illegal racketeering
Pharmacist at Wallgreen, Lomita city California attempted to refuse giving brand name meds ordered by my primary physican. all the time, every times the pharmacist refilled generic meds instead of brand name ordered by my primary Doctor'e priscription. The pharmacist failed to provide my wife and me legal documentation or policy regarding the reason why she, the pharmacist refilled generic meds. the pharmacist discouraged me and my wife to take the meds of brand name using all kind of excuse.
incompetent rude stupid weird pharmacists
walgreens almost always seems to have really rude incompetent and stupid pharmarcists...for some reason...i went to a walgreens on lake underhill in the past and another and both said they couldn't get my insurance to accept it or waht not-- then once had to speak to my mother and they figured it all out--why can pharmacists not figure out how to get...
Read full review of Walgreens and 6 commentswhen did a drug store become a hospital?
When did a drug store become a hospital? Why are pharmacist giving flu shots or shots of any kind? The dirty secret is because Walgreens makes so much money on the flu shots. They charge $30 when it only cost them a few dollars. That is more than a $25 profit. It all comes down to MONEY! The pharmacists are forced to do this otherwise they will lose their jobs. They take a ONE DAY class and then they practice on each other. And now they are ready to give shots? I can't believe the drop in professionalism but I guess any can poke a needle into your arm after one day of class. In fact, drug addicts are much better at it than anyone.
The pharmasists are disgruntled but what can they do. They are doing so many things and to give shots on top of it. There is no real area set up to do this and with the running around there is a possibiltiy that things can get contaminated.
They should have a professional nurse focussed on administering the shots and explaining all the details. They can also answer any questions and not rush to do other things. That is the proper way.
Walgreens customer service has seriously declined since they started aggressively pushing flu shots. The pharmacists are now no longer available to do the job of filling prescriptions as they are usually off giving flu shots during working hours. As a physician, I have made a concerted effort not to send prescriptions to Walgreens during the fall when the pharmacists no longer make filling prescriptions a priority. My patients filling prescriptions have had excessive wait times for their medications and my nurses and I have had excessive wait times on hold to speak with a pharmacist about prescriptions. Walgreens may consider aggressively marketing flu shots to be a means of increasing revenue, but it may likely backfire as more physicians feel like I do that they no longer provide good service filling prescriptions.
Apparently, it does take a genius. I had a flu shot in Sept of 2011. The administrator stood over me and shot down from the top of my shoulder. The initial flu shot pain never ended. In fact, it grew incredibly worse. Almost a year later, I cannot sleep or stop the pain. I will turn in my notice to my job within the week because I cannot do what is required. Am I a creep seeking disability? No. I am already receiving my $700 social security, which I obviously need to supplement--so I cannot now claim disability. Our life is devastated! Walgreens needs to properly train their shot administrators.
Zacko, don't you have homework to finish?
You don't like it do not go there for one and let everyone else make the decision of where to get the flu shot. CVS is the horrible store not them. You must work for CVS to try to make them look bad. Well your CVS got me fired because an employee made a false claim about me sexually harassing her.
That is great Julie that those options are available to you, but not all employers or bases offer what you are suggesting.
Do like I did, get yours at work. When they send the serums to the base, they send enough for all of the military and a certain percentage of the civilians. Once the military are done, civilians can get them until they run out. And it's free too. My Dr. office used to do a flu shot clinic but stopped a couple of years ago. Pissed me off. But, since they are free on base, I don't complain anymore. :)
It doesn't take a geniusor MD to administer an innoculation.
'Yes, heaven forbid a business should actually try to make money." Obviously the OP knows that. No need to trash the review like that.
The Fact Police have arrived.
they seem to enjoy making me suffer
Needed a prescription refilled. My insurance only pays for 15 days worth per month so I needed to purchase my uninsured portion of my medication (days 16-30) and was willing to pay cash for it. Despite having the appropriate prescription to match the full 30 supply they would not give me this second half of my medication. I want to reassert the fact that I was willing to pay cash for this. They refused to listen or even call the doctor despite the fact that the prescription reflected exactly what I was saying. This has happened at least 4 times before. I'm sick of this and wanted to complain because this is ridiculous and they seem to enjoy making me suffer.
treat employees bad
I use to work at a Walgreens in Texas. I was there for 2 years & had a family problem & had to deal with it. My manager got mad that I called in to work even though my nephew was placed in the ICU. He didn’t have a heart at all. When I returned to work to do my job, I was told that I had posted something bad about Walgreens on my myspace. I had posted something about how “I didn’t care for my job like I use to due to the lack of heart & understanding within the system.” It wasn’t anything horrible. So since I was fed up with being pushed around I ended up quitting the next day. It wasn’t just them telling me they were going to put me on probation without pay that hurt .. I worked my butt off for that place. Was excellent at my job & was one of 3 other employees that cared about who they worked for. I felt like I got pushed around because I was a college student who worked the cosmestics counter & I didn’t have a kid so I didn’t deserve respect. Well .. Now I can say out here & out loud, screw you Walgreen’s. I hope CVS over powers them. That is all.
I worked there for a year. Thought it was a great place with nice people...but it was just a bait tactic. Slowly I began to notice their attitudes shifting. I would end up coming in early... staying late... covering others shifts. At first no problem I love working but it became a constant until I was taken advantage of. It became a hostile environment to the point I was getting blamed for others faults. Others taking multiple breaks. But when I ask for one I get ignored or they would make me feel bad especially on days I was staying 10 hours . The others who call off all the time or no call no show for a week no discipline. I have a death in family and needed grievance time I got nothing but horrible remarks and snickered behind my back. Everyone making me feel worse about my death in my family saying I was inconveniencing them. Then unfortunately have another family member who ended up I'm icu I asked to take my pto and they were so nasty and mean unconsiderate. Instead they fired me and said I am replaceable basically threw me away laughed over the phone telling me I no longer work for the company. Whereas others had deaths got ample time to grieve and use their pto. My 40 plus pto was thrown away . Walgreens is a horrible place to work for. I really loved my job. But they caused much depression and anxiety. They pick and choose their favorites and if your not one of them say goodbye. They don't care about anyone who works for them.

i used to work for walgreens as well and was there for 6 months, they gave the pot head employee a raise and made him a manager, while me being a college grad never once showed up late, never did bad at my job, and was also employee of the month. i got pushed around like garbage there and their problem was they couldn't move me to 1st shift or 2nd because they couldn't find a replacement for an entire 3 months of waiting.. meanwhile people in 2nd shift were quitting left and right. the day i told them i wanted to put in my 2 weeks notice, they told me they already found a replacement and said i can just go home. the other manager stayed quiet in the room chuckling as i told him the 3rd shift has been causing me insomnia and a boat load of health problems. i later found out through other employees there that i got black listed and can never work at Walgreen ever again. this company is evil and corrupt and i say they treat all employees like trash all over the country. they are a cancer on society with all their (genetically modified organisms) GMO products and over sugarcoated chocolate candy pushing. these people cause people to become sick and need their pharmaceutical drugs. even their multivitamins and supplements are FAKE, contains cellulose and a bunch of chemicals that lead to no beneficial vitamin intake at all. this company needs to be sued and SHUTDOWN. i learned a lot while only being there for 6 months i know how to research and i found allot of red flags. i would never go back to that evil place ever again... not even to shop there.
I recently fell through the top shelf on the bays in the stock room at my Walgreens my back is killing me and i already have a L&I lawyer. I am in the process of finding a lawyer to sue them for unsafe work condition and injury since my back is now screwed. I hope i can get the duck taping ladder ways changed.
I really hope some employee sues the heck out of Walgreens. I know a diabetic has a lawsuit going.
After 4 months of working in the Walgreens photo lab I knew the company was evil, so I just drank on the job.
I was recently let go after 4 years... Never missed 1 single day for that company, worked harder than anyone, went out of my way for my customers( whom I adore). I became stl 2 years ago but was doing the same exact job (most times more) than the assistant managers and getting paid $4 hr less than them and then let go for taking a coupon from a customer who didn't want it and using it for my purchases and their coupons didn't add up right so they said I took it but I called payroll to ask about my banked sick days and was told ..." you lost them...nothing we can do for you" I thought this was a good company but I was wrong... If you're thinking about a career with Walgreens...please " RETHINK " !
Walgreens do not know how to treat their good workers! I have worked there for over 10 years. Never late, always did my best, put in the unpaid over time (salaried), was a great worker. When I applied for higher positions, it is the a kissers that got the job - Not the hard worker. I'm sorry - Walgreens Managers - that I didn't spray you with a can of Kiss-A$$! HOPE THAT KARMA WILL WORK ITS COURSE! HOPE YOU ROT! GO CVS!
walgreens realy does have a problem when it comes to hiring management. they seem to choose the laziest people for asst. managers
costly error
February 2009 my husband was given the wrong dosage of medicine from Walgreens Pharmacy. He became ill when we noticed that there had been a higher level of a drug that had been prescribed for him had been taken. I immediately contacted Walgreens and spoke with the pharmacy and was spoken to very rudely and hung up on. Because of those actions, I contacted the corporate office to complain about the error and customer service that I had received. The next day, my husband passed away. Prior to his transition, I spoke with an pharmacy area manager who started an investigation on why the wrong dosage was given and the reason for the rudeness. Her report was that there was no justification for the series of events it was just a human error. The manager gave me her name, her boss' name and all contact information if needed. Time has gome by and since I have been working with George Bryant with Sedwick, the claims portion for Walgreen's. I have provided the death certificate, medical reports, autopsy reports and all that had been requested. George Bryant last week made an offer of $5, 000 for the life of my husband and the error made by Walgreens. My husband's life may not have been worth more to Walgreens but it certainly was to my son and myself. I want more.

I am currently persuing legal actions with Walgreens and being offered a settlement. I had oral surgery and the doctor called in the prescription. I did not know everything I was picking up just trusted that Walgreens would give me whatever my doctor called in for me. They forgot to give me my antibiotic and it landed me in the emergency room and emergency surgery. I spent the next week recovering in ICU. If I did not go to the hospital that night I would not have made it. I had to spend all my wedding money on catching up on finances. You have up to 3 years to file a case I strongly urge you to. You cannot put a price on a person’s life. Sorry for your loss. My prayers are with your family.
abusive store manager
I'm a employee of this store, our store manager is a abusive : he treats us slave just like workers in the
third world/ if not thinks we are robots. I know that we are not going to win on this case b'coz he is been
back by the district. All of our employees has a low moral. He even threaten us that he can fire us on our
job. This a verbal abuse. If there will be an investigation we hope you just talk to all emplyees who are
the front liners.
Learn to use your spell check, you ###. You work at walgreens, how hard can you really be working?
no support for firefox
They have continuous problems with their website (photo). Most of the problems are javascript related. Today (27 September 2011), on two separate occasions, I telephoned customer service and they indicated that they were aware of the problems, and that the tech person (singular) was working to resolve the issue. I was also told that I may experience problems if I use continue to use Firefox or Google Chrome.
On 19 September I also complained about the javascript errors in Photo, and that I could not "checkout" when ordering prints. That complaint resulted in an email reply from someone named Sherre M. in customer service wherein she replied "I apologize for the inconvenience. I have credited your account 20 Free 4x10 prints as thanks for your patience while our support team resolve this issue."
It is rather obvious that Walgreens continues to be plagued with website issues... using Firefox Error Console, you can always find, "easy to correct errors" in javascripting that their "tech person" hasn't corrected, or doesn't know how to correct.
Shame, shame...

I'm kind of surprised at your indignation here, actually. You made complaints unrelated to service and instead related to website glitches which Walgreens has informed you they are working on...and you actually received what appear to be timely responses! I'm surprised a big company like Walgreens has agents working to please those who use their website. Granted, when you have a timely to submit photos glitches are annoying and even life-altering (like printing photos for a class project, due that day) but otherwise, a little inconvenience won't kill you, and you've been assured the problem will be fixed. You even got some free photos out of the deal. I'd like some free photos...
nightmare
Walgreens is the absolute WORST place in the world to get an RX, rent medical equipment from or try and get a sale item advertised. Woe be it if you are an employee at Walgreens. - FORGET ABOUT IT. I have a loved on who works at the Corporate Office. I had believed in the Walgreens. Family First! Sounds good – sure not the facts! Walgreens bills the customers far after they should. Clearly the insurance company indicated the rental equipment has exceeded the purchase price. What does Walgeens do – continue to bill. This is after NUMEROUS conversation and they say they will correct – yet they terminate that employee for the restructuring nightmare that they themselves are clueless on and the consumer has to go through the same conversation over and over again. Now if that is not a headache alone – they are out-sourcing to INDIA! Walgreen's dictates who you can even go out to lunch with - this is with fellow workers - PEOPLE THEY HIRE and won't let you even have lunch with and you share the same lunch hour. The corporate communication is equal to getting a RX filled - a nightmare! They allow fellow employees to defame co-workers and treat In Walgreen's clearly AMERICA does not exist -- there is only WALGREENS WORLD consisting of defamation, poor employee relations – terminating able people in America to outsource outside the United States. Plus I am sure we have all had the FINE experience of the pharmacy. All I can say is “There is Away” what a slogan – ONLY Walgreen’s way in every meaning. What a crock of we all know what! Think before you engage you life medically or professionally with Walgreens!
I hate WALGREENS...and so do most people I know. I don't know if it's EVERYWHERE, but I know the customer service (I'm speaking specifically of the PHARMACY/"lead" PHARMACIST) who was there when I quit using them a couple of years ago was abominable...if ever a woman deserved the title usually reserved for some men, SHE is it...a JERK! And they wonder why business is bad and did you say "restructuring"? If higher-ups would JUST listen to the customer, they wouldn't have to spend their nights with a "duuhhhh", wondering what went wrong! They NEED to restructure alright, but if they don't restructure their ATTITUDES, a financial restructure is like trying to bail out the TITANIC with a paper cup! just postponing the inevitable!
hours
I went on vacation recently for 3 weeks, i had asked my store manager if i could have his approval to use the rest of my vacations days and the rest have unscheduled, than return to my previous post.
When i returned, the schedule posted for the following week did not have me on schedule, when i asked my store manager he feigned surprise and thought i was not returning, and that he would fix the schedule soon as possible.
After several days of him playing the 'oh i will fix it' he finally says he is at his maximum hours for the store since district cut his allowed hours. But then i find out a week later he has hired someone new, without anyone quitting or being fired. I was not called at all during this time though he promised he would as soon as he knew. I am quite pissed off, and feel like i have been lied to straight to my face. Any walgreens employees know what i can do in a situation like this? I am about to go to the district manager or corporate, i am fuming.
Actually I will be honest with you. I was fired and they replaced me. I was hoping he would give me my job back. I was fired because I swore at him when he did not give me four weeks vacation. I wanted to later apologize and ask for my job back. He said he would give me a second chance. I was rehired in January and I would like to retract my post.
The clerk does not overcharge you, its in the system. The clerks have no control over whats in the system, its managements job to catch the errors and correct them and they are so busy sitting in their office to do much of anything. Of course you customers think that the clerks know everything and its their fault things don't ring up right. By the way don't like the prices, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE and stop complaining.
high generic prices
On 4-16-10 I dropped an RX off at the Walgreen in Independence Twp on Dixie Hwy.
I accidently gave them my 2009 insurance card. I asked them to call Blue Care Advantage. All they kept telling me that the RX for Vicodin 5.5 (8 pills) was $14.00. I said forget it and give me my RX back. I went to my usual pharmacy, Kmart in White Lake.
No wonder we need health care reform to protect the consumer from price gouging companies like Walgreens
The Kmartpharmacy gave me their generic price of $2.52 which is even less than my copay. I will never go to Walgreens
again. It just was convenient since it is across the street from the urgent care I was at.
Walgreens in West Caldwell, NJ charged my friend, who is blind, on social security disabilty without prescription coverage, and a regular long-tern cutomer of Walgreens, $160 for generic Singulair. Other pharmacies have it listed for $25. This is obscene and should be illegal. To make matters worse, he was only able to use two pills because he had an adverse reaction.
I work for walgreens and yes our prices our sometimes higher for instance on a lot of medications the cheapest cost is the same whether you buy one or ten tablets with no insurance we have no control over this. If you ask they might have a discount card you can use that might help I know we have some we give to customers with no insurance. Please stop the threatning to report us or call corporate, there are walgreens everywhere and it's cheaper than going somewhere else with gas prices. Your paying for that convience you don't like I then go somewhere else if you can get it cheaper I would.
overcharge
I had been getting my wife's prescription from an independent pharmacy but they are closed at 2 on Saturday. I had forgot to pick it up and since I had a new prescription I took it to Walgreen's. My usual charge for a generic clonazepam is $12 since medicare doesn't cover the drug. Walgreen's charged $53.99 for the exact same prescription.
Their reply, "we don't meet other pharmacies prices".
Moral of the story check with the independents and go out of your way to avoid Walgreen's, they will overcharge.
I purchased Pravastatin 40MG tablets #[protected] at Walgreens on 09/16/10 (one month) and was charged $49.99, when I sent my prescription to my mail order (Prescription Solutions) company #[protected] 12/21/10 (3 month supply) I was charged $4.00, something is wrong with this. I believe I was charged too much. Thank you for an answer. Ellen Whitener McGuire

survey site
Walgreens... What is up with the survey website? I made a purchase on july 4th, 2011 at my local baltimore, md walgreens. It tells me on the receipt that I can enter their $3000 monthly sweepstakes however upon trying to visit the website listed on my receipt "tellwag.com"... To my suprise there is no such website! If walgreens is no longer offering this sweepstakes then it should remove the info from the receipts or this is false advertising!

pharmacist
My husband was taking twice daily blood thinner injections. He was having trouble sleeping at night so I thought maybe melatonin tablets might help. I went to the pharmacist window to ask if it was safe for my husband to take melatonin while on the blood thinner. Pharmacist said yes, it was safe. Not feeling quite right about this answer I went to the internet to check. Quickly found out melatonin is NOT to be taken while on blood thinners! Dangerous people behind the pharmacy counter. Customers beware!

Just a note to all the couponers/complainers about Walgreens. Put yourself in the position of the retailer. No store has an unlimited supply of stock, it's impossible. Limits have to be enforced on all items so that every customer has a chance to take advantage of ad/reward and all other items on sale. It is your responsibility as a consumer to be fair and realize most of it is out of our control. As far as ad items not scanning at the correct price, it is your responsibility to make sure you give the coupons to the cashier so the ad price can be correct. As far as items not scanning at the correct price, nothing is perfect. These prices are loaded into the POS by corporate and if it is not correct on that end, we don't know until it happens at checkout and I can attest that I try to fix every issue that arises as soon as I can. No one and nothing is perfect and you can't expect it to be. We all do the best we can! I completely understand everyone trying to get a great deal but when you come in and try to clean everything off the shelf and we are left with nothing else for the rest of the week it makes it very difficult to please everyone. The store I work in has a wonderful, friendly and attentive staff including employees and management and we do everything possible to make our customers happy because we realize without you we would not be open. These trying economic times have been very stressful on everyone. Realize that rules/regulations/policies are put in to place to be followed and we really have very limited room for going against them. Customer service doesn't mean giving you what you want when you want it, it means listening to what you are saying, realizing how frustrating it is for you and offering the best solution we can in a genuine and kind manner and I can say I do that and my employees and other members of management do that also. The complaining about things we cannot control is ridiculous and the tirades online about certain things is just childish.

Lost prescription
I turned in a prescription and the lady at the drive through said that it would be ready in about an hour so I go back to pick it up and she said that they couldn't fill it until the 9th of June. I told her that I would come back then. I have since called to check on it and they said they couldn't find my prescription and it was lost. My Dr. will not write...

Today, I was taking my antibiotic and noticed that that one tablet was smaller than the other in my prescription bottle. The clerk took the tablet in the plastic bag back to someone -...

I have encounter this problem several times over the last couple of years. First starting with the old Fox Drugs (currently CVS Pharmacies) I have been on heavy duty pain meds due to bad knees. Fox drugs shorted me 60 pills of oxycontin. When I called to report I was short. I was told there was nothing they could do since I already had left the store with my meds. I put up a fight because I knew I was right. They eventually gave me the rest of my meds.
Same problem at Walgreens. I was charged 14.98 for a perscription I should have only paid 1.00 dollar. My son caught the mistake on my meds. I should have gotten 90 pilss of oxycodone. I only recieved 40. When I called to complain I was told there couldn't of been a mistake because the pharmacists count the pills twice before they leave the store. I recieved a call about an hour later telling me to come and get the rest of my medication.
Its is not always the consumers who have drug problems.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You have the right to have the pharmacist count the medication out in front of you before signing for and receiving your medication. Most will balk at this because it takes up their time but it is still your right to request that they do so.
Sorry wrong post.
Sorry complaintsboard malfunction wrong post!
Wow not even two months and you already screwed up, it's not that hard to keep track of your spending. If you don't want to keep a ledger hold onto all of your receipts at least.

I filled a prescription for 20 tablets of hydrocodone in preparation for surgery on the 30th. As I did not need the meds right away I put the package up.
I took 2 tablets on the 30th after my surgery. I then took 2 tablets during the day of the 31st and that is when I noticed that there were only 6 tablets
left. 6+4=10. My concern is that of insurance fraud and or the potential illegal selling or use of the other 10 tablets by the pharmacy staff. Please investigate.
Thank you
Every time i pick my meds up i always have a promblem, they mess up my meds.Cant someone help, if not i am just going to go to cvs pharmacy.Wallgreens is soooooooooooooooooo BAD ! there pharmacy dont know what there doing.
I am inundated with emails all day every day from Wallgreens.com . Most go to spam but the overflow to my inbox is unbelievable. I have unsubscribed numerous times at least (30) -Next stop federal website.
"" I WILL NOT SHOP AT WALLGREENS ""
Well that's a start.
Can you elaborate just a bit more on that comment Brenda.
This is getting really interesting.
If you are talking to me SlimJim, I just used common sense (not so common, I know). I've run into the issue myself with medications before and always have the Dr specify if he doesn't want generics given. :)
Does the Dr. specify on the prescription "brand name only"? If not, then they will fill with generic when possible. They don't do it to piss you off, the insurance companies don't like to pay for name brand unless the Dr. specifically orders it.
And before you ask, no, I do not work at Walgreens.
OH learn how to spell.
