bad attitude, dishonesty, unidentified staff
On 24/3/2016 at around 14:00 I went to edgars birch acres mall to submit a cellphone claim, while buzy with my claim I was approached by the security guard with no name tag.he told me that my son was playing with a toy and trying to pull it out of the box.he ordered me to pay for the toy.on inspection of the box and the toy I found out that the box was still intact and there was no damage whatsoever. I told the guard that I won't pay for the toy, because I was not there to buy toys.he started screaming and shouting at me in full view of other customers, telling me that I was an unresposible mother and I should never set foot in the store again. I asked the lady(tesia) at the cellphone counter to tell me the name of the guard but she refused to tell me and offered to take me to the manager's office.while waiting for the manager I asked the lady at till for the name of the guard and she refused to tell me, then I asked for her name because she was not wearing a name tag and she refused to tell. The other lady who worked at the cellphone counter wearing a cellc shirt passed and I asked her too to give me the name of the guard, she too refused to tell and I asked her too what her name was because she had no name tag and she said her name was "CELLC" .the manager (Khumo)came and I told her what happened .the security guard was called (now identified as Richard) he also gave his side of the story while continuing to shout at me infront of the manager.the manager called her supervisor Mr Pine Nemakonde to intervene, he heard my side of the story at that of Richard over the phone .He was ordered/told to apologise, which he did but the apology was not sincere at all according to me.I also told Mr Nemakonde about the attitude of staff and unidentified staff .he asked to speak with the manager and the manager lied infront of me and told him the staff were all wearing name tags.i have been a loyal customer of edgars for the passed 9 years and never came across such behaviour, disrespect, dishonesty.
poor service
I went into edgars today to make enquiries...1st enquiry is that I am apart of edgars club for a year and have never received any vouchers or any benefits...I spoke to Sharon who called their head office...but no one was able to give me answers...spoke to brunei! Then eventually we got some lady whom i did not get her name as she persistently said her name fast and spoke softly when i asked her to say it clearly... but in short, she was very frank in saying that she was not sure why I was not sent any of my vouchers or magazines and i should have reported it...she was couldn't care any less if I was disadvantaged! She offered NO explaination and did not even apologise when I expressed my disappointment and anger!so basically I paid 50+rands a month since last year January for nothing! 2nd enquiry...saw a phone on their advertising tv in the shop but everyone is clueless on how to get this phone...and when I say everyone, I mean even the manager who was helpful but clueless!How can edgars advertise an item in the shop...and when I ask about it, they give me answers like they don't know about it and the marketing office is closed and the cellphone manager might know about it but he is not around?Surely both my complaints are unethical...

Please note last year for the entire year i went literally every 2 months to Edgars Vangate Mall - Cape Town Western Cape and purchased your special 2 x Kelso Jeans for under R300.00.
Have been so disappointed because I am a regular client have been for as long as i can remember and now stopped shopping at all your stores due to the fact that those jeans and i bought 10 for 2015 alone only lasted me +- 6 - 8 weeks braking inbetween the legs every time the same thing and every time i just go and buy and replace it.
I personally went to the mall and same branch on more than one occasion and was advised because i through my slips away irrespective me taking the goods to the store to show then they cannot replace or even give me a voucher in order for me to get reimbursed in any which way.

I have been a loyal customer of your stores for the past 7 years, I have never being so humiliated. I was waiting for the Cashier to finish with other customer on the Jewellery side, "The Store Manager Simphiwe Mahlangu approached me, asking if am I selling to store customers ? I said no. He then asked me to go out of his store, I refused told him I am not done with my shopping. He called security and left me with them, I left them there telling them I am going to him. I found him on Customer service side. I asked him where is the footage of me talking to that customer, he replied he does not have but he want me Not coming to his store any more, I responded I will be back cause I am a customer. He asked if I am back I must call him so he can Kick my *** out, I said fine . I would like steps this matter taken to the high Management of Edcon. on the 13/01/2016 at 14:12 spoke to Thembakanzi Joza and requested her superior. I spoke to Ilse the Manger in the Call Centre, who promise a conference
call with the Regional Manager, waited nothing happened.
Call on the 25-01-2016 Spoke to Dimakatso at 15:08 "She advised that the query state that I was planning to rob the store according to the Store Manager of Edgars "she put the call on holder for 33 minutes, after resuming the call on hold I requested to speak to Ilse the manager of the call center. I was advised that she is going to call me back but till today nothing is happening. I would like my query to be send to the Regional Department. Early January I was Called by Charles Store Manager at Edgars Four-ways posing as a High management member. I called the number he phoned with, "He advised that the query was handed over to Richard the Regional Manager. No feed back till today.
I feel Edgars Management does not care about customer treatment at their store
poor service
I bought a Blackberry last year on 04 March 2015. I had it for approximately 4 months and it started giving me problems, I then returned it to the store as it was still under warranty and after a ridiculous time of 8 weeks, i got the phone back and it was not fixed at all, still kept resetting and the memory card slot also wasn't working. I then took it back where it took another 4 weeks for repairs and it cam back just as it was BROKEN! I then returned it and i was promised a credit not which i still have not received up till today. The company employees do not bother to call me and inform me about the status of my phone and they just keep shifting the blame. I just wish to be assisted as soon as possible because i really feel that the amount i spent on the phone is a bit too much to just ignore as i myself am still a student, and to go to them every time to find out about it is really wasting time and money because at the end of the day there is no progress
I bought a fone at ladysmith jetmart today and dey only cell fone to me without testing it I ask them about rica dey said sim is olready ricad I was just like ok den when I arived home no simcard inside the fone and its also not ricad. And worse they took a display fone without notifyng me I dnt know how u treat costomers bt I was real sad

I am exhausted with trying to get my refund from Edgars. My account was paid off and closed but then i realised that there was an overpayment of R499.62. i was told i needed to write a letter, attach my ID and proof of bank account, which i did TWO MONTHS AGO. i keep calling Edgars, spending so much money calling and holding and with every call i get sent fro pillar to post. Either no one had uploaded my documents on the system or they have not been received. I have literally faxed and email more than ten times and still no help whatsoever from edgars.I am sick of this bad service and all i want is my money back and never have to see any Edcom affiliated store in my life. What will it take to get that. Im really exhausted with such bad service.

I went to Edgars on Sat 23 Jan and went to the Estee Lauder counter wanting to buy a product (expensive might I add) and was helped by a consultant. As I was talking to her, another customer came to the counter and started talking the consultant that was busy helping me. The consultant literally just turned around and walked away, helping the other customer. After waiting a while I walked away as my money was obviously not good enough. Two days later I went back for clothes, after finding the items I really wanted, I made my way to the tills area. On my way I was confronted by, what looked like, a manager. She rudely asked if I knew the store was closed. When nearing the tills, I was informed they are closed and have cashed up and can't process any more sales. At no point was I ever informed that the tills were closed and I would need to abandon my items and leave empty handed. Time after time I receive pathetic service from this store and it makes me wonder why on earth I would want an account with them. Doubt if I will ever go there again as this bad attitude seems like a culture in the store.
changing of account payment period & issuing of vip club card
I am an Edgar's account holder for the past 20+ years & very disappointed on service from Jeffery's Bay branch. My reasons as follows: Received many phone calls / emails inviting me to purchase & I was granted VIP club member status on 2015. When attempting to collect my VIP club card from the Jeffery's Bay branch the Manager informed me that card stock is not available and waiting on stock (19 January 2016). Manager was very abrupt & lacking customer care as my request to enquire about availability of cards was ignored and had something to say on all my request, willingness to assist was non-existent. I also asked that my 12-month balance reduction be reduced to 6 months as before and this was refused by head office person who I have spoken to and the answer was that only new customers get this option. When I replied that I will pay-up my account and close the account it was acceptable to the person I spoke to and this is the route I am considering to follow. i bought a pair of Diesel sneakers last month and in just 3 weeks the stitches on the sneakers were coming off, i returned the shoes in their original box but i had not slip they refused to exchange the sneakers for and told me that it was not their fault that i lost the slip. I spend R2399 on those sneakers because i thought they will last me longer since they claim that those shoes are of good quality no one told me that good quality only meant 1 month worth of quality i;m very angry because i worked hard for that money just to waist it on some worthless pair of sneakers

On the 5th of December 2015, I went to Edgars The Grove to settle and close my account. I was told by the cashier that the total amount I had to pay for closing the account was R8 992. I paid the amount, only to realize later that I have overpaid by R1 500. I went back to the store on Monday the 7th and a lady at customer service confirmed that I had indeed overpaid. She called the credit department to enquire about how to refund me. At the time, my payment did not reflect on their side. I was told to wait for 48 hours, then come back again. I went back on Friday the 11th. Then I was told that I have to write a letter request the refund, attach a one month bank statement and a copy of my ID, and my refund will be paid within 21 working days. That is totally absurd. I refused to go through that process and I refuse today still. The refund policy is absurd and punitive to consumers. It must be reviewed. If it means taking the matter to court, let it be.

I had an edgars account that was in arrears due to financial issues. Made arrangements for R 100 pm payments but kept receiving "threatening" phone calls at all hour of the day so I blocked the number and continued paying arrears and received my monthly statements via email. Settled account and have since received statements showing my available credit as well as my thank U rewards accumulated. Tried booking a flight through mango today and card could not be verified. Spoken to Edgars, my account has been blocked due to me taking 9 months to settle account. Block can not be removed at all NO COMMUNICATION whatsoever regarding this AND statement showing AVAIABLE CREDIT. Lerato Madwane (manager at call centre) adamant that I have received communication and can see to the day when my account was opened BUT has to investigate when and how I received letter about block? I have been a loyal client since 1992! EDGARS FIX THIS!
disrespectful rude behavior from manageress
I was on the 14 Dec in Edgars Cavendish Square store, witness the most rude behavior from a store Manageress (Nawaal ) with sales assistant. Edgars please train your people on Senior Levels respect, people skills, HR and most of all about customer services. This Manageress Nawaal call this very hardworking sales assistant away from a customer to put her empty bottle in this beautiful friendly assistant hands and started grilling this girl in-front of customers and other staff members, Edgars Cavendish Square you will never see me again as my young kids witness this, and a lot of others its disgusting. To that Nawaal lady if you can`t handle the pressure of your job, maybe you should move out of Retail, as I am a Managers myself for more than 15 years colored myself and never treated anyone like you did, shame on you and by the way was my kids not with I would really have smacked you. To the brave sales assistant who did not even got a chance to say anything quit, I will take you on to our company where we respect our staff members. PS you can take this matter further. I being a loyal card holder for many years I think this is my Que to close my account, as I can`t allow my kids see this behavior and thinking it must be like that. I sincerely feel that this Nawaal character is a bully and Harassing staff due to her Senior position. Remember we all have to crawl before we walk, and if we don`t appreciate we crawl again.
submitted a claim for my cell phone
I recently lost my phone and firstly called the Hollard insurance to find out what the procedure was for submitting a claim. Spoke to a very friendly representative that told me that i need to get a ITC reference number and an affidavit when submitting a claim and i can take to any Edgars Cellphone kiosk. On Thursday i got all my documents in order and took it into the Edgars Canal Walk Cellphone shop/kiosk. I was politely helped with one of the employees. He looked at the documents and told me that you have everything in order but he cannot submit it know but he will give me a call tomorrow the 11/12/2015 which did not happened and i then called and spoke to a Laika and she advised that i need to come in on Saturday to fill in the documents for the claim. My question here is why was i not advised to fill in the documents on the first day. I then advised her i will come through the Saturday to complete the documents. I then arrived the Saturday to find out they could not find any of the documents that i submitted the Thursday evening filled in the claim form but was now advised that i need a case number from the police. Advised that i need to come in tomorrow 13/12/2015. 1. the call centre representative did not advise any of this in the beginning. 2. the Edgars representative also did no advise this. Went there the Sunday morning and they then could not find any of the documents and the manager on duty advised i need to resubmit all the documents and they will take it from there and they just sorry. I noticed that they are totally unorganised and have no respect/helpful in any demand. Highly disappointed as i also in noticed that client asked someone for assistance in the cellphone department and the client was told that "he cannot assist the client because he works in the cellphone department". This 3 days costed me R200 worth of petrol for people that dont have a clue of what they doing. Goody I went to the store purchase the promotion that was advertised from Edgar's for the Guess buy one get one free promo and was told by the lady that I cant purchase it as they are having a system issue as it does not scan the promo. I then left the store went back to the office called another branch and said that it they have to assist me.Went back to the store and spoke to Senzo the manager and he also verified that they cannot sell it as it is and issue on the system and they have escalated it with there office.I am a customer and was turned away again I have given my number to him and set my jeans aside on the shelf but was told I cant purchase it 12/12/15 till the system is fixed and the promo ends on Sunday 13/12/15.What an experience this has been to go shopping.Edgar's disgusted.I then called the complaint line and spoke to Prenal and she confirmed that they should have given me the product but I was turned away twice from the store all I have is a ref no :[protected]/go and was told that they will contact me.Are the managers not trained on these procedures unacceptable. i'm currently an edgars casual employee started on the 9th of november for a 3 month contract, there is one floor manager who got bad attitude and abusing workers verbally and emotionally, shes one of the worst manager i have ever sen she doest'n have skills she bully workers by threatening to fire them.i also the victim of her i'm even scared to go to work after she chased me like a dog on the 10 0f december 2015. she said i must go shell call me to come to work if she want, and my contract stated that i'll work 5 days 8 hours but she doesn't schedule me for above 3 days.my employee number is 2296779 and the name the the floor manager is Ann.if is possible i would like to be transfer to another edgars store.

I received an SMS on Thursday 10 December 2015 at 10:27 - 'Christmas comes early with Jeep & Edgars. Prices reduced by up to 30% on all Jeep menswear clothing @ Edgars. Spoil yourself or your Jeep man! ' I went into Edgars Menlyn on Thursday 10 December at 11:50 only to be told that their store knew nothing about this! I had an account in arrears with Edgars. A lady, consultant, called and asked me to settle the account. She asked me to pay a R1000, and the rest will be cleared as bad. On 8/12/[protected] 6104i payed R2700 at jet stores then when I went to make a purchase today 9/12/2015 I was told that I needed to pay R1600 and something and the end balance on my receipt did not correspond with the one on the computer screen at Edgar's stores and I am very confused because the previous day at jet I specifically asked the lady the till namely Asanda Rwala if I had any credit on my card and she told me yes and said it was R9000 something and I was very furious to only find out at the till with all the items I had choosed that I could not make the purchase because I had an out standing payment I would like somebody to call in and explain very quick and for my card to be fixed so that I can make the purchase before Friday 11/12/2015 however I do not have access to make an attachment but the cashier at Edgar's sent the copy of my receipt to someone at the head office it was sent to an email address of somebody who goes by the surname of Zondo I would really appreciate if you call me be as soon as you read my complaint

By die afdeling waar jy staan om goed om te ruil of terug te vat het 'n hele paar mense gestaan. Die personeel van Edgars daar agter die toonbank was net een persoon wat besig was om van die Edgars personeel wat iets omgeruil het te help. Die ander agter die toonbank het net heen en weer geloop en met mekaar gesels terwyl ons almal gewag het dat nog iemand 'n "kassiere/toonbank" sal oopmaak en help. So het dit seker vir 30 minute aangegaan. Almal in die ry het ongeduldig geraak maar nog steeds is ons net ge-ignoreer. Ek was tweede in die ry van voor af en net toe ek wil bel om met die Bestuurder te praat of te laat roep, toe kon ek na vore gaan om klere om te ruil/terug te gee. By hierdie tak spesifiek gebeur dit ongelooflik baie en dink ek net ek persoonlik het genoeg gehad. Baie van die mense in die tou het gese daar moet regtig iets aan gedoen word want dit gebeur elke keer. Graag wens ek u net te versoek om dringend aandag aan die verband te gee. Ons almal is net doodgewone mense en vra net vriendelikheid en behulpsaamheid. Baie dankie...

I receive daily calls from a number. I googled and discovered it was Edgars. I don't answer calls from unknown numbers and am not interested in anything being sold. My account is up to date but should these daily calls continue I will cancel my account. I was forced to submit a complaint. Several calls a day is ridiculous.
