purchased chicken caesar salad in deli dept and lettuce had a clump of dirt on it.
May 24, 2017
I purchased a chicken ceasar salad in deli dept before heading to work, so I could have it for lunch. I opened the salad and when I took the pack of croutons out It was a piece of lettuce with a big clump of dirt attached. I was very disguised, because this was not the first time that I had an encounter with buying food that was not prepared sufficient to being sold to the public, as I have health issues and eating some with that magnitude of dirt could have caused other problems. I was not able to eat because that was the only lunch I had and I had to wait a time before I got food. I like shopping at jewel foods but I do not at all appreciate the slackness that's put into making sure the consumers are safe eating products that are prepared through your company or vendors.
I have know update as of now
jack fruit
I bought a jack fruit at the gurnee, grand avenue location on sunday may 21 morning. I paid around $ 10.00 for it (It was on the smaller size and the cost was 77 cents per pound)
It got rotten very quickly (On monday itself and I had to throw it out. Unfortunately I could not return it to the store as I live in wilmette and I had also thrown out my receipt - I have never had to return any item to jewel osco before so I normally do not keep the receipts.
I am hoping for either a store credit or refund

expired food
I was shopping at jewel osco In Carol stream location with my mom and I. I found expire food on shelf. Like from April 2016 and other date. I told the manger and she said she get someone do it. Still nobody did anything. This wasn't the first time it happened. I found ranch that expire, pizza crust, BBQ sauce the baby rays, and milk and other stuff. I think they should recheck the store before having a grand opening. I was very upset. I hope you guys do something. Because I got food posik from product before and that was no fun. Please look at date before stocking. And make sure you do something. Thank you!
management
5/17/17 I went to the local Jewel Osco at 1860 S Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL to fulfill my raincheck for lotus - quantity of 10lbs entitled to us on the raincheck. They only had 4lbs available when I came back in. I asked them to reissue a raincheck for the remainder 6 lbs or cross out the 10lbs and write 6lbs because I was purchasing the remainder 4lbs they had this time. They said no and that the raincheck needed to be used at one time. The only reason we couldn't use it at one time was because THEY RAN OUT OF LOTUS AGAIN. Is it my fault that this Jewel Osco ran out of stock and I could not fully fulfill my raincheck quantity?! Kirk (the manager) and cashier were so rude! The cashier seemed lazy and not knowledgable on how to use the system. She also kept confusing my jack fruit with my lotus! I understand that she may not be familiar with the produce you have in stock (or out of stock I should say for this situation), but it is no reason to be rude! Kirk seemed to be avoiding us when the cashier was trying to call him. When he finally came after pretending not to hear the cashier calling for him, he said they would not honor the request to reissue a raincheck for the remaining 6lbs of lotus on my raincheck or cross out the 10 lbs and write 6lbs since I was only able to get 4lbs as they were out of stock again. I don't even think he bothered to hear the situation - he just said no in 2 seconds. This IS NOT EVEN THE MAIN PROBLEM I HAVE with the scenario! When he said he would do it this time only, the cashier kept muttering - "why are you doing this? I thought we weren't supposed to do this." Ok, in what kind of situation is it appropriate for a cashier or any sort of customer service employee to behave this way in front of a customer? AND ON TOP OF THAT - KIRK ( THE MANAGER) HAD THE NERVE TO SAY "WE AREN'T SUPPOSED TO DO THIS. I'M JUST DOING THIS BECAUSE I'M OUT OF PATIENCE HERE". THE MANAGER OF JEWEL OSCO 1860 S Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL SAID THIS IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. What kind of customer service is this?! I was so appalled! Instead of getting into a fight in the store about how MANAGEMENT should treat customers and give them a lesson on basic customer courtesy, I decided I needed to contact people who can actually correct this kind of behavior! IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
mymixx coupons
I went grocery shopping last night. When I went to check out, I tried to enter my MyMixx number in order to use my online coupons, and get the charges added to my account for points toward gas rewards. Their system crashed and they were unable to enter my MyMixx #. I would like $6.25 in coupons I was unable to use reimbursed, and the charges for gas rewards added to my account ASAP.
Thank you
tortilla chips
The local jewel makes the most amazing torilla chips. However, the last 3 times I bought them, they have been stale. They are made in store. I check the date to ensure they are still good, but they always taste stale. What's the issue. I always bought Them in the past and they were delicious. Do they over cook these torillla chips, or are they letting them
Sit on the shelf too long? I usually buy the feesh made in store
Chips because they taste better than others.
water prepaid advance store special order. no water received
We are shocked and appalled as loyal paying customers with Jewel Osco for over 20 years the Hickory Hills store would take our money and promise to supply the water which was advanced payment for on April 14, 2016 with Laura at the service desk. Colette Hurd and I placed a special custom order. We both paid individually in advance for 36 cases of Ice Mountain water for 12 ounce 12 packs for a combined total of 72 cases of water for a family reunion. We also used coupons. Laura combined the orders. We have showed up in person three times, called the store several times and called customer service on many occasions reference [protected] still no one ever called to say pick up your water it is ready ladies. I have prepaid for juices and waters at other stores by signing document verifying pickup. We have spoke to in person or via phone Josh, Laura, Michael all have promised to back. We spoke to at corporate office Sharlene, Kim, Danielle, Janet and Georgia, We have not received any call backs as to when our 72 cases of water would be available
Unfortunately, Colette Hurd nor I have ever gotten the 72 cases of water which we paid in advance to Jewel-Osco. We also never gave written authorization for Jewel Osco in Hickory Hills to give any individuals or organizations our consent to pick up water on our behalf. We want our water or money to buy 72 cases of water elsewhere.
employee/ customer dissatisfaction
Walked in trying to buy some flowers for a special someone on their special day. Waited 10-15 in the flower area to have the buquet put together. Asked employee who's name is Gorge if there was any one who can help me because I had been waiting for sometime and he rudely responded if there's someone there they would be there I asked if he can call someone and his response was he had just started his shift (in other words do not bother him) he turned his back and ignored me. Waited 30 min to speak with a manager. Whom didn't have the time to come speak with me. Walked out very disappointed no one was willing to help.
employee care
So I myself does not work at jewel. I went to Jewel in Eburn, IL to pick up an aux cord which they did not have. Besides the point as I was walking in I notice this 5 foot maybe 130 pound older women pushing carts in the 55 degree weather plus it was raining. The women was almost in tears. On top of that I could not find a manager to speak with. I also cannot find a corporate contact to speak too. You do not treat people like that and I am beyond livid I went and helped this lady push carts. Never going there again.
recrediting my card
I made two purchases at a Jewels Osco in Chicago, Illinois. The store is located at the Howard/Paulina train terminal in Chicago. One purchase was for $3.06 and the other purchase was for $4.33. I decided not to pick up these items, and I wanted this cash amount to be directly recredited back to my card. The cashier told me that she performed this action, but there is no verifiable prove within my account stating she did not perform this withdrawal. The store number is 02508. The cashier did not recredit my card, and I ask for this to be done now.
5 dollars sandwich (turkey cheese)
I bought 4/25/2017 around 4pm a 5 dollars sandwich (Turkey and cheese) in my way work and when I took my lunch break to eat I was lucky I opened the sandwich because I found a dead mosquito between cheese and lettuce. It was really disgusting and I couldn't eat and I didn't have none to eat in my lunch break.
I work in food manufacturing and I know the safety of customers and GMPs but here nothing was respected or inspected.
I have some pictures to support my complaint.

cashier rude and insulting behavior
I had an awful experience with the cashier at the express lane less than a week ago. He was beligerant, rude addressed me as "dude" and insulted me by stating that I should do my job and not worry about his when I asked him to please pack the itmes as he was processing them through the register rather than piling them up next to him, in order to avoid double charghing. He went into a fury and told me that he knows his job ( when indeed he had no clue what the heck he was doing) and that I should worry about doing my job etc..
I was utterly humilaited in a crowded store and he continued to address me as "dude mind your business etc." The story is too long to put in writing .
I am appalled that after I expressed my complaint to the store Manager Kevin Moran and described the event in question and that even a cashier standing near him at that time of the awful experience asked him to stop but he would not etc.. I asked the Manager to handle it immediately however it appears that nothing was done and he is still working for Jewel and being paid with the money that I spend there for the last 20 ++ years. I will not stop my quest until he is dismissed. I will not walk into a store and continues to try and avoid going to a register( as we did today again) for fear that he may insult me or my wife. I am asking for the second time to dismiss him and handle the matter now. I am disappointed that the store Manager humored me and evidently did aboslutley nothing to fix the problem, to dismiss him or to even compensate us except with his apology.
If you chose not to handle this matter I will proceed with legal action for defamatioin and etc. You know the drill. The Manager did not handle the matter by teaching him and the others that without us (the customer) you have no stores. We, personally, spend over $300 x week and I demand that action is taken now. There is a video showing teh cashier's actions and words.
I wait t for your reply and handling of the matter urgently. The Manager took this as a joke and I am utterly furious and insulted by it.
Handle it immediatly as thi sis a serious matter. In a seriosu company he would have never been hired to begin with. Period.
Thank you
Sincerely,
Mario Scozia
pharmacy
I realized you pharmacy systems were just updated. Honestly the rollout was very bad. I waited in line for 40 minutes only having to go home hours later then wait another 30 minutes in line with other impatient customers. I've been a loyal pharmacy goer for 20+ years. I love the staff, but honestly I'm questioning whether I should move on. I also had a experienced where I called in the prescription but it was found only to have to comeback once I provided the information. Wow...painful.
security
I visited the store in Chicago at 424 w division street to redeem two coupons for free donuts at the bakery. I showed the associate at bakery my coupons and she told me to get my donuts. Once I got them I was heading out the door and I am in a wheelchair a security guard yanked me and my assistant through the door and accused me of shoplifting . I was very shook up about it because he pulled on my wheelchair and I could have easily fallen out. The security guard was extremely rude and unprofessional. He didn't let me explain what happened or he wouldn't get the bakery associate. I was told that I was supposed to register the coupons which I did not know at the time nor did the lady at bakery told me. I was very upset because this disgusting security guard thought it was ok to grab at a handicapped person. I was shaking because the way he pulled me I was surprised by it. He even told us that we couldn't leave and he tried grabbing my chair again. This is not all but this is mainly what happened
Check cashing
Hi today I had a incident I felt that the store in sugar grove is racist 15 min b4 I drove from aurora to sugar grove I had finished speaking to Mary she told me that she would not be there but that they were other members that could help me Debbie was at the customer service desk I told her I had just finished talking to Mary about cashing my check she straight out told no I can't cash it without even seeing my check or listing to me and walked away I'm so mad at the fact they made me lose my time and gas after working 12 hrs at my job I still have to go thru this bull I'm not gonna leave it like this I'm going to make sure racism is stop
Product quality
I was shopping the Jewel at 1763 W. Howard Store# 2508 a few weeks ago and I purchased some taco shells I was completely disgusting when I opened up the package to find that the taco shells were completely covered in mold. It also ruined my dinner because I had everything set up and prepared for the tacos that I was preparing just to open the taco shells and find that they were inedible much to the disappointment of my family because we did not have any other shells so we had to scrape together a replacement meal but I was very surprised that Jewel would be selling moldy food in their store.
Employee
I have never experience the rudeness that I have experience today at Jewel Osco on 4042 W. Foster.
I was misinformed then was treated rudely!
I saw a sign for 10pcs nuggets for $1.99. I asked the Deli employee if there are any left. She told me to check the hot wing bar.
I saw some and took 10. When I went to checkout, the cashier rings up the hot wing bar. I told the cashier it is 10pcs nuggets and it was supposed to be for $1.99. The cashier called the Deli. I told her if it's too much work, forget it and I will pay for that price. I don't like misrepresentation as a business owner. If one price said something, it supposed to be that. Plus I was directed to the hot wing bar to get them. How am I supposed to know the price would be different? The sign I saw was different.
I just want things to be clear. The Deli guy came to cashier and gave her the price's sticker for $1.99. She asked if he putted the nuggets in the bag. I said I did. She said, "you know you have to pay tax and the service we provide."
Yes. I understand we must pay for the service but I was just trying to understand why the sign said 10pcs for $1.99. It did not said it has to be pre-packaged or anything.
I informed the cashier I saw the sign. She shook her head and rudely said no. She then said "you know you cannot pay for these or soup with link card." First of all, she saw I pulled out a credit card, not a link card. I calmly replied, " I do not have a link card." She then said "how am I suppose to know you have it or not."
I just walked away and went to the Deli to confirm why there is a sign for $1.99. The Deli guy explained the $1.99 is for the pre-packaged ones. How about I supposed to know that?
You don't know who the person is--don't be rude and made rude comments. Believe the consumer when they say something. Go look at the sign instead of rudely shaking your head and make unnecessary comments.
It is not about the price but it's about the transparency and accuracy of the marketing!
Wow! That Link card statement was WAY out of line! How ignorant!

I went to purchase 20 diet sierra mist and was told by an employee as well as the manager that I could only purchase 10. There were no signs up limiting the amount you could buy. No explanation was given, I was just told no! I spend thousands of dollars at your store. When I see the diet sierra mist while I am there I like to purchase what I can because I am a frequent drinker of it and only shop once a month. I offered to pay cash up front to have a pallet ordered the next time an order was put in to prevent taking the stores supply and again was told no. I understand people may buy supplies from other stores then resell them elsewhere however, this is not the case with me. I work for the local garbage company in Chicago. I drink between 5-10 2 liters within a week. I should not have to go from store to store to do my shopping. If there is no limit posted I should not be told there is a limit. The way the employee as well as the manager treated me was disrespectful and uncalled for. If there is a quantity limit on what your able to purchase your able to purchase then a sign should be posted. Its no different than being able to purchase 20 cans of corn. What is the difference between myself coming in and buying 10 then my wife entering behind me buying 10 then my daughter purchasing 10? A sale is a sale and jewel is making the same amount of money whether I buy 20 or I buy 10 then my wife buys 10. There is no difference!
Customer service
I was in the self checkout and had a coupon for a cake that was left unsold because of Valentine's day. The coupon was for 2 dollars off I scan it and the screen said to wait for assistance I waited for 5 min. No one came and I just decided to pay for it full price because the line was getting longer, and was not going to wait anymore. The only reason I got the cake was because of the deal and I was kind of angry that no one could come and help me. I love coming here to shop but will never buy another cake with a deal like that if I'm just buying full price for it.
Peach pie
Hello,
We recently bought a peach pie for a birthday party. After slicing the pie, we noticed it was not a peach pie but rather a strawberry rhubarb pie. I went to jewel to tell them of the mix up and I received a free peach pie. This time, there were hardly any peaches in the pie; it was mostly crust pieces. I will never buy peach pie from jewel again. This is simply not right. Thank you.
It sounds like there were a couple mistakes and that when you reported it the situation was handled properly. It happens.
