AARP Services Medicare insurance/medicare supplement

Today 11/10/2016 I called AARP who has my medicare supplement wanting them to reprint proof of how much my premiums were for my food stamp worker. I am very ill with medical issues and am too sick to work and cannot work. I spent 4 hours trying to get this issue resolved. They wanted me to get on the internet and do the one button and its done type thing so they would not have tohelp me. I spent another 2 hours trying to set up a password and after 3 hours got no where doing it. The computer just sat there. I called Customer service at their 800 number and they said I had to wait another 3- days for another statement to print and Then they transferred me to Technical support and he kept saying over and over you have the wrong website when AARP Medicare Complete was all over the website and the screen. They both were rude and did not want to help me or do anything. I have had this plan for 4 years and have paid them thousands for my premiums and my meds and co pays. I do not deserve to be treated like dirt. I need this information. This technical support rep just was stupid and sounded slow. All he kept saying over and over and over was that I had the wrong website when the screen said I had to create a 51 letter password and over 3 hours kept trying to do that and the screen sat there and did absolutely nothing. He irritated me and kept acting slower and slower by his speech. The bottom line is that he did not care and it was in his speech and actions on the phone. He said that we are working on a one button and its done internet system. Life does not work this way and never will work this way ever. After 50 years of dealing with companies this is the absolute worst that any insurance or any company has treated me as a paying customer. This is a warning. Never ever never ever never ever never ever never ever never ever never ever sign up with AARP Medicare Complete. They have cut two of my diabetes meds for good never to return them. I won one appeal and lost the other one. They lied to me and said that Diabeta was an expensive drug and it is not. Wal Mart has it for less than $10 a month. This is a warning to never ever ever never never ever sign up for this health insurance company because when you need help it will not be there for you at all. They suck real real bad and could care less about anyone or anything especially you as a customer.

AARP Services free gift travel bag

I joined AARP and was promised a travel bag as free gift.the pictured they showed online was very large! The one I received was tiny as can be, not even a child could use it. This was false advertising and an old trick called bait and switch. I think AARP should be fined or send me the large bag they advertised. How sneaky!

I was strong armed by "Hartford" insurance to join AARP for $16.00 in order to get cheaper premium car insurance than what my old insurance was going to be.

I could have renewed my aarp online for $12.00 and a free gift. That Big Travel bag the other mentioned. So I'm ripped off $4.00 upfront a $fee no doubt to Hartford for signing me up.

No free gift or code.

Now I find this board to discover AARP is shoving Big Pharma demonic rats and Vaxx B.S. down seniors throats! Wheres any talk of med beds or any Quantum Healing Devices?

Wheres my fricking free gift, I apprantly paid for up front!

AARP Services not receiving promotional products offered

I received an offer to renew my membership and by doing so, I was supposed to get a 4-piece Luggage Organizer set. So...on 042716 I sent in the money, but guess what..as of today, 081616 I still have not received it. It appears that a lot of people were treated the same. What do all of us need to do, to get what we were promised? Is this a scam, or should we take action against them for false advertising?

AARP Services general

While AARP provides opportunity to critique its providers, it is virtually impossible to communicate with AARP regarding needs of its members. For example, how can such an organization have no services to address health insurance coverage for its members during international travel other than to advise that they are not covered by medicare (and the AARP supplemental plans). Thanks so much for that very informative and useful information. Enough to make me throw in the towel on AARP and seek alternative supplemental insurance. A total lack of caring about its members other than as a useful force to pursue its selfish political agenda.

AARP is not what they claim to be. What follows is a post I made about their car insurance scam.
When I applied for their auto insurance from the Hartford; my premium was $850.00 a year for 2 vehicles. I trusted them and signed up for the "TruLane" deal where you install a GPS device that records your driving habits. We are in our "golden years" and drive sensibly with no citations or accidents. They claim that "TruLane" will help lower your rates. We drive about 10K a year divided between 2 vehicles. When all was said and done: my next years premium went UP to $960.00 a year. I emailed to complain and was told that the "TrueLane' program is not intended to help lower premiums. "TrueLane" is a scam for harvesting data to sell to online hucksters. After we completed the "trueLane" program: the telemarketer calls went from 2 or 3 a week to as many as 10 a day! The spam in my inbox went crazy also. Mostly from shysters selling "extended warranties" and other shysters selling "security systems" and a good number of hang-up calls from numbers that sometimes had a person selling their crap.
Anyone reading this: Don't fall for the "TrueLane" crap unless you want 10 telemarketers a day on the phone and an excess of spam in your inbox! If you're an aggressive driver: "TrueLane" ain't for you either! While "TrueLane" does nothing to reduce premiums: you can bet your bippie they WILL use it to inflate your premiums!
I looked at other carriers and couldn't find any lower rates. I will shop at other sites on my renewal date. The first time I find a lower rate: I will vote with my feet. Their practices are deceptive with the "trueLane" and they do sell the data to phishing sites and disreputable telemarketers. I was forced to purchase a call blocking device. I think they should have to reimburse me the $100.00 I paid for the box. I looked up every number from those schmucks and found there are thousands of complaints against every number I researched.
Thank God I didn't fall for their "health insurance" rip-off"! I won't be buying anything recommended by AARP. It's like the Clinton Foundation where only 10% goes where it should go!

I have also found that any discounts AARP offer their members on car rental, flights, hotels, etc. can be found most places on the web much cheaper than AARP. For example, I was on a Expedia.com for car rental and AARP was written all over the page mentioning AARP discounts, when I checked the AARP discounted rental cost it was more expensive than the regular rental car company's rate ON THE SAME PAGE.

AARP Services tax services

My 92 year old aunt gets her taxes done very year from AARP. This year I am handling her matters. I live in Philadelphia and the tax preparer for AARP is at 1650 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103, Suite 675. When you call to make an appointment, you get a machine and you never get a return call. When you go in person, the building will not let you up to the sixth floor to schedule an appointment. How do you ever get an appointment. It is ridiculous.

AARP Services fraudulent invoices

As I was approaching 65 aarp began their marketing "assault". I hate them and would never, ever have anything to do with them. So what happened? They started sending me invoices for my membership that I ordered! Liars and frauds. I want to get in on a class-action lawsuit. It's been time for a long, long time.

I get new cards in the mail with an invoice every month starting right after I renew until I actually have to renew. I renew in December - got my cards - since last December I get new cards and an invoice every month. I just don't even open up the envelope - just trash them. But what really pisses me off is that they are a non-profit and survive on our donations and look how they are wasting the donations they receive. You probably don't even know some of the events, etc that you attend, that the proceeds are donated to AARP. Can you imagine how much printing and postage is wasted. It even goes to people who never joined . They must buy lists from junk mailers to get our ages and addresses. My mom never was a member. Every month for the last 4 years that she lived with me, both of us got cards with our name on them and a bunch of info printed on expensive card stock or brochure paper which costs a fortune. They should be reported for wasting donations from the public on this crap. This is why I don't donate to non-profits. Low income, but want to help, but when I see this waste- I'm done!

I am also getting these invoices and was wondering if it was just me. My late husband and I belonged to AARP. The dues are paid until 2018. I have been getting invoices for a year saying that I owe money. These are in my name only and they say I ordered it. Well, I didn't. They are sending them more often and I am beyond frustrated. I don't plan to renew when the subscription runs out some time next year. They are saying that I owe it and have to pay. I wonder how many other people are getting them and whether they are even from AARP.

AARP Services realpad

Dear Madam, Sirs: My name is Ms. Joan Burch and I purchased a Real Pad Oct 7, 2015. It didn’t work properly. I exchanged it back to AARP where it was originally purchased. The return slip had an incorrect address from AARP and confusing for exchange. I delivered the malfunctioning product to Fed-EX and AARP received the malfunctioning product. The confusion was apparently on the AARP Return slip which had the wrong address which had been typed in by AARP RealPad. I had previously purchased the product which had a tracking receipt and my correct address. I spoke with Manager Jeremy Destain @ AARP RealPad @ [protected]. There was no resolution. The manager blamed me for not correcting a wrong address on the return slip which had been typed in by AARP RealPad. The product was delivered to the wrong address and I didn’t receive my RealPad. I had paid $79.99. Jeremy Destain instructed Angela (clerk or representative) to tell me to file a claim with FED-EX but FED-EX delivered the malfuntioning RealPad back to AARP RealPad and AARP RealPad acknowledged receiving the malfuntioning product. The new product was sent to a previous address (not my address) that had been notated on the return slip to AARP RealPad. I suggested to Jeremy Destain that customers should receive a blank return slip and fill in their information. However, Jeremy Destain disagreed with my suggestion. Manager Jeremy Destain told me that there was no one higher above him that I could talk too and hung up the phone on me. My ticket number @ AARP RealPad is 1932479. My AARP number is [protected]. I would like to receive a working product or get my refund. This has been a nightmare and the above manager is unapproachable over the phone. AARP Services i have been trying to find out if your national office ever hires people on a part time basis.

I've put up with long waits fruitless waits on your 800 numbers and sent off E-mails to a number of your board members but have never spoken to a live person or gotten any responses to my E-mail messages. I freely admit I'm disabled but I was forced to retire from my 33 year government job where I helped other lawyers use computers to do their work more efficiently. While the union attorney and I both thought I would prevail if I sued to get back my job the stress of being without health insurance all while waiting for at least six months to get a favorable court decision would very likely cause an exacerbation of my multiple sclerosis! But I made that decision and am living with the results. But I'm just trying to find out if your National Office ever employs people on a part time basis! I have awards and honors from an Attorneys General and four Secretaries of Labor for my work but I can't get any answers to my questions seeking to find out if AARP ever employs people on a part timer basis! I have 4 decades of experience helping set up IT systems and have advocated for myself and other elderly persons to get them appropriate help. But I can never apply for any IT or advocacy jobs I see on your talent network because all the jobs are for full time positions! Do I have to file an ADA complaint to just get my basic question answered?

AARP Services membership dues

I have been a member since 2013. I am a small business owner. Every year I receive abundant solicitations to renew my membership (including new cards) 6 months before renewal time. This wastes members money. this year I decided to enroll for 5 years. After my check cleared I received a promotional option that would have saved me A YEARS MEMBERSHIP FEE!
SHAME ON YOU AARP! You supposed to be helping people out, instead you are ripping us off.
Either get together or SHUT DOWN!

AARP really must start to cease sending multiple billing statements when they are not due. For older people who they cater to it almost feels as if they are hopeful that they don't recognize when due and keep sending them more money. I am a caregiver for elderly and I know that is exactly what happens! You're discounts on insurance and prescriptions are not competitive. If you wish to truly service the older public sector, than save the mass mailings which are so wasteful and confusing to them. Get better discounts for your members. I enjoy the AARP newspaper and magazine and find it to have interesting and valuable content. I enjoy the restaurant and business discounts. I use the Denny's one often. Seriously though look at cost cutting on junk billing and mail, get involved in better discounts for senior insurances. That's what they REALLY NEED. And services for them to travel and stay in their homes.

I also get multiple renewal notices often, complete with the membership cards. I'm looking at 3 sets right now. I agree that it's a total waste of money to do that (one of them was giving away a "travel package" which looked like a wallet and a visor organizer. I was just about to send in a 3 yr renewal and noticed that they were coming from different PO boxes and zip codes, although both from Long Beach, CA. I decided not to renew, and I had been a member for about 25 years! My hubby says that most of our discounts in traveling come from his military or senior discounts anyway. We have good insurance companies, so we don't need that part. (in addition, I'm sure that I get a lot more spam in email and paper mail, too. I can't prove it, but I think that AARP might be sharing my data with other companies). Enjoyed the magazine, but bye bye, AARP! ...same treatment will apply to various charities who send out free stuff with multiple mailings throughout the year. To me, that says they don't really need my money.

AARP Services inability to online book a trip when flying into one city and returning from another

Through the years, I have successfully booked numerous vacations ( for my family + wife and myself ) using the Expedia AARP Travel Center website. As I once started to book our January Costa Rica vacation, I immediately noticed the website had been updated. However, I was unable to book a flight going into San Jose ( SJO ) and approx. 1 week later, leave from Liberia ( Lib ). After numerous failure attempts ( trying different prompts, etc. ), I called the national travel number. The gentleman who I talked with confirmed that this ability has been removed for AARP customer but he could assist me ...and perform this task at his desk. Because I did not have any desire to stay on the phone for hours
( examining different days, times of departure from both cities, etc. ), I thanked him for this information... hung up the phone.
Additionally, I use to be able to reserve multiple hotels in the various cities/ towns the vacation encompassed. Apparently, that ability has also been removed.
All I can say is that I don't understand why such a useful tool would have been deleted...Eventually, I booked my air flights through the airlines but did individually reserve the hotels through the AARP site.

AARP Services membership solicitation

received a mailing that welcomed my new membership and requested payment of 16.00

I did not join aarp, I would and will never join this liberal arm of government oversight.

I resent the attempt to make me think I had joined I resent the fact that this appears to be something done in hopes that many will just pay the fee.

this is shoddy, deceptive and insulting. may actually be criminal.

AARP Services wrong number of rooms was booked

Our family and friends booked the hotel through AARP Travel Center. We paid the deposit for 12 rooms, but these people mixed the whole booking and reserved wrong room for us. The total number of rooms was 10, but they took money for 12 rooms. The company likes to mislead people and you should be careful with these guys, because it is almost impossible to get money from them.

AARP Services deceptive fundraising - mail

Just received my renewal notice from AARP. Thought it strange since I'm a multi-year member. Checked my records and I'm not due for renewal. Looking closer, I see it's a renewal notice from AARP Foundation, not AARP.
So, because I donated to the Foundation before, I get a renewal notice? Really?
And it looks likes a membership renewal. Coincidence? I don't think so.
I think it's a misleading mailing designed to confuse the recipient into thinking it's a membership renewal, which will generate more money again for the Foundation.
How ethical is that? So, what does the Foundation stand for anyway if they use dishonest fund raising tactics? How trustworthy?
Bad will is a terrible/stupid thing to generate.

AARP Services failure to spell out airport

Boarding pass did not spell out Hobby Airport. HOU there is no reference this is Hobby Airport. Failure to properly label itinerary. Asking for credit voucher for future flight. No plans at this time. Lost ID driver license at Bush air port unable reschedule flight for today.

AARP Services harassment and deceit

AARP has been sending me junk mail for years. try to finds their contact number on their web site, almost impossible. These people have become a huge merchandiser and have lost sight of their original motive to be an advocate for seniors. Their credit cards have TERRIBLE rates and they act like they are trying to take care of us! I do not need a company with financial motives and partners helping me. Recognize they are a big business like any other. Their customer service rep did not likemy speaking up and just talked right over me, very rude. They have 7 pages of where they "share" my information. Their privacy issues are a whole problem on their own. They sell any and all information to the highest bidder. It takes 12 weeks to get out of their junk mail listing.

What every you do, do not buy this insurance. It is a ripoff. I have been trying to get them to pay on a 5000.00 policy since Feb. They use a third party to get medical records from them which I think is horrible. Once they contest your policy in my opinion it is a rap. This is my second experience with them. We had to pay out of pocket ourselves for the funeral and still waiting for the policy to pay. I am at the 50 mark and will not use any of their service.

AARP Services refuse to refund money paid when policy was cancelled

I opened a life insurance policy with AARP a few months ago and have been getting the run around ever since. My daughter checked out the policy for me online and we decided on a coverage amount. First AARP sent notification to me stating they could not complete the coverage then I received notification that they would uphold the insurance and for me to fill out the paperwork and submit payment, which I did. I have paid AARP about three months until I received a notification that my policy was in default due to a lapse in payment. I was confused as I have been paying faithfully my payments and even sent in a voided check to allow for them to automatically remove the money from my account. My daughter logged in and paid the amount they said I owed with a credit card. Upon further investigation I noticed that AARP opened two life insurance policies for me under different social security numbers. When I asked about this I was told that somehow I opened two policies. When I told them I didn't and that I would like that money to instead be moved to my policy that I have been paying on time monthly, I was told that they couldn't do that. They can cancel the 2nd policy for me but because I didn't cancel within my time frame I can't get my money refunded. How is this possible when I didn't even know I had two policies open up by AARP. This company is a fraud and rip off and I will never do business with them again. They have the worst billing and customer service individuals.

AARP New York Life Insurance Plans

If you get a AARP life insurance quote, the policy is actually being underwritten by New York Life. The AARP life insurance rates are based on group rates offered by the New York Life group division. These rates differ significantly from the policies which are sold by New York Life agents in the open market.

The coverage offered by AARP New York Life Insurance include both term and permanent life insurance. Both plans utilize simplified underwriting, which means New York Life insurance reviews a few medical question and applicants do not have to undergo a medical exam to qualify for coverage. There is also whole life insurance for which you cannot be turned down.

AARP Services liberal policies

AARP is losing sight of what brought them into being originally. It is no longer interested in the common man but becoming buddies with all of the underdogs in this world. I am so reminded by them of one of our parties. My latest complaint is of AARP again backing president Obama in wanting to take part of our social security retirement fund and put it in the social security disability fund. We all know about the horrendous fraud going on in the disability section with people stealing billions on false claims and instead of AARP demanding our president fix this to make the disability fund solvent, they go after our retirement savings. Bunk!

I have been going through this with their customer service for almost 2 weeks. I was trying to use a credit of almost $2000 to book a flight. They quoted $4019 per passenger if I want to use my credit. However, as per their website, the cost is $2341.10 per passenger. This almost half of that quoted if I want to use the credit. I think it is unethical especially when it comes from the aarp which is supposed to help and protect our retired citizens. They do not return my inquiries any more. I agree with previous reviews, their customer service needs to be abolished.

AARP Services Wrong booking-error-charged for 2 rooms - in different cities and states!

we would be aided, and are severely disappointed that no aid was given not offered. Not to mention that now, all these extra expenses are harming us, and put us back a good bit. Something that we had been looking forward to, a reason to celebrate, and a short get away from life at the homefront was injured.
Where is the helping hand, the understanding, the real customer service that keeps good standing between AARP/Expedia and their clients? Especially since this is a reoccurring problem in booking Mt.Pleasant Best Western.
We ALL are only human.
This must be rectified and made good on AARP/Expedia`s part in what both the Front Desk`s in Michigan and in Texas are calling an online 'glitch', in making the booking locations clearer and bolder, and by providing better customer service, and policies.
It`s a shame this had to happen to us, and other customers before us.

I am a breast cancer survivor twice over with my 3rd surgery scheduled for Nov.3rd, off on medical leave due to symptoms/side effects of past surgeries/chemo/cancer treatments.
Our wedding anniversary was Oct 17, we saved for a motel and tickets to a concert in Mt.Pleasant MICHIGAN.
It was thought we acquired a great deal on a room in Mt Pleasant MI at a Best Western under 'Flexible Rate*Best Least Restrictive' with our AARP discount- we are members and pay our dues.
We arrived at our motel after traveling from our home in Grand Rapids MICH. Upon check in we were told that our room was booked at Best Western in TEXAS!Our orginal rate could not be honored, and the hotels there were booked-save for 1 room at the Best Western there for $159.07!
The front desk told us this has happened to his customers already a few times, and upon calling Texas to see if we could cancel or remedy, the front desk there, Jill, informed us it was out of their hands, and this had happened in vice versa between Mich and Tx several times !
We called Expedia/AARP travel imploring for help in this situation, seeing it was becoming a common mistake in booking, and were placed on hold, and rerouted for approx. an hour.
We were told no discount, no refund, no honoring, no canceling, it was totally OUR fault! We were told that the hotel must have been checked further down the drop down list online ( Mt Pleasant Mi is the FIRST on the list ) and that comformation confirmed that we KNEW the booking was in Texas (addresses are in VERY SMALL print, and the headers we see for both Michigan and Texas reads Mt.Pleasant Inn and Mount Pleasant (Mount Pleasant) no location on headers )
Not only did the original rate of approx.$68.00 come out of our pockets, but then an add of $159.07. Being an AARP Member and using Expedia to us was something we trusted, and we were quite sure that we would be aided, and are severely disappointed that no aid was given not offered. Not to mention that now, all these extra expenses are harming us, and put us back a good bit. Something that we had been looking forward to, a reason to celebrate, and a short get away from life at the homefront was injured.
Where is the helping hand, the understanding, the real customer service that keeps good standing between AARP/Expedia and their clients? Especially since this is a reoccurring problem in booking Mt.Pleasant Best Western.
We ALL are only human.
This must be rectified and made good on AARP/Expedia`s part in what both the Front Desk`s in Michigan and in Texas are calling an online 'glitch', in making the booking locations clearer and bolder, and by providing better customer service, and policies.
It`s a shame this had to happen to us, and other customers before us.
