poor network coverage
Im an airtel customer. Im in the kerala circle. My local network coverage is under 'valakkadu' tower (In trivandrum district) situated hardly 2kms away from my home. But the status of airtel coverage on my mobile is very poor that I misses many important calls. I experience disturbance while calls. Whereas other networks offers full coverage there. I have been airtel customer for the past 6 years. Hope they will read this this and multiply the signal strength under this tower I mentioned.

I am really fed up of airtel now.. I ounce thought this was the best telecommunication company in india.. But its all too nothing I am with airtel from 97 with my number ([protected]) and right now I have byed a new number of airtel ([protected]) and I use this delhi number all over india for roaming purposes.. But I got a such a big headache juz due to their lack of service's.. I was in banglore when they called me that u have exceeded yr credit limit so pleas pay 1000 rs to be in services.. And juz after I finished the call I see that they have barred my services both incoming and outgoing.. I was completely without the phone now.. I went to airtel shop I enquired abut my bill and I paid all 3000 rs completely... And the person assured me that my callz will start in 2 hours... But if the callz wyld have been started I wouldn't have written this complaint ever.. U will really amazed after paying my bills completely and with unbilled amount of only 500 rs they have not started my callz till now its been 3 dayz that I have paid everything.. And my credit limit is 2800 rs.. As my old number which on the same billing address and same name has a credit limit of 64000 rs... I tried calling evry customer care karnataka, delhi.. I made callz of 20 min's three times to customer care but all in vaid they alwayz say you lines will be realized withing 1 hour or 2 hour but still now they have not been realized.. I am really fed up of this caz I dont know how many businesses callz I have missed.. I am really thinking of going to court against them.. As I dont have any other choice, caz the menatl stress I am going throu is som much, that I cant explain.. I came to karnatka for business, everyone over here has my number.. But they cant call me now... I dont know what's wrong with airtel now.. Rip airtel

harassing calls!
I have got the airtel post paid connection at Kochi, Kerala, India. I frequently get prerecorded tel calls from airtel. Many times the calls comes when I am something important. It is most irritating and offensive. I not only hate the company for this but they do not realize that the message is also in a language not known to me!
I have realized similar thing i do not know why they do that. There should be some fine on Airtel for following unethical practices.
DND service in not effective...
I registered for Do not Disturb registry and thought that Airtel will update the same to National DND registery as per the Govment circulation, its been a month and I'm still getting marketing calls especially from Berkley's bank, HSBC, HDFC, ICICI, GE money, Reliance money, and many other financial institutions, Airtel cheats me by giving my phone numbers to them at the first and now without registering in NDNC.

Hi , I never had any problem with your service overall even though its expensive but its really a nightmare contacting your customer care, i really avoid talking or even calling your toll free numbers. 1)The IVR which you guys have, it doesn't have any easy way to speak to the representative directly and now the VOICE SYSTEM that you have introduced it SUCKS badly, i speak the same exact word again eg CUSTOMER CARE your system doesn't recognize it and it hungs up on me.2)And above all when i m connected after a a lot of hard work the agent of your company puts the cal on hold and disconnects after some time. I wanted airtel live service on my cell from last 10 months now the issue never got resolved and after all the worst exp. which i had with your company (Customer care)i was pissed off and i never called back... Please ensure customer satisfaction otherwise me and my family will switch over to HUTCH as their Cust service is good. But we don't want to do that as we like airtel. And i m not blaming anyone , just putting forward my suggestion thats it. To implement or not is your wish entirely.

I too agree with the above complaint. I have a problem with my Airtel prepaid service. Every message i got in my mobile says 'Message Cannot be displayed'. The message from Airtel is reaching me without no problem. Moreover i like to call Airtel prepaid service and i was trying for the past one week. Airtel prepaid service really sucks. When i call the customer service 121, later 1 for language selection and after pressing '198' for customer complaints. To the extreme worst case, there is no one picking up the complaint calls and again the menu tells to choose to know of the balance, tariff and some other think. I too like to switch over to some other mobile operators. Is there any direct numbers to reach customer service.

Airtel is a big fraud and cheater to its customers.There are so many complaints made by several customers but still their top managment is continuing to find out new methods of cheating customers.
Everyday Airtel is deducting Rs. 1.50 from my prepaid account ([protected]) and when I called up customer care for this, my service is stopped completely and all my money was sucked by the Airtel Top Management.
It is better to shun AIRTEL.

I got a new connection from Airtel postpaid of plan Rs.599/-. From Calcutta, West Bengal Circle.
After using it for just 15 days, one of the executive from there customer Care asked me to pay a amount of Rs.400/- plus, as I am nearing to the credit limit.
I said that unless I received any bill and just using for it 15 days how come I can pay the said amount, I also said them unless I receive any bill statement, I shall not pay any amount.
After a week, again an executive form their customer Care. Asked me to pay the total bill of Rs.735/- as this is the bill amount been made in respect of my number. But as I am not in the town, so I said once I returned from my trip, I will pay the said amount by checking the bill. Just on the same evening my connection get disconnected. And I am totally taken back, how could they can do it, After returning from my trip, when I asked to their customer Care.
They said that it is their system of operation once the amount get exceeded the credit limit they will disconnect the service. OH GOD! what type of Operator... they are.
I have disconnected the connection and taken a new Hutch Connection which is much finer way of operation.
I don't know if anyone have any answer for this harassment and way to deal with.

I have purchase the new sim card cell no [protected] from market on 7th sept.07. It was start next day and closed on sunday 9th sept.07. I asked for this to the retailer at nehru place new delhi, he sent me for air tel showroom for start the sim.
Airtel showroom at nehru place tell me card is hanged it will replaced and charged rs. 225, if you required free of cost go to our circle office at d-184 okhla ind. Area new delhi. When i was go to okhla office on 11th sept.2007 they told you will pay rs. 225, because the free replacement scame is closed. There are many other customers with the same bogus sim cards but nobody help him out.
In meanwhile airtel made me fool by sale the defective sim cards.
Now i am pay rs.225. And take new sim card.

no credit given for easy recharge done
I recharged my cell no. [protected] with an amt of Rs.40 on 31st August, as i was running short of talk time. To my surprise the talk time balance was not updated. When i contacted the airtel customer service they said Airtel had launched an old scheme wherein if you recharge with an amt of Rs.40/- the std calls were charged at the rate of Rs.1 per call. The operator admitted that due to some technical problem at their end the scheme had got activated (which was currently not operative) and the credit would be given in 24 hours.. I have called Airtel atleast 4-5 times but each time i get a vague response that your complaint will be attended to in 24 to 48 hours..Today is the 11th of September... i dont understand what is the definition of 24 to 48 hours... moreover the customer service is pathetic... neither are the help desk people cooperative...
the amount is very nominal... but i am posting this mail so that to bring awareness of the kind of hopeless service Airtel provides...

The attitude towards customer care regarding certain problems are the worst.
My problem is about airtel live, where there have been 2 incidences.
The first incident is i was going through certain links in airtel live where by suddenly i got a message from airtel saying thank you for using airtel live. Usually in this case, there would have been a balance deduction for some amount. The system would have taken into account for some download the user would have done. It is very easy for everybody to assume that the user might have accidentally clicked on certain link such that the download might have happened.
But in my case I'm damn sure that i have not pressed on any download link. Even in case i have done, i called up the customer care, where by they ask a standard 24 hours for the system to reflect the data on the download details and then they will either they will refund the money or the content. At least thats what they claim.
But this accounts not to happen 100% of the time. After 24 hours, u would notice that there is absolutely no difference in your balance or u would not have received any content from airtel. After that if u call up the customer care, they would say that the details are still not updated and they will ask another 2 hours(again standard procedure) by then where they will again say that they will give the content back or the balance. Again this won't happen.
The company solely relies on the customer's loss of will to escape from giving the customer their money back. This is called daylight robbery... These people will easily get away saying that the system is not reflecting, or u have made a download thats y the balance or deducted and so on and on and on...
But the worst problem is that, every time u call up the customer care u will have to narrate the whole story again and again to the new customer care executive who will be attending your call...
And he then will register only a new complaint and will give you only a new deadline... But rest assure, not the solution that you seek...
The company is officially robbing people of the money and escaping from paying the money back to the customer.

1. I taken Airtel Magic prepaid card and under this scheme 222/- amount of talk time will be given in 2 months time. First time they given the amount and for second time will be give in next month but when i recharged for 200/- amount they didnt give the talk time. They saying that this amount will be give on first recharge. This condition is not written anywhere.
2. For Friends and Family number also they cheating. If register any Airtel local number within State u will not get the offer. Customer care saying that friend and family number should be only within city. But on brochure they written that any Airtel local number.

According to the scheme, the rate of outgoing was 30 paise Airtel to Airtel and 10 paise to any other mobile in Maharastra. But from last 25 days they started charging me 25 paise Airtel to Airtel, and 50 paise to other mobile in Maharastra, which was not there in the scheme. Since no statement was there initially given for hike of the price, since cheated me for the same. After asking for the reason,from them, they told whether use it or throw it down the card. Also i told that many cards taken before me was not converted to price hike, they reply senseless answer. Airtel should maintain its reputation by keeping words given!

I have purchsed a postpaid card ie 199 rental the executive come to my house in last 2 week before . As the scheme was looking attractive, we purchased SIM (Worth Rs.99/- each).
We filled up the forms and gave all the necessary documents asked by him om 09.02.08. He told that by Tuesday (12.02.08), we will get verification calls and after that your new SIM cards will get activated.
But, till date no verification call has come. When my friend and me contacted on the no. My uncle have same problem, he took sim after inquiring from cust. care at that time operator told that call rates are 0.10 Rs to airtel and 0.30 Rs to other. For 10 days after activation call rates are as per told but then rates increased. He is in police and now he want to get his previous BPL card again..because of me only he buy that Airtel card... in this way airtel is going to do it's image so do necessary i thing that airtel have exclude/remove 2Rs/day charge then only it is same as other service card provider...
improper billing!
I had given my number for safe custody before leaving for us on 8th of june 2007. The duration was from 8th june till 1st september. When I returned on 2nd septemeber. They sent me a message stating that u had 900 rs as n outstanding amt to be paid. On further inquiry I came to know they did put my number in safe cus today. I registered two complains at there customer care (Reference number [protected], [protected]). Instead of solving the problem and admitting the mistake on there part they disconnected my number. It was some sugandha chandel and some anshul, both fropm airtel customer care, who suggested that I should look out for some other service provider.
So I am doing that. I would recommend u people never to trust airtel. They are very deceitful and dishonest!

I wanted two landline connections for my new office and called up air tel at [protected], I was told that the concerned person from the sales division will contact me - I did get a call from an executive ( tel # [protected] ) who asked me about the number of connections I was looking for and was then told that I will get a call in 15 minutes - it's been almost seven hours and no call has been received yet!
I tried calling up again on [protected] but the calls went unanswered and then I called on the same number from which I had received the call and I was told that airtel is in no position to offer any connections - no reason has been given for their denial of connection...
Seems the company has become bigger than what they had thought of and they are not in a position to handle any more customers - and as far as customer care is concerned, I guess they do not even have any idea of what customer care is all about... bad experience!

I have 2 issues:
1. I have a internet connection which was not usable for almost three months on the fourth month I have called up airtel and told them to transfer it to safe custody so that i can retrieve it later and i particularly mentioned that the concerned person have no access to mail and so they have to contact only me and have also provided them with the required information. At the end of the month i found out that my request has not been taken properly when called and checked with them they told me that I they cannot help me as they have sent the details to the person mail id and that’s how they work , when I said I have already mentioned that this person cannot access emails and it has to be sent only to me they said they don’t know anything about that and this is how they work.
2. I have another airtel broad band connection with phone. I have paid my bill and my line is active and when I tried reaching my house for some reason it said the “The airtel number you have tried is temporarily out of service”. When I asked him why this happened inspite of me paying the bill they said it how we deal and we have a process and according to that they will attend only when we request and they don’t bother.
They finally told me that I cannot do anything or they will not answer me and hanged up the line.
Someone advice, what can be done to these people and where is it possible for me to register complaints.
I had applied for a post paid number on the 25th of January, and I was told that my number would be activated by evening. Till today, i.e 27th of January my number has not been activated. When I called up the post-paid helpline number, I was told the number alloted to me( [protected]) and the SIM [protected]) already exists with some other customer. I bought the number from the Airtel showroom in New Friends Colony, and had furnished my id proof and residential proof as required. It was shocking to know that such an incident happened, and I would not be surprised If nobody from Airtel corrects the error.

I have received the bill for the month of Sep which is 2116 Rs. My plan is 749
unlimited download. Since last 3 months my connection was treated as safe custody
connection as i was not using internet. When i came back then i requested to
activate my old plan but i think that has not been done, and the bill has been
sent to me as per the tariff charges of the secured plan. Please change my plan
as already requested as i wont be able to pay the current bill which is wrongly
generated on the secured connection. Please resend my bill so that i can pay it
timely.

In response to the above mail i have received a mail which says that "no adjustment is given as checked in the bill all the charges are correctly charged.We kindly request you to switch of the modem whenever it is not in use. "
I think you people haven't understood the problem well. I didn't said that bill has been charged incorrectly. I said that because my plan was 749 unlimited, and i have put it into secured connection for 3 months. When i asked the customer service representative to resume my services i EXPLICITLY told him/her that please change my plan as per the old 749 plan.And he/her informed that I just have to switch on my modem and my plan will be activated as per my old 749 plan. So i started using my Internet according to that plan.
Now if somebody in your team hasn't done his/her duty properly then it is not my fault.
If i would have been aware that my plan is still under change i wouldn't have used it that way. You can check my billing record and the bills also which are all paid in time and bills are also consistent.
This is harassment of the customer which I won't accept at any cost and will do anything required to resolve it.And I won't be able to pay my bill till this issue is resolved.
Worst customer service I come across with Airtel and particulary regarding internet connection.

we have registered new Airtel Internet connection.For registering they took 1000 RS. after that no response from them .I called to customer care service to give complaint, they told complaint should be taken after 7 processing days.After 7 days they are telling we are unableto give connection in that region(kandhan chavadi), then again i called from another mobile and asking abt internet connection, they are saying with in 0ne day they will provide connection to that region but u should pay 100o rs. The customer care people saying that ur application is not updated properly .they had not even given connection nor even money, no response.
I REALLY FEEL VERY BAD ABOUT AIRTEL INTERNET CONNECTION.
I am shocked twice. Because a likewise incident is awaiting to happen to me. I applied to convert my prepaid to postpaid on 17th Feb, It's over five days i haven't got the service activated yet. I am not getting time to reach all over again there. Who knows same might happen to me.

I have recently signed up for a broadband scheme with Airtel for Rs 1,999 per month. After all installation and activation was done, I got a call from an Airtel representative the next day telling me that this amount of 1,999 is exclusive of service tax @12.36%. I was furious and wrote to Airtel stating that this clause:
1. Is not mentioned on their website where the product is advertised, not even in fine print
2. Is not on the brochure handed out to me by the guy who signed me up.
3. Was not even mentioned verbally at the time of sign-up.
I got a call today from the rep telling me that "it is always like this" (that service tax is extra). I am willing to buy that because when I sign up, I am watching what it will cost me per month; in this case, it's not Rs 1,999 but Rs 2,247. This should be told upfront and not left as a vague, ambiguous clause.
If a consumer is not specifically told that charges are exclusive of tax, they will do right to conclude that tax is included in the charges quoted to them.
This will go to consumer court, and I will keep you guys posted.
recharge vouchers and local call rates
I am an airtel delhi user since march '06. The problem these days i am facing, is the talk time given on recharge vouchers. Earlier if anyone got his/her account recharged for,say, rs 50,the talk time value used to be 44 rs. N there used to be no processing fee applicable for recharges below rs 100.
But now, the talk time on a rs 50 recharge is just rs 36.50. And even a processing fees is applied. What the hell is this. We pay up 50 rs. And the talk time is around 15 rs lesser than the recharge value. I agree that the service tax has increased but it hasn't increased that much.
Secondly, airtel promotes its new schemes for std/isd. 56% cheaper roaming rates. But less is worked upon towards reducing the local call rates. Now a local cal to airtel costs rs 1.20. And evn a msg costs re 1. Even if i go for a sms value card, then the problem is my call rates don't reduce. Only sms does. And i cant go for 2 value cards at the same time.
For eg. The 69 rs card in hutch gives sms at 20p, calls to local hutch at 49p, and to other mobiles at 99p, and std at 1.32 rs. And in airtel the 69 card is nothing but a waste. Sms costs re 1, local airtel to airtel costs 60p, to other 1.20 rs, and std is 1.65 rs.
Now i just want say to airtel, why ths greediness. At least think about the normal local calls sms using customer.
u guys need to do something with the local calls rates... its high and a week ago few of my friends they also changed their sim to hutch. u guys need to do something with this thing. come up with innovative schemes like a2a free call after 9pm and any other packages which u know.

This is Sarabjeet. I got an Airtel Mobile connection([protected]). I have been facing problems because of bad network coverage of Airtel in Pune. I been facing call drops,when my friends dial out my number they get to "Number not reachable". I had logged a complaint with he company 2 months before but every time i ask for update i only hear "Will be rectified shortly".

On my way back from my office on 1/09/07 , Saturday, in between 8.00 to 8.45pm somebody has stolen my cell phone with airtel sim from my bag. I immediately called the customer care personnel and requested to block my sim card but they declined the request and advised to produce a general diary memo of police to nearby airtel outlet, since it was too late so I followed the procedure next day first hour and went to nearby airtel outlet. Here they refused me to take any action on pretext of being Sunday and absence of there stuffs. Then once again I call the customer care and had a talk to a senior personnel and informed him the whole matter and request to block the sim, but unfortunately he rejected my request. He informed me that this sim blocking system is applicable only for postpaid connection but not for prepaid one and my connection being a prepaid he could not able to take any action.
My question is why this discrimination is going on and why airtel outlets refused to take any action on pretext of the day being the Sunday while they kept there outlets open and selling sim for new connection and that are being activated on Sundays in spite of it is a holiday. Having faced such incidence all my believe and respect to airtel, who claims to be the best and largest service and network provider, has been shattered.

airtel live not working for last 1 month!
I have recently got a new mobile of Sony Ericsson model m600i. for last 1 month I am trying to activate Airtel live on my new handset. But failed to do so. i might have stupidly spent 10 ### hrs in speaking to the customer care dept for GPRS at Chandigarh and got no answer. Even I had visited the Worli peninsula chamber office but no one was able to help me out.
I don't know how these companies work with such a unreasonable staff, I am still with the same problem of mine without any solution. I request all the person having any such difficulty to change there services from Airtel to any other subscriber even if MTNL works better than Airtel sometimes.
That is really BAD for these Airtellers.

Refer to the transaction IDs [protected] dated 22 Aug 07 and [protected] dated 25 Aug 07 respectively both of Rs. 58.00 not yet credited . In addition charges deducted against missed calls and received call observed while using Airtel mobile prior purchasing above talktime voucher in first week of Aug 07 . It is to be noted that many vouchers have been credited earlier and talktime was credited but talk time of above voucher/transaction IDs not yet received. Your Customercare No. 121 is accessed after a great difficulty. Subsequently, experiencing difficulties while using Airtel sim.
The Airtel sim number [protected] has been barred by your Airtel Tower without any fault of mine.
Kindly intiate necessary action to restore the sim to normal state. Also money charged against received and missed calls, be credited earliest to facilitate using the Airtel services.
Non initiation of any action, that too from your side (last appeal) may lead to seek legal actions against the mobile phone operator concerned.

My name is Ajith, from Sreekanteswaram, near East Fort, Trivandrum. I've been using Airtel's Post Paid connection for more than 6 years, I've registered a couple of Complaints on the Network Coverage issue. These complaints are still in open stage, now I am what going to tell you is, we've planned a small tour to a local hill station called 'Ponmudi' which is a well known tourist spot. It was on this Onam time, just before reaching the hill top, my bike got punctured, the time was about 4.30pm in the evening. The only possible medium for help that time was my mobile, but it was so sad to realise that there is no coverage for Airtel. I cant make a call, request support, totally shocked situation. I remember the last tower I got signal was from the tower located at 'Vithura', which is about 20Km away from Ponmudi Hiltop, the roads are full of hairpin curves and slippery too. It was a rainy evening, so the temperature was I think touching minus. What to telll you more, finally I've used 112 (emergency call) and connected to Ponmudi Police Station and requested help. They've called a Mobile Puncture-work unit (note the number [protected]) and they've reached there by 9.00pm night. In fact, I had to wait over 2 hours to request help even when a Postpaid connection in my hand. Anyway for God sake, I've managed to reach home by 11.30pm night. Actually BSNL is the only operator has got coverage there in Punmudi region. I found that people for over 20 sq kilometer is using only BSNL mobile connection. I've already told you that I've suffered a lot last day, now decided to terminate my existing Airtel mobile connection and take BSNL. I dont know why they are not aware of the fact that lots and lots of people coming to Ponmudi, it will be higher in the coming months as it gets coldy and still not searching out the feasibility to install a tower anywhere there. They can divert many customers by inviting to Airtel if they've proved good coverage. Huh, unfortunately I've forced to take the bold & difficult decision to discontinue with Airtel as I dont want to take a chance further.

The airtel is providing range upto 2 kms from the tower. in case of indoor coverage, it is 1 km. So ur problem may be solved only by a new tower. so call 121 and register ur complaint.
I am currently having BSNL connection and at times it is worse than any service. My son has Airtel .Iknow how happy he is .But i want to know what are the difernt plans availble under pre paid set up. I also would like to main tian one connection with Airtel.But before that I want oget all the details of the plans.Friends plan and how to make gulf calls cheap etc. kindly send one e- mail with alldetisal so that I will decide which plan i should take
