I currently have a mortgage on my home with Wells Fargo. I asked about refinancing to a lower rate and they said they would. After paying them for an appraisal and their fees, they have done nothing but find lame excuses to delay and deny refinancing a loan I already have with them. They've lost paperwork, ordered appraisals and canceled them and the loan processor has no idea of who or why appraisals were cancelled. They are either entirely incompetent or deliberately not refinancing loans. BTW, my loan balance is roughly 25% of the appraised value of the home and my wife and I have excelect credit scores.
Stay away from Wells Fargo!

I find it incredulous that Wells Fargo Bank doesn’t seem to give a damn about their customers. On a number of occasions, I have send emails to their “Contact Us” POC, as instructed on their website, only to not receive any answers at all, or, sometimes nonsensical answers that are probably “canned” responses that the agents read from scripts. Unfortunately, when you ask a question or have a problem that isn’t on their scripts, they have to “choose” a response anyway, even if it is not “on point”.

Further, I have written two letters to their Headquarters location, addressed to the Office of the President, since they have no customer service POC for written complaints or problems, nor do they have a Quality or Customer Service Advocate – Incredible! Both of these letters have been unanswered and my questions and problems are still not addressed.

This week, I sent another email message asking a straightforward question about a possible mistake on my online bank statement, only to receive an email reply asking me to call customer service for help. What the hell is this? Why provide online service if you cannot handle things online?

I find Wells Fargo Bank to be incompetent and unabashed in their advertising when they talk about superior customer service.

When was Wells Fargo supposed to start 'caring'?

The Business of America is Business ... and sometimes the 'cost' of doing business is entirely acceptable. ENRON was the tip of the iceberg. Not much has changed --- low risk, high return egregious business practices still prevail.

For every outrageous fact requiring judicial affirmation http://www.blog.socalcreditdamage.com/?p=39 ... how many hundreds of thousands of people either cannot or will not pursue a similar outcome with similar facts or issues?

How many people even realize that their credit and/or payment records have been either purposefully misreported?

If you need any sort of help when you fall on hard times this is not the company to deal with. I called because I knew there was some money owed ut certainly not the amount they hit me with. I was trying to the honest and upfront thing and the verbal abuse that I received from the collection department was unwarranted but very silly. I tried to be very calm at the beginning of the beginning of this craziness but lost it, then decided to let the woman I was speaking to finish her tyrade. She accused me of not listening when in fact it was she who was hearing what she wanted to hear, and to top it off she then hung on me, but only after telling me that she was not customer service she was collections. In short DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL! I cannot stress that enough.

The opening sentence says it all. You fell behind, did not "catch up" and now the vehicle is being reposed. More than you thought was owed? In repossession, YOU pay for all fees required to take over the car. If you want it back YOU have to pay all those fees on top of paying off the vehicle. If you had gone to the finance company BEFORE things got out of hand they may have worked with you. You also have to remember; you signed a contract spelling out what will happen if you make payments on time and what will happen if you do not. They are only abiding to that contract, maybe you should do the same.

I asked to get a defer payment for one month. I have not been late nor have missed payment for a year and a half as long as i owned my vehicle. I called wells fargo and spoke to one of their reps who took the information and at this time I thought the deferral was in place. after that I received 7 phone calls from them about not receiving a payment out of the 7 phone calls 6 none of them knew nothing of a deferral payment. On the 7th phone call the rep told me the deferral had not been given BECAUSE the initial person screwed up and missed some information she was supposed to get and then hung up on me.my question is why did not out of 6 people did not one person tell me this.what kind of company does this kind of harassment to their customers in good standing when you all are all looking at the same information and why harass me with 7 phone call for your screw up. This makes a company look bad and I will never deal with wells fargo again.

My wife needed eye surgery. We were offered an interest free loan from Wells Fargo to pay for the surgery. They set up the payments and sent us a monthly statement. We were told as long as we made all our payments over the 2 years of the loan. The loan would be interest free. We never missed a payment. However as we approached the end of the 2 year loan we were told the 2 years are up and we owe $956 dollars in finance charges. They obviously set up the loan to run just short enough as to cause the finance charges to kick in. I have tried repeatedly to reach someone in their corporate office to voice my dis-belief in their practices. Of course their flunky alleged supervisors will not release any numbers to the public. If anyone out there has a number for their corporate office I would appreciate if you would send it along. This company needs to INVESTIGATED!

I use Wells Fargo's Bill Pay services and have my bills setup for scheduled and budgeted payments. I also have a savings account tied to my checking account where I keep some savings on hand.
We paid a tax bill and it hit the account before I transferred funds over, triggering my account and throwing it into an OVERDRAFT situation. The first time in my life. The same day, 4 items were paid from my scheduled Bil Pay "service" without funds being available. The Bank charged $34.00 per item creating an even deeper OVERDRAFT problem and the next day. Unaware that no funds were available, my husband was able to withdraw $200 from the ATM without any notice of the overdraft situation, and on and on. In a two day period, I was charged $306.00 in overdraft fees.
I do not remember authorizing the Bank to put my account in an overdraft situation. If no funds are available, then they should not allow the transaction. Ssurely technology is available to stop a payment /cash from being transferred.

Wells Fargo credit card division took my minimum monthly payment out of my checking account without my authorization on the day my payment was due. I was paying with my check every month. Isn't this fraud...

My mother and I purchased two vehicles via our mechanic and WFF was the lender. One Christmas we needed money and was offered a refinance. After all the money we have paid into the vehicles, at a high interest rate, we only got $1000. Then when I purchased a car for my daughter they again, looking for business, asked about refinancing her car. I could get as much as $1500 out. I said okay. But then the rep called back she said she could only get me $900. I told her never mind and that's when she told me that it was too late, she had put through all the paperwork and had caused the loan to be refinanced and paid off. I was furious, I told her. Although I had agreed to the refinance, no one had contacted me about the details and I did not give the okay to refinance to receive that little amount. Then in 2002, my ex husband was injured on the job and for the past 5 years (until February 2007), he was unable to work. Thus, I received no child support and had to place our children on my medical insurance. I suffered a loss of over $800 a month and was behind in my car note in or about 2005. For more than two years WFF harassed me night and day with their incessant phone calls. When we did answer the phone, half the time no one said anything. I sent letters keeping them apprised of my situation and called them often. They rarely noted my file as they said they would. In October 2007, they repossessed my cars - 7 months before the payoff date, knowing that they could probably sell the cars and receive a better value for them. I had to borrow the money from my boss who then scolded me for not asking earlier for the money. I had to place a stop payment on the last check for $900 I had sent them. When I did that, I received a check from WFF to reimburse me for the $900. When I called them to find out how to return the check, they refused to take it back saying I was owed the money. I returned the check and then got that check back and another one. Then I spoke to a rep who said to deposit the checks. When I did, they had placed a stop payment on one (which cost me $20) and then after two months of trying to return the first check, I get a call saying I was behind by $1720.56, which was the amount of my note plus the $900. I informed me that I had mailed the note which they should have received and I explained to the rep about the $900. She then transferred me to somebody else. By the end of the call, I had spoken to 4 people of which only 1 knew what had happened. Of course, I got the usual, we will note to your file, but they hadn't. I told them that I bank with a credit union (Honda) and the credit union was on holiday hours and I could not get into to get a cashier's check until the January 2. I got the check January 3 and mailed it. Between the holidays and mid February, I was harassed about the check which they received January 8 and cashed January 9. No one could find a record of the check being received. And to top it off, they charged for late fees for a mistake they made which I tried to straighten out. Finally when it was straightened out and they reversed the late fees, I was told me not to complain by the rep who had reversed the fees when I asked why I was charged anyway for a mistake they made. I should be happy that she was doing me this favor.

For two years they did nothing, until a few months before the scheduled payoff date. Ironically, I had coordinated my bills so that I would have finally brought the account current by December 2007.

They scammed me on the refinancing, their representatives were rude, they harassed and harassed continually. When my car is finally paid in full in May 2008, I will never ever do business again with Wells Fargo or Wells Fargo Financial. Amazing how they want your business and as soon as you hit a financial bind you are treated as though you are a criminal. I wasn't avoiding payment of my bill. I was suffering a hardship and no matter how many times I explained that to them, they faked the sympathy and understanding and continued to harass me.

Call your bank and explain the issue. They should be able to do an investigatio on the amount in question. Hopefully, if they are good at what they do, they will refund you money. Remeber that there are scams out there, taking little bits of money at one time, so most don't notice the charges.

I have an adjustable mortgage. The value of my home has dropped 27% based on comparable properties in my tract. Wells Fargo/ASC has claimed to work with me but they just yank your chain. My rate is now at 9.95% and we cannot continue to do this. It seems to me that with all the losses the banks should be willing to work with homeowners, adjust their rate and market value and get them back on the right track, instead of ripping their houses out from under them. My credit used to be above average and now I have less than 500. This doesn't just affect me, it has affected my marriage and my 13 year old twins. Where are the answers? And yes, I have to file bankruptcy.

I was being overdrawn by passing a check from my account for my house rent. While i was being overdrawn they have charge me $34 for each transaction i have completed with my atm. The total overdraft fees is over $700! So this week i found out that have lost my income tax return and my whole week paycheck is being used to cover up the overdraft.they have charge $34 for even $0.99. I need to find what i can do for this problem. I contacted a personal banker but he said to me that those fees are non refundable. I know those are refundable coz they have authority to do that.i think this is very dishonest and disrespectful for account holders. In my case i was just being 6 months in usa and i am under 21 so i have to pay like $60 for income tax every week and i currently have one job and i am helping my family a lot!

i use to work at wf..let me tell ya, wfaf is a flippin joke even to work for. they want reps telling customers to go have yard sales..sale one of your tv's, sale your recliner..even if they're just a couple days past th due date. they give you a 10 day grace on adding late charges(sometimes) but not the calls. ive seem accts be called well over 50 times from fri-mon and they were still within the 10 days. and the cpi is a flippin scam if ive ever seen one. you have to have full coverage ins on the loan before you can even drive it off the lot..and still for some reason they turn around and say they dont have the ins info..well wtf happened to it? then have you fax ins info to a foney fax line that gets picked up by the trash guy and shredded...ive seen it. seriously we've called for people that are dead and start asking family members for pmts..its not their loan..the loan holder is dead and no co signer on the acct..still asking family to pay it...look the person is dead..they could give 2 ### about their credit or car anymore...

I agree with everyone on this comment board and I am so sorry to hear about all the trouble that you are all having. This is the reason I started my company. I have helped several people that have mortgages with ASC, Countrywide, and other mortgage companies that don't seem to care if they harass people or suck them dry. The comments I have heard are along the lines of trying to get blood from a stone or turnip, or something like that.

I have a service that actually will take you out of the loop of contact with ASC, or Countrywide or whomever you have servicing your loan. All you have to do is tell me how we can help you. By that I mean, tell us what you are looking for us to do for you and we will pursue the help that you want, no matter what. We have all aspects of the mortgage business covered from being a mortgage mediation company, a title company, a real estate company, all the way to having access to attorneys for litigation or help to avoid foreclosure. No aspect of help is turned away.

Let me tell you, most of the customers that I deal with have told me about the fear and the frustration of working with mortgage companies that don't seem to care or give them the runaround. To be totally fair, mortgage companies have their ways of dealing with people. Some are good, some are horrible. But one thing all mortgage companies love is being vague. When they are vague, they don't have to give you information until you ASK for it. How does that help you? How can you try to save your home if you don't know how to ask the right questions?

That’s another reason why I created this company. I take your number out of their "system". When they mail you something, it goes to me. I take the burden away from you so you can live your life without the phone calls and the letters. And the rudeness! Oh, man, if I told you some of the stories I have heard...let's just say, it’s not pretty.

I know that some people are going to look at this comment and go, this guy is trying to drum up business. Well, you're right. But here's the kicker. I used to work in mortgage collections. I used to make the phone calls and send the letters. I used to work around the people that make your lives hell. And I kept asking myself, why? Why are these people not being told about the help that’s readily available? Why are these people not being helped to make payment arrangements that are realistic? Why does this company care more about the money than about customer service when that is supposed to be their primary objective?

That's why I got out. I can not stand collections. Just because they are hiding behind a company name they think that they can say anything or act anyway they like with the customers, being friendly with one and the next 40-50 they can treat like crap. Where is the customer service?

I take all that frustration away from you and create solutions that work. I know that it may be hard to swallow, but I do. I have done it for several people. And I can do it for you too. If you want more specifics or just want to talk to me, call my office at [protected] and check out the website, which is being updated with a few new options available. And this isn't just for people facing foreclosure, people that are current and want to pay off their home early, call me. I can and will help as many people as I am able to. What have you got to lose? Website address is http://www.onlybusiness.com/members/RealtyMediationService...and if not for you, best of luck. In all your endeavors.

Yesterday I went to the Wells Fargo website to open a free checking account. At the end of the application they gave a number to dial to confirm the application. A salesman took my call. He told me that because I wanted to receive wired money into the account periodically from Britain I should forget about free checking and get a PMA - a Portfolio Management Account. He talked about many benefits and when I agreed he said that I would need to maintain an average account balance of $25, 000. No problem, I agreed to open an account with this amount. He said he'd sort everything out, shouldn't take long etc etc but within 3 minutes I had a Wells Fargo e-mail declining me without reason. Now the only reason I can imagine for this is that I am a Green card holder not a citizen. So assuming this to be correct is WF allowed to racially profile or whatever euphemism is applicable to discrimination of this sort? Can I sue them?

I opened an 18 month no interest payment plan with Wells Fargo when I got eye surgery. Everything went smoothly and for 17 months I had been paying it off. The last month - January -, I never received a statement (I had about $90 left to pay off of $3000), but I received a $600 statement in February. I called to inquire about it and I was told the account is paid off and I can just ignore it. I kept receiving higher and higher amounts every month so I called again in May. I was told there is one more payment of $98 and because it wasn't made in time I am now charged interest on the entire amount. I tried to explain that I never received a statement to no avail. I called again in June and I was told they have no record of me calling them, on the contrary they called me a year and a half before and that is the last time we had been in contact. Of course, they also stated they refuse to waive any fees. I asked to speak to a manager, and after I was on hold about 10 minutes, a manager came on the line who clearly knew what was going on from the customer service department. He was rude and told me billing statemnts are a COURTESY, I should know what my balance is and pay it off. He also told me they have no record of me calling in and I must have been calling the wrong number.

Wells Fargo gave my husband and I an equity line of credit about 1 year ago. The fees were approx. $3000. and it was a a 10 year term loan. Wells Fargo sent us a letter about 2 weeks ago that said that our credit line was " restricted" and no more explanation. When we tried to use the $255, 000 credit line, there was no balance available and we had never used the credit line before. When we called about this, they basically said that the account " was not closed" but no funds were available because the change in the housing market".

Well this came as a bit of a surprise to us as we were not aware of this drastic of a change and and this was a 10 year loan that we were never able to use. So, we paid for a credit line that is no longer available, a $255, 000 credit line against our house, that we can't use and if we want to cancel the line of credit, in order to get a credit line elsewhere, they will charge us a $500 prepayment penalty for canceling an account that has no available credit! What the He!?

So, we will never do business with this bank again and hope you don't either!

So the next time Wells Fargo should pay some of your bills, they should just reject those payments and cause them to be late.

I do agree with the taking out $200 with out the funds being there, they should just have left him standing there at the ATM with a rejected ATM card.

I believe the banks thinking is that if you need the money we will give it to you, even if you don't have it, kinda like taking out a small loan at $34 per loan.

Recently we were hit by Hurricane Ike. As alot of people know. Those of us that live on the South Texas Coast as well as inland were hit hard. I have paid my mortgage on time every month since we financed our home. My loan was bought by wells Fargo and now that we need help, They are unwilling. There idea of help is not reporting you to the credit reporting agency if we dont make one note until December, even after we were declared a disaster area by the president. Whats wrong with this company? Is the CEO of this company so greedy that they believe that giving 120, 000 to the red cross will help us? how shallow does a person have to be? If you are considering financing a home. Do NOT consider Wells Fargo. If they are trying to buy your loan and you get wind of it. Refinance right then. These people are nothing more that common criminals looking to steal your money and property by any legal means possible. That's just my opinion by experience.

Wells Fargo has withdrawn approximately $800.00 from my account because my step son's account was overdrawn.

Most of this $800.00 is bank fees.

They claim that they can do this because my wife was in my account and she was in my step son's account as well.

The problem with this of course is that my step son is an adult and he is responsible for his own finances. I had no access whatsoever to his account. I had only authorized my wife to have access to my account. I never authorized the linking of my account to the performance of another person's account over which I have no control.

These are the facts. You are smart consumers. You can make your own judgements about this bank.

Yesterday I checked my account balance and it stated $33. I bought something for $3+-. This morning I check and I was charged overdraft fees than came out to $99. I went to wells fargo and spoke to a rude young lady that called the manager over. When I explained the situation he said that an authorized transaction for $89 came in after I made the purchases and had to pay $99 because the $89 came in first. I explained to him that the $89 came after the other $13 and then changed the policy. He then told me that wells fargo charged all 3 at the same time.

The $89 came in after midnight. I then told him I thought it was poor business practices. He told me that was their business. I then told him that I was going to voice my free speech the next time they had open enrollment in my college campus. I told him that I would voice my troubles to people coming by wells fargo stand. He then asked if I was making a threat. I told him no, that I would only be voicing my right (which is granted under the constitution). He told me that the conversation was over and left without apologizing.

i had over $700.00 in my checking acct. and i went to gas station and spent $20.00 debit and then to grocery store $35.00 debit and restaurant $30.00 debit.. still over $600.00 in my acct after running errands.. on same eve i was getting my direct deposit of over $800.00 put into same checking acct... i went to another bank - union bank - and deposited my rent check into my landlords checking acct. $1100.00- no prob. since it usually takes approx 2 days to hit my wells fargo checking acct. well, next morn.. wells fargo decided to put the $1100.00 on the bottom of the list b/4 all the debits of the day and deposits and put me over $200.00 in the hole... this is horrible. i spent the next day at 3 branches of wellsfargo speaking to managers that didn't care and kept referring me to cust service who pretty much said they have the right to rearrainge all debits and deposits the way they want.. so pretty much. screw me... what is wrong with this picture? this needs to stop now...

I had the same thing happen to me. I got a Wells Fargo HELOC last year for 90K. I have a balance on it of 30K. I bought another house to fix up, that has been on the market for a couple of months, so I don't have a lot of cash, and THEY FROZE THE LINE ON ME. They told me the value of the home with the HELOC had dropped to 202K. When I got the HELOC, I paid for an appraisal, and the value was 285K. Also, I am a Realtor, so I know the value is still around $280K. At most, the value may have droped 5-10K (AT MOST)! Also, I have never paid anything late in my life. All of my credit scores at 750+.

It looks like they are applying a blanket approach to freezing up credit on people. I will NEVER use Wells Fargo again!

I bet I know how Wells Fargo survived the recent Banking meltdown, because they are robbing their customers blind with fees and false charges, they are rude and don't have a clue about Customer Service, their Auto Loan Department calls me at all times of the day, every day, any time even Sundays, I owe them $150.00, and I have called them and explained my recent financial situation. As for their Home Mortgage Department, they won't even tell me over the phone if my loan is a Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae, luckily I found out on my own, I applied for a Loan Modification and submitted all the necessary paperwork, and they now tell me it could be another 8-10 weeks? so in the meantime what am I suppose to do, let them take my home? I bet they would love that as I have alot of equity and only owe them $52, 000 on my loan, I am scared because I have 2 children one that is Special Needs, I work, but my hours have been reduced, does anyone have any ideas?

Never finance a vehicle through this company. The first problem occured last year when they took a payment out of our Wells Fargo account, but never gave us credit for it. I was always told the matter was under review. I provided documentation by fax. They could not find it. I faxed again. Under review I was told. That was a lie. They had no one reviewing the matter. I asked to talk to the ones reviewing it and was told that was not possible. Finally, after 9 months of this, a person at our local Wells Fargo Bank investigated it for us. Our payment was applied on the wrong account by them! She corrected it and late fees were waived. Why couldn't the auto finance peoplle figure this out? They never intended to!

Second proplem occured this week. We were two payments behind, so the person that called me said if we could make a payment within 4 days, they would tack the Nov. and December payment (not yet due) at the end of the loan. I did this directly at the local bank on Tuesday. I called the auto finance peoople right away to complete the process. The person said he saw the payment was made, but we needed to wait due to a posting issue. (That should have warned me right there.) He said I needed to call back on Friday to complete the process. I just did that. Now the person I talked to said we are not eligible to delay the Nov. payment and I was given wrong information -- twice! I changed my position based on their two promises and now they change the rules. Unless this is resolved, my accounts are going elsewhere and I will take legal action. I am an attorney anyway.

A representative at Wells Fargo in Jenkintown PA did not want to return $350 after changing my mind for having an appraisal on the property, he kept insisting that he cannot return the money. When I called their Corporate Headquarters a representative there said that if he doesn't know how to do it, his manager does.

The manager never even returned my calls no courtesy, no respect. It's stealing, and they almost got away with it, it has since been returned.

If that representative was desperate enough to keep $350 dollars, I can't imagine what else he would do for high dollar loans.

CAVEAT EMPTOR.

Authorized an initial charge of $1.95 on 11/19/08. During this process tried to escape but the only way to exit is to accept terms in order to exit the loop. This action was report to Wells Fargo and they declined any further investigation as they disregard the fact that you are caught in a loop. Each time I have called the following number [protected] --- I am on hold for periods of over 45 minutes and no one answers. Wells Fargo was able to get Janet on the phone but when you go to the internet to try and resolve issue, the following site comes up as a scam: Support@grantresearchguide.com --- this is a deceptive scam and the amount of $58.61 should be refunded as this service was never accessed and was charged without approval. If you don't ever access something no charges should be allowed by this scam. My cancellation # is 106272 and I want an immediate refund.

Until you access a service, no charges should process! Obviously, if you don't access a service within 24 hrs obvious means you're not interested!

I have been trying for a year this month to get correction on my car loan. I have faxed copies of where the payment was put onto an account that had already been paid off. They continually harrass you, you try to explain it and send or fax paper work showing them it was put on another account and they don't want to here that. They would have to admit they were wrong. I will never make the same mistake again. This is one place I will never borrow money from again. If I even buy another car and they say Wells Fargo is our lender, I will walk out and not buy my car there.

Totally agree with you. I have similar experience.
My current mortage is 6.125 with Wells Fargo. I have perfect credit score, enough W-2 income and high property value.
I got an offer from HSBC for 5.0% $1700 fee on Jan. At the same time, the wells fargo's loan agent called me about their no point no fee refinace 5.0% program. So, I refused HSBC.
On Feb.2, 2009, I got a phone call from wells fargo. My refinance application will be denied in 4 days unless i can provide them my IRS certified 2008 tax return. I told her that I would file my return right away and requested them to wait 3 more weeks to get an IRS stamped copy. She replied:" sorry, we have to deny your application. once you get the copy, you can apply again, current offer, 1 point $1100 fee, 5.5%."

Stay away from Wells Fargo!

Me and my wife tried to refi our 15 year fixed rate at 5.375 today with Wells Fargo now rates are record low again as they were in January through their no cost refi program. They offered us a fixed rate at 6.375 for a 15 year fixed loan. Our credit score is 800+ and our loan is approx 40% of the value of our house. Are these people scammers or what, who would want to refi for a whole 1% more? Is this how they are using our tax payers money? I am very disapointed and we will go some where else and do a refi and pay for it to get a 4% something fixed 15 year loan. Never using this bank again for any thing...

We were suppose to refinance a month ago in January on the 29th but they never showed up or sent anyone out. They came to our house February 19th, 2009 and told us that we had to prove that our taxes were paid and had to have a cancelled check right after taxes were due, which taxes were due 1 day before they came (notary from title agency). She stated we owed 500.00 more if we could not prove this day at time of closing today, we paid our taxes.

How could we, we just sent the check a week before and had no time to get the cancelled check.

The night we were going to close, our Wells Farge Rep called and told us that if we could not prove that we paid our taxes with a cancelled check that we would have to pay the 500.00. He stated we could show them our check account and that should be enough.

We have excellent credit and this was not good enough, they needed a cancelled check. LOL

We ended up not signing because I wasn't getting into that so called scam. I owned two houses and have never dealt with anything before like this and should not have to now.

This is a scam if I ever seen one.

Don't go with Wells Fargo! Ripppppp offffffs!
