the drive through worker
I have never had a worker be so ignorant to me while ordering food. I almost drove off and yes I did give her attitude back after she was very rude when I was saying please and thank you to her. Then when I pulled up she was talking about us. I want you to know just in case she complains. I am so mad I'm shaking. Another worker took over and was very nice to us. I thanked him because her attitude sucked. She called me a [censor]. Where I could hear her. That is inexcusable. There was no need for her to get ignorant because I asked what the sides are. I swore i'd never come back to this Steak ‘n Shake and it's been at least a year maybe more. But I will not let people disrespect me when I'm spending money. Then to top it off the food was horrible and the one burger looked like it was spit on. So it wasn't eaten. If I involved police I would have taken to be checked for DNA. It just wasn't eaten instead. Georgesville Rd Steak n Shake in Columbus ohio will never get another penny from me or my loved ones. Worst treatment out of any place I've been too. She definetly doesn't appreciate her job.
rude order taker at drive thru window
I pulled up to the drive thru and asked to order a number 20 fully dressed and to sub the fries for onion rings. The CSR replied WHAT and I repeated the above and the next tone was rude and she yelled PULL AROUND.! MY BURGER was soaked in garlic and the bun should not have been this wet. The oniin rig was full of grease. I have never been treated this way!
milkshake
Today I visited the pearl, ms location. And this is the second time that I have gotten a shake that Just wasn't good. The first time I hit a caramel frappe and it was melted and tasted only like caramel. Then I went today and got a peanut butter shake with Oreos and it tasted like vanilla. With nuts and Oreos on top. I looked at my receipt and they did peanut butter cup which isn't what I ordered. I'm just disappointed because I love Steak ‘n Shake. When I said something about it on Facebook everyone said that their shakes haven't been good either. Really stinks that this location sucks.

She is unprofessional, she fires people without telling them just takes them off the schedule, she has no control over the store, she screams and cusses in the dining room in front of customers, she shares inappropriate personal information about her sex life that made me feel uncomfortable, she punishes employees for changing their availability by giving them the worst sections and does not rotate her servers, she is never on time for her 6am shifts, she allows employees to go outside and get high while working, the store itself should be shutdown there has been a water leak problem in the dining room for approx 2 weeks and she has ignored it there are many health code violations that she simply ignores. She is irresponsible, disrespectful to workers, has admitted to having sex with past employees, and she is unprofessional. Many people have quit going to that steak and shake because her.

12/14/2017, store no. 589. We came in about 2:05pm and first waited at the entryway for 5-8 minutes to be seated in a sparsely filled restaurant. Once seated we again waited another 10 minutes for our waitress to stop and take drink and meal orders. After ordering we waited another 40 minutes for our cooled hamburgers to be delivered. We were in visual distance of the chef counter and saw food waiting for delivery to our tables. Another patron ( 1 of three other tables also waiting) went up to check on our portion of the room's meals. Some was clearly ready for pick-up and delivery. Our server then started checking on her placed orders and delivering them from the window. No apologies given. When I complained about the service at the cashier as we paid, she asked if our server was pleasant about it...we hadn't seen her since we'd had to ask about silverware. No offer for refills on our drinks.
I would suggest that if food is in the window for delivery, any one could pick it up and take it to the client. The server should at least check with her guests occasionally to explain the delay. The cashier did comp our beverages which were already half off.
We still enjoyed our lunch but the service was enough to really mess up the experience!

I worked at the steak and shake in Warner Robins, Georgia during June and July of 2017. I took a leave of absence in order to come back in December 2017. I attend a college that is a few hours away. Once I came back, I talked with a general manager (Ariel Spornhauer) to make sure I could return this break. She told me I could originally. Afterwards, she told me that I could not work there because I did not take a leave of absence. I could not call the actual store because their phone number is not up to date. This is bad management and puts a bad reputation out in the world for them. I still have my uniform and left on a positive note, yet they lied and said that i did not take a leave of absence.
drive-thru service and wait time

My boys and I are regular customers of Steak & Shake, especially during happy hour. Today I waited a total of 45 minutes in line in the drive-thru. When I finally arrived at the window, they gave me my food but then had me wait another 10 minutes for our 3 shakes. In the meantime my boys' food is getting cold in my car. Later a young woman brought 2 shakes to the window. I was alone in my car and said that I will need a drink carrier. She then said, "I know, but can you hold these 2 shakes while I get it." I declined to do so. Eventually we received our whole order. It was correct and we ate it. My problem was with the service and especially the wait time. I assume the drive-thru is regularly very busy during happy hour, so maybe more than 1 person should be making the shakes. Basically, I would like the problem to be resolved so that we can eat at a restaurant we really like and maybe a gift card or refund for the extremely long wait. I can't get the time back

It seems like every single time i have used the mobile or computer ordering at the essex drive location in kokomo indiana; my order is messed up. I've had 2 times where my sandwhiches werent right and my fiance had to go all the way back to get it fixed; then this time right now (830pm 12/11/17) we even printed our receipt and took it over; no dressing on my salad and i put i wanted ranch; our drinks were supposed to be larges with NO ice; they were smalls with ice. It's just frustrating. I will continue to eat there because i love steak and shake but maybe gets some friendly employees or ones that actually WANT to do their job and care about their place of employment.

I use to love going to the jensen beach florida steak and shake because it is the closest to my home and I LOVE their food, they are my favorite "fast food" resturant. But lately they have really gone down hill, the last 5 times ive gone to this specific steak and shake they have either, been rude, forgot a food item or didnt put the right things on my burger. Today I ordered quite a large order, 6 burgers total, and they forgot one burger (that was on my recipt), I went to let them know and ot tool 15 minutes for anyone to even get to the register to help me the woman at the counter was snobby "what do you want" so I let her know they missed a burger telling her I understood cause it was a large burger "are you sure you even ordered it" she responded and I then handed her my recipt and she rolled her eyes at me and told me it would be a 10 minute wait because she had other customers to serve and "didnt have time for this" so I just walked out. So I end up going home with my food and open the burgers, the jelepeno crunch burger just had jelepenos on it, no sauce or crunchy chips; my portebello burger didnt have the garlic sauce or cheese, just mushrooms; my tripple burger didnt have everything on it like I asked, just lettuce ketchup and mustard. Im very dissapointed in this steak and shake, it didnt use to be like this. Ive been coming here since I was a child. And as I stated before this has happened the last 5 TIMES ive gone there...):

On Sunday December 10th at 12:28pm I came in as a carryout. The host and waiter chase or chaz was busy with taking an order at the table. Nobody else came up to me. Their was a manager there in a blue button down shirt that was chewing his gum like a cow. Mouth wide open all I could imagine was spit accidentally coming out as he was chewing while standing over the flat top and flipping burgers. Yes the heat would have killed and fries the spit and germs but that isn't the point. So eventually the guy in the blue shirt decides to ask what I was going to get and he said "Is you ready to order?" I'm not an English major but please address the customer properly. For example hi ma'am what can I get for you something to that nature. So the partial owner was there a older Caucasian woman and the phone rang she answered it and asked all around who takes the phone order poor chase/chaz had to stop what he was doing which was everything and take the order. I left with my good at 12:50. I was a carryout I don't know how long it usually takes but I just figure if drive thru food gets their order in about 5 min or less why was I there for over 20 minutes. So I get in my car eat an onion ring and it is greasy and soggy and absolutely repulsive all that greas was horrible. So I took it back in and told them I just wanted some fries instead. For my first time earing steak and shake I was thoroughly disappointed. The burger was good though. And my server chase or chaz I can't remember his name was absolutely wonderful he was over worked but he was still very patient with me and everyone else..

The steak n shake in Branson Missouri was my go to place very rarely was anything wrong. Now I live in NWA & the one in rogers Arkansas is screwing up on each occasion. Chili 5way & a coke is what I order every time & each time it's either a flat coke or just a 3 way! Every time, the product or service is far from good. I go there 1 or 2 times a week hoping it gets resolved but I'm disappointed each time & I Love steak n shake! I had a poster as a kid on my wall!

This is only half a complaint. The complaint is that some of the employees called off leaving 2 all on their own. Now in my opinion managers should be in here covering. Starting with the head honcho then working down the chain until some one was here to help.
I applaud the two emoloyees who were able to still provide fast and friendly service. These two should definitely be rewarded for their rise to the occassion.

We stopped in at Steak n Shake in Elizabethtown Ky with r kids to spend some time after shopping.We artived at 8:30 and ordered 4 holiday milkshakes we DIDNOT receive our shakes until 9:15.That's totally uncalled for.We went back to get the money back as they met us at the door with them.We said we wld never be back.I hope you get this settled this is bad buisness .Thank you

I had invited my friends to Branson for the weekend. They had decided to eat Steak N Shake for dinner. We eat at the ones in Springfield MO and they have wonderful service. When they stopped at the one in Branson they were there for over 2.5 hours. When they first came in they waited for a table and the hostess sat others who had come in later before them, making their wait for a table over 30 minutes. Once seated they ordered their drinks. The little girls wanted chocolate milk and the others just got soda. The sodas were brought out, but after reminding the waiter 3 times they finally got the chocolate milkshake, after about 20 minutes. Once the food arrived they were short a set of silver ware. When they asked for a set so their daughter could eat her Mac n cheese the waiter said, ummmm I don't think we have any clean. So she ate her Mac and cheese with her fingers. Finally they had ordered 2 shakes that never came. Once they gave up in getting the shakes they went to ring out and they told them to take the shakes off the ticket because they never got them. The waiter butted in and said oh shoot I forgot, I'll go ahead and save u some money by taking them off. He was not saving them money. There is no reason to pay for something you don't get. To top all this off their waiter was a manager. I really feel like you need to look at this location and figure out what is going wrong. My friends where ticked by the time they left they went strait back to the hotel because they had wasted the majority of their night there. That put a sour taste in their mouth for Branson and actually don't really want to go back. I hope if not anything this complaint helps you realise the issue you have at that location.

I used to love steak n shake, but the last time I went, circa June 2016, I waited 20 minutes to be seated, with one other person. I could see 10 open tables and was finally seated. It 8:30 at night and the restaurant was half empty. It took almost 40 minutes to get our food and was sadly unimpressed with the food and the service. I figured I would give it a second chance last night. Again I showed up as a pair to a half empty restaurant. We stood around for almost half an hour, more than one family came in behind us and left in the time we were there. I got hungrier and hungrier and we finally left as well. I am sad to say I will not be returning to a restaurant that was once my favorite.

On 12/9, I made an online order at 3:50. I didnt receive my food until 4:32. I understand that they were busy and that wasnt the main thing that bothered me. It was the fact that I had to go inside and get my food. Mind you online it specifically says that you can go through the drive thru or go inside to get your food. A girl by the name of Chelsea told me that she was unable to get my order and that I would to come inside. I just had a baby and Im in a great deal of pain so that was the whole point of me ordering online. When I got inside, they told me they had to make my food fresh so I had wait another 10 minutes on top of the 15 minutes I had already waited. All the manager (Nate) could say was sorry and she (the drive thru girl) was msinformed. Thats unacceptable and she definitely didnt seem like she was new or anything. I wasnt offered anything for my inconvenience and again unacceptable. I never let my customers leave without being satisfied and Im definitely not satisfied. Customer service is all about making customers happy or directing them to something or somebody who can.

I went to the steak n shake in wood river il on dec 8th at 11pm. The service was terrible! We waited almost 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. My boyfriend ordered cheese on the side and they doused his fries in it. We asked for to go drinks and the waitress completely forgot about us. The tables around us were complaining about the service too. The manager acted like she didn't give a [censor] and only had one speed. I used to love eating at steak n shake but the past few years I dread even going there to eat. Its not just wood river, its also collinsville and ofallon. Get it together steak n shake! You just lost a loyal customer!

When you say you're open 24 hours it needs to be clear that only the drive thru is open the whole time. Even the signs say they are open 24 hours. And they also have the doors unlocked and had a waiter inside. We went inside and they told us they were closed but it depends on the time when they close. And the drive through took forever and the man had an attitude and was very rude to us. Took 30 minutes for us to get our food.

At 1030 this morning, I went through the drive through (as I do up to twice a week!) & ordered my food & my son's food, then went home. Steak n shake is 20 minutes from my house, we get home, I take my son's clothes off & we open our food... my burger was a mess, the food wasn't on the bun. It had slid everywhere, the lettuce was shriveled, I tried to put it back together & it just wouldn't stay together. I've ordered this before, I don't know if there's a new cook or it's a lack of customer service & carelessness when building the burger; but I am very displeased. I usually come here because it's affordable & with a 3 year old, it's quick! I am not happy with what I received today.
the garlic double steak burger

I went thru drive thru; ordered a garlic double steak burger, no cheese, w/ fries & drink. Got back to my work. My burger had only 2 pieces of meat & the bun - no condiments, lettuce, tomato, etc. This was the worst burger I have ever gotten from SNS. It was cooked beyond recognition & flavor/taste. It had no flavor at all; was hard and tough, almost like jerky. The only good thing about it was the garlic spices ON the outside of the bun.
