We were stuck in the drive thru for about 20 minutes the line was very backed up. You could tell they were under staffed. The woman who took our order handle cash with the same gloves and the proceeded to touch all of our food. We watched right from the window. We proceeded to ask for a manager and the cashier said we were lying right in front of us and the manager. I was in complete shock. We asked for our money back never even received our food in a timely manner. I will not be back anytime soon.

At 12pm on 12/21/17 @ Illnois Rd, Fort Wayne, IN there was 1 server. She was very overwhelmed with customers, doing jobs that weren't hers & even trying to cashier but the register wouldn't allow her to ring us out. She requested the manager come help, he took a good 10 minutes to come forward, in the meantime others were ready to be cashed out. 1 table of 2 people walked out on their bill. We explained we wanted to pay for it so the server didn't have to, he kept waiting for server to come over to tell him where they had been sitting, I did so & he pulled up their bill & we paid it, along with ours. The manager kept saying that there was management things that he had to do at 12pm & he had worked this shift by himself, making excuses. It is the holiday season, there are more people out later, we felt the store was understaffed, 3 grill cooks, drive thru cashier who wouldn't cash us out & a manager in the back of the store. We had issues with short staff at the other store in Fort Wayne and chose to try this one instead, it was worse. We won't be going back.

Came in last night at 12 through the drive thru and with 1 Person ahead of me and maybe 2 people inside, was told it would be a 20 min wait because it was they're "rush"hour absolutely uncalled for and they do this all the time just so they don't have to deal with customers. Maybe need new management or something but some one needs to check on this.

On 12/19/2017 my wife and I went to store # 604 for lunch and had the worst experience that I have ever had. When we walked in the door the heat was quite high and the store smelled like a gym locker. It was like a 3rd world country inside. The waitress met us at the door (Tamika H) and never said a word. She grabbed 2 menus and walked to a table and motioned for us to sit there then walked off. She came back 10 minutes later to take our drink order and then we waited another 10 minutes or longer for her to come back. After placing our order it took 20 minutes to get our food. It was delivered by another waitress, when it arrived the French fries were cold. We were finished eating and never saw our waitress again. I have been to this store numerous times and it was always packed, service and food was always great and the waiters and waitresses have always been friendly. Today there was hardly anyone in the store (5 waitresses and 6 tables) for lunch during Christmas at the Mall. That should have told me something, I just thought you would like to know.

How can you call yourselves steak and shake when it takes over 30 minutes to make a shake?! Gotten a shake 3 different times at different locations and had to wait over half an hour. Like what is going on? Either make the shake in a timely manner or stop serving them. Cookout makes shakes in under 3 minutes and gets them out very fast. I don't understand what is so hard. Is there a dedicated shake maker that works here? One person in the whole store trained to mix ice cream in a cup?

There were 4 of us plus a child. We all ordered burgers and one of us ordered an extra burger with no fries. When the food came, he did not have the extra burger we ordered. It never got put on the ticket. We requested for another burger. While waiting for the other burger, the waiter was blowing his nose on the floor and tossing his napkin into the trash can like a basketball. He did not bother to wash his hands afterwards. After waiting at least another 15-20 minutes on the extra burger he came to our table and asked if we "were good. We again told him we needed the extra burger. He went to the counter and was told the cooks he needed one ASAP, so while once again waiting on the burger, the waiter was sitting at the bar and blew his nose once again. Tossing it in the trash can like a basketball and not washing his hands again. By this time I was disgusted and had no drink left. I asked another nice waitress to refill my drink. She did so and asked everyone else if they needed anything and took our dirty plates. The burger finally came, when we were ready to go. I did not feel as if we should have been charged for the extra burger as the waiter had to be told 3 times. Also when I went to pay, the waiter checked us out, and I paid with a card. He tried to hand me a pen so I could sign the receipt and I told him I wasn't touching his pen. Without saying anything he walked off and went back to the drink area and stood. I had to ask the nice waitress for a pen. I then told her about him blowing his nose and not washing his hands.

I went with my fiancee to steak and shake by countryside mall clearwater fl at 3 am i ordered a number 2 with a milkshake instead of coke and a hot dog with cheese and a milkshake I got charged full.price for milkshake with meal and full.price for hotdog when she rung it as the 4 meal the hot dog had no cheese and waited 25 mins to be charged 17.72 I got my order and there a little bit of shreaded cheese tossed in a corner and if you ring me for a full 4 dollar meal where are my fries when i asked why I was wrong the way i was I was told thats how we do it I'm very unsatisfied and will not be returning you lost a long time customer

I went into the Steak n Shake on 5402 Meijer Dr. in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I entered the restaurant at 10:50 am. I asked to be served breakfast as it does not end until 11 am. They refused to let me order breakfast saying they had closed the grill down. If the breakfast goes until 11 am then I should be able to get breakfast until 11 am. I am not happy with that service.

dirty and unprofessional
While in the bradley Steak and shake. The guy manager with black Curley hair and mustache was very immature to be in this spot. Clothes are filthy dirty. I get you are working in a restaurant and I worked many years in one but to be at the register taking orders and cashing out people it makes me wonder how dirty the back of the house restaurant is. Very disappointing
a sandwich
All I wanted was for them to put the toppings from the jalapeno crunch burger on to chicken and they refused to do it. I've never had an issue before ordering this and now all of a sudden they refuse said they don't do special orders and absolutely not going to. I think that's pretty crappy. That was the last time I go into a steak and shake. Now I'm pissed off and hungry. Awesome, thanks you [censor].
chili mac supreme
I come to Steak n' Shake specifically for the Chili Mac Supreme, and they have been out of chili multiple times recently. If they do not fix this issue, I will not return. This makes me very sad because Steak n' Shake has always been one of my favorite restaraunts. In addition to this, it is obvious that the employees are under a lot of stress. They are either new or there are not enough working at a time.

Very upset, second visit to Greenfield Ind.store. First visit was taken to table waited long time and waitress never came back to us. Finally got up and left after telling mgr why we were leaving. Second time we were with a group of 17 people. Tables not cleaned off, didn't get acknowledged for long time. When they did clean off table they used dirty cloth that smelled. We all left, used to get great service. Even Franklin ind. store is bad on service.

for years, the Steak and Shake store on Goodman Road, Southaven Mississippi was my wifes and my favorite place to go while in that area(we live 100 miles east)..my wife had a massive stroke 3 years ago and since then I haven't tried to go to this store. Yesterday I was in the area, and had a friend with me who I told that this store was the very best and we went. The first thing I noticed even as we parked, was all the litter on the parking area. It looked like a trash dump up to and including empty beer bottles and cartons within 10 feet of the front door. We went in and it was a total zoo..no one appears to know what they were doing(this was about 11AM, so lunch rush had not started..there were several booths and tables empty but still loaded with the last customers dishes, etc. The only positive thing I saw was the young man who was trying to seat people(and had to wind up taking our orders, delivering them and bringing us our ticket)(and had to clean our table while at it). The food was as usual, as good as ever, and thankful for that, but am worried that if you don't get control over this, (and first time I have ever seen in Steak and Shake, and have eaten in dozens of them), you are going to lose this location...

Service was horrible. Staff were not rude. They took forever to respond and bring our food. One non-English speaking person took order. No wait staff.

I ordered an online gift card on 12/10 it says 1-3 business days to ship out, and that it was guaranteed to arrive by Christmas (12/25). I called on 12/15 and spoke with Marie she was no help- told me I can not talk to anyone higher up because she's in charge of gift cards and then hung up on me. I then emailed a compliment, and Marie emailed me back saying the card is expected to ship 12/18 but that it will still take another 10 business days to arrive. I am upset because this is a Christmas gift and I was told it would be here by Christmas. I am also upset because of how I am being treated.

Hi, I'm a regular customer who goes in to the steak n shake in Fenton regularly, and I have a huge problem with the general manager there mike, i seen him take money at the register and not change his gloves and go right back to cooking, I seen him put his hands in an employees bag of food before. And take napkins because there was too many. I've seen him engage his customers and his employees in inappropriate and rude behavior, he is dirty and very unprofessional, I have stopped going there because all of those things and more, something needs to be done about this man he needs to be fired or sued because I've seen him violate so many things. I will never eat here again

I visited a location on Reynolds Road and was treated horribly. I asked for a number 14 and 16 w/BBQ sauce. It was repeated correctly. I got to the window and got two burgers when I was supposed to get one burger, two fries and a chicken tender. I ask the girl for my receipt and told her my order was wrong. She asked for the bag back so she could check it. She came back to the window and told me I got what I asked for showing the wrong ticket. I told her the order is incorrect and I would like it to be fixed. She dug through my bag, the manager dug through my bag, and some random man dug through my bag as well, only one having a glove on. I asked her for fresh fries because I did not want something everyones hands touched. She got very upset. I came into the restaurant to speak to them about the service. The girl was yelling from the back saying "I gave her her fries!" I asked for a refund which seemed impossible. So I asked them to make my food fresh while I watched them. While they were making my food a young lady next to me vomited all over the floor, counter, and I'm sure some of it went behind the counter. I told them twice she threw up and no one even came to clean it up within my 10 minutes of being inside. I am very disgusted with steak and shake.

i was at at steak ‘n shake last friday morning and i saw a maroon pontiac G6 parked in front the steak ‘n shake and i saw them smoking weed and it was a black girl and a white girl inside the car. when they got out and walked back into steak ‘n shake and the black girl looked like she was pregnant. the black girl had black hair and the white girl had red hair to.

I Went to steak and shake and waited about 25 minutes in the drive through. When i Got home three of the four burgers i ordered had buns that were very burnt and hard to the point where it was no where near decent to eat. The Fries were also about half filled as well. I usually have pleasent experiences but the past few times, especially this visit was not so pleasent at all.

Went to the steak and shake drive thru and after receiving food 30 min later got home and started to eat the spicy chicken sandwich I got. It had a nasty texture but was not red. The texture was as if it was cooked to a point of not being pink but was not fully cooked. I had my fiancé taste it and he agreed that it wasn't fully cooked either. So I called the Mall of Ga steak and shake to speak with a manager who then informed me that "it was just a bad bag" and hat "I've had a couple people complain about the chicken but it is fully cooked, you are not the first person" she then offered to replace it with another and I told her no thank you bc it tasted awful and I don't want bad chicken to which she said she would give me a different sandwich of choice. If I was told that it was an accident I wouldn't even be writing this to you but being told that it was just a bad bag is not ok. I love steak and shake but feel as though this is not ok for myself and future customers. Thank you!
