worst retail experience ever
SAVE YOURSELF TIME & MONEY! DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY! I order a $1800 rug from Cymax. My credit card was charged the same day and I was promised 3 day delivery. The rug arrived 7 days later and was the wrong color. I spent the next week calling and being placed in a queue for a customer services representative - often for hours at a time, being forced to listen to looped messages about their customer service guarantees and how with Cymax - the customer is in control. Call back requests were not honored, emails were not answered. When I finally got through to a live person, Ii was put back on endless hold for a supervisor and then they disconnected the call. Finally after 9 days and endless calls / emails they contacted the manufacturer to notify them of the shipping mistake...and then and only then - more than a month after accepting the original order, did they notify me that the product is out of stock and back-orderd for months! I finally cancelled my order, but am still waiting for my credit card to be refunded. I have been traumatized by this experience...do not make the same mistake. Order elsewhere

bait and switch
cymax.com did a "bait and switch", I ordered and paid by credit card a specific all metal trestle which was 9ft x 9ft x 9ft, with a cupola top, it was to support plants and was to fit in a 9ft space, about a month later, when I was not home, a shipper dropped off in my driveway a pallet with a box containing a 4ft by 4ft rectangular, light weight pergola with a canvass top-designed to sit on a deck. My phone calls were ignored, after sending photos of what they shipped to me and the photo of what was ordered and paid for, they said the "manufacturer" says they shipped the correct product to you. After no less than 24 emails they now say to move the product out of the driveway, pay to ship it back and a "re-stock"fee and we will see if we can give you a "store credit" if there is anything left after the expenses.
I wish I had read your complaint, and those of others who have had bad experiences with Cymax. I ordered a laptop caddy on April 10. Received order confirmation that estimated shipping t0 be between April 13 to April 15. and delivery between April 29 to May 6. April 15 came, and no e-mail indicating shipment had taken place. My last two phone calls seeking an update in status of my order have not been returned. I had selected Option #9 on Cymax's phone-menu to request a call-back rather than wait on the line...which I had done a couple of times for long periods before giving up.

Save yourself some sanity and do not order from this store. We made a large order on Jan. 1/11 for baby furniture. We made the order because the website (Lusso Baby - one of Cymax Stores websites they hide behind) stated that the items were "in stock". It is now almost three months later and we still are waiting for them. I am due to have a baby in a few weeks. Sent numerous emails, no response from them. If you call their customer service, you will get someone from India. The person I spoke to, couldn't understand english and ended up hanging up on me while I was in a middle of a sentence. This was after waiting on hold for him for almost an hour. He was asking me questions that I needed the answers to...not sure why Cymax stores emphasizes on customer service when it is cleary not there. I wish I had looked up the reviews before ordering. My problem is surely not a unique one. This store is not BBB accredited. They have over 300 complaints just in the last few months with the BBB. Should've done my research. This is adding stress to me that I do not need, especially during this time. Please save your time and money, and order from a reputable store.

shipping of damaged goods
Ordered a corner fireplace and damage was discovered upon unpacking, Cymax refuses to replace it as they say it was not annotated on the delivery form. A friend accepted it and I unpacked it upon arrving home from work just a few hours later. The entire back of the fireplace was damaged/broken and cracked. Called Cymax immmediately to report it. Then sent email as instructed with photographs. All this to n0 avail, as they place the blame back to me that the gigantic package was not unpacked in front of the delivery driver and annotated. I have never heard of this in my entire life. I also contacted the manufacturer and all they have done is refer it back to Cymax. So, for the past 6 weeks the fireplace is still in the box in my living room. I used bill me later and have filed a disupte with them as well. This is the most frustrating experinec I have ever been through as a consumer. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Canada and contacted my local televion station that handles complaints

I ordered a $2, 100 couch on December 13, 2010. They took my money, showed the order was in progress (4-6 weeks) but at the end of that time when I contacted them, they ignored me and sent an e-mail that the couch had been shipped. I waited and nothing happened. I tried to contact them and again was ignored. After 8 weeks I got a hold of someone on the phone and they related that the order had never been placed. I was told a manager would call and they never did. It's been 11 weeks that they have had my money and "my account" info says still that the couch has been shipped.
How many months can they keep your money before it becomes grand theft?

The dresser itself is a beautiful piece of furniture, but the company, who deliver it, Cymax, is a nightmare! It took them 2 month to deliver the item, all that time we did not receive any notifications of estimate time of delivery, or any other emails explaining the delay, we tried to call them, but they were very mean and unprofessional to us, we tried to cancel the order, they frightened us with $1000 cancelation fee! So we had to wait until they would deliver it…when they finally did, the item came damaged, and now it’s been a second week as we are trying to get them take the damaged piece back. They are not answering any of our emails, when we call them they always very mean, we asked to talk to the supervisor, he was even more rude then any of his workers, it’s not worth it!
I ordered some sconces and Cymax.com said that they would ship in 2-3 business days. It's over 10 days and I got nothing, not even a tracking number (and they already charged me for the purchase). It's a scam. I am requesting a cancellation now. Save your money and your time and stay away for this store.

Here's the deal-- I was trying to buy a double stroller from them on Friday evening. I had entered all my shipping and billing info, but when I clicked the "submit order" button, a notice appeared, saying "an error has occurred, please try again". I re-entered my info and this time the order went through. I received a confirmation email shortly after saying my order for the stroller is being processed. Well, today, Fed Ex delivered TWO strollers. I told the delivery guy that I had only ordered one and could I refuse the other. He said that I'd have to contact the company and request a return shipping label. So I called Cymax and told them about the glitch in their ordering process and they basically told me that it was my fault. She said that their records show that I ordered two strollers... one at 6:14 and one at 6:20. I told her that the first order didn't go through and that I never received a second confirmation email. She just said that I should have canceled the order if I didn't want two. I kept explaining that I didn't know that both orders went through until I received both strollers today. Well, she said I can return the second one, but not only do I have to pay for shipping, but they'll also charge me for the shipping to my house (even though it was free shipping) AND charge me a 30% restocking fee! Give me a break.

Cymax sucks to the max! Ordered a $450 item on 12/31, rec'd confirmation email same day. Item was listed as in stock; given delivery estimates of about a week's time. A week passes and I check order status. Order is listed as in process still but items are now listed as discontinued. During the time that has passed between my order and my check on the status, I received NO notification, email, phone, writing or otherwise. Sent an email to customer service requesting an update, no response. Requested order cancellation but I believe I will have to dispute charge with my credit card company as SuckstotheMax does not believe in communicating with customers. Stay far, far away. Reporting to BBB and other consumer agencies. This company is a fraud!

I wish I would have done an Internet search on Cymax before I placed my order. I too ordered an item on January 8th that was "in stock" and was given a delivery date of January 11-13, 2011. The next day I checked my order status and the delivery date was changed to February 8th. On January 10th I checked the status and the delivery date was changed to February 10th. On January 11th I checked the status and the delivery date was changed to February 11th and indicated the item was on "backorder". In just 3 days the delivery date changed 3 times and went from "in stock" to "back order". I immediately contacted customer service and was hung up on twice. I called back and spoke to someone in sale and explained that I was hung up on twice. He took my name and number and had someone from customer service call me back, which they did. I proceeded to cancel my order, only to receive an e-mail a few minutes later indicating that my request needed to be "reviewed" and I would receive an e-mail in 1-2 days with their decision. Their decision on whether or not it could be cancelled depends on whether or not the item was shipped or being prepared to ship. For my own humor I checked the status of my order, and wouldn't you know it, the delivery date was changed to February 12th. I've been in touch with my credit card company. The charge has yet to gone through - it's only been given a temporary authorization so until the charge is finalized I can't dispute the charge. I do all my shopping on the internet and this is the first time I've ever had a problem. Lesson learned. Next time I will do an Internet search on a company I'm not familiar with. STAY AWAY FROM CYMAX! WHAT A SCAM!

They are so busy that they cannot take calls. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

They will promise to fix it over and over again and do not follow through.
You and your family would be better off buying your furniture from Wall Mart.
The Master bedroom set we purchased from Cymax is falling apart.
The glue is failing, the paint/stain is peeling and what we thought was going to be a wood bedroom set is all plastic.
The only thing I wished I did before spending $10, 000 with these guys was to check them out first.
If I had there would have been a chance they would have gotten me as another victim to add to their seriously growing list of customers.
My advice, you would be better off with a sleeping bag and a few milk crates to sit on or find another dealer.

On March 11 2016, we placed an order of table set with Cymax store on Amazon for $350. It was delivered around March 20 2016.
In late April one of the bolts came off from the chair. We assembled it back. A few days after the bolt came off again. We assembled it back again. This kept occurring for a couple of weeks until we realized that the bolt and socket are faulty.
We contacted the seller Cymax requesting a refund for the defective product. On June 6 2016, Cymax rejected our refund request citing the ’30 days policy for refund’. We had no choice but to accept their offer of a replacement.
On July 28 2016, Cymax emailed us to confirm that a replacement is to be with us between 29 Jul 2016 and 04 Aug 2016.
On August 7 2016, we emailed Cymax to enquire the whereabouts of our replacement. Cymax replied that the replacement cannot be processed until September 12th due to back order.
We complained to Cymax for the poor service we received. Their reply was simply ‘we were not aware of the backorder’
Now six months later, the product is falling into pieces with other bolts came off. We have received neither the quality of the product nor the service. We kept chasing Cymax for update but all we received is repetitive automated emails.
As a customer, we feel we have been treated like a fool.
Never order furniture online! Especially from Cymax. We got two items as a matching set, a love seat and a chair. The loveseat was broken/falling apart. They want to charge us half the cost of the chair to "return" it even though we bought them as a set. These items were delivered a month ago and they made us hold onto them and they just told us to "dispose of the loveseat as we see fit". Um, I have to drag it down two flights of stairs? They have been taking up our living room while we wait to buy furniture that actually WORKS! are you kidding? This company is awful, terrible at returning emails and calls and just awful overall.
They had wrong address, as soon as order went through I noticed they had my old address. So I was given the opportunity to put in that change with the order, so I emailed them giving my new address telling them I had moved. I even called and spoke with a rep the next day to make sure they got my message and I confirmed that I moved and gave the rep the correct mailing address. One week had passed I got a call from the person that now lives in my old house that he got a package for me. I called cymax and told them what had happended and etc. They said they would send ups out to get it and resend to me at their expense. However I just found out on 11/20/08 no one came out to pick it up. So I called cymax again expressing my fustration with them and ect. Told them I do not want the product and to please refund me. The person I spoke with said she would research it and get back to me. She called me back in about 20 min and said she talked with her supervisor and he will refund me the money. I asked about picking up the package she said supervisor will call me, which he has not called and furthermore the money that I used to pay for the product was in a bank account that I had closed over a week ago. It was paid by a debit card so they got my money and they are not reponding to my requests at all.
Order an Oak Woold TV Stand -when received was dark cherry. Seller or Manfacturer do not seem to care.

I ordered something almost 6-7 weeks ago.. (I've lost track how long) I spent over $700 for a table and it never showed up. I canceled about 10 days ago and NOW they are trying to deliver it... Well it is too late now, my husband has ALREADY been deployed and I am about to find me an attorney and sue them for a lot more than just the table. I am 5 months pregnant so I won't even be able to pick up the marble table, let alone put it together!

Lets be honest here: Before I buy anything online I always check with the BBB of course all the stuff looks nice and pretty in the pictures, but seriously how do we know what its made of, where it comes from and what the shipping and return policy is? Alot of the places that sell these products are rinky dinky places that will take your money and run and give you bad stuff. Cymax is the worst of them all. Ive had this place thoroughly checked out before I even purchased anything from them. Both the attorney general and the BBB werent thrilled with them. Also, home direct 3rd party company need I say more about this. All 3rd parties should not exist in my opinion and should be banned. I work 3 jobs and order things offline myself because I dont have time to go shopping. I always make it a habit to check the complaints filed on the BBB site and if there are a ton I dont buy from that place. Ive been ripped off as well and started to check. Good luck online shoppers

I just received my safe today, I ordered through Cymax Stores, on Oct. 6th, 2010. The safe arrived Oct. 14th, 2010, I signed for it, I placed it where I wanted it very gently and unpackaged it. I read the directions carefully and used the "over-ride" key given to open the safe and press the electronic reset button, AND THE DOOR FELL COMPLETELY OFF! This product is very cheaply made, and I would not recommend it for anyone looking for a quality safe. I researched for 24 hours on what type of safe to get and this safe had Absolutely no REVIEWS! DO NOT BUY! get a sentry safe or another top quality brand!

Orderd from Cymax before. Can say all the neg revierwws online are 100% true. Their stuff is not like you see in the pictures or descriptions. Customer service is a joke and they have the poorest return policy around.
Never again will I spend andother cent on their products because if it comes damaged or not as described, they either charge a huge restocking cfee - for their damaged return, plus make you pay for your own return shipping which is expensive because the furnioture is very heavy. If they promise replacemnt parts - expect 5 - 6 weeks minimum to arrive and they claim its because of the manufacturer, not theirf fault... SO USE ANOTHER MANUFACTURER if all the problems are their fault!

I ordered chair that was to be delivered before July 16.By July 30 I emailed them and they kept saying that delivery attempts had been made and I'd refused the chair. TOTALLY untrue. I'd never heard from them.I canceled the order at that time. Then, 45 days after order, they showed up on my doorstep to deliver. I did refuse the chair since I'd canceled the order. They said that made it a delivery and so they would bill as a return and charged freight both ways and a restocking fee for a chair they never delivered.

Decent prices; polite employees. Even though we asked them to hold shipment and release it on a certain date, they dropped the ball and only released the shipment when I called. I guess it still would not be released if I hadn't called. Also, and more important, they don't tell you that shipments that originate in Canada might take 2-3 weeks. I've been waiting about 10 days for shipment to Chicago and it will be about another week according to UPS. When you call CYMAX they are all so nice - great training - but all you get is an "I'm sorry" Nothing more. So, be warned.

I was on a Sears website and purchased a Table from Sears.com. After my credit card had been credited, Sears informed me that I had bought the table from Cymax. The table arrived timely, but the marbletopwas mared.
I sent both cymax and Sears a picture of the problem. Cymax would not acknowledge receipt of the picture. Sears promised to repay me for the table and the cost of returning it. Sears would not place that in writing either. Cymax states on it's web site that they do not collect salestax on items shipped in the United States. Do they not have a resale number. Sears denies that I bought the item from them and that no Sears warranties apply, but they charged me salestax and took my money. Can you collect sales tax on an item you did not sell? And can you sale an item retail without having a retail permit?

BEWARE! BEWARE! BAD COMPANY! BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU’RE GOING TO ORDER FROM THIS CANADIAN COMPANY! I ordered a furniture item based upon the picture on their website. We all know that different PC monitors show colors differently. The item was displayed with a nice Golden/ Yellow wood grain. No information was available for samples so based on the picture I placed the order. You can guess what came; dark brown furniture; no Golden/ Yellow color. I contacted Cymax’s customer service. They explained that the item comes to me directly from the manufacturer. I told them if the color was slightly off there wouldn’t be a problem, but the color was way off. They had me take pictures and send them to them. They sent the pictures to the manufacturer. The manufacturer said “colors will most likely not match posted display pictures”, and that “free samples are available before a purchase is made, and many of our distributors post a notice next to the photo that free samples are available”. Cymax does NOT post this notice. The manufacturer leaves it up to Cymax to make a proper posting. Cymax leaves it up to the manufacturer to determine if a full refund (including shipping) is in order. The manufacturer says that they sent the correct ordered product. Cymax says that they (Cymax) will refund me less a re-stocking fee, their outgoing shipping cost, and I would have to pay for the return shipping. These people are nuts! - Between CYMAX lack of awareness, and the Manufacturers poor color match, we the consumers should not be penalized
shipping nightmare
Ordered night stand in late May 2010. Order was cancelled by Cymax after credit card was charged. Eventually shipped product. Product arrived and appeared as though it had been rolled to MN from where ever it came from. Product damage. Cymax ordered replacement, we think, claimed it was delivered in early July, but no delivery notice and was supposedly delivered wile were on vacation. Got credit card company involved. Cymax investigated. Cymax called and agreed to refund our money, cancel relationship. Refunded money promptly. Cymax sent email confirming refund and cancellation. Two weeks later we received an email indicating that a replacement item had been ordered and shipping information would be sent shortly. Responded to email and copied person who had sent cancellation confirmation. Received three emails confirming that order was cancelled and apologizing for mistake. Received email two hours later indicating that another replacement had been ordered. We're done with them. We're not sure if we'll get 0, 1, or 2 night stands in the next few weeks. And we will fight any charges to our credit card from this company.

I will never again shop with Cymax.
1. this is Canadian company, owned by UAE citizens and which targets primary US consumers, but fails to warn you about "foreign trasaction fee"
2. the payment method page will offer "No Payments for 6 month" option. The e-mailed receipt will say "No Interest for 6 month"
3. It seems that every other orer placed with Cymax is backordered or delayed. The product page will say "In Stock" and "Estiamted delievery 2 weeks' but 2-3 days after the order is placed the shopper gets "backordered" e-mals.
My furniture is scheduled for shipment ... in two month (!)

I had cancelled my order with them on the same day the order was placed as I found it cheaper elsewhere. They sent it anyway thtough UPS and left it on my front door without my acceptance. They agreed to deduct the difference and said that confirmation would be emailed. I never received the confirmation, no reply on phone calls or emailed complaints. I have requested a pick-up and refund with absolutely no responses. My credit card has been charged. I cannot believe the shadiness of this company.

Ditto, except mine was shipped 12 days after I canceled it per their instructions. My item was out-of-stock, so I ordered from a different company after I canceled with Cymax. It ended up costing me about 75% of my $205 order just to send back something they shipped in error. Fully read their response to other customers that starts "Dear Shopper, We regret that your shopping experience with Cymax did not meet your expectations. Cymax is a drop-ship company...", and is found on other review sites, so you know what type of company you're dealing with.
backorder nightmare
Backorder nightmare, was not allowed you to cancel. Zero customer service, by far the worst communication...I've experienced better business practices from third world countries! Ripped me off to the tune of $419 and I have nothing to show for it accept a nightmare of an experience.
Gross miscalculation twice on their part for a shipping date. I even received an e-mail from a supervisor in customer service admitting their mistake and apologizing for the inconvenience, however, my money was not going to be refunded.
I was advised by the customer service supervisor to accept the item anyway and sell it on Craigslist!
I fully intend to file a claim in court because they clearly believe that the consumer is at the mercy of their folly. I understand mistakes happen, however, it is their lack of integrity in resolving the issue that I find unacceptable.

Had the exact same experience, and the shorted refund for restocking when they seem to think waiting 4 months for a product is somehow acceptable. My bank finally got involved and it took another month to get the refund. Not worth the time and energy to deal with. Do NOT do business with this firm!

Same thing with me. Finally got a shorted refund notice but that is NOT acceptable if they never sent me the item. Bad business all the way around. Definitely will never do business with them again! Good luck!
