I worked here at 14 years old. It was my first legit job. I made minimum wage which was $6.45 an hour at the time. I was made to work the cash, make burgers, clean the dining room and clean the bathrooms. The managers eat all they want for free while employees have to use their cards and pay for food if they want to eat something during their lunch breaks. My manager Miguel tried getting me to drop out of high school so I continue working for him. I believe the minimum age of dropping out of high school is 16 years old. Miguel once denied a female employed at the vet office across the street from using the store's phone; she accidentally locked herself out and could not get inside. I could tell she was distressed, she seemed like she wanted to cry. Rude Miguel didn't care. I insisted and argued with him that he did, so he conceded and let the female vet employee use the store's phone. Even though I went to high school, sometimes I closed and worked first thing in the morning. I'm not sure if this is legal. Miguel also allowed some employee to drive in drive through repeatedly to change the 'speed of service' to be lower to please the franchise owner. This goes against the franchisee rules according to Wendy's Canada. While I can confirm burgers are fresh and not frozen, I don't think I ate a burger while I worked there. I may have had a burger I took with me (leftovers and I had permission) after I closed the store, but that was the one exception. I worked with a deaf woman who worked the grill that was very rude to me, she seemed like she wanted to hit me more than once; I was only 14! Another time another adult woman physically assaulted me, all for making a different kind of baked potato (I wore glasses and had bad vision). Miguel let it happen and addressed I stop my 'commotion' and didn't fire the adult woman who used violence and physically assaulted a 14 year old girl. Some store customers saw it but no one stepped in, perhaps that is the average Wendy's clientele. Despite being only 14, I experienced creepy men hitting on me. I once lied saying I was 16 years old, below the age of consent, and the two men who were at least 25 still hit on me. One nice Indian couple asked me how old I was and when I said 14, they both looked sad and said I was too young to work. I tried contacting Wendy's Canada and Wendy's US about this, but they refuse to talk to me.
Claimed loss: $360,000,000
Desired outcome: Wendy's has to pay me or it needs to shut down.
