Unethical Business Billing Practices
Was not informed that my price locked in at 2.99/gal was no longer locked and was billed an 80% increase on 2/24/22. Have been promised resolution and re-billing for this fill with not a single call back from corporate. Local Area Mgr. said he never received a request to approve and circled me back to billing AFTER dozens of attempts! Such terrible practices that should be stopped as unethical!
Desired outcome: credit of $173.69, an apology, and a LOCKED documented rate that is reasonable such as the rate shown on line!
Residential propane
I canceled my service with AmeriGas last November (11/21) because they quoted me $3.99/gallon. When I called in (they've closed almost all of the local offices) to explain that my next-door neighbor was quoted $1.79 from FerrelGas, the representative - clearly overseas - said "your neighbors in West Virginia are paying $4.11 [she actually said four-point-one-one]", and then she said "Your neighbors in Kentucky are paying $4.09 [again, she said four-point-zero-nine]." I am not proud (or ashamed) to admit that I said "are you looking at a f-cking GLOBE? I'm talking about my next-door neighbor." This company has clearly lost all focus on local customer service, and don't care, even a lick, about what they are doing or charging. We had AmeriGas for years, and always dealt with a LOCAL office to deal with any issues - always to my satisfaction. Today, whatever number you call, you get an over-seas call center that is just going to deliver the company line - without exception. After scheduling a tank-pickup (less than 5% remaining) it took them SEVEN MONTHS to pick up their tank, and then they CHARED me $149.99 to pick up THEIR TANK. When I called to complain, I - again - got an over-seas representative who didn't care, not one bit. When I explained that the tank sat on my lawn for over HALF a YEAR, they didn't care. AmiriGas is a HORRIBLE company - don't buy anything from them, ever!
commercial propane
My company uses your propane to run our forklifts. I called at 7:00am on 7/19 and requested an urgent delivery as I was down to 1 tank. I was told I was on the delivery schedule. I called back later in the day and was again told I was scheduled to be filled. I came in on 7/20 and we were now completely empty. I called at 7:00am and was told that yes we were pushed to today. I called again at 10:00am and was told I would be filled in 2hrs. I called again at 1:00pm and was told the driver was in Spencer IN which is 70miles away. I'm extremely frustrated. I have had to close my warehouse for the day now and I don't understand how a customer that was skipped one day isn't put at the top of the schedule the next day. my cell umber is [protected] I would like a phone call to explain this issue.
Charged $70,092.99
We sold our house and moved, in Feb 2022. I received a $70,092.99 final bill soon after. I was told they were charging me a standard Service Dispatch Charge of $99.99; but, it was multiplied it by 701 RESIDENCES!
I have called numerous times and each time I've been told it will be corrected immediately. It is now July 2022 and I just received another Past Due Notice. The charge still shows $70,092.99
Do I have to take this to litigation to get it corrected?
Desired outcome: Correct the statement
Propane gas price gouging
I filled my tank and Amerigas charged easily 1.70 per gallon more, that was the first of the year. They are now 1.50 more than all the other propane dealers here. I am stuck with them as there are no tanks to be had to buy, THEY will NOT let me buy my tank and I can’t use another service because of this. This is not ok. They need to be charged with price gouging. I am going to make a formal complaint to the attorney general in Idaho and reach out on every social platform o can to encourage others to do the same. This needs to stop. They have been charged with price gouging in other states many times. Customer service is no existent, no local offices to walk into, they have routed all calls to a foreign country and so their overhead is way less.
Desired outcome: Lower the price be competitive for gosh sakes.
Tank Fill
San Pedro Center
95 Bishop Grady Lane / 2400 Dike Rd
Winter Park, FL 32792
We have been trying to have one of our tanks filled for a week. No help! Called several times to a centralized number. Yesterday they promise to put us on a prioirty list for 24 hour service. Still no gas. Called today, they dont even have us in the system for service. This is an urgent need as we have 25 guest rooms without hot water! Customer Service is horrible!
Desired outcome: Need Gas
Keep billing me for removal
I never signed a contract with Amerigas. They keep billing me for a tank removal. I have called 10 times and they will not remedy the situation. I would never use this company. They outsource their customer service and customer service will NEVER help you.
Acct # [protected], Last Notice Date is 7/6/22. Now they are even adding late fees. They don't even have a last name for me on the billing. Just Crazy, Irresponsible company.
Terrible company for service. Buyer BEWARE!
Desired outcome: Stop billing me.
Recent charge for tank rental?
I have never been charged to rent a tank from Amerigas and am not about to start now. I have had Amerigas as my supplier for over 15 years between houses that I have rented and the one I now own. I was never informed of this "surprise charge" and find it sleezy and completely unethical. When I bought my house, I had the existing company pick up their tank because I was always happy with Amerigas. This will make me regret my decision to remain with them as my supplier.
Desired outcome: I do not want to be charged for the tank rental or I will seek an alternate provider.
Customer service
Horrible customer service. My family had been a customer for more than 20 years and when we bought the property from the family we stayed with Amerigas, close to 20 years ago. I am so disgusted and disappointed with the service we received when we had a recent emergency need. We ran out of gas and called for an emergency delivery. We agreed to pay an extra $200 for delivery within 24 hours. We called back 24 hrs later asking where they were and were told we did not get delivery due to not paying the $200 up front (which they did not ask for). We were then told it was really $300 for a 24 hr delivery and $200 for 24-48 hrs. On hold multiple times for almost an hour. End result we cancelled our account and told them to take their tank. So clueless about customer service that they asked why we were cancelling. Not the way yo treat a long time customer when there have an emergency need. They also had the nerve to say we wouldn't be having this issue if we ordered when the tank was at 25%! No kidding, we obviously realize that and based on that were willing to pay the emergency delivery fee. Must be nice for that customer service associate to be perfect and never make a mistake. Don't buy from Amerigas! Go with a company with real CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Attempted to remove tank owned by me
Due to land logisitics, the tank was unable to be removed safely so I could switch propane providers. The tank was purchased from Amerigas on 5/18/22 and paid in full on the same date. On 6/17/22, Amergas employees arrived at my home (without warning) and planned to remove the tank I had just purchased. Their plan involved dragging the tank by winch through my drainfield. They did contact their office to verify it was now a customer owned tanked and left without incident. Today (6/27/22), I received an Invoice for $149.99 for tank removal; A tank that was not removed and is owned by me. I have been assured the invoice will be cancelled and they have updated their records to show the tank as customer owned. My complaint is that this should have never happened and I have spent a minimum of 8 hours on the phone with this company trying to resolved multiple issues. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with.
I tried to set up an appointment but it was impossible
We bought a house with an amerigas tank. We made an appointment to have the propane filled and turned on. They never showed up and I waited from 8am til 6pm in an empty house without heat all this time. Since I have a medical condition it aggravated it and my husband was irate and called and asked them to remove their tank. They took it upon themselves to fill this tank, mind you we just bought it and were not living there. I had no idea they filled it and had another company bring me a new tank, they actually showed up while I was waiting. Amerigas did send someone to pick up the tank and he got stuck and destroyed my yard. I had to filled it with alot of dirt. Now they keep sending me bills for propane I never was able to use and you can't call them because there call center is in another country and they don't know how to fix it. There left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. You can't run a business from India in the US.
Desired outcome: I want the bills reversed
Unauthorized charges for tank rental
This letter is to convey repeated problems with Amerigas Propane and their tactics that appear to border on harassments. As a result of the horrible customer service we have received since the purchase of Kallam Gas about 4-5 years ago, we decided to leave Amerigas and transition to Dan River Propane. We had been with Kallam Propane/Amerigas for approximately 16 years. Because of our consumption of propane, we were never charged for underground tank rental or the installation of it. Our principle contact for Amerigas had always been Gray Johnson. He now works for Dan River Propane and we set up our new account through him.
In late November 24, 2021, Dan River Propane issued to Amerigas a Notice of Assumption (see attached). On 10/25/2001 we contacted Amerigas and spoke to "Joey" with customer service that the tank would be placed on "will call" (Ref #6134417). In January, 2022, we received a bill from Amerigas with an invoice date of 9/25/21 for tank service Labor and Dispatch fee of $238.94 that never happened. The most recent billing has now increased $399.43 and is now called "tank rental" and pick-up fees. On May 4th we wrote to Amerigas and disputed the charge. We informed Amerigas that we have never had a rental charge in the past and that we were not notified that such a charge would suddenly apply. They never made any arrangements to pick up the tank following receipt of the Notice of Assumption. On 5/27/2022 we again wrote to Amerigas to ask them to pick up their tank. Amerigas has since picked up the tank and have charged us $150 for picking it up after never being charged for rental or installation. There was never any notice that this charge would be applied.
Although we have communicated with Amerigas of this issue, they have continued to pursue us for an underground tank rental (and subsequent pick-up) dating prior to the Notice of Assumption that they knew was out of line and would serve only to create additional ill-will. We never received any contact from Amerigas that additional fees would be applied after 16 years of service. Since that time, we have been contacted by collection agencies over this issue that Amerigas refused to address professionally. It is evident that this corporation has deemed that retribution and retaliation for ending business relationships is acceptable. Such charges that are clearly in retaliation to previous customers should be viewed as illegal. We are seeking your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Laurence Plott

Desired outcome: Retract undue charges.
i have been fighting with amerigas since feb 2022 about being charged for 2 deliveries i never recieved now they are adding a debit memo fee of 150.00 to what they say i owe and everytime i call i get a different person and the runaround about how someone will call me back but they never do
I also am having issues with AmeriGas. We have had AmeriGas for 22 plus’s years and was never charged rent. Summer of 2021 we received a bill for a little over $200 for tank rental. Unfortunately my wife paid the $200 before I had the chance to call in and question it.
Around the beginning of the new year 2022, I called in to have my tank filled and I also question the $200 tank rental. The gentleman that I talked to told me that they began charging tank rental if you did not buy at least 400 gallons of propane per year, I was at 396 gallons, 4 gallon short of the necessary amount to not have to pay rental. The gentleman said I should’ve called and they would’ve been able to waive the rental since it was so close but it was too late now. I managed to meet the delivery driver when he filled my tank. I asked him to please make sure that I get 400 gallons, even if it means blowing a few gallons off in the air. he even made a few comments as to how awful AmeriGas has become and how shocking it is that they all of a sudden start charging rent on tanks. As it so happens the tank took 410+ gallons, so I felt I was good and I was not going to be charged rental this year. Summer comes around and once again I get a bill of over $200 for tank rental. This time I call In and get somebody from another country that I could barely understand. I explain everything and she tells me that they now charge rent if you buy less than 1000 gallons per year. I argue with her that nobody has ever contacted us to let anybody know the fact that they are going to start charging rent. I am now in the process of having a natural gas line installed to the house so I can get rid of AmeriGas. I still have not paid the rent for this year and I’m gonna find out what happens when they have to remove my above ground tank. I’m sure they’re gonna try to charge me for that as well.
I had my 400 gallon underground propane tank installed by Amerigas in July of 2014. I was told that after I've rented the tank for 10 years that the I would own the tank. Now I am being told that the tank is for sale for $1,300, which is $300 more than if I had paid for it outright in 2014. I'm unable to find the original contract and the rent on the tank goes up and up with every passing year. To make matters worse, I was over sold on the equipment. I have only topped the tank off 2 times over the past 8 years, and that was when the tank hit 60%.
Amerigas company
No Sense Of Urgency With This Company! theay are horrible. would never recommend this company to any .the so called customer service is a big fat joke. basically they just take up space. oh and the so called resolution team, has no resolution. tha is also a big fat joke. my tank was on empty and they have no sense of urgency to refill it even though they calim they have 24 hour service. big fat lie. and I am on automatic refill ( means nothing) spent over 4 hours on the phone with multiple people and still no service. representatives do not know what they re talking about and they never put service orders in and are clueless to what is going on and how to resolve the matter. no training what so ever.
Desired outcome: TOTAL REFUND FOR MY TIME AND THE SERVICE THAT SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED TO ME BUT I AM SURE THIS COMPANY WILL CHARGE ME
AmeriGas
We were customers for over 20 years-paying a yearly tank rental. The last 5 years of rental, the gauge on the tank had been broken-which resulted in running out of propane at random times. We notified them countless times & requested it to be fixed-they refused. We ran out of propane again on Dec 12, 2021when it was cold & rainy, and everyone was ill-they wanted to charge me emergency delivery fees and after hour fees to deliver. Called a new company-who was WAY cheaper and brought new tank and propane out immediately. Had to call Amerigas 3 times to pick up their tank and now I'm receiving bills and late fees for the pickup fee after I was assured that these fees would be waved due to the broken tank (that I was paying for) and the situation. Called again about the bills that I'm still getting and was told that it was a valid charge. When I asked to speak to a manager, the woman Annahi told me she was the only one I could speak to.
Desired outcome: Waved pickup fee and any late fees as promised due to broken gauge on the tank that the company had been repeatedly notified of.
Billed repeatedly for a tank that I asked to be removed before tank rental was due.
On December 17th 2021I received a bill from Amerigas for the yearly tank rental fee. I was unhappy with America's because the tank pressure meter was faulty, indicating 45 % propane in the tank when in actuality it was empty. They came and replaced the meter, only to have the same issue again. I called Amerigas and requested tank removal. I was informed that the tank would have to sit until April because of the winter season and propane deliveries being the priority. I received another bill in January for tank rental with a late fee added. I called America's again, spoke to a supervisor, and the bill and late fee were waived. On this call I informed America's that I am moving, get their tank off the property. I repeated this process in February. In March the process repeated with the addition of informing Amerigas that I was moved and their tank is sitting there unsupervised. I repeated the same process in April. Yesterday I repeated the same process again, and my debt and late fee was waived again, then today,
May 20th, I received a call from their collection agency that my past due bill has been turned over for collection.
Desired outcome: I want this unowed bill cleared. I want a formal apology. I want this removed from my credit report. I want paid for the harassment, the stress, and the time I have used trying to correct this problem.
Delivery/Maintenance
Ran out of gas due to non-delivery. Charged for a delivery that wasnt needed. Repairman replaced faulty regulator with a different faulty regulator. My furnace company couldnt get the furnace to turn on due to the incompetence and irresponsibility of AmeriGas. Now Im being charged for a full tank of gas I cant use.
Also, replacing faulty parts with used parts is unsafe and illegal.
Meantime, I get the runaround from Customer Service. Emergency situations take days to be addressed.
Desired outcome: Be reimbursed for unused gas.

Subject: AmeriGas Account [protected]
Dear Sir/Madam:
The purpose of this letter is to accomplish what 6 different phone calls have not, which is:
1) Stop all the emails and correspondance from Amerigas about the referenced account.
2) Close the account and zero out the balance.
3) Receive a letter from Amerigas stating the about 2 items were accomplished.
The address and physical location of the propane tank is at 144 South 40 Rd, Woodland Park CO. I've attached a copy of the last invoice which shows payment and the rejection of the rental fee ( attachment 1).
1) The home in Colorado sold and closed on November 12, 2021.
2) The last invoice was paid in full.
3) Tank rental was refused since I moved to New Mexico in Nov 2021, tank rental fees were for 2022.
4) I live in New Mexico and do not use propane.

Refund for returned propane
On 3/22/22, AmeriGas picked up my 500 gallon propane tank with 30% (100 gallons) of propane as verified by the employee picking up the tank. Closed my account. Within a day, I received a bill from AmeriGas for the pickup, which I immediately paid. On 4/12/22, I called to check the status of my refund (100 gallons @ $4.35/gal=$425). I was told the refund was in billing in process. I called again on 4/21/22 to check on the status of the refund and was told that it was in fact NOT in billing and needed to be "processed." This was almost a month after the tank was picked up. Jazmine processed the refund for me on 4/21/22 and told me I needed to check back in 3-5 days to see if it was posted to my account, and since the account was closed, request a refund check. I called again on 5/2/22 and was told by Mavis that the refund was in the PA office for issuance and I'd receive a check in 5-7 days. I'd also receive a call from the supervisor within 24 hours verifying the issuance of the check. I got no call and called AmeriGas again on 5/3/22 to be told that my refund was NOT in PA but STILL IN BILLING, almost 6 weeks later. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor but once Joan in the Resolution Department answered, the call was disconnected. Called back numerous times attempting to speak to a supervisor and was left on hold for long periods of time or the line went silent. Finally spoke to Aaron in the Resolution Department who attempted to contact someone in billing to check the status, but the department was closed.
Desired outcome: Receive my refund check in the amount of $435.
This complaint was submitted on May 3, 2022, and today is May 9, 2022, and I've received no information on the progress of the complaint and no resolution.
Wouldn't deliver our propane
They wouldn't deliver our propane so we decided to get another co. Called 4-12-22 to cancel because they locked me out of our account and charged almost per gal. Wouldn't deliver. I told them come and get tank it is empty. They owe us a credit of 184.00 they had 30 days to pick up tank or they could be fined I'm not giving another dime to amerigas I want...

I was billed at 4.759/gallon on 1/18/22. I called to see if Amerigas would match a competitors rate of 3.30/gallon. I was told by May on 2/3/22 they would adjust the rate to 3.30/gallon. I paid my invoice on the new rate. I received another invoice on 3/22/22 this time it included a late fee and the rate was not adjusted. I called spoke with Hart. Hart was suppose to escalate the billing issue. I asked for a supervisor to call me back to confirm the late fee and rate would be adjusted. No call received. Another invoice was received 4/21/22. They added another late fee, no adjustment in the rate. I called and spoke with Joy (supervisor's assistant). Still no movement on late fees or rate. I cancelled my service. I've been a customer for 10 years. Customer service is non existent. 3 phone calls, approximately 20 minutes each call. 3 months time no resolution.
Desired outcome: Remove the late fees and adjust the rate to what was promised on 2/3/22.
