2006 refrigerator
In July of 2006 I made the mistake of purchasing a houseful of whirlpool appliances from Lowes. The Cabrio washer (cost $900) stopped working a month ago (Sept 2010) - repair cost $600.
The side by side refrigerator stopped working yesterday, appears to be the compressor, a major repair on a part (compressor) that most reputable manufacturers warrant for five (5) years, not these guys. I am replacing both appliances after receiving no satisfaction from either Lowes or Kitchenaid (Whirlpool's parent hold company). It appears that both Lowes and this manufacturer are more interested in service and repair residual income on the poorly manufactured merchandise than on sales, I am telling everyone one I know and don't know (through this outlet) to stay clear of both businesses and their products. So, DON'T BUY WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES, DON'T BUT KITCHEN AID PRODUCTS, DON'T PURCHASE FROM LOWES HOME STORE - MERCHANDISE IS SHODDY, SERVICE IS NON-EXISTENT.

turntable
I called whirlpool company to order a turntable for a microwave that is approximately 5 years old... (the round roller at the end cracked and broke... I was informed that I would have to purchase the entire turn table .. that was acceptable...but... when I heard the price $39.00 plus the shipping which would be about a total of $45.00 to $48.00 that was totally unacceptable... Golly you can go and buy another microwave for that price... and you can be sure that this microwave part was made in CHINA!... Enough of this ballony...My son is working on the round roller as I write... and WHIRLPOOL YOU CAN BE SURE I WILL NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE ANOTHER WHILRPOOL PRODUCT AND I WILL INFOR ANY ONE AND EVERYONE THAT WILL LISTEN... I will post notices up whereever there is a bulleton board, be it church, workplace, hardware stores and to anyone that will listen to my story... People are getting sick and tired of purchasing products that are madein CHINA and as a replacement part is needed you soak the living hell out of them... GoodBye WHIRLPOOL...

amc
Dear Sir,
I have purchased fridge from M/s Sumaria, Mumbai vide invoice no CH/OCT03/0149 dated 05/10/2003. The model is 450 litre IceMagic FF.
Subsequently I had purchased AMC for period 14.02.2005 to 09.10.2010. The mechanics has visited only to attend breakdown maintenance, however no preventive maintenance was carried out as mentioned in AMC.
The purpose of AMC is not only to attend to breakdown maintenance but also to carry out routine preventive maintenance /checks, which did not happen in last 5 years.
Since AMC is expiring, I wanted to extend it for a further period, which I was informed is not possible.
I would like to know:
a. Is there is any provision to extend AMC further? Whom should we contact for further renewal
b. who will be responsible for breakdown in vital parts due to no preventive checks/maintenance carried out?
I shall be grateful if you can resolve/address the above two issues on priority and inform.
Regards

three appliances 3 years old many service calls microwave hood dead
I purchased three products from Whirlpool all were the Whirlpool Gold series. The stove and microwave convection hood were purchased on June 17, 2007 and the Refrigerator was purchased the same year in July. After three months the Microwave stopped working and they were kind enough to replace it. Here we are three years later and the warranties expired and so we decided to purchase an extended warranty as we had many mailings from Whirlpool to do so. I purchased one for the microwave on September 14th 2010 and today two days later the microwave again has completely shut itself down. So My husband decided we should just cancel the extended warranty as it doesn't begin for 60 days and purchase a model from another company without the control buttons on the door face. We called to cancel the policy and they told us that we have to submit our cancellation in writing to a place called Federal Warranty Corporation, P. O. Box 175689 Atlanta, Georgia [protected] What? It said Whirlpool on the letter head with a whirlpool e-mail address but this is a company completely separate from Whirlpool? It does not state on the extended warranty mailing I received that if you decide to cancel you need to submit the cancellation in writing. So I called the Whirpool Executive Office in Benton Harbor, Michigan to see if anything could be done to hurry my refund. They claim to have no connection at all to the company selling the service contracts. Why then do they have the Whirlpool name on the letter head and a Whirlpool e-mail which takes you directly to a Whirlpool site?
I have posted some of this info Facebook so I can find out if anyone else has had trouble with this product and company
dryer not heating
I have purchased all of my appliances from Sears . I purchased a service agreement for my dryer. When my dryer would no longer heat I called Sears repair. This was about September 4 2010. I was given a date of September 13 1-5. I received a phone call September 10 2010 saying my appointment would be rescheduled. I spoke with Anne # 0166 who could not tell me why appointment was rescheduled but said earliest would now be September 21 2010. Her superviser Lare would not speak to me. To think my husband and I was considering spending 1800 for a new dryer from Sears . We will never purchase a Sears appliance again. I will continue to post and tell everyone Sears poor customer service. Sears level of repair customer service definitely has changed for the worse. I am thinking of obtaining an attorney to get my money back for the service agreement. I guess I will have to purchase new dryer from Best Buy or somewher else definitely not Sears. I will let family members who are landlords with multiple properties know too.
Dear Penny28,
I'm Scott with Sears Cares Escalations. I wanted to reach out to you after finding your post here. I'm so sorry to hear you dryer stopped heating and the subsequent terrible reschedule experience you had with Sears repair. I know being without a dryer is frustrating and inconvenient, and the delay and rescheduling of your appointment only made things worse. Waiting this long for service is unacceptable and we'd like to offer some help. At your convenience please contact my office via email at searscares@searshc.com so that we can assist with resolving this issue. Please provide us a contact number and the phone number the dryer was purchased under and we will call you at your convenience. In addition, include your screen name (Penny28) in the email so we can reference to your case.
Thank you,

worst experience of service.
Dear Sir,
I had purchased Whirlpool Fully Automatic Washing Machine from the local dealer one year back.
Right from the date of purchase, we are facing some problem every two months. When we lodge the complaint, service engineer visits after two days & checks up.He does not resolve the complaint by saying some important part is damaged, which has to be brought from Delhi. After 8 to 10 days, the complaint is resolved. The same thing is happening every couple of months.
This time also I had lodged a complaint vide No.- DN0810001907 on 19/8/10 but till date it is not resolved.
I use to call everyday to Customer Care & wish to talk to the seniors but everytime some different person attends the call & denies what the previous person had told.
Everytime the Customer Satisfaction Code No.is given, but it is of no use.We did not provide the code to the visiting engineer four months back as we were not satisfied. After 3-4 days, a call came from the company & the calling lady started argueing with my wife, why my wife had not provided the code to the engineer.
We contacted the local dealer 4-5 days back, who in front of us called the Service Centre & asked to resolve the complaint. But they answered, 'No senior person is available & contact after an hour'.
How can we wait at Dealer's Shop for an hour just to talk with the senior?
It means that the compny does not value the dealer also. Then how they will give importance to the customer?
Just now the Service Engineer has visited my house & after check up, he says that there is a fault in the machine & the machine has to be take to the Service Centre.
By spending Rs.17000/- approx., if we have to wash clothes for 10-15 days out of 60 days, what is the use of purchasing the machine?
Can anyone help us out?

whirlpool front loader washer - one problem after another
I purchased a Whirlpool Duet HT set - washer and dryer with pedestals - a little over $2200 in March of 2006. The washer ALONE without the pedestal base cost $1100 back then. Soon after I bought it, I noticed when I put bleach in the bleach dispenser, it leaked directly onto the clothes. I never got around to calling about that because I was so busy and just started using sanitize cycle instead. Very shortly after it was past the 1 yr warranty, the machine started stopping mid-cycle in one of the wash settings ("Active Wear"). It happened intermittently. I stopped using that cycle. Then it started happening in another setting (Heavy Duty), again, intermittently. I called for service, and when I discovered I had to pay a minimum of $60 for a service call, and they told me at very least another $100 for a timer (can't recall if that was what they called it), possibly more, I decided I'd live without those two cycles. I was so irritated that I spent $1100 on washer that was going to cost me another couple hundred to fix about 15 months after I bought it and I had no recourse. Call it stubborn, but I refused to spend more and just used the cycles that worked. Then I started having intermittent problems finding clothes sitting in 3 inches of water at the end of the cycle - finished, machine off, but standing water in the drum. I would have to rinse/Spin clothes again. Then one day opened the door and thought the storm drain opened backwards flow - "finished" clothes sitting in very smelly water. Called the store I bought it from, said the machine was only 2and a half years old (at that point) and they told me how to take it the front off and check the drain inside - a full man's sock was stuck in the drain INSIDE the machine - how did that happen? We never overload it. Then it started getting noisier and noisier when it spun even though it was leveled and legs all touching the ground, plus still with ALL the problems happening above - can't use bleach dispenser, finding clothes sitting in water at end of cycle every once in a while (usually when I needed something in a hurry, of course), finding cycles stopping mid-way (clothes sopping wet/soapy), and once or twice more finding a piece of clothing in the drain when it was never overloaded. Along the way, the door with the oddly contoured plastic front that jutted out (by design) was bumped my one of my kids - not insanely hard, but they sort of fell into it- and it cracked right down the middle. Cosmetic damage since it was the outside only, but looked pretty tacky. Should those doors break THAT easy? Now the latest episode is that entire gasket around the drum has ripped out after the machine made a God awful rattling noise like the drum was off-balance (yes, it was leveled, and only a half load of clothes) and it is finally unusable. Clearly I can't just live with the problems anymore and am looking for a new machine. The store salesman suggested I call Whirlpool to see if they'd at least give me a break towards a new machine when I told him why I didn't want a Whirlpool front loader again and asked if any other manufactured washer would fit on that $200 pedestal. So I called Whirlpool - the answer from "Moses" was "you should have bought an extended warranty"...hmm, an $1100.00 product, and should have spent even more because why? The supervisor Aaron told me, essentially, not their problem, the washer is 4 yrs old and I didn't have "extensive service calls" registered. When I explained I wasn't willing to pay hundreds more on service calls on an already outrageously priced machine that started with real problems after the 1 yr warranty and choose to live with it, AND the problems were pretty much all different issues so would have needed multiple service calls, again...not their problem. They weren't even willing to give me a discount coupon or something towards the purchase of another outrageously priced washer. I'm not complaining about how much I spent upfront for this machine because I wanted a really good washer and was willing to pay for it, but I'd expect it would last longer than a few years without so many issues, and at very least, a customer service department that could understand I shouldn't have had to pay hundreds of dollars for several different fixes for a quality product when I'd already spent $1100. So, live and learn. Either don't drop so much money on a washer (buy a cheap on that will probably last longer than 4 yrs or at least won't sting so much to repair or replace) or go to a company which cares enough about the quality of a product to back it up with at least "something" when there are this many problems. I clearly got a lemon (or am cursed?) and see that the company doesn't care once they've sold it. Out of warranty, out of luck.
customer service
I spent over $1800 on a Whirlpool Gold side by side refrigerator/freezer over a month ago. It was delivered with far less shelving than the space in the unit required and I spent over $125 to purchase and additional glass shelf for the freezer and a large shelf for the inside door of the refrigerator. I thought this was agregious to begin with, but wanted to optimize the use of the appliance and spent the money anyway,
I ordered the parts with the assistance of custome service. The refrigerator part was not the right one and I spent almost an hour on the phone with customer service looking at diagrams online to determine the correct part I needed. They supposedly credited my account for the wrong part that was sent yet I have never received any confirmation and charged me $40.84 for the "correct part" on 8/7. I finally got the part 2 weeks later and again it is wrong. I just spent 15 minutes getting through to a supervisor in customer service ( Jennifer) and another 30 minutes on the phone with her to inform me that neither part that was sent to me were parts associated with my model of refrigerator. I finally pulled out the shelf and read the correct part number from the bottom of the existing shelf that I need TWO of instead of the ONE that the refrigerator came with, and was again told that this part is not even listed on the list of parts for my model number...but she would sh
ip it to me anyway for a cost of $42. When I stated that she should just send me the part at no charge because of the aggravation that I have experienced; she declined. This is now going to take another 2 weeks to get to me so all in all...I will have spent 6 weeks attempting to get my refrigerator configured in a way that it should have arrived from the store originally - assuming that they get the right part to me this time. The first part they sent was a different part number than what was listed on the box...it would not surprise me if something like this happens again.
Not only does
Whirlpool's Custoner Service do anything but provide customer service, but their reference materials are all wrong, etc.
I will not be recommending their products or company in the future and will be selecting a different range, microwave and dishwasher when I have to replace these applicance in the near future.

model - whirlpool professional, deluxe, 340 litres, ff 35b/2009
Sir,
I purchased the refrigerator model no - ff 35b/2009, groos volume - 340 litres on 14/10/09 as per invoice no - 30881 & receipt no - 52388 dated 14th oct 2009 from trishul agencies, jwalapur, haridwar. the refrigerator was dispatched by dealer trishul agencies to our home. after opening the refrigerator, it was noticed that that the upper rack on which bottles are placed was found broken & front type cover exactly below the freezer was found broken. the dents were found on front door which was also noticed by service engineer. immediately the complaint was given to dealer trishul agencies 4 - 5 times between november - december 2009. no response came after the complaints on the telephone & directly visiting the dealers shop. no service engineer arrived to attend the complaint. we repeatedly telephoned to trishul agencies regarding this complaint, but no response came. they are not showing us the registers on which they registers the complaints. the service engineer name ankit visited on date 17.06.10, he registered the complaint of door defect & broken rack. but after that no response came till the month of july 2010. after we had telephonic conversation with the customercare, they registered the complaint on date 21.07.10 and give us the coplaint no dno [protected], on which basis, the person ankit from the service center visited on 23.07.10 but after that no response came. again we started with telephonic conversation with service center incharge harish who denied to attend the complaint. he told us to give the record of complaint of month of dec which was registered by trishul agencies then only we will attend the complaint. the trishul agencies person says that our registers are missing. we have been exploited by service center haridwar incharge - harish & trishul agencies. their intention regarding attending of complaint is not good. from the beginning they are misguiding us.
They are destroying the image of the company. please attend & solve our complaint. we are suffering from since long period of time.

machine leaks
In April we cought our dishwasher on special. It was delivered and stored pending the completion of our kitchen reno. The day after we installed it we called for service as the door was leaking (July 26th) to date the technician has come in 4 times and changed several parts. Today (August 18th) was his last visit and the door is still leaking. He called the Whirlpool tech line and they have no ideas about it. I haven't washed a single dish in my brand new dishwasher nor has it ever completed a single cycle without leaking. Whirpools solution...sned another technician in to start changing parts again. When I asked about getting a replacement machine they told me that my extended warrantee is just for repairs.
When I then asked that if I have a 'repair only' warrantee for 2 years that means Whirpool can change a part every week for 2 years and in the end of the 2 years its possible that I have enever even used my machine they said they don't deal in 'what ifs'. I have absolutely no recourse and can't afford to miss more time off work.
motor of freezer is making too much noise
We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator on 21st June 2009.
I registered a complaint regarding my refrigerator. It’s a double door refrigerator and from Freezer section lots of noise is coming. This is creating a huge problem. I lodged complain on 7th Aug. Then service center professional visited us on 10th Aug and he told us that motor of Freezer needs to be changed. But after that that person never visited us.
If I am trying to call then some time that person doesn't picks up and sometimes gives weird reason that he will come next day or else.
Now suddenly I got message that my complain is closed, while still refrigerator is not repaired.
I have few points:
1. I think we did a mistake that we purchased Whirlpool refrigerator. Reason being your service is extremely poor on comparing your competition. Next time I will not give you this chance because I am not going for your brand and communicating to others too.
2. The noise which we are bearing is intolerable. Who is going to pay for this, obviously you are not. This is just an year old product and we had seen your product and service. Great work
3. Your executive told us to continue running refrigerator. But if the refrigerator stops running because of this or a severe problem comes then will whirlpool will pay us for the refrigerator.
4. My refrigerator is not repaired then from where the hell had this complain is closed.
5. This refrigerator is out of warranty and we are paying for it. Your executive visited us and we paid him 285 Rs for that and we agreed to pay for the motor also. Then still why Whirlpool is not giving us the service. Come on guys, at least give us the service as we are paying for it not taking anything for free.
the call center support is pathetic
Whirlpool is considered a leading brand of electronic products but we have had a very bad experience that has frustrated no end each time we have faced a problem.in 3 years of taking the refrigerator from whirlpool we have had:
1. Compressor changed
2. Cooling stopped at least 5 occassions
3. Water lekage within fridge at least 3 occassions
4. Cooling reduced many times and no permanent solution offered.
The call center support is pathetic. The call is made but no references given even when asked. Engineers either dont report or report much late at night and ignore the time they themselves give to come and have a look. Replacements takes days no end.
We feel so helpless in terms of what to do and once again we have been told that the compressor will have to be changed. What can a consumer do when an electronic item is so bad in shape and keeps falling over.
We thought we chose a good brand and spent 27, 000 on this fridge but please do not buy whirlpool.
unreliable
purchased a $700.00 12000 btu air conditioner that malfunctioned after not even 30 days of use. Contacted company to find out I have no service in my area for repair. In order to return this product I am required a Return authorization number. Whirlpool says I have to wait 7-14 days for this to happen. .
whirlpool your service is crap and I will never purchase another one of your models and I will be sure to tell everyone I know not to purchase another one of your China made pieces of scrap!
not arriving for appointment as scheduled
Once again a failure of this company to provide good customer service. Technician failed to arrive for a 8-12 appointment and I was not notified until 12:05 and then could not come out until 3 pm. The dryer was installed in a closet of an RV and I had help sitting here for 4 hours so that the dryer could be moved out of the closet for service and put back in.
I really hate Whirlpool. I had poor service from a Whirlpool tech at Tiffin Motorhomes - I wish Tiffin would stop using Whirlpool products. They are trying a new brand but did not have any for replacement because they are ordered on a customer ordered upgrade basis. Replacements at this time are with Whirlpool products.
I had a drying /timer issue with the new dryer after one week of having it installed.
after 1 and half month, the power board of the machine was spoiled
I purchased that machine in July. After 1 and half month, the power board of the machine was spoiled and from that time machin is not working. After making so many calls, once the service representative from the company came and replace that faulty board with the old one. On the same day, the machine got stuck with the same problem. After that, there is no responce form the company or Next Belapur show room from where we purchased the machine. Now we are suffering from this problem from almost 2 months.
electric 50 gal water heater
I purchased a Whirlpool electric 50 gal water heater from Lowes on 16 Jul 10. After having scalding water and turning thermostat down, the limit control switch keeping turning heater off and also tripping breaker. Sticker on side of heater says do not return to Lowes; call Whirlpool. Whirlpool advised me there was too much power and to check with voltage meter. Funny previous two heaters had no problem with electricity. On 26 Jul 10, I tried to reset limit control switch. It sparked! I drained the heater (which had no hot water), uninstalled the heater and took it back to Lowes. I was told I could not return the heater by the service desk employee. I asked her to call her manager. When she did, she referred to me as "a white-haired old man" instead of a customer. The manager also referred to me in the same way when I told him to talk to Whirlpool. Whirlpool offered to exchange the water heater for another one just like it. I told them I would not accept another water heater and that both Lowes and Whirlpool would be looking at a law suit because the product would either set my house on fire or scald me or one of my loved ones. I told people I knew entering Lowes and people I didn't know not to buy a Whirlpool water heater from Lowes. After much arguing with the manager about leaving the heater and creating a scene, I was given a credit for the amout of the heater and the extended warranty. I left Lowes (never to ever set foot in there again) and bought a 50 gal electric Rheem water heater from Moore Supply Co. which didn't cost as much as the Whirlpool and can be returned to Moore if there is a problem. I have enjoyed hot water from my Rheem ever since with no problems. It is a better built, USA manufactured heater.

non response to request for repair
I purchased a whirlpool oven from the local store in 2008. The oven worked great - until I received a call from sears - then the nightmare began.
This oven was working fine then at the end of may I recieved a call from the warranty department. They informed me that my warranty was about to expire and informed me that as a courtesy one of their service representantives would come by and perform a courtesy inspection. The sears representative, robert garcia, arrived at my home july 14th and proceeded to completely check all components even removing and cleaning the glass in the door. He was very courteous. We never checked the oven after he left and the next morning we left town. This oven was used the night of june 13th and was working fine. When we returned we turned on the oven and found there was no electrical current to the heating elements. Everything else worked even the exhaust fan but there was no electrical power to the heating elements. I called the home services central office in tulsa, oklahoma where I was given a total run-around. They denied any responsibility and after a lengthy discussion the first representative disconnected. I called back and got the same run-around from "jennifer" then asked to speak to her manager. Her manager, frank, gave me the same song and dance and told me the soonest possible time for repair would be august 19th - three weeks from now - maybe. Since the oven was working perfectly before robert garcia took it a part and checked it and it was not wokring whne he left I contend this is a sears problem. I "grew up" shoppping at sears. All of my kitchen appliances and other articles were purchased from sears but - never again.
For anyone reading this complaint - do not expect any type of reply from sears. We - the "suckered" customer do not exist in the rarified atmosphere of sears/wallmart headquarters.

service complaint
I was lodging a complaint for the last one month with whirpool service centre regarding a fault with my refrigerator. On contacting my nearest service centre at tiruvalla-pathanamthitta district-Kerala state (telephone No.[protected])the service centre staff asked me to to complain to the toll free number, and as per their information i registered the complaint with the centre and the complaint code issued to me was 00049.I have contacted the concerned service centre several times after registering the complaint and no one turned down to repair my applaince. At one occassion the service centre staff replied that the door was locked which was a usual reply to hide the negligence, since all the time two persons are available at my home. For this applaince i posses an insurance cover with the whirlpool which the service centre staff knows .Due to this irresponsible response I have lost the good impression which i have with this organisation. So I request you sir, to take immediate steps to rectify this fault.
yours sincerely

for the last 4-5 months, the refrigerator door open warning audio alarm has been sounding continuously
For the last 4-5 months, the refrigerator door open warning audio alarm has been sounding continuously, even when the door is closed. I had registered numerous complaints with the Vizag dealer, the latest being Ref No. 1022 dated 9/06/07. When the defect first occured, the refrigerator was under warranty which has since lapsed on 30/05/07. I have sent numerous e mails to the head office of Whirlpool India in Mohan Nagar, at least 15 e mails. Not one response has been received from the head office or any response from their dealer in Vizag.
We had registered a complaint in machine malfunction on 29.09.09 and finally the so called service engineer visited us on 06.10.09. He said the bearing is damaged and special tools are required for it, within two days his team will come and replace. Till 19.10.09 no response when contacted same story again a new complaint a new face and!
I bought an AC from an exhibition hosted by NEST in Pune on 10/4/2008 wherein it was promised that installation is free.Later on Company refused and not attending to the calls. The call center is daily giving new dates for implementation
Extremely poor AMC service . I had given complaint about semi automatic washing machine, complaint no MB07090 14505 .A call is closed without attending it ? How is it possible? No latest updated or mob no of Area managers . The no given was not in use.
Hi,
I have also been facing the door-open alarm issue since the time I have bought my whirlpool refrigerator. I have been following up with the service team ever since and the problem still persists. I am based out of Bangalore and plan to approach the consumer forum soon, however, I am not sure if the consumer forum in vizag is as effective as that in Bangalore.
Perfectly right. The customer service has deteriorated like anything and the company is celebrating 100 years. Calls made in the Head Office/ Regional Offices are not heeded to. Casual approach to the problem faced by the consumers. The officers are not ready to accept any responsibility
Even I'm facing the same problem. I've bought a Refrigerator which was delivered to me on 06/06/2009. I raised a request for a demo on 6th June, 2009 to which I was given an Complaint ID (3124). I didn’t receive any call from Whirlpool India from then on. I’ve been following up the request since 8th June, 2009 regularly (7 follow-up calls till date) with the customer care (040-[protected]) but it seems Whirlpool India is not interested in resolving the issue. With this regard I’ve spoken to the Team Leads Mr. Paul and Mr. Joshva (Chennai) but all they have to reply is the issue has been escalated and they we’ll get back ASAP.
