hiring practices at your new london ct location on 48 ocean ave
Im going to get right to the point, I have shopped at your family dollar store on ocean ave for over 15 years and have had no issues with the store I just decided not to shop there any more for the following reason about 5 or 6 years ago I believe its been that long a new manager took over the store which happens to be hispanic I have no issue with that this is a very diverse area the reason for me mentioning her ethnicity brings me too the complaint I have, your store has always been racial diverse at this location it is located in a racially diverse area, your managers hiring practices i'm questioning since she has been manager she has not hired any EuropeansAfricanAmericansChinese nothing but hispanics whenever the hiring sign is posted I know for a fact the young people as well as some older people have applied and this is over the time frame she has been managing the store she will not hire she will only give Hispanics a job if you walk in your store day and night that's all that is employeed at this location they are rude will not even greet you if your not Hispanic will speak inSpanish when you have English speaking customers not because they cant its because they are rude.It got too a point where a few people would apply that had a lot of experience in retail and cashiering not because they really wanted the job but too try to prove what we were thinking about her hiring practices wrong well to me she proved us right I need someone too explain to me how over 15 years you would have all ethnic backgrounds working together in this store and since she has become manager nobody other then Hispanic.I think a representative from your company should stop in un announced and go over the records to see who she has had working for her since she has been at this store, send in a secret shopper see how they are on the floor working and talking on cell phones or they don't greet you. As for me i'm done at this story and i will advise people in my community too spend their money else where they have dollar generals and family dollar maybe you own them too but ocean ave family dollar needs too be examined closely.

On 10/12/18, I went to family dollar on peters creek pwy in winston salem, nc to purchase a cd player. When I got home, I realized I did not need it and I never opened the box! On 10/14/18, I went to return it to the family dollar near my house on mlk jr drive. The cashier tried to refund me but the computer told her I had to take it to the store I bought it from. Does not make sense they are all the same store but any way. I drove all the way across town to the peters creek pwy location and the cashier said he could not refund me but I can exchange it for anything in the store (items or item). I told him there was nothing on the receipt explaining the return policy, nothing displayed and not communicated. He then pointed to the very small print glued sticker that was all wrinkled and hard to read that was on the countertop and said it is right there. I said can't nobody read that and also you need to tell people to read it and before that, get an update nicer looking policy post. I still did not see where it said electronics are not returnable. The line was very long and people were waiting so I asked for the manager so that he could ring up the other people. The manager has a very nasty attitude and argued with me about the policy. I told her paid with my mastercard, not cash, the box not opened, nothing on receipt, store walls, door and anything explaining the policy. I told then to give me store credit (which I try not to shop there) and she said she couldn't. She said has to swap it out for another item just like it! What? I told her what the cashier said and she yelled at him for telling me I could get store credit or exchange it for other items in the store. I was so frustrated and angry. Sthe told me to call corporate office. So far, no result. This can't be legal. I will never shop there again!
workers treatment of paying customers
I was just at the Family Dollar located on Pratt St in Mount Clare Junction and was completely insulted by a worker. A colored male worker was mopping the floors as I was shopping with my children and other shoppers were walking over the floors as well. I was the only person to be singled out as I was the only white person in the store. The employee screamed at me "Exscuse me! Did you not see the damn wet floor sign?!" I said I had not seen them and stepped over to a dry patch. He then screamed, "Are you serious, THIS ISLE IS CLOSED!" Then proceeds to follow me around the store giving me dirty looks. Every person in the store heard him yelling at me even though he was only a few feet from where I was standing. So of course everyone was staring at me like I stole something! My children even heard it from 3 isles away. My husband was already accused of stealing by the same employee some time back. So my family will no longer be shopping at Family Dollar locations if this is the way that we get treated! I was completely embarrassed and it felt like a racial thing because there were other colored women walking in the same isles and nothing was said to them. The floors that the man was so adamant about being stepped on were not even mopped properly to begin with and there were no signs saying the isles were closed, just that the floors were wet. I am going to be contacting my lawyer in the morning to see what I can do to ensure that this employee is dealt with.

Well, I been complaining about the managers at the store receiving phone calls from a man to but their nasty body fluids on my food & products. I notice that everytime I come in the store the food it seemed closed but when you hear the managers talking what items they spit in right in face it makes you want to throw the item in their face. I ask them did you just say you spat in my item of course they denied it. I guess all my report go the the manager of the local store because they still at it. The camera was turned off the rebooted to make it appear like they were doing their job. I also have to hear other people talking about them spitting in my products to might be the reason business is very slow opening up people thing concealing back like its nothing wrong and argue with you whenever you do a return I want my money back not a gift card. Next I'm going to the police this a criminal offense this been happening over a period of time I'm sure I should have hard evidence on how I tried to resolve this without the police but i t became a habit for them. Today, October 14, 2018 is Customer Appreciation Day at the Dollar Store. Both myself and my husband are senior citizens and living on a fixed income.
I have been shopping at the Dollar Store for 20 years at the Dollar Stores in various states that I have lived or visited.
When I visited the Dollar Tree Store #5287, today, located at 700 South Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577, I saw a SIGN sitting on a Table nicely set up, advertising a promotion of 10% Off OFF TODAY for CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY on all purchases of $10 or more. I had 53 items in my cart which would total $53.00.
I spent at least an hour in the Store getting items in order to take advantage of the 10% discount. When the Cashier rang up my items and totaled everything I asked her whether she took off the 10% discount, she hesitated at first, looked at me and said, where is your 10% coupon? I had no idea that I needed a coupon. NO WHERE ON THE SIGN DID IT STATE THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE A 10% DISCOUNT COUPON! THAT IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!
Then the Assistant Store Manager, KAREN, said that there is nothing that she can do. There were also lots of balloons on the table where the poster was sitting, that said, "YOU'RE SO SPECIAL" . I asked her how "SPECIAL" could I be, when she refused to give me the discount, and treated me "like dirt". I had no idea that I needed a coupon, BECAUSE NO WHERE ON THE SIGN DID IT STATE THAT I NEEDED A COUPON TO GET THE 10% DISCOUNT!"
I have been a loyal customer of the Dollar Store for 20 years, and to be treated like this is VERY DEMEANING and CONDESCENDING! I truly felt that I was being discriminated against.
I am attaching several photos taken at the Dollar Store of the Table that was set up at the front of the Store.
I will be most appreciative, If you will review my case and refund me a check for the 10% Customer Appreciation Discount of $5.30, mailed to my below address. Or a Credit will be acceptable also, because I will continue to shop at the Dollar Store.
My husband and I will continue to shop at the Dollar Store because it is mine and my husband's favorite store at which to shop. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE DOLLAR STORE!

digital coupons not being taken off my purchases;
This is the 3rd or 4th time that my digital coupons have not been applied to my purchases. The cashier(s) seem to have no idea why. It's at least $20 in coupons that I have missed out on when I have clipped them and shown them in my clipped coupons to the cashier(s). Still they can't seem to understand as to why. What is going to be done to make this right with me as a returning frequent customer?

The employee at 1120 red bank rd goose creek SC goes by the name Janine is lazy, rude and very unprofessional. She has non work related injuries that affect the way she works. She has brought her grandson to work several times and sometimes allows him to lay behind the counter while she works her night shift with a sleeping bag and pillow. Also her doctor recently told her to stay off her feet due to one of her veins in her leg rupturing but she disobeyed orders. All she does is sit behind the register on a ladder and doesn't do any work. Also she is always on her personal phone at the register. She gets rude with customers. Many customers have complained to the store manager, however no one has yet to look into the matter.

At the wellsville, OH location the woman working at 12:15 on 10/09/2018 refused my service because I came to pay in change for one item. It was $4.29 for a bag of diapers. She claimed it was her choice she didn't have to take it. But I did not see anything where it said there was any rights to refuse service. I then went back in with a $5.29 and purchased the diapers and told her I would be contacting her corporate office.

I went into the store today with my 6 year old daughter, and when I was ready to pay for my stuff, the cashier by the name of Kristina asked my daughter if she walked in with a headband on... yes! She did I just picked her up from school, you can check your cameras too cause I don't have to or need to steal anything... that's the whole purpose of why I was already paying for my things... there was no need to even ask that question to my six year old... spoke to the manager by the name of Frank, and all he said is she had rights to say that... but only targeted us while there is a lot of other girls in the store with hair things... I will NOT EVER be at your store again you have lost my business... and I will let my friends, and family know as well...

I went into the family dollar store on saturday to return a product that. Was defected. I was told to find the manager. I did locate her & told her that I purchased the product 2 days ago from the watkinsville store.
She told me I broke it without even looking at it. Said it was not broken when you bought it. She told me she had no patience to deal with me that day. I asked her for her name. She said her name was veronica & to get the hell out of her store in front of all her customers. She was even coming towards me & I feared she was going to attack me. I am an elderly person & disabled
I have been in sales for over 45yrs & I have never treated a paying customers with such disrespect & embarrassment. Especially the elderly & disabled.
I will never buy another product from family dollar stores. If this is the kind of employees/managers that you are. Now hiring. I feel sorry for the elderly & the disabled people getting mistreated.

store policy
I shop at family dollar all the time. I went in tonight to the one in demotte Indiana, my total was $23.78 when I went to pay with a 50.00 which was all I had I was told I had to spend at least $35.00 to pay with a $50.00. If that's the case then signs need to be put up before you walk in. You just lost my and my families business. I will be sure to get the new "rule" of your stores out there so other people don't go In there.
They must have running very low on change considering it's the weekend and banks are closed.
store clutter/ dirty/ smells/ rude worker
Store was cluttered with boxes and carts full of stuff all over store..milk cooler smells like rotten milk.. Floors are nasty ..one lady name candy was rude to 3 different customers.and I watched her for 10 min walk around and do nothing but talk on her phone.. I felt so sorry for one worker in there bc she was stocking the food and running the register ..only one I seen that was even trying to do anything .. Don't know her name but she was young kinda skinny girl very helpful ..my opinion need to hire some more workers like her
damaged and expired eggs
I bought a dozen of eggs just last week. I decided to make meatballs on Saturday open up the egg to find that two had been broken and the egg whites spilled over onto the other eggs making them stick to the egg container. Making the product unacceptable to use. I was so pissed off I had put my hamburger back in the fridge run to Family Dollar in Cohoes N Y. I bring the broke eggs to the manager who was very rude and told me she could not take back the eggs without a receipt. Then accused me of breaking the eggs myself and say how did I know you even bought them here like I stole them from the store. Then I really got pissed off. I was going call the police but I said so I'm have to eat 3 dollars. Look at these broken eggs I bought here I work two jobs so I can eat. This is the second time I have had a problem in this store. The last time I tried to return soda bottle that I bought from the same store. Just to be told they don't do bottle return. So I called up the regional manager and filed a complain about it. Cause if they take the money for a bottle return they need to be able to give you back your money you spent at the store. So I had to fight it again and got my money back for the soda bottle I bought there. This is the worst customer service ever. I'm never going to shop at Family Dollar again. I'm so done.
I always check the exp date and the condition of eggs that I'm ringing up for a customer without even thinking about it. It should be a set practice for all associates but its not something your trained on. Just common sense I thought..
manager at buffalo tx store
The manager named April is rude and never greets customers when they enter the store. Twice when I have went when the store is supposed to be open they are late opening and she is the manager that is there. She has very bad customer relation skills. She is always on her phone or talking to people that are obviously her kids. She doesn't seem to care about the store at all
clerk at kanab family dollar/the mess and disaster problem
First of all, the family dollar in Kanab is very cluttered with product in the isles, but when I go in I usually spend a hundred dollars or more, so that being said I was very distressed about what happened today October 5, 2018 : I went in and bought some halloween decor, two pairs of sunglasses and and a scarf. I did not get home with the sunglasses, I went back and told the clerk, he said he had put it in my bag and it's probably still in there, I assured him it wasn't and to please look around the counter, he would not and just ignored me and went about his business (which was nothing I assume) I really would like The Family Dollar in Kanab to be cleaned and organized, so when something doesn't get in the bag, the clerks can find them for the customer and I would like the two pairs of glasses that I purchased.

employees and how dirty it is
I don't know what has happened in the last few months but this store has gotten some rude employees and the outside of the building has had the same trash sitting around the building for weeks now and the inside is so nasty also. It's a shame because this location has been one of my favorites but I won't even do business there any more due to the employees.
bad manager services
I go daily to Dollar General I spend money all of a sudden there's a policy she's saying that we can't take our purses in the store that we got to leave him in the car I walk there all the time so I take my purse all the time I have no car to put my purse in so I had to leave the store I have all my receipts that I spend money there I think she just had a bad experience when I used to work with her at Walmart I don't know who takes care of these things but she ain't a good manager I hope they talk to her about this because things will never get settled I used to be a customer service manager at Walmart for many years and that isn't a way to do customer service in fact I trained her a little bit when she started working at Walmart I got to carry my medications with me so I have to take my purse with me I have sugar diabetes think Mike sugar might get low all of a sudden so I got to take my stuff with me I don't know how you take care of this but that was a bad policy if that is a policy but I couldn't take my purse in the store and it wasn't even that big I showed her what was in my purse

The manager is rude they never open 2 cash register's it was 20 people in line & the manger shut down the cash register he was working so that left only 1 register open I asked him why was he shutting down his register he said it was too many people in line. This is a major issue with this store people walk in/out when they see how long the wait is.

I left my phone at the register. The meaning behind me picked it up and ask who's it was no one said anything so the cashier and manager let him have it. Instead of taking it from him 20 minutes I came back and it was stolen. She check the cameras and she told me that he sold it to someone else in the store. They let him steal my phone and tell it to someone while in their store. This is not the first incident that I've had with them and I've been a customer for many years. Something needs to be done about this store specifically.
