My residential service agreement with Waste Management (WM) ended on September 31, 2023. On September 29, I had a certified letter send to WM stating I would not be renewing a service agreement with them for the upcoming billing cycle (Oct 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2023). I also spoke with a Customer Service Representative to confirm my cancellation, and she mentioned a $75.00 cart removal fee, which didn’t apply to me based on the “important message” on the invoice, because I wasn’t’ doing an early termination of services, nor did I paid the invoice agreeing to continue service with them. My previous service agreement with WM, paid in full, expired, I didn't renew it, and I have not used WM services since September 28, 2023.
However, on October 22, 2023, WM billed me for $127.29, which is a rip off, for services I didn’t receive and fee’s that shouldn’t apply to me. I don't think I owe them anything. They are charging me fees for not renewing an agreement with them, and charges that contradicts their stated “Important Message” on the invoice.
The “Important Message” written on the invoice, Specifically States,
“This invoice constitutes an offer by WM to provide service to you for a specified period. By paying this, you agree to continue service during the specified service period and to the terms of service at www.wm.com/OMR, with no refund (whole or partial) for early cancelation, unless such refund is required by law, regulation, or contract.
If services are canceled after initial acceptance you will be assessed a Cart Removal charge of up to $75 plus taxes and charges including WM’s Energy Surcharge, unless the cart removal charge is not allowed by regulation or contract”.
Desired outcome: I want my account to be credited for this unsubstantiated $127.29 charge, and my account be shown a zero balance.
Issue not yet resolved. I send all requested information to Waste Management at wm cares
