customer service / additional costs
On December 16th, I walked into The UPS Store #112 in Waterford Michigan to ship a package to myself in Key West, Florida (didn't want to carry my luggage). At that time, I was charged $19.20 for deliver. On the 22nd of December, I went to the post office to pick up my package and was informed that it would cost an additional $17.76 to retrieve my package...

Word of warning about "The UPS Store", especially the one in Abacoa, #3563... they do not stand by the service the sell to the customer, nor do they admit when they have not provided the service as promised and provide a refund. If you are reading this Michael, yes, I am mentioning that OK had a blizzard, but that does not change the fact that my package...

I contacted this store the deliver a printer that I had sold to a person in another state. The printer was large and heavy and I wanted it to be delivered with the best care possible. My first big mistake was thinking that UPS cares at all about the packages they ship and the care even less about what the UPS Stores do. I told the Owner/Manager Harsh Kalra...

Paid $93 to have a computer tower packed and shipped to manufacturer. Manufacturer called to tell me tower arrived damaged. According to manufacturer it was shipped in peanuts. I paid $93 to have it packed in peanuts? Outrageous.
Furthermore, it takes about 2 weeks after a claim to get the check approved and sent to the manufacturer. If more damage was sustained (to hard drive) then another claim would have to be made and you would have to wait another 2 weeks to pay for that damage.
Professionally packed? -- Hah! Don't use them--they don't care about your packages.

damage and theft
If you ever get a damaged packed...DO NOT SIGN FOR IT. Last week I went to UPS to pick up my mail. There was a package there but when the owner brought it out, I saw that it had been damaged. Not just a little but squashed down, one side open. The owner (blond woman) did not mention the damage though I did. All she wanted was to get it signed off. I...

I purchased a mail box 2 yrs ago. I just recently now have a physical location and got notice on October 3, 2009 that my year expired on October 1. Nice notice there. I forwarded my mail through USPS. Apparently they didn't process it and I continued to get mail at the UPS store. The UPS store placed a slip in my box on October 19, 2009 saying that my mail...

This one is theater of the absurd. I ordered a product from NY. It was shipped
UPS. I had to return it, so I re-taqped the original box completely the same as
it had been shipped to me. Cost me $25 to ship, which was about right. I got a
replacement product also shipped UPS, the same thing in the exact same box. I
had to return it also, so I put it back in the box, re-taped it, and took it
down to the UPS Store (Woodinville WA, store # 0191). Suddenly, it was going to
cost $41 for the exact same shipping service. The guy at the counter told me
that the box had grown an inch (!) and that was what accounted for the price
increase. I had him pull up my invoice from the last time that I had shipped
it, and he claimed that the box had grown one inch longer and thus cost more.
Instead of working with me, he told me 1. I don't make the rules 2. I will
cancel your transaction and you should ship this someplace else. I was
flabbergasted- the guy was incredibly rude and clearly didn't care whether he
had my business or not. So, I went a block away to the FedEx Store, where they
cheerfully charged me $23 for the same service that I had tried to get through
UPS. To top it off, I asked him if I could have the business card of the owner-
he said sure, here it is, despite (as I found out later) he was the owner and
did not identify himself as such.
And you can't even complain about these guys. The UPS Stores are franchises,
and, as far as I can tell, there is no way to complain to UPS itself about the
situation.
I have learned my lesson.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
He absolutely correct...an INCH can make a HUGE different after certain size or box. I have UPS Account and I missed measured my box and I found later when I received the bill from UPS. Not only I had to pay the difference amount but also I had penalty. They called it Demensional Weight. For instance: your pacakge may only weight 6 lbs but if the box dimension is HUGE then you have to pay whatever weight that box under.
UPS has specific department or a person who making sure that those packages get a correction fee should they put the wrong demension / weight.
The UPS Store is not an exception...if they Mis-Measured a package then they will see those correction fee on their UPS Bills.
The UPS Store are small businesses...unlike FedEx they are Corporate so the employee can make any mistakes...and No penalty.
overcharged
This afternoon, I shipped a box containing my friend's medicine that she had left at my house. The box, which I had padded was 5" x 8" x 4". It had to travel from Richmond, VA to Upper Marlboro, MD. For overnignt shipping, the charge was $40.13. The box weighed no more than 6 pounds. This has to be a ripoff. If my friend did not need it right away, I would have walked out.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Sending a 6 pound box guaranteed for the next morning for 40 bucks doesn't sound like a rip off at all. What did you think it was going to cost?
why not go to the post office? overnight shipping with them is 20.00 + or 2-3 day is only like 9 bucks.
There are also other services. FexEx, USPS and any number of private carriers could have taken the package. How many other options did you explore? And its only two hours away according to the Google Maps. Why not just meet in the middle?
And on a side note: how much should it cost to move a box 150 miles? Supposing one of the big trucks get twenty miles to the gallon your talking more than twenty dollars worth of gas. A two hour drive, loading and unloading and it absolutely has to get there on time and forty dollars doesn't sound too bad.
live scan fingerprinting
I went to get fingerprinted at The UPS Store for my new job on September 3, 2009. Rashmi, a UPS employee, opened up the computer and enetred the information and then I ROLLED MY OWN PRINTS! 5 weeks later my place of employment still had not heard back from the FBI, Rashmi assure me that the FBI results take longer and to be patient. Come to find out (directly from the Manager at the Department Of Justice) Rashmi did not enter the correct information, so my prints were never submitted to the FBI. NEVER get your Live Scan prints done at the UPS store!

I decided to use the UPS store in Winter Springs instead of a post office box. That was a mistake. A UPS store doesn't forward mail once you cancel, unlike the post office. But what made me angry is that the guy who owns the place was rude once we said we were not renewing the contract a second time. He didn't thank us for the business we gave him, just scolded us for not continuing. Unbelievable. There's a nearby storage unit that sells boxes for 5 bucks...this guy charged 90 bucks minimum for 3 months with 30 bucks month to month after.

document printing
Consumer beware! Hidden Fees and lack of clarity of services. - They claim to be the lowest in town on color copies, charging $0.29 per copy, when asked if one brings the document electronically, for example on a jumpdrive they say that is not a problem, however, they do not tell you that there is a $2.50 fee for accessing your jump drive until it's time to pay!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Wow. I'd be MORE than happy to pay the USB virus cleaning fee if I could get 29¢ color prints!
0.29 per sheet for color? That's a bargain... It's 0.39 here

I went to the Arkadelphia UPS Store after having difficulty obtaining information at the US Postal Service--the person was relatively new and could not tell me, definitively, what product I needed to purchase to move my parcel from Arkadelphia to an APO (Military address). I then went to UPS and was told I needed to purchase 2 products (both products of US Postal Services). Since I had already spent 35 minutes of my lunch hour, I was now in a bit of a hurry. I did not receive services commensurate with the amount that was charged. I was OVERSOLD products and did not realize this until taking time, later, to recount the transaction at the UPS Store. Upon making this realization, I went back to the store and asked the older gentleman (do not know his name) exactly what they had sold me and was it the product that I needed--he was EXTREMELY VAGUE in his answers and danced around the question for some time--a customer came in and I was shortly thereafter dismissed. I phoned the store on Monday morning (July 20) and received the same vague response. What the gentleman did elaborate on was the fact that I purchased 2 products there were completely useless, due to the fact that the item was destined for an APO. After he made that clarification, again, a customer's arrival hastened the conclusion of our conversation. I had no issue with the cost of transporting my item, but I was deeply sadden to realize that the objective of the clerk was to squeeze as much money out of me as possible, not to provide me the service and product I needed. I would rather drive to Malvern than again use the services of the UPS Store in Arkadelphia. Thank you for reading.**URGENT UPDATE*** After the above-listed scenario, I went down to the UPS store with a collegue of mine--I, again, asked the gentleman at the front desk for a copy of my receipt--he refused! Not only did he REFUSE, he told me "you are wasting my time, get out of my store." I tried to explain to him that I was a customer who had purchased services and now, I wanted a receipt for the said-purchases. He began to assist another customer and acted as if I was not even there. I must admit it made me angry--I believe the issues are far deeper than my transaction. Again, asking him for a copy of my receipt, he told me that if I didn't leave, he would call the POLICE!--now, this started out as a simple request to get my son a parcel from Arkadelphia to his APO in Germany--he's in the Army--and it went from overselling to calling the police (surely he would have released German Shepards if he had had them in his store). Again, I would NEVER enter the doors of this UPS store unless it was under new management! Besides, I believe I have been banned from this store--I am 43 years old and have NEVER had such an encounter in my LIFE and I have been in 40 states of our union and 2 different countries! This owner is OUTRAGEOUS!

consistently rude and misleading
After my third negative experience in the store I knew it wasn't an accident or anomaly. 1. Owner or proprietor (middle aged male with glasses) yelled at me for buying only shipping tape to leave pre -paid UPS parcel. He then ordered me to buy stamps to "make his credit card machine work". 2. The next time he was rude to my wife for putting prepaid UPS parcel on counter with other outbound UPS packages w/o his permission. Not sure what this guy's problem is but we will never use the store again and have told others to steer clear. When we mentioned to our neighbor our experience, they had a terrible story to share as well. UPS must have no control of the experience in UPS Store 3558 to let this continue.

the worst experience ever
On June 27, 2009 I went to the UPS Store No. 5501 located at 413 Rt.940, Mt.Pocono, PA 18344, ( authorized dealer) to ship a package, I also requested a packaging for which I paid $17 !
On Monday I called the store to find out if the package was picked -up by the UPS, and I received the following info:
1. We don't have the pick-up till July 6, 2009, to my total amusement, I asked Stephanie ( employee), what do you mean?, I dropped the package on Saturday June the 27, 2009, and was told by the owner that the package will be picked up on Monday.
She told me that the package was taken to another store in Dunmore, PA for pick-up.
2. The tracking number showed the exactly same message - that the billing info was received, but the package was never picked-up by the UPS.
3. I called the UPS store again on Tuesday June 30, 2009, and received the message that sometimes the UPS do not scan the packages and it should be delivered today.
4. On July 1, 2009 -still no info on the package, I called the UPS and put a tracer on it.
I called the store in Dumore, PA, only to find out that my package was never brought to that store, and there is no record of this package ever leaving the Dunmore, PA store. I called the Mt. Pocono store again, to complaint and I was told that the UPS BROUGHT BACK MY PACKAGE to the UPS Store in Mt. Pocono. !
It is obvious to me that my package never left the store and it was at the Mt. Pocono store the entire time.
I was called names by the Stephanie ( employee), I was threaten that if I come to the store, she will call the police on me.
THe above mentioned store claims to be an authorized UPS store.
This was a time senstive matter to me. I lost time making all those phone calls, not to mention all this hassle I had to go thru.
but wait, it gets better, I spoke with the UPS Stores customer service, and was told that since I had a prepaid label, the UPS store is not responsible for the shipment !

I have to say after reading this post on the store in Mt Pocono, PA I have to totally disagree with the person. If Im not mistaken there was a change of hands and all the customers that went into the store were told that the store was not operating to full capacity.. But still there was a lot of changes going on.. and as for the employees there they were very informative and took care of all my needs.. I have to say thank you to the Mt PoconoUPS store for being there.. I will always be a loyal customer... as for the post I have to agree with the comment above you were probably one of "THOSE CUSTOMER" I totally agree... one of those customers that make the rest of us suffer and come to think of it no we arent the ones that suffer you are the one that probably doesnt do anything but sit by a computer and think of negative things not to mention you are one of those customers that sends a plate back because it didnt look right.. oh I can go on... hope one day you will see that being malisious isnt the way to go.
I highly dought that... I have been going to the UPS Store in Mt Pocono for years... I have never had a problem with any of the employees there.. they have always been nice to me.. And my friends for that mater... You were prob. just one of "THOSE CUSTOMERS." If your in the working class you know what I mean by "THOSE CUSTOMERS."
lazy owner
Since newest owner, service has gotten just terrible. Loss of customers too. Not open during their own set business hours. Example: Weekdays open until 6pm according to the sign. But you get there at 5:40...and they are closed already and long gone and do not care. And it is not 'now and then' but the majority of the time. If you don't get in there by 5:20...

Dear Sirs: 5/6/09 I want to express to you my dissatisfaction with some poor customer service, which I received at your location located in South San Francisco.
