Amazon wishlist - breach of privacy

I set up a wishlist, made it public just on the off-chance someone would be kind enough to buy me something. Under all the promises of being secure, and that I don't have to reveal my address to the buyer, Amazon will maintain all that information, I publish the wishlist.
I happen to check it and find something has been purchased. I check around and find who has and what have they received in their email... MY ADDRESS in the confirmation of shipment email.
I get on to Amazon to complain about this breach of security, to find the best they can do is report it for investigation. I shouted, some unknown person now has my home address! Well we can at max credit you $5 for the inconvenience.

In summary, DO NOT USE THE WISHLIST FUNCTION ON AMAZON ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE MAKING THE LIST PUBLIC!

Their complete lack of security, privacy and confidentiality is sickening!

I have a copy of the transcript if anyone would like to read it.

Amazon seller perfomance team

Yes, all the stories are true, the Seller Performance Team is arrogant and unethical. They claimed I put my products in the wrong catagory, and the one I qualify for is closed, so I was out of business when they terminated my account. Funny thing is, the exact same products are allowed in the one I was kicked out of, by many others. Ya think Amazon would answer me as to why this is? No way, and who ever said in other posts that Seller Perfomance Team will single you out for punishment is right, but they won't ever explain why. They violate the law in terms of unfair business practices and anti-competitive policies. I am going to read their annual report on line and get as many names on there I can and send snail mails to each director, VP, etc. Suggest you do the same.

I think they only like to do business with other big businesses. As a consumer, I prefer to shop in Ebay as prices are much cheaper, much more varieties, and they have the pictures of the actual item instead of just the condition as listed on Amazon. I hope more people would stay away from Amazon so maybe they become less arrogant in dealing with individual sellers.

Amazon sellers get scammed by buyer, amazon sides with buyer

I recently set up a sellers account and have been doing fantastic. Sold many items (albeit taxed a bit much by Amazon) and not a single complaint or hiccup. Last month, I sold a textbook through Amazon and figured this was just another smooth transaction. I sent the book via USPS Media Mail as the buyer had requested and made sure to send it out before 48 of receipt of payment. After about 2 weeks, the buyer was constantly emailing me (in broken English) regarding the status of his order, but it was shipped and I had advised him that USPS Media Mail may take up to a month at the longest, although that is a rare occurance. After about 2 1/2 weeks had elapsed, the buyer then stated that he was dropping his class as he did not get his book in a timely fashion and that he wanted a refund. I emailed Amazon regarding their policy for refunds through the Amazon market and they stated that it was up to the seller and the seller's own policy to give a refund (or not give one). I then told him that I would give him a refund when he sent the book back to me. After a total of 1 month goes by, he states he did not get his book and he made a claim against my sellers account on Amazon. I fought the claim, emailed them a copy of the USPS Media Mail receipt that I had received when I sent the item and also spoke with my local post office. The post office advised me to tell the buyer to fill out a claim with USPS...HE REFUSED! After all this, Amazon had the galls to go ahead and give the terrible buyer a refund out of my seller's account. I am not a power seller, I am not a business, I am not a 24/7 Amazon trader...I am a student, just trying to get back a little bit of money from the wad of cash I shelled out for my books. Amazon really didn't do anything - they just let the claim stale for about 2 weeks, then gave a refund to the buyer without looking over any of the emails that were sent back and forth, without looking at the receipt from the USPS, anything. I am now closing my Amazon account since it seems to not protect it's sellers and anyone can just order something and claim they didn't receive it -> Open A-Z claim -> Free goods. My advice, stay away from Amazon market, go with eBay or eBay affiliates, they AT LEAST INVESTIGATE and will not hand out returns for fun.

Amazon un ethical company

Amazon is crap and useless company in customer experience too...I placed an order for wireless mouse and keyboard for my partner. I was expecting its delivery on valentines day...Guess what happened ...No delivery on Valentines day not even after 2 days and today after 13 days ...after a long chase and so many e-mails...i received a call from Escalation desk...saying that your order got lost by our carrier Royal mail and she will call them tomorrow to check status ...if they are not able to deliver it, they will refund my money within 10 days.
Awful experience with Amazon...Awful company, Is this the way they do business. Did i spent money to take a refund of it ...As a customer i want my product on time, that's it. Did i expect anything wrong? I think not ..I paid an amount which was asked to pay...why i had to wait, why i requored to write so many e-mails and what about damages...They spoiled my valentine, my commitment is gone just because i dealt with a useless company who has no sense of business... Lady who called me claimed to be from Escalation desk but had no idea what will be the end resolution for my issue... I was planning to buy I-pad from Amazon...Thank God i didnot buy one. Frankly speaking i'll be afraid now while placing order over the net...It is a bad experience and it will last for a long time...Bad Amazon bad...you shouldn't run this type of business if you don't have reliable supply chain...If you continue this way i can't forsee your survival for more than 3 yrs.
I lost trust on you completely and infact i'll think twice before placing an order with any new supplier without checking its review thoroughly... Mukesh kalra

Okay, I understand your frustration with your product not arriving, but I don't understand why you are blaming Amazon for the fact that the carrier lost the package. Also, the escalation person said they were going to follow-up with the carrier tomorrow. I think, if anything, your complaint against Amazon is premature. Wait and see what the escalation person does once they have contacted the carrier. If they say tough luck, then the post is valid. However, if they refund your money or do something to resolve the matter, you should do the right thing and update the post. As far as I can see, Amazon right now is in the clear.

Amazon scam

Amazon not only sucks, but those SOB's stole close to $5000.00 from me. They suspended my account with perfect feedback and without reason, and then they say they will hold my funds for 90 days or more.

They said these 1 1/2 months ago. And get this; they can extend that period every 90 days after another review. What a crude bunch of thieves.

They really know how to make you feel like a worthless prostitute. At least prostitutes, receive pay for their work.

According to my research Amazon Suspends more than, 10, 000 accounts every 3 Months. The average suspension amount is; $4, 000. Multiply that by 10, 000 and you have $40 Million Dollars. These funds are held greater than 90 Days, at minimum.

$40 Million in Tax Free and Interest Free Loans. This is no accident. It is all a very well calculated scheme. And it works, very well. I did some research on other companies that do similar things to raise capital. I was sickened and really amazed at my findings.

I experienced exactly what the others went through. Now I know why they got rid of the Mafia! So they could usher in the Amazon Mob.

They make you an offer you can’t refuse. Then they take your money.

If you want to steal. Set up a business like Amazon, and then steal until your heart is content and your pockets are full. After all, there is not a lot you can do directly.

This is a common and a well calculated practice. And of course it is seemingly legal, because you are almost powerless over a Giant like Amazon.

The practice of stealing by Amazon is all over the Internet. Sadly, I did not do any research until after they scammed me. I was so angry, and then I realized I was not alone. They do this as a way of doing business.

The seller is actually the Prostitute. The seller does all the work. Amazon reaps the rewards.

You do not have to violate any rule. They have to suspend your account, to keep the scheme going. A seller is a worth less than a dime a dozen on Amazon.

What has been documented above and in other forums, about Amazon is only a small tip of the Iceberg. In one forum, Amazon.Com replied to one post by stating "You Can’t Stop Us" .

I have seen over 1, 300 in complaints from Amazon.Com sellers in 3 days. If I go further I will find much more. This only represents the people who have realized that something Fishy was going on. What about the other victims ?

On Sept.16, 2008 after, seeing a Samsung ln52a650 lcd tv selling for $1025 at Amazon. I was quickly placed it in my shopping cart and check-out.But, after several attempted check-out failed, the tv moved to save in my Amazon account, after it stated the tv no longer avaiable. After that, I remembered the seller stated buyers must contact him before buying his goods.I contacted him and he had Amazon set up the transaction.I received the e-mail from Amazon, it stated the seller is an international seller who has an account with Amazon in Italy. And asked me to send a money gram money transfer to the seller because, he can not be able to receive American currency in his account.I did send the money gram money transfer and only send the information to Amazon. After several waiting weeks that i did not heard from the seller, i went to the money gram agency try to cancel my money gram order but, they told me the seller did pick-up the money the day after i send.I contacted the seller and Amazon through the e-mail they sent me but got no answer. Then i contacted Amazon.com and sent them copies of all the e-mails relate to the tv transaction but they said i was scammed .I filled a complaint at Amazon.com.Again i got the same answer. Then i filled another complain asking whether they would investigate this matter since, this seller still selling products on Amazon .com website. But they never answer my e-mail.All the links on the e-mails Amazon sent me which relate to this order are link back to Amazon.com.Except the customer service link to:customers-support@insurer.com.Here is this seller nickname at Amazon website:mconsolo21 e-mail: mconsolo21@gmail.com address: First name : Georgel

Amazon international shipping

As an international customer of amazon.com i am most impressed with their poor level of service. I ordered on - line a number of items for my kitchen. I checked each web page for each item to be certain it was available for overseas shipping. When i got to the checkout page up popped red notices saying two items could not be shipped overseas even though amazon's web pages said they could.
Once my order was confirmed another week was added to my estimated arrival time. Their shipping information page gave a shorter arrival time then on the order confirmation.
Finally, all items were in stock and shipped the same day. Amazon split the shipment so they could charge an additional shipping fee. This is sneaky at best and i would call it dishonest.
If you are outside the usa, i would suggest you look at alternatives rather than order from these sneaky and inefficient types.

Amazon amazon allows bootleg vhs video sales

Amazon turns a blind eye on Marketplace sellers who blatantly profit on illegal sales of an endless supply of bootleg VHS videos of out-of-print movies and prevent the sales of authentic copies of these movies from legitimate sellers. It's very easy to spot this fraud listings and yet Amazon does not investigate, respond to or take seriously any reports on these particular sellers.

Only buyers can expose them by buying a copy of one of their bootleg movies, file an Amazon complaint to get their money back (this is easy because of Amazon guarantees) and leave a "1" score, a big negative on the seller clearly stating that they are bootleggers to warn future customers. Pretty soon, their ratings will come down.

The biggest bootlegger I’ve spotted is DJSBOOKS1

Check out this DJSBOOKS1 listings of rare movies such as My Sweet Charlie (1970), To Each His Own (1946), Movie Movie (1978) and many many more.

DJSBOOKS1 has 755 items in his storefront all listed at the lowest price to monopolize the sales. Almost all are bootleg faked rentals and is listed with one description:

Video quality is Great, exrental. Box cut and in NEWER Rental Case. Slight Wear on case, in Like New Condition. Your Satisfaction is Guaranteed.

Here is an example of a negative feedback left for this crook:

1 out of 5: "WARNING: SELLS ILLEGAL VHS BOOTLEGS! Homemade FAKE artwork put in NEW Clam case on CHEAP new tapes. I am FURIOUS! Charges $$$ for HOMEMADE bootleg VHS copies! I'm sending evidence to FBI. She is a SCAM! Cuts apart artwork poorly HOMEMADE on COPIER! Ruined my TRUST in people! I've been Lied to and GOUGED. She's LAUGHING at every sale! DON'T BE NEXT! Degrades AMAZON'S reputation. She is BUSTED!"
Date: December 20, 2010 Rated by Buyer: allawys

Please help exterminate this crook who is making so much money. Why do I care? Because I see so many honest sellers being robbed of legitimate sales by this crook and its partner Amazon who condones this fraud.

Complaint78,

I know about MovieJukeBoxReplay, the main competition of djsbooks1. This crooked seller has this description over and over again: Listed as ACCEPTABLE because VHS cassette has NO BOX or NO ARTWORK . This is a former VHS rental video.

Meanwhile, djsbooks1 just got another feedback.

1 out of 5: "THIS IS A COUNTERFEIT."

It's funny to me that the person who left that negative feedback claimed to be contacting the FBI. I'm sorry but there's no way they give a crap about a bootleg VHS of an obscure movie from 40 years ago.

Moviejukeboxreplay continues to sell the same vhs tapes over and over. They are all illegal bootleg copies. I know... I have purchased a bunch of them. I'm an expert on detecting bootleg copies. I've been in the video business over 20 years. This guy... Leslie Gocza is a crook. He has hundreds of complaints against him, yet Amazon does nothing about it.

I purchased two videos from MovieJukebox. Both were obvious bootlegs. The newest Bootlegger to hit Amazon is Rentalvidsr, This crook has 1300 of the same videos continuously listed. Funny thing is, each month they sell over 1000 videos, yet continue to have the same 1300 very hard to find out of print listed. Reading through there feedback... every 10-15th feedback claims they received a bootleg video, yet Amazon does nothing about it.

Zachary S. says, "Others just want to see the movie. If it is obvious that the seller is offering copies, I don't see the great harm."

I enjoy this statement and somewhat agree. For the most part there is no great harm except to competing resellers, as it crushed their ability to reap large profits by maintaining heavily inflated prices due to the demand outweighing the supply of their "legitimate copies" of the same "intellectual properties". The real harm is in the dilution of trust within the marketplace. Because unless the seller is indeed clearly labeling their product as illict or say, less than authentic - they are contributing to the degradation of the integrity of the market. If people just want to see the movie they should download it via BitTorrent or a file repository. I have absolutely no problem with that route.

gkenigmatic says, "'The seller sells the same copies of movies over and over and over again.' So does Walmart. What's your point?"

This is absolutely true and gives an entirely new perspective on this in a broader sense. Before long it seems, mankind is doomed to wade through the muddy waters of the global internets to retrieve any and all forms of data in the form of COPIES of COPIES of COPIES and is expected to pay for that priveledge to the owners or arbiters of the "right" to allow said copies to be made. Nearly all physical media will be a thing of the past and ownership will have taken a dramatic and catastrophic shift from the consumers, to the "owners". Entire sections of the economy are being phased out in this manner. As fewer and fewer creative works are released in any format other than severely degraded MP3 and lossy video formats (and indeed even lossless content), people will no longer have the "right" to resell their purchased content, as the copy they purchased does not truly "belong" to them in the traditional sense. They are merely renting it, or borrowing the "right" to use it temporarily. Sure, they can always re-download it if they somehow delete the files or the files suffer corruption but they have no legitimate "rights" of ownership to the file itself. As you can never truly run out of copies, the trend with this format is for the prices to remain locked and set in stone across myriad venues. From iTunes to Amazon digital media is very similar to a type of monopoly - the ones who profit the most are the content providers and their pipelines. The actual artists make a decent chunk of change, but it pales in comparison. Which brings me to my point. Many years back, Garth Brooks tried to sue used record stores for reselling USED copies of his albums and of course it went nowhere, as the purchase of a physical object had been made and was now the property of the consumers. We're at a tipping point here with digital media subverting entire markets and new precedents being set with proprietary devices like iPod and the like attempting to force consumption of rented or vitrually non-existant items, the consumer gets "something" but truly owns nothing!

These two sellers are stealing thousands and thousands of dollars from legitimate sellers. They are thieves who deserve jail time. I do not understand how Amazon lets them continue. Both have numerous complaints of bootlegging among their feedback.

It is infuriating. I ordered a tape from each and confirmed that it is true. djbooks1 included an advertisement for another business (water purifier). This is also a clear violation of Amazon's rules and I reported that as well. What else can be done?

Amazon refund policy

I ordered NCAA Football '11 for my husband for his birthday. I left it in the box and wrapped it without opening up the box. When he opened it, the plastic wrapping was missing around the game box and the disc/game was missing. I mailed it out on November 23rd. They received it November 26th. According to their website, it should only take 3-5 business days to see the refund after they receive it. We are now on the 11th business day and I haven't received anything! I called and e-mailed. The only response I get it is that it should be in my account no later than December 21st. That's 3.5 weeks since I returned it! Ridiculous!

Please educate yourself on how internet purchases/refunds work in conjunction with your bank. Amazon, or any online retailer can submit a refund instantly for you. How long it takes for you to see those funds in your account depends on how long it takes your BANK to approve the refund and release the funds back into your account. Once the refund is submitted, it's out of the retailers hands, and what you're waiting on is your bank to complete the transaction. I'm sorry but it's people like you that made my job so miserable. If your car won't start, you'll call amazon and b***h out the poor innocent customer service associate that's only trying to help you and make a living. Seriously, just use cash, and shop at brick and mortar stores.

Amazon fraud/bait-switch

My wife ordered a camera kit from Amazon,

Kit contained some filters, lenses, lens wipes, straps and a camera stand. Received everything but the wipes and camera stand. After emailing Amazon about the partial order, they claimed the kit ordered does not offer a camera stand. Went to the URL for teh Amazon page, sure enough, they deleted it off the page.
Amazon scrubbed one of the referenced component items off not just the sales page, but also off the history of my order. The flexible camera stand has magically disappeared from the sales page URL and the history of my order with a few keystrokes from an Amazon employee.
This was not a case of, "did she REALLY see it or not?" When she was considering getting the kit, my wife called me over to look at the screen and find out what it was - I recognized it as a flexible rubber snaking stand, I knew it right off the bat.
Deleted the component after a customer orders the kit, and then telling the customer to, "prove it, " by providing the URL (which is now scrubbed) when we said it was missing.

Guess if we ever decide to get anything from Amazon, we'll have to screen capture the item ahead of time...

I placed an order, on 09/26/2019, that Amazon showed zero sales tax. When I checked my credit card charge it was for $2.24 more than the amount the order I placed was for. Later I checked the order history and the the Sales Tax was now showing sales tax as $2.24. IMO this was a bait and switch.

Amazon closed seller account

This is complaint against Amazon.com .After two negative feedbacks posted on my amazon.com seller account Amazon.com decided to close my account, and keep my money (even the money from previous transactions). As amazon.com seller I always mailed my books with the tracking numbers; however, it looks like the USPS tracking number does not have nay value for Amazon.com. I was told that “It is my "duty as a seller” to prove to amazon.com that the buyer had received the book or other item .How should I do it if the amazon.com does not recognize tracking receipt from USPS?
I lost approximately $400.00 (because Amazon.com had refused to pay me at all), my name has been blackmailed on their site and it looks like I do not have any recourse. No one is listening to my site of the story. It seems like Amazon.com can do absolutely anything and there is no recourse to their actions.

Amazon ruined my little girl's christmas!

Amazon.com ruined my little girl's christmas! Most folks I know give their kids one big present and then some little gifts for christmas. As a parent, the joy on christmas morning is watching their little faces light up when they open those gifts. This year, my husband ordered a tv with an ipod docking station for my 10 year old's finale gift. My husband works and lives in a different town during the week. I work until evening in a neighboring town, so my kids spend a couple of hours home alone after school. I was assured by my husband that their would have to be an adult present and a signature would be required by the fedex guy since it was a $300 electronic. This is a horrible economy and surely common sense would dictate that amazon would most definitely not leave something of this value outside for all to see (And steal). And, being so close to christmas, they surely wouldn't leave a large electronic with children so close to christmas! After all, we purchased the tv on black friday weekend! It would be quite obvious this was a christmas present! Well, we were wrong on all counts! I came home one day to find the tv sitting in the middle of my kitchen floor! How did I know it was the tv? Well, it has a large full-colored picture of exactly what is in the box on the outside of the box for all to see! My 10 year old had brought it in from outside and asked me who the tv was for! Omg! I was instantly over-the-edge angry! They had dropped off my $300 tv on my front porch, with a huge colored picture on the front advertising for all to see! In this economy! I'm surprised it was still on my front porch for my daughter to retrieve! Hellloooo! Is amazon really that stupid! They claimed that my husband should have known that no signature was required for delivery simply because it was never mentioned during the ordering process. Does this make sense?!? So, because it is never mentioned, that is code at amazon that one is not needed! Lack of knowledge is apparently the knowledge?!? The a-hole a amazon that I talked with was their customer service manager, joe jenks. He was completely condescending. He was quite possibly the worst representation the company could have chosen to speak for them and this db is teaching other csrs how to treat the customer! He offered me a $30 gift card for amazon for my trouble. He stated that $30 may not seem like a lot but it went far at amazon.com because at amazon.com $30 can go far (Like, perhaps, something from their pedophilia collection that they are so proud of). I asked him if he had lost his damned mind! My baby's christmas was ruined! We are lucky we are having a christmas at all! Amazon, you suck! I will never again buy from you. I believe I will ask for a nook instead of a kindle this year. Poorest customer service I have ever had!

I can tell you are newbie to online shopping of electronics.

Electronics are pretty much shipped in boxes that identify what they are. They rarely get an additional bigger brown box to disguise what they are.

That's why I have to make sure that I'm at home to receive my online orders (DVD player, computer) because if the courier leaves them outside the door, people can tell what they are. And that can be a hassle because you pretty much have to reserve the whole day.

I think your best solution should have been to have this big-ticket item delivered to your workplace.

You basically assumed certain things and got angry when it turned out your assumptions were incorrect. You are a foolish person and you don't even deserve the $30 giftcard.

There is an additional charge from Amazon to my debit account for $16.95 that I know nothing about. I did not order anything for this price. It seems to be an additional charge that was made after I ordered a camera from them.

Amazon charges without my consent or notification

I recently received an email from Amazon.com saying that they were trying to charge my credit card for $79. for the Amazon Prime membership. They said that the credit card they were trying to charge was cancelled and they would charge another card listed on my Amazon account. (the credit card indeed was cancelled by me when I lost it and contacted my credit card company). I didn't know what the Amazon Prime membership was and went onto the Amazon website to see what this was about. I found that they had me registered with this membership and had charged one or another of my credit cards on record with them for the past four years with no notice. When I clicked on the "printable receipt" button an error code was presented saying this information was not available. I tried several times with the same result. I looked at the terms of the Amazon Prime account to see that way down in the terms they state that they will not notify the member of the charge each year. Of course I received a receipt from my credit card company in my monthly statement but it looked like the charge once a year was for some undisclosed purchase my wife had made and I didn't question it thinking it was a legitimate charge for some product she ordered. They charged my credit card accounts yearly $79. each time for four years without receipt sent to me or notification or explanation of what the charge was for. I did not nor would not sign up to pay $79./year for what amounts to lower cost shipping of books when I only make one or two purchases per year. And certainly would not have continued doing so year after year. Their practice of charging you without receipt or notification is an unfair practice. I called to complain to their customer service whose number I couldn't find on their website (I did a Google search for the number that someone had listed in a forum) and was connected to someone with english skills bad enough that I could not understand unless they repeated each statement three or four times. I requested to be switched to a call center in the US and was told that I would have to call again and then maybe I would reach a US based call center. I asked to speak to their supervisor and had to wait on hold with loud music for over ten minutes. When I explained that I could no understand the customer service representative and requested to be switched to a US call center... the supervisor said she would transfer the call and disconnected my connection. I have previously been charged by Amazon for a camera that I did not order and it too weeks and a complaint to my credit card company to cancel the charge. I deleted my credit card information from the website but there it was again today when I looked along with other credit cards I had deleted information for in the past.

Amazon fraud transaction

Unauthorized transactions of close to $400 occurred on my credit card. Someone changed my email address to theirs and gained access to my credit card. Never save your credit card on amazon for future transactions to take place. I have no idea to what extent my identity was jeopardized. Amazon wouldn't give me any information except that they acknowledged that i didn't make the charges. They told me to file a report with law enforcement. What a big help there are! Not!

Amazon account wrongly suspended

Amazon wrongly suspended my account.

I have been selling on Amazon.com for almost two years and recently have been suspended for having multiple accounts which I do not have. I travel and when I access my account at my sister's home (She also has a seller account of her own) Amazon is tracking the IP address and tagging it as multiple accounts. My inventory and listing have nothing to do with anyone else. I do this to provide timely service to my customers when I am travelling. I am retired and this is my only source of income. I follow all of the rules of Amazon and no where in their rules does it state that you cannot access your account from any IP address other than your home computer's IP address. They charged me the Pro Merchant fee of $39.95 two days before suspending my account and will not reinstate my account after in detail explaining the situation. They will not communicate with me by phone or email. We are heading into the busiest season of the year and they crippled my income unfairly. I have read thoroughly all Amazon rules and it does state that accessing your account from another IP address is a violation. With the economy as it is my sister, daughter and three other friends were selling on Amazon and we share information as we learn it due to the poor customer service we receive through Amazon so we can all try to survive financially. We all live in different cities/places and have our own separate inventories and are only linked through helping each other navigate through Amazon.

Everyone who has experienced the same unfair treatment should file a complaint through the Better Business Bureau immediately. FYI the headquarters for Amazon i in Seattle, Washington. In numbers we can fight this unfair treatment!

Amazon fraud/failure to correct software issues

On September 15, 2010 I received an email from Amazon.com introducing their new program connecting them with American Express’ Membership Points program. As I needed two items for my home and could not afford to buy them outright, I signed onto Amazon’s “Get Started Now” Registration process . On 9/16/10 I registered, Amazon then calculated that my 46, 000+ points had a value on their site of $363.00+ for shopping purposes. (This info was not sent to me but it appeared on the screen and I unable to save it.) I proceeded to shop using my points and ordered a vacuum cleaner and a new phone with an answering machine totaling around $385.00--I would owe Amex some twenty-something dollars.

The order was taken but when I received an email from Amazon.com regarding the order, it looked like the points were not used and they had charged my American Express card which is not what I authorized them to do. In fact, I never would have purchased these items if not for my points. I am working a 1/4 job because of the economy and do not have the funds for these items now. I immediately emailed both Amazon and Amex with copies of the order and stated that I thought something odd had happened with their website and the connection to the Amex Points Program.

To date, I have called Amex 3-4 times. Each time, the Membership Rewards Dept. told me that initially Amazon was having some difficulty with starting up the program and hooking into Amex. Each rep. at Amex said that I would be contacted by phone, email or letter to correct the problem of charging my points. Last week, I called Amazon.com and spoke with R. and then her supervisor, B. Both said that I failed to click on the box that said “Use Membership Points” and thus my Amex was charged and that there was NOTHING that they could do about it. I find this hard to believe.

As far as I am concerned, I am falling into the cracks of consumer fraud...I had a come on offer from Amazon, I followed each and every screen/window to register and then place the order and something went wrong...not on my part, on Amazon’s. I am quite a loyal Amazon customer and to be treated with such disrespect and contempt is outrageous. R and B told me to ship back the Miele vacuum cleaner and the phone and then reorder them the correct way by clicking on the points box! If that is not an insane suggestion, I do not know what else to say. What incompetence. I have not only used the vacuum cleaner but I threw out the box and I am not about to pay UPS to pack it and ship it back to them and reorder it...this is the ultimate of absurdity. And then they emailed me two surveys asking if they had done a good job and solved my problem...this is surreal.

I also called Amex Membership Points again and spoke to " C ". He reiterated what all the Amex reps have before, that there was a problem with Amazon and the points program and it has been resolved. He offered to let me use $200.00 of my points towards the $363.00 that Amazon had quoted me...what is going on here? FRAUD. I was offered $363.00+ by Amazon, not $200.00. This is fraudulent.

As a consumer I registered with Amazon, got the calculation of my 46, 000+ points to $363.00+ Amazon dollars, ordered and voila, the computer program that existed at the time with Amazon charged my Amex and NOT MY POINTS! And now I am writing this letter since I am unable to get a human being at either company to think outside of the box and charge my points as they said they would. Way too outside of the box kind of thinking required.

I sent a registered return receipt letter to Amazon, Amex and the NY State Attorney General's Fraud Division with full email back up. And here is a copy of the two emails that I just received back from Jeff Bezos' Exec. Asst. who conferred with Jeff about my consumer problem:

Here is Amazon's email responses to my certified letter of complaint to them: (These are real emails--names withheld to protect me.)

Dear "My Name",

I'm Aaron DeFoe of Amazon.com's Executive Customer Relations. Jeff Bezos received your letter and asked me to respond on his behalf.

I’m sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with your American Express Reward Points. I’m currently looking to see what happened with your orders and expect to have an answer for you in the next 1-2 business days.

If you have additional questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact me directly at [protected]@amazon.com. Thanks for your patience, and I’ll be in touch again soon.

Email #2

Dear " My Name ",

As you may recall, I'm Aaron DeFoe of Amazon.com's Executive Customer Relations.

I’ve reached out to our payments team and they’ve confirmed your points weren’t selected at the time you placed your orders. During the checkout process there are three options to choose when paying with points, and the default setting is to use no points.

We try very hard to make this process apparent and I’m sorry for any misunderstanding. While your points weren’t’ used, I’ve confirmed you do have a total of 58, 082 points available for future orders.

I've applied a $50.00 promotional discount directly to your account for use on your next Amazon.com order. I hope you'll accept this as both a gesture of goodwill and an apology for this bad experience.

When you place your next qualifying order, you'll see the promotional funds listed on the Order Summary page, just before you submit your order. If the funds aren't shown, please read the following to ensure your order qualifies:

http://www.amazon.com/o/tg/browse/-/3145051/

"My name", I’m sorry for all the time you’ve spent and I hope you’ll give us another chance. Please feel free to contact me directly at [protected]@amazon.com if I can be of further assistance.

Regards,

As of today, after being a loyal customer of Amazon.com for years and spending thousands of dollars, I am being told to shove it and pay for it. The corporate culture reeks of GREED and GREED and nothing more. I am appealing to the Consumer Fraud Division of The New York State Attorney General for their help. This is like an entrapment case. I followed the bait, registered with the site, selected my items for points payment and puff, their program had kinks and now I cannot use my $363.00 worth of Amex points. I am being told that I am the problem maker, the one who selected the wrong payment option, that it was all my fault! I made the mistake. Well that is factually incorrect.

Going forward, we all need to find alternatives to Amazon.com for online purchasing until they incorporate business practices that are NOT FRAUDULENT AND DECEPTIVE AND MISLEADING. Google : Alternative Sellers to Amazon.com and you will find many. In the meantime, I now have to deal with American Express and the Office of Andrew Cuomo, the hopefully soon to be new Gov of New York.

Thank you for reading this. Maude Geller, NYC

I've had this same problem myself...my points won't show up on Amazon. Both American Express and Amazon have given me the run-around, blaming each other.

Any ideas about how to resolve this? I thought AMEX had great customer service, that's why I got the card in the first place.

Amazon refund missing

I had a Job interview with Amazon.co.uk in Ireland. They paid my flight in advance but not my hotel room saying it will be refund later. Of course I had no doubts they will... and guess what? I've never been refunded. Recruitment team says it's not their problem and Payable Accounts Team says... first that "The IBAN is wrong" and then "We did it". No, they don't as I didn't get anything on my bank account. Now, it is not just about the money but the principle: they repeatedly evade my questions and show no commitment to the values they company should be proud of. Since then all my emails to Amazon employees I used to talk with about my issue are systematically bounced back (sound very strange, isn't it?).

Amazon's behavior is very unethical and I'm very surprised I never got my money back. Those are money I have the right to take back. 80% of the people working as employees represent the company's vision (a known concept for those involved in business consulting) and if its people act like that Amazon should review its internal communication.

My common sense is still not accepting that they could act like that. Unbelievable.

I had to work for them If they hired me... and what they were supposed to teach me? How to cheat and piss off people? In the beginning I was a little sad they didn't hire me, right now I think it is not a big loss for me: I paid just $200 to avoid their workplace.

I experienced the same problem with Amazon, I had a face to face interview and I paid in advance 300 euros for getting on the interview site. The recruiter promised me that every expense will be paid by her company, but it wasn'r true. When after one month I sent to them a mail every week for three months, they dumped me with silly answers and saying it's not their responsabilities.
Pay attention to Amazon, ask to recruiter to buy flight tickets in advance . Be foxy

Amazon shipping charges

I recently ordered some books from Amazon.com. When asked if I wanted my items to be shipped as they were available I selected yes, just in case something was backordered. However, on the website everything said it was in in stock. I received an invoice with TWO different shipping amounts. I contacted Amazon via chat and was informed that the order could not be canceled (I wanted to cancel all but one book) because it was already being processed to shipped. I asked about the prices and was informed that because I selected to have them shipped when available the price was not $42.00 but $107.00 for shipping. My invoice said that they were all shipping at the same time, so the charge should have only been $42.00. The email sent to me said it was shipping in three shipments. Yet I could not cancel the orders that were not set to be shipped. My online invoice said 1 shipment. I finally called Amazon and was informed that the shipping charge was incorrect because it was not being shipped in three shipments but one shipment. . . .The customer service agent was helpful and said he would refund my shipping charges. . now I just have to wait to see what happens. . . Be very careful when you select your shipping methods. If at all possible - do not select "ship separately".

Amazon terrible service

Having ordered a product (book and CD textbook) with their own product code, they sent me the wrong item. I ordered again and paid for it a second time and again they still sent the wrong product. I ordered and paid for the product one last time, and again they sent me the wrong product. The codes were correct, and my order was correct but apparently their warehouse could not get it straight. When I told them to send me the correct product they refused until I paid for a fourth item. I now have $400 in merchandise that I do not want, and I still do not have what I wanted.

When the product price changes before delivery they rather have me refuse the item on delivery and reorder the same item at a lower price than to reimburse the difference.

This is because they do not offer a post order price match guarantee, which is clearly posted on the help page.

In my opinion, Amazon, or any company for that matter should not be expected to make exceptions to policies that are clearly posted on the website.

About Amazon

Screenshot Amazon
Amazon is a multinational technology company that is based in Seattle, Washington. It is one of the largest online retailers in the world, offering a wide range of products and services to customers across the globe. The company was founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos, and it has since grown to become a household name, with a market capitalization of over $1 trillion.

Amazon's success can be attributed to its innovative business model, which has disrupted traditional retail markets. The company's online platform allows customers to browse and purchase products from a vast selection of categories, including electronics, books, clothing, and household items. Amazon also offers a range of services, such as Amazon Prime, which provides customers with free shipping, access to streaming services, and other benefits.

In addition to its retail operations, Amazon has also expanded into other areas of technology, such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud computing platform that provides businesses with a range of services, including storage, computing power, and analytics. AWS is one of the largest cloud computing providers in the world, with a market share of over 30%.

Amazon's success has not been without controversy, however. The company has faced criticism over its treatment of workers, with reports of poor working conditions and low wages. Amazon has also been accused of anti-competitive practices, with some critics arguing that the company's dominance in the retail market gives it an unfair advantage over smaller competitors.

Despite these challenges, Amazon continues to be a major player in the technology industry, with a strong focus on innovation and customer satisfaction. The company's commitment to providing high-quality products and services has helped it to maintain its position as one of the most valuable companies in the world.
