washer wont work correctly
I hate, hate hate, hate hate hate this stupid washer. My MIL has had an older maytag model for 15 yrs and swares by maytag but this is the worst washer ever. At first it would take 1hr or so to fill up with water if it was on cold. I lived with that for a yr. But now it just fills up empties then spins. It doesn't even agitate or rinse! It just clicks off!? I called Maytag and they want 100s of dollars to fix it. This machine is under 2 yrs old and it's just me and my husband not a whole lot of laundry I haven't used it to death! Ridiculous!

Burnt out capacitor
Purchase Maytag Centennial 4/07/11, wouldn't fill up with water on 2/27/14.Repairman came and told me I needed new capacitor, none in stock, week to 10 days. I was upset that a new washer would already require a part less than 3 years after I purchased it. What upset me more was seeing the condition of the old capacitor when the new one was installed. It had literally burned out from the inside. I have the part, and actual black plastic(?) had been leaking out of the part. I sent a letter to Jeff M. Fetig, Chairman and CEO, on 3/23/14, complete with pictures and asking for an explanation and if the washer could have caught on fire. No one ever contacted me, even though I sent a follow-up letter on 4/23/14. Disgusted with product, the company for not responding to a customer, and still worried about a possible fire hazard with their capacitors.

warranty not honored
In 2009 we purchase a Maytag home HVAC Heat pump/AC unit ($9000) that came with a 12 year parts and labor warranty. In 2014 the coil unit went out and costs $2000 to repair. When we tried to get warranty service we were told that Maytag contracts out the warranty service and that the original service company went out of business and Assurance Home Service was now the warranty provider. Assurance said they had re-written the contracts and were only liable for $190 worth of repairs. Maytag said I would have to work it out with Assurance. When I told Maytag that I bought a product from Maytag not Assurance and that Maytag should stand behind the warranty, they said it was not their problem. This is outrageous, how can a company like Maytag do this? If a company is able to do this, then no warranty will mean anything. I don't care who Maytag contracts to do their warranty service as long as they stand behind the warranty. How can they get away with telling people the warranty is not their responsibility when they market and sell the product with a 12 year warranty? I was never told that the warranty was only good as long as the service provider wanted to honor it and that they could stop whenever they wanted to. I will never buy another Maytag or Maytag connected product again and every chance I get I will tell people not to buy one.
ice door flapping, light flashing and refrigerator not working
I have a 25 cubic Maytag French Doors with Bottom FreezerSerial # 10872327JJ Model #MF12568AEQ. On Saturday March 8th, 2014 when I came home my ice maker door was opening and closing non stop and the lights were flashing. Then on Sunday the refrigerator quit working. I called Maytag which is by Whirlpool on Monday March10th. to get it fixed. I talked to Paul he said they would take care of it. Long story short. The appliance place said that part has been on back order for over 2 months to call Maytag back. I talked to Amanda she told me she would send out an alert for the part I should have it in 1 week. I called back again I was told I had to wait until April 30th. the part was on back order. I asked how long do they expect a person to be without a refrigerator they said there was nothing they can do about it. I said this has been an ongoing problem with these refrigerators for several years, that this is unacceptable that they should have the parts on hand they said there was nothing they could do and was there anything else they could do for me I told them I wanted another refrigerator they said I had to wait until April 30th it was to soon to replace it. Today is May 1st. I called again now they are saying they will rebuild me computer board in the refrigerator at least another week to rebuild the part not including waiting for the service guy to fit me in and bring it back. I will never by a Magtag product again and everyone that is or having problems call an make a complaint with your State Attorney General something needs to be done with this problem.

bad customer service
I have a Maytag washer and dryer that I purchased new. After my warranty expired, Maytag contacted me about getting a extended warranty contract. What a joke it's a big rip off. They take your money and don't cover nothing and I mean nothing. They ask you five hundred questions and then tell you they don't cover it. They talk to you like you are an idiot, and are very rude. Then when you tell them you want to cancel the contract, they tell you to write it in a letter. When you check back with them they never seem to get the letter. I am very unhappy with this whole situation and will never purchase any other products from your company.

dryer does not dry properly
My maytag dryer purchased about 1 year ago is not drying clothes properly. All clothes have a musty smell and don't feel clean.
My details are below:
Model #: MGDC200XWO
Serial #: M12016525
I am so disgusted with my clothes that I don't feel like visiting anyone..

burned out master board
Top line washer only last 18 months. Repairs are almost 1 / 2 of what the thing cost new. It is bad faith build such an appliance with undependable yet costly parts. It is sure an eye opener showing maytag does not live up to being dependable. Looking at the complaint board it is obvious they have turned out an inferior product and care very little that they put this type disposable product on the market. At the very least you would think that maytag would tag the thing cautioning the unsuspecting buyer on purchasing this item. I have owned a number of washer and dryers in my grown life, over the last 45 years, and this is the most shoddy built item i have ever purchased. There may not be any recourse but word of mouth will infect the willing buyers if we get the word out.
Yes their next washer will be called "The Nightmare" what a horrible thong to do to people! The Maytag man got terribly lonely so he had them build a piece of crop! Just dont even look at the junk! I wanted an unbiased opinion so I contacted a eBay washer parts salesman and he said to get rid of the unit I asked him what do you mean by unit he says the machine get rid of it right away
timer
My Maytag efficiency washer/water fill stops during a wash cycle. Doesn't matter which cycle selected. Turn it on and wait a few minutes to check on it and its not working. Push in the sstart button and pull it back out to start again. The washer legs are level and the hoses are height aligned properly. What could it be? However, the washer was purchased in 2009, November. Could it be just tired or old now.
centennial ecojunk
My Maytag Centennial Eco washer is also a piece of junk. It randomly started to drain and fill, and now it won't spin, to remove the water. The lid unlocks during the "spin" cycle, then it starts to refill again, after about a minute of not spinning. I wish I had done a little more research, before wasting money on this Chinese piece of JUNK. All of the fake responses by "Maytag" above, are never followed up by the upset consumers. Haven't read a single post, seeing the issue(s) resolved. Maytag has stolen it's last dollar, from my pocket. The Maytag repairman wasn't really lonely after all. he was physically and emotionally drained, after a day of dealing with the junk being sold as "washing machines", that are nothing more than glorified clothes wetters.

too many problems
Purchased our French Door Refrigerator in Nov 2012 from Home Depot. In August, our compressor had to be replaced and waited 10 days for a replacement. In the meantime, I lost over $200 worth of food and couldn't use refrigerator during that time. Last week, water started to pool under the unit and ice had formed in the bottom of the freezer. Problem was attributed to a clogged line. Just last night the icemaker stopped working. I called Maytag to request a replacement unit because of the problems, but was told that they had to fix them under warranty. I have lost too many days off of work for this issue on top of the cost of food lost. I called Home Depot to see if they would make it right, but they referred me back to Maytag so they do not stand behind their products. Neither Maytag or Home Depot were concerned that they have lost me as a customer.

unprofessionalism
I scheduled an appt. with A&E via Maytag customer service. First appt. was scheduled for Wednesday 8/21/2013 which I cancelled with a 24 hour notice and rescheduled for Friday 8/23/2013 from 8 to 12 am. I asked to please be contact 30 minutes prior so I could make sure I would be home since I have school age children that I drive to school. On 8/23/2013 I received an animated call at 7:51 am informing me that a technician was on his way and that I was the first stop. I arrived at my residence at 8:06 am to find a note saying "sorry we missed you" with an 8am time on the note.
First: I was never contact with the 30 minutes prior as I requested.
Second: When I got home and found the note, I called your customer service number and was informed that they were going to contact the manager to arrange for the technician to come back. I received a call at 8:38 am informing me that I had to reschedule my appt. even after I explained that I had taken the morning off to be here. I was told that the central Florida manager Alisha (no last name or ID was provided by the customer service representative) had not approved it and they told me sorry about my luck. Was redirected to another representative without asking anything. I was told that the technician that supposedly showed up at 8am was Thomas ID525105. I am in disbelief that national company as A&E serving one of the biggest appliance companies as Maytag would be so unprofessional and dishonest. Lacking all of the main components of customer service and satisfaction. I will never use your services again and I will never recommend anyone else to do so. I will be posting this on blogs and sending a copy of this complaint to Maytag so that they can find more professional people to deal with so their customers are not as dissatisfied as I was. From you "manager" Alisha all the way down to your "technician" Thomas lack professionalism, value for your customers, and honesty.

range cleaning system
Purchased new dual gas/convection range. Did not realize that the range had a new cleaning system, AccuClean. The stove has a cleaning cycle that goes to 200 degrees. You put water on the bottom of the oven and run the cycle. Supposedly there is a new surface on the oven walls so you cannot use regular oven cleaner. When the AccuClean cycle did not work there are no alternatives. I was told to run the clean cycle multiple times and it would eventually work. Unfortunately I did not read Consumer Reports which does not recommend this Maytag model MGR8775AW0. I suppose it is too late to return the range. What a disappointment. Hope this will warn others.

stopped cooling in less than 7 years
I purchased a French Door, Bottom Freezer refrigerator in the summer of 2006. Less than 3 years later the ice maker door kept opening and closing and the lights on the door panel kept flashing. I called Maytag and found out there was a problem with the circuit board and that it was under recall. The refrigerator was fixed at no charge and I was happy.
Approximately 2-1/2 months ago, less than 7 years after I bought the fridge, it started getting too cold inside and then too warm and then too cold, etc., then it stopped cooling altogether. From what I read it was either a problem with the compressor or the relay on the compressor. There was a recall on the relay on some models but not on mine. I can't even afford a service call let alone a repair charge. If the compressor is the problem, I'm looking at a repair bill in the hundreds of dollars. The online price for a compressor is over $300. I don't have the money. So the beautiful refrigerator that I paid $2, 000 for sits in the kitchen, unplugged. I never figured that I'd pay that kind of money for a refrigerator and have 2 major problems with it in less than 7 years. I just got off the phone with Maytag and, of course, they can't do anything to help me.
I was hoping to never buy another refrigerator but if I have to, or if I have to buy any other appliance, I will never, ever buy another Maytag or Whirlpool and I will post everywhere I can about my experiences with this refrigerator.
dirty clothes
I purchased this washer in the fall of 2012. I have been very unhappy with it from the start. It does not clean the clothes - plain and simple. Clothes come out smelling like they never were washed. Darks have streaks of white residue. Whites are dingy and smell. I've tried everything - switched detergents, pre-soaked, changed settings, turned up my water heater temperature. Also, the washer takes well over an hour to complete the wash. I feel like I have been completely taken advantage of. Please DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The Maytag Centennial washer is the worst washing machine I have ever had. The only way to get clothes even half way clean is to put it on the Heavy duty cycle. Also, after only three years of light use (single person) it does not spin to clothes out. After the cycle, you open the cover and the clothes are dripping wet. This is random, sometimes it works OK and the next time the clothes are wet. You have to run it through another spin cycle and then it seems to get out oh time.
SO disappointed in this machine. Wish I would have seen this board BEFORE I purchased the set. After reading all of the posts, I'm resigned to the fact that until I decide to spend another $900 on a set, I'm screwed. Will NEVER buy Maytag again...what happened to that reputation for quality? Oh, wait. I know. It got sold out to China (= crap for quality). Shame on you, Maytag.

doesn't get clothes clean
I have owned this Maytag Centennial washer/dryer set for about 3 years. This site has confirmed the issues I have been having with this washer and dryer pair. I was beginning to think it was just my imagination, but now I know it is not.
I have felt from day one that my clothes were not getting clean with this washer, and I have also found at times that there are portions of the laundry that did not appear to have gotten wet in the wash cycle. I too have stood at the machine to open the lid in order to get more water to fill the tub so the laundry would actually be submerged in the water in an attempt to get the laundry clean.
There have been times, especially recently, that I have put a load in, and gone to do other things, and come back over an hour later, and the laundry has not finished its cycle yet. Then there are other times it appears the whole cycle is extremely short. I thought it had something to do with whichever setting I had chosen for the load, but the time it takes seems to vary even within several loads using the same setting.
As far as the dryer goes, ever since I purchased this dryer, I have had problems with items being damp after taking them out of the dryer, even when they have been in there for what I think is a good length of time (determined by previous dryers I have used). If they are not noticeably damp, and I put them away, and don't use/wear them for an extended time, once I take them out, there is a very significant rotten egg smell to them, at which point I have to rewash to get the smell out.
I have never had this happen with any other dryers I have used. At first I wondered if it was the water, since I had moved prior to getting this pair. But eventually I realized it was the fact that the items don't get completely dry (and yes I have tried extending the drying time, but still this happens). So now, I hang everything up for a few days before putting anything away. That somewhat defeats the purpose of using the dryer.
I too thought buying a Maytag would be a guarantee of a good product, but I will say if I had to do this over again, I would not purchase this pair or rely on the Maytag name as an indicator of quality. Next purchase I make, I will go strictly by reviews and not product brand.
Frustrating to do a load of laundry only to find they don't smell clean, are sometimes dry, and most of all the same dirt is on there that was there when you put it in?! Washing a second time does no good. I used to be a huge fan of Maytag. Not anymore.
poor quality products
I have a Maytag Refrigerator, Stove, Washer and Dryer. I used to believe Maytag meant QUALITY which is why I bought my appliances from Maytag. Not only is Maytag no longer a Quality product, they don't care about their customers. It would appear they manufacturer appliances to last 12 months and after that watch out for the repair bills. I bought my washer and dryer when I retired two years ago and the washer already requires over 4800.00 in repairs! I also have spent over $400.00 on my refrigerator in the same time period. It does not get used that much and has worn out already. I bought Maytag so I wouldn't have to worry about appliances anytime soon. Boy was I wrong. I wouldn't buy another Maytag or Whirlpool product ever again. Yes, Maytag has been bought out by Whirlpool. Whirlpool manufactures for other brands as well. Beware before you buy! Don't bother calling customer service either, they couldn't care less about your problems with their appliances. They tell you that you should have bought an extended warrenty. I guess they know there isn't much chance of the appliances lasting beyond the original 12 month warrenty! I told them they had lost a customer and they didn't seem to be too concerned. Hope this will deter others from having to go through what I have faced.

I have a dryer that is less than 2 years old. Model MED6000XW. Months after I bought it there was a very loud clunk, clunk. I called Maytag repair and they found a 2" tear in the metal drum. The clunk was the jagged metal hitting the outside shell of the dryer unit. Repair would be almost $300.This tear ruined my clothes. Everything catches on it. My towels are covered with pulled threads. I wrote to Maytag and after much back and forth was told that the 1-year warranty had expired, which I new, and that there was nothing they could do. There is nothing I could have done to cause the metal drum to tear. Just tonight I turned on the dryer and the drum seized. The tear became so large that it caught on something in the dryer and will no longer turn. How could they not be responsible for this fatal defect? I'm done with Maytag. Sorry to hear of your troubles with the company.

I sense the customer is at fault here.
maytag washer fix - clean contacts
Maytag Centennial MVWC6ESWW1 washer or other Whirlpool/Kenmore washers may not fill correctly or spin dry removing all water. Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) switch controls water level and temperature. The Whirlpool ATC W10248240 was identified as the electronic switch which may beat fault.
The ATC switch may not be at fault ... switch contacts and connector may be the problem. Clean contacts and connector with contact cleaner available at any auto parts store, before buying new ATC switch.
Solution: Open washer control switch panel (putty knife will release spring clip at each side of control panel housing ...
place putty knife under front between washer and control panel .. push spring clip(front to back) to release.
This fixed my problem .. thanks to Amazon reviews. AR

bad service
My husband and i purchased a front loader washer 13 months ago and have had nothing but problems with it A&E has been out to fix it 2 times. Now the gasket around the drum is cracked and leaking water onto the electric componets. We called Maytag they say to called A&E because they were here in October 2012 it may still be covered we did and were told its out of warranty.
You will have to pay $129.00 for the service call not including the parts to fix it. They should fix it for free a washer 13 months old shouldnt be falling apart. We called Maytag back and they cant help us. So NEVER EVER! again will we buy a Maytag product. The products and service SUCK!
were are very unhappy these HE products were suppose to be so much better.
Yeah right NOT!DO NOT buy anything from Maytag!

Hi cteyssier, we're very sorry to learn of your concerns with your Washer. Please send your address, model/serial number, a brief description of your concern and your phone number to Maytag_Digital@Maytag.com. We'll be glad to review your concerns for you.
I purchased all new Maytag and Jenn-air appliances when I remodeled my kitchen. Big mistake! The high end built-in convection oven broke almost immediately. The convection component does not work properly, the temperature probe quit working and the door is junk. The Maytag dishwasher is worse. The control panel ($150) broke and the door latch assembly ($35) snapped. I replaced both in June of 2013 and now the control panel broke again. This is poorly designed. I thought that the door latch assembly broke again and when installing the replacement part (2nd time around) I realized that the control panel has two tiny plastic pieces that hold the latch assembly in place. They broke so now I have to replace the control panel again. I see no point in replacing this part again if they are designed to only last 1 - 2 years (warranted 1 year, of course) when I can buy a new appliance (different brand) for $400 - $1000 which should last many years.
Has anyone else had these parts break so easily?
Dear WAW:
Thank you for your review.
I would like to inquire further about your review with you. Please respond back to this email address Maytag_Digital@Maytag.com with your name, phone number, street address, zip code, reviewer name, model & serial number, and date of purchase on the appliance.

I recently got my fridge from storage (3 months in all) and hooked my fridge up. It has no lights working but makes ice (albeit slowly and the ice is hollow). If I touch the pad it turns the auger but the flap does not open. I had a Maytag guy come out but all he did was open and shut my door for five minutes and knock on the door. He then stated it would be about $300 to fix the problem (with parts). He didn't seem to have a clue and I was wanting a second opinion.
Beware!
What happened to good ole customer service? I just placed a call to A & E Factory Service only to be snickered at by the rep (Victor) with every question I asked. Needless to say, making that call was a total waste of my time and he could have just as well told me to take a hike the second he answered the phone.
I have the MDB7600AWS model dishwasher that I purchased in 2005. The door handle feels broken but we adapted by squeezing the handle tighter and pulling. It works but it is not right. Our biggest problem is with the wheels on the upper rack; specifically, the plastic retainer shaft holding the wheels on. The plastic this retainer is made from becomes brittle and breaks. Over time, this plastic literally crumbles in your fingers. The metal screw that attaches the shaft to the height adjuster gets swallowed up by the pump. I hate to imagine what damage is being done. Maytag has changed the design but won't admit to the fault. The design has changed to use metal shafts rivetted to the rack height adjuster. Now you have to buy the whole adjuster at $35.00 each for left and right. That's a total of $70.00 CDN before taxes. Maytag should recall these racks and be supplying these parts free. I expect there will be a series pump (grinder) failures in the future. I called Maytag but they just say the warranty is expired. The problem started eight months after I purchased the dishwasher. I ran out of replacement parts that the retailer supplied me and of course the warranty is now expired. The Maytag website is useless because it only refers to the toll free number as a contact and these people won't help.
Dear ABC, I am hoping you can help me with a problem. My Maytag Frontloading washer was purchased in Feb of 2006, broke down Oct. 13th 2007 (for the 2nd time) while I was washing a load of clothes. I called the maytag repair man who came out on Oct. 29th. My clothes at this point had been stuck in the washer for 2 weeks. He tells me he has to order parts and they won't be in till Nov. 30th, because they are on national back order. He also can't get the door open, it's broken locked shut with my clothes inside.
I have been going to the laundry mat for 6 weeks, and I had to purchase new clothes.
I have e-mailed and spoken to maytag several times, they are always sorry but have no answers!
We paid 1200.00 for this washing machine that is clearly a lemon. (I told them I had a Sears Kenmore that lasted 14 years without a problem) This is the 2nd break down. They sent us a recall part because they were causing fires, and now I can't get the parts to get the washer fixed. NATIONAL BACKORDER! because everyone washer is probably having the same problem!
I started calling them on Dec 1st 07, because the part is not here, and they treated me with sarcasm saying why did I wait so long to call, I said "because you said the part woudn't be here till Nov 30th and its still not here! I demanded a new washer, because this one is clearly never getting fixed! They said NO. I got sarcastic and asked if they are going to replace my clothes that have been sitting rotting in my washer for 7 weeks, they said, NO call your homeowners insurance!
I have been patiently waiting for this part, but the waiting is over! I need help! I don't know what you can do for me, but anything is appreciated. I think a $1, 200 washing machine should last longer than 1 year 8mo. and breaking down 2 times! All I want for Christmas is a working washing machine!
I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher on 4/11/03 in less than a year the top rack began to rust out. The company would do nothing claiming rust on racks was covered for only 6 months! When I tried to replace the rack it was beyond what I was willing to pay- (over $100)
Two weeks ago it stopped working - I've have to replace it- I will NEVER buy a Maytag Appliance again.
3 Year Old high end french door refrigerator used gently and compressor goes. Maytag 1-2 weeks on turnaround time to repair warantee work. Will not buy again.
I purchased a Maytag dishwasher in April 2009. It worked for 20 washes, and then the computer panel stopped working in January 2010. I called for service immediately, and got a weekend service scheduled a month later, February 2010. The service woman stated the dishwasher computer panels have a problem with humidity and that it costs several hundred dollars to replace them. Mine was still under warranty, and I complained enough to get an extended warranty. However, the same thing has happened again. I only got 8 more washloads out of it before the panel broke down again. Service couldn't be scheduled for 7 weeks (June 8th is soonest date) because the "expert" they want to look at the machine isn't available on weekends or evenings. I paid $549 for this machine, plus an additional $139.99 for delivery and installation. It was far too much money to have nothing more than a dish drying rack, which is all this machine is good for.
I bought a Maytag washer and dryer front load from home depot last November. I have had major problems with it and here it is 3 months later, still under manufactor warranty and they won't fix it. Just constant promises about getting someone here to repair it. Iter the sale. I have even been in contact with the corporate office and they just keep giving me empty promises. I will never buy Maytag (Wirlpool) again or anything from home depot. Even earlier when I contactedthen they pretty much told me they have nothing to do with the product after the sale.
poor service or no service
I bought this dishwasher (MDB7749AWW) on July 27, 2011. The sensor board went out July 2012 and was told to call A & E Factory Service (Farmer Branch Service Ctr., 2270 Valley View Ln. Dallas, TX 75234, [protected]) to repair (don’t listen to Home Depot), A&E told me that they could offer me a extended warranty on the dishwasher and was with Maytag and wasn’t a third party repair service (learned lesson). Well the sensor board went out again in December 8, 2012 and I couldn’t get a repair person out to repair until December 13th. The repairman came out at the end of 5 hr wait and told me he didn’t have the part on the truck and would have to order it and schedule for the part to be delivered the day before December 21 and repair it between 1- 5 pm on the 21st. He was a no show [protected]). Called and the operator told me it was schedule for the 24th between 8am.-12pm, which I never agreed on. Now they can’t come out until the 29th 1-5pm. Were does it end? to be continued...
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Hi, MWburns.
My name is Nicki & I'm on the Home Depot's Social Media Team.
I hate to hear about the repair company not showing up & the appointment being set on a different day than you were advised, but I'd like to help if you still need it. Please feel free to email me at TeamSocial@homedepot.com with the HD location you purchased the washer from and the full name/phone/address on the order.
Thank you in advance, Nicki
I'm sorry but you may be a little misinformed. 2 weeks for a dishwasher is not uncommon, especially if part is a circuit board or other non-unique part. Dishwasher, as compared to a fridge that doesn't cool or a defective HVAC unit, is not critical. Do dishes? Also, Home Depot service may in fact use A&E under warranty or under their extended service. A&E is a Sears owned compony/franchise that does authorized work for most manufacturers. Whatever they are selling you IS the same as a third party service plan. None of these plans you wish to pay for have anything in the terms and conditions concerning fast, convenient or even quality service. Good luck. Also, your "Maytag" is under the Whirlpool umbrella and certainly NOT manufactured to the higher specs as when it was a top quality company itself.
