I am writing to you to raise an issue about: Restaurants
The issue that I have experienced was: We reserved a table for 4 people and mentioned in the booking that one of the guests would be in a wheelchair. On arrival at the restaurant we were taken to our table but there was no way to sit close to the table in my wheelchair due to the large table leg blocking the way. This was mentioned to the staff member but we were told I would have to transfer to the bench seating or go elsewhere as they had no other tables available. I managed to transfer but this caused a lot of discomfort and pain and shouldn’t have been necessary as they were prewarned I would be in a wheelchair. I asked where the toilets were and were told up the stairs near the bar. I asked about the disabled toilet and was told it was in the same place. How on earth was I supposed to get there from our seating area? I was certainly not able to walk up stairs! The suggestion was I go out into the shopping centre and use the disabled toilets out there instead. Our meal was of poor quality. Chicken fingers and fries cost £17.99 but was only 4 chicken fingers and was lukewarm. Nachos were sent back as sloppy, tasteless and inedible. The half rack of ribs was smaller than usual with only 5 pieces of rib. We had to chase for this after waiting for over 5 mins after rest of our food had been served as it had been forgotten. When it arrived the food had obviously been sat under the hot lights as the corn on the cob was dried up and unpleasant. The cocktail we ordered was served in a much smaller glass than previous occasions and was very watery and didn’t taste like it usually does. We raised these issues with the waitress but were told all she could do was remove the nachos from the bill. She did not really seem bothered or concerned that we had a very unpleasant visit. We were told manager was unavailable.
It occurred on: 2024-02-04 at Bluewater Shopping Centre
This meant that We had no choice but to pay despite having a very unpleasant visit. It was a special family occasion and it was ruined by the poor service and food. We felt totally uncared for and I was embarrassed that despite knowing my disability needs in advance they still didn’t cater for them causing me much difficulty and pain.
Desired outcome: Apology, refund and compensation
