on the next register.
I ended up with smashed groceries (which they did offer to replace if I drove the 12 miles back to the store) and the transaction charged to both cards with an overlimit fee assessed on one. The CSM told me that I had authorized the charge to the card as soon as I swiped it. I believe that my signature is required for the charge to be authorized.
I never signed the authorization. Should I press fraud charges against Wal-Mart? They told me it will take 2 weeks to refund my card, but it was charged on the first business day.

bad service
Today on January 3 around 8 pm, I went to your store for an exchange of an gift set. Well the item I was returning, price was reduced. I told the tall male customer service person that I was willing to keep the item if I got a price adjustment. The guy said okay. Then I told him, that the rest of the items on the receipt were in my car and could I do the...

I contacted city police to file a report against this company and Walmart.
I also bought a Walmart visa reloadable card to pay a bill, I was UnABLe to activate it, , asking me serious of questions name DOB adress social? I didn't not give then my social thought it was pointless and fishy.. After an hour and a Hal on the phone they tell me they are gonna expedite a refund e
Because my information did not match and neither did my social.. wTF? I never entered a social, Walmart wont do anything or give me my money back, the company won't send me to a representative just keeps ending my call.. I looked online and was surprised at home many ppl been scammed.. police is getting involved, I'm not gonna let them get away with this!
Wal-mart took my funds as well and I am more than furious after dealing with them for hours on the phone today!
My husband and myself, recently laid off. Mother (who lives out of town and was visiting for the day) purchases pre-paid card for us to get some groceries, etc for things we needed immediately for us and our kids. I go online to activate card and am told activation was stopped and to click button for refund. Instead of clicking refund button I called the activation number on the pre-paid card. After going through the entire process again over the phone I am transferred to a call center rep @ 24/7 call center services. The rep explained to me that there was an issue because I have had 2 wal-mart prepaid cards in the past. One using my first name and the other my middle name. (I go by my middle name) On some documents, cards etc, I have to use my full name and did so for the first card. They even confirmed my full name by stating that it was on their records. I then provided her with my address, phone number, SOCIAL SECURITY Number and the activation number off of my Wal-mart receipt along with the pre-paid card number. I am then told I could have my card activated but had to fax them a copy of my DRIVERS LICENSE. This sounded absurd to my husband and myself but they had our money. So having just a few dollars to our name, we had to go pay to have my license copied and to have it faxed. I then call the company back and cannot reach a live person. I had to go through the activation process again just to reach a custoner service rep. When one finally gets on the phone, I am told my card still CANNOT be activated because I did not fax them a copy of my SOCIAL SECURITY CARD with my drivers license. I explained to her that the first rep, "Melinda" DID NOT tell me I need to provided my SS# Card and that I absolutely refused to do so anyway as this was only a pre-paid card. WE GAVE THEM MONEY! I asked if the card could be registered in my husbands name or even mothers as she purchased it and I was told NO. I explained to her that there was nothing more I could provide as they had everything except my blood. I gave them a copy of my Drivers License, they have my SS#, my current address, my previous address, phone number, activation number and card number. What more would I have to do to get MY OWN MONEY back to me. I then asked to speak with a supervisor. After 15 minutes on hold, I began to speak with a supervisor (Heidi) who pretty much sounded like the second rep (Meline) who I had just been speaking with. I explained to her that this was ridiculous, it's a pre-paid card and that I have the receipt in my hand showing where we purchased from them and they have OUR money. I told her I felt like they were stealing from us and that after sending a copy of my drivers license and now them wanting a copy of my SS# Card that I was very weary of their company. I was told it was "Federal Law" to request those items. She then informed me that at that point they wouldn't even except a copy of my SS# card if I were to send it to them. She then told me she would mail me a refund and asked the address to mail it to. I told her I (my mother) made a purchase, they had our money and I wanted the card activated today. She kept refusing and kept asking where to send the refund. I then told her I would contact her back tomorrow after speaking with my step-brother who is an attorney and she stated that she would expedite a refund check out to me via UPS (at no charge to me) and that I should receive it within 3 business days. I agreed but am very weary as to whether or not I will receive it. I find it very suspicious that so much information is need and faxed to obtain money that was GIVEN to me. It's a PRE-PAID Card! Im not applying for credit. This whole experience really has me thinking twice about the manner in which Wal-Mart operates. I even contacted the manager of the Wal-Mart where my mother purchased the card and she thought it sounded strange, yet when she went to discuss it with her manager-she told me nothing could be done on their end. Now, in the meantime...we literally have no money and will be praying UPS delivers the refund. I will never nor anyone I know purchase a card from them again.
Needing all of my personal information faxed to them for a pre-paid card is crazy not to mention still not being able to have access to my money. It's not right and I will defintely take this further. This has left us very bad off at the moment and its not only affecting me and my husband but our children as well. I just pray my personal information goes no further and we receive what is RIGHFULLY ours.
walmart prepaid visa should of been active since the time of purchase the card even so if the card is a tempory one, into you get the real one in the mail only if you got the real one in the mail and loaded it first before activating it could of cause some problem since account wasn't activated with the new card in the first place because the legit one that comes in the mail has to activated online or over the phone its possible also instead of using the the tempory card that was active already you use new real card that came in the mail that wasn't acctive or you loaded it at the store and the cashier did something wrong longest you got receipt or some type proof that it came out some account you able to get your money back. and i was trying best to figure out this mystery since there isn't enough information supplied what you say
DITTO THE EXACT SAME STORY HERE WHAT THEY ARE DOING AGAINST THE LAW AND WE NEED TO BAND TOGETHER AND MAKE THESE GUYS HAVE TO ANSWER FOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THEY BANK ON THE FACT THAT PEOPLE WHO THEY TARGET DON'T HAVE MEANS TO FIGHT BACK AND THEY NEED TO KNOW THAT WE WON'T BE RIPPED OFF BY THEM. GO TO ANY AND EVERYPLACE TO FILE A COMPLAINT FTC, GO FEDERAL, STATE AND COUNTY GO TO THE GOVERMENT WEBSITE FOR YOUR STATE TELL ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY YOU CAN AND WITH A LITTLE LUCK WE WILL GET JUSTICE MAYBE WE WON'T SEE OUR MONEY AGAIN BUT IT WOULD BE WORTH EVERY PENNY TO SEE THEM GET WHAT THEY DESEVE.
This is common and just another fleecing of America. Wal-mart is a communist enterprise. Yes, I said it "Communist Enterprise!" They sell a majority of goods made in communist countries for up to ten times the amount it costs to produce and ship the items. Not only do they fleece America buy turning a huge volume profit on defective goods, they contribute to a large scale problem of environmental damage. They know full well that within 60 days a large percentage of their inferior products will end up in American landfills.
This company is criminal to say the least and should be prosecuted for their actions. The most un-American company on the planet.
Want to Support Communism? Shop at Wal-mart. Sam is turning over in his grave.
video game return
Approximately 1 week ago my son (he's 10) purchased a DS video game, Madden 09'. Yesterday, 2/17/09 we attempted to return the item due to it having a "glitch" causing the game to not work properly. We had the original receipt and bag. At first I was told we had to exchange the item for the exact same item. Upon checking the game area in the Electronics Section, I found that they were out of the item. Upon returning to "Customer Service", I was then informed that my son still could not have his money back to allow him to purchase the game elsewhere. We were then informed that we had to pick out another game. When I objected to this, I was informed that the stores policy was exchange only due to the item being opened. I explained that there was no way to know the item was defective without opening it. At that time I asked to speak with a manager. The associate retrieved "someone" from the back room, who had no Walmart identification, yet claimed she was the manager. She also refused to refund my 10 year old son his money. When I attempted to inform her of the issue at hand, she continually spoke over me about Walmart's Return Policy on opened electronics. I then became irate and again attempted to explain how 1st I was told the policy was exchange for same item only, when that didn't work to their favor (due to being out of stock); 2nd I was told to pick another game. When I refused the 3rd thing I was told was that they would give us store credit. They (Walmart) got their money and were refusing to give a 10 year old a refund on a defective item. After being left with no other choice, but to take the "store credit", I informed my son that I would make good to him on the money/game that he was out. It doesn't say much when a large cooperation treats a 10 year old as if he was attempting to rip them off. Some cooperate image. I personally spend $2500 OR MORE a year at Walmart. Money I used to spend there on back to school clothes/supplies, birthdays, groceries, etc. If this is how they plan on treating their customers then I WILL shop elsewhere! Short of an apology to my son and me, as well as something for my son's aggravation by the way we were treated, Walmart has lost a family of spending and we will tell our extended family, friends and my co-workers, DO NOT SHOP AT WALMART!

so i called the copy right law office in washington d.c. i waited like 30 min untill some lady picked up the phone. according to her there is no such law its just a store policy that says u cant return something cuz thats how they basically dont lose money. if u really not sure about a game wat you do is buy it used at gamestop. gam, estop and eb games give you 7 days to try he game so if you didnt like it return it. if you liked it and want to just get a new one exchange it as simple as that. foocking WALMART IS GAY. target gives u 90 days and dont really give a [censored]., besdt buy has the sme policythe number to the copyright office in washington dc is [protected]
Get this one.. My eldest stepson was watching his six year old brother. The stupid stepson let his little brother go into WalMart with $150 by HIMSELF to buy video games. Stupid WalMart sold a six year old Call of Duty Black Ops (rated M for mature) and Star Wars The Force Unleashed II (rated T for teen). I'm not even going to go there about the stupid brother letting the six year old go into WalMart with $150, that was a rage in itself and big brother will no longer be watching little brother. So, anway, WalMart sold the six year old these games! Mom and dad find out about it and mom goes to take the brand new unopened games back to the store (as she found them under the six year olds bed). Of course I can not find a receipt because neither knucklehead knows what they did with it. So, already realizing they will NOT give me the money back as no receipt, I was thinking that they would give me a store credit for them (as I do a lot of shopping at WalMart). So, not only did the store BREAK THE LAW by selling these games to a six year old. But they told me that I would have to exchange the games for exact cost merchandise even though they were unopened! WTF? There were no age appropriate games at $59.96 for a six year old for the video game system we have. They would not let me get games that were $49.96 as they had a couple that I would have gotten and let them keep the extra $10 a game. Nope... I ended up having to exchange them for games my husband may or may not want and the $140 is coming off big brothers Christmas present to refund his little brother for 1) letting him take all his saved up money to the store and blowing it. 2) for letting him go into WalMart by himself. 3) For not immediately turning right back around and returning the games when he saw what his brother bought and 4) For loosing the receipt! I find it outrageous that since it was WalMart's error that this transpired that I couldn't get a store credit. I'm done with WalMart. There are plenty of other stores out there, that are much mor accommodating.
OMG! JUST BECAUSE ITS YOUR KID, THEY HAVE TO GIVE HIM WHAT HE WANTS? THATS NOT HOW THE WORLD WORKS. THE POLICY APPLIES TO THE CONSUMER, AND IF YOUR KID WAS INCLUDED, TOUGH [censor], YOU PROBABLY SPOIL HIM AND WANT HIM TO HAVE EVERYTHING DESPITE THE RULES... NOT GONNA HAPPEN, IN THE REAL WORLD, START LEARNING "10 YR OLD"
This is all a bunch of bull.. it is not a federal regulation that Wal-mart or any other store in America has to abide by. It is a federal regulation stating that for example.. Wal-mart will not be refunded for opened video games that they accept back from customers. So point blank, they can refund your money, they just choose not to. because god forbid that a 50.00 loss on a video game should put a crunch in their million dollar day. I just had the same experience and needless to say that after 20 years of patronage, I am done with that damn place. And I also am a former employee of this corporation and I do know that they rip people off with their "policies" and they schedule 12 cashiers yet only have 3 on hand at the check outs because they KNOW people will wait. no they EXPECT people to wait. they know you aren't going to leave your cart there and walk out and go to another store and have to do all of your shopping all over again. its sad really. that this is how people get treated when they CHOOSE to spend their money at a specific retailer and support this business, and then they get treated like crap. 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed. right. only if it benefits them at the same time.
As a former employee, I can say this for Wal-mart returns on electronics items -- Computer games, etc.
Because of copyright issues and policies with the company who actually distributes computer games to Wal-mart (computer games are not actually "Wal-mart products" actually owned and distributed by another company), open computer games cannot be returned for a flat-out cash refund, even if a customer paid for a game with cash...with or without a receipt or if it is past Wal-mart's refund policy guidelines.
The manager was not out-of-line in this case, offering another product or offering a gift card instead because they didn't have the item. It wasn't that the manager didn't want to refund the money. By law, they are not allowed to once any electronic game is opened...even if a customer has a receipt. What I used to tell customers is, check the title before you open it to make sure it is what you want. If it is defective, I can exchange it or the exact same title but cannot exchange for a different title unless it is out of stock. By law, any defective merchandise is not suppose to be allowed back on store shelves, though I am informed in some Wal-marts merchandise makes it back onto the shelf.
Don't be mad at management for following company policy. If you don't like a store's return policy, you don't have to shop there. Best policy is to find out a store's return policy before you ever have to return something. Then, if you do need to return an item, you know what returns the store will and will not accept. Not every store (Walgreens, Best Buy, Freddie Meyer) etc has the same return policy.
Management at Wal-mart didn't treat you unfairly by offering to exchange your game for a new unopened game of the same title. Normally, this is what happens. However, when someone learned they were out of the title you wanted, they offered to give you another title. Since you didn't want another title, they offered to give you a gift card so that you could purchase the item the next time it was on the store shelf. On rare occasions, I, myself, have witnessed times when a customer purchased a game, it was defective and the company didn't have a replacement and wasn't getting any more of that particular game. They could either choose another title or receive a gift card. They were in the same situation and they didn't complain because they could not get cash back. They understood the store policy.
In any case, I don't think customers should expect something when company policy clearly states electronic items must be unopened to get a cash refund.
Clearly, when the store couldn't help you...because of federal copyright issues, you do have other options. You can take your game, call Nintendo itself and ask what they do about defective merchandise, since it is their game. They may have been able to ship you a new game...or refunded your money, in accordance with thier policies.
I have brought food in the store before which was out of date. Instead of taking it back to Wal-mart, I simply called the company. Do you know what the company did, they reimbursed me twice the price I paid for the item...so I could go back and by two more of the same product.
Don't blame the system if you aren't happy with it. Work with it or take your rights as a shopper and go elsewhere.
First off yeah there is a copyright law in place otherwise the media market would crash...movies, games all of it. Just imagine buying one movie, watching it and bringing it back for another and another and another. How would anyone make any money? So yeah the information you were told about exchange only for the same item was right.
Now about them being out of the game and not giving you a refund. I'm a manager at a walmart and if you had a receipt and we were out I'd suggest another exchange but if not a refund should not have been a problem. The copyright police aren't going to burst in and start kicking [censor] and no one is going to get sued it's just simple customer service and I'm sure any studio or game developer would agree.
On the flip side if this is the second or third time I've seen you up there for an exchange like this and it's a short enough time frame that I actually remember you (since I don't have to go to the front that often). Then sorry youll probably be SOL cause I'm just not going to trust you and I'll have a policy to back up the decision.
Also don't listen to Neal. He sounds a little disgruntled. I have people working for me just like him and truthfully they are a pain in the [censor]. You have to watch what you say because a simple "hey we need to move this older merchandise" turns into "the managers are forcing me to push this awful merchandise on customers and I think it's wrong because I like to create drama". I've worked here eleven years in several different stores and I've never heard of half the stuff he is talking about. Now talking about customers oh yeah, you act stupid in the store or come in looking all crazy were going to talk some smack in the back with the other managers I mean who wouldn't? Some of its venting and some of it just helps the day move along. Anyway cheers!
Also don't
Don't blame Walmart, it's not their policy that's the problem. I work for a Walmart in Maine. It's not our policy that prevents us from being able to refund customers the money for an opened video game, it's federal copyright laws. If Walmart refunded you the money the associate who did it would get fired, the Manager who ok'd it would get fired and the company would be sued by federal government. I understand your frustration, but it's actually not Walmart's fault, though some would like you to think so. Not trying to defend them, but the facts are the facts. It's illegal for Walmart to refund a video game, DVD, CD, or PC software.
Damn Wal-mart for following those Copyright Laws! & Lady there are people that spend over $30, 000 a Month at Wal-Mart - let it go.
one thing is that if you open a game or software you cannot return unless it is defective. What happens if the game or the software suck or nice way of saying it would be not satisfied with the game or software you are stuck with it. I have had this happen with Battlefield bad company 2 for the PC the game is garbage but I cannot return it.
If you buy a TV and happy with the purchase you can return it for exchange or money back the software or games you cannot.
you pay big bucks for the games and software and cannot return it. I hate that now I'm stuck with the game battlefield bad company 2 that I don't like playing and also wasted like $80 for it.
pissed off
Mac, you're a ### for 1. Spelling the word 'good' like 'godo'. But anyway, yesterday night I bought Cabela's Big Game Hunts '10. Sucked, it was just terrible. So I got my cousin who works there to take it back and I got my money back. Sucks for you guys!

I bought a prepaid visa and i am not a happy camper. The wal mart sales associate was happy to sell it to me but not so happy when confronted about not explaining about the product. I was unaware that the temp card was one time use. It took the personalized card 3 weeks to come in the mail which was supposedley coming in 7-10 bus.days, and by that time my brother had lost the green dot refill pack number. We use it as a source to wire money to each other but are in search of a new method because we are SICK AND TIRED OF BEING TRIPLE CHARGED! This damn card charges at the atm and at the card company then again every month. Lord forbid u want to call and discuss the matter oh that will be another charge.I'm a big girl can deal with being ripped off just not by rich corps like wal mart. It is bad enough the way they treat their employees. E mail me @[protected]@yahoo.com for the class action law suit. Im serious.

I went to walmart to load a check I had received for $100.oo and decided to add $50.00 cash along with it. The Money Center was closed, ( 4pm) as usual, so I had to stand behind 12 people making exchanges, wiring money etc. I was charged $3.00 for the check to be loaded, then the dummy couldnt add the cash along with it, so another $3.00 goes to walmart on a separate transaction. Now I get the pleasure of spending more money with every transaction... $2.00 per purchase. Old Sam must be rolling in his grave... while we try to make ends meet. So much for American enterprise.
im right there with u on this, thease ppl are making mad money off this and if ur not paying attention, ull never evan know it, it seems so innocent. they evan charge for not using the card its called inactivity fee." then another maintenance fee every month, thats not evan touching ne other usege charges theve got hidden in there, check this out i was reading up on there card holder aggrement, tell me what u think about this, "Changes; Waiver. We reserve the right to change, delete or add to this Agreement and to apply any such modification to a Walmart MoneyCard that has been issued to you and to value on your Walmart MoneyCard. We will provide you notice of any such modification as required by applicable law. If we decide not to enforce our rights or charge a fee in one situation, we are not giving up our right to enforce it or to charge the fee in a later situation. " basicly saying ### U WE ARE WALMART, hahaha luv it .they've got some good stuff in there card holder aggrement, check it out,
they ###ing idiots and rip off. thinking about suing them.
Walmart has sank extremely low in the past few years with False Adversting of products and services. It is a ripoff. You are charged a fee to purchase the card, load it with money and then call to activate card. When you call they prompt does not understand what you are saying and takes forever to activate, at the end I was told you are ineligible for a personalized card. Why, who knows! Y0u can't call and talk to a human without being charged. Online services do not prompt for problems. When I returned to the store the clerk, front end lead and manager all say that it is the bank not them. I explained that all I wanted was the fee I paid for the card since I needed to purchase another kind to reload, they refuse, its the bank. So now I have useless reloadable card that is not reloadable. Not the first time I have had trouble with Walmart. Several times in the past gone to purchase items from sale ad they don't have item or when I get item to check out, not on sale. Bait and switch. Walmart not customer friendly anymore, out to screw consumer.
to the person who responded to this lady YOUR A [censored]!, this card is a rip off i have one i thought i would buy it instead of a gift card for gas ( i get 3 cents at the pump using a gift card and at first i got the same using this card! now i don't, I just went to bike week so i put money on to fill my bike, ( figured it was a safe way and the visa would let me use it at places other than walmart! so we stopped 4 times 4-6 dollars per stop! 4x6= 24.00 i put 120 dollars on it for gas, and low and behold stop number 5 declined ( zero balance ? ) so i went online, and called what they do is everytime YOU use the card reader at the pump they take 35 dollars off your card and then within 7 (working days ) refund the difference back to you so i spend 20-24 dollars and they are playing with 100 dollars of my money for 7 days and i had to borrow money from a friend to get home! you figure it out ! they are playing with millions of dollars for 7 day periods for FREE they dont pay you interest but they collect it!
checking receipts before returns?!
What is the point of checking a return receipt and scanning ALL the items, even if you have about 20 of them - BEFORE you even get in line to return your stuff. This is a hassle and does NOTHING to get me through the return line faster, the people that do the returns don't even look at the labels I'm given by the scanner. WASTE OF MY TIME . I'd like to see exactly why they are doing this because the last few times I've had confrontations with this problem, no one could tell me the exact reason, they all just said it is part of their job. I don't care if it's a part of your job, if it's not making me get in and out of the store faster - then it is not beneficial.

I would like to explain the scanning of the items at the door by the Door Greeter for you. Unfortunately, it is to deter theft. When you come in the door and have your item scanned, the Customer Service desk knows that it is a valid return and saves you, the customer, time in the long run. This is to confirm that you actually came thru the door. There are a lot of dishonest people taking items off the shelves on the salesfloor and going directly to Customer Service to return them. I t was difficult to distinguish a valid purchased item with an unopened return that Walmart had no choice but to honor. a refund, therefore losing sales. As for the yellow tags, that is just confirmation that the item was, indeed, scanned at the Greeter Station. I realize it is an inconvenience, but due to the high amount of theft in this day and age, it is necessary.
I totally agree. I recently had to return three items and had to wait while the EXTREMELY slow greeter pulled out her scanner and fumbled with my receipt and items. I watched her with patience KNOWING it would help in the long run, but no, not the case. The customer service people actually put my labels in the bag and threw them away. It was really annoying!
refuse to post bad reviews!
We bought a Golden’s Gym 450 Treadmill and a 3 year Extended Service Plan with it. They suppose to deliver the paperwork via email but we never got it. Be aware that WALMART.COM doesn’t have a phone costumer service anymore. You have to deal with them via email. After we emailed that we never got the instruction how to download the Service Plan paperwork, we got a response with bogus instructions how to get it. Instead of including a link to get the PDF file they directed us to the product webpage and click there on a small link. This is ridiculous! Why is so hard to include a link in the replay email. We received the treadmill in less time (about 8 days) than expected, delivered to home ($30 for home delivery). It runs great and I can not be more pleased with the purchase. Great value for the buck!
I forgot to mention that I submitted two bad reviews on their website about this and they never posted them!
can't get my direct depsoit
For the thrid time this year i'ved to have a replacement card, each time it took two weeks to get my direct deposit of this card, I live from paycheck to paycheck you can't belive what I had to go through not being able to provide for my family for a month, now the card has expired and they are telling a card was sent that I never got so I got to way two more weeks to pay my bills this is unbelivable, i'm so stressed out from this i've come down with shingles, I can't take much more. I got my sister this same card and she put $48.00 dollars on it, she is on a fix income, she was going to pay a bill but decided to keep the money on the card incase of emergency, when she went to used the card about four months later there was no money on the card, they had charged her $5.00 per month just for holding the card that is devastaing. Its a shame that these people are getting away with taking people hard earn money and taking advantage of our seniors citizens this needs to be stopped

Trying to fix their computer problem.
I have young children who believe...we are struggling with money. Had this card for about 3 mons with no issues...them BOOM! This is horrible and ruining Christmas for our kids...tomorrow we will have NOTHING if not fixed right away.
People DO NEED TO READ THE FINE PRINT.
However, one thing that they are starting to do and I don't know whether it is Wal-Mart of GE Money Bank. Anyway, I have direct deposit from both of my jobs and get paid every week. Last week CSR wouldn't answer the telephone and when they finally did they told me they were having computer problems and that was the reason that my direct deposit wasn't in my account and I had to wait until 10:30 a.m. for it to deposit.
Now this week it is 6;00 a.m. (I worked 3rd shif) and my money is still not in my account again.

After you purchase the card, any money taken off is taken off by Green Dot Corporation, not Walmart.
"yall" need to get your facts straight.
Mind you there is a fee when you activate the card...but I'm sure you already knew that since you were smart enough to read the packaging BEFORE you purchased it, right?
...
Guess not.
Theres a monthly fee, reloading fee, certain other fees for certain transactions such as withdrawing money from the card...
And guess who collects those fees? Green Dot Corporation.
Walmart is a distributor, Green Dot runs the account.
Blame them, and yourself. Mostly yourself.
buyer beware
For Christmas, I wanted to give my kids (all in their late teens and early twenties) some extra spending money. I thought it would be nice if it wasn't just cash so that they could wait and use it when they wanted to buy something they wanted.
I heard about the WalMart 'Smart Money' prepaid VISA card. VISA should be horrified. They charged me a fee of about $8 per card to load the card. Then when my kids went to use the card they found out about all of the other fees.
Fee to check balance, fee to reload the card (its not enough that they get to use your money - they want a ridiculous fee of another $8+ to reload it).
If you don't use it all in one month, they charge another fee about $4.
This is an excuse to steal and steal from those who can least afford it.
Another example of a once good company turned not just bad but in my opinion, what they are doing with this card is robbery and evil.
By the way, you don't find out about the fees until you have purchased the card - they aren't disclosed up front.
BUYER BEWARE!

We purchased a Vizio TV from Walmart for 178.00
We went home and got everything set up to the point where we turned it on.
The TV did not turn on!
Customer Service was closed by the time we had put everything back into the box to take back.
So we waited first thing in the morning. We went back to Walmart Customer Service and they told
us that the TV's serial number and the serial number on the Box did not match. We were confused
and had no clue what was really going on we just wanted to return the TV and get a working one.
The manager in electronics told the girl in Customer Service that there was NOTHING they could do about it! That manager didn't even wanna come up front to tell us herself. Location: Salt Lake City, UT @ the 1300 south Walmart. Electronics Manager! They didn't even wanna give us our money back or even trade for a WORKING TV! Stupid!
My question is...how do boxes get packed with the wrong product and get sold like that?
Or if it was returned prior to our purchase how did it get back into Walmart with out Customer Service seeing that?
Why would Walmart wanna rip people off like that, I loved shopping at Walmart, but after that incident,
NO MORE! I would rather pay more and get what I paid for than pay less and get ripped OFF!
Walmart should be ashamed, especially the Managers.
decline
I got a walmart money card and I have 100.00 dollars on it and I went to order something online and it kept saying it was declined because of sufficient funds, and whatever I was trying to order was $88.95 so I know I had enough on there for the item I needed.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
wow same thing happened to me! i foolishly went ahead and order something offline. i put 120 on the card and ordered 107 worth off stuff and it said declined! the kicker is they keep the money and wont refund it wtf! i could kill some1!there really needs to be a lawsuit against this scam! 99%of people that own these r poor like me and cant afford to legaly pursue this scam.such a joke...wait its not! please some 1 with the means sue these fkers!
I got a $50.00 gift card which cost over $54.00. When I tried to make online orders my card was declined but the order was still charged to the card. I feel like such a sucker!
I hardly ever have money to spend and for this to just be a total loss is pretty sad. Plus, I can't count the times I've had to enter my card number dealing with ordering and now trying to contact some kind of customer service.
They just give you the electronic runaround.
What I want to know is, who has the money? The merchants or VISA or Walmart? I sure don't have it! I paid good money for this card and I feel cheated and foolish for even stepping foot in Walmart again.
fraudulent billing
Wal-Mart will not let me cancel my insurance until Oct. 2009. I have another job that covers me but wal-mart says that I have to keep it until open enrollment. They are still deducting from my check the amount for insurances but will not pay for services rendered. When ever the dentist filed a claim, it came back coverage expired. But I am still paying for insurance! They are still deducting it out of my little check!

have charge 39.99 part phone [protected] do not what this charge is unable to find need help thank yiu
oops, there, not their...sleepy today.
Are you still working part-time at Walmart and the other job is a second job? That's the only way this makes sense. As for dentist bills, are you sure you are actually covered? Dental is separate and their is a one year waiting period for major dental coverage. Up until you've had the insurance for a year, it only covers routine exams and preventative. More info is needed on this.
how could wal mart take money out of the persons check if they no longer work there
awful service
I went to this particular Walmart to get two tires balanced and put on my truck. Seems like a pretty simple job to me, but not for these folks. I should have known better, the gentleman in front of me needed a tail light replaced. They removed a clear bulb and replaced it with a yellow one!
Anyway, I told the young man behind the counter what I needed done and told him that occasionally my clutch would stick to the floor which could be popped back up with his foot. He said that was fine, no problem. It was a two hour wait, which I agreed to and left for a while.
I returned in two hours to see my truck sitting outside of the garage door and the tires had not been put on. I went inside to see maybe if I was next in line and the boy told me I had no brakes and needed to get my truck towed. I told him my brakes were fine and went to see for myself. I got into my truck and pushed the brakes and brake fluid came pouring out.
I was very upset at this point and the automotive manager came out and told me I should get it towed. I asked him what had happened and he said there were no brakes in my truck when the went to pull it in. I told him my brakes were just fine I had just driven it there. He proceeded to tell me that I couldn't have driven it there because the brakes were busted before they had got into the truck.
I was fuming at this point because I know my brakes were fine and now I had a busted brake line. Of course, I had to get it towed and when the tow truck driver got there I tried to pull my truck onto it and SURPRISE! My clutch was busted as well. I refuse to ever go back to this Walmart and have considered taking this to small claims court.
I drive my truck everyday back and forth to work with no problem. I just find it coincidental that my brake line and clutch was busted at the same time in Walmart's care. I am lost at this point and do not believe I am responsible for something they had done.

i had a similar situation where they broke my seat. they said they would fix it until they found out that it would cost 1000 dollars. they then turned it over to their insurance company.wal marts insurance company said they were not responsible for the employee breaking my seat because it happened as a result of the employee carrying out his job duty. I asked if he had ran my jeep into the building would it still not be their fault because it is his job to drive it inside! GOOD LUCK!
can't receive text bal or a lerts to cell phone as instructed
The prepaid Walmart money card visa has become a mess. I was very happy eith it but now all of a sudden I can't get my bal to my phone per the 96862 number, the daily text alerts that are suposed to del. bal doesn't work. When I called customer service I had to pay a $2.00 fee and then they said they had no control that it was my phone co. that's not true because the walgreens greendot visa works just fine. The problem is with Walmart and this needs to be fixed. This is suposed to be a convience for us the consumer but it has turned into a great hassle. Walmart will be happy to take my money but won't deliver their promises. The card is useless if you can check your bal when you need to. Someone needs to fix this problem or I will take my money somewhere else.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I had the same problem. I went back to Netspend because Walmarts emails and SMS messages didn't work as promised. IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT but they try to blame it on you.
"prepaid Walmart money card visa", "walgreens greendot visa", "problem is with Walmart", "Walmart will be happy to take my money"
God I don't know where to start raging.
Guess what? That fancy Walmart MoneyCard of your's, its a GreenDot card. Just like The Walgreens one. Same company. Same customer service. Notice that nifty green dot on the card that says GreenDot? Yeah. [censored].
Walmart, just like Walgreens, sells the cards, which are produced and serviced by GREEN DOT.
Main difference? Walmart is actually less expensive to purchase and reload.
According to Walgreens' website, its almost $10 to purchase one. Its only $3 at Walmart.
Also: The problem isn't Walmart. It might be GreenDot, it might be your cellphone provider, but it's probably you.
Walmart sold you the card. Of course you didn't read anything on the packaging, made stupid assumptions about how it works, and now you look like an idiot.
"Walmart will be happy to take my money"
The money you give Walmart to put on your card...guess what? It goes on your card. Walmart gets a whopping $3 out of whatever it is you are loading onto your cart.
GreenDot collects the monthly fees. They probably even get a share of the $3 reloading fee.
I can't activate card
I have tried to activate the card and they said that I need the activation number on the receipt. Of course I don't have it. I called the person that I got it from and they don't have the receipt any more. So how do you activate the card. This is so rediculous that you have to have a number to activate a card. When someone purchases the card the people need to make sure the person who is purchasing the card tells them you need the receipt with the card. You can't you us the number on the card and the 3 numbers on the back. This has taken time out of my business day. It is frustration to me.
pot heads
i used to work in the tire lube at salem, ohio walmart. there are people working on your car that no nothing about cars. my manager was a big fat ### from the pet department but she sucked enuff ### to get the t.l.e. support manager position. this woman would tell us to put wrong oil in cars and do things to cars we shouldn't! so before you get your vehicle serviced you mite wanna smell the air and see if you can smell the pot burnin from the dopeheads workin on your car at salem wal-mart!

iin April of 2008 I took my van to a WIchita Wal Mart for an oil change. When I returneed a large window was smashed out. tHEY TOLD ME IT WAS THAT WAY WHEN i BROUGHT IT IN AND DIDN'T NOTICE IT. I wrote about it on this site. I have since went to small cLaims court where they showed a pitiful security tape of my van approaching the shop. They convinced the judge the window was broken out because you could see through the window. I invited the judge to go out and look at my van windows and see you can see through them. He wouldn't listen. I appealed but I had no lawyer and they did. They pulled the same story and had 2 witrnesses who lied through their teeth. Thei lawyer said they didn't want a transcript but I requessted one-thank goodness. Again the judge didn't look at the pictures clearly. He didn't notice in the picture I took right after it was broken that you can clearly see 2 vehicles (1 a Wal Mart truck) thriugh the wundow on the opposite side. OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN SEE TRHOUGH THE WINDOWS. tHEY PRESENTED A DAMAGE REPORT STATING THE WINDOW WAS BROKEN WHEN iIBROUGHT IT IN BUT NO MENTION OF A BROKEN WINDOW IS ON THE WORK SHEET. tHE "GREETER" SAID HE WALkED AROUND MY VAN IN A "WALK AROUND" AND NOTED THE BROKEN WINDOW. hOWEVER THE SECURITY FILM CLEARLY SHOWS HE NEVER SET FOOT AROUND THE VAN. THERe IS AN INSIDE SHOT THAT SHOWS A GLARE ON THE WINDOW AS IT WENT INSIDE. iT'S VERY ODD THAT DURING THE WHOLE TAPE NO ONE IS SEEN TO BE WORKING ON THE VAN-IS SOME OF The TAPE MISSING? THERE ARE OUTRIGHT WRONGFUL STATEMENTS BY BOTH WITNESSES. i'D LIKE TO FIND PEOPLE INTERESTED IN A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT. i STILL HAVE A SIGN OVER THE WINDOW SPACE SAYING, "ASK ME HOW I LIKED MY WAL MART OtL CHANGE!" THE RESPONSES HAVE BEEN OVER WHELMING. THE MAIN COMPLAINTS ARE: OIL PLIGS LEFT OUT RESULTING IN A BURNED UP MOTOR, OIL FILTERS INCORFRECTLY INSTALLED, AND WHEELS THAT CAME OFF AFDTER WHEEL/TIRE WORK. i DOL NOT HAVE A COMPUTER SO HAVE TO GO ON LINE IN LIBRARIES. I'D WELCOME A CONTGACT AT [protected]. iIHAVE THE WHOLE TRANSCRIPT AND SECURITY TAPE. I MANAGHED TO FILE WITH APPELLATE COURT BUT COULD NOT FINISH THE PROCESS ON MY OWN. I JUST AGREED IN COURT TO DROP THATG PROCESS WITH THE UNDERSTANDING I WOULD EXPLORE OTHER AVENUES. SIGNED, A MAD GRANNY IN KANSAS
1800 number
you want to know why there's no jobs for americans, because they have layed real people off so that the computer can do peoples jobs. i absolutly hate calling 1800 numbers where u call and a computer ask u questions and ur response is "i'm sorry I'm having a hard time understanding u.", then u have to keep repeating yourself over and over intil the computer understands you. i called this walmart visa activation number to activate my new card and i had to call three times because the computer counldn't understand how to spell my name, this, and like everyone else i was charged 2$ to give my information that they wantede. i bought this card to pay my bills so i wouldn't be charged extra fees, like to pay my light bill it cost me 1.25$, my gas 1.00$, and now my cable company charges me .99 to send a paper bill and 1.00$ to pay it at the office. so i got this card to pay my bills online only to find out that i have more service fees, and a 1800 number i can;t get through to. ANGRY AMERICAN

Once the card is swiped and the signature bar shows up, you have crossed into the land of no return. Transaction can't be stopped. Once you swiped, you petty much authorized the charge, signature or not. You don't sign online, either, but the charge goes through. By the way, reversing the charge can take 7-.10 days. That's not Walmarts policy, its the credit card company
You can't press charges when you made the mistake and gave the wrong card. Next time be more careful.
