property damage
Wish I could give ZERO stars. Once again I arrive home to find my propane tank is EMPTY. I'm on automatic refill, but AGAIN, they fail to keep up. This has happened several times. No explanation each time. Last time they charged me a special fee, because I needed a refill after hours. Not exactly my fault that THEY forgot to refill my tank. Took months to get that refunded.
VERY unreliable service.
I pics of the damage done by their truck. I kept thinking someone would be back to fix it, since the driver obviously knew he drove off the pavement and damaged the adjacent ground, but NOPE
Desired outcome: repair the damage
Propane tank assigned to another without my authorization, with 50% of my propane in it.
We had a purchase agreement on our house in February. The buyer agreed to pay for the remaining propane in our tank since we just filled it in February but I called Amerigas and was told that Amerigas would come out to our house and remove the tank refunding any unused propane to us, before we actually moved out, as we had 30 days to remain in our home after the sale which took place on April 6th, 2022. Making May 5th our last day in the house. On April 6th I received an email which said, Final Notice and that Amerigas was refunding my credit on my account. Confused, I called and spoke to a man who told me that another person had called and switched the account into her name. I was like, excuse me? How can another person take over my account without my knowledge? He said she called and is the new owner. She's not the new owner yet! We haven't signed the papers. Besides we paid for the propane in the tank and we have 55 percent of a 500 gallon tank which he said the value was $605.00. I was livid that Amerigas would transfer our account to another without our knowledge. Now if they remove the tank, then they will credit the new owner my, paid for, propane. The sales department and customer service dropped the ball big time! Even Amerigas' website states 2 things can happen on the sale of the home and one was what I was told about removal and refund. When we called back none of our information worked with our account number and no one would speak to us. I called our realtor who called the buyer and she said she'd take care of it. I finally was able to speak to a Jeff who told me not to worry. He was putting a flag on the account and that when we got ready to vacate the house to call Amerigas and they'd prorate the amount in the tank and charge the new owner the refund money. This evening I was given the run around and told Amerigas does not refund tanks in a sale, that has to be done in closing. It was not done in closing due to multiple conversations with Amerigas.
Desired outcome: I want someone to come here and bring a refund check for the amount of propane in our tank like we were told and the buyer was told the same thing. I also want to know how another person could just call and take over my account.
New residential service
I was given a written quote of $1200 for a new 500 gallon tank install in Strawberry Plains Tennessee on April 12, 2022 plus the gas charges. They called me the day before and told me they only had a 250 gallon tank available and that the charge would be slightly less because we were digging the hole and lines ourselves. I just received a credit card charge of $4300 for the same service. Nobody online or on the phone can seem to figure out why or get me my money refunded... This is unbelievable.
Desired outcome: I would like the over charges refunded and credited to my credit card
Propane
I just seen another complaint on Facebook! So many people getting cheated &
Myself after 3 years with no service with you people, you are sending bill after bill to me long after I closed my account with you! I looked up reviews & couldn’t believe all of the problems everyone is having with you. I canceled propane & went all electric. I called you to pick up your tank & one man came out & moved it to the middle of my yard & left. It was such an eye Sore. I had about 30 percent in the tank & after the man moved it, it was Leaking and I had a neighbor disconnect it & it only had 20 percent left. Finally after calling for 3 years someone finally came & took it & said I would get a refund for what was left. But never got it, instead I got a new bill for over $300. For 2021 & 2022 LONG after I went to electric. You should look at your reviews! I live in a resort with 300 lots & all are on propane, I am sending out reviews to all to NOT deal with you!
Service and Billing
We have two underground tanks, a 250 gal., and a 750 gal.
We have an 80KW standby generator that we have not used since 2007.
In 2016, I requested the tank that supplied fuel to our 80KW generator to be removed.
Amerigas sent two different technicians to handle the request. The first technician was unable to complete the task. The second technician explained to me that Amerigas preferred to leave the tank in the ground but would cap the tank and will not charge rent for it anymore. So, I agreed.
On Feb. 27, 2022, the pilot on our water heater went off. I ordered more LP gas online. On Mar 5, 2022, a delivery was made and filled up the tank to 80% capacity per Amerigas policy. Our water heater pilot still would not lite. I had the water heater replaced. Still no hot water. A Rapid Pro Services technician checked the incoming gas supply line, but no gas was coming from the tank. He stated that the underground tank was empty.
I contacted Amerigas about the problem. On Mar 28, 2022, Amerigas sent a technician who upon investigation stated that the wrong tank was capped off and placed several gallons of LP gas and then lited the pilot. After a month we had hot water again. I ordered more LP Gas which was delivered on April 5, 2022. The delivery man noticed the gas gauge was unreadable and scheduled a replacement for April 12, 2022, but nobody showed up. On April 5, 2022, I spoke with Brandi at Amerigas and explained to her what had happened. She stated that "let me figure out what madness they have done." She then issued a credit for the gas that was delivered on Mar 5, 2022 and placed in the wrong tank. She then scheduled the removal of 400 gallons of gas from the 500 gal underground tank and remove the tank as well for April 19, 2022. Although I had received test messages for April 12 and 19, 2022 schedules, but again, nobody showed up.
I request that Amerigas pump out the 400 gallons of LP gas in the 500 gal. tank, then remove it, and then issue a credit for the 400 gallons of gas. I also demand that Amerigas pay for the new water heater that I should not have had to replace a water heater that was working just fine.
Meter out of service for years.
for the past few years i have been estimated which is not legal in california.
my december 2021 bill was over $400.00 which it has never been that high
before.
I had one of your service technician come out to replace my meter, and he
stated that my meter was out dated. he then replaced my meter and charged
me for replacing it.
i have a report from weights & measures that my meter did not past the low-
flame test.
i my requesting funds back from the months that i was estimated and the month
december 2021 in addition to the charge of replacing my meter/.
Customer Service
I have been trying for over 3 months to close my account. I've been charged for things I never should have been charged...numerous phone calls have not resolved the issues. When thy issue credit for one bogus charge, they add another one. The local store will not accept walk in customers. I drove 40 miles trying to resolve the problem in person. AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. I would rate them even lower if possible.
Poorest service ever!!
Locag gas company got bought out by amarigas and it has been a [censored]show ever since, was on a auto fill but they let me go to empty 4 timesin a row. They dont understand that people use only heat source and when they are out in freezing weather it is a issue. On top of that they are over a dollar a gal more than the other local propane companies. Price gouging at it finest! Stay away from them I hope they go out of business
Desired outcome: they will close their doors!!

Propane delivery
I have automatic delivery for my Delaware home. On 2/2/22 water pipes burst in my bathroom and ruined my floors, created mold, and messed up the wall paneling.
The propane ran out. the last delivery was in June 2021. Again, I am on Automatic delivery.
Your negligence caused this. There are many details including hours and hours of horrible phone calls hang ups, not listening, "there is no supervisor" and no shows for propane refills
Desired outcome: coverage for all the damage done to my house
Initial service claims
When I was signing up with Amerigas the girl Tricia that took my application over the phone told me my initial tank fill up was free. She said all I would pay for is the service fee for the tank install and delivery.
When I received my first bill I was charged for the full propane tank. I called to explain my problem and got a women named Herlinda. At first she tried to tell me that’s not a promotion. I said yes maybe not but this is what you tell people when they sign up. She said I’m sorry there’s nothing I can do. She offered me a $100 discount but I said no you can come get your tank because I was lied to. Herlinda didn’t respond. I waited then Herlinda would come on the line and say hello hello I can’t hear you. Then she goes I’m sorry please call back.
I called back and got a man named Ken. I asked for a manager or supervisor and Ken did the same thing as Herlinda, saying sorry I can’t here you please call back.
I called and asked for initial sign up and was put through to a lady named Misty who listened to my complaint and said another Misty her boss will be contacting me.
I haven’t received any call back from the or reconciling of the issue. I believe they tell all new customers your initial tank fill up is free but then they don’t follow through. YOU WILL BE CHARGED!
Desired outcome: Wave the tank fill up fee
Service
Requested gas line hook up to my pool heater. AmeriGas service showed up and said I would have to have estimate before work could be done. Estimate was emailed for $547. I called and discussed with customer service to understand if it was full estimate and included parts and digging. I approved estimate and scheduled service. AmeriGas arrived March 17, 2022 and installed. They then sent me an invoice for $1275 for the service. I called and asked why the amount was over estimate. They indicated that that was cost and declined to acknowledge pre-estimate. I feel as if I have been over charged and at minimum should have been told the job was going to exceed the estimate by over $700. They should have communicated a job change or change order costs and not just sent a bill. Help me resolve this problem.
Desired outcome: Revised invoice
Over pricing in a low income
I am a senior citizen for low income at Monaco Arms Apts Jacksonville, Fl. My February bill Triple the amount of my history of usage. Bill went from 60.00 to 215.00 and only explanation they can me is it was cold day in February. I have electric heater for my bedrooms. no need to warm the entire apartment. As soon as the above ground Tanks was install everybody in the complex bill sky rocket. There no one in my apartment from 7am to 7pm. So why would my bill triple with electric heater #[protected] Acct# I sent pics of the meter to the email that I was told to send it to.
Desired outcome: I like for my bill to be review and make it right and corrected .The history tell my usage .
They do not deliver when they say they will!
I called on March 18 and placed and order for 150 gallons of propane to be delivered. I was told it would take 7 business days. On March 25, there were no signs of anyone coming. I called and was told by the automated system that delivery was scheduled for the end of that business day. No one came. I called on the 26th, asking where my propane was and was told, again, that it would be delivered by 8pm. No one came. I called 2 times on the 27th and once on the 28th, each time getting a different person (all with terrible, TERRIBLE, broken English who don't give a rat's butt what kind of situation you're in. They refused to let me speak with a manager each time, saying "The manager cannot tell you anything different than I can." I demanded, this morning, not only that my propane be delivered TODAY (as my tank is now at 7% and shrinking), but that I speak with a manager. The rep tells me that if she were to actually place my order on a same day delivery (! 11 days after I ordered?), it would delay my delivery further. I demanded to speak with a manager, the rep gave me the run around, deep sighed, and said "Fine." Then she comes back on the line and tells me her manager will call me back within 20 minutes. Guess what. No call. No delivery. This is not the first time. Last year, they waited until we were completely out of propane, I had to call their emergency delivery number, the driver (maintenance only, with only a 20 gallon tank in his truck) came out, told me how much the company had gone downhill, how much he hated working for Amerigas and apologized to me for the inconvenience. They then billed me $400 for an "emergency fill." They do not care about anyone's situation. They do not care that they take your money the SECOND you request delivery, but do not deliver until you run out and then charge you more. They are the absolute WORST company I've ever dealt with, and I am DONE with them. I would rather pay twice as much as I do with Amerigas just to never have to deal with their unprofessionalism and complete lack of care for their customers. DO NOT USE AMERIGAS!
Desired outcome: I want my fuel NOW, along with a refund of money I've already paid!
Purchase of 155 gallons of propane gas
I changed to Amerigas Propane on February 11, 2022. I purchased 155 gallons of propane fuel and paid $332.40, at that time the representative the representative informed me that the cost was $2.09 per gallon and that a safety check would be required which would be no charge to me. numerous calls to inquire when the propane will be delivered with no resolution. On February 16, 2022 I called Amerigas again and was told that a representative was at my location and found problems with the tank which was there. I was home all day on February 16, 2022 and no Amerigas came to my residence, when I informed them of no Amerigas representative was at my home. A representative was sent on February 18th with another tank and 30 percent of fuel which I was told that the 30 percent was like 999.99 gallons almost 100 gallons and that they would only deliver 55 gallons when delivery of the rest of fuel is being delivered. This should have be included in the $332.40 I paid in February. I received a bill with a $106.48 dollar credit. I never got a full understanding of how I was getting a credit from something I had already paid
for. Now I today I was told by the representative in billing that I didn't pay for the 30 percent of fuel I received when the tank was delivered. All which was included in the $332.40 that was delivered on March 10th almost a month later.
Desired outcome: I want Amerigas to stop attempting to double bill me for the 30 percent fuel which was delivered when the tank was delivered
gas line installation
Hello,
I would like to file a complaint and open an investigation into the actions of your service department. My mother is 82 years old and is an AmeriGas customer. In late February she requested to have gas lines run to her house so she could install a gas stove. A gentleman from AmeriGas came to her home and looked at everything and determined that they could proceed with her request. She was told that the service would be provided to her on March 7, 2022. On March 6, she replaced her electric stove with a gas stove in preparation of the March 7 install date. No one showed up on March 7 and no one contacted her. She called to inquire why no one showed up and was told that her appt was rescheduled to March 21, which meant that she would be without a stove for two weeks. She was told she would receive an email at least three days prior to her appointment. She did not receive an email so she called again on March 18 to ensure she was still on the list for service on March 21st. She was then told her appt was once again being rescheduled to April 8, which means that she is going to be without a stove for over a month. She complained, asked to speak to a manager and was then assured the installation would happen on March 21st as promised.
So here we are on March 21 and once again no one from AmeriGas showed up to complete the installation, nor did anyone contact her. My mother called and was again told it would be April 8th before she could get her appointment. This is beyond frustrating and at this point we have no faith that your company will keep the next appt date as we have been lied to three times. How dare you treat an elderly lady (or any customer) with such disrespect. This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life!
My mother lives with me (in my basement) and her account number is [protected]. The address is 593 Brooks Lane, Strasburg VA 22657. My name is Julie Spaid and I have been an AmeriGas customer for over 25 years. I am so appalled with how my mother has been treated and the lack of urgency displayed in this situation that I am seriously considering moving to another propane company in the area. Today, I spoke to Gretchen who promised that she would connect with the service team and see how quickly she can get someone to our home to complete the installation. However, she also said that it might be 24 hours before I hear back.
I respectfully request that you look into this situation and provide us with a reasonable solution for this issue.
Sincerely,
Julie Spaid

Desired outcome: immediate service installation
Propane delivery
Ordered propane as per the company standard percentage of the tank you should X amount of days. I get an email and text that it will be delivered between 3/8/22-3/14/22. Ok. 3/9 I have a voicemail from a number I didn’t recognize. It was the delivery driver. I called him back because his message didn’t make sense. He had written on his service order to call prior to delivery and get a key, but there was no key at their yard. I told him that there isn’t any key and I’ve never been called before a delivery and confirmed my address with him. I texted my husband who was home and he said that AmeriGas was there and left. No one ever got out of the truck and we didn’t get propane. So I called and was told that in the driver notes he stated the ground was too soft for a delivery. I’ve never even heard of anything like this before. We’ve received deliveries in snow and rain before. Furthermore, it’s not like he’s driving the truck up my lawn. They park on the street and walk the hose up! It also helps if you actually get out of the truck. Had my husband not been home, I would have never have known they were out. He never would have witnessed the delivery driver never actually getting out of his truck. I didn’t receive any information from AmeriGas that they attempted a delivery. This company by far is the worst. Worst customer service, delivery drivers and business practice. They will not let buy my tank that’s buried and came with the house when we bought it. Last winter [protected] we would wait 2 weeks for a delivery. I’d like to have heat. I didn’t get my propane which is bought and paid for and I have no idea when I’ll receive it?! I’ve asked to be placed by out for delivery, I’ve asked for a manager or supervisor to contact me. Nothing! Just do the right thing and do the job correct the first time. There is zero reason for this! It’s March in Pennsylvania.
Desired outcome: I’d like my propane delivered ASAP. I’d like to purchase my tank so I do not continue to have this issue every single winter.
Over billing
I ordered propane from Amerigas on 1/27 and paid $486.94 with my debit card, so it was automatically taken out of my bank account then. I got an overdue notice on 3/7/22 that I owed $149.90 plus $36.00 for late fee. I called them and they said that I only paid $337.04 and owed $185.90. It says right on my acct that I paid the whole amount, but yet they argued that I owe the $149.90 because I had a delivery on 2/04, well that is when they delivered my order from 1/27/22. It takes them a week or more to deliver your order, by the time they got here with my delivery order I was down to 5%. I hope they figure out their mistake! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that $337.04 and $149.90 = $486.94. I think after this is settled I will look for another Propane company!
Desired outcome: I hope this can be resolved, because I don't owe them any money!
This just happened to me. The only reason I found out was the Tank fee came up. The extra overbill wasn't even indicated on the tank invoice (which would be a standard if you owed a company money). It's just fraud and they know it.
Incorrect charge to my account
Amerigas charged my old account $583.01 for service at an old house that I used to live in. They didn’t even provide the service they charged me for. When I call customer service they tell me they’ll remove the charges but never do. Now they’re sending me to collections. When I ask to speak with a supervisor, they transfer me to the same recorded message that sounds like somebody answering the phone and not being able to hear me and then they hang up! This has happened 4 times and it’s always the same exact message.
Desired outcome: Remove the erroneous charges on my account
Buy out lease of underground propane tank - no response
I have been calling Amerigas Customer Service every other day for 34 days now. I want to buy out the lease on my 500-gallon underground tank. This was the service installed by the builder on our new home built in 2016. The tank was here and we had to use Amerigas. The Customer Service group transfers me (every time) to Sales. I speak to Sales and they ask...
