Exterior glass pane severe staining
21-22 windows bought, half in 2010 and remaindering 201.Both batches show window staining which look like dirty water sprayed on exterior surfaces, This does not come off with the regularly available glass cleaning products. The service technician tried to clean and was not able to effect a change. Corporate claims that hard water or harsh abrasives were used. This is not true. There were never any written or verbal instructions that warned of area of acid rain for which their windows would fail.
I believe that this is a product failure of the window glass or the e-coating. I have six older Andersen windows, two of their sliders and a Pella palladium window which ere all cleaned in a similar fashion. These other Andersen windows came when the house was built 27years ago I expect all of the Renewal windows to be replaced
Fraudulent license number being used
Javier Nunez is using his brothers contractors license number to conduct business with Renewal by Anderson. Javier Nunez is not a american citizen. In addition to illegally being in the United States he owes child support for ten children born here in the united states. This is why he creates fake pay check stubs for himself and his co workers. He does not carry any type of insurance for himself nor his workers. He is reckless and drinks while hes working and allows the rest of his team to drink as well.
Double-hung windows and casement windows
We had these windows installed throughout our entire house on December 28, 2015. They have always leaked, especially at the bottom and the middle of the double-hung windows where the two sections meet. Even the four casement windows leak around the edges. When I got up this morning (12/19/2016), there was actually a thin but solid coating of ice along the interior of the bottom edge of the glass on the bottom half of each window! I must say that these windows leak worse than the older windows we had before. This is completely unacceptable. I called our local company that did the installation and had to leave a message. The voicemail informed me that I will need to allow at least one business day for them to get back to me! We spent a ton of money on this product and I now won't rest until it's right.
Financing
Renewal By Andersen promotes in their advertising and with their sales reps what is called same as cash financing. They offer no payment no interest " deals " for one year to close the sale. What is not mentioned is if you do not pay the entire amount of the loan within that year, you will be charged interest on the entire amount from the date you entered into the loan. So, if you bought 22 windows for $30, 000 and only paid back $29, 000 by the end of the agreed upon 1 year, you will owe interest on $30, 000 from the date of inception. This interest can be as much as 50%!
Renewal By Andersen is sold thru franchises. In The Greater Capitol Region Of NYS and The Hudson River Valley Area the franchise is owned by Eric Minkiewicz. He has operated under different websites: Huff N Puff, RBA Eastern NY, Hudsonvalleynywindows.com and Andersenwindowsny.com. I would STRONGLY advise anyone contemplating one of these loans to first have their attorney give them his opinion. Remember, this offer is from an individual who bought this franchise and NOT from the manufacturer of the windows.
Rba promotes what is called same as cash financing. What the sales representative, the advertising and the franchise does not inform you is the following:
By agreeing to not pay any principal or interest on your purchase for one year, you are agreeing to pay interest from day one on the full amount if you do not pay the total amount of the principal by the end of that year.
Here's an example. If you borrow $1, 000 on a 12 month same as cash plan, you have to pay it back within 12 months to avoid interest. That much is obvious. However, the term "same as cash" is very misleading because most of these so called deals are actually deferred interest payment plans. So, if you borrow $1, 000 and pay $950 of it in 12 months and still owe $50, you will be charged interest on $1, 000, not on $50! In other words, you will be charged back interest on the full amount regardless of the amount you paid on the loan during the 12 month "same as cash" period.
What's even worse is that consumers rarely think about the interest they will have to pay if they can't pay the full amount within the allotted time. We're not talking about 12.5% or even 20% interest. The annual percentage rates on these "same as cash" deals can be as high as 40% or 50%.
In other words, taking one of these "12 months same as cash deals is a lot like playing with a loaded handgun. You had better be sure the safety is on and there is no bullet in the chamber, before you start tossing it around.
Double hung windows leak cold air
On 10/26/16 I had 6 double-hung windows installed in my farmhouse. This past week we had two days of nasty 35 to 50 mph winds & the windows were definitely leaking air.. mostly in the slides so I texted my saleslady & the next day a window tech did come out and insert plugs, some foam weather stripping & caulked on the bottom where each had a gap! I asked him (Travis) why this isn't done when they are installed & his exact words were... then I wouldn't have a job! So evidently they know they will leak & expect to get called back which is BS in my book! We pay dearly for their windows & then get this?
Ticked Off In South Dakota!
Advertising issues
Renewal By Andersen is marketed thru franchises. In The Greater New York State Capital Area and The Hudson River Valley Area these windows are sold thru Eric Minkiewicz. Here is some facts you should know:
1 ) RBA has their own Andersen Window while all the other retail outlets - Home Depot, Williams Lumber etc - have their own Andersen replacement window. The non franchise replacement window is approximately 40% less expensive ( even with all the promos ), installer friendly, stronger and more attractive.
2 ) The franchise plays pricing games. They increase the retail price to allow the promo cost which is still overpriced. The sales reps make 10% on each sale but they only have the initial visit - one call close. If they do not make the sale, the Sales Manager will call the customer the next day and offer them a larger discount. The manager is credited with the sale.
3 ) The Andersen warranty - 10 years on the install, 10 years on the frame, 20 years on the glass with no breakage - is one of the WORST in the industry. Quality window manufactures offer a lifetime transferable with breakage warranty.
4) Over the last few years Eric Minkiewicz has changed his website from Huff N Puff to RBA Hudson Valley to RBA Eastern NY to Andersenwindowsny to now Hudsonvalleynywindows. WHY, I have my guess but what I can say is that I am very good at hide and seek.
5 ) There is no such thing as a replacement door. If you want a new patio door to replace an existing Andersen door or to replace any other company's door, you can go to any Andersen retail outlet and get the exact same door approx. for 40% less. In addition, RBA sells Pro Via entry doors that they don't clearly inform the customer that it is a separate company that has its own marketing distributorship.
As a consumer, it is your responsibility to obtain and understand the facts about anything you want to buy.
OOPS, made a mistake! The warranty is - 2 years on the install 10 years on the frame and 20 years on the glass with no breakage. An even worse warranty than what I wrote before. Stay away from this company!
As a consumer, the first thing you should understand about this privately owned ( Eric Minkiewicz ) franchise is the following:
Eric Minkiewicz pays his sales reps no salary, no expenses, no benefits, no vacation pay, no hourly wage. The sales reps receive 10% of the sale and nothing more. If they don't close on the first call, they get NOTHING! Now, with that understanding, does anyone expect anything less than a high pressure visit from your " friendly RBA rep "?
Windows and sales guy
Called this company for a quote on my Windows, and it was a complete nightmare. Not only was the pricing on the Windows a joke... like 40% higher than the reputable replacement window companies, but the sales guy was the most rude and unprofessional person Imhave ever met. He threatened not to leave if I didn't sign a contract, and literally stayed for 6 hours (I was only looking to replace 9 Windows). So if you're in Tucson, Green Valley Sahuarita, etc., I would be very leary of having someone from Renewal by Amderson any where around your home. Their financing is also a scam... something like GreenSky?
Warranty
Their latest advertisement no longer declares that Renewal By Andersen both manufactures and installs the windows like their previous adds. Now they are proclaiming " Renewal By Andersen provides one rock solid warranty that covers your windows, doors & installation ". Well, here are the facts concerning the warranty: 20 years on the glass (not glass breakage), 2 years on the installation, and 10 years on the frame and hardware. Folks, this is one of the worst warranty offered anywhere. Look up Pella, Marvin, Jeld Wen any window manufacturer you wish and you will understand " rock-solid " means absolutely nothing! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRIVATELY OWNED FRANCHISE!
The 21 Day Sale began June 6, 2016. Today is June 29, 2016 and this supposed sale is still going. This is just another example of how this franchise attempts to sell its way overpriced windows, Go to Williams Lumber, Home Depot or other Andersen window dealers and get an Andersen replacement window. Stop giving Eric Minkiewicz, the franchise owner, money for doing absolutely nothing
You should also go to Huff n Puff and Renewal By Andersen Eastern New York and look at the complaints filed there. Eric, you can run but you can't hide!
Here is a " published " version of RBA's warranty.

Incorrect advertising concerning installation
RBA Eastern NY latest advertisement claims " Renewal by Andersen is the Manufacturer and the Installer" This is a lie! The ad's small print reads
" Some Renewal by Andersen locations are independently owned and operated. " The plain truth is that all Renewal by Andersen locations outside of Andersen's home state of Wisconsin are privately owned franchises. The Albany - Hudson Valley New York franchise is owned by Eric Minkiewicz, a most despicable human being. It is he, not Renewal by Andersen, who is responsible for the installation of the windows. Any complaints that you might have will automatically be turned over to Eric Minkiewicz and you already now know what he will do - he will point to Andersen. This is called finger pointing and the customer very rarely comes out on top with these situations. If you want an Andersen replacement window go to retail outlets like Home Depot and Williams and save yourself a large sum of money with a lot less amount of grief.
Windows
This company likes to scam it's customers into buying over priced windows. They had a minivan full of kids walking around, at night, knocking on doors convincing people they need to replace their windows. I was concerned with one window but the young man convinced me to let them look at all of my windows. Then I had to talk to a customer service rep on the...
Read full review of Renewal by AndersenWindow screens
Every time it rains, the window screens capture so much water, I am unable to see outside my window. The rain comes through the screen and even coats the outside of my new Windows. I brought the windows to be able to see out of. I am also concerned that in the Cold weather the snow and or snow crystals will melt, freeze on the screen and the window and completely block all view out the Windows, I had 6 Windows replaced within this past year and this will be the first winter. Based on rain alone, I am. Really disappointed. I am at wits end to be able to see out my Windows during the rain. I called Renewal from Andersen three times and no human answered, I did leave messages.
Not nice stuff
I had originally had a quote for (3) gliding doors to be replaced at my house. To high of an estimate put the brakes on that, then Renewal by Andersen called and made a second stop in to re-quote me a price for the doors. To much of my surprise I looked at the contract really close a few days later and found that he set me up with totally different doors than the original quote. So I cancelled the order only to find out that they had already debited my account to the tune of $5422.50. I would have to say about these sales reps is not nice stuff . So I will leave it at that. They are currently ignoring all emails and messages that I send them. They will pay the price for ignoring me when my attorney gets through with them.
They refused, when I asked that I wanted to help
I have no idea how the hell it has happened, but the company Renewal by Andersen has lost my large order. It was really big and they somehow lost it. And after couple of days they continued to tell me that they haven’t found it and blah-blah. They don’t care about the customers and their problems. I wanted to help, but the rep almost immediately stopped me and told that they didn’t care anything from me.
Customer service
Problem with one of the windows that were installed on 4 / 13 / 15 and 4 / 14 / 15.
Have called and emailed numerous time for technician to come and look at window. Only get the run around.
The last email stated tech would be there on 5 / 30 / 15 at 12:30 pm. No one showed up or called. Was home all day waiting no one came.
Terrible customer service
We are interested in replacing 12 windows in our house and asked Renewal by Andersen to come out for a quote appointment. I set up the appointment for Saturday at 3pm, and answered a list of questions - some necessary, some strange. Here are the discussion details. The representative asked if we live in a single family home - Yes. He askes if we are doing renovations - No. He asked if we have other decision maker living in the house - ? He asked if my husand will be present at the appointment - No. He asked that all deicision makers, both husband and wife, are present at the appointment. I told him that I can make a decision but this is only an appointment for a quote, right? What if I am a single mother? The fact is my husand will be working that day and I am more than capable to show the repsentative what needs to be done in terms of windows. This is not brain surgery. Then, we set up the appointment for Saturday at 3pm. The representative said he will call a day before to confirm. I said great. So, on Friday at 11am, I got a call from Renewal by Andersen confirming the appointment. I said great, I will be there. Then the representative started asking the same list of questions mentioned above. Do you living in a single family home - Yes, if we are doing renovations - No. Then I told him that I have answered all these questions prior, can we pls confirm the appointment and move on. I had to run to a meeting now... Of course, they never showed up on Saturday while I waited and called me later to let me know that they will have to reschedule since I never confirmed the appointment. Then the same list of questions start - I finally said, thank you but no thank you. Total disaster and completely disrespectful to women.
I've been is sales quite a while and I know that the decision maker question can be frustrating. The reason they do that is because if both decision makers are not there then when, say in your case you tell your husband about the presentation then there is a real possibility he is going to say "ah, let's keep shopping". Or he may want to hear the presentation because it is a lot of money, so the company has to pay that rep to come back over and present again. The sales rep wants to close the sale. Without your husband present, would you have bought that day or if it was your husband would he buy such a large investment without you there? Believe me, it has nothing to do with being sexist. It's all about closing the sale and keeping it closed. If he were sexist, don't you think that he would have hurried and tried to sell you before your husband got home? Think about it...

Snake oil
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia l
Snake oil is an expression that originally referred to fraudulent health products or unproven medicine but has come to refer to any product with questionable or unverifiable quality or benefit. By extension, a snake oil salesman is someone who knowingly sells fraudulent goods or who is himself or herself a fraud, quack, charlatan, or the like.
Eric Minkiewicz is the owner of RBA of Eastern New York. This company was previously known as Huff N Puff.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Despite what you may have been led to believe with all of the advertising, ordering replacement windows thru RBA of Eastern NY is ordering with Eric Minkiewicz and NOT Andersen Windows and Doors nor Renewal by Andersen. You are actually ordering with Eric Minkiewicz who then orders the windows with RBA.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
RBA also manufactures 2 other replacement windows: The Andersen 100 and The Woodwright. You can get these windows at places like Home Depot, Erie Materials, 84 Lumber, Curtis Lumber, Williams Lumber etc. With a few slight style differences, The Andersen 100 is the exact same window as the franchise window. The Woodwright having a wood frame with Fibrex veneered to the outside is stronger and more attractive than the all Fibrex franchise window.
The Andersen 100 costs 75% LESS than RBA Eastern NY window. So, a house of 20 windows roughly would cost $30, 000 with RBA Eastern NY and $7, 500 with The Andersen100 window.
The Woodwright costs 50% LESS than RBA Eastern NY window. So, a house of 20 windows roughly would cost $30, 000 with RBA Eastern NY and $15, 000 with The Woodwright window.
According to The Times Union newspaper, RBA Eastern NY makes 85% of its money with replacement windows.
If you are a potential customer for replacement windows, it makes no sense to go to RBA Eastern NY
If you are an employee of Eastern NY understand that you are like everyone else, you have free will. You have no excuse to work for such a place.
If you are a friend of Eric Minkiewicz, you should reexamine your ethics.
If you are family of Eric Minkiewicz, especially his parents who started Huff N Puff as a regular home improvement company, my condolences.
What bothers me the most is how the public is mislead that they are dealing directly with the manufacturer. YOU ARE NOT!
This is a franchise that is owned by Eric Minkiewicz who lives with his wife, Holly, at 6001 Queen Mary Court Schenectady, New York Phone
[protected]. Andersen Windows and Doors also sells their replacement windows thru retail outlets like Home Depot, Williams Lumber etc. The retail outlets replacement window is better looking, stronger, installer friendly and AT LEAST 40% LESS EXPENSIVE
IT MAKES NO SENSE TO GOT TO ERIC MINKIEWICZ'S FRANCHISE AND PAY HIM HIS OUTLANDISH PRICES
This privately owned franchise advertises that they have put the WOW in replacement windows. Their current gimmick is for every window you buy at list you can also buy one at 40% off. Home Depot has an Andersen Replacement Window called The Woodwright. It is stronger, more attractive and installer friendly. Even with this 40% off marketing scheme, The Woodwright is still, AT LEAST, 25% less expensive than Eric Minkiewicz;s absurd price. So, they are correct! RBA of Eastern New York has put the WOW in replacement windows!
In addition the above:
If you are a past customer of RBA of Eastern New York, you should consider legal action!
THIS COMPLAINT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED BUT YOU NO LONGER HAVE IT LISTED. I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU WOULD PUT IT BACK ON THE INTERNET. I ALSO UPGRADED IT RECENTLY BUT YOU HAVE NOT INCLUDED THAT ALSO
Product Duplication
Since 2009, Renewal By Andersen has been marketing thru a separate list of dealers than their own privately owned franchises, basically, the same window - The Andersen 100. I repeat, the same window that their own franchises sell. It makes no sense to me, but hey, if Andersen won't back their own franchises then why should WE. What is even more remarkable is the price difference between the franchises and the other outlets. Read the following article:
Andersen Fibrex® Window Frame Information
andersen100series.homestead.com/.../Our_Andersen_100_Series_Fibrex...
then go the following website and find your Andersen 100 dealer near you:
100 Series - Andersen Windows
www.andersenwindows.com/products/.../100-serie...
Andersen Corporation
Andersen 100 Series windows and patio doors are come in deep, rich colors outside and are made with our unique, revolutionary Fibrex® composite material.
The huge price difference reveals the following: THE FRANCHISES ARE WAY OVERPRICED FOR A VERY BASIC WINDOW.
Price Quality
We purchased 4 windows and were told we could add additional windows later at a set price.
I was not excited about the overall price but decided to start with 4. About a year later another rep came out
(I was told the other rep no longer worked with the company) Bottom line I was quoted a number almost 35% higher
than my original quote and told that this was as discounted as it gets. After this I started comparing notes with some friends and a neighbor. I am glad I didn't waste any more money with these people. I have just completed All of my windows with a comparable product that looks great and has a superior warranty. Happy to not be throwing anymore money away!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Reality Check #1
When you are dealing with any for profit business, current and future particulars should be in writing.
When you are dealing with a Renewal by Andersen franchise, current and future particulars MUST be in triplicate and notarized.
Scammed
I made a very big mistake when I signed a contract for window replacements this past spring! It has been a nightmare that won't go away! I was given the wrong date (3/18 included Sunday) on the cancellation part of the contract. The following Wednesday and Thursday I tried to call the salesman to cancel but he never answered my calls. I know that I missed...

I was given the wrong date (3/18/2014 included Sunday) on the cancellation part of the contract. The following Wednesday and Thursday I tried to call the salesman to cancel but he never answered my calls. I know that I missed the 3 day window by speaking to someone in their Renewal by Anderson office on Friday, March 21st after signing the contracts on Saturday, March 15th. I did speak to a secretary and told her that I wanted to cancel the contract and the measurement appointment. She told me that the person I needed to speak to was away and she would have her return my call the following Monday. On Tuesday the manager told me I couldn't cancel. I think I have been scammed by Renewal by Andersen in Northborough, MA.
The Manager at Renewal by Anderson was already holding half the loan, $3, 407.33 from a company called GreenSky. A $100 check given to them for a building permit but that was finally returned. They are trying to keep 25% of the loan amount! This is over $1600 for nothing. NO ORDER WAS EVER MADE FOR THE WINDOWS AS NO MEASUREMENTS WERE EVER TAKEN. I feel that this cancellation penalty is very unfair.
The window replacement cost was supposed to include a 20% discount for buying five windows plus an additional 5% discount for signing the contract that same day that the salesman was there. I feel that the price ($6714) of these windows to TOO high. The manager of Renewal by Anderson claims their pricing is regulated by the government.
This whole situation has been a nightmare for me. I now find myself unemployed and facing a debt that should not even exist!
Dear Scammed by Renewal by Andersen
Your quoted price must have been $8, 950 for 5 windows to allow for a 25% discount for a bottom line of $6, 714. Now I want you to go to any Andersen retail outlet you want (Home Depot, etc) with the measurements of your windows and ask them how much is their Andersen replacement window called The Woodwright. You will be shocked on how much less this window - which is also made be RBA - costs compared to how much the RBA FRANCHISE quoted you. To make matters worse, this window is far superior than the one you bought. In addition, the manager of the privately owned franchise where you bought the windows is a LIAR. Their prices are not regulated by the government. They are determined by how much this privately owned business feels they can gouge the general public. You should have looked at this complaint site BEFORE you bought!
