General Electric wall oven

I recently did a full kitchen remodel and chose a GE wall oven. I wish I didn't. After only 2 years installed, I decided to tryout the self-cleaning oven feature on 9/8. It was pre-set for about 4.5 hours of cleaning. After about 2 hours, I got an "F96" error message (cooling unit). I pulled out my manual to see what to do and it said to push the "off" button. Had I done so I would have burned myself. The front panel was so incredibly hot it could not be touched. Furthermore, my granite countertop over the oven was so incredibly hot I could not touch it either and am shocked it did not crack. Using a silicone hot pad I pressed the button but the error message returned. The manual said to unplug for a minute or two so I flipped the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. When I turned it on again, I still got an error message (the manual says nothing about this). I could not touch my oven for many hours. It took until the next day for the oven panel to come on but the heating element no longer worked. The technician determined this was not a safety issue. Are you kidding me? The oven's self-clean feature broke my oven the first time used and heated to profound and truly dangerous temperatures. Only the technician determines safety and there is no one else at GE to discuss this with. GE ordered the parts and I had to wait 6 weeks for a repair but they are requiring me to pay labor costs to fix the faulty oven I just purchased. The Customer Relations department offered only "pat responses" and were fairly curt and unresponsive. I would appreciate a contact from someone at GE or an agency outside of GE who can help address for me how a safety concern is determined by a technician looking at the oven that has no heat, and how it is that GE is not taking responsibility to fix or replace this faulty new appliance. Please contact me before I take further action to get this resolved.

I think I can be of great help to you. I happen to have a great deal of background within the industry and have some pull as well. What was the exact model of the unit you purchased and where was it purchased from?

General Electric microwave and dishwasher

I bought a full set of appliances, dishwasher, refrigerator, range and microwave(Adora series) from you guys approximately four years ago. Within the four years the quality of the product for dishwasher & microwave have been terrible in the cosmetic sense. On the Microwave the handle coating is wrinkling and wanting to come off. The dishwasher near the vent is melting and the paint on the control panel has pretty much come off. I had this replaced once while under warranty and had asked if this was a problem. Was told no. The problem only seems to be getting worse.

Being within the industry, I can tell you this isn't common. You've had some scratching and then rusting because of it.

Cosmetic issues are not ever typically covered under the manufacture's warranty. It might be a good idea to check with the retailer you purchased them through to see if they may be of help.

General Electric unethical behavior

I have a GE Monogram oven that started to work erratically. It's not even 4 years old. So here is my story:
Finally, I had ordered 2 replacement parts for both ovens and the technician wanted to leave after doing 1 job. Why would I order 2 parts? As a spare? It was clearly on the ticket.
Your whole system is terrible. If the technicians were paid a commission for each job done, they wouldn’t cancel so many times and write lame excuses in the system, just to justify why they cancel.
They have too much power over what job is done and why they don’t get done. There is no accountability. Here is the series of events:

On September 26- I had an appointment. No one came. I did not receive notice of cancellation. I lost work- I went in late.
Sept. 29 at 4:40 pm, the tech came. He barely wanted to stay. He said, “It’s the igniter, an easy 30 min. job. I’ll make you 1st at 8 am on the 2nd. I had to leave work an hour early.
10/2- I stayed home again, waiting. Came late to work. A No Show. I did receive 2 emails. One for an 8-12 apt, as discussed, and another for a 1-5 pm apt. He covered his behind by sending a 2nd e mail after promising me I’d be 1st. I called GE at 4:30 pm. They stated the tech was on route. They called dispatch and lo and behold, they close at 5! Big surprise, and now it was 7:55 pm.
On 10/3- I called GE in the morning to find out his excuse this time. They stated the tech was on route since 4:30 pm the day before. When I questioned that it's 8 am now, , they said the system wasn’t updated as of yet. Then they told me the lie that the tech wanted to ensure there was ample space to work. Well, if the 1st tech had done the job or relayed the information, they would know that there was enough space.
On 10/4 a tech came and ordered the parts.
On 10/9- a tech came at 10:30, again when I was promised an 8 am apt, as I work. My son was home. He changed the parts after complaining about the oven (which is not my problem. He gets paid to do the job).
All in all, I lost hours of work and so did my wife, as she had to cancel her evening job on 10/2. Your system is flawed and techs have to much lee-way with inputting bogus/ lame excuses as to why a job doesn’t get done. I will take this further.
There is no excuse for causing hard working people to lose their $$$$$. I should submit a bill to you for lost wages and inconvenience. The first tech who never showed should be fired. I should be reimbursed the service call.

General Electric ge hotpoint washer dryer.

I purchased the washer/dryer stackable unit, model #GTUP240BW6WW 2/15/12. The transmission and basket was replaced 1/2017. The same problem that we had last January with the washer started happening last week. A technician came out and told us the unit needed a new transmission and basket and the part is covered but not the labor. It would cost us $324 to fix it. I can't understand why I have to pay to have a part they installed less than a year ago replaced. To say the least I am very disappointed with GE and will not buy another GE appliance.

General Electric replacement knobs for ge cafe range

Every single cheaply made plastic knob finally cracked and my stove was no longer useable. I ordered 5 out of 6 knobs and the fit is ridiculous. There are now big gaps in each space except the one knob I didn't replace. You'd think a company like GE would make the replacement knobs at least fit! I've had so many problems with my GE products I'd never buy again. The replacement knobs averaged $40 a knob, and look ridiculous.

General Electric ge profile range model ps920sf3ss

The heating element on my GE Profile Range, Model No. PS920SF3SS had an arc flash and fire on 9/3/17. There was a loud whirring sound, it looked like fireworks inside my oven. I had just turned on the broiler to warm up. Circuit finally tripped and it stopped. Oven coated in ash and molten metal sprayed throughout the inside. Smoke everywhere. I have used the broiler many times before with no issues. My range was purchased in November 2016. Still under warranty.

GE chose to repair the range rather than replace it. GE Service has dropped the ball over and over. I have been without my oven for over 4 weeks now.

I want the range replaced. I want GE to tell me what they are doing to address this defect. It is less than 1 year old. This is not just a heating element that went out -- I have experience with that. This was a dangerous electrical malfunction.

I have called multiple times because GE Service forget to schedule an appointment, didn't order parts (and had to expedite them), then the parts sat in my foyer for over a week until I called and scheduled an appointment (again) to make the repair. I am still awaiting parts they forgot to order the first time. The oven 'box' was badly gouged in 2 places during installation. I requested to escalate the case and was told (as usual) someone will get back to me in 1-2 days. SO DISAPPOINTED! I've been a happy GE customer until now.

I've got some experience in the industry. Overall I like .G.E. ranges, and the Profile 920 is a decent model. G.E.'s warranty process, like most other manufacturers, is to service the unit. Some retailers do offer additional warranty programs that may help. You might think about contacting the retailer you made the purchase through and see if they can do anything further.

General Electric ge oven model jt3500sf3ss, serial no. ttf604332q, explosion/arcing

The broiler heating element in our GE oven (top of oven compartment) exploded and started a massive, uninterrupted electrical arc. This happened today, Sept. 30, 2017, ~7:30pm EDT, only ~30-60secs after we turned on the broiler. The arcing only stopped after we turned off the whole oven.

Almost the entire interior oven surface, incl. glass window, is now covered with some kind of grey/white solid residue from the explosion/arcing event and the smoke it produced. Likewise our glass cookware that was inside the oven.

The oven was installed new only ~2.5 years ago. The broiler had never been used before. Also, the oven and the heating element were in a perfectly clean condition at the time this acing event happened.

This type of arcing event is a major fire hazard: it would have set our kitchen/house on fire if we hadn't been present nearby and reacted immediately. We are worried that the same could happen to other heating element(s) in the same oven; or in the GE other wall oven unit (same model) which is installed just below the one that exploded/arced tonight.

Clearly, this GE oven model is not a safe product to use in the house. Pls. advise how GE will address this hazardous condition. We request that GE replace both of these two oven units by a safer product, at no charge.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I'm involved within the industry and can tell you this isn't a common issue. In fact, G.E. has a strong reputation in the cooking area. Check with the retailer you purchased the unit through. Many offer addition warranty programs that can cover the expense of having the range serviced or replaced.

General Electric ge washing machine

purchased the machine approximately 3 years ago and I had to replace the agitator due to the fins breaking off. The fins on the replacement agitator are now cracked and it won't be long before they break completely off. The agitator is of a very poor design allowing clothes and towels to get stuck under the fins. As well it is constructed out of a very flimsy plastic. My previous washing machine that was very old had an agitator that was of a solid construction and was made out of a sturdier material. Thus preventing the problem I am experiencing with this machine. Honestly I feel as though my hard earned money has been washed down the drain and I am very disappointed with the GE washing machine.

I have a considerable amount of experience within the industry. Overall, I like GE appliances, but I wouldn't ever consider owning a GE clothes washer. You'll have nothing but continued problems. I'd check with the retailer you purchased the unit through. Many offer extended service agreements that, if purchased along with the unit, would cover the service or outright replacement of the merchandise.

As you replace the unit, assuming you want to continue to own something more with standard agitation, consider Speed Queen. There are three separate models they produce which are hands-down the best built within the industry. Yes, you will pay more for them, but buying cheap will only get cheap. Pay a little more and you'll have a far more positive experience. And, yes, I'd still take the time to shop for an extended warranty, although the Speed Queen models come with a minimum of a three year backing (and upwards to a 5 year program).

General Electric ge range mod pye 22ksk with glass top

We purchased this range about 10 months ago. It works perfectly but the black cook time is impossible to keep clean. Whoever thought black would be a good color should be sentenced to clean one forever. My wife is very neat and wants things to look nice. This top is impossible. Little water spills take way too much time to remove if they can be removed at all.Yes she uses the overpriced cleaner you suggest and uses only approved cook wear etc. I hope you have a better solution or have come up with a new surface that you will replace ours with.

General Electric ge microwave model jes1456ds3ww/ defective product!!!

We purchased our first of three microwaves in November, 2016 from Home Depot in Kitty Hawk, NC. We bought this particular microwave because it was white like our other appliances. We only use the microwave to cook frozen vegetables or to re-heat them. Our first one worked well for a few months and then one day it stopped working in the middle of cooking the vegetables. My husband finally got it working by opening and closing the door, but it did it again shortly thereafter. It showed "PF" in the display and we could not get it to work again so my husband took it to the dump because he had not saved the the box or the receipt. We bought another one, the exact same one as the first one because it was the only white one they had, and again it worked for a few months and then did the same thing as the first one! He took that one back to Home Depot and they exchanged it for another one, even without a receipt, because they remembered him from the last time. Now #3 has done it again and Home Depot would not take it back because they don't carry them anymore. I know we have no recourse because we don't have a receipt, just the sticker that he took off the microwave with the model and serial #s. This last one was manufactured March 2017. I definitely won't be buying another GE microwave but I wanted to let you know that there is definitely an issue with this particular microwave.

General Electric ge fridge

I have a 9000k fridge came with our home. We live in Gilbert AZ. 2 weeks ago we had the fridge stop cooling and dripping ice. We called for GE repair service and the guy Rick came in all huffy in a hurry. Said it did not look good... compressor and some other stuff. Will cost us 2000k for repairs a two man job. We called him and asked if he would mind telling our home warranty the diagnosis and he said no I don't have the time. Called the next day Friday and again said no I don't have the time! So the whole weekend we had gross food rotting and smells. No FRIDGE. So we called again on MONday need him to talk... he would not call us back. so we had to use the Customer service GE people to talk to our warranty. finally got approved for ordering parts... they came a week later. Repair was to take place on following MOnday! The Rick repair guy suddenly calls at noon to say our fridge was TAMpered with and it will not be fixed. hes not coming . He then calls our warranty to tell them this same thing! now he suddenly has time to call them... and not fix a DAMN thing.! I have never been treated so rudely in my LIFE. This is not how a man shoulde deal with customers . He is never allowed near my house again! I think he should be fired. I will spread the word in Gilbert AZ and my clinic to all my patients. We moved here one year ago and had never touched this fridge. Why should we be punished for his lack of wanting to work. Lazy man Rick!

General Electric I bought a bottom freezer 9/15 +~ not a good one

I'm complaining about a service man
Not GE service to be clear but he called GE service with an account number
9/1 diagnosed a bad fan I waited 11 days for him to come back, when he did it was not the problem
Then came back after I called him 6 times after he had told me it takes 24-48 hours to cool BS
finally after being on the phone with GE support it was the board
He told me $300 + tax and shipping so I went online and bought it for $121
Long story short I've spent $700 on a two year old refrigerator, very disappointed
Now he won't return my calls at all
So I installed the board myself
If there is anything you can do about this serviceman from representing GE you would be doing yourself and others a great favor
His name is Jared Gallagher doing bissniss as appliance jays I believe in Waterbury ct
I found him on thumbtack because GE service was 5 days out ( what a mistake on my part)

General Electric ge profile refrigerator service complaint

Two weeks ago my 6 year old ge refrigerator was not cooling. The freezer was cold but no refrigerator. I called the ge service number and they sent a service man to my home. He pulled out the refrigerator and vacuumed the filter and told me all was good. He charged me $225.00. One week later this past Saturday 9/16/17 I noticed the refrigerator temperature was climbing. It started Saturday and by sunday The temperature rose to 55 degrees. (9/17/17). So first thing Monday I called ge service again and told them what happened over the weekend and they came to service Monday 9/18/17. By the time the ge repair came to my home the temperature was normal again. He asked me if the first service man hooked my refrigerator up to the computer and checked the compressor etc... I said no, so he proceeded to hook up the refrigerator and said it was in defrost mode but saw no problems. He told me the next time it happens to call it has to be happening when he comes so he can see whats happening. So yesterday 9/21/17 the same thing started happening. The refrigerator climbed slowly thursday and by this morning 9/22/17 it had reached 55 degreed again! So once again I called ge and told her what was happening and that I needed a service man to come today because it was warm and this is when they had to service it to find out what is happening. She told me she contacted the dispatcher and told me someone would be out to service my refrigerator between 1&5 because I was a priority. At three o'clock today I thought I better see when they were coming because the temperature was starting to drop. I was told when I called that I was scheduled for service Tuesday and not today so that was useless...I have lost 3 days of work and that's all i'm going to lose! I insisted the lady told me I'll have service today & I HAD to have service today I'm home waiting for the repairman. The woman told me to hold and she would contact dispatch. I held and held and twenty min later I realized she had no intention of helping me. She never came back on line. So I called back again and told the woman of my problem again and said I wanted to speak to a manager. She proceeded to connect me to a voice mail. I left a message and no one called me back. I will never buy a GE product again! Nor will I recommend GE to anyone. I intend to connect to every social media outlet I know to tell them of the horrible customer service dept! So what do I do now? Throw this refrigerator out because I can't get it serviced? Or call a local refrigerator repair man? Obviously GE can care less. So thank for the useless service calls and inept service department. I also intend to contact the CEO which I just found on google..
Regards, A very unhappy GE customer!

General Electric washer model gfw450spkdg defective

On August 30, 2017, I purchased this washer from Home Depot. At this point, I had been without a washer for 2 weeks. Because there were so many orders for this machine, I had to wait 2 weeks for delivery. The machine was delivered on September 13, 2017. I put a load of laundry in and, when it started into the spin cycle, the machine started jumping all over the floor. I assumed this was due to it not being balanced, so I contacted the delivery company. They were not able to come out until Friday (2 days later) and didn't arrive until 8 p.m. They said it was not due to being unbalanced, but that the machine was defective. Something about the drum/drum gears slipping(?). They stated that the machine could not be repaired...it had to be replaced. They said they would notify GE about this. Of course, their offices were closed for the day and for the weekend, so they could not contact GE until Monday. I received a call this morning, September 20, 2017, which is now ANOTHER week without a washer, and was told that GE could not send a replacement, because they were notified more than 48 hours after delivery. Now I have to wait yet ANOTHER week for the GE technician to come out and check the machine. If he finds that the machine needs to be replaced, then I'll be waiting for who knows how long for the replacement. I am now 5 weeks without a washer, 6 weeks by the time the technician comes, and lost 3 days of sitting home waiting for deliveries and technicians. This is unacceptable! I reported the problem the SAME DAY the machine was delivered. I'm not in control of other companies schedules, but am suffering for their "more than 48 hour" notification. Photos below show the condition of the door seal after less than one load was washed. I shut it off immediately when it started jumping across the floor!

I sent an email to GE with all the same information I posted in this complaint. GE Customer Service called me, then followed up with an email, stating they would replace, rather than repair, the washer. They even offered another model with a higher capacity that would be available for delivery faster.

General Electric driver in california

I wanted to report that one of your drivers in California was driving very dangerously Wed. Sept. 20th on Hwy 154 going East about 6am. I was able to get the plate number 73568A1 and also the 4 numbers on the back of the truck 9770. They were swerving, speeding up when someone tried to pass them, and tailgating the cars in front of them. I hope your company doesn't tolerate this and reprimands the person for putting other people in danger and giving your company a bad name.

General Electric ge gas range

Original range had to be replaced. Second one the drawer was crooked and jammed when leveling. Technician came couldn't fix, had to order all new parts. I won't even go into him not showing when scheduled. Put new drawer in still crooked. Told consumer relations would contact me within 24 hrs. I had to call them after 48 hrs. Talked to Maria, after investigating I was told it was cosmetic and not part of my warranty. Basically live with it. No discount, no remedy, but I can buy a new range at a discounted price. Like I will ever purchase another GE product. The holes for the drawer do not align that's a manufacturing quality issue, that's not cosmetic.

DON'T BUY GE THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND HAVE POOR CONSUMER RELATIONS!

General Electric customer service return policy

I ordered a part for my refrigerator order number [protected]. When the part arrived by FedEx, I opened the box and realized it was not what I needed. I was able to actually remove the part I thought needed replacement and fix it myself. I placed the part back in the same shipping box it arrived in and sealed it. I went on line for return instructions and an RMA number, 2984115. When I printed the return label it did not look like a normal return label. No bar code or shipper was designated. I called the number on the return paper, [protected] to ask about the return process. I asked which shipper I should use to return the part. I was told if it arrived by FedEx I should use them. I asked if it was free shipping, I was told yes. Imagine my surprise when I went to FedEx and the following happened: I was told the box that I received the part in from GE, sent by FedEx was unacceptable. I was told that the package needed to be repacked because the content was not protected enough. If I did not do those two things, FedEx could not accept the package. I had no choice and had to have a new box and have it packed according to FedEx standards. My surprise continued when I was told the cost of returning the $70.00 part was $78.32. When I called GE after returning home, I was told I could have returned the part by any shipper I wanted, and they suggested the Post Office. I was also told that GE does not pay for returns. Too late. What awful customer service. If I had known all of this information and misinformation, I would have just thrown the part in the trash. I am moving to a new home and was going to replace all of the appliances with GE. Not now. GE has lost a loyal customer.

I ordered water filters thru GE for our new refrigerator. I was sent to wrong ones so returned them. The agent I talked to said it would be picked up and sent me a return label. That was last Nov. I was credited $6.12 but had paid $144.78! Since the end of Nov (it is now Jan 23, 2021) I have been trying to get someone in customer service. After being on-hold for at least 45 mins each time I call, I find out the agent can't help me and I get yet another phone number. I have sent emails and now I have 2 case numbers. ! I spent 40 mins in a chat session only to find out that agent couldn't help me! I was given another number to call. My email sent to me with the 2nd case number had yet another phone number. I have currently been given 6 different numbers to call. The worst customer service ever. Will never buy directly from them. And this is an AMERICAN company? Pathetic

I too learned the hard way that GE do not have free return shipping. It is hard to find the details of their return policy. I had to search "GE return policy"file at https://customernet.geappliances.com/CustomerNet/docs/ScrapNReturnsPolicy-Retail.pdf. They do not have a searchable "Return Policy".

Also, I was charged $112.27 for the part, but received a $109.84 refund. I call to ask about the refund amount. I was told they do not pay for shipping the part to me since I returned it, therefore, $2.43 was deducted from my refund (slowly shaking my head...you have got to be kidding me). I paid FedEx $10.82 to ship the part back because it did not fit my oven. Should I not receive a $112.27 credit? NEVER again will I ever purchase a GE applicant again and I will share this with many people. Bad GE!

General Electric ge profile double oven range

BRAND NEW oven: Had repairman from store out 3 times on the fourth call they called back day of appointment and said he's not coming because he doesn't know how to fix it. I called GE 5 separate times and was told each time that there are no service centers or service men in my area because I'm too rural- which is completely untrue. I live within an hour of a large city. I now have to purchase a new oven and throw away the brand new one that they refuse to fix. I will NEVER BUY GE PRODUCTS AGAIN NEVER.

General Electric 4 year old ge dishwasher

Information above Here are pictures of my GE stainless steel dishwasher which is 4years old. I had a technician out last week to check on another problem and he had NEVER seen anything like this is his 35 years of repairing appliances. I ask how to repair it and he said to replace the front panel was expensive. Since I have no income due to chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer I said it would have to be cheap fix. So then he said "contact paper, the sticky stuff". On a 4 year old dishwasher. Weird.
I'm sure since the front has bubble and cracked off the bubbling in the door side and the spots closer to the top will crack off too. I'm sending this to you because you are " in charge " of corporate reputation. I thought you could forward it to someone else who could help. Before I go on Facebook and other social media and ask others about this happening on their 4year old dishwasher. Was it a bad paint job or enamel baking that year? I paid $700-$800 dollars for this. And it was my first stainless steel interior. The most I've ever paid for a dishwasher. Not very impressed so far.

General Electric case number [protected]

We had a recall on a 'part' on our washer. I only learned about this after a 'certified' GE repairman came and told us, we "just need to buy a new washer". He did not tell us about the recall on this model, but we had to find out for ourselves. That our first, of many bad experiences, with the issue of our GE washer model number WPDH8800J0MG. I filed the first complaint about the recall and set a date for repair in July. The second person did not call/confirm date so I sat and waited from 1-5 and Service guy was a no show. I called the 'customer service' line and told them no one showed and was told it would be ANOTHER 2 weeks before anyone would come. The 'parts' were ordered and a different serviceman arrived for installation, 1 hour late! Ok, whatever I'm thinking just get it going, after 3-4 weeks without my washer. He installed the parts and the washer worked for about 2 loads of laundry, only for the same issue to return, the issue being that the spin cycle went so fast that it shook the house as well as not draining properly. AGAIN, I call them back and tell them it was back to doing the same thing. We had to wait ANOTHER 2 weeks for the guy to come back today to say that it was the washer itself and that they would give us a "prorated " price on a new washer. Well, they don't make that washer anymore, because it's crap, so we had to look at another washer which would not have been compatible with the dryer, so that meant purchasing a new washer AND dryer! The prorated price was a joke and I saw a much better price on Best Buy and Home Depot than their "prorated " price. I explained this to customer service and she said " we do not price match". I stated it was their faulty product that they were responsible for fixing and she stated it was not the washer that was recalled, but the 'part'. How convenient. Needless to say, I will never purchase another GE appliance or product from them after this 2 month nightmare. Have a new LG set on the way and do not have to wait 2 weeks. GE does not stand behind their products and does not care about their customer's satisfaction. Please beware if you have this model of washer. The spin cycle goes so fast that there was smoke coming out of the washer! Horrible product and horrible customer service. Bush-bye GE.
