Oil change
On 9/5/2022 I brought a 2007 Hyundai Azera in for an oil change at the 316 Fieldstown Rd, Gardendale, AL 35071 location. No sooner than starting the car to move out of the garage after the change did my oil light come on. I mentioned this and the inspected again, looking for leaks. This light only came on at idle. They told me to bring it to the repair area which suspected a bad oil pressure sender unit and quoted me $381.23 to fix it. I decided to bring it to a different shop because I did not trust them.
The other shop found they had failed to install the oil filter support when changing the oil filter. This caused a loss of pressure at idle. This diagnostic and replacement of the oil filter support cost me $259.16. Additionally, it cost me over a $100 in Uber fees getting across town as I was trying to find a new apartment/house to rent.
When I contacted the Express Oil location that did the job, they initially did not believe me but would look into it. Later, the store manager found the same employee that worked on my oil in the process of making the exact same mistake. After this, he believed me. We agreed that Express Oil would repay the diagnostic and replacement of the oil filter support (the $259.16) but not the Uber fees. This promise was made Sep 21, when I sent him the invoice for my repairs.
Since then, the store manager "dropped the ball" (his wording) several times on getting these damages to me. I called corporate who reached out to him and things seemed to be moving on 11-21-22. I spoke with the store manager again on 11-26-22 (asking if I had heard from corporate. I had not) and reached out again on 12-11-22. On 12-12-22 I was told it was in corporate's hands.
It is now 1-9-23 and I have still not received any remedy to these damages. I left a message with corporate last week and still have not received any reply and, tonight, left a written form complaint asking for resolution of this issue.
I am extremely disappointed in how I have been repeatedly led on in this situation and simply want compensation for the monetary damages this store caused me.
Desired outcome: Compensation for the $256.16 I spent fixing the issue that Oil Express location caused.
Negligent oil change
On September 12, 2022, I took my 2014 BMW X3 to Express Oil Change, Tire Engineer on Candler Road in Decatur, Ga. The following morning, my vehicle stopped on me and haven’t been drivable since. I spoke with the supervisor and explained what was going on, and he had me to tow my vehicle to the Express Oil Change Tire Engineer on Moreland Avenue, after a few days there no luck, my vehicle still wouldn’t start. I had my vehicle towed to Shamrock Automotive, the mechanic checked my vehicle after I told him what was going on. The mechanic stated upon checking the vehicle he reported there was no oil in my vehicle. I told the supervisor at Tire Engineer what he said and he stated we put oil in your vehicle, and produced a video. There had to be a malfunction with there oil machine or something but it is evidence no oil was put in my car. The mechanic stated there was no leakage meaning the oil was for some reason never put in my vehicle. He stated if there was oil put in and leaked out it would be some indication of oil underneath the vehicle. All I want is for Express oil to fix my car, I drove it there and it was driving great. After a supposedly routine oil change it drives no more. I need for Express Oil Tire Engineer to take responsibility for their action and have my vehicle repaired.
Desired outcome: To have my vehicle repaired
Just had the same problem. Huffman store in Birmingham, Alabama. I drove my car it jerked and the engine light came on. Towed it to a mechanic shop no oil! I am done with them! Times are already hard and to add more problems makes it no better. I felt some type of way when the lady tech had to call another guy over to ask where to put the filter. NEVER AGAIN!
Ripped Off
I went in to get my oil changed as I always do. I use the Express Oil close to my job because it is convenient. I get 5 off for ladies day. Let me say the FIRST problem was the tech YELLED AT ME! I was driving forward as I was told to do, when I got closer under the shed area the tech yelled WAIT! That's number 1! I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Mar. 9 and had a bilateral Mastectomy on April 11. On Friday I will have my second stage reconstruction surgery, my money is really REALLY RUNNING SHORT! I went to get my oil changed on my lunch break. Usually, I am asked what kind of I use, this time I was not asked. He did ask me about replacing the air filter which I agreed to. It was 27.99. My oil changed is usually between $35 and $40. to my SURPRISE he said $94.50! I said how much was the oil change he said $69.00 I said why so much he said prices have gone up, I understand that. But when I got my receipt this man has charged me for MAX LIFE OIL UPGRADE! I didn't ask for that that. I lost my husband a few years back and now living on one household income, instead of two which I did for 30 yrs. I COULD NOT AFFORD THAT! Had he asked I would have told him so. I am trying to get food in my house before surgery. $15 isn't much but when you are on a budget IT MATTERS!
Desired outcome: I would like a refund! Express Oil 00482 132 Winchester Rd. Huntsville, AL 35810 [protected]@gmail.com
AC servicel
On approximately July 11, 2022 at 2pm I arrived at Express Oil on 6th ave. Decatur Al in my 2016 Nissan Versa sv. I relayed to mechanic (Cody) that my ac was cooling while driving and while stopped the a.c. seemed to not work as well or even warm air. Cody took my car to the back and came back 15-20 minutes later and told me I had freon and the lines were stopped up and he needed to evacuate and recharge the system and the price was $129 I agreed. Cody came back approximately 45 minutes later and said that wasn't the problem its still not cooling. I would need to pay $70 to have the computer check for the problem. I declined.
He brings me my car and tells me no charge and that he evacuated Express Oils freon leaving my ac compressor dry. I told him to at least put some freon back in. I went home only two miles away. For a couple of weeks I did not drive it Mainly because of the heat wave the 95+ degree days. July 26th I was headed to Dollar General on 6th ave when I crank it I heard a grinding like sound I took my Nissan to a mechanic (Ruben) and he was surprised when I told him I took it to Express oil a couple of weeks ago and Cody evacuated the freon and he asked me, why? Didn't he realize it was a one pulley system. Within 10 minutes he diagnosed my problem as a bad ac compressor and engine cooling fan. He could repair it . I told him I could bring it back but on Saturday August 1, I went Walmart on 6th ave July 29 after shopping I tried to crank it no luck. No click, no engine turnovers, would not jumpstart. Insurance towed to mechanic (Ruben). Now the problem was a seized ac compressor and engine cooling fan the reason it would not start. I believe without Codys actions (evacuating freon) I would have had to pay for repairs but not even half as much money. I have made a couple of phone calls to Express asking to speak to manager or Cody for some reason they are bout off on the same day. I went in person Monday August 8 and spoke with Alfredo he said they were both off today. My Nissan was repaired on August 4 for a total price of $825 which include ac compressor, cooling fan, and freon replacement.
Desired outcome: An apology and to be reimbursed for my out of pocket expense for ac compressor, labor and freon.
On approximately July 2022 at 2pm Express Oil on 6th ave. Decatur Al. I relayed to mechanic ( Cody) that ac was cool while driving and while stopped the a.c. seemed to not work. Two hours later I'm leaving Express Oil with evacuation of original freon. Two days later compressor seized and cooling fan burned out. One thousand dollar repair.
Air conditioner
I was charged for a service that I didn’t receive and added wiper blades. I was charged $200. This is the location in Alex city Alabama. I was told that my compressor was bad and that I would have to pay $1400 to get it fixed. He gave me an option to pay the $200 with nothing done or they would fix my ac for $1400 with the $200 included. When I told them that was too much for me he then charged me $200. I don’t understand why I was charged that much and my car left the same way I came. It wouldn’t surprise if this company closes soon bc of their crooked ways.
Desired outcome: I would like my money back bc that was wrong to charge me that much and not fix anything.
Coolant leak
I took Saturn Vue in for a coolant leak. They called back and said it was a hose and would be over $500 to replace. I said ok if that’s what it takes to get it back on the road replace it. When I got there to pick it up they informed me that it was not the hose they had replaced and that they weren’t sure what was causing it but they estimated to continue blindly fixing what they “thought” it was would run me well over what the car was worth. So I said no just stop I’ll pay and go. Listed car on Facebook, had dozens of mechanics calling wanting to buy it. They all said I’d been done dirty, that if it was a hose they should’ve known and if they didn’t fix, I shouldn’t pay, including the shade tree mechanic that was very excited to buy it. I was stuck with 3 kids and no vehicle for 3 weeks because of this and everyone I’ve spoken to said that was worthy of a refund. I Normally go to the one on the south side of Cullman, AL. I will not be using the one on the north side of Cullman AL anymore and have spread the word. I’ve never had issues with the south location and I’ve been a patron since I was a teen (now 36). I’m a single mom and had to used all of my savings to buy another car, this was way to much to charge someone for their error.
Desired outcome: Apart from the inspection, I would like a full refund. Part of it can be in the form of gift card or credit for future visits to the south branch. Preferably a full refund though.
Express Oil Change, 5315 Highway 280, Birmingham, AL 35242
On March 23, 2022, I took my 2019 VW Atlas to Express Oil Change located at 5315 Highway 280, Birmingham, Alabama 35242. to have my oil changed. As the service attendant was rendering my service invoice (invoice No. [protected]), he informed me that my oil pan drain plug was stripped and that I would need to have a new oil pan. He tnen informed me that it was the last people that performed the oil change that is responsible for the oil plug being stripped. I asked him how he knew that. He told me that they have certain torques that they use to tighten the oil plug and that the plug was too tight when they loosened it. He then said that whoever tightened it must have been a very strong person, because they had a hard time loosening it. I called the last company that did the oil change and informed them what Express Oil Change said - that they were responsible. The last company that changed it said "no, it was Expess Oil Change that is responsible because they are the ones that took the oil plug out." Express Oil Change is responsible for the plug being stripped. The service attendant should have informed me before he did the oil change and loosened the plug, knowing that the plug was over-tightened. If they had informed me beforehand, I could have taken the car to the last company and made a case that they over-tightened the oil pan plug.
Desired outcome: I would like for Express Oil Change to replace my oil pan, plug and sensors at no cost to me. Thank you.
Oil change & damages
Took my jeep in for oil change they broke the internals if the oil filter housing unit. I cintacted store manger he had it towed to shop. The assistant store manager refused to accept responsibility. Contacted dm he said repair it. They repaired that piece and told me it was fixed I said ok.. He said but you now have blown head gaskets. He said but come get your jeep. I said no yall had it tiwed yall bring it to my sisters house where you picked it up if yall want it off your lot. They had it towed back to her house the tow truck driver wouldnt even drive it off the roll back or touch it he told me to get up their and do it. We are here blown head gaskets them refusing the part they replaced couldn't cause whats happened now.. It is the exact reason its happened!
Desired outcome: Fully repair head gaskets that the part they broke caused to go out
A/C Compressor replacement
I brought my car in at 10:15am for an a/c service.
I was told to leave the vehicle, so I did.
At 11:30 I got a call from the mechanic, and he said it was my clutch on the A/C Compressor.
He proceeded to give me the price $ 943.00
I was a little disappointed to hear the price.
I gave him a verbal yes over the phone.
That’s all he said and we hung up
I was thinking that the end of the day I would have my vehicle, I depend on my car for my family for emergencies etc.
At approximately 4:11 I called the shop and the person who picked up the phone seemed to not really know the current situation with my car, so I asked him when would you be finished
He replied: oh aw the mechanic is working on it now, hopefully it’ll be done before we leave.
At that time I was thinking of course, that he would give me an update before they close to let me know if they had to keep car till Monday because Sunday there closed.
At 6:10 I tried calling back because if they were going to keep it I need to make other arrangements to get a vehicle, of course no answer I have to assume they are close, with no call back no update just nothing I’m taking care of my 91 year old father and if something happens to him I would have no Transpotation to take care of the problem.
The customer service is absolutely the worst when handling other people possessions
I bet they have a car. Because of them I don’t have one for 2 days and I don’t know what’s wrong!
When they do finish they expect me to pay the full amount and that’s a lot of money to come up with and I get treated like this!
If they were having problems just admitt they there’s a problem but the manager assured me that they do this kind of stuff all the time.
Right now I’m very upset about a simple task messing up my whole weekend being stuck in the house! As of now I have no idea to what’s going on with my car.
Oil change Fort oglethorpe,Ga
If you want a review without words go to my Facebook and you can hear what kind of business this is. after a simple oil change my friends jeep has a blown head gasket. The difference in price of the oil change here is 100× less then what the repair is going to cost my friend to get his jeep fixed now. By the way it may be cheaper just to have it fixed, but the priciple of being done this way and how they treat you, this is going to an attorney to prove a point, he is not getting ran over and told lies and hear 100's of excuses like we have by the manager, district manager, and now the vice president of operations. They overtightened the oil filter housing unit which is plastic and caused oil to leak into radiator and over flow. Which when waters not flowing through radiator right can cause a blown head gasket. when they topped fluids off they would have never touched it if it would've had oil or foam like it did in the radiator or overflow jug. They would've called our attention to it. Like most shops, they are trying to get more money out of him and charge him to do work that they have caused. Well now they are saying maybe they didn't check the fluids because sometimes they don't do the checklist when they do the oil change. which on their website and the receipt they give you. IT STATES THEY CHECK FLUIDS AND OK'D ALL. We saw them take caps off put hose in to top fluids. if you watch vid on my page you can hear vice president of operations in Chattanooga area say. sometimes they don't do checklist and you can see a picture of their web page of what come with their oil changes as what comes with every oil change when you have it done. on the receipt where they did the oil change everything was "checked" off good. We usually check our water and oil every couple of months, the jeep has never ran hot or had any problem until after the oil change. SO BEWARE, before you get stranded and hoaxes by the deceiving practices of this company.

This was a inexperienced tech who tightened the plug with too much torque.
Then tried to blame it on the oil pan thread’s coming off with the screw.
I have worked in the auto industry for 25 yrs and know this only happens either by a auto accident compromise, pans last the life of a good maintained vehicle.
I have used your company for years when it was under different management but something went wrong today and I won’t put out $838.00 to replace a oil pan your employee broke.
To keep a lifetime customer is cheaper to fix it and make it right then to lose business by bad reviews and social media reviews. I hope you do the right thing and make the customer whole again and receive praise for doing so.
Mr. Skinner
Desired outcome: Fix your employee’s mistake and make the customer whole and don’t hide behind false excuses for things that go wrong.
Oilchange
I took my 09 Chrysler 300 in for its usual oil change got home radiator was boiling over. No problem fixed it. Drove to work this morning went out to the car on my lunch break and my car has leaked more than a quart of oil on the ground. I got under the car and my original drain plug is missing in its place is this rubber gasket with some type of bolt in it. I got under the car to tighten it was hand loose and couldn’t be tightened enough for it to stop leaking. I’ve been using my his location for years and this is the first I’ve ever been disappointed.

I took my vehicle to the Express Oil Change on Johnston St. Lafayette, LA on May 2nd, 2022 at 11:30 am to get it looked at and fix the problem. My traction light/stabilitrak was on and my service engine light. My vehicle is also vibrating back when idling and once i get to 10mph while driving it does a really hard jerk. They told me my truck need a tune up that all 8 spark plugs/sparkplug wires and 2 coil packs needed to be replaced. I told them go ahead and do it. It took them over 5 hours to get it done. To only get told that the codes are still popping up and it must be an electrical issue. The next day I had a certified mechanic come look at it to tell me that the coil packs were the wrong ones and the sparkplugs and wires weren't changed. So I took it back the Wednesday for them to tell me the same thing that it was an electrical issue. I had the certified mechanic come look at it again and he changed a couple things that still didn't change anything and told me it still needs a tuneup because you have a bad misfiring. I then took it to a car dealership to have them tell me that it needs a tuneup. Then on Monday, I took it to a Goodyear mechanic shop that ran an hour diagnostics and told me it's saying I need a tuneup. On Monday, May 9th, 2022 I called the Express Oil Change on Johnston St at approximately 3:30 pm and asked to speak to the manager but was given the guy who first worked on my vehicle and as I explained him what all these places and mechanics were telling me, he gets ugly with me by saying I can show you the camera and the tuneup was done right, it's an electrical issue. I told him it's not an electrical issue cause none of those codes are popping up in the diagnostic test that's being ran. Then he says well the manager Mr. ------ will be back in the morning.
Desired outcome: My money back so I can bring it get fixed the right way.
Oil change

Service
I’ve tried to give benefit of the doubt. However this is my third visit in a row to Express in Alabaster, Al with bad service. The store near Hwy 119. I was put in line behind another vehicle. I waited for 10 minutes as other vehicles who pulled in after me were serviced. The manager Don came out and when I tried to say something to him he held up his hand and said “hang on I’m trying to figure this out”. He came up to my window and asked me what my problem was. So I told him and he didnt seem too concerned. So I went down the street to the other Express near the Shelby Baptist Hospital and Terry treated me like a king. Not sure why the other store cannot get a better system or keep up with who is next.
Desired outcome: Trying to figure out why I keep going to this location. Ill be using the other store.
My vehicle inspection during an oil change
My oil was changed on 2/22/2022. I was told that all my fluids were good including diff. 3/14/2022. I had to purchase a rear end for my truck due to it running low on diff fluid. It caused the gears to run dry. I spoke with the shop supervisor and the boss upstairs. I was informed that the individual who checked all that no longer works there. Also that I had went over my mileage. Those miles he stated I went over are the miles I put on the new axle. Also I changed my own oil also. Seeing as how at the time I didn’t trust that opinion so I did it. The big guy also stated my truck had 200,000 on it. So what if it does. It just rolled over to 200,000. Saying it’s old but as long as you service your vehicle it will be good. From past experience. I will be contacting an attorney if this is not handled. If I receive any calls from the two I spoke with I will just stick with the attorney. I still may do so. We’ll see.
Desired outcome: I need reimbursement for the oil change I was charged for at the time of ignoring my rear diff fluid being low and cost of the rear axle.

Oil change/damage
Went in for an oil change today 1/19/22, left needed a complete oil pan replacement due to them destroying the drain plug. They said the previous company put drain plug on too tight but no problem because they had tools to get it off. When it was all said and done the drain plug never came off although they found a way to eventually do the oil change BUT was warned of possible leakage and sternly told that I need to completely replace oil pan now.
Desired outcome: I want company to replace my oil pan no additional charge to me
Company resolved issue by replacing the oil pan at no additional charge today 1/22/22.
All is well now. Thank you.
The company’s manager contacted me to bring vehicle in the replace the oil pan due to them destroying the drain plug and not telling me in advance the possible outcome. Replacement happened 1/22/22. I am satisfied with the resolution. Thank you.
Maintenance reports not given to the correct customer repeatedly
I have made a claim to my warranty company to repair an engine issue. Express Oil Change has devices my car the last two years and they have been imputing data to the wrong vehicle. When I called them on it they would not generate the appropriate information for my vehicle. My warranty company required my last 4 oil changes and Express Oil Change would not generate the correct information.
Desired outcome: I need the the repair work and out of pocket expenses recovered
Ac/ compressor
Since last Monday 6/14/2021. I have tried to have my ac fixed. I was told to come back the following day Tuesday the 15th because I had a bad compressor that needs to be ordered. I can't back the following day sat and waited a minute then got picked up to go home where about 4 I was told another part needed to be ordered and I can pick my car up and bring it back Saturday. That's what I did. Took the car back Saturday the 19th. I waited 4 hours before being driven home by the mechanic will. Will called me at 430 to tell me I can come get my car. I picked it up and paid them $840.99. The next day my car would crank or stay Crunk up. while inspecting the air filter, refrigerant shot out on me from under the hood. After that the car could crank but made a loud hissing sound. The ac was not working after that. I took it back Monday morning at 8am. Will said he would do the best he could. I heard nothing all day. I had to get a ride to work. And on my way from work my car was parked in the other end of the parking lot in front of a check cashing place. So I went in to ask questions and will said he didn't know what the problem was and will began working in it again the next day on Tuesday. My car was ready Tuesday the 22nd after 5pm, but today on Thursday the 24th. Ac blowing hot still and car is idling loudly. I'm beyond upset that I depleted my savings to fix this and its worse now because its now messing up the driving quality. Also when I called today Will was not in. What can be done about this?
Desired outcome: refund or air finally fixed.
Buddy Robinson Jasper Alabama
My husband died in December from Covid married 28 years. I am having to take care of everything now. I took my Toyota to get an oil change and tires. So this person waited on me. I waited and waited so I walked over to see what was taking so long and he was helping a MAN that just pulled up. I said could you check my brakes also. Keep in mind this car has not been driven since October it's old and looked pretty rough. He just kept helping the MAN. I walked back to the oil change area. I waited and waited. So again I walked to the tire area and he didn't see me coming he was telling the other worker I brought my car wanted 9 things done. And was sitting down. Like I didn't matter. I wanted 4 tires and my brakes checked and oil change. I count 3 things. When he realized I heard him he started trying to help me. I feel discriminated against because I am a woman. What he didn't know was my new car was at home so I can get my husbands Toyota could get updated for a second vehicle. By the way my attorney is a female. I will wait for your response before I call her.
Desired outcome: Call from corporate
