your hair product nice 'n easy by clairol dried my hair out completely, it looks and feels like straw.
See above, as well I have been dismissed by Chubb insurance even though I have provided three receipts of purchase with skew numbers and a picture of the conditioner tube. I have also provided pictures of my hair. Chubb insurance did not contact my hair dresser for their comments and to substantiate my claim. I know that they do not want me to be compensated. I have the interviewed recorded and the insurance agent (Williams) should get the academy award for his attempts to throw me off. The only thing that has changed in my life is that I used the new and improved formula. I have had to cut my hair short because my hair was so damaged looking, it was embarrassing and my hairdresser advised me that it would take two years to get rid of all the dead hair with just trims. I had long, luscious hair before. I am very disappointed at Clairol (Coty) failure to acknowledge the problem and compensate me accordingly.
nicen'easy
Such a pity that Clairol decided to change a product that didn't need changing. Furthermore they have not owned up to the mess they have caused. So many of their shades are nowhere near the original yet they won't admit it. I'm having so much trouble getting any sort of refund for their faulty product and how much it cost to restore my hair to a reasonable colour. Such a big company should be more helpful.
nice n easy permanent hair colour
I'm writing on behalve of my mum she is absolutely distraught she doesn't want to leave the house she has gone from a light blonde to a mousey Brown. The colour on the box is not the final outcome colour I have photographs of her hair before and after and of the bottles I am extremely unhappy and want something doing about this as I've read other complaints and she is not the only person this has happened to
nice'n easy 9a light ash blonde
I have been using this product for many many years. It took me a long time to find a color I really liked. I received many compliments on it. I stuck with you when you changed the number, pictures and formula. But this last change is just awful. I always bought three boxes at a time. So I have given it more than one try. I am on my last box and this is it. I quit and you have lost a devoted customer. The new formula smell gives me a headache and the color is not the same. It fades very quickly. I hate to think of trying out new products but I do not like what you have done to this one. Apparently I am not the only disapppointed customer. Change is not always a good thing. Was it worth it.
nice and easy 7c
I hate it.
My dark blonde hair is now dirty Brown. No lovely tones. Just dark and dirty looking.
I have used your product for 35 years, various blonde shades, and loved them all. What on earth has gone wrong? I haven't stopped crying, two days ago I used 7c, dark cool blonde and now I don't know what I can do. I want to get rid of this colour, how can I do this. Can I use another brand so soon over the to of this?
Please help.
Hi, I totally agree with you soo disappointed with the new nice n easy used it like I normally do and could not believe at the result horrible dull brown hue coloured hair. Gone was my lovely shiny blonde beautiful hair when I looked in the mirror I was gutted my heart sank at my reflection what have they done ! this is not acceptable clairol you have ruined my hair and need to bring back the old formula please listen to us please.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. IT SUCKS !
I have not been achieve the my favorite look, right color formula with anything else! SUGGESTIONS?
nice n easy permanent hair colourant
I have been using Clairol Nice n Easy for over nine years, and always the same or similar colour in the 5 range. I bought some a couple of weeks ago and noticed it said "new and improved". I am angry and disappointed for the following reasons..
1. The colour was not "medium brown" (it was almost black!)
2. No shine whatsoever- totally flat and dull
3. It washed out after two washes!
I would like an explanation, and a refund at the very least. I now have to search for a different product from another company which is a huge shame.
I hope i get a response from clairol!
I had the same problem! The "new and improved" turned my normally golden hair into a straw stack. I usually get red highlights from #8 but the new version made my hair the same brassy blonde all over. Not using THAT again! Linda Ogram
hair color
I use clairol to color my hair for years. I recently have noticed some grey hair and used your product 9.5A (101) as that's the one I always use. It says it covers grey hair and I did it twice and it did not cover my grey hairs. I am very disappointed that it would say on the box it covers greys and it did not cover mine. I will not use your product or recommend it to my friends. How dissapointing .
Nice and easy light brown no 6 --bar code [protected]
did absolutely nothing- no color it was thick and difficult to apply-and after 20 minutes nothing
eleanor moore --moore.world@hotmail.com
Have used your medium brown for years. Always had great color results. It always covered my grey and allowed my natural reddish highlights to shine through. This new formula is HORRIBLE. Medium brown should be a nice mousy brown (which is my natural hair color and always loved it) THIS IS DARK BROWN! I have a wedding this weekend and I'm going looking like a vampire with my hair this dark. RIDICULOUS!
Time to find a new product. Sorry Clairol, this massive mistake you made could be a huge dent in your bottom line as many of us will move to other brands. I will. The two unopened boxes I have are going back to the store. I HOPE women read these reviews BEFORE buying your new formulas.
I won't ever take a chance with your hair color again. None of your other colors appeal to me.
I have used Nice & Easy for almost 15 yrs. Light Golden Brown. Well today my hair is almost Black. What did you people do? It is horrible. It looks like straw and feels the same. This is the worst product. I've never had a bad experience with Clairol or any other hair color product. Your company needs to fix the problem. Looks like I'll be buying L'Oreal instead. I'm so depressed over this. I don't think y husband will be very happy when he gets home.
My hair is short and I get it cut every 4 weeks. So will let it grow out for a few months.
I'm glad that other woman have had the same experience, at least I don't feel so all alone.
I too have been using nice 'n easy for many years. The new formula, I used it three times, left my hair straw like. I've had to cut it short. My hairdressers said it would take two years to get it all out just with trims. I have got nowhere with Clairol and their insurance company Chubbs, completely dismissing me. I did call Clairol and spoke to a person, they referred me to their insurance company. Mr. Williams indicated that no one else has ever complained about straw-like hair. I knew he was not telling the truth.
I'm so upset my lovely dark blonde hair is dirty Brown. I can't so crying. 35 years of usage. I loved nice and easy. What have you done?
Please help I don't know what to do. I what my lovely colour back. Can I use another brand so soon after using your product?
New and Improved it is not! Have used the medium golden brown for years and have been very happy with it and have gotten many compliments. The new medium golden brown has turned my roots and hairline a coppery color with no golden color at all. It has also given my hair a very dull look and no built in highlights. Why would I buy a hair color that is advertised as a medium golden brown color when it is actually a medium brown copper! The smell is nauseating and stays in your hair for weeks! I absolutely hate the new and not improved colors.
I have just used colour SB2 ... Summer blonde ...more like dowdy grey. For many years I have used colour 101 which has always received good comments. Then 101 was changed to 9.5A then to 10A ... is someone trying to use up all the numbers and letters in the alphabet to confuse customers? It is more easier to pour a bottle of liquid into another bottle of liquid other than squeezing a tube of cream into a bottle (who the hell thought that up?) I am sitting here with an itchy scalp and puffy face and grey hair. Unfortunately I thought the Summer blonde would be an improvement to the last 10A concoction. I would please like to personally complain to a person at Clairol...please advise and listen to your customers!
These comments could be me I am in my sixties, have used Clairol for donkeys years, always good until now. Last three colours were awful. The first was bright orange when it should have been golden auburn, the second and third did not colour much at all especially grey hair and hair was left brittle and like straw. Please go back to the old formula. I am at my wits end as my colour does not always appear in other products, but I certainly will have another look. I asked my hairdressers advice and she says she has had other complaints from her other customers. Why did you have to change? I had to have a lot of hair cut off it was in such bad condition, how can this be a good substitute?
I too have been using nice 'n easy for many years. The new formula, I used it three times, left my hair straw like. I've had to cut it short. My hairdressers said it would take two years to get it all out just with trims. I have got no where with Clairol and their insurance company Chubbs, completely dismissing me.
I have used clarol nice n easy dark brown for about 10 years and always liked it, but now you have so called improved it my hair has turned black and I absolutely hate it I can’t understand why you would want to change a product when there was nothing wrong with it in the first place I am very disappointed and will not be buying this product again,

I have been using your Nice n Easy Natural Dark Brown #120 for 6 years and have loved it. Three weeks ago I bought a box of your "New and Improved" box and although you have changed packaging before, you haven't changed your product. I was getting ready for my 30 year college reunion and dyed it 2 weeks before the event. Well, what a mistake! The new product didn't mix well, stained my scalp, neck and face, and didn't dye my hair evenly! My hair that has always been a very lovely dark brown came out jet black! It looked ridiculous! And worst of all...it is causing my hair to fall out! I was horrified this weekend at my reunion to have bald spots on top of my head! I was humiliated! I don't ever see myself using your product again, and you can be sure I will be using every avenue I can to tell the world what your product has done to me!
I have been using your nice 'n' easy colour for nearly 15-17years and have always loved it, always had plenty of compliments too from friends and family, however, this time I used the colour, same as I have always used 5G (previously 117). You have changed the packaging a few times but the colour has been the same. This time though, it's come out darker, a lot darker which I'm really annoyed about. Also I didn't like the cream version of it. I know you change products/ contents to improve them but unfortunately this time you've actually ruined it and my hair looks horrendous. I'm really really disappointed and will not be using your hair colour again. I'm attaching my before and after pics along with the pic of the colour I used, it's suppose to be 'medium golden brown ' but it's come out 'dark brown '. I'm not sure how I'm going to fix this now, I'm due to have a baby in the next couple of days and really thought I'll look my best for the delivery for when my friends and family visit but thanks to your colour I'll look worse than I'll look during labour. I will definitely not be recommending your product to anyone from now on but had always done previously as I loved it.
hair oily
This is now the second time I have bought nice n easy hair dye and the second time after washing hair with conditioner provided it has left my hair on top in middle with a oily patch of hair. Not sure exactly why or what has happened but I will not purchase these products again.
product failure
I've used Clairol Nice and Easy hair color to cover my gray for about 10 years. I am a brunette and if it weren't for the ever creeping grays in my hair I generally look younger than my age (46). I credit my youthful appearence to diligent diet, exercise and up until yesterday, Clairol Nice and Easy hair color. After purchasing a new box of Nice and Easy hair color at the local Superstore in Duncan BC, I went home and colored my hair in the same precise manner I've done for the last decade. The only difference as that I left the dye in about 5 minutes longer than usual, Once Id rinsed out the dye and conditioner, I blow dried my hair to view the end result. I was dismayed to find a radical difference in between my grey hair and the rest of my hair. In short, Nice and Easy failed miserably- the grey is now a pronounced red/brown color, despite leaving the colorant in my rather thin strands, an extra 5 minutes. I tried to contact Clariol online but was repeatedly directed to "404- page not found'. I suspect the box I bought may have been sitting too long on the store shelf hence a contributing factor as to why the product failed.

severe chemical burns on scalp
I bought the Clairol born blond maxi and it caused severe chemical burns all Over my scalp and scabs!!! It hurts so badly I cant stand it. I cant let anything touch It And may lose my hair when the scabs come off!!! Not to mention that my hair is orange, not blond! I want Clairol to fix this!!! No One should ever have to go through this! I'm scared and in...

When I was in the process of coloring my hair, I kept getting big drips on my shirt and sink; I finally figured out the bottle had cracked! What a mess! And after all that, it did not totally cover my greys! I am very disappointed-this product was not cheap! Also, when I tried to send a message to the company directly, It kept saying it could not direct me to their site. This is not good customer service in my book! Most sincerely, Dani McDonald
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
If you bought the product and it was leaking then the complaint should go to the store and you should return it.
If the bottle was not leaking when you bought it and it was cracked by you then it is your fault.
If you did not notice it until you started using it then you probably broken by you.
This means the title on the complaint should be your name not Clairol.
changed from semi-permanent to permanent dye without drawing consumers attention to it
I have been using Natural Instincts hair color for several years and have been happy with the results. I even recommended it to a woman who was in the store with me the last time I bought it. I read on line that they changed their formula about a year ago. I went ahead and used the color (fiery cinnamon) I had recently bought since I have had no bad experiences with the company, and then noticed on the box that it said "permanent" instead of "semi-permanent" which I thought was the only way Natural Instincts came (thus, the name "natural"). The reason I buy it is because it is healthier for my hair than a permanent color. I could tell that it smelled more strongly of chemicals too. And it got me to wondering - I had some residual color on my ends that was making them look unhealthy that my stylist noticed the last time I got my hair cut. I thought it was odd because it had been a few months since I had colored, and I only use Natural Instincts, so it should have been all washed out by then. I wonder if the last time I colored, it was with a permanent color instead of semi-permanent. So, so far I am happy with my color, but I would not have chosen this brand if I had realized that it was permanent. I feel a bit betrayed by a company who I had just recently stood up for. If they are going to change their formula and start making a permanent dye under the same name that I thought was synonymous with semi-permanent, they need to make a big deal of it on the box, so us loyal consumers know that we aren't buying the same thing anymore.

i used the nice'n easy haire die natural extra light blonde. i am natural blond but sometimes my roots get darker than the other parts of my hair... when i finished coloring my hair after the walsh i seen that my hair was orange i was very upset i had to go to a salon to get my hair fixed so instead of saving i spent its the worst hair die i found.
messy product that stained my new bathroom tiles
This product is HORRIBLE. The colour mixture comes out of the bottle like water and spilled all over my new sink and splashed into my walls tiles, leaving big brown streaks that I don't know if I can remove. Also the 'easy squeeze' foam bottle is hard work and so very backwards in this day and age. I don't know what Clairol think they've achieved with this new product, but I was completely disappointed and will NEVER buy this product again. And I just hope I can get the brown streaks off my bathroom tiles. I have been dying my hair for over 30 years and this is THE WORST hair dye product I have ever used.
Just awful... don't buy it!
This is a DREADFUL hair colour product. I've been dying my hair for nearly 30 years and this is THE WORST experience I have ever had. The No.1 step (the colour, which I use dark brown) gushed out of the bottle and went everywhere, staining my new bathroom wall tiles, floor and skirting boards. Then I tried to get the FOAM out of the bottle and it was nothing short of hard work! It was difficult to apply and smelled horrible ... my whole place smells of the stuff! It was sticky and yukky and I hated the whole process. And my hair went almost black and with a 'FLAT' finish..no shine what so ever. Plus the product stained my skin and will NOT wash off. So I have a bathroom that is now ruined, and a very, very disappointing result for my hair. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT... it is not worth the money and is messy. I can't believe that in this day and age of new technology etc. that Clairol have produced something that seems out of the 1950s. VERY disappointed and really, really angry at the state of my bathroom after using this horrible product...
unpredictable results and clairol doesn't rectify damage
CAREFUL the new foam is UNPREDICTABLE & Clairol does not stand behind their product! In fact I doubt that they even tested the product sufficiently before bringing it to market. I have been coloring my hair for years and years using a competitor's product and have never had any problems. This morning I used Nice'n Easy foam 5rb (medium reddish brown) and after 22 minutes my hair was pitch black! I called the customer service line and the only solution that they offered was to strip the color from my hair and then re-color with another nice'n easy product. When I told the rep that I was afraid to use 2 more processes on recently colored hair (I figure this would damange my hair and even perhaps make it fall out of my head!)- he told me that perhaps I should go to a hair salon to have it done - at my expense of cause! I find it amazing that even in these tough economic times a company with a consumer name an repretation of Clairol would basically tell their unsuspecting customers that even though (through no fault of the customer) their product worked in a awful and unexpected manner- The CUSTOMER IS ON THEIR OWN. CLAIROL WILL NOT DO ONE THING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION THAT THEY CAUSED.
wrong color in package
I have used Clairol Natural Instincts Brass Free Brunettes for awhile and bought a box which now contained a 2-week color revitalizer. After 2 weeks I used it and it turned by hair carrot orange and fried it—literally. I called their customer service and the first operator told me there had been some issues with them going in wrong boxes. She put me through to another rep aand she told me to go to a salon and she sent me forms to send the receipt (which was only $47 I might add). Since then, I've accrued over $100 additional charges just having deep conditioning treatments to try to restore my hair. Well, here it is 3+ months later and I've yet to receive my $47 check. I called and they claim to have mailed it in June, however I've received nothing and when I told them that, they said it would take 4-6 weeks to reissue. I am at the point where a lawsuit is in order.
Hi, and thank you for the follow up. I'm glad Clairol came through as I have been a long-time fan/user of your products and am thankful I have incentive to continue. Thanks for taking the time to discuss it with me.
Actually, the regular color bottle itself was right. They put in a "bonus" of a new "color revitalizer" and the instructions say to use it after 2 weeks. It also said the color in that tube wasn't indicative of the resultant color. And yes, while $47 isn't worth a lawsuit, there is the principle involved that they shipped out packages with wrong color revitalizers in them and their instructions led customers to believe they should be used. I think a company needs to be held responsible for their products. I trusted them and it has ruined the condition of my hair, just by following their instructions.
Hi I wanted to make a complaint abt nice n easy medium golden brown 5G clairol it’s saying medium golden brown on the box when I dyed my hair it’s gave a a black shade colour not the colour I wanted was disappointed I think it’s the wrong colour in the box I wanted a refund not good it was on offer two for £10 in tesco I’ll used one got one left how do I get a refund on the one I used
Hi Tami. I’m glad we were able to connect with you earlier today and resolve this lingering issue. I’m so sorry it’s taken so long, and we hope we’ve been able to regain your trust. We truly value you and apologize for the experience you had with the Natural Instincts refresher, and we thank you for giving us a chance to make it up to you!
Is $47 really worth a lawsuit? Did you look at the bottle when you took it out of the box? That might have been a clue it was the wrong color. I quit buying OTC dyes a long time ago and now have my hair professionally done. Costs about the same as those boxes because it takes at least 3 to completely cover my hair. Just write it off as a lesson and find a good hairdresser.
nice'n easy
I've just been reading an earlier complaint about a similar product to the one I'm writing about: Clairol nice'n easy Foam, Colour 5A (medium ash brown). Like the previous writer, I have been using this product in its previous form (shampoo, not foam) and the colour was as described. This time (first time I've used the foam) the same colour came out pitch...

I have used Clairol Nice and Easy Light Ash Blonde 102 for approximately 3/4 years. I have tried many of the blone ones in this range and many other hair dyes (Wella, Loreal, Garnier etc) and found Clairol 102 to be the best as it took out the reds in my hair. My hairdresser even commented on how natural it looks.
The packaging was changed a few weeks ago and I was aprehensive to use it but the website insisted it was just the box that had changed. I did as I always do, the same routine I have done every 8 weeks or so for 3/4 years (My hair has never been damaged by constant colouring either) and when my hair was dried it had a very obvious red tint to it.
Everyone has commented that my hair is looking ginger/red and i find this very upsetting as i now have to find a new hair dye and spend even more money at the hairdressers correcting it - the whole point of the self dye is to save money.
I am upset about the fact that they can just change something, probably because they have found a cheaper ingredient. They obviously wont change back to the original 102 colourings so can anyone suggest a new one or at least where i can get a stock of the old one?
i just bought born blonde for blonde to black maxi blonde it did nothing but turn my hair red roots are blonde but rest is dark red... is there anything i can do to fix this awful mess! i want blonde hair not this red color it is just horible i have to wear a beenie cap to cover it up... product is not good .. its misleading. very misleading. now i got to spend more money to fix this mess it made.. have never been mislead before to this extreeme. its just horrible i stand to even loook aty it and i dont want anyone to look at it either.
very upset lynn
I've used Torrids for years! Platinum Lightening. A "this is equal to that" was given, but I don't see ANY silver within the color suggested. In fact, I see NO silver colors within your list of toners. Silver hair is very popular now days, so my suggestion is that you get with the program. I'm switching to a different brand.
Hi. I was reading through the messages on the board and came across your post. I work for Clairol and am sorry to hear you’re upset with your color after using Nice ‘n Easy Light Ash Blonde. mis-leading customers
I believe their website is inaccurate and/or misleading. Recently I had purchased and used Clairol Natural Instincts Creme Color and was unhappy with the results of it washing out/fading in a matter of 3-4 days from applying it. So I called the company's number and was told that the hair dye I had purchased and used does not qualify for the "satisfaction...

I have expeience a severe allery to semi permanent hair color. by this company. My face is swollen to the max. i can't leave my home for severe days. It itches and pus comes from the scalp. It's very painful. I can't sleep at night. I want to sue this company but don't know where to begin. It has to be something they are putting in the product and we as the consumers are not aware. I look like the elephant woman. I only used a small amount. I had a job interview this week too.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Sadly I have tried to find a complaints department for Proctor & Gamble, Clairol hair products. NONE found. therefor, I have had to use this site to complain, something I seldom do. I used Nice'n Easy for several years, many diferent shades in the early days and for the last 10 years all shades of blonde. I use only Nice'n Easy every six weeks as I do not like the dark roots showing. Always been very happy with the results. My natural colour is MOUSE.
4 weeks ago I used Shade 104 for a change. The dye burnt my head and I ended up with scabs on my scalp. OK after treatment m y scalp is recovering. Please could someone tell me why this has happened.
I am concerned that I will have the same problem again. I have the
box & bottles from the product I purchased and would like to know how I can return them to clairol for tests.
Doreen
i used a black permanent dye, the same brand and colour i have used many times before and AFTER 48hrs i developed a severe reaction. its been 2 weeks now and i have only left my home to get anti-histimine injections, steroid injections, anti-histimine pills, steroid creams, antibiotics.as it was after the recommended time for skin allergy test i asked my doctor if anything else could be responsible?, he told me it was definatley the colour because of where the severest of the rash is, eg head, ears, neck etc. I am in agony and severly uncomfortable but at least i can see now. big companies will always get away with anything.
If you are the only person this has happened to, then this is YOUR problem, not theirs. Try to sue, but I guarantee you will be wasting your time.
