Just left the Goodwill at 2535 W. Golf Rd Hoffman Estates, Il [protected] this evening. Just went thru the register and spent $21.07- big deal, but on the way out I noticed some bags with flatware in them on the pegboard shelving. Someone had donated a set and these people split it up. Mixing patterns thus forcing the shopper to buy several to have more of a complete set. I asked the manager going to the exit door (it was closing time) if I could try to match up the set. She replied "as long as there are 15Pcs in the bag" SO, I go to cash wrap and some taller guy who I think is in management started counting the pieces. Guess what, I was 1 spoon over. I did not intend to rip off Goodwill. So this guy took the one spoon and set it aside and said 15pcs only. Not even giving me a chance to look further to see if maybe there are other pieces in bags still on the pegs.
Thought that was unprofessional and rude to be treated this way. BTW, the guy was dressed unbefiting someone in management and certainly did not appear to have any "best practices" training. Really, all of this bad situation over 1 spoon!
Claimed loss: Left it all there and did not purchase. Did not want to use it with bad feelings anytime we wanted to have company over for dinner!
