I'm not sure if Walmart is the one at fault here with the main issue but they are at fault for taking no action on the issue at hand. I have 2 gift cards, one for $500 and the other for $300. I contacted Applebee's customer service and asked them if they could put a hold on the cards so they couldn't be used. An untrustworthy character had card and pin numbers for both. I was told they had nothing to do with cards purchased through 3rd party retailers. I was told Walmart was responsible. Walmart's customer service informed me Applebee's was the responsible party. After going back and forth using different numbers I found, I got absolutely nowhere. Now, the $500 card shows a balance of zero. I called both parties and asked again, informing each that the $500 card was depleted. Still, neither party would budge on doing anything. I am a customer to both of them. Even though each party felt they weren't responsible, since I am a customer to both, you would think at least one of the two would have put in some effort to contact the other. Especially after hearing about the $500 loss. I was actually phone blocked on 2 different occasions by Walmart for calling too much. I was polite with each call too. This must happen a lot. Walmart actually transfers you over to Applebee's.? It's time to get this straightened out between these two companies. I'm making an identical complaint about Applebee's as well. Thank you in advance Complaints Board. I'm not sure what I would have done if I didn't run into your site. I had run out of options looking for different ways to make contact with each company. Please, if you will, give each my contact information when you inform them of the issues.

Additional information ( Edit )
---UPDATE---
Since my original post, the second card was depleted. That makes the full $800 lost. It was because one of the two companies didn't know they were responsible for shutting the cards down. That's what you do, you suspected fowl play, you have whatever card it may be and get the company to put a hold on it/them

This will explain the pics posted -
1) Contact numbers I used for Applebee's.
2) Contact numbers I used for Walmart...
There was an additional number but I don't have it . I did a chat at walmart.com-help. The number I was given ended up being a store. I never actually spoke to a person about it but was blocked after 2 calls.
3/4) Back pics of the physical cards minus pin numbers
5) Walmart receipt.
Red shows amount spent and cards bought (Applebee's ).
Yellow shoes date of purchase and time of purchase.
.
Claimed loss: $500, so far.
Desired outcome: That the company at fault understands it was their responsibility. And, that both companies sharpen up their customer relations and take an extra step beyond the shoulder shrug.Reimbursement for the loss.

Best friend I ever had :-)
It's really strange that both companies are pointing fingers at each other without resolving the issue 🤔
You did the right thing by writing the complaint. We've sent it to Walmart and they'll have your contact details when they log into the website.
I think it's great that you also plan to file a similar complaint with Applebee's. Often public reviews can really get the ball rolling on finding a resolution 💪
