accused by greeter/I threatened police report for defamation purposes
As I was leaving the store, the bell went off. This particular male greeter never acknowledged me before, always giving me cursory looks.I am around 50, and a retired tattoo/piercing shop owner. Thus, I am an alternative and I could see the glee in his eyes as the bell rang on me. I gave him my bags, including an electronic dept. one. He looked in all, and remarked that there wasn't a receipt for the electronic purchase. I opened my purse and wallet, having nothing to hide, dumped any and all receipts I had into a shopping cart. At this point, as customers were exiting, he was deliberately telling them to "move on", telling me to "stand back", and causing a scene himself. I am well-respected, well-educated and waited to zing my lawful rights on him. He still claimed he couldn't find the receipt after over an hour, as other customers are assuming I am a shop-lifter. He then called Electronics, asked if I bought this item, described me, (lady w/tatoos).Electronics came up front, grabbed the bag from the greeter, looked inside, and pulled out the receipt! He couldn't apologize enough.I requested the floor manager, ten minutes later a section manager appeared.I refused to speak with her. Finally, the store manager did arrive.I told her it was within my right to have her call the police and make an incident report. She agreed.I made a deal with her that if he had more sensitivity training and this type of problem was addressed at this location, I would not call the police. She still gave me the usual WM gift card anyway.Since then, workers at that store have been more courteous to me, and he eventually quit or was fired.
Thank you Brenda for your comment in response UsuallyDon'tCareToComment. Guess you understood my story...lol...as almost everyone else has in this particular forum. Some may agree. Some may disagree. That's their prerogative. I certainly didn't go in and out of this "particular Walmart" often on the chance that I could "make a stink and ZING them/him/Frank/management". I do have better things to do in my life. Just scroll through the posts UDCTC to understand my motives for my behavior.
Re: foxfyre: I understand. Thank you for your explanation.
foxfyre: If you read my original story, that's what I did. It was he, the greeter Frank, that had the attitude. I stopped. I showed him my receipts. I actually gave him my bag first. He claimed the receipt wasn't in the bag, which is why I gave him ALL of my receipts and told him to find it then. I knew the receipt was in the store's electronics bag. It was his mistake and he was just "hunting" for someone. He thought he was going to find it in me. Even the Electronics Department was angry enough when they were called out of their department to come and check the merchandise because they knew me for buying enough merchandise/asking questions etc. They found the receipt in under 30 seconds. Apparently he wasn't well-liked in that store and shouldn't have been in that position. I gave the man a chance to do his job properly without an attitude at the start. I threatened to file a police report after the fact.
Telling him to [censor] off would have been too easy. It was so obvious he was itching to "catch" someone in his greeting job should the bell go off. And who better for him to accuse than a stereo-type? Guess it was pay-back time in Karma dollars.
the squeaky wheel should, but chooses wisely.
Ok, what's shaking with you guys? And yea, I have ink and one piercing.
That should have absolutely nothing to do with my being stopped.
Norman and Brenda---get in on behind that shower curtain already!
Thanks SPH.
Absolutely Healthy Distrust, one doesn't need to stop. I knew I had done nothing wrong, and from his past negativity towards me, I also knew he was going to make a huge mistake when he stopped me. I was simply aiding him in putting his foot in his mouth. I saw an opportunity to make an easy point on a Wal-Mart mistake and was going to ride the waves and enjoy it. It was very easy to have the store manager agree to sensitivity training and besides, he did eventually leave the store.
One new rule was imposed on the employees that I was told about a year later on...if you are treated rudely/obnoxiously by a store employee, report them immediately to the store manager while they are on duty so the issue can be dealt with at hand. I'd say that was progress in the way of encouraging their employees to cater more to their customers whether they want to or not. And yes, the customers must stand up for themselves for this rule to work productively, also.
piece of crap!
This card is the biggest piece of crap I have ever had to deal with! I got my card stolen from a clrk at a gas station in santa ana and so I called the station to get my money back because this jerk off had the nerve to use MY CARD at the same gas station where I last used it where He worked! (I know it had to be him because he handed my i.d back and not my card which I later realized) Well that was the info according to the automated system for the walmart card had given me. So I cancelled my card and called the gas station and they said they had no record of those transactions and that they needed exact times. So I call the walmart supposedly customer care number and this crappy ### auotomated system sends me from one number to another! 4 total and each one sends me to the next one that at the end of the cycle ends up with the first number I began with! According to one number it says "for this account you will need to call a different number, here it is"... etc. Then I call that number and basically the same thing is said and so on and so forth! So I cant get in, I cant talk to anyone, therefore I cant get my damn transctions or times to get this problem fixed asap and get this aHole fired so he doesnt do this again! It is just time wasted and the walmart corp is responsible for it! Just for future reference, if your in the santa ana area and happen to use the chevron off mcfadden and village dr off the 55 that is owned by Cynthia Demoslai enterprise watch out for that F*(# Head and/or keep close attention when using any kind of card there! And I do not recommend the walmart paycard to anyone. That is just one thing I had to deal with since I first got it! I am currently searching for other card options since I had a lil fall out with a couple banks a few years back. So remember if you do happen to get this card, DO NOT rely on thir "Customer support" for [censored]! I hope someone from walmart or the BBB reads all these complaints from so many loyal walmart customers and does omething about it! Because they had to go in to a wal mart for some reason to notice they had a paycard so surely they must be customers! And for this to happen to so many and get no where is just plain Ridiculous!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
It's not a friendly card whatsoever... However, in this case, I would approach the owner of the gas station first. Tell them what happened and get a printout of your transactions from online if possible. Take this to the owner and have them review their video surveillance. If need be, I would tell them you will take the matter to the police. My friend had a similar problem in the gas station he owns and he did reviewed the video with the customer, called the clerk into the office and had him explain. No explanation..just fired and my friend gave the customer back his money with an apology.
Although I do agree that the Walmart card is not a friendly card, I think you can handle this without involving their "customer service" folks.
Having said that, here’s my take on Prepaid Debit Cards (payroll cards) based on my own experience:
The card you have is typical because most cards either have a monthly fee or pretty limited as to the free items.
I have worked at Starbucks for about 7 months now and they allow us to have a card called the Money Manager Card. The choice was pretty simple because there are no monthly fees, I can use it on their network (allpoint atms) free at all times, never any fees to buy things (signing or using my PIN and getting cash back if I want…all without a fee or surcharge), no overdraft. Let’s just say I haven’t paid a fee in the entire time I’ve had the card. It’s pretty simple to use it at no charge and I really don’t have to tip-toe around any limited free items like most other cards I have seen have.
Oh, and don’t lose most payroll cards! If you do, it’ll cost you $$ even to get the replacement sent by the post office. My new card give free replacements when delivered by the post office all of the time. Or, if I want, I can get it delivered by Fedex for $10. Pretty reasonable as I sent something by Fedex a month ago and paid $14!
I should state that Walmart has something that is similar sounding to Money Manager Card. I think it is the Money Card or something like that. That card is definitely not the same.
I did a quick Google search on Money Card when investigating the Starbucks offering and mistakenly clicked on a link to a Money Card “problem” page (something like this site) where people complained about it. Then, I realized that “Money Card” is not “Money Manager Card”.
Its Walmart's fault you can't keep track of your own damn card?
But before I rage on you too hard for being a [censored] I have to ask:
Do you mean a Walmart Paycard for employees, which is how they now get paychecks.
Its basically a debit card that Walmart directly deposits the money onto.
Or do you mean a Walmart prepaid visa debit card?
In which case calling Walmart would be a stupid thing to do.
Walmart issues those cards, but its Green Dot that takes care of it.
I hope you mean the former. Getting the run-around on your employee paycard would piss me off too.
But since you referred to yourself as a "loyal customer" I'm assuming that the latter is the case (not an employee), in which you are a [censored].
Again, Walmart doesn't take care of customer service for Green Dot cards.
Next time read the fine print on the cards packaging.
For the record, I work at the MoneyCenter at one of the Walmarts in my city.
Do you have any idea how many idiots come up wanting to buy one of those prepaid debit cards without so much as even glancing at the back?
They have fees. They have limits. They have their own customer service. They are a long term card, not just for a single online purchase.
falsely accused of stealing
On March 28, 2009 while shopping at the local wal-mart with my sister and three children my son was approached and asked to show an unidentified employee what he had in his pockets. He was approached in a aggressive way. My son is 11 years old and now is afraid to come with me into the walmart. My son had taken some free pamphlets that said 'Take One' on...

so just an average payday, me and my 2 year old son went to wal-mart to do our shopping, we finished, we went to mcdonalds and had a bite to eat then befor leaving i went into the bathroom, changed my sons diaper and then i had to go... i went into the only stall that me, my stroller and child could fit into and there was blood everywhere... i guess a woman was having a rough time and i understand but i really had to go... to i went to the customer service desk and asked them if they could get someone to come and clean it up. so they got me to wait and wait, i asked them if anyone was comming after 15 mins of waiting and then they told me that there was no maintenance staff working... so i asked if i could talk to thier supervisor, he came out and asked me what the problem was so i told him about the blood in the only big stall in the store. and he said "ohh wow is that still there."
really? still? they should have gotten that cleaned up! so i asked him if there was anyone else who could do it (and by the way there were a bunch of female staff standing around doing nothing for they money they make) so he told me that there is no one here that wants to do that... and told me to walk over to the mall (another 10 min walk) so i'd like to say thanks wal-mart you guys truly suck...
what the ### does you running your mouth have anything to do with what i typed? first off i did not drop out of school but thanks... and i had my son after i turned 18 so you can go ### yourself... if you dont like what i typed then dont leave these childish comments on here..

Money paid, , were they not paid same scale as clean up staff, my my my The manager gets the most he should have got the mop and pail.. Yes a call to health department and washroom should have been closed to public till it was cleaned and WallyWorld should be written up in violation.
I forgot to mention one issue I had with what you posted..."for the money they make"...how much do you think Walmart employees are paid? Believe me, I worked there, it's not much.
That is a health and safety issue. Bodily fluids have to be cleaned up immediately. You should have called the health department, especially after he said, "is that still there"...that is completely unacceptable. It's bad enough when the bathrooms are just plain dirty...human blood or body fluids is a public health risk issue. I would have taken a picture and immediately called the health department.
in all walmarts in winnipeg . there are two washrooms for each sex. if one is dirty use the other one. its common sense.
cigarette isle
I used to buy my cigarettes at Wal-Mart until they switched to only selling in one isle. If I want to buy a pack of cigs then I have to wait behind people with full carts. My complaint is why does'nt Wal-Mart make the cigarette isle 20 items or less? Wal-Mart must be losing money on sales since they started doing this and we all know its all about the money when it comes to Wal-Mart.

As i was watching an advertisement on the local television channel, I thought it would be a good idea to purchase a GE money bank card. No overdraft fees, what could be better? Please friends, let me explain to you the havoc that I have had with Ge bank. When I first purchased the card I made a 15.00 gas purchase. When I checked my balance a few days later, I was informed that the retailer automatically charges 15.00 for any debit tranaction and it would be refunded within 4 days. This was not a problem, however I would have had liked this information to be clarified in the contract or some type of document. I then beagn to think about the struggling economy and the single moms who would have needed that 15.00 to purchase food or milk for their babies.
I was informed there was no way this money could be refunded, I was told that once my personalized card was recieved, i would no longer have a problem. When I recieved the personalized card, I decided to deposit my payroll check onto the Ge money bank card. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE ! After noticing my balance was negative, I called the customer support center. The center's calls are handled out of India, so it is very difficult to understand the representatives. I was informed that a representative inadvertently spelled my last name incorrectly and due to this errror, my card was blocked, I must fax documents with a copy of my driver's license and SS#. I did this three times only to be told they did not recieve it. After the fourth time, it was confirmed that the fax machine was in need of repair. At this point I had been on the phone for 3 hours. I asked if everything was ok, and was assured the funds would be on my account in the following morning. I checked my balance the following morning but was informed that the block was still on the account. I requested a supervisor who informed me once the block was lifted, I would have to activate the card and the funds would be placed on the account. However, she would disable the card once the funds were removed. After activating my cards, my balance still indicated a negative balance. When asked to speak to a supervisor I was transferred to Customer Support to Lost Management 6 times for an average of 2 hours on the phone. I Began to think someone was playing a cruel joke. I had three supervisors place me on hold, then simply hang up after waiting 20 minutes for each one. Each time I was told I was in the incorrect department and assured that the supervisor would hear my concern without disconnecting the line. After the 8th hour a supervisor informed me that although the block was lifted, when the deposit was madethe block was on the account, therefore the funds were rejected and would not be returned to the payor until 2 business days. I then called my payroll center who advised me that it will be a 50.00 fee for a reprinted payroll document in the form of a check. I was devastated. I was then charged a 3.00 fee for a card that was disabled.

OMG; the same thing similar happened to a friend of mine. She received a 50.00 card from a co-work for food b/c she was having hard times. When she went to the store to purchase the food using the card was blocked. She called the number they told her she had to wait a 24hr period before using the card. The cashier had to cancel the translation and she went home w/o. She tried to call the number on the back but the center's calls are handled out of India, so it was very difficult to understand the representatives. She came to me for help, I called the [protected] # and I couldn't understand a word she was saying, we were going in a circle for 1hr. At that time the Lord spoke to me and I gave her the 50.00 to buy food and didn't think of the tires I need for my car. That's why I don't deal with walmart b/c I could not believe it. Walmart rip her out of 50.00 b/c the money never came on the card.
And to think, all this could have been avoided had you just paid your old bank the money you owed them for your bounced checks/overdraft fees. Then you could have continued to use a real bank.
COuldn't have happened to a nicer person

I bought a chainsaw that did not work called store and was told to bring it back. Was told they could look it up on my credit card to get a refund. I only have 4 cards and they could not find it on their system. This was only a week after I made the purchase.
They said they could find no record but offered a gift card for the amount of chainsaw.
If they showed no record of purchase, then why did they give me a gift card?
Rip off to get more money.
For those needing a quality prepaid RELOADABLE VISA, I can recommend finding your local Check Into Cash and purchasing theirs. It is only $5.95 for the card and $1.00 to reload. You can use it anywhere Visa is accepted and by running it as a Visa, it is free. If you use it as a debit card, cost .50cents. They only charge a monthly maintenance fee of $2.00 per month. There is no hidden per use fee, or minimum balance, etc. The local Walmart customer service desk themselves told me, "Honey, you don't want one of these, there is a lot of hidden charges!" Then sent me to Check into Cash! Have had my Check into Cash Reloadable for 6 months and have had no problems! Can be loaded at any Check into Cash and you can even have two so that you can transfer funds between the cards FOR FREE via their website. Check it out! It's not often that someone can beat Walmart, but this card does.
lower my credit line
I see that I am not the only one that you have done down right dirty. I had a wal-mart credit card withb only $300 credit but it was set to a 100.00 dollars limit after we paid the card down. I have never been late have always paid more than my payment. Because you scaned my credit report. That ism not right! Not rightn at all!
I agree my limit to was only $300 and Iv'e paid it off twice and paid more then the monthly payment they ran my credit report then sent me a letter in the mail saying do to your credit report we are allowing you to spend only $100.00 I was pissed had the card for 1yr before they did that. It's just not right at all
defective products
I purchased 2 phone batterys from Walmart and they were defective. I went to return them in the time allowed and Walmart would not take them back. Their reason was that they don't refund or exchange defective batteries. Walmart has a sign that states everything that you can return and the amount of time you have, batteries are not listed as one of the products you can not return but they won't accept them as returns anyway. Each battery is 14.99 I'm out of $32.38 for the both. When I spoke to the floor manager she told me that I had to contact the company that distributes the battery but when I call I get a message that say this company does not accept calls from your calling area. All I want is my money back can you help?

health insurance
Walmart is making me pay $1000 before they will cover me on their health insurance plan. They are taking money out of my check every week, but I have to pay the $1000 deductible before they will cover anything. I make $9/hr working for them...I can't afford $1000!
I keep trying to go to the doctor, but the appointments are costing me $100, $250 etc.
How can they call this health insurance?
They also refused to cover my partner because they stated that same-sex health coverage is illegal in the state of Rhode Island (where we live)...it is not illegal. THEN they took money from my check for the amount it would cost to cover her..but without actually covering her! I ended up paying for the health coverage they refused her!

I hear ya. I just became eligible for my employer offered (Walmart) health insurance. And I was looking at the coverages. I see the only copay is on preventive services, prescriptions and my vision plan. From what I am seeing I have to pay 100% till I meet the deductible ($2500) for all other services, once I meet the deductible then they will pay 75% till I meet the out of pocket maximum, when they will finally pay 100 percent.
I had Affordable Care Act insurance till this month, I am no longer eligible for the subsidies because Walmart offered me insurance. But the ACA insurance was a better deal with the subsidies than the Walmart insurance without. I had copays for all my medical visits, PCP, Specialist, etc. But under Walmart's insurance only the PCP has a copay and again for only preventive services.
I can't afford to pay a $2500 deductible, especially when I am due to see a specialist in a week. A specialist is not preventive services so I will have to pay out of pocket for the visit, a service I really can't afford without a copay.
Walmart will be sorry when Obama Care takes over... they are horrible to work for, my mom worked there for 16 years and they took her position away.. they expect someone who wont even make 1000.00 a month pay for that ### insurance? I am sorry.. you deserve better!
stock
I went to Wal Mart in Cullman, AL today and was thoroughly disgusted first off between last Saturday and today they have quit stocking the treats I buy for my dogs, they quit stocking the bottled Pepsi's, and they also quit stocking Tetley tea. If that was not enough the cashier was rude to top it all off.
Wal Mart thinks they own Cullman, lets show them. If you live in Cullman lets boycott Wal Mart!
In my opinion, the Cullman Wal-Marts biggest issue is stock. I understand that in this area, Wal-Mart is the main shopping source but I think management should exercise a little better planning to accomadate the increased consumer need. I have been to this store many times and can't find my size jeans, video games for ps3 & wii (months after Christmas), shoes in mine & my daughters size etc. This is very frustrating when the next closest store is 45+ minutes away. I wish they would improve their planning. It's very frustrating to go there repeatedly and not find what I'm looking for. I keep going back, however, because I have to maintain my budget and I'd rather go there in hope of finding $20 jeans in my size than go to Belk and find them easily but pay $40.
We have a walmart store in our town of Henryetta Okla and asuperstore in Okmulgee Okla but can never seem to find alot of things they used stock that we use everyday and prices seems to get more rediculous everyday on all the things we use most often and are made cheaper to boot for instance i bought a can opener and my wife bought one too a total of twenty-five dollars plus tax just thrown away as if we had it to throw away to begin with. we don't have to have walmart especially if we can't get the things we need at a reasonable price with availability. It.s pretty bad when homeland can beat walmart prices on the average groceries.We need the quality and prices that Sam Walton biuldt this company on the end;
LET'S BOYCOT ALL WALMARTS!
I haven't shopped at a WalMart in years. Never really understood the appeal and that was back in the days where it was semi-decent. I stopped going when I started to hear more Spanish spoken in the stores than English.
fraudulent company
I called today to have my husbands prescription filled that was faxed to that pharmacy a while a go and I was quite rudely informed that they would not allow us to pick up any prescriptions for anyone in my family because I supposedly owe them $16. In January of '09 I had a RX filled that the Dr. wrote for 3 a day. I have had this for over 2 years and Target, Albertsons have never had a problem with my insurance so suddenly Walmart has this big problem filling the 3 a day that was written and only filled for 2 a day and told me I had to wait 20 days to get the other 10 day supply, which I did and moved on. Then the next month I went to Target to fill the same prescription. When I picked it up, they said Walmart had messed it up and the insurance wouldn't cover it for another 20 days so I explained the situation from last month and the pharmacist from Target had to call Walmart and sit on hold for 45 min. then she walked them through how to fix it and the insurance covered it with no problem for the full month. Now, in March, I called to have my husbands prescription filled because his Dr.'s office called it into Walmart. I was told that they would not fill any prescriptions for anyone in my family because I owed them some sort of $16 rebill and when I asked her to explain what that was about, she just talked in circles and blew me off. In the meantime I have to wait for my Dr or insurance to fix this due to financial difficulties at this time in our lives. Is thia even legal?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Phone 1-800-WALMART. They will investigate your complaint. Something does not sound right about the situation, especially the $16 due to somekind of reversal. Not allowing you to pick up rx's seems because you owe(may owe) some money is not proper Wal-Mart procedure. Again, phone 1-800- WALMART. This sounds like a problem with the pharmacy manager. Your complaint will be investigated and the district manager will get to the bottom of it. He will get the mess straight and someone will call you back. It is not a matter of Wal-Mart being a fraudulent company. It is a matter of someone not operating the pharmacy properly. Wal-Mart has policies and procedures for most everything. And, I can assure you, they have no policy to prevent you from picking up meds because of a supposedly owing some money.
visa debit gift card
I am a teacher. My class gave me a WalMart Visa debit card for Christmas 2008 for $100.00. I used $21.98 for books for my classroom. I tried to use it again. WalMart could not get it to work. I checked on my balance. It said $50.68 on April 19, 2009. When I had used it in January, it said I had a balance of $78.02. I tried customer service to no avail. I...

I had my hair cut and it was ok. I've had better but ok. The sign clearly states the price for adult hair cut was $14.95 including shampoo. I was not asked if I wanted a shampoo or not. She just asked me to sit down and asked what I was needing. She cut my hair. That was all. And I was charged $14.95. If you advertise a price including something, a customer should not have to say anything about it. If a customer did not want then that is there choice to let the employee know that. We should not have to ask for something that is advertised. I will now go to someone else in the future.

I get my hair done at SmartStyle and I've always been treated well, and never one complaint about the job that's done. I go when I know a certain stylist is working 'cause she's friendly and doesn't rush through doing my hair. She actually worked from 9a.m.-12p.m. doing a double color, shampoo, cut and style for me.
YOU got your hair cut and washed for $14.95 and are complaining? Are you insane or really that cheap?
big deal you got your HAIR WASHED and cut for 14.95. You can't buy or get anything for 14.95. You must be the CHEAPEST person in AMERICA!
I agreed with with the comment posted by someone from Texas. I was charged $15.50 without getting a shampoo. I like my haircut but I felt like they are not honest to their customers. That makes me upset a little bit. I will give them another chance.
I REALLY like the Smart Cuts salon because it really truly has some good stylists for a cheaper budget. It you go to a high end salon as stylist said then it would cost about $20 dollars, for a adult, and sometimes kid. At least in MY area that is..
The thing about these chains they cant keep good stylisted working in them because as soon as salon gets busy they over hire and an experinced staylist wont take getting paid min wage... So your left with stylist just out of school and trying there darnest to earn comission by getting you out of that chair asd fast as they can... how would you like to go to school for almost 2 years and get paid almost nothing a little over min... i know because i have worked for them in the past they make it impossible for us to make any money ... they dont want to pay more than min... sorry but stop paying 14.95 for a haircut and you might get pampered if you go to a high end salon... It is a branch off the big tree
store in scurry does not sell quidditch supplies.
I am the headmaster of a school which I shall not name for security reasons. I went to your store located in Scurry. I went to the sports department and asked the muggle working there for quaffles, a golden snitch bulgers and a firebolt. The muggle there had no idea what I was talking about. So I asked to speak to the manager and he had no clue. He said he never carried or even heard of those things. I know that they are all muggles, but come on even muggles must have heard of quidditch.

P.S. also your stationary department does not carry anticheating quills.

You just named the school later in your letter.

My wife and I believe that our rights are being violated when after paying for your items at Walmart you are stopped at the door and asked to prove that you payed for them. I do believe that after the transaction of paying those items are yours and you should not have to prove anything. If they believe you stole something you need to call the cops. The burden of proof is on them. I am shopping with them in good faith and I do not like to be accused. My wife and I are middle aged and handicapped. If they falsely call the police do I have a reason to sue. I also would like to know our rights here as customers because this is indignifying to both of us.

I purchased a beautiful comforter set from Wal-Mart. It had large patched squares on the pillow shams and comforter which were made of jewel toned thick silken fabric, and some velvet, which all looked well made and durable. The fabric care tag recommended Dry Clean Only. I put the set on the day bed of my spare bedroom/office. I'd never washed the comforter, and had not had to have it cleaned yet.
Sometimes I would lay on the day bed where I would doing my bible study or read other books. Though in no way was the comforter roughed up, many of the patches on the comforter and pillow shams came apart at the seams, and I am a petite woman (no pun intended to anyone about weight).
A new comforter should not come apart at the seams, especially from simply lying on it by a small woman who weighs just over 100 pounds. The reason for this is that there certain patches were made of many threads of satin type threading. I think because when the squares of the fabrics were cut they were not surged to prevent raveling; so the seams gave way at the slightest tension. It was over the 30 days return period since I'd bought the comforter.
I'd not immediately put the comforter on the bed as it had remained in the zipper plastic comforter bag for a time. I put the set into the bag, which was just like I purchased it. I usually keep receipts; but had lost this one in the process of moving; so I didn't have a receipt. Wal-mart refused to give me a refund or an exchange. They have some policy that you can't have but so many returns without a receipt within a certain period.
That was not the problem in my case; as I'd not returned anything there in a very long time, maybe 1-2 years. They'd always had a policy of making an even exchange without a receipt. The bar code was in the system and the price was just what was on the bar code on the comforter's plaster container. It was obvious that the comforter had not been abused as it was not even dirty or signs of wear or abuse or such.
I was stuck with a barely used piece of junk which i'd paid over $60 for. I may as well have taken $60 and flushed it down the toilet. I asked to speak to a manager. A manager came and acted as though he could not have given a rat's tail about whether any customer was satisfied with Wal-Mart. His attitude was like 'whoopy dooo, I don't care.'
When Wal-Mart made their big devut here in America, their attitude was like 'Yes sir, Yes Man, We will do any and everything to ensure customer satisfaction.' Once they got the Supercenters set up, the entire concept of customer orientation went out the window. There are many people who will not even shop at Wal-Mart. I think Wal-Mart is one of the worst things to have ever came to being in America.
Wal-Mart put many smaller retailers and grocers out of business by their big come on of customer orientation. Then once they got the general population 'reeled in', they stopped discontinued customers orientation completely. I think if many people stopped shopping there and acted like they don't care about Wal-Mart, they might bring it back on and act like a company that gives a care.
Costco and Sam' Club (a company owned and operated by Walmart) check your receipts and no one complains. Why do people feel so indignant and personnally attacked. Theft is getting out of hand and this is a VERY small way to try to deter it. It is just another sign of the future, like having to wear a seatbelt, putting your kids in carseats, mandatory vehicle insurance. Now these things are "normal". Get used to it or stay home!
Wait. You're mad cause...the door greeters ask to see your receipt? What the hell is wrong with you? It takes like...2 seconds. They're just trying to cover their butts, and scare off potential shoplifters. By checking your receipt, their enabling their stores to continue providing those low prices that you love. It's not like their asking you to step to the side and pull down your pants for them to perform a cavity search before you leave the store.
Get over yourself, and move into the real world. With today's society, showing your receipt will soon be a standard at every store you shop at. Maybe you should look into shopping online, if you don't like that?
I totally agree with P. Engle. How odd it is that that "policy" depends on what part of town you live in. Techincally, by law they have no reason to search you. That would be unlawful. I imagine you can just walk on by, what are they going to do, call the cops? For what? You didn't steal anything.
Secondly, I do not shop at Wal-mart if I can avoid it. That place is like a zoo. Not to mention their stance on Unions.
quit complaining, if you had something to hide you would complain, and yes those items are yours but what about the depends diapers you "forgot" about in the bottom of your cart?
Contrary to popular belief, that policy is not in place to inconvience you - it's to protect Walmart. They don't know if you've done something to the comforter - whether you read the bible or not. Do you know how many people would be trying to scam Walmart if they did away with the reciept policy? They don't know you - what makes you so special that they should disregard their policies? Bend the rules for one & they'd have to bend the rules for the rest. You want to get mad at something, get mad at the hordes of scammers that try to rip places like Walmart off, the REASON they have those policies in the first place.
petite bottom...ftw
freak...is this your petite bottom?
Personally, I agree this is a demeaning policy. However, I disagree that it is 'policy'. The Wal-Mart located in the 'bad part of town' checks receipts...the Wal-Mart in the 'good part of town' does not...ever...even when carrying items not bagged.
"I also would like to know our rights here as customers because this is indignifying to both of us."
You and everybody else.
price gouging
Due to the recent tax increase on tobacco, loose tobacco (Top, Bugler, Drum, etc..) increased by just over $26 per pound. It doesn't take much math to calculate the increase for a 6 ounce can of tobacco. Yet when I went to the nearest WalMart to buy a can of Top tobacco, the price had gone from around $14 to over $36. That's at least a 22 dollar increase. The same is being done in the Brookshire Bros. chain of grocery stores in Texas. They have anticipated an increase in people who are willing to roll their own to save money, so they're raised the prices. I urge others to order from catalogs or order online. The businesses that I mentioned will not be getting my business any longer.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I too went in to get a can of Bugler for my son stationed on Iraq. He had a friend get some from Louisana a month ago and it was only 12.oo + tax. When I asked for the price, the lady scanned it and it came to $39.16 with tax! I almost swore out loud. I asked why it was so high, and the response was, "Well, tobacco prices have gone up three times this year. Plus the new tax." I called my wife because she had spoken to my son, and asked her if he had meant the can or a pouch of it. She said the can. I told her how much it was, because he had ask us to send two cans, and she said to go ahead and get one. My wife talked to him again that night, and when she told him how much it was, he said to forget it, just take it back. So, today I went back to the store with the UNOPENED can, reciept in hand, and after waiting twenty minutes for the "enthustiastic" Wal-Mart employee behind the return counter, was then informed that I could not return it. I asked why and was told that it being a tobacco product, it could not be returned, and that there was a sign in the tobacco shop that stated that. I never saw any sign. I told her that I wanted to see a manager. That took another twenty minutes before the "enthustiastic" manager came strolling slowy to the front. She just looked at me, a glaze in her eyes, and said "Yes sir, what can I do for you." I told her that what I had told the other person, and that I wanted to return it. Well, I just got the same old song and dance, "Texas law says we can't take a tobacco product back once it is purchased and leaves the store." Well, needless to say, Wal-Mart has become even lower in my opinion, if that is possible, and I will not do any further business with them.

fraud and lies
I have had an on going problem with Douglas tires I purchased at WalMart. I read another thread on Douglas tires. My concern is not the same. First, I have a 2001 Century Custom. I drive approximately 10, 000 miles a year--mostly in my neighborhood which is relatively new and the roads are well maintained. I take a few trips out of town each year which average 400 miles round trip on interstate highways. I am not an expert and do not claim to be one. I maintain my car as per manufacturer recommendations. I think I have addressed the major issues which arose in the other thread.
My problem is different. I admittedly purchased the tires because they were inexpensive. Since I do not drive as much as most people I know, I did not see the need for high performance tires. I went to WalMart because I am a single mom on a disability income. That was a mistake which has cost me.
I purchased two tires in 2005. The tread wear was acceptable. In 2006, the tire would not hold pressure and was replaced under the road hazard warranty I purchased for $10. Okay, I thought that I might have hit something and not noticed it. However, a few months later, I noticed a separation on the sidewall--a straight line across the sidewall which ballooned out on both sides of the line. I took the tire back. I was once again told that it was a case of road hazard and that the tires were horrible and caused problems--two different WalMart tire employees told me this. In May of this year, I noticed yet another identical line across the sidewall. I took the tire back and was once again told that I must have hit something and that with this particular Douglas tire, going over a speed bump at 5 mph could do the tire in--I was charged $20 for tread wear (which, mysteriously was not recorded) and $10 for yet another road warranty plus balancing and stem charge. It is now June and I have another line across the tread. I have had the tire for 1 month and 3 days. After inspecting all of my other tires and seeing that I do not have a pattern of uneven wear or abuse, the manager agreed to replace the tire free.
After some discussion, I was not charged for the balance, road hazard warranty and stem (another $18). The new tire was mounted. I drove home a total of 2 miles. You can run your hand around the tire and feel where the belt is joined. There is already a rough spot. I guarantee that within a very short time, there will be a line form across the sidewall and my problem will reappear.
I have driven 20, 000 miles since the first Douglas tires were installed. One tire made it the 20, 000 miles. That tire would not have made it close to the warranty. Since I feared that It would develop the problem and had it replaced with a better tire. Two different WalMart tire employees have told me that the problem is with the low end Douglas tires. I asked if they would apply the proration to a better tire. I was told no. I feel like I have been caught in a trap. Since I replaced the Douglas tire, I theoretically had several thousand miles of warranty Although WalMart employees changed their mind about the initial source of the problem and now say it is a manufacturer problem, I was still required to pay from $18 to $41 each time the sidewall separates. Why, if they believe it to be a defect in the tire, should I be out for a new road hazard warranty and the other charges? If, as my local WalMart employees have said, the tire is problematic, why are they still selling the tire? Between the road warranties, stems, balancing, etc, I have been out $100 over the cosst of the tire itself PLUS tread wear (fortunately, minor). I should have bought high performance tires. Even today, although I have only had the latest tire for 1 month, the tire tech said it was just the tires. I will not purchase more tires at WalMart. I am praying that the latest tire lasts until my income tax return in Jan. so that I can replace it with a much better tire.
This is a problem with how the tires are manufactured--the fact that the tire put on today is already suspect should be proof enough that it is not my vehicle or my driving. I will never purchase Douglas tires. WalMart has pocketed $40 for road hazard warranties when no road hazard was involved. They should not sell tires their employees say are defective.

Douglas is the Cheapest Tire because it is a Crap tire. It's the last resort if you plan on getting rid of the car and have to buy tires then great. Get the Douglas but make sure you sell it right away. Ever here of the saying you get what you pay for. Duh don't keep buying the same tire if it keeps giving you trouble. I think this Complaint could go either way. Yes it's a bad tire but also the Buyer was STUPID in buying a tire they knew was bad over and over again.
You think after having problems with the same brand of tires over and over again that you would stop buying that brand and spend a little more money and get some that are well worth the money. If you think about it, you could've just spent the money and gotten some decent ones versus buying the el cheapo's and ended up spending the same in the end. Think about it.
can't resolve issues
My daughter received a money card from my father for her birthday. When he purchased it, the clerks neglected to tell him that it had to be activated with a special code on the bottom of the receipt. (It does state this information on the back of the envelope that the card comes in, in small print, however.) Never-the-less, my father didn't read it, and wasn't informed of it. I have now spent the last 2 months attempting to convince someone, anyone at Walmart, to help me locate the SPECIAL code! To no avail, I still have no answers! There is apparently no identifying numbers, codes, bar codes, etc. to isolate this purchase. As sophisticated as computers are today, tracking inventory and whatever else needs to be done, they cannot locate a purchase made at a particular store, on a given date, with barcodes and amounts loaded onto the card. How convenient that is for them! I have called the numbers listed on the card, but if you haven't activated it, then the automated system disconnects(it doesn't allow you to speak with a real live person). I have contacted the managers of the stores in my location, who have contacted managers at the purchase location, still no information, except "sorry, it says you have to have the receipt to activate". I have even contacted GE Money, the issuing company, they also refuse to help. Where do I go now? This cannot be this hard! There has to be a way to track and identify these cards.
anyone with any insight, please advise!

I agree, this is a frustrating problem and it took me several weeks to finally resolve it. I eventually contacted Walmart's Corporate Headquarters where I received a much needed helpful email. I have attached it below for all to see. I have no idea why this has to be so difficult, but apparently the information is not widely publicized, even to the managers and customer service associates of Walmart. I actually printed a copy and hand delivered it to my local store where the CS Associates truly tried, without success, to help me.
Hopefully this will get posted where it can be seen! If you stumble upon it, please copy it, save it, or send it on to anyone who may need it! Money is too hard to come by these days to just let it go!
My issue involved the Walmart Money Card and I know it has helped several people who have contacted me from this website . I do not know if it will also work with other issuers but if not, contact the corporate headquarters! Might as well start at the top!
Keep in mind you will be required to give personal info, which is not a problem for most. The retrieval of the money was good enough reason for me, but the principle of the matter was the icing on the cake. The card was a gift to my daughter, and I was certainly going to exhaust all possible solutions. It paid off in the end!

Yes I am with the post above mine, go through the activation proccess. And the quickest way to bypass all the garbage is to enter a date of birth UNDER 18 years of age, You will immediately get a live person. I figured this out after about 6 calls.
I got the cards for my kids, activated them online and never got the personalized cards. I wasnt going to let the kids use them until the personalized cards came, but they never did. (because I put them in the kids names and they are under 18) So I called to speak to someone and it was a joke.
Just use a birthdate that makes you well under 18 and they will get you to an agent to speak to "a parent"
What a nightmare!
That is what happened to me. I purchased 50.00 Walmart Visa gift, (plus 6.00 service charge), moneycards for my neice and nephew. They lost the authorization codes and have not been able to use them. I called the number on the back of the card and there is no live person to talk to. If you reach one there is a charge. I called the Green Dot bank that creates the card and they said to call the number on the back of the card. The Walmart, in Greer, SC tried to retrieve my credit card purchases on the corresponding days but was unable to get the codes.
They had no other suggestions. The contract, which the buyer is suppose to explain to the recipient, is 3 pages of legalese! My neice and nephew are 14 yrs. old! If the card has not been used after 60 days, it is forfeited. I am out 106.00 dollars and Walmart and Green Dot gained. Crdeit card legislation was passed by Congressman Levin but did not address this problem. It is a legal scam! The Walmart and Visa names draw the buyer in, who has no awareness of the problems., Walmart knows that few people will pursue the problems if the process is difficult. Anyone with advice?
rip off
This is the second time I bought a Walmart money card and when I put 250.00 on it and tried to pay my light bill it would not process. So I wondered what was going on because the bill was only 220.00. Then I called them and the man told me that because my first card had my middle and last name and my current card had my first and last name they had to close my account even though I explained everything to him, gave my social and DOB he said because of security reasons. Now I have a return fee of 25.00 added to my light bill because it didn't process even though when I did it online it showed as paid. Anyone with insight on this please respond. This is bulls$#@.

I bought temp cards that I never received the permanent cards for and when I finally did receive a permanent card they tell me that I can not activate the card and that they do not want my business. They do not care that due to their own incompetance I did not get cards in the mail. They told me I can never open an account with them. DO NOT beleive them when they say you can have more than one card. The whole thing is you pay for them monthly so what is the big deal. This company is getting too big for its own good.
I agree with all of what has been said... mama66605 and the rest of you have a right to be pissed. It is some Bulls***! I hope you all can get or got that crap resolved.
But don't let everyday BS keep you down. Take a deep breath and relax... life is too short to be stressed over silly stuff... no matter how small or big. Everything will work itself out in the end.

Same thing happened to me ... 2 cards slight difference in name, suffix missing or something ridiculous. Now my sattelite service has been disconnected and my $100 is floating in the U.S. Postal service somewhere! They cancelled the acct or blocked it or something and I was never notified. They may have the RIGHT to do it but don't they have the RESPONSIBILTY to notify customers of an acct closure? I should have NEVER had been allowed to reload a card that was closed. And why was I still paying a monthly service fee on a card that was unable to provide me a service? So now I'm out the $3 reload fee, $3 monthly service fee, my utility has been disconnected, and I'm waiting for my check. Class action law suit anyone? If we demand retribution maybe the company will stop robbing people. I say file against Walmart money card and all it's affiliates GE Financial and GreenDot!
i am in total agreement with this issue i bought 1card a 12/2007 ago for my daughter as a christmas gift and since she is under age i put it in my name, me and my family wnt on a vacation tried to put money on that card in 12/2008 the card was expiried we had to get a new on and added that one under may name also and used it without a problem well there was a problem the dang 1st card wasnt expried and the 900$ that we put on the 2nd card was held up due to the 1st dang card not being canceled, my question how r we as proud (ha) walmart visa card holders supposed to know all the dang loop holes that walmart uses, i was so disappointed and upset i have not been back to walmart i dont care what they have unless it is GOD him self i will not step foot in a walmart, murphys or anything else that holds that name i am only one but MY MONEY MY RULES...
They said the same to me. I got 2 cards one for me and was giving 1 to my husband but since i have 2 in my name both were cancelled, they got very rude with me over the phone and are refusing to give me my money back. Now what i am to do about paying my cable bill. They told me not their problem, well yes i think it is they r the ones refusing to let me the card i have had for 2 years now suddenly their is a problem and they refuse to refund my money.
I totally agree. They did the same thing to me. Twice. My refund check is in the mail again. That was $250 twice. No explanation.
I bought two cards the first time. One for my business and one perasonal. The website says you can have more than one. The cancelled both of those cards. I had no clue until I tried to use them. Was told they would mail me a check and nothing more.
I went out and bought another one. Same amount and same thing. Apparently my name is flagged. Apparently my second check is in the mail.

Wilkes-Barre Walmart has a policy to check EVERY receipt! It doesn't matter what you look like, if you bought something be prepared to have your receipt checked as you are going out the door. It sounds like you were just itching to be a complainer!
Oh, ... I see, you say, "I knew the receipt was in the store's electronics bag."
So, ... you knew that whole hour you stood there, ...was it a whole hour? Really? ... A WHOLE HOUR that you stood there, while other shoppers came and went around you, Frank making a scene, you calmly standing by, ... FOR A WHOLE HOUR? Really?
Anyway, ...you say you knew the receipt was in the electronics bag. But, "I opened my purse and wallet, having nothing to hide, dumped any and all receipts I had into a shopping cart." ... Really? ... If you knew the receipt was in the electronics bag, why did you do this?
Your story makes no sense.
Showing him everything in your possession, every single bit of paper and receipt you had on you, in your purse, and on your person, ...how does that figure in if you just wanted to be on your way? It would prove nothing to him, ...if he did suspect you were trying to shoplift, showing him every single receipt in your purse proves nothing if he finds nothing - if he does not find the receipt. It only proves him right (IF he, as you say, suspects you.)
Your story makes no sense.
You are either NOT VERY SMART, ...
OR
...you just wanted to make a stink and ZING them/him/Frank/management at this particular Walmart.
And that's not very respectable.
I mean, if you ARE really smart, ...you wouldn't waste an hour of your valuable time in that sort of situation. ...
Are you smart, educated, respected? ... Really?
I don't understand your story. Why didn't you just pull the receipt for the electronic item out of the bag and show him straight up?
You said, "I am well-respected, well-educated...", and "He still claimed he couldn't find the receipt after over an hour..." ----- If you are so smart, didn't you know it was in the bag? ("Electronics came up front, grabbed the bag from the greeter, looked inside, and pulled out the receipt!")
Why in the world would you stand there for over and hour while he hunted for the receipt?
You also say, "...and waited to zing my lawful rights on him." And, "I requested the floor manager, ten minutes later a section manager appeared.I refused to speak with her. Finally, the store manager did arrive.I told her it was within my right to have her call the police and make an incident report." -------- Did you just want to "ZING" them, ...get a bit of revenge for, "This particular male greeter never acknowledged me before, always giving me cursory looks."
Your story doesn't make sense.
Wow I can't believe he didn't just look in the bag in the first place instead of wasting all that time, I mean you obviously were willing to show you weren't at all guilty, he must have been having a boring day to take up all that time.
oh this was directed to kevin richards not you squeaky
shut up about your three months. no one cares. If you came to my store, i would have banned you for life and sued you for the entire extent of the law. It is quiet apparent you learned nothing from your whole ordeal [if even real]. The only thing you took from it was you got banned for 3 months which inconveniences you on not being able to go to the closest store in your neighborhood. DIAF.
Oblige.
...for the one who's going to rise above manipulation and moral castration. He will be the moses of our people and lead the nation in to new age of prescription drugs and lowered expectations. Where-as the alternative is becoming less speculation and more affirmation,
when there is much delegation for the mis-appropriation that followed when it came to funds and education, it makes us a very sad nation when the latter is of the two is of no complication because we believe the congress of this nation will fix the impending nominations. It's all just propaganda and reformation.
