Bj's marketing policies
I shop at both BJ's & Costco in my area of Livingston, NJ. Each company has, in some cases, a better selection available. and thats why I shop at both stores.
What really frustrates me with BJ's is the following:
1. Your advertised mailers, with the latest " specials ", is misleading. Unlike Costco, your cover shows ( your most recent mailing ) the items on sale from 3/14/19 - 4/10/19; however, the individual items shows some ending at 4/10/19, and others items sale date ends on 4/3/19. PERSONALLY, I THING YOU SHOULD ADOPT THE SAME POLICY AS COSTO, ONE DATE - START & FINISH - FOR ALL ITEMS.
2. Your flyer also limits almost all the items on sale to one only. Costco however, very rarely limits you to only 1 items ( almost never ) and you can purchase about 3 to 5 of each item on sale.
3. Costco's saving flyers list all the items on sale, but you don't have to cut out the coupons and present to the cashier at check out. Their computer system automatically
will credit you when you cash out.
I THINK IT WOULD BE VERY BENEFICIAL FOR BJ'S MARKETING DEPARTMENT TO CONSIDER UPGRADING YOU ADVERTISING STRATEGY, AND MATCH YOUR LARGEST COMPETITOR.
Would appreciate a response o the above suggestions
Thank you

bj's coupon saving book
I just got the current savings book in the mail (12/26/18 - 1/23/19) Pages and pages of products, with savings listed, but NO PRICES. How do I know if that $2.00 or 7.00 discount means anything, without knowing the original price? Look at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Kohl's, who offer incredible discounts, but have the original prices inflated. So the whole booklet is meaningless. there are 82 pages of non-information which inspires me to throw the whole thing in the garbage.
BJs administration is lying and cheating with their HP ink cartridges coupon. The one which expires April 24 has always been honored in the past. It distinctly says $22 off for 2 HP ink cartridges. The cashiers in Stratford and Derby (Ansonia?) now tell you that you have to buy 2 boxes (4 cartridges) to get the $22 off, but the coupon distinctly say "2 cartridges".
Either there is someone new in administration who cannot read or BJs is running out of money and are attempting to balance their books.
Some employees have said there are also problems with other coupons.
Correct it now and I will come and buy my 2 cartridges and get $22 off or BJs will become known as a liar store.
cancellation of order
I had placed an order (order number [protected] ) for a Sealy Response Premium West Avenue Cushion Firm Queen Size Mattress with White Glove Delivery & Haul Away on 11/11/18. Last week I received a call about setting up a delivery. I scheduled a delivery for today. I am a physician and took 1/2 day off of work to await the delivery. Unfortunately the delivery was not made at the scheduled time and I had to go back to work. Delivery time was 12noon to 2pm. I call after 1pm to confirm it was still coming (the office was closed for lunch until 1pm). The woman was a bit rude and insisted it would be here. I left for work 2:30 with nothing. I then called BJ.com to make them aware of the cancellation of the order, who informed me that she could not cancel it. I am definitely not paying for something I have not received. Please make sure this order is cancelled and any charge to my card should be credited.
wellsley farms purified water
Hello I just purchased four cases of the BJs Wellesley farms purified water and we opened two of the waters in the packet and boats smells like the water is tainted. The water is heavy and I do not want to have to lift it back to the Bee Gees location but my family needs water. Feel free to come pick it up and please replace. Something is wrong with this water. The bottle stamp says blm28 111218 (it's hard to read). Best used by Jim 20 0452
Contact me via phone [protected] or email [protected]@gmail.com
I purchased Wellsley Farms purified water (5.28 gal) - 3 large bottles. Serial # BJ#290828 -[protected]. The first 2 bottles we used were fine. I just put in the 3rd bottle. The water smells and tastes moldy. I buy bottled water from BJ's for both the office and home. This is the first time I have a bottle like this. We will not drink it but I cannot take it back to the store as it is open. There definitely is something wrong with it. Wouldn't complain but I would hate for someone else to get bad water and drink it. Both my husband and I were sick after just drinking a little of it. Not saying this is BJ's fault but I have to wonder where this water picked up the moldy taste and smell. Hope no one else got a bad bottle.
Workers needed bad BJ's treated me horrible, didn't receive any payment for three weeks, didn't put me on the schedule, with out informing me asked the question to my manager Thomas bolten conshohocken store, nothing was done! Unbelievable! Thanks dude don't work there! Seriously Thomasgertenitch
Really serious haven't heard anything back? Ha!ha! BJ's sucks bad management period, note and point Thomas bolten conshohocken store!
wf 24 oz. italian bread, price $3.49
I have buying the above mentioned bread at the Middleburg Hts., Ohio store for a very long time. When I was there recently, I found that it has been replaced with another Italian Bread and the 24 oz. Italian Bread will no longer be available. The store advised that they have no control over what is delivered and suggested I file a complaint.
I understand there have been many people upset over this. Is there any possibility of bringing back the WF 24 oz. Italian Bread. I did not care for the replacement bread at all.
I would appreciate hearing from you as soon as possible. Thank you.

two complaints: organic greens and small bathroom cups
1. I shop the Quincy BJ's store. I have always bought the organic salads and the organic super greens. Now that they are the store brand they don't seems to get all the water out of the container and the greens rot because of the extra water. Salads and greens do not even make it to the sell by date.
2. Have bought the small bathroom cups for years. Now that they are the store brand, they stick together causing me to waste several cups at a time and they are way too big for the dispensers that we have used for years.
Sadly, I will stop buying the store brand item because of their inferiority to the name brand items.
dried pitted dates
I had purchased Wellesley Farms dried pitted Dates from the BJ's store at Jersey City . When we opened it, it smelled like totally fermented, similar to rum or liquor and had a very squishy texture.. We decided not to give to our Little one, but thought we could still have it as it would be just not fully dried. But Upon consuming it caused severe gastric troubles for us as well. The product seems to have fully fermented .
The product was marked for expiry in 2020 and quality issues in dates which are given to kids is really sad. We had also paid $10 for the same. Having paid and not been able to use it is equally disappointing. We normally buy soo much of dry fruits from BJs, this experience has really deterred us . looking forward to some kind of resolution!
men's white crew socks
Bought Champion brand crew socks at BJ's years ago, and they were great as far as comfort and wear. Then you stocked a thinner BJ's brand, next yet a thinner BJ's brand, and now a third BJ's brand that is no thicker that most formal dress socks. This will be my last purchase of socks at BJ's until you revert to selling a quality crew sock..

tire department
I booked an appointment to get new tires on my truck. I ordered the tires online and They were sent to the store, BJs in south Attleboro, MA. I set up my appointment online and got a call one hour before my appointment was scheduled saying that the person that could install/change the tires called out. I specifically took the day off of work because I knew I would need time to have the tires done on my car. They advised that I could reschedule for later in the day but could not do that because I had a friends wake I had to attend. I scheduled an appointment for the following Monday the 29th and I got a call from them to verify the tires that I had purchased. Originally they could not find my tires, I had to give the representative the make and model of the tires and he had a difficult time finding them. They ended up being in the back unmarked, this is why he had a hard time finding them. I ended up going in on Monday, the 29th and I was there for over two hours because there was one person working. The only employee on shift was there trying to install my tires as well as helping out other customers that were coming in. There was one person working running the entire show. This is completely unacceptable, this is not a proper way to run a successful business. This is not fair to me as a member to have to wait for something that should not have taken that long because the representative was helping out other members in between. I have already had such an awful experience here and I ended up going in on Monday and I was there for over two hours because there was one person working there that was trying to install my tires as well as helping out other customers they wer There was one person working running the entire show. This is completely unacceptable and not a way to run a business. The day after being installed, Tuesday the 30th, The tire is flat so now I have to spend more time going back to BJs to get this situation settled. I specifically took a day out of work to get the tires originally put on and the fact that it had to be rescheduled because the only person who could do it called out is intolerable. It is crazy that there is only one person that works in that department that can install tires on a car. It is not fair to me to have to spend more time going back because one of the tires is flat. This is not fair and it is not right. I don't know what kind of business you are running there but it is not one that I will be visiting any longer. I expect some sort of compensation for this. Not only did I spend almost $700 buying 4 tires and having them installled, I have spent my time which is just as valuable rearranging my schedule to try and work around your employees. This is not something that I am taking lightly. I would like a call back from someone and to be compensated for the time and energy I have put into this entire situation. I have not had the new tires on for 24 hours and already a flat, this is unacceptable. Please make this terrible situation right!
fuel station
My wife and I were at Bjs fuel at around 6:00PM on October 18, 2018 when the gas attendant, was the rudest person I've delt with in a while. She was an older African American woman and I did not get her name. All I needed was to slide my card because it said see attendant, as the balance was under the $100 Bjs requires. I had to wait about 5 minutes for her to come to the kiosk, and she was very rude. She seemed to be more preoccupied with socializing with her other 2 co workers standing outside the fuel center and shouted at me in front of the other customers. Because of this I did not get to take advantage of my 60 cents off as a founding member, and had to go to Walmart instead with the same card. I have prepaid with a card at Bjs gas before and am very disappointed with the customer service people are already receiving.
The location is roanoke Va as the inside is not open yet
customer service
Hi my name is Veronica Canales On Saturday October 13, 2018. I went to sign up for a membership and this was my first time signing up everything was good until I went to the register 4 and the lady was really rude towards us she had a nasty attitude telling us not to put the water on top of the register let me remind you this is my first time coming here and no one told us we can't put the water on there. And after that I had two coupons and I told her and she told me ‘' oh you have to cut them out ‘' I told her do you have some Scissors ‘' she said ‘' no''. The lady was really rude towards me and my husband. Have you don't have any scissors in a retail store and where people use coupons a lot.
self checkout
I visited 2 separate BJ'S whole sale clubs in my area and was racially profiled in 2 separate occasions, 1st on 10/4/18 I visited the club located on Sheridan drive in Amherst NY, my daughter and I were followed through the very crowded store that evening I found that to be quite alarming considering how crowded it was and how is it possible to even shoplift bulk items, then we get to self-check out which I love because its convenient we had 2 carts and as we are scanning items and placing them on the conveyor belt as instructed, our assistance light kept coming on each time one store rep would come by swipe her card and-see that everything was OK with our order and how we were scanning items she would leave but then another rep would be right behind her that's fine because that's their jobs, however my daughter and I noticed 3 other club mbrs lights were flashing and no one came to aid or assist them or asked what happen this happen again at another bjs store located on union rd on 10/13/18 the over zealous store assistant came scanning items without our permission causing me to double scan items and when i mentioned it to her she became rude and irate, this is my first time carrying a membership with bj's ( better prices) I have always been a Sam's club member they have exceptional customer service I'm seriously considering not renewing my membership next year due to these experiences they left a very bad taste in my mouth as a consumer and human being .
original seltzer water
My wife and I have been buying this water for quite a while, and no complaints.
Lately we have noticed that 2 or 3 bottles in each case have been flat, with no bubbles.
We enjoy this product and thought you should know about this problem.
My message is too short, so I am making it longer so it will be noticed.
I really don't think the length of the message should matter, only the content.
Richard and Lu Gendron
Sparkling water smells terrible. I have got several wraps and it all smells the same.
Recently purchased the three pack of Wellesley farms bacon from our local BJS Wholesale Club. The price was around $15.00. The package of bacon in the middle of the 3 pack was 90% or more total fat. SUPRISE CONSUMER THIS IS WHAT YOU GET !
complaint about tire center in north bergen, nj 07047
First time I went to inquire and purchase 4 tires for my car. The tire changing bays were all empty with the exception of one, there was a car was "Very Casually" being worked on for tires. I was ready to purchase & pay for 4 tires. The counter person mentioned that the department was booked till a week later. It was a very early Saturday when this took place, so it made no sense that there was no available staff to purchase and install tires. I would also like to add that there was a 2nd occasion of this same instance on Saturday October 13, 2018 @ 2pm. My question is, Why is your customer service counter person turning away business when the location was clearly "Not Busy"? I believe there are 4 bays in that location. In conclusion, You lost business for 2 cars for the purchase of tires, needles to say that I purchased my tires elsewhere & they were more than glad to take my money and business without turning me away.
rude disrespectful staff
Salem nh i went shoping today and i had multiple coupons PJs and manufacturing As well as I had bought multiple of the same item so I should've been able to use it coupon per each item that I purchased and I should've been able to use PJs and manufacturing coupon on each item I purchased but be a manage as well as I had bought multiple of the same item so I should've been able to use it coupon per each item that I purchased and I should've been abuse PJs and manufacturing coupon on each item I purchase but the supervisor came over and voided over $12 in my coupons telling me I was only allowed to use either a manufacturing or BJ's coupon and I couldn't use more than one of their coupons even if I was buying multiple items I'm a single mom raising two kids and Bailey can make a living I come to BJ's to save money I cut coupons to save money and this woman came over and deliberately avoided over $12 in my coupons and refuse to give me my coupons back. In 14 years that I have been A BJ's member I have never been so insulted and so angry at the service in one of your stores I will never again go to Salem New Hampshire BJ's and I don't appreciate losing over $12 in coupons just because the lady didn't want me to use manufacturing and BJ's coupons. And two of those coupons I had to write in to the manufacturer to get. Extremely angry customer!
very aggressive pressuring by management
My boyfriend and I went to BJ's in Cary, NC to get a few items on 10/04/2018. I was having a good shopping experience and typically do enjoy shopping at BJ's. However, when we went to check out, the cashier asked us if we were "gold" members or something, and I replied that we were not. He then summoned this manager over and gave him my membership card.
This manager (a black man, I don't remember his name), proceeded to look up how much money we typically spend at BJs, and then explained this "gold" membership thing to us. At this point, there were no problems yet.
I was trying to think whether this membership would be beneficial to me or not, based on how much we usually spend. Meanwhile, the manager is trying very hard to distract me by throwing out random numbers (ex. You'd be making $95 back if you had this deal now! No, you're leaving $75 on the table!). And I was like "$95 since when? Since last July? No, I know we haven't spent that much. Do you mean since we've been members?" He had no answer, he just kept going on about how stupid we are to refuse.
Finally, I said no, we don't want to become "Gold" members. Rather than letting it go, this manager became even more aggressive. He asked why in the world we wouldn't want to, and seemed to become very annoyed. He also still had my membership card, wouldn't give it back, and the cashier would not finish ringing us up, so we were stuck there. I felt very anxious and trapped, and actually a little afraid.
I looked back to see if the people behind us were getting annoyed, and the manager promptly said "There isn't ANYONE behind you..." which weirdly I interpreted in a threatening way...like no one could help us and we were trapped? I said no thank you twice more before I actually had to grab my membership card out of his hand and swipe my credit card so we could pay for our stuff and leave.
I still get a very uncomfortable feeling from this. I don't think customers should be treated in such an aggressive manner. At this point, I have such a bad memory of that experience that I am afraid to go back to BJs, and am seriously considering not renewing my BJs membership. I would really like an apology of some sort, and acknowledgement that this is not an appropriate way to treat someone who has been a loyal BJs customer since 2012.

found rat hair in mixed nut jar
Bought well set farm mixed nut jar opened and was eating found big ball of distrusting hair in it.
Returned to the store not even a so sorry how can we help.
Poor customer service and really you should make the customer happy. After all we are bringing this to your attention, so you can correct the situation.
But really I did not experience any type of apologetic demeanor when I notified and returned my item.
Thanks for the delicious rat hair.
tire center
The bjs tire center in Bowie Maryland never has any staff, I am here on Sunday and there is only one person that I had to go to the warehouse to find he set off my car alarm and did not know how to turn it off I am nervous to have him check my tires so I called your tire center in Capital heights Maryland 3 times and no one answered this is terrible service in Prince Georges County Maryland
People, I cannot stress this strongly enough. DO NOT BUY TIRES AT BJs. I swear this is 100% true and still I have correspondence from BJs employees to verify it. BJs buys 8th rate garbage tires from a shady distributor called Simple Tires LLC and Simple Tires floods BJS supply chain with old tires. Tires degrade even when not being used and rubber has a finite shelf life. The lifespan of a tire is 4-5 years now even if the tire has never seen the road. It doesn't matter about the mileage rating or the mileage you've done, if the tire has sat in a climate controlled warehouse for 48 months it's about as far along in its lifespan as one that's been on your car for 48 months, it's almost dead and has very little time left before it becomes useless. And these are the tires BJs is allowing Simple Tires LLC to send them. In fact, those are the only tires that Simple Tires LLC stocks and that's why BJs uses them.
When you log onto the BJs website, place an order through your BJs membership, pay BJs, set up an appointment with a BJs Tire Center to have tires installed by a BJs employee it's probably Simple Tires LLC that ships the tires from their warehouse to the BJs Tire Center and they send out old, almost dead garbage. And BJs doesn't care. This is all verified, direct from BJs employees. I had an appointment to have tires installed today. Placed the order through BJs, paid BJS, got confirmation from BJs, went to BJs and the tires that were waiting to be put on my car were almost four years old. They had been manufactured in January 2015 and had, at most, 12-15 months of life left before the rubber started to crack from age. And it could have been a lot less than that. But because these tires has never been installed and were aging in a warehouse rather than in a junkyard they were technically "NEW" according to Simple Tires LLC and to BJs Tire Center. I of course refused to have them installed and contacted BJs about what seems to be a pretty significant problem, one that is dangerous to BJs customers and borderline illegal to pass off 4 year old product as "new" when BJs knows the lifespan of tires is 5 years. Bjs response floored me. I had hoped that maybe BJs wasn't aware of the problem, but they are. The CSR knew and the guy at the tire center knew. I was told point blank to shut up and go away, that it's not their problem and that even if I order from them, pay them and have the tires installed at their stores by their employees its Simple Tires LLC's fault and BJs refuses to do anything to rectify it or help customers who get screwed by their tires having a reduced lifespan. They're knowingly allowing their customers to buy old, worn out, dangerous tires that are advertised as "New". Simple Tires LLC IS NOT an authorized factory distributor of most of the brands they carry and the manufacturers disavow any relationship with them or their actions. Simple Tires LLS is essentially a tire clearing house that buys the garbage that other more ethical businesses won't sell. When an authorized distributor of a name brand tire gets hung with old merchandise that they don't want to sell to THEIR OWN customers, Simple Tire LLC buys it for pennies on the dollar and then resells it to BJs who sell it at FULL PRICE to their "members". That's the truly infuriating part of this sleazy relationship. The tires that Tire Rack won't sell to their customers because they're too old, the tires that Town Fair Tire won't sell to their customers because they're too old are the tires that BJs buys and resells to their MEMBERS. You are paying to belong to BJs and you get treated worse than Tire Rack and Town Fair tires treat people who walk in off the street. BJs is plenty big enough and has enough clout and buying power to source tires from anywhere. They can set up deals directly with the manufacturer. They can source from legit national distributors or resellers like Tire Rack. But they don't. They intentionally source the tires from the sleaziest re-seller they can find because those are the ones they can buy cheapest and resell to you at the best margin.
This relationship is dangerous and is designed to hide the business practices of both BJs and SimpleTire LLC from the buyer. SimpleTire claims that what they're doing is okay because they "disclose" it on their site. That much at least is true, it's on their site 22 clicks deep if you know where to look. But the buyer who goes through BJs is not given that information. They order from BJs, pay BJs and deal entirely with BJs employees at BJs locations. BJs does not tell people they're dealing with Simple Tire LLC, BJs does not tell people they're getting 3 or 4 year old tires with a short shelf life and the customer has no way to know if they're not familiar with DOT codes. BJs knows what's happening and hides the very existence of Simple Tires LLC age disclaimer which is well hidden on Simple Tire LLC and almost impossible to find even if you know it's there. This is an ongoing case of fraud on a very large scale. BJs Tire Center customers are only getting a small portion of the tire life they're paying for and both BJs and Simple Tire LLC conspire to hide that information from them. To make matters worse, even when caught out, both BJs and Simple Tire LLC throw up a joint smoke screen to keep the customer spinning around without recourse. I have correspondence from both companies trying to resolve this issue. Simple Tire flatly refuses to get involved because BJs buys the tires from them and knows what they're getting and therefore, according to some rather sketchy ethical justifications, it's BJs fault for not stopping them from sending out old tires. BJs flatly refuses to get involved and insisted that I contact Simple Tire LLC directly because they shipped the tires and it's their fault, not BJs fault. That can go on forever unless somebody else gets involved. How about you? If you got involved maybe a little public pressure might force them to stop tag-teaming the consumer to rob them. BJs needs to disclose the source of its tires, BJs needs to warn consumers that they're accepting tires that are far older than what is acceptable by industry standards and that those tires would have a vastly shorter lifespan than a new one. And maybe someone should audit the tires that have already gone out the door at Bjs Tire Centers to see how many customers have already been fooled into thinking they were getting new tires and instead got tires that are worth far less than they paid. And while you're at it, look into how this marriage took place in the first place. Simple Tire LLC is known to do stuff like this and it's hard to believe that BJs could fail on such an epic scale to properly vet a business partner. Follow the money.
If you are thinking about buying tires from BJs, DON'T. If you have already bought tires from BJs, check them or have them checked by a legit tire dealer or installer. Every passenger car tire sold in the US has what is called a D.O.T. code on the sidewall. Most people don't know it's there and BJs wants to keep it that way. But that code is very important to the consumer, it's the date of manufacture. It's a four digit code that is week and year that the tire was made and you should check it on EVERY TIRE that you buy. If it says 2217 that means the tire was made during the 22nd week of 2017, 0218 means that it was made 2nd week of 2018. You should check that code on every tire you buy or plan to buy, it's as important as the sell-by date on milk or ground beef. If you've bought tires at BJs recently, check it now and see what you REALLY paid for. You might have paid full price for a tire you thought was new and you might have gotten three to four year old junk that has 1/10th of the lifespan you think you bought. If you got hosed, go back and raise hell. BJs ethics or lack of ethics on this matter means the only way they're going to stop is if their members stop them. DON'T PAY FOR OLD TIRES. DEMAND BETTER. You're a "member" at BJs and that should mean something to you because it doesn't seem to mean much to them.
Don't trust BJs and heck, don't even trust me. I ask you to not take what I've told you on faith. Research it yourself. Look up Simple Tire LLC and the string of complaints against them. Consult with a legit tire seller/installer and ask them to explain DOT codes to you, check yours and explain why they don't sell old tires. And ask them what they think of anyone in their business who sells three and four year old tires as "new". Tell them that's what BJs does and they'll tell you exactly what I'm telling you, word for word. DO NOT BUY TIRES AT BJs TIRE CENTERS. EVER!
refunds
I returned an Acer laptop, with receipt and everything in tact at my local club and I got treated extremely badly by customer service and the Manager Ayeisha.
First the worker Efrain kept me waiting for more than 20 minutes bc he said he needed to find the number on the laptop that corresponded with # on receipt even though the # scanned on receipt matched the # on the box the laptop came in. He called the manager and a while later paged her. She finally showed up, did not even apologize to me for the long wait, 30 minutes, totally dismissed me and told Efrain to "just give her the refund ". She had no regard for how I was feeling as if she's was doing something wrong with hen all I wanted was a simple refund. Efrain put the refund back on my card, or so I thought.
An hour later and 30 miles later, I discovered he charged me $486 on my card instead of refunding me that amount. I returned to the club and went straight to the manager Ayeisha. She looked at my receipt and for the first time in this whole sorry, maddening ordeal she offers a limp apology and said she would have Connie in customer services correct the mistake. (She also offered me a $5 gift card which was later changed to $20 by Connie.)
By now I am at my wits end and she expects me to go back on the long line. I asked her if she would do the refund and she said she was not trained on registers. Now as I write this there is almost $1, 000.00 deducted from my bank account by your club. My bank told me it may take 4-7 days before it's back in my account.
I have been a customer of BJs for 13 years and spent almost $8000 last year at your club and this game s how are get treated. I hope ant to know you hat you are going to do to rectify this. In addition, how can you possibly employ a manager who has zero customer care skills and doesn't even know how to use a register?
More importantly, I have bills to pay and automatic deductions That are taken from my checking account which is now depleted by almost $1, 000 thanks to an incompetent and condescending manager. Then to add to my horrible experience I called and left message for the general manager Jorge Cedona and he n very even bothers to return my call. I called back and was told he wouldn't be in tomorrow so try Saturday.
I am hoping for get a timely response from you and disciplinary actions are taken with your employees.
Sincerely
Mary Delaney.
