Pep boys service,damaged car gas line
They damaged the gas line while servicing the car, couldn't fix it ,took the car apart after keeping it 2 weeks,sent it to Honda dealer in a terrible condition that could not be worked on. I had to tow it back to Pep Boys to put it back together and then tow again to Honda. This ordeal is for over 3 weeks now and still problem not solved. I had to use rental cars and Uber, I have all receipts of charges. They had a terrible attitude, incompetence, unprofessionalism and careless. This happened in the 4800 Kirkwood highway Wilmington DE 19808 location where I was a customer for many years. Manager in charge Sean Norris.

I put my car in the pep boys on bustleton avenue 7422 August 19th and they still has my car as of today which is the 13th of September it is very hard to get somebody on the phone there because it seems like no one likes to answer when you call and they keep giving me the runaround about my vehicle I warranty company and they said they have a hard time reaching them also so we can get to this car fixed and out of that location I think it is bad service there and I wouldn't advise anybody to take their car to have it fixed there because it shouldn't take a whole month to get my car fixed plus it seems like no one cares if it sent out there in that parking lot forever I talked to their manager Jose and seems to me he is giving me the runaround also keep telling me he's going to call the warranty people and get the ball rolling but I've been hearing that for 2 weeks now and it's still sitting there it's like he holding my car hostage it's bad for business I even call the tire service and the parts department and still no answer I even called four five times a day can't get through to nobody how do you guys make money at this location if no one answered the phone please if you can help get up with that location and talk to someone about fixing my car I will surely appreciate it if someone can get through to them and fix the problem they're having there with the phones and everything else thank you very much sincerely Frank

I am writing this letter to inform you of the poor services, that I've recently experienced, at a facility baring your name and logo. I am very sorry, about my disrespect. My name is AL Perry.
I came into that location, the gentleman that checked me in asked me, "what wheels are you having repaired?" I responded with, "WHEELS?" No, not at all. I said that, I was experiencing a noise on the passenger side of my car. It happens whenever my car hits a bump in the road. So, I was checked in. Moments later, I was informed that the sway bar was loose and needed to be replaced. Now, please pay attention to this. I recently had my sway bars, (on both sides) replaced less than a month ago. Because I assumed that these gentleman were vehicle Mechanics, I went along with them, and ordered a new one. After I'd ordered the sway bar, I was told that I will be needing to changed my shocks and strut's too. Why wasn't that option presented to me at first, or even during the conversation about the sway bar? Well, I have a list of work that indicates that it had been done, and completed on my vehicle. Now, my vehicle is worst off than it was when I first brought it in. I've contact that store several times expressing this. And, I've also asked for my part that have been taken off of my vehicle. Although I have spoken with a few employees about this, they have not returned my calls about the requested item. Although I am not enquiring of a refund, I would enjoy having quality services.

Confused
A few years ago I went to pep boys for an oil change and tire rotation. They called and told me I needed tires. I knew I didn’t need tires and I said okay. The man got mad because I wasn’t interested in buying a set of tires and told me that he hoped I was going to park my car cuz it wasn’t drivable. He didn’t know that the tires had been inspected before I came in. I vowed I would never go back but I returned. This time there was new staff and it was a much better experience. I recently had my car towed there for servicing after my serpentine belt came off and I asked them to change the oil and rotate the tires while they had the car. They called me back and told me that they needed to replace the water pump and I agreed. They called back and said they replaced the water pump and refilled the antifreeze. I was then given a total of 908. but when they checked the car, they noticed I needed brakes on the front. I authorized the brakes and rotors. They were finished with the car in about 2 hours but I couldn’t pick it up until Saturday. On Thursday my car was overheating I went back to pep boys and they said my radiator was damaged. The lady told me that I must have hit a curb because it looked like something had been jammed in the radiator. She got upset when I disagreed with her. They say that they didn’t see any damage when they had the car but the receipt shows the radiator was drained and refilled. I didn’t authorize this. No one else touched the car. I had my car towed and repaired by someone else and no matter how convenient the shop is, I will never go back to pep boys.
Desired outcome: I would like for them to acknowledge that they didn’t check the radiator when they replaced the water pump and the money I spent having the car towed to another mechanic and additional repairs to replace and install a new radiator.
Over torque of spindle pin on brake repair
Dropped my husbands truck at Pep Boys for a complete front brake repair. This included all parts such as rotor, caliper, brake pads, bearings. We paid $984.80. In a week and a half after repair my husband was on his way home from work when the front left tire completely separated at the bearings. This resulted in an extreme pull to the left which could have overturned the truck. This also could have caused a severe accident. Luckily that was not the case. We had to pay $138 to have the truck towed to another shop. We were told that Pep Boys had over torqued the spindle and that is what caused the problem. We had to replace all the new parts and pay again for labor. This ended up costing us an additional $1,983 that we did not have. this was in addition to the $984 we had already paid Pep Boys.
Desired outcome: Would like the cost of additional repairs and towing refunded to us by Pep Boys and would also like to have the original $984 refunded as well.

Brought my car in [protected] after my car starting leaking antifreeze and the steering got really tough to turn. Turns out it was the water pump. The car was in the shop a day and a half. It cost me $1105.46 to repair.
Two days later I decided to use the car to make a quick trip to Gurnee, IL and the car starts jerking an twitching and acting like it wants to stall out. I assume it's an oxygen sensor issues seeing as how it's happened before. What I don't understand how they missed that while giving me a list a mile long about whats wrong with the car.
My friend seem to think they are doing things to my car to get me to come back. And I'm starting to believe them.

I went to pep boys in East Tremont of the Bronx on 06/29 for brakes system inspection, wheel alignment, oil change and for my light switch. I picked up my car at the end of the day and drove home. My home is less than 3 miles from the shop. The following day on my way to work, the car died at a stop light. I thought it was just a fluke, then on the way back, it died 2 more times. I brought it back and explained that my car has never died before and that there was no “check engine” light when I brought it in. They kept on reiterating that it was due to negligence and we have declined suggested services to prevent that from happening and that “it coincidental that it happened after the service.
It was a very stressful experience. We were at the same location 2 years ago and paid over 5 grand for repair and maintenance. We rarely use the car since we work remotely. But the nerve of the worker to call us negligent was the last straw.
This is a horrible place of business with no regard for quality of service and safety of car owners.
Oil change service
On 6/24/22 I came in for an oil change and tire rotation to SM location as always only this time my car was there for 3 hours When usually all listed below is done within 2 hours tops! I am not sure if the oil was even changed even though I was charged for a synthetic oil change and service. Cant tell if my tires were even rotated as they are under inflated and not filled to specifications as they would be after a service. Untouched! My washer fluid is empty as well and there is no sticker showing next oil change date and milage that is usually put on the windshield. I am very concerned and upset that the basics were not done and left me wondering if anything was done at all?!?. Location #1672 order#2129594
Desired outcome: Please refund! I believe I should be reimbursed and/or given a free oil change and all the above listed done this time correctly. Although I am hesitant in trusting my vehicle to this Pep Boys location or at all.
(4) Tire Purchase Price
Date, 6/25/22 at aprox 5pm. I needed 4 new tires for my Cadillac SRX. I had been calling tire places that Saturday morning. I was telling the counter personal, what size, model and make I wanted. I was asking the total installed cost each time. Most places called were almost all the same. $1,058.00 total installed and balanced. I told them tires only! Your company quoted me was right with others, but I chose your company instead since I felt you were more reputable than some of the others and you had more locations in case, I had a problem not close to home. I was told by your counter person at your Hollywood, FL. store to just bring in and I would leave it. They would call upon completion. They called me at 4:36 pm after they had it since 11:32 am. I get there and went to counter and told them I was there to pick up car. I was then shown a bill of $1,208.77. I said that was not what I was told over phone, and your representative argued that he had told me that amount. I said that I wanted to speak to the manager, but the guy said straight up said no. Pay the amount or you're not getting your car. I then called police since he kept saying pay the amount or you are not getting car. While waiting for police outside. He walked and said pay what I put down or I am going to call, and have it towed away and then you will get towing charge also. He was so rude and said also. I'm going home so pay now. or its being towed. So, I paid and reviewed bill and found where I had declined extra stuff. I was charged for handling, balancing, new valve stems and even road hazard that is on comments as declined. I told your sneaky, rude employee. That it wasn't over. I would be filing a complaint. Desired outcome: I want money back for difference in phone quote and bill that was just padded up. Call other 954 numbers and you will get other prices that I could have had tires done for. Bill shows declines and all add on parts I never asked for.
I feel Like I am being taken advantage of
on May 31, 2022 I took my 2016 Chevy Equinox to the Pep Boys located on 860 State Rd 7, Hollywood FL.
I am from out of town and while driving to Miami FL for my mother funeral I left forgot to replace the gas cap after pumping gas. Clearly on the gas cap it state 'tighten until click or the service engine light will come on'. I took the SUV to Autozone for a code scan and nothing came back the employee there recommended I put Fuel Injection cleaner in the tank. I did the engine light when off I continue my drive to Fl
Eventually the engine light came back on and I was told by one of Pep Boys representative they believe air got in the line and I can continue to drive the vehicle. However they did tell me to go the car to one of they locations if i have any issues My Equniox did not give me any issues while on the road.
I finally go the SUV to the shop and I was told it was a sensor. Ok, No problem they called me when was done and I information them that once my ride came to pick me up i will be there. While I was 5 minutes away Harvin called me and said " I have another sensor that when out and they will need to contact Chevy to get the part. I asked if I can drive the car and was no!
I don't understand The I said. when you all connected my SUV you said only one code was showing now it's something else. I did express tha0 to Harvin that I felt like they were taking advantage of me because I am from out of town. As I was leaving my car was the only car at the store being worked on that has an out of state plate on it.
So I left my car this morning June 1, 2022 Pep Boy did not call me I called them around 10:30am to see if they had a price on parts and labor. Harvin stated he has to call me back. Once he did he stated that the price will be $321 plus the $560 that was quoted for the first sensor work.
I waited all day and no one from Pep Boys reached out to me so around 5:30 I called back again and Harvin placed me on hold for 20 minutes. One of my older brothers asked me how long have i been on the phone and i said 19 almost 20 minutes, so my brother called and was placed on hold as well. another 12 minutes go by and my other brother calls the store as well. He was also placed on hold. Harvin finally came back to the phone, but not my line. by this time I have been on hold for almost 30 minutes. Harvin pick on and offer help my first brother that called in. My brother passed me the phone and I state who I am and asked if I can come and pick up my car. That's when Harvin told me that the mechanic said my car will not drive and now I can have motor problems but he will not know that until the master mechanic come tomorrow and look at the SUV.
Desired outcome: NOW I drove my car to pep boys which is over 5 mins from my mother's house, and it was fine! I honest feel like I am being taken advantage of. This needs to be address ASAP
AC Unit
This is to notify you regarding my recent care repair that did not go very well.
I had asked customer service rep to repair the AC of my Honda Civic 2018 on 04/09/2022, which they said didn't appear nothing wrong with AC unit and just added freon at store ID#0598 and Work order# 2288927.
It worked until 05/21/2022 not cooling and it blows hot and when I start the care then again it blows hot air and brought back to Pep Boys for reexamine the car again and after re-evaluating the AC unit they said is going to cost over $2,400.00 to have it fix

I Have not received A notice regrading this issue or a refund from pep-boys once notifying the sheriff's office I was told to give it six months before hearing anything from pep-boys once I call the sheriff;s office again in regards to moving forward it was stated that I could recoup my money with a sheriffs sale at the cost of $75.00

This is my third attempt at sincerely requesting a response to my complaint that PEP Boys compromised my suspension system from not accurately diagnosing the cause and damaging my Stabilizing Link prompting my traction control and ABS system to shut down. Safety issues are the paramount issue. I have to get a New York State Inspection before the end of the month and have my car repaired. I paid $6, 000.00 to have my car repaired. NO response within the 45 hours, This is not a “query”.

I have spent a total of $6,086.73 getting my suspension repaired at your 345 4th Ave, Brooklyn facility. On 12/8/21, I brought my 2014 Cadillac to your 4th Avenue, Brooklyn facility indicating a sound emanating when I brake or depress the accelerator. After a $3,064.55 repair bill the issue was not resolved. Recently my ABS and traction Control lights highlighted on the dash. I took the car to Cadillac and during examination, he discovered that PEP Boys, according to the Cadillac Technician, in writing states PEP Boys “left front wheel speed harness and convector damage. Right front suspension harness from strut damage due to suspension repair at PEP Boys”.
I am not seeking nothing more than my automobile being repaired. As a customer that has spent a considerable amount of money with your organization and all my bills have been paid and if you are not interested honoring your commitment to quality service that would be very concerning.
