will never buy a groupon again
Bought the mattress groupon (pay $75 for a $300 voucher). I read all the fine print and felt that I understood (did not apply to online orders, delivery charges). I went into the store and chose my mattress set that was listed at $699 and on sale for $399. The employee advised me that the mattress was not in the store but he could have it delivered to me or I could arrange to pick it up the next day...or I could go to the other store to pick it up. I told him we had the truck and wanted it then and I wouldn't mind going to the other store to get it. Great, he said and offered to do the paperwork and call them to let them know I would be on my way. I handed him my groupon and he then told me that he would take the $300 off the pre-sale price and my cost would be $399 plus tax. He further advised me that although it does not say on the groupon that it does not apply to sale prices, they do not honor the voucher off sale prices. That being said, if I had walked out with that mattress, I would have paid an extra $75 than had I not bought the stupid groupon. I told the employee that they were running a complete scam and he said "I only work here". Will never buy a groupon again.
rec'v used unit w/1 yr (not 3 yr) warranty
I ordered a NuBrilliance Microdermabrasion Machine from Groupon Goods for $144. It took over 3 weeks to arrive. WHen I opened the box, I knew something was wroong right away. There was no stuffing in the box so it had banged around during transit. As soon as I opened the product box I new it was enve worse: The unit has obviously been used and repacked, the bag was crumpled, there was fuzz on the outside of the suction tube and two black particles inside the suction wand, the plug was wrapped up incorrectly comfirming it had been used by someone and returned, the fine tip head was half way on and won't seal closed on one side and had debris on it and the little bags the filters and extra heads came in were obviously handled. All the instructions were stuffed under the badly beat up "velvet" frame the round unit sits in - I pulled the stuff out and SURPRISE - a card stating that this unit had a ONE YEAR LIMITED warranty when the Groupon offer stated a THREE YEAR warranty. I immediately emailed Groupon and asked to return for refund. Everything seemed fine until Groupon told me to go to Antoinette Ramos the Cust Svc Supervisor at Emsonusa.com (E. Mishan and Sons, New York, NY). She refused and sent me back to Groupon who sent me back to her. Meanwhile, Antoinette claims in the email it has a THREE yr warranty but EMSON is a reseller so how does 1 = 3? Now they want me to pay for the return shipping and will only send me a replacement which I do not want. I signed up for Groupon in January and this was my first Goods purchase. Once this is settled, I will unsubscribe. I have asked them to be reasonable but they refuse. My next stop is FTC and any other board I can find. I understand that they have in the fine print that health and beauty items cannot be returned but to send someone a USED one with no 3 yr warranty and then on the THIRD email claim that it was not USED but TESTED by the company as a way to explain why the cord was wrapped wrong stinks like a scam to me. I wonder if NuBrilliance unloaded a bunch of returns and reconditioned items on E Mishan & Sons who then used Groupon to unload them on the unsuspecting public. Not using a used thing on MY FACE! gross. Feel dumb for sure. Get annoyed when I am taken for a fool.

Nu Brilliance has HORRIBLE customer service FRAUD CHARGES on customer Credit Card **BUYER BEWARE**
I bought this item directly from the manufacture. (Big mistake on my part!) The price is slightly less for the unit and there were several "bonuses" that came packaged with the order when you purchase direct. Even before the product shipped I had issues with the charges placed on my credit card.
24 hours after I placed the order, excited to receive the product, I checked the status on shipping. It had read glowing reviews on what it does for your skin and I took the 3 year warranty just in case the suction started to fail as I had seen in other reviews. I received express shipment free since I paid the unit in full at the time of ordering. At viewing my status, I saw it was "pending credit card authorization" which I thought was odd. I confirmed the transaction was authorized and the reduction on funds was present on my credit card statement. I contacted Nu Brilliance customer service getting a completely uninterested representative on the phone stating I would have to contact my bank and the authorization was "declined".
In contacting my credit card company, not only did they verify the funds were authorized, deducted from my available balance, but they repeatedly tried to charge my card for same amount SEVERAL times!? Thankfully my bank was declining the additional charges they saw as duplicates or there would have been over $1000 in fraudulent charges.
My credit card representative then conferenced in Nu Brilliance customer service with me. They were belligerent stating the card charges were declined, and the goods would not be shipped out. My poor credit card representative was as frustrated as I was after this treatment having to explain to them 3 times, it was authorized, here is the authorization number, only the duplicate charges were declined, what do we need to do to get the product shipped...she still didn't get it. He finally forced the customer service representative to cancel the entire order and verify the cancellation so they could remove all charges from my account. She flat out refused to verify the necessary information to my credit card representative so he can remove and further block any additional charges from Nu Brilliance. At this point we asked for a manager, who in turn stated she would contact their "accounting department" with the request and they would “eventually get back to us”.
As of right now I am still out $256.64 and have no product or refund. I will NEVER buy or support any product from Nu Brilliance no matter how good because of the multiple FRAUDLENT charges they tried to post on my credit card and lack of customer service to correct a problem they created. If I’m having trouble just getting the item shipped/charged properly imaging if I have to do a warranty return if the product fails within the first 3 years! They have lost a customer and potential repeat business because of what they put me through though my only fault was simply placing an order.
groupon by far have the worst customer service I have ever come across
Groupon by far have THE WORST customer service I have EVER come across. They are fine as long as the groupon deal runs smoothly, however if you ever need a refund then this just won't happen, even if it was not your fault (In my case the company did not provide the goods I bought through Groupon...) They make endless promises and never honour them, I'm still waiting for my £20 refund over 3 months later... I'm really unhappy with my experience with Groupon and will NEVER use them again!
I totally disagree on that! I've had to contact their customer service twice and they got back to me so quickly and were extremely helpful and nice. N
stay away from this site
I have been ordering from only merchants for some 15 years, and never had a problem that wasn’t resolved within a reasonable amount of time. Until I ordered from Groupon that is. On January 14, 2012, I ordered a Canvas World Map via Groupon’s website for $19.00. Per Groupon’s instructions, I proceeded to the website www.redtag.com to have my order shipped and paid an additional $2.95. After two weeks passed with no word on my order, I contacted RedTag about the shipping via email. In reply, on February 16, 2012, Redtag replied indicating that I need to contact Groupon about the product, as they knew nothing about the product or the shipping. I emailed Groupon and Casey B from Customer Support responded by basically demurring. I have emailed Groupon multiple times with no result. I ordered my product over 45 days ago, it has yet to arrive and no one seems to know where it is. Stay away from this site!
lack of service
I purchased a Groupon voucher for Executive Maid, for four sessions (valid for 12 months). However, Executive Maid failed to arrive on the pre-arranged date to provide their service, without an apology before or after the date. I alerted Groupon and Executive Maid to my disappointment and the lack of service I received. Executive Maid finally responded after numerous e-mails on my part, without any apology they said that they could not cope with the demand and I should get a refund from Groupon. After Groupon provided me with no help, besides telling me that they would 'escalate' the matter. They have now refused to give me a refund, even after the service provider has told me that they are incapable of providing me with the agreed upon service, as Groupon has a 7 day policy. So in other words, when you buy a Groupon, you need to make a booking and try out the service within 7 days of purchasing the Groupon, or else you have no chance of a refund, no matter if you receive bad or simply no service at all.
big boy bean bag which I never recieved
I purchased a big boy bean bag in November11' paid for postage and packaging. I contacted the company to ask how long this will take to deliver and they told me 4-6weeks. I waited till January where I still heard nothing then I contacted them via email. A week later I get a reply saying there was a problem with the make of the product so therefore its being sent out late and got sent a voucher for there company.
Then i recieved a failed delivery notice from yodel the delivery company. I tried to rearrange the delivery and wait in all day for it not to arrive. Then i called yodel and they told me that this was the 3rd failed delivery for it and they will be sending it back unless I contact the company to keep it there. I had only ever recieved one failed delivery notice so was unaware of the others. I emailed infurn about this and I waited again a long time for a reply and when they finally did reply it was to say sorry we are unable to deliver this item as you haven't paid the delivery fee of 12.95. I was fuming and replied to say that i have paid it and have it on my statements for 14th November! And find it ridiculous how they are trying to use it as an excuse for the problem. How stupid do they think I am, they have already tried to send it out to me! I then waited 2weeks and still no reply and u contacted them again. They emailed back saying they want proof on my statement! I find this outrageous! Why would I send them a copy of my statement so they can see all my private bank details! I obviously won't win this battle but I want people to know never to buy from this company! They are just out to scam you, and if not that they are the worst most unorganized company I have ever come across! I wouldn't even rate them a zero!
I too purchased a bigboy beanbag via groupon in Nov. Now in march and still hasn't arrived despite infiurn site suggesting it was passed to dhl about 6 weeks ago.
Stay clear of this company and groupon as service has been shocking! Shame really loved groupon upto this point! 6 emails to them still no closer to resolving.
metabody
The dea. through Groupon to get 30 (or 20 in NYC) classes in your area for only $20 is total bs. The Groupon promotion doesn't make it clear you rhave to go through an elaboratge registraton on their website--and the website is unnavigitable. Plus--it won't let you actually do anything for two days after your register. It will, however, play over and over an awful little video from Adele Fridman, sometimes two at almost the same time, so you get an echo effect.
I can't tell if it's a scam or just the worst website I've ever seen.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I signed up for a 30 class pass on January 16. I was very busy but knew I had a few months to use it. I only could use it near my home so would only be able to use a small number of the 30 classes. I felt that was okay. So, today, February 10, I went to sign up for the classes and found out that the location near me isn't listed anymore. I can't get to any of the other locations as they are too far and not near anything else I do. I tried to call Metabody, but they wouldn't answer the phone and just indicated to use the "live chat" on the web site. So, I went to the live chat, but "no operator was available." I called the Metabody number back and tried to get through to an operator but couldn't. The only thing it did is said to do live chat or email and then disconnected. So, I wrote a message to Groupon and am hoping for a refund. It's false advertising to say that you can use a particular gym and then not honor the pass there during the active time period. Groupon needs to get it's act together and not work with shady operations like this. They need to have some minimum customer service and fulfillment standards that the business must meet to be a Groupon participant business. I want my money back!
I bought the groupon last month and have been using the MetaBody Fitness pass for about a month now. The registration process took about two minutes, and there's at least 30 classes available every day. You have to check the classes on the MetaBody website schedule and NOT on the individual yoga studio websites. Classes must be scheduled directly through MetaBody (very simple, just click book now and confirm, and you are good to go), NOT through the studio. It's not like this is a piece of paper you bring to any yoga studio you want...the studios have agreements with the company. You MUST go through MetaBody to use their pass (the groupon is not for the yoga studio, it is for MetaBody). There is a huge variety of classes, it isn't just yoga (tai chi, virbrations, kickboxing, ect). 30 yoga classes is a STEAL, as this would cost a minimum of $360, maybe even up to over $500 if you went to individual studios. I had a 20% off coupon, so I only paid $16 for 30 classes. The site isn't too diffiuclt to use, although they are currently updating the system, so there are some changes going through right now. If I can get another groupon for this (not sure if it is for new pass holders only or not) I definitely will..
I bought this groupon thinking it was great. After realizing I maxed out my 5 visits to one studio I thought "ok well my fiancee has just given me the same groupon as a gift so I'll go a few more times and then buy a membership". FALSE! You can't use a second groupon, even if you are given one as a gift. So I message the "Live Help" person... live maybe, help, definitely not. I was told to read the fine print and try some new studios... well there's only 5 studios in Calgary available... meaning I couldn't do anything else anyways... no offer of a refund, no offer of help, just read the fine print. No wonder these guys make money. I will be letting EVERYONE know about this because frankly, it's a rip-off. Oh well, live and learn for 20$
I also had a bad experience with trying to use the MetaBody pass in Phoenix. I activated my Groupon a day or two before it expired online for 30 days of classes. I go to book a class a couple days later and the website says my membership has expired! WTH? No where did it say I had to USE the 30 day pass up totally before the expiration. Just that it had to be ACTIVATED before the expiration date. I DID call and could never get through to anyone. I also emailed them and NO RESPONSE. Waste of money. Beware.

Hi Marielie, we are sorry that you had such a horrible experience with us. It is true that we do not have our own location in Vancouver. Our offices are based in Toronto and we partner with some of the best studios in North America and promote classes on their behalf. We want to give customers like you an opportunity to try out a variety of classes and studios and find one that is right for you.
It is also true that not all studios have yoga classes. We cannot expect a Kettle bell studio to have hot yoga classes! Nor can we expect a yoga studio to have kickboxing classes. Each studio has their own specialty and you have an opportunity to try them all. All the class schedules are posted on our web site and we hope customers would visit the site and check the schedule prior to purchasing our pass.
You had mentioned that you are in Vancouver and wanted yoga, we have wonderful locations in your city to try out classes! Had you contacted us, we would have pointed you to those locations and helped you get registered. That is what our support team is for and I would like to think that we do a wonderful job at helping people. Our over 30, 000 loyal Facebook fans feel the same way that I do!
Unfortunately, our happy customers and fans do not post on the Complaints board, but I thought that I would share some of their sentiments here:
“Buying my pass with MetaBody has been a wonderful experience. I've been able to try out several different yoga studios throughout the city multiple times - all for $20! A great deal, with great participating studios. Registration online is fast, efficient, and easy. Would highly recommend!”

“My experience with the Metabody Pass was excellent especially when taking into account the initial investment for the pass. I was able to experience many different studios as well as a variety of teachers and teaching styles. I practiced at Yoga in Tribeca, Sacred Sounds Yoga and Keshava Yoga. All were very diverse in the styles presented - I enjoyed each of them. Thank you! ”

“I am very excited that I am going to be able to mix and match between the many exercise options. One time I'll be trying spinning, then yoga, boot camp or group exercise classes. It gives me the chance to try many workouts. One gym was even located close to me and I would have never found it. Thank you! ”

“I just moved to Minneapolis and the pass allowed me to try out different yoga locations to see what suited me best. It's also an extremely good deal and also beneficial for people, like me, who get bored easily and like trying different work outs! ”

“This has been a life changer, I started off weighing 149 lbs and going through the mid life change where nothing worked. I had a hard time sleeping and kept gaining weight.
I bought a METABODY pass for me and my 12 year old daughter and I thought we could use it to spend quality time together while I tried to get my body back.
We started off with Martial Arts @ Hapmudo Studio, then La Plata fitness with a Butt and Gutt class and found their Spin class; I am now officially hooked on Spin.. We did Annapolis boot camp and that was fun. We tried Kick boxing which I now do once a week. We tried Cardio kick boxing @ Jordin's Paradise, I love this Studio. Ying Yang Yoga was such a great experience; we would go to Olney MD (which is about an hour from where I live) religiously every Sunday morning. I now do Yoga twice a week, I love it, , , , ,
I am now 127 lbs and my ideal weight is 125 lbs.
I am 50 years old and having the best time of my life, I have a friend at work and she also purchased a pass. We schedule to our classes together and we have been to so many areas of Maryland, DC and Virginia that we would not have known about without Metabody.
Thanks METABODY you have saved our lives and given us a healthy life style and we did not have to break the bank doing it. ”

I had a horrible experience with Metabody I live in Vancouver they don't have a location here they say they have but they just partner with some local gym in area... groupon is not helping us to get a refund for yoga class adv. sold by them falsely sold when you try to call this guys is a total nightmare no customer service, DO NOT BUY THIS DEAL FOR YOGA IF YOU LIVE IN VANCOUVER BC! i DID AND i WOULD NOT RECOMEND IT TO MY WORST ENEMY.
I am really upset about this i signed up for a class in ewa beach hawaii it gave me the address on pu pu st i went there and it was a house! not a center i called to complain and they gave me the same address
I agree that this is a scam. The online scheduling tool has a lot of bad information. I have tried to go to 3 classes at 3 separate locations without success. One had spinning instead of the yoga that I registered for on line. The next said that they never offered yoga on the night that I registered for and tonight the 3rd strike was that the instructor had never heard of metabody and never signed up with groupon - DON'T FALL FOR THIS!
I am a studio owner and fell for this SCAM! It is the worst mistake we have made to date. Please tell anyone you know NOT to purchase this on Groupon ever! We signed a an agreement with Metabody to partner with them one time and be featured as one of their studios on Groupon but they failed to tell us that the agreement was an auto- renew agreement that we had to cancel in writing or they would keep selling classes to our studio and making all of the profit! After notifying them, they agreed not to feature my studio again and then featured us again and sold more passes that gave people access to our studio. It has been a nightmare, awful customer service for clients and very shady business people. Who tricks someone into signing a contract without telling them it will keep renewing unless you provide a written intent to cancel? A truly great business would disclose that information before signing the agreement as they would he confident that that the signing party would want to renew willingly and knowingly. Unethical and it is just a matter of time before enough unhappy business owners find the right attorney and sue Metabody for lost income.
Inform friends not to buy from this business. They don't even offer services per aw- they just market and find unknowing businesses to sign their agreement then pass those businesses off as Metabody partners.. Metabody is a group of salespeople scamming businesses and consumers and making profit off Groupon without doing anything. Very shady! Aleasha Shipman Yoga Monkey & Fitness Indianapolis.

Read full review of Groupon.com and 38 commentsblackhawk ticket fraud
Back in November 16, 2011 when the Blackhawks not playing well I purchased (2) Blackhawk Party Packages which included a Club Level ticket, pregame party at Galleria Marchetti and Transportation for $110.00 each. The total was $220.00 for the pair of tickets which was the Christmas gift for my sons who are huge fans. I confirmed the reservation by e-mail on 12-16-11 and was given instructions on how to pick up the tickets at the pregame party.
Today I was very upset and disappointed to received an e-mail cancelling the reservation. When I contacted Groupon they were anxious just give me a refund. The price of the game ticket was about $60.00 when I purchased it (excluding the party). Since the Blackhawks on a winning streak, the price is now over $320.00 each. Isn't this fraud or ticket racketeering, they can easily sell my ticket for at a much greater profit now. I was refunded my purchase price but feel scammed since my sons are out their Christmas gift, this seems unethical and illegal. I can't afford this so I guess they will watch from home:( What a bunch a heartless jerks.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My husband and I did not buy each other Christmas gifts this year, in part because he was laid off from work. When I saw this deal on Groupon, I told my husband about it. We both enjoy watching the games and thought this would be a great time away and get our minds off the job situation, of course we thought the deal was a great price with the dinner and open bar that was included, and figured even though the seats were not going to be the greatest it was going to be exciting to be among the fans. So I was saddened when I received the email and had to tell my husband about the cancellation. After reading the above statements, the only positive thing I can pull from this situation is that we were fortunate enough to have received a cancellation notice well in advance of our game night.
We went to the "event" last night (Jan 2) and only got a sign in the window of Galleria Marchetti that the event had been cancelled. No answers from anyone at the time (Groupon, National Event Partners, Blackhawks). We bailed and caught dinner at The Twisted Spoke then went home to find an email from Groupon at 4:17pm saying the event was cancelled "due to unforseen circumstances".
Well, the email arrived 15 minutes after we were on the road. At least we're getting the $220 back, the wife left a nastygram with Groupon to see if they will comp my fuel costs for a 70 mile trip.
Sounds like National Event Planners and Galleria Marchetti are the weasels in this - if you can't pull together a simple event then don't be in the business!
Same thing happened to me and Groupon blamed the Blackhawks which when I called they said they had nothing to do with it. I think all of you should do the same thing I did and call the Blackhawks and complain to the Group Ticket sales department. They should be sued for what they did. They cost me a day of work and embrassment to my brother in law who flew up to see the game as part of his holiday visit.
funny
I also had a bad experience at the 12/26/11 game, and the entire deal was completely misrepresented. I contacted Groupon's customer service and they accomodated me and I am very satisfied with how Groupon handled it, after the fact. The problem isn't Groupon, it's National Event Partners. It is a company that is not even BBB accredited, yet still managed to get a grade of F by the BBB, and they were the ones on the day of the event who didn't even direct the long line of us waiting inside that we should go ahead in and get some food/drink; that the line was just for tickets; and National Event Partners are the ones who did not even secure real seats for people for the game, instead standing room only was made available. They misrepresented the deal to Groupon as far as I can tell.
Here was the email that I sent to Groupon regarding the same deal for the 12/26/11 game.
Hi,
I recently purchased two Groupons for the Chicago Blackhawks event on December 26th. The service that I received when I redeemed these groupons was extremely unsatisfactory and not worth the $110 per ticket that I paid. I would like a refund based on the horrible service that we received.
Let me explain:
The dinner at Galleria Marchetti was not nearly of the quality that described in the Groupon details. Groupon listed the details as:
Starting 90 minutes before the game, guests can imbibe premium liquors and select craft brews at an open bar and graze on a buffet that typically includes items such as sliders, salads, pasta, and prime rib carved in the shape of a sieve. A band gets fans in the mood to cheer with a rousing live set, and high-end shuttles will whisk fans to the United Center before the puck drops.
There was no salad, no prime rib. Instead we were offered sliders that were undercooked. The restaurant was running out of food before everyone had a chance to eat. There was not enough seating at the restaurant, so over half of the people had to stand while eating. There was no live band, just a DJ with inadequate sound equipment. We were met by long lines of unhappy people.
The "high-end shuttles" were nothing more than chartered buses, where the bus driver tried to cram us in like cattle. Our bus driver stated that we weren't leaving until the bus was full, and that included the aisle, so many people had to stand for the entire bus ride.
The most disappointing thing about the event was that most people were given standing room only tickets for the Blackhawks game. The Groupon said the tickets were for 300-level seats, however, that's not what most people received.
It is extremely unsatisfactory that I paid $220 for what was supposed to be a fun night, but it turned out to be a night from hell.
My email to Groupon support; I cced National Event Partners:
Hi Nicholas,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I appreciate that Groupon is processing a refund. I do have a few more questions regarding the incident Monday night that can help Groupon shed some light on what was a fairly traumatic experience. This was, as you know, not just a $10 deal for burgers; it was a $110 deal, and I purchased 5 for my family, the day after Christmas. It was a gift for my siblings and my parents, and being yelled at and told we would not be getting the tickets we had purchased was quite unsettling. I would appreciate some guidance on the following questions. Thanks.
We were told by representatives for National Event Partners that "Groupon did not pay us, so we do not have your tickets." Is this true? Because if it is, I have entirely lost faith in Groupon and will be sure to spread news of this utter failure to any current and future customers. Also, if this is the case, Groupon held on to and further invested my $550 for six weeks (I purchased on 11/14/11). Groupon is a publicly traded company, not the federal government; I expect, at a minimum, to be paid interest on the $550 that Groupon borrowed for that period.
The other scenario is this: National Event Partners lied to us. In this case, they are making off like bandits with Groupon's money, and need to be prosecuted, fined, and have their business shut down.
As I mentioned, if this were a less expensive Groupon, with less money and time invested, I would be completely satisfied with a full refund. But this isn't the case. And I'm sure that the Blackhawks fans that traveled many miles from far-flung suburbs, paid for gas and parking and hotels, and also received the kind of offensive, unfair, and insulting treatment at the hands of Groupon and National Event Partners, would agree with me. Further discussion of this embarrassing "deal" can be found here.
I appreciate your answers and look forward to hearing from you.
I bought my 2 tickets (a Christmas present) when only 70 were sold (6 weeks ago) and it ending up selling out at 240. I received an email from National Event Partners exactly 26 hours and 40 minutes before the event telling me that Groupon hadn't filled their obligation. When I called Groupon, they said that National Event had oversold the event. I did everything I was instructed to do by National Event Partners and have a confirmation email stating that I had confirmed reservations. Now they want me to "believe" that 240 seats at the United Center aren't going to be filled and the Galleria Marchetti bought food for 240 people that won't be showing up because Groupon "didn't fill their obligation"? My favorite part of this whole fiasco is that National Event Partners suggested in their email that I book directly with them in the future! Fat chance.
This is a summary of my experience:
I had a similar experience for the game on 12/21/11. I had sent in my reservation more than the 48 hours required, however 20 hrs before game time I had received an email from National Event Partners (Groupon Ticket Partner) that I had no tickets and I could choose a game in March. Well after speaking to a customer service, they stated they would look into it and call me back. Guess what, no call back so I called back, and was to they didn’t have an answer and that once again they would call me back. After no call back for a third time, I called them. Now they stated they had tickets and I should go the pre game party. Well I showed up, and guess what, no tickets for me. The people handing out the tickets and checking people in were quite rude and told me “ The Groupon reps were Idiots” for telling me to come up here, as they (Groupon) only provided a platform for National Event Partners to sell their tickets and had nothing to do with tickets. Well after my experience I will never deal with Groupon or National Event Partners, as Groupon can’t be trusted to verify that their business partners are legit. I hope many find this to be useful and stay away from business from National Event Partners and Groupon
I think they overbook and hope people to reserve, and when all the people reserved well they were left scrambling. Simple if you sell tickets make sure you have them. HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRATICE AND UNETHICAL!
no compensation for accommodation and travel
I bought a cruise with Groupon to sail to the Bahamas with Celebration Cruises out of West Palm beach, Florida, on December 13th, 2011
The night before departure December 12th, 2011 I received a voice message on my phone that the cruise was canceled due to an airconditioning generator that broke. I tried to get on any of their other cruises no luck, was told I have to contact Groupon for refund and compensation for flights and accomodation. Got a clear impression because I was a Coupon client I had no priority, the guest service lady told me that a max of two nights will be compensated.
I contacted groupon and was told the best they can do is refund my money and give me a $50 voucher for future use. I tried to communicate which Celebration Cruises all i was told was that there will be no compensation what so ever for ant Flights, accommodation, travel, food nor inconvenience, what they offer was acruise at a later date.
Why are we as the consumers always at the losing end with these comapanies?
No compensation for my airticket or the fact that i was stuch in Florida. No compensation for accommodation and travel.
I bought a ticket for a restraunt with groupon. ordered a table for 6pm when we got there the restraunt was closed! Groupon wouldnt award us any compensation only a refund, they are greedy and dont care unless they get their money.
Did you buy your air ticket from Groupon?
now they are not even answering my emails
I ve made a purchase from the Belgian branch of Groupon ( a toy for my nephew). As it was not delivered, I called the customer service. I was told that I had to wait 21 working days. After waiting and still not getting delivered, I called them again. this time, I was told that the legal delay for getting a refund (2 weeks in belgiumP) had expired. now they are not even answering my emails. groupon stole approx. 100 USD from me.. I intend to sue them..
As a former merchant on Groupon, I can tell you they are a horrible company and not only do they screw over customers, but merchants as well. You are required to sign a non disclosure agreement, you must offer your deal at 50%-90% off what's on your website only to receive less than 1/2 of THAT, if customers don't read the fine print and request a refund for their voucher, the merchant is penalized and even shut down, they give no explanations or have any merchant support, you must wait weeks to get any answers (if you even get any), and they hang up on you if they get frustrated. Horrible company that rapes it's merchants and doesn't provide any customer service to them.
doesn't answer emails or phone
I ordered on the 1st sept 2 sofa beds £358 in total as I made a mistake ordering 2? I tried from the 3rd sept to cancel one of them, after numerous emails to groupon they have robbed me off saying that the company that are supplying the sofas owe me the money refund well I got through to the company crazypricebeds and spoke to PERSON! And was told that the company did not have my order and that groupon owe me the whole £358 back as there aren’t any sofas left, groupon don’t answer emails nor do they answer their phone in London what do I do?
personally they have a good idea but are just thick, stupid and conmen
I've had several Groupon deals cancelled on me, not to mention miss selling. I was bought a Kite Surfing Lesson, thankfully I called a head and the person running it confirmed it was flying a kite on the beach and I would go nowhere near the water. He said if I was interested in Kite Surfing I should save my money and do the full lesson! I've spend hours complaining to and about Groupon but they seem to be protected and nothing major has happened even though their own social media links are full of complaints. If you want a laugh send them an email complaining and then post on their Facebook page your issue. They will reply via Facebook within 30mins offering a tailored service to fix the problem and all you have to do is drop them an email. After two weeks of playing the game I never actually got an email just the promise in an open social media environment that they would help! I wonder why!
Groupon is an amazing idea but when you speak to retailers they say the deals are never realistic and they are forced to offer massive discounts that they know are unsustainable. In their T&Cs if you offer a groupon deal they can't offer another deal to any other customer! Yeah right, like Groupon have that much control over the world! I've experience twice myself that they have over sold deals and broken T&Cs only to blame the other company, I'm happy to send round all my evidence to people.
Great idea, run by idiots and unfortunately it looks like they are slowly doing more harm than good with their antics. As with other comments its only until you mention trading standards that they sit up and listen, I've also found that if you tell them that a colleague agreed and you have email confirmation they never check and do what you want otherwise you get a "computer says no" answer!
Personally they have a good idea but are just thick, stupid and conmen! Why over sell the deals, why lie to customers and why don't they solve the issues rather than worrying about their image on social media sites!
they are just looking for ways to exploit consumers
I paid $400 for the hotelclub vouchers via Groupon for nothing. I followed the instructions to register for the coupon before the expiry date(This is still WITHIN the validity date). But the voucher code was unable to proceed. so I tried for repeated times and failed. I looked for Hotelclub, they pushed me to Groupon. When i write in to Groupon, they...

Myself and 843 other people in Belfast bought a voucher for the local Aquarium which was to expire June 9, 2001. When I received my voucher in the mail, the expiry date had changed to April 9, 2011 without any notice. I asked Groupon about this and they said they had made a mistake and it was supposed to expire April 9, 2011.
You may think this was just a simple mistake, but these 'mistakes' are very profitable for Groupon, and here's why. Let's say someone bought the voucher and thought it expired June 9th, they don't check the expiry date on the voucher and don't use the voucher on time. Who gets the money from the voucher? Do they get a refund? Does the Aquarium get the money? Nope! Groupon keeps ALL the money from unredeemed vouchers! So these expiry date mistakes are VERY profitable for them.
Another Groupon trick is to oversell items. Last month Groupon Belfast sold 2000 vouchers for an overnight stay in the Millbrook Lodge. The problem? Millbrook lodge only has 16 rooms! What happens when people inevitably don't get booked in? If their vouchers are unredeemed Groupon keeps all that money. Overselling for services that people will never be able to get is also VERY profitable for Groupon. Beware!
Bought a voucher on 28 January for oakley sunglasses 23 of April now no glasses have emailed multiple times phoned multiple times been phoned company supplying sunglasses directly. But given one empty promise after another. groupon has now sent emails twice promising a refund first within 10 working days no sign of it complained again then emsol saying refund within 5 working days still nothing. I then I received an email again stating five working days for a refund then 6 minutes later an email saying no refund would be given as voucher redeemed by whom god alone knows as I have no money and no sunglasses 3 months later. Have asked to speak to manager multiple times there is never one available! Phoned visa as online purchases covered by them but no groupon has a great scam going as visa cannot get your money back like they normally could cause in theory they have supplied you with the voucher they cannot go after the company supplying product as payment wasnt made direct to them lovely legal loop hole they have found to scam money out of people AVIOD them at all costs
Bought voucher for Blazema hair and beauty course. Course very badly organised, no structure, no goody bag, no certificate, no kits available, basically no opportunity to try out any of the looks promised in the email. Different emails sent to different people with wrong venue details, so many people did not turn up. My friend and I both complained to Groupon and Blazema, no response from either, not even an acknowledgement, but Groupon have since advertised a nail course with Blazema. Never again!
With an array of daily deal businesses like GROUPON, LIVING SOCIAL entering the industry it is important to launch a platform for customer’s reviews and recommendations on these deals redeemed at local places. Business owners should be aware of how strong a marketing tool is the review and recommendation platform to reach sales and market the brand. Also consumers can bring in more value for the business. At COUPOPLACES http://www.coupoplaces.co.uk a new site allows customers to review their coupons at local places.
I purchased a deal for a torpedo rattan furniture set over 8 weeks ago. The delivery was supposed to be 3 weeks. Groupon have not been in touch with me and I am desperately trying to get my money back but finding it almost impossible. This company needs to be shut down!
absolutely disgusted about the Millbrook Lodge offer - has left a very bad taste in my mouth
I will never use or recommend groupon to anyone
I operate a horseback trail ride company on a small resort and spa in Bodega, Ca. The Resort and I teamed up to run a Groupon add because my horses eat rain or shine and winter is slow money flow in the winter. Anyway I have had a HORRIBLE experience with this company! When the Groupon was posted online whoever designed the coupon put in that our customers could upgrade to " outlaw mode" and get a wild west shoot out and a bubble bath. This is something we do not offer ever! That makes if false advertisement, and last time I checked that is illegal! When we contacted Groupon about this problem they simply told us it was a joke, NOT FUNNY! Being a separate business I decided to try to run a separate Groupon ad for my business, well that did not work out. They sent me a rejection letter saying they were to busy and to try again later. No thank you, after hearing more and more people that are having these problems and more I will NEVER use or recommend Groupon to anyone!
I ended up paying more than what groupon deal promised
I didn't realize that business owners got 50% taken off their profit. No wonder they tried to make it up out of me by changing terms, removing previous discounts/internet deal that had nothing to do with groupon. I ended up paying more than what groupon deal promised, got myself locked into a deal where the business owner and I no longer see eye to eye because we fought over terms being changed. At the end, business owners lose in all counts because customers like me (who got harrassed and pushed by business owners who try to recover profit) will not come back after the committment period. All the negativity generated from these initial transactions will come back to haunt business owners. RECOMMENDATION: don't use groupon. Bad deal at the end.
I will do a little happy dance when groupon etc is extinct
As a business owner, I can tell you that Groupon and other companies like it are laughing all the way to the bank...but that will end pretty soon. Yes, you must discount your product or service by AT LEAST 50% to be featured and they get your deal and company in front of thousands of people. They take 50% of the sales. We have used these companies to generate lots of foot traffic into our locations, but have found that these customers are hard to convert into long term customers and difficult to cross-sell to. They are tire kickers. Good for them, though. The consumer wants their great--practically free--deal. However, Groupon and their competitors are basically killing the geese with the golden eggs. The way it works is like complete exploitation of hardworking business owners who are trying to offer something sustainable. They'll tell you the price they want to offer your deal at. If you balk because selling 700 of them at that price will cause you to lose money, you will see that they run the deal with your competitor--causing a HUGE dent in the demand. This is not good for you or your competitor--who also most likely feels totally held over a barrel if they don't do this deal--because someone else will. It's gotten to feel like price fixing, blackmail, etc. The good news is that I totally believe this situation is not sustainable. While our company (a medical spa) has always treated the clients we service through Groupon and the like with the absolute same respect we treat our other clients, I can see through the bad reviews that this is killing merchants and irritating consumers. I will do a little happy dance when Groupon etc is extinct.

fraudulant credit card charges
On Sept. 18th I purchased a 50% off coupon for the Gap($50.00 coupon for $25.00). When I found I had to wait 3-4 days for the email coupon I immediate requested a refund. I was responded to quickly and the charge hit on the 22nd and a credit was posted on the 23rd.
This was all good, but then on the 24th I received a call from Capital one due to unusual charges to this same card. They started on the 22nd and the Groupon charge appeared again, then there was a Pizza Hut charge, 2 Skype charges (15.00 ea), 2 Netflix charges and more. I do not use Skype phone and I am not a Netflix Memmber and have not been to a Pizza hut in 15 years. Then after the card was canceled on the 24th there was another email for Groupon saying they could not process my order due to the card being declined.
Groupon had a severe security breach or they have an untrustworthy employee in charge of confidential information.
Groupon just deleted my account without my knowledge.
I have a Groupon I haven’t used yet.
This is unacceptable!
I was overcharged for 3 items I did no order. Have been trying to cancel since I received the confirmation. And Have not been able to communicate with any one person that will help me.
i bought a voucher from this company,
they will not answer their phone or e mails for an appointment. I have tried for 2 weeks. If you read the comments for them they are all negative, others say the same thing that they will not answer their phones for appointments,
Groupon Deleted my account with no warning and kept my money!
My email is robinsonjoann354@gmail.com.
This problem occurred when I filed a complaint with the better business bureau about my Groupon bucks.
Groupon deleted my account and used my groupon bucks without my consent. I get on my groupon which i've had for years to log in and it says my account doesn't exist but im still getting emails. When i traced back, whoever hacked my account or groupon themselves bought e-gift cards to krispy kreme.
It appears that my account has been wiped out without notification nor consent; I am supposed to have a credit of 94.05 and 35 dollars on my account which do not appear, also the account does not show the Groupons previously used, customer service via live chat not email is not respondent.
you currently have a GROUPON for a Quentz Bilingual Academy, but after I purchased this I reached out to them. They are really rude, and continue to not answer all of my questions. When I asked them to call me to discuss they said they had no time. I then told them I had the GROUPON and they basically told me it was NOT VALID.
Is this for real?
I got voucher from blue ocean restaurant through GROUP ON
But I couldn't find on my group on .
Please advise
I am extrememly disappointed. No photos were ever allowed or asjed to br uploade yo personalize. I have already done all i can through both pinterix and groupon!
Fix my orders!
