Facility
The pool area is either closed down ,not any staff to monitor the pool area, sauna is not open due to a class or not staff. It's not fair for the pool open for class but can't use the Sauna while the class is going due to no staff. I have only specific times to go into the Sauna and it's not fair I can't go into the Sauna while a swimming class is going on. It's for my heath and benefit. They take your money every month. I wouldn't suggest No one waste their time and money if the whole facility is not operational under the excuse of staff shortages. If your looking to swim ,use the whirlpool or Sauna thus is not the place to attend.
Desired outcome: Whole facility be operational.
North Branch YMCA in Philadelphia
On 3/15/22 my locker was broken into and wallet was stolen containing all of my credit cards and identification.
When I approached the front desk about it. I was met with an attitude like “this happens all of the time and there’s nothing we can do about it”. I was also told that “it wasn’t our fault” meaning the YMCA’s fault. As a member for over 10 years this makes me extremely uncomfortable and now I don’t want to return as a member. I don’t feel safe going to the YMCA. I also don’t feel like my belongings are safe.
Desired outcome: I would like a formal apology of the way I was treated after I had my belongings stolen at YOUR business. There also needs to be a locker room attendant IF thefts are so bad that it’s a “norm”.

My daughter, 11 year old, goes for lap swimming. On this day, according to the YMCA schedule from 12 pm to 2:30 pm, there should be two lap lanes and two water fit lanes. The same schedule does not mention any swim lessons being offered on this day.
however when we went, there were three lap lanes and one family area. Lane #1 (extreme left) had a swim lesson going and Lane # 3 was occupied with two individuals. My daughter occupied, middle lane #2, for lap swimming. 10 minutes into it, I was approached by YMCA swim instructor asking me if you could move my daughter to family area as he has a lesson to give in that lane, which I did not like but agreed to accept and had my daughter moved to family area (no lap swimming). 5 minutes later I noticed, lane # 1 lesson got over and it was empty. I asked my daughter who at this time in family area to move to lane 1 and continue her lap swimming. she had just enter the lane when she got yelled at by the another instructor because he had another class starting in the same lane. This instructor had a high pitch voice and very unprofessional (dont know the name). He does not have any right to yell at a 11 year old when he knows a parent is sitting there. At this time I was very annoyed with lack of scheduling and him yelling unprofessionally at a 11 year old. So obviously I went after him. I narrated the whole episode in the office with Joy Hunt, welcome center supervisor. I have been told she plans to address this to the Manager, I believe the name is Rachael.
The whole episode has rattled my 11 year old and she does NOT want to go back. As a result I canceled my account as of 03/14/22, two days after the episode.
I, at this time, expect an apology from YMCA. A member should not have to go through this behavior. I would rather pay $100 and go back to Gold Fish for lap swimming than to spend $30 and not sure what I am going to get.
Daycare Rosebank
On 2/16/22 around 2:10 Ms. Travis one of your directors that over see's three schools was filling in for the normal supervisor who was out this day. On this day a four year old was assaulted, pulled aggressively several times, squeezed, rough housed, isolated and racially profiled against Ms. Travis. Furthermore Ms. Travis wrote a false statement saying that Remi Ford kick, hit and assaulted staff, completely false statement, since he was suspended Thursday 2/17/22 and investigation has been opened due to the YMCA superiors failing to investigate the matter. However being that the YMCA is on Metro property cameras has been requested and upon receiving evidence of that day it was determined that Remi Ford was assaulted and treated poorly by Ms. Travis. Footage also show Remi;s teacher trying to intervene three time to stop him from crying and being terrified of Ms. Travis and her assault that took place, which two other staff members watched take place. Ms. Travis does not deserve to work for this company dealing with kids, she is unsafe and violent, she also has a grandson there which is the root of the problem which causes her to miss treat other kids, this is a problem. However being that no one called or reached out to investigate the matter, Ms. Travis has until 1pm today to tell the truth and deliver a formal apology in written to his mother and him or these things will happen as follows, we will call MNPD and file charges to have her arrested, file a case with DCS, file a complaint with Metro school board, as well as a lawsuit against Metro schools and the ymca. Last but not least the footage will be give to news channel 2, 4, and 5 as well as scoop Nashville because this type of abuse of a child will not be over looked or tolerated. This is not a prank this is not a bluff, this footage along with this complaint will be giving to the authorities and everybody it needs to be giving to in order to hold Ms. Travis as well as the ymca accountable, 1pm today is the deadline.
Desired outcome: Ms. Travis needs to be let go immediately
Customer service discrimination
I went to the YMCA for possible. membership and or day use for the pool. I was told to put on a mask even though I am not sick and I am exempt from mask wearing. I asked the lady even if I am exempt and she said yes, my friend asked if that is a law and she said yes (this is untrue) I asked to use her pen to write down the info she is giving and she would not hand me one unless I put on a mask, I ask if their policy basically surpasses the non discrimination law. She still would not let me use a pen. I would have to leave if I dint put on the medical devise she was insistent on even in my ADA and/or religious exemption.

My kids are attending swimming lessons at YMCA in Piscataway nj. Right before their lessons starts there is a swimming class for teenagers (around 40 kids). Half of them wearing dirty boots, sneakers, not changing them. They put foot on the benches where people are sitting, making them super dirty. I addressed this to two staff members and I was completely ignored. I just don't think it's fair for other people.
gross i would cancel membership
Harassment at broadway location, staten island
I have a membership at the Broadway location in Staten Island. And I have had few incidents where I have been harassed. The most recent one was the front desk lady started getting aggressive with me and wanting to fight and not helping me out when I asked for the help. I go to the YMCA to relax and work out not to get harassed by its employees. I left the whole incident shaking and stressed out. This is observed. One I reached the management, they weren't very helpful either. And I asked them to make sure they allow their employees to treat everyone with respect. I just feel discriminated against. Cuz I don't see them doing this to other races.
Swim lessons
Good evening, I signed my daughter up for swim lessons at the Greater Hollywood Location in Florida. Today was her first and last lesson. My initial complaint; the instructors are not professional and take their jobs seriously. When you have kids in the pool your suppose to be attentive while teaching instead of snickering and carrying on conversation. So...

I enrolled my son in a beginners flag football team (ages 7-9) at the Great Bridge ymca and it has been an awful experience. He's on the Patriots team. The coaches consistently exclude our son from practices and games. He sits on the side for most practices. When they do actually let him practice, he will ask questions and gets ignored or they will dismiss his question. The coaches are very "smug" with the players and do not coach as if this is their first time playing and learning the game, which is what we thought we signed up for. We removed our son from playing after one practice where the coaches let him practice maybe 10 minutes out of the whole hour. We payed $70 for him to learn how to play and have fun and he got the complete opposite.
Desired outcome: Coaches removed
Flag football
My name is Beatriz, my son plays flag football in the ymca in Pearland age group 10-11. I am very deeply disappointed in the way things have been getting handled in our games. The parents of the ACE team have been rude and very badly mouthed during our games. When one of the couches tried to reach out to them in a calm matter he was immediately interfered by a woman named SUSAN who said she worked in the GREATER HOUSTON YMCA. Susan very rudely and bluntly cut him off even though he was not being unprofessional in any way, SUSAN also just sat right next to the parents (I believe her child plays in the ACE team) and allowed them to chant out names and call our team cry babies and make baby crying noises along with many other vulgar language. When I brought this to her attention she stated that she told them to stop. However I was watching them the whole time and she never once said anything to them. I believe this type of behavior should be addressed. When I asked her for her name she then immediately got on the phone with Rufus and started complaining about the couch who did absolutely nothing wrong, but tried to tell the name calling parents to please not show that kind of behavior and always come with a positive mindset to our kids games. We all come here to watch our kids play and have fun however when this type of behavior is being projected onto our kids and the people who are supposed to be in charge do nothing about it, it becomes a big issue.
Kind regards,
Beatriz Hernandez

Membership
After my complaints that covid mask state mandates were not being enforced were effectively ignored I cancelled my membership, in the email thread the ED Brianna Barber confirmed to the membership person Lindsey Edmond to cancel my membership. I also separately mailed that person. So far Edmond has ignored all mails and I have been illegally charged this month. No-one answers their phone when I call so I am left with complaining here. The place is woke nightmare staffed by people who are unfit for purpose but tick the right box.
Desired outcome: Refund of $30, cancellation of future payments and written apology.
Swim lessons
I signed my son up for swimming lessons at my local YMCA. From the first week of lessons we experienced many concerns. In hopes that we would see improvements within the program and the fact that my son was having fun, I let a lot of issues slide. What happened to us tonight was the final straw. Here I am asking for help! I do not know of another avenue to have my issues addressed! We had a makeup class tonight due to inclement weather. We received an email from the aquatics director on instructions on the makeup lesson information and commented, if anyone had questions or concerns to please call or email her. To confirm and also touch base with her, I reached out both via email and voice-mail (did not answer her direct line). Tonight comes for the makeup class. We invited grandparents to attend and had planned a pizza get together with the families afterwards. We are all excited and proud of how well our children have done. We wait and wait and wait. It is now 10 mins past our start time and there is no instructor..? So my husband and I go to check in with the front desk to find out what was going on. She couldn't give me an answer as to why no one was here. she proceeded running around borrowing peoples phones to try to get an answer. She came back and said she was sorry but the instructor was running late and they would be here asap. Awesome! So we wait and wait and wait. No one shows. Again, I ask for an update and she runs around AGAIN looking for answers. She returns to tell you us that the instructor said she is not coming.. what? So what are we supposed to do? We are all here with our small children dressed and excited for swim class.. how do you explain that and comfort the disappointment of something out of your control? I asked to speak to the aquatics director, whom I had called and emailed earlier in the week and had not yet received any form of communication back. She went back into the office for a few minutes. Came back and said she was unavailable and that I could email her or call her on Monday. There was nothing she could do to further help me. This was the most unprofessional experience I have EVER had. Is the YMCA in the business now of taking families money and not providing the services we have paid for. The management of the Yadkin YMCA needs serious attention. I do not think this was at all acceptable and I will be sharing my experience with everyone in hopes someone else's child does not experience this disappointment again.
Please someone in upper management contact me. I have gotten zero communication with the Yadkin YMCA management staff returned to me.
Also this to note:
1. Class started late and ended early most days
2. Had a new instructor each lessons.
3. Teenage boys splashing and cursing in the swimming lesson areas.
This was addressed with the life guard and the front desk manager. They informed me that as long as they are not disrupting the class, that it is allowed. WHAT? You bring your 1 yr old and 3 yr old to the YMCA for swim lessons and this is acceptable behavior the YMCA stands by? This is where you have to be concerned your children are getting exposed to cursing and disrespect!?
4. Another child, mother and grandmother swam beside swim class and preceeded to have their own swim lesson using the swimming teaching materials and our classes swimming area.
Desired outcome: Please email or call me: [protected] [protected]@live.com
Same here at the Hendersonville NC YMCA They just took our money & my daughter does not know how to swim yet she’s still in Stage 2 for the Second time. They are so irresponsible and they said they were going to give credit for 2 classes that they had cancel and I didn’t know but they haven’t 😡😡
Feedback of swimming instructor for group lesson in East el camino. We drive around 30 mins to be there and have spent 300$ to learn swimming. But those lessons have not been useful at all. We are close to completion of session and have still not learnt anything. Instructor is punctual and means well but he is not able to teach swimming or techniques to practice. Initially we thought it could be us but this weekend we took help from a friend and he was able to help us better in a 40 mins session than the time in total we spent at YMCA. It feels such a waste of time and money to be there in cold to learn nothing. I am really disappointed in these sessions and will never recommend it to others.
Staff member
HI,
My name is Elyssa Yantiss.
I am sending this email in regards to harassment that I have received over a period of time from one staff member at the YMCA in Greensburg, Indiana. The Decatur County YMCA. I have been a member of this YMCA for over 7 years. I have recommended almost everyone I know to join here. I love the flexibility of the 24/hour gym, the amazing equipment and how friendly most of the staff are. However, in the last 8 months there has been a new worker who stalks the women in the fitness facility. He is an older gentleman around 70, very tall, very built body-type, with white hair and blue eyes. I noticed him when he interrupted my workout. He forced me to take my headphones out to talk to him although I made it VERY noticeable that I was uncomfortable. This proceeded to happen over the next month's visits there. Keep in mind that I was a member who would go every day or every other day. It got to the point to where he would not leave me alone and followed me around the gym while I was trying to work out. I would fake calls from my fiancé to steer him clear, but as soon as he would think that I was off the phone, he would come find me again. He gets VERY close to your face and absolutely towers over you. I finally complained to the Decatur County YMCA and I was shocked. I had another female worker tell me that she also feels very uncomfortable around him & that another one of her friends was followed home by him after her workout. There have also been a large variety of other women members complain about this same staff man, but here is it 8 months later and NOTHING has been done. There have also been complaints about him stalking young teenage boys at the YMCA as well. I filed a formal complaint, wrote a statement and never heard anything back. I called and they basically told me to get over it. My mom wanted to join and I tried to warn her, but she insisted. After one visit she was petrified of going back because of the same man. This was just a month ago. I have not been back in 8 months because I'm terrified of being stalked and harassed. It has completely ruined my experience with the Greensburg IN YMCA. I expect to go somewhere where I feel safe, not stalked and harassed by ONE OF THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES. I have tried to cancel my membership, but they would not let me. So I am still paying for a membership that I refuse to use because of this horrific issue. It is so sad. I have watched him stalk other women while I'm preoccupied. I once had to wait for him to use the restroom so that he wouldn't see me leave and follow me out. This is insanely absurd for a "family/Christian" facility. Please do better. Take care of your members before a young girl OR boy disappears or is hurt. Please hear me and do something regarding this. it makes me extremely sad that I have lost my passion for fitness b/c I do not feel safe here. I feel bothered and stalked. I miss the good workouts i would have & friendly staff at this gym.
Desired outcome: To be safe in the gym.

I want to file a formal complaint. I went to the YMCA at 52nd Street yesterday, July 20, 2021. One of your desk workers yelled at my son and me. I scanned my son and daughter's membership cards. As we were going to exercise, your worker (a lady) mentioned that my daughter didn't have a picture in the system. I said, yes, she does. The lady at the desk started to yell. I was upset but continue with our workout plans. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, disrespectful, and disgraceful toward my family. I want a regional manager to contact me concerning this accident.
Desired outcome: Regional manager teach workers how to behave in dealing with the public.
Lack of assistance/ communication
Hello,
I registered my son for basketball and i have yet to receive the schedule or a link for the schedule. I have requested it from Jean Crosby about 5 times and after asking me gender, name etc.. he never provided me the schedule. I simply want my sons schedule but he just tells me it was sent to me on Monday. I've informed him I don't have it.
Desired outcome: Jean Crosby
Swimming class
Administration doesn't not prioritized maximizing instruction. The class that last onli 30 minutes many times begins 2 minutes late a day by then, the instructor star getting ready for his class. Like gathering tools needs for instruction. Then, he loose the time playing around and asking the kids one by one to do routinary practices like kicking the water. This can be done simultaneously.
No personal problem with instructor. Administration just should work in doing closer observation and maximizing time to get the clients feel that paying $80, 00 is a good investment for 30 minutes.
Desired outcome: Maximize time
Unauthorized charges of membership on hold
My mothers is a senior with long time membership and due to pandemic period her account has been on hold and YMCA has been updated on time.
I have a whole thread of emails to prove we have been clearly communicating during this period.
But we have been charged since May and I only found out when I contacted myself Ketchum YMCA to enquire about a membership upgrade. By then, on June 14th never informed us about these on going charges of an account that was definitely on hold, we never received any warning neither I was informed when I exchanged emails with Ketchum representative who is now refusing our refund. As a matter of fact during the emails exchange he made sure to charge one more month of July! which made us feel very disappointed with his service and info provided.
We would like the refund [edited] is refusing us.
Pls see email attached and I am happy to send all emails documented since last year.
Please return to email [protected]@gmail.com
or please call Mary at [protected]
Thank you.
Desired outcome: refund
