Issues Warranty and Reliability 12/10/2024
On 05/19/2024 purchased a dishwasher M#: WDT970SAKV S#: FD1301120 from Lowe’s Home Center (Documentation attached to the email)
On 06/17/2024 delivered and installed
On 11/11/2024 the Console/Panel started returning weird error codes called Whirlpool to get the dishwasher repaired under the warranty. This is when I found out that our warranty started on the Date of Purchase not the Date of Install. So the first month of the warranty covered it sitting in Whirlpool warehouse, shipping company and Lowe’s warehouse. We lost a month off the warranty.
On 11/19/2024 Ed Kraft with Convenient Appliance Service Inc. unfortunately he couldn’t repair the dishwasher because Whirlpool did not enter the specific problem information into the work order.
On 12/06/2024 Ed Kraft with Convenient Appliance Service Inc. repaired the dishwasher. Again, we lost another month off the warranty.
During the time between the repair call and the dishwasher being fixed I did some research, some of the reviews are listed below. Many reviews indicated the adhesive on Console (W11460908) allowed water (steam) to leak down to the Panel – UI (W11632709). I have attached several photos showing exactly that. (Photos attached to the email) I can tell you we do NOT use the drying function of the dishwasher, rather we open the door and allow the dishes to air dry. So the steam must be coming when the dishes are being washed.
Our concern is the dishwasher reliability may not last until the end of the one year warranty. Which means the repairs will be on us. We had a KitchenAid before this which lasted 11 years with no problem. My wife chose Whirlpool thinking she would get the same reliability as the KitchenAid. Sadly she was proven wrong.
With all that being said we would like to request a 3 or 4 year extended warranty from Whirlpool on this dishwasher. Hopefully the repair done on 12/06/2024 will allow this dishwasher to work for 11 years.
I am open to further discussion on this matter. (This documentation is attached to the email)

Review in in September 2024: Mine lasted just less than 2 years. The user interface and control board completely went out and the dishwasher doesn't turn on at all. I contacted Whirlpool and they will not do anything about it. Awful customer service. My technician said these parts should have lasted much longer than 2 years..
Review in in March 2024: I bought this dishwasher 8 months ago and the control panel has failed. It's clear that it's a design flaw as the control panel is fixed on the top of the door, steam from the dishwasher has lifted the panel and results in an inoperable dishwasher. The unit itself functioned well, with one exception: it took too long to cycle on sensing mode. A full dishwasher would take 3 hours and 26 minutes! How can that be energy efficient? So disappointed
Review in in November 2023: Top rack is useless The control panel got wet along the top and they just came and replaced it. This is my second dishwasher since Jan 2023. The same thing as last time except the wet control panel shorted and they sent me a new machine.
