Originally I chose Expediant because they were nicer on the phone and gave me a lower initial estimate than other moving companies (although it increased quite a bit once I had no option of switching companies). I was promised that they would arrive at 9:00 AM on my move date, but come move date they didn't show up until 1:00 pm. They tried to charge me for blankets, even though I'd been told blankets would be included for free. They also wanted to charge me for stairs. Their policy is that one flight of stairs is free, but more than that costs extra. I lived on the second floor, one flight up. However, they have arbitrarily defined a "flight" as 8 steps, making them say that, although I live one floor up, that's multiple flights of stairs. They finally agreed not to charge me for stairs provided I agree to generously tip them.
Their policy is that, once you ask for your stuff to be delivered, it will come within two weeks. I requested my stuff at the end of August, expecting it by mid-September. However, it didn't show up until mid-October, and only after many phone calls on my part to track it down. Every time I spoke with them they didn't know where it was (Colorado? Los Angeles? New York?), and would say things like "I don't know where the driver is. I've been calling but can't get ahold of him. Maybe you should try." They kept telling me to stop calling , that they would call me, but they never would. Once I was assured that the driver was finally coming, he still took 3 extra days beyond when he was supposed to arrive, never calling me.
The final results: I got most of my stuff, but much of it is broken, some things were mysteriously taken out of their boxes, and one box (interestingly enough, the one containing my STEREO), is missing. My stuff was extremely well-packed (by me), so clearly these movers were throwing the stuff around, probably even trying to break it.
These guys were HORRIBLE to deal with, and you should NOT choose them to move your stuff.
These guys sent three Russian movers that threatened to damage my belongings if they didn't receive adequate tips. Management didn't care and protected them. The managers ignored me. They also refused to weigh my goods but overcharged after the initial low estimate. The owner is a con-artist and a horrible person. It is amazing that these kinds of people without a shred of conscience live in this world.
Do NOT go with Expediant. I have read many other complaints against them. They will offer low prices and will be nice at first but then... SCAM!
Did you lodge complaints with DOT and BBB? If not, do so.
They were my best friends until they got my deposit. Then the rep I was dealing with was very unresponsive to the questions I had leading up to the day of the move. When the movers came, I had to pay an extra $600 than I was quoted.
On top of that throughout the entire process leading up to the move I made it clear that I needed my belongings delivered on 9/1 and they said that would be fine.
When my furniture was en route they said they would not be able to be there until 9/5 so I had to sleep on the floor for 5 days.
I was clearly misinformed by the rep and her manager basically said too bad.
Now I am getting no response regarding the claim that I filed.
This company is the worse company I have ever done business with and they are very unethical, unresponsive and have no regards for the consumer's needs.
I had very bad experience with Expediant Van Lines. I asked them to move my piano and other few household stuff. They gave me a low estimate and then refused to charge by weight. After I gave the pick-up person $100 for tips they agreed to charge me reasonable rate as I only have less than a room stuff for moving. However didn't they delivery on time plus damaged my piano, lost my daughter's wood toddler bed (how could such a big thing be lost?), both dryer and almost new washer got external damage, and more boxes were open at the time they were delivered! I followed their instruction for filing a claim but never get any response. Don't go with them. Never!
I hired these guys to do a cross country move and they were great to deal with until they got my items. They were supposed to give 24 hours notice, which I never got, and then demanded more money to redeliver. After negotiating with them, when my belongings finally arrived, some of the furniture was lost, broken, and wet! My vacuum cleaner had even been used by them. I am certain of that because I had emptied it prior to the move and when it came to my house it was full of fine gray dust. They were supposed to deliver on a certain date and were late. The manager told me he felt the driver was lying to him about where he was. After the items were delivered the driver said he was actually doing another move at the time and couldn't get back in time to deliver my goods. So I caught them in a lie.
Do not hire this company unless you want to get rid of your belongings. They really should be in the disposal service because they seem to be more adept at losing items rather than transporting them.
We contracted these movers for our daughters move from MA to CA. They arrived four hours late to start the packing process therefore we had to pack most of it ourselves. They also hit us up for a tip right away. After placing our things in storage they doubled the price of the move. Then they kept changing method of payment of cashier's check to postal money orders.
To top all of this off they charged us extra for the flights of steps which they said was included in the original price. When the items arrived, they were damaged beyond belief. Some of the damage looked deliberate. They shattered the side slats of the futon, broke the glass on the side table, bent the leg of a bistro table so it would no longer stand, took a sliver out of the coffee table, and her new vacuum arrive in several pieces. Many of the boxes looked as if a sledge hammer had been taken to them because they were taped all the way around to hold them together. There were numerous other breakages I will not go into. My daughter was devastated by the condition her things were delivered in especially since she is just starting out and these items were less than 3 years old. Their answer to our complaint was that these were normal damages incurred while moving. The offered a paltry sum as compensation. The amount will not even pay for one item to be replaced. Companies with these kind of unethical practices should not be allowed to even advertise on the internet.
Do not place any order with this company. They are cheaters. I requested quote, they gave me quote. I also requested quote for the Car Move. The lady was nice, she gave me the quote. I took that service, she asked me Credit Card info, I gave it. We came to know about the bad things they do to the stuff & the horrifying tips they ask. So we did not even placed the order. When the guy called in to ask what we have decided, I said, we are going for other movers. They said okay. Next thing I know is my Credit Card was charged for 200$.
I have been asking for money from them, they do not give it back, saying that it was the deposit I agreed to pay. I never agreed on anything like this. The person who took my Credit Card info obviously does not work anymore as per them.
I called the person Anthony who is the decision maker, he says he has my credit card info and he can charge any amount that he wishes to.
Obviously I changed my CC number. Very bad company.
Have you tried a chargeback?
They did the exact same thing to us. Had us waiting and waiting then charged us $300 extra when the truck got here and then refused to give us our belongings for the agreed upon price. Every correspondence with them has left me with a different phone number and building address. Cant really figure out where their exact location is and neither can my lawyer.
You know I was just lookin on line to find the compliant email given because I just moved into my new home out of state and my experience is horrible my stuff is brolen and fairly new and lost and damaged. i am really ready to sue them for all the damage and I feel like crying because with all that money spent I now have to replace things.
I hired moving company to move stuff down south form new york, stuff is missing in order to put stuff together you need and damged.fiarly new things damged with cracks
They tried the same stuff with me. They were refusing to return my stuff so I played hardball. Me and my company just threatened them. And then magically my stuff showed up, albeit there was some damage to a few items. I was asked to tip them, I just refused and told those idiots to take a hike. Moral of the story: be prepared to go to the mat with these ###. You cannot let them intimidate you. Just fight them and stand your ground. They will back down.
OMG - our stuff just arrived 3 HOURS ago and it took my sister and I 2 hours to bring the items in off of the street. YES, you read that correctly, we brought our own items into the house. ALl items were covered in HONEY! (where did that come from?) It started when they quoted us 1300 for the move(equivalent to a 2 bedroom apt) and upon arrival they said I needed to pay 1300.00 more. They agreed to charge the credit card for the entire move and the day prior to delivery (move was from CA to FL) they said they needed cash. The driver said to make a wire transfer to his personal account - yeah right! Items were broken, the mattress was never covered and soiled with grease, and yes, we feel like crying because of the items needing replacement. OH yeah, they lost my baby pictures, my children's baby pictures and my prior years tax returns! I have already cried over this! This is not over and yet we do not have a claim phone number..please email me the number if you have it. This service was unbelievable..Next time we will move with Suddath Van lines...and pay more!
I had the same experience. I was moving from CT to Long Island and I hired Expediant without checking the web. The only and most fatal mistake. Luckily, I didnt have too much stuff, so they couldn't damage it but I was highly overcharged and even though my company reimbursed my expenditure, I feel that the service from Expediant Van Lines is the WORST and they should actually be shut down. BEWARE of Expediant Van lines. They are a scam and thats it.
I have had the same negative experience with Expediant Van Line. The movers did not take all of the items listed on the inventory sheet provided to me by Expediant. While packing items, they broke a high quality wooden drawer. I was charged additional fee for two extra items. The movers did not provide me with the packing boxes included in the quote. I have let numerous phone calls at [protected] as well as sent numerous emails. As of today's date, Expediant Van Line has not responded. I would like to take them to Small Claims Court and or file a class action complaint against them.
I had so many issues with this company I may not have room to list them.
They didn't show up on the day they promised and I had paid the warehouse manager to come in specially on that day. I had to call them 3 times before I finally got a hold of a rep. and they said the truck was broken down, but they were working on it. It should be the next day by 1 pm. They didn't show. I called them every day that week and the response was "we are working on it. We'll let you know". After hassling them every day, I finally got them to commit- again- to showing up. When they finally arrived to pick up my stuff, 9 days after scheduled- they told me the price was going to be 800.00 higher than originally quoted and that I was mis-quoted. I could go on and on about the details...
Needless to say, they lied. Their truck wasn't "broken down"- the other load that was going on the truck canceled therefore it wasn't profitable enough for them to take my items alone, hence the raise in price. I am still trying to get my 1/2 paid up front back from them 20 days later. Bottom line- this was a horrible company to attempt to use. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND GOING THROUGH EXPEDIANT VAN LINES.
I CONTRACTED WITH EXPEDIANT AFTER CHECKING THEM OUT WITH THE BBB, I SAW NO REASON NOT TO HIRE SO I DID, I DID NOT SEE THE COMPLAINTS UNTILL WAY AFTER WHEN IT WAS TO COSTLY TO NOT USE THEM. BUY WAS I WRONG, I PACKED, WRAPPED AND SECURED ALL MY OWN STUFF AS IT WAS GOING FROM STORAGE UNIT TO STORAGE UNIT. WHEN I GOT MY STUFF THE THREE ANTIQUE NON-REPLACEABLE FURNITURE WERE BROKEN AND A DESK HAD TWO DRAWERS MISSING, I WAS ALSO MISSING A RUG. IT TOOK THREE WEEKS FOR ME TO FINALLY GET TO WHERE I COULD FILE A COMPLAINT, HOW DO YOU TELL YOUR 80 YEAR OLD FATHER THAT THE DESK HIS DAD GAVE HIM WAS DESTROYED.
This company is a total scam. They deliberately gross underestimate your costs, handle the move horribly with ### movers who damage your belongings and then refuse any claims for damages. They charged me 50% more than the estimate. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
Personally, I would never conduct business with this shady, ill-reputed company. Hopefully by placing these messages, future consumers will be warned.
I had a horrible experience with Expediant Van Lines as well. In addition to more than doubling the cost of their initial quote (from $1, 047 to $2, 850 upon arrival at my space), they also "lost" a 52" flat screen HDTV, valued at $3, 500. Finally, when I did process my claim for lost items, they offered to compensate me $72 based on the weight of the TV.
Beware of the Compensation Offer, as it states "Including in The Terms and Conditions of this Agreement are to remain confidential and no further claims, complaints, statements or other action may be taken or reported to any state, city, government, insurance, consumer group, public media organization, internet website or credit card agency" I did not accept this compensation as it it was rather ridiculous in its compensation and stipulations. I am possibly looking at further legal actions against this company.
If you want to file a complaint, you can visit www.protectyourmove.gov and register with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Also, you can file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at www.BBB.org although Expediant Van Lines already has a rating of "F"

i MADE A MOVE FROM NEW YORK TO ARIZONA, AT FIRST THEY GAVE ME ONE QUOTE BUT AS THEY WERE PACKING THE TRUCK THEY TOTALLY CHANGED THE PRICE..IT WENT UP 300 DOLLARS...SO OK THEY DELIVERED MY STUFF, AND WHEN IT ARRIVED HALF MY BOXES WERE OPEN AND FALLING APART...THEY WOULD THROW MY THINGS AS IF THEY WERE GARBAGE TO THEM...THEY HAD NO MANNERS NOTHING...AS THEY ARE BRINGING IN ALL MY THINGS I AM NOTICING THAT MY 1 YR OLDS CRIB IS MISSING SO I ASK THE GUY WHERE IT IS...AND HE SAYS "OH SORRY WE LOST IT" LOL WHAT A JOKE..HE SAID THAT THEY WOULD FIX THE SITUATION WITHIN 2 WEEKS ITS BEEN THREE MONTHS OF ME CALLING LEAVING SEVERAL MESSAGES INCLUDING EMAILS AND NOTHING...THEY DONT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT...THIS COMPANY IS HORRIFYING PLEASE DO NOT GO WITH THEM OR YOU WILL GO THROUGH HELL TRUST ME...I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE PEOPLE WERE COMPLAINING CAUSE THEY DIDNT GET THEIR WAY BUT TRUST ME THIS COMPANY IS A NIGHTMARE..I REPORTED THEM TO THE BBB...I REALLY HOPE THEY LOSE THEIR LICENCE...
I used Expedient Van Lines service this September with a move to the Las Vegas area.Thier service was horrible starting out with charging me 45% more at time of pick up when I had no time to get another moving Company. They scratched all my furniture, broke lamps, lost items and did not unpack as agreed.Their insurance covered $58.00 for over $1, 000. in damages. It took 2 months to settle and I have yet to get even that money.I would hope that anyone attempting to use their services forget them and move on.
