customer service
For a Christian based store, I had a very unchristian like experience yesterday.
Our church is having an Easter candlelight service. So, I went to the Gastonia. NC Hobby Lobby is purchase votive candles. They carry a box of 12 votives for $7.99 ( price printed on the box, not an attached sticker).
Understanding their 40% coupon (one per customer per day), I went on three different days to make a purchase. I paid $5.11 a box on each visit.
Saturday I went to the same store to purchase another box. On them now is a yellow "sale sticker" for $7.99 on the box. When I got to checkout I was told I could not use the 40% coupon since the item was "on sale". On sale for the same price of $7.99? I don't understand.
When I questions this the clerk checked with a supervisor who tried to tell me they usually sell for $11.99. I don't think so! She in turn asked the manager if I could use my coupon and he said no. I tried to show them my receipts from earlier in the week, but they weren't interested.
I frequent this store on a regular basis and can't begin to tell you how many items decorate my home from Hobby Lobby. What a disappointing experience this was.
Needless to say I left the store without the votives and will be making my purchase elsewhere.
It is dishonest to mark a regular priced item "on sale" for the very same price! Where is the Christian example here!
behaviour
On march 14th, 2018 I told the cashier I wanted the red bench that was $99. She paged for the lady in charge. When I told her it's the red bench on the second shelf. She made a sigh. Well we don't have any men here now. So she got another sales lady to help. They put the bench where I checked out. Then left... The sweet cashier said I don't know how heavy the bench is. You can drive closer to the door. Needless to say, when I got back into hobby lobby nobody was there to help! If I didn't want that pretty red bench so bad I would have gotten my money back and then left! I hope I will get a big discount! Or even a gift card! As my 87 year old dad says... Customers are always right! I guess I will find out...
falsely accused of shoplifting
On the 5th of this Month, December 2017 I was shopping at My Lake Havasu City Hobby Lobby in Arizona.I had several items in my shopping cart and had asked for assistance twice from two individuals who seemed to be hovering busily around me and acting strangely, they were very helpful and soon lightened their initial mood as is usually the case when strangers realize that though I often shop in my work clothes and because my occupation is mainly manual labor I am not uneducated or inarticulate and also quite polite, We even shared a few chuckles.
Around fifteen minutes into my shopping I was approached now by two uniformed Police officers who asked if I had anything in my pockets from the store as well as some irrelevant inquiries about what I planned to do with the Art supplies in my basket I was buying. They then told me to go to the back where they explained that I was recorded 10 days earlier stealing and showed me video of Myself reaching into my hand held shopping basket then putting something in my pocket presumably my car keys or phone though I don't remember which, then putting something on a nearby shelf, it was closing time and I felt bad for not putting an unwanted item back where I got it from as I Always do as a rule but I was rushing and laced it down. I told the Officers and the Manager who was no longer playacting and patronizing that I hadn't stolen anything from the store at anytime and asked what it was I was accused of taking, they indicated some small boxes on the desk and said around twenty dollars worth of merchandise, I was asked to confess and after I told one officer my social security number pronouncing the nine as "niner" and confirming when he asked that I was former military he then insults my service and my word by saying how it wasn't very honorable to lie about stealing or some similar comment . They asked me if Id like to continue shopping though I was forever trespassed from the store, I said I wasn't in much of a shopping mood anymore.
I realized that nothing I said now would matter as they had all made the judgement I was a thief regardless of the truth that I Am innocent. I was written a citation as I sat in the back of a police vehicle and given A sheet of paper from Hobby Lobby saying I was caught commitment retail theft, what a bad Joke.
This has disrupted my life and my good name, the local news paper in my town lists the names of anyone who is cited or arrested but never follows up to find out if the person was innocent. I intend to have Legal counsel to fight this enormous imposition and potential scar on my record and dignity.Corporate Hobby Lobby should review their films and drop any and all charges against me, if this is not made right and I don't receive an apology and dropped charges I will pursue a lawsuit against hobby lobby with all my resources
For as long as it takes to get Justice.Though they will not have to lift the banishment, I obviously will never set foot in a Hobby Lobby again.
check out at store
I recently moved to the rocky mount, nc area after buying a new house with my family. As any women would, i've spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars at your store these past few weeks. Today I went to buy a few more things and spend even more money. After collecting my items I went to check out, and I was brought to a women named wanda. She was nothing but miserable and gave nothing but attitude and made my expirence with hobby lobby the most unplesant yet. Such a horrible expirence that if I could return all my items I bought prior I would return them all! She even made me feel like I was stupid for asking a simple question, as to if I could have her scan an item for me, because it was on the heavier end and she told me cocky "we don't scan items here". After this expirence I will never be back to your store.
christmas tree
Purchased Christmas Tree in November/December 2014, warranty of 3 years on tree and lights. Tree was a gift and purchased with multiple gift cards. After 2 years, lights went out on the bottom of the tree and I contacted the Lawrenceville, GA store about a replacement. The store manager told me that it was up to the manufacturer to replace the tree. After multiple email, phone calls, pictures of the box, the tree, and the documents proving the tree was from Hobby Lobby, 2014, they requested proof of the gift cards used for purchase before allowing any replacement. Of course, no one keeps copies of redeemed gift cards as proof of purchase and Hobby Lobby stated that there was nothing that they would do to honor the warranty.
What was supposed to be covered under said warranty?
my interaction at the store with the sales clerk
I saw a 50% off sign for the product I was going to purchase. When I told the woman who was working the register she said it's not on sale. I proceeded to tell her the sign said so. It wasn't listed on her sale list. I asked her will she honor it and it was a hard no. She basically accused me of lying about the sign in the first place rather than have someone check on it. But I guess it didn't matter because she wasn't going to honor it. I am very upset. I loved hobby lobby and have never had a bad experience there. I shopped there almost once a week for my illustration and craft supplies. I am shocked at the attitude toward me.
christmas
I hate to sound unkind, but it has gone on for three years and it's gone on too long now. I am an interior decorator with an establish 20yr company. I custom design many many houses for Christmas in the Houston Area. There used to be three stores in Houston that carried my design needs for these homes. Hobby Lobby was one of them. Unfortunately, for the last three years your buyers have bought the same exact items. Nothing new. The glass blow old world Ornaments...the same selection, floral sprays...same selection, horrible ribbon..same selection ( the ribbon is so bad that I hear ladies complain constantly that the selection looks horribly cheap compared to 4-5 yrs ago.) Everything is the same that there is no reason to keep shopping there. Hobby Lobby was such a fun place to shop for well made, trend forward accessories for the holidays but lately is just been boring and redundant. I hope your buyers actually get this note and it's not discarded. I love supporting your company but have found it difficult to do so in recent years!
Thank You for listening,
Deborah Braid

Hi Customer Service,
I am a faithful customer of Hobby Lobby and yet not been disappointed! Until now! My son went in your Hobby Lobby store in Redlands California in December 22, 2017 and purchased me ! My Christmas gift. My son is an active military serviceman in The United States Navy, when paying for the merchandise he kindly ask for a military discount and was told your company does not offer military discounts . Which is absolutely disheartening. Michael's Craft Store and JoAnn's Fabric Store all honor military discount . You are a Christian base Store! Which should be more than willing to give our veterans thanks for their service for willing to fight for your freedom. I believe as what Hobby Lobby stands for, Which is God's word . and this Nation which stand One Nation Under God. Then you should honor our veterans of the United States of America 🇺🇸.
Sincerely,
Mrs.Gomez
very lazy employees, the worst customer service ever
I rarely experience nice costumer service at my local Hobby Lobby store. Me and my wife and relatives shop here literally everyday because our small business depends on the duck fabric prints available at Hobby Lobby. They are always out of the popular ones and don't order them on time. The person in charge of inventory needs to be fired immediately. Sometimes we have to wait a whole week for new rolls to arrive and when they do they take forever to stock the store. We have to drive 30 minutes away to the Cedar Rapids Hobby Lobby to get the prints. We also rely on their unfinished beads. One time my wife asked if they had those beads, they said they arrived but they didn't stock yet!
They are extremely slow on the cashier and most are very rude and hate their lives.
The manager is extremely rude and make us feel unwelcomes.
We hate shopping there and we are currently looking for an alternative source for our duck fabric.
unethical behavior
On December 2nd, 2017 I went to my local Hobby Lobby located at 6115 Pinnacle Pkwy. in Covington, Louisiana. I frequent this location due to its convenient location to my house. I've never had a problem here before until this day.
I'm 6 months pregnant and went to purchase items for my daughters' nursery. Given the 50% off sign right next to the items we purchased (wall flowers), both myself and my Mother purchased these flowers. Upon checking out, we went to two different cashiers to speed up the check out process. Her cashier honored the 50% off on the flowers, whereas mine did not. Upon questioning my cashier as to why this is, I was responded with extreme ugliness. The cashier told me to "prove to her that's what the sign said" by walking all the way to the back of the store to take a picture of the 50% off sign. I thought that was a little unnecessary, given the fact they had already honored the discount to my Mom. The cashier, JANET, presumed to belittle me and embarrass me in front of other customers to make her point. Whether she was right, or I was right, I didn't deserve to be yelled at and mocked. I also didn't deserve her throwing my items around with an obvious attitude and offering no help. I never got the 50% off discount, but instead left the store with my items, very upset and embarrassed. The customers behind me in line were just as appalled at her behavior as I was. The entire experience is completely uncalled for and I would really like to speak with someone further about it. I went to this store, excited to complete my daughters' nursery, but making your customers and expectant mothers cry is definitely not good for business.
misleading sales signs throughout store
The store has sales signs every where. Today they had 50% off signs above shelves of products. I picked out items right below the signs, thinking I was getting 50% off. When I got to the register, the clerk said some of the items aren't on sale, because they are not made of particular materials. I had picked out some decorative switch plates that were right below the sign, but the clerk said they are made of resin not metal or wood, so aren't for sale! How am I suppose to know what materials they are? It's a ploy to get you to buy it once you're checking it out. I refused to buy items that weren't on sale, so left them with the clerk. It is misleading advertising to say the least. And they call themselves Christians...what a joke!
candy molds
Let me begin with:. I have used your oblong candy molds for several years and have been very pleased with this product. I have recommended these molds to all my friends. Recently I purchased 6 new molds for making candy. Imagine my surprise when the molds broke during the first batch and I had to make the rest the old fashioned way by breaking it into bite size pieces. I am very dissatisfied, since I usually make at least 20 batches during the Christmas season! Sorry I did not keep my receipt, because I have had no problems in the past with my purchases. Guess in the future I will keep them for returns! I realize this is my error for returning this product or getting a refund! I will look elsewhere for this item, related to changes or poor craftsmanship. Very disappointed!
Yes! please take your product back to the store and get an exchange, even without a receipt. I work for Hobby Lobby in Indiana and we utilize that practice often.
Best regards
Have you tried to see if they will provide a replacement since you no longer have the receipt? It's doubtful, but it doesn't hurt to try.
customer services in crystal lake, illinois
Hi to whoever read this letter,
I recently went to Hobby Lobby with my fiancée shopping for our first Christmas tree together in our first home that we closed a few months prior. We made a big purchase mainly on Christmas ornaments and was excited to dress our tree together. After shopping for the ornaments, we went to check out. The cashier was super friendly, and she asked us about who is the police officer and a nurse? I pointed out that I'm an occupational therapist and my fiancée is a cop in this city that we live in and his mom is an RN. She was so happy and thanked my fiancée for serving our community and shake his hands. We went home extremely happy with an amazing customer service we just had. After we dressed our tree up, we realized we purchased too many ornaments in a certain color and not enough of other color ornaments for our tree. I returned to hobby with a receipt and ready to purchase more ornaments in another color, and one of the items wasn't on it. So, the cashier called for the manager and hoped to fix it. I have worked in retail for many years where I handled a lot of transactions especially with returns, so I'm familiar with the return policy. The manager came and gave me a look up and down and then said she will be back as she quoted, "after looking at the camera." I was confused, but I continued to be polite and pleasant and said, "Okay, sure. Usually, if it's not on the receipt, it'd be store credit." She looked at me and didn't say a word. She went in the back and spent approximately 15 minutes before she came back. She came back to me and handed me the receipt and said, "oh the cashier shake hands with some gentlemen you were with and didn't ring you up for it" In a mean tone. I looked at her and said, "oh, so there was a mistake on the cashier's part." She looked at me rudely without owning up apologizing for the mishap from the cashier. Instead, she took the item without further statement and walked away. The cashier gave me the receipt and mouthed awkward in front of everyone that were standing in the line for 15 minutes because the manager had to look at the camera for a box of ornaments ($9 dollars). I held my composure and walked out of Hobby Lobby emptied handed and felt like I was a horrible person. I drove home and sat down in front of our new Christmas tree, and I broke down in tears. I felt that she went to the back to try to see if a store theft was the case and didn't even apologize for the cashier's mistake or offer a gratitude for returning it. I have never felt this way before or stare at in a certain way. I never had my retail manager in 5 years of working as a cashier in customer services have them say, "Let me look at the camera." Or make any customer feel like they're racially profiled. To any customer ever. I am extremely discouraged to continue my shopping experiences at Hobby Lobby.
Sincerely,
Jenny
returning items — would not accept everything back
On Mar 21, 2017 I purchased $170 worth of items. On Mar 30th, I returned 2 items and got my credit card credited for that amount. On Sep 8th (which yes I realize I am now after the 3 month window) I tried returning the remainder of the items that my husband decided he did not want to go in his "man cave". I was met with a very cold, sorry but we will only accept the items that are still current items (meaning not discontinued). Also you will only get a Hobby Lobby gift card since you are past the 90 day window...if our manager agrees to do that. So as I wait for the staff to figure out what items are current and not current, I am steaming over how this is being handled and thinking about how many thousands and thousands of dollars I have spent in this store over the years. I have returned items in the past that were beyond the 90 day window and not still current without any issue b/c the manager has seen me in there and knows how much I shop there. And how is it exactly that these items are discontinued 6 months after buying them? Anyway, the verdict comes back that I have 4 items that are not still current and they will not return for credit or do anything with them. They will give me credit for the remaining items that are current. So I get a Hobby Lobby gift card for $61.52. I am fuming mad about this and even spoke to one of the supervisors who has seen me in there over the years and expressed how disappointed I am in how this was handled and she was as cold as a cucumber and almost appearing to laugh at me. I still have all of my receipts and as I am checking them right now, I just now noticed that I was shorted $19.99+tax on an item that was returned that never was included in the gift card I was given. So there's $20 down the drain that I'll never get back. I have all of my original receipts still in hand plus the 4 items that were refused. I will attach pics of those 4 items as they are nice items that I know would sell very well and quite easily in Hobby Lobby stores. The 4 items I have in my possession are attached. Steaming mad in AL about Hobby Lobby!
You are being unreasonable. Just because they made exceptions for you in the past does not mean you are entitled to them now. I am sure there are plenty of other customers who have spent large amounts of money that have not had any exceptions made for them. You should be grateful for what you received in the past. 90 days is well past what the majority of retailers would accept and rightfully so.
checkout
Let me start by saying I really like HobbyLobby. Today I had 1 item to return simply because I already had the product at home. Got in line. Two checkouts open. I had one person in front of me and unfortunately the lady at checkout in front of her had 4 separate return transactions which for some reason took a long time. The other checkout also had a problem. The line started growing so two more lanes were opened. I was too close to checkout to move over to the newly opened lanes as everyone in the back of each line moved over more easily than I could. Eight people who got in line AFTER me left the store before I was checked out.
This is unacceptable. Had I been buying you would have lost a customer. I would have laid my merchandise down and walked out.
Suggestion: change your 4 lines into one line with the same 4 checkouts so that the next person up simply goes to the first checkout that opens up. Like Kohl's and other stores. Like the airlines do to check passports. I even had one customer mouth good luck as she walked out. Again, not acceptable.
Forgot to mention this was in Jefferson City, MO.
Would be nice to hear a response.
Thank you,
Sheila Allen
trying to purchase a pillow from a sales bin
I was at my favorite store...Hobby Lobby in Poughkeepsie, NY...I found the perfect small white fuzzy pillow in a sale bin and brought it up to the register with my other purchases. The girl said she would have to send someone back to make sure of the sale but there was nobody on who could do that. Then another lady who works there came by and said that pillows were not on sale.'
I felt that for good customer relations, they should have believed me or should have asked me to show them where I got it.
I left the pillow and felt really bad especially because I had brought a new customer with me and it was NOT a good experience.
I had toted Hobby Lobby as a Christian organization...so I felt that the sales girl really could have been more concerned about the customer than the money for the pillow.
Christian or not, Hobby Lobby is a business first and foremost. Did you ask if you could show them where you got the pillow? Is it possible they were put in the bin by mistake or by another customer? Unfortunately they cannot just take your word for it as there are many individuals who try and get discounts illegitimately this way.
customer service
I am member of Refugio quilt guild I visit the Victoria store recently and was badly mistreated a cashier open a register to wait on one person and only that person that was rude and unacceptable I called customer service corporate office and was assure the situation has been handle I hope that this cashier realize her mistake and I feel I am owe an apology from her and the Victoria hobby lobby our guild can easily go to Joann in corpus
I was shopping at hobby lobby in Victoria TX and a cashier open up and only waited on this person it would be different if she was currently open but no she just did it for her
cut finger
While shopping at Hobby Lobby, Dickson City, PA, I reached back on a shelf to get the last spool of lace. When I did, there was a straight pin holding the lace onto the roll which stabbed my finger. It immediately started bleeding. The woman that was cutting material all but ignored me when I asked if she could help me. There was quite a bit of blood dripping down my hand. Thank goodness for another customer who offered me a bandaid. I put it on tightly to stop the bleeding and cleaned my hand with some tissues & hand sanitizer. I also mentioned the cut to cashier who also ignored me. Cut is healed and only a small scar but I am now getting extreme itching and tingling in that spot. Perhaps if your employees responded with some first aid and peroxide, I wouldn't have this discomfort.
reimbursement for defective product
This past Tuesday evening, Oct 10, 2017, I stopped by one of the local Hobby Lobby stores (Arnold, MO/Store #408) in my area with my daughter to return an item I had purchased on June 20, 2017. I knew before going to the store where I had made my purchases (over $200 in the month of June) that the 90-day return policy had expired on September 20, 2017. However, the item that I bought, after trying to hang it, I consider to be defective. After many attempts (visits to the hardware store and hardware purchases) to find the right whatever to hang the dog gone thing, I came away with many holes in my wall and frustration. It is a product that shouldn't be on the shelf unless it comes with instructions as well hardware to hang. I even took it to the local Schaefer Hobby Shop to enlist their help. No one there could figure out what to do with it. I thought about mounting it to a board, but then again the same problem exists. You can't line up screws to manipulate a screwdriver because the bicycle is in the way. There has to be a clear path in order to affix the hardware needed to hang what I thought would be a great addition to my house. I thought I would be given store credit at 100%, but after three of the workers there pulled their heads together to evaluate how they were going to treat this issue they decided that they would refund me 50% I told them no thanks.
floor messes
I shop the mt. vernon illinois hobby lobby quite often. It used to be neat and organized but lately it is a disaster. For the past few weeks there have been boxes of merchandise all over the store and carts of stuff everywhere. I understand they work hard to get everything out but that doesn't seem to be the case lately. I went in for Styrofoam balls and had to go buy them at walmart due to the section being blocked by boxes. The area is unstoppable. I also noticed long lines at checkouts. I don't know if this store is short handed or just busy. I hope they get everything in order as I love this place and am glad to see it in our area.
