My name is Marquese Lewis. I recently traveled business class on Ethiopian Airlines on May 30th 2023 and had several very UNPLEASANT experiences. The most concerning and notable of which was my baggage delay.

On May 30th my baggage was left in Addis Ababa and did not arrive with me to my destination in Windhoek and I did not receive it until June 2nd. (It was delivered June 1st but I was not there to sign for it so someone else signed on my behalf). The baggage itself arrived damaged and I was not given ANY compensation or even an overnight bag for this 3-day delay, despite being a business class passenger. According to Ethiopian Airlines policy I should have received a hygiene kit and an incidental payment of $100 as a business class customer.

I had to purchase clothing and hygiene items on my own to cover these three days without my items.

I attempted to resolve this issue at Windhoek airport prior to my departure, however your staff apparently leaves around 2pm each day. I have since returned to the United States and although I have received my bag, the issue of compensation remains unresolved.

For the last 2 months I have attempted to work with Ethiopian airlines to resolve this issue to no avail.

This airline is horrible and needs to be shut down.

I had booked ticket thru Ethiopian airline connecting with Turkish airline from Mombasa to Birmingham.

We had lost one of our baggage and till now we are not getting proper response.The issue that I have experienced was: We booked our flight from Mombasa to Birmingham ..it's a two stop flight from Mombasa to adis ababa through Ethiopian airlines and adis ababa to istanbul and istanbul to Birmingham through Turkish airlines.. we booked total 9 baggage to Ethiopian airlines paying 225$ extra for one extra baggage..on Mombasa airport Ethiopian airline assured us that all baggage will be received in Birmingham airport.

Now on landing we received no baggage .. On Complaining at airport they filed the complaint and said our baggage is delayed but wl be sent to us as received... The next day we received the baggage but only 8 baggage instead of 9... Sinc then we are keep on complaining regarding our missing baggage which was both of airlines responsibility.. and when we called Ethiopian airlines they simply said Turkish airlines hold the responsibility... But we gave the baggage to Ethiopian airlines ..we paid for extra baggage to Ethiopian airlines. So now how can Ethiopian airlines relieved from responsibility..it's been 18 days we haven't received any response from any airlines...

My bag is full of clothes i.e 23 kg of bag having clothes ..all expensive indian clothes, western clothes.

I can't list out the no. i can just tell 23 kg full of clothes...i am in new country with no clothes ..as the main bag is missed..

THE BAG HAS 4-5 BEDSHEETS COSTING 12 POUNDS EACH..REST OF THE CLOTHINGS ARE THERE ..FEW JEANS, TOPS,DRESSES,AND FEW INDIAN CLOTHES. COSTING OF EACH IS DIFFICULT TO TELL AS EXACTDRESS IS NOT BEING REMEMBERED..BUT THERE IS MAROON DRESS IN BAG ON TOP..COSTING 9 POUND.RESTS ARE SIMILIAR FROM 5-6 POND TO 25 POUND.

I am writing to ask about my baggage that was lost or didn't arrive with me when l travelled with your flight on the 02nd of February. l arrived from BUQ (Bulawayo) Zimbabwe to Addis Ababa to Thailand Bangkok last week on Saturday the 4th of February and my bag didn't arrive with me and l was told the bag would be delivered to me at home. l reported that my bag was missing and l was told my bags will be delivered to my house and l still haven't got anything yet. l haven't received my bag yet and l haven't received any correspondence in regards to my bag. Please advise me what l should do about my bag as it's been over a week ago and no information has been given to me about the where abouts of my bag. The missing bag has sentimental things in it and l need it back please. The things in the bag are worth a lot to me.

I booked a flight from Seychelles to South Africa with return. On my return trip I fell ill and had to be hospitalised on day of departure. I requested a flight exchange and Ethiopia airlines wants to charge me USD 250 plus price difference in flights. This amounted to a price for a new ticket. This was a medical emergency out of anyone's control. I do not wish to ever use Ethiopia airlines anymore as they have no regard for the customers need. I want a refund and they have blatantly ignored me

Four of use travelled with Ethiopian Airline flight ET509 on 2/17/2023 from Newark, USA to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Each one of us had 1 luggage, in total 4 luggage.

Upon arrival at Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania we found that one of our luggage with tag# ET243482 was not there, Immediately a claim was filed at the airport for the luggage.

The luggage arrived next day and we received it.

When we visited Ethiopian Airline office in Dar Es Salaam, to file and claim for luggage delayed compensation, the airline staff replied "sorry we can't help".

Flight no et644 ADD to MNL 23:25 22nd Feb 2023.

Arrived at gate A6 with a boarding pass showing my seat as 37j.

I was 1 of the last to board and noticed a couple loitering at the desk.

The ground staff asked me to wait and went away with my pass.

Returned 1 minute later with a pleasant smile and wished me a pleasant flight. But as I approached the aircraft door I glanced at my ticket and the seat number had changed to 22b - not the seat I had reserved.

Informed the aircrew who tried to usher me to 22b. I complained this was not the correct seat and was shown to the empty row and my seat 37j.

Sat down and who should appear but the loitering couple demanding I vacate the seat.

An argument ensued with the flight crew watching on.

Ethiopian Airlines - why did you deceitfully change my seat number on my boarding pass at the departure gate - minutes before take off?

I recently travelled back on 27th January 2023 on an Ethiopian airline ET601 from Dubai to Malawi, Upon arrival in my country I noticed that my checked in baggage was subjected to security check up and some of the items were removed. To my surprised I had about 50 new phones in its original package and they removed 39 of them.

When I returned on the 20th of February 2023 to the security office at the airport to reclaim of my belonging I was denied.

I officially wrote an email to the respective office and below is the response.

Dear Customer,

We regret the experience taken away by you while traveling through Dubai Airports and we thank you for bringing this incident to our attention.

As per the security rules and procedures, all checked-in bags that are passing through Dubai Airport, are subjected to screening and inspection.

Some bags are selected and opened for physical inspection by the security staff.

During the inspection, the security officer will search the bags and their contents for any prohibited items.

Upon completion of the inspection process, the prohibited items will be removed, and the other contents will be returned to the bag. If your bag was locked, unfortunately, the security officer will be forced to break the locks in order to search the bag. You will find a “Baggage Inspection Notice” issued by the security department inside your luggage if your bag was subjected to a physical check process conducted by security officers. Please note that the confiscated items are non-recoverable.

Whilst we understand the inconveniences this incident may have caused you, kindly note that it is important to adhere to security protocols and standards to ensure the safety of airport users.

To avoid similar inconveniences, please check with the respective airline for items that are prohibited from being carried in checked baggage prior to the flight. Airlines usually provide details of prohibited items to their passengers.

Hope this clarifies your concerns, and wish you will experience better service the next time you travel through our airports.

On April 7, 2020, I was to return from Zimbabwe to the US on ethiopian airlines ET 0863, aircraft Boeing 787-8 Jet. The pandemic occurred, the flight was cancelled and I began a refund request.

Since 2020, I've communicated with numerous agents, via phone and emails, who, repeatedly passed my case on to the next agent. I was advised on several occassions; email Nov 24, 2021and Sept, 24, 2021 that my refund of $789.85/US, would be refunded into my account within 2 or 3 weeks and 15 working days respectively.

My last communication with reservationist agent, I requested upper level management intervention. I was told it would be taken care of. To date I have not received any response from ethiopian airlines...today's date January 27,2027.

I returned to Chicago O'Hare airport on Ethiopian flight # UA 2677 from Seychelles Africa via Ethiopia and Dublin Ireland Dec 23rd. A valuable fishing rod case filled with my fishing equipment was not at the bagge claim and was lost! I filled out the proper form and was told I would be called.

Someone from the O'Hara airport office called December 24th and said it had been found and would be delivered and I would be contacted with a delivery date. After Christmas, I was forced to call again and was notified that I had to come get it. I informed the person that not only was my vehicle down and there was no one else, I lived 1.5 hours away from the airport and I had covid! I also indicated that per the airline's own policy that it would be delivered or mailed. she agreed to the latter. traveling from Washington (the first leg from Chicago there was no charge?) but on the second leg (from Washington Dulles to Ethiopia) I was forced to pay $100.00 because of its size/shape (round tube around 6 feet tall). I researched before the trip and called to verify that I would not be charged. the same on the way back (both times I was forced, despite arriving first in the line to wait an hour to verify and even settle on a price) I overlooked that one of my rods was damaged upon arriving in Seychelles which is an incredible feat. The container is hard thick plastic. I am now being told that despite paying extra, I need to lose more time and money.

As of today not only have I not received my equipment and the numbers are also no longer answered and the VM is always full. I have tried the website, the Ap and have made several calls and emails. no one response or makes any efforts to contact me. I am at a loss

Dear Sir/ Madam

I travelled from Beira on 24th Dec 2022 to Adis Ababa. From Adis Ababa to Delhi. From Delhi it was Air India. These Airlines are members of Star Alliance Group. At Beira I specifically asked the customer representative whether my baggage can be sent directly to Pune. To which I was assured that it will be transferred. I only had to collect my boarding pass from Delhi.

With this understanding I started my journey. Once I reached Delhi, I did not go to check on this as I was given an assurance on this transfer. Then someone from Ethiopian Airlines called my wife from number ([protected]) stating that the baggage was lost, and it is found now. I went to the Air India counter to find that ET 325754 is reflected as transferred on my booking on their system. I saw the number and was relaxed that my luggage has been put on my flight to Pune. When I reached Pune, I could not find my luggage. I checked with the officer concerned on this and found that on his system also this is reflecting as delivered. But when he checked the emails, they had received a message that this luggage has not been put as this did have customs clearance.

If it was not possible why I was incorrectly told that this transfer will happen?

I could have very well avoided this situation.

I have raised a complaint vide reference PNQA114801. Please look into this and help me get my luggage at the earliest. Luggage sticker and Compliant photos are attached for your reference.

Ethiopian airlines rejected the ticket refund that I requested in august 2021, because of the pandemic cancellation. They didn't respect the government rule which allows airlines to refund any ticket of the pandemic before 31 st December 2021.

I bought that ticket to travel on april 2020, but the flight was cancel because of pandemic. The airline was supposed to treat any refund ticket before 31st december 2021. I requested a refund on august 2021 and the airline rejected it.

on 09 Octber 2022 we had a trip from [censored]i HAH to JHB. We were 2 pasengers. we have been delayed o nthe chek in counter. I have been requested to assist a young boy who had to tavel for the 1st time by his parents for studies. When we went for cheki in, myself i have been asked twice what i am going to South Africa. my aswer was is for work as it is writen on the passport (diplomatic) as i am working at the Comorian in Pretoria. once again she asked me the same question and i say for work as you can see on the passport with my temporray resident permit as i am residing in Preotria ;and there was a gentleman who we think should be the manager (looks like ethiopian). did you say that you work in the Embassy of South Africa in [censored]i? I say no, i said i am working in the Embassy of Comoros in Pretoria. we were speaking in comorian. Finaly it was okay.

now the big issue was with the young boy. we had to wait for more than 1 hour. when he has to chek in i said we are traveling together they said okay. they took his passport and aked him what is the pupose of his trip. he said it is for studies. i have tried to find out why but have been inivted to have a sit a wait for him. i sat down and few minutes later he came to join me. later on a gentleman came to ask him all his papers for his school. i asked him, is there any problem with regards to his visa? he said no but we have to verify something. i say okay but why are you s*asking for all his school papers? are you the immigration service? because in my humble point of view it is up to the immgration to find out a such thing but not you as a company unless you have doubt about his visa. he said but if there is any issue the company will have a problem with the immogration service. i say okay. after long minutes of waiting, the same gentleman came to bring the passports and documents back and informed us that now we can go for check in instead to call him to go straight to the counter. again, we had to wait. when i asked to him what was the problem. He said that their manager wanted to verify his visa because he has never seen a visa on the comorian passengers to South Africa. i told him, no how come this guy is not the first passenger to travel to SA with an ordinary passport and for your information its is only the official passports that the visa are exempted..ah..yes but it is not all but the visa is also hand written. i gave him my passport and asked him to go to show to his manager and tell him that the entry and sojourn visas to South Africa are hand written, at least to date. so you wont have to waste our time for nothing.

i have been requested to do a PCR test when i went to change my date of my return in your office in [censored]i while i have informed them that i am fully vaccinated and have proof of vaccin, for example. Should i did not the regulations, I would spend money for nothing. During the 2 ways, we have been requested to fill in forms from health authorities that are no longer requested on arrival...

Tabusasa Bamunoba Charles came with the Flight ET 936 from Niamey to Addis and ET821 from Addis to Kigali with the code ET158260 for the Fragil Luggage(Smart TV) which arrived damaged.

I could not make it on the returning date because I was sick and I sent an email to my agent 24 hours before the return date after calling her, telling her about my situation and the need to change my returning ticket to a later date but she could not get another ticket. After waiting for more than three weeks I had to buy another ticket to return to America.
