ongoing problem with trouble code p0171
We have a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic with 73400 miles (1G1JC5SH4D4126560) with an ongoing Trouble Code (PO171) that has been turning on the Check Engine Light. We have had it into the Chevrolet Dealership (Wes Haney Chevrolet of Live Oak, Fl. 32064) at lest 4 times now. First time they Flushed and Cleaned the entire fuel system( costing us $260.00 +) Second thru the 4th time they ran a Diagnostic Test and found that the Mass Air Flow sensor with bad(replaced it). That same day it was replaced the check engine light comes back on again(found out that the New Sensor was defective(Replaced it). Was ok for a day or two and the check engine light comes on again. (We are not blaming the Dealer for Anything.) They seem at odds at what the problem is. The check engine light stays on for a period of time and goes off. Then a day later or so it comes back on again. Now in the Morning when the engine is cold the engine speed surges up and down until it warms up and settles d.own to normal. The Wife and I are on a Fixed income (being that we are both RETIRED.) We have spent at least $700.00 + on this problem and its STILL not Resolved. I feel we should not have to spend too much more to get this taken care of. Any HELP you can give will be GREATLY APPRECIATED. I've owned Chevrolet's my whole life(and will BUY another one if needed in the future ) Thank You. You can contact me at my cell phone [protected]. Richard Stewart of Jennings, Florida 32053. Again we aren't blaming the Dealership
paramus chevrolet
On March 14, 2018 we went to Paramus Chevrolet. We were greeted by Mike K who was very friendly. We told him what we were looking to do, which was to trade in our 2016 jeep Patriot and lease 2 vehicles, one being a pick up and the other a small SUV.
We had the paperwork for a Family Discount with GM which we thought was for 2 cars, the dealership told us it was only for 1. This was given to us from my cousin works the Company, and I am a volunteer firefighter as well. I had the figure for the pay off left on the Jeep so we had a rough idea of what we could get for it. Mike came up with some figures for a Chevy Colorado, and a Trax. My wife and I were very happy. It was within our budget. We gave them a $3000.00 deposit that evening, and signed all the paperwork. We made an appointment to pick up the cars the next day. Mike did say that they could not check our credit that evening, however they could check it in the morning, the prices given were based on a Tear 1 credit., which we learned was in the 700's. My wife said the her credit was in mid 600's and that mine was in the low 700's, based on credit karma. Mike then said that he would be sending me some emails indicating what needed to be done before we come back the next day to pick up the cars. That was to insure the cars with the finance companies, and bring in the verification of insurance for both vehicles, and to get the pay off letter for the jeep we were trading. We did everything they asked and came in for our 2:30PM appointment the next day to pick up the cars. Thats when all the trouble started. When we arrived at the dealership they brought us into the finance department to go over the terms and conditions. At that time they also told us that in order to get the vehicles it was going to cost us $100.00 more per month as our credit is not where it needs to be in order to get that deal. "Tear 1" As you can imagine we both got very upset. At that point we told them no deal, that we could not pay an additional 100.00 per month. We were ready to walk out. Then John the finance person said let me talk to my manager and see what he could do. About 10 minutes later this other person ( a big guy, I don't remember his name) came in. I voiced my frustrations perhaps louder then I should of, we had some words I then I tried to apologize, but this guy did not want to accept my apology. We got up and were ready to leave and asked for our deposit back, that's when the "big guy" told us the charge would be returned to our credit card. That's also when he called my wife a liar, stating that she lied about our credit, and that Credit Karma is not good. Then Anthony, one of the managers who happened to be hearing all of this going on stepped in. He was not even working at the time. He managed to get us the rate which was only a total of $20.00 more for both cars. The only reason we left the dealership with 2 cars was because of Anthony defusing a bad situation and making things happen, going the extra mile. Today as I'm writing this letter we finally received the information from the TFCU (Teacher federal credit union) with our account number and payment information for the Colorado, They also sent us a letter with my credit score, indicating that it is at (738). My wife's car is financed through GM. About 2 weeks later I received a message that my plates were in and I would come and pick them up. I went there to pick them up and they were just handed to me, no one offered to even put them on my vehicle for me. A few days later my wife was called and told her plates were in and she went there and picked them up, Mike the salesman was there and put them on the car for her.
A week later we get yet another phone call from the dealership telling me I needed to come back in and re-sign the paperwork for the TFCU Loan as the mileage allowance on the paperwork was incorrect. So I went there and signed the corrected contract.
I have never had such a hard time purchasing or leasing a vehicle in my whole life. I was a customer of Ford for over 15 years, I then purchased a Jeep. I was always treated with respect and great customer service. I figured lets give Chevrolet a try as our daughter has an Equinox and is very happy with it.
There are many Chevy dealerships in our area, we choose Paramus as the are the closest to our home. I no longer feel comfortable even going there.
We really DO NOT want to go back to that dealership for any reason what so ever. We would like to have our cars serviced at a different dealership and we would like to return our cars to a different dealership when our lease is up, in the area, and there are a few to say the least. We would also like to have the $400.00 disposition fee waived for each vehicle so we may return the cars when the lease is up without penalty.
Sincerely,
Paul N Buehler

2014 cadillac xts
I am the original owner of this vehicle and it now has 72, 000. miles . in the past 8 months this car has turned into a money pit. I have had to replace both rear air shocks, both rear wheel bearings because of some sensor built into them for the ABS brakes, Power steering, and traction control. I now have rear suspension problems and it goes to the shop every other week. They cannot find anything wrong with it when it is there. Well I come home and the rear has no air and the back end is rubbing on the tires. Which by the way we are on the 3rd set of tires at 70, 000. miles. I am so disappointed in this car for the price of them. I tell every one who asks about my car Do Not Buy One. My husband retired from GM after 44 years and we are seriously thinking of going to something besides a GM product. We have always supported GM but things are not getting any better with the products. If you google this problem everyone is having the same problem then this is a GM problem and they need to step up and fix these cars not expect the consumer to pay pay pay. I feel that GM should pay to fix my car not me. They have major problem with the rear air suspension as you can see. Please respond to my complaint at [protected]@hotmail.com. Thank you . Pennie
2019 equinox lt 1.5
First of all I think the car has way too much road noise - I think the Michelin premier LTX tires could be part of the problem - I've done some searching on the Michelin tires and the ones that are on my car are not that good - I found that the Michelin defender LTX/M/S is a better tire and is said to be quiet. I would like to know if there is a possibility of having a set of the Defenders installed at no cost.
Now for what I find to be a problem that I can't believe GM hasn't heard about or if they have why hasn't it been considered a re-call item. Scenario: Lets say I'm going around 40 -45 mph and let off the gas and let the car work its way down to lets say somewhere in the 30 mph range -around this time a groaning noise is heard and is very annoying - if you give the car a little gas it will cease. This happens often when driving in stop and go traffic at different speeds. I'm surprised GM could be unaware of this problem. I test drove another Equinox and found it to be somewhat of the same. I've tried to accept this as this is normal but it can't be and I can't believe GM hasn't received a lot of inquiries about this situation. With both of my complaints I find my driving in not enjoyable as it should be. Thank you for hearing me out and hope that GM looks into this problem -s
Hope this can be solved
2014 chevrolet corvette z-51 lt-3 convertible - manual transmission issues
I purchased subject car in June 2014 from Kerbeck Chevrolet in Atlantic City, NJ.
From the very beginning I experience "notching" or poor synchronization issues with the manual transmission when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. All other gears are fine. Since my original purchase I have spent countless hours visiting countless dealers including Kerbeck Chevrolet, who by the way were of absolutely no help at all! All I ended up getting from the Sales and Service Mgr. was lip service. I finally contacted the Tremec, the Transmission Manufacturer in Detroit and based on my description I was informed that I was experiencing a synchronization issue. I passed this information on to Mr. Jeff Stausser, QC Manager in Warrent, MI who ended up delegating this problem to an apprentice! In 2015 I moved to Richmond, VA and took the car to Haley Chevrolet, Midlothian. The Service Mgr there found a bulletin and based on that bulletin a minor adjustment was done to shifter linkage located directly underneath the shifter stick. This helped some, but did not remedy the sitatuation. After the adjustment was completed, and still experiencing the same problem I revisited Haley Chevrolet and insisted to see a region GM Representative. A meeting was arranged and once a met with a Kevin Berry and tried to turn over the keys so that he could drive the car himself, his response was "I don't drive standard shift cars". This meeting turned out to be a total waste of my time. Originally I was told by various dealers that the described characteristic is normal or to be expeted when the transmission is cold. Well, with my transmission it happens all the time, both hot and cold! One Service Mgr. at one of the dealerships I took the car to indicated that I shift too fast! For the record over the years I owned a C-3 and C5 Corvette, both with Manual Transmission, which never locked up or notched when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Also, I contacted the folks at the Ron Fellows Racetrack, and the chief mechanic confirmed that they too experienced the same problem with a number of vehicles. This gentleman also confirmed that they were not able to remedy this issue on most 2014 Corvettes but not all!
Other than the shift issue, which really takes the fun out of driving this otherwise awsome vehicle, I am still in awe on how this car handles and performs as compared to my C5.
Where do we go from here? I sincerely hope I don't have to resort to having to hire a lawyer in order to remedy this issue.

misleading pricing with discounts. showing preference to new customers over loyal customers.
I have been a gm customer for years. I have a 2013 equinox and had many gm cars prior to that. While waiting on my car to be serviced I browsed through the car lot and found a car that I loved. The sticker listed original price then advertised discounts. This then was affordable for me.in doing a little more research I read that if you financed through gmac then if qualified you could get interest free financing. The next day I decided to buy this car. The dealership then proceeds to tell me that I must have a non gm car to qualify for all of the discounts. What? You reward new customers but not loyal customers? That is not right. You might win a few new customers but you will lose many more. On top of that you cannot have both 0% financing and discounts. What a con. So, I will do my research and find a comparable suv from a competitor, as I am sure they are offering similar discounts. I will not be a gm customer from this point on. You and coyle should be sued for false advertising.
2014 equinox
The front wiper transmission failed on my wife's 2014 Equinox during a rainstorm recently. Fortunately, she did not get in an accident but easily could have. Her car had 66, 000 miles on it. The same thing happened to my 2011 Equinox in January 2015 at 48, 000 miles. Back then it cost me $276 to get fixed. I would guess this repair will cost more than $300 this time. We've purchased or leased 14 brand new Chevy vehicles in my immediate family. I called West Herr Chevy in Hamburg, NY, where we bought the majority of thes cars, and the best they could was offer to send in the receipt to GM after the work is done with no guarantee. Can you agree to reimburse me before I get it fixed? My phone number is [protected] and email: [protected]@verizon.net.
Thank you!
Please expedite as this is a dangerous situation.
Thank you!
gmc sierra 2014 a/c problems
The air conditioning quit working. I asked around to my friends who also own the same truck and all three people I spoke with about my problem had the same thing happen to them and believe it is a defect. one friend has had to replace his condenser 2 times in the past 2 years. I took my truck to the dealer to have it looked at and was told that the condensers are on back order as there have been so many complaints.
2015 chevy truck 2500hd diesel with 70k miles
The Diesel Exhaust Fluid "DEF" is out of order and is allowing my truck to go a maximum of 55 mph and in a few more miles it will go down even further! The Chevy dealer in my area is Simpson Chevrolet in Irvine, Calif. They tell me it is either the pressure sensor or the temperature sensor, (and possibly the DEF tank!) another big expense for me! I had to replace the complete wire harness just seven months ago, because of a sensor problem and had to pay $1500.00! I have noticed on line the many complaints other GM diesel owners are having with their DEF systems. Can you please help me, I am retired and on a very limited budget. gm commercials
Why are you not checking your commercials, I hate GM showing our beautiful cars and the tires are going backwards instead of forward, Part of the commercial they are going the right way and half they are going the wrong direction, I see this and it is very upsetting to me, and I am sure other people are noticing it too, GM is not the only car company that is doing this but you should make the correction. Thank you a GM retired employee and and auditor for GM
2017 chevrolet colorado duramax diesel-motor blown
On Friday, April 12th I was driving home from Texas. I lost all power and heard a loud noise. I had my truck towed back to Chandler, OK to my dealership. I was just notified by my dealership the motor is blown. The truck has 73, 000 miles on it. The warranty for the truck expired at 60, 000 miles. How is this possible? How can you make a product and not stand behind your work? I still owe on my truck and need an additional $10, 000 for an engine. I have no means of transportation at this point to get to work.
2012 chevy cruze
I have a 2012 chevy cruze, and only at 59, 744 miles on it, and my transmission went. The car being 7 years old, is no longer under warrantee, therefore i'm facing this humungous repair bill on my own, which I will need to take a loan out to pay for, as I do not have that kind of money, i'm a single parent! The quote I received from the dealership where I purchased the car is $ 6400.00 for the repair, my car isn't even worth that much, according to blue book value, but I have no choice but to fix it because I cannot sell it or trade it with the transmission being bad. This is so horrible, and totally unacceptable! When I purchased this car in 2012, there were no bad reviews, but now when you look at the reviews, almost every single year of the chevy cruze have reports of transmissions going bad, at low mileage and being out of warrantee. I do not understand why there wasn't a recall to have them repaired/replaced with new transmissions, number 1, and number 2 paid for by gm? C'mon gm, I thought you stood by your cars/products? And what about the loyalty of your customers? Funny, they're only there when they're taking your money, not when u need help... That's really terrible, and I think a very bad way to do business!
I have a 2012 chevy cruze, which I purchased brand new in 2012, now being 7 years old, it's no longer under warrantee, and only being at 59, 744 miles, i'm facing a huge repair bill to be eaten by myself! No help from dealer or gm! My transmission went splodie, caput, toast! I cannot drive the car because it won't shift automatically from first gear and will not go in reverse at all. I couldn't even take it to the dealer or the garage because u can't drive it more than 20 mph. I got a quote on the repair from the dealer where I purchased it of $ 6400.00 i'm going to have to take out a loan just to get it repaired, and I have no choice but to get it fixed because I can't see it or trade it the way it is because it's worth nothing the way it is. My car isn't even worth 6400.00 according to the blue book value! Real nice, huh? Wtf?!? How does this happen at 59, 744 miles? And not to mention, nobody offering anything to me to compensate me or help me here, i'm totally screwed and on my own! Thanx gm, for standing behind your product/cars. (they're nice when they're taking your money though, but when u need them, 4get it people!) I googled the chevy cruze when I was buying it back in 2012, there were no reported issues, but now u google it, it's all transmissions going bad at low mileage, and out of warrantee, shocking! They should have been recalled and fixed by gm! And they weren't! Bad, bad business!
chevy malibu 2011
On Friday, April 12 the car just stopped working. We had it towed to a repair shop and they indicated we needed a new engine.
We were told the timing belt wore out, the tensioner broke off causing catastrophic engine damage.
The car is only 8 years old, we are very upset over this, we were planning on keeping the car for a long time, it will be $5900 for a rebuilt or $6600 for a new one. We cannot afford to do this.
Sincerely,
Mary Donaghue
premature tire wear
I bought a 2018 GMC Acadia for my wife just over a year ago. It has 18" tires on it, and I was told by my dealer that it is in need of new tires already. It only has 23, 000 miles on it. I'm highly disappointed by the quality of tires that are put on from the factory. You would think GMC would put better quality items on their new vehicles. I have bought multiple NEW GM vehicles over the years, and have never had this problem before. It's funny how the price of these new vehicles keeps going up, but the parts they put on them are poor quality. This is our family SUV, and it's disturbing to me that GM would cut corners by putting these tires on their new vehicles. I thought GM products were better than this!
2015 chevrolet silverado 1500
Sudden loss of brakes while slow speed maneuvers such as turning and parking. Brakes either become very hard to depress or depress to floor will not stop vehicle. Vehicle has perform this function in forward and reverse. Very dangerous! Chevrolet has a tsb out because it is a known issue but has yet to be recalled. Most likely due to the expense related to the repair. Please reference Chevrolet's technical service bulletin (pit5361B) for more information.
gmc acadia
My daughter bought this vehicle and immediately had to have it in the shop for repairs. Now the transmission has failed and the dealer is telling her it'll cost $4500 to continue driving a car that she still owes money on. She works for children's services and struggles, as many of us do, to stay current on bills. This is unacceptable. She bought the vehicle with faith that a professional auto manufacturer could produce a product that wasn't crap, but you have let her down. I know you probably don't care that your company can't deliver on an implied promise of professionalism, but I don't understand why you can't put a transmission in a vehicle that lasts more than 9 years.
There is a reason your company had to be bailed out, and apparently no one there has learned anything. Make this right.
Read the complaints on this site. Do you really think there is not an issue with your products and that you can just skate along producing inferior machines? Step up and take responsibility for your failures. It says I have to use 350 words to get any attention. I am not convinced it matters, but ...there.
fuel smell after fuel tanks are filled with gasoline.
My 2001 corvette vin number 1GYY22GX15106843 . Has a very bad fuel smell when the tank is filled. I contacted a GM dealer in Hudson Florida and was told that GM reviews these complaint on a case by case bases. The estimate to repair would be $ 2, 000.00. I need help this is due to a product defect . Please advise. There has been a class action lawsuit filled for the 2004 corvette. The 2001 has the same issue . The NTSB has also received complaints.
2019 at4 truck
One reason I purchased the AT4 truck was the surround camera option that you advertised. Never did you advertise that you had a 270 degree view that some trucks came with. Since I took the truck home before finding out that I had one of those and no camera mounted on the front grill. I just got word from the dealership that I can't add the front camera because the wirer harness will not have a place to plug in the front camera. Because of being around many kids under five years old, this was a selling point to me. The dealer ship didn't know that this was an option on the truck. I just happened to buy the one that didn't have a front camera. It is pretty sad to buy a 65$K truck with hard earned money and not get what I thought I was buying. I have been told also that the 270 degree option is gone-a mistake. I want to trade this in for what I thought I was buying. The truck on the floor had this with surround view on the sticker, just like my paper work had. It didn't tell you that the front camera was extra. I think this is very misleading and underhanded faults advertising. Check all your old adds when the first 2019came out! I am 65 years old and have been buying GM products for the past 50 years-about 12 brand new vehicles.
Thanks,
One very disappointed customer with GM, not the dealer ship-Alaska Sales and service.

collision repair
On 12-15-2018 my car was taken to Jerrys for a MVA collision repair. Week after week it was excuse after excuse as to why my car was not complete. On 3-14-2019, I was advised I could come pick up my vehicle. Upon arrival I noticed unacceptable work and even fraud as old parts were put back on that were charged to the bill as new. I took many photos advised...
Read full review of General Motorsfailed transmission at 139,000 miles!
I moved to Detroit in March 2014 with a 2001 Honda Accord that had never had any issues. I was highly encouraged to purchase American because of the nature of my work with automotive suppliers. After a bunch of research I determined that GM was the way to go and that a very reliable car with great reviews across the board would serve me well: a 2014 Buick Regal.
Brought my 2014 Buick Regal Premium II to Serra Buick GMC in Washington, MI during the week of April 1, 2019. I had originally purchased the car off their lot in March 2014. I have had every bit of service done there.
About a week prior to bringing it in I thought I heard a rumble coming from my engine. A couple of days later they said it was likely my spark plugs, because they couldn't replicate the issue, so they charged me 800 dollars for an oil leak, getting my summer tires put on, spark plug change, clean my brakes (for a grinding noise I felt and heard when I applied my brakes) and fuel injection cleaning. That's fine. I paid knowing my issue was fixed with my car.
The next day I drove my car off the lot and felt the rumble again and the grinding in the brakes.
They mis-diagnosed and planned to charge me for the brake issue (It is actually a caliper issue now) and the rumbling in my engine turns out to be a sign that my transmission is shot. They are wanting to charge me $5, 300 for a rebuilt transmission on a car that is only worth maybe $7-8, 000.
I work in Detroit in the automotive industry and I feel saying, at this point, I am never going to buy another GM but how this gets handles will be a determination of that.
Resolution: I think 139k miles on a 2014 car is totally unacceptable in todays manufacturing standards. I would either like substantial help with the cost of a new transmission or a very attractive trade in value for my continued loyalty.
I can provide paperwork for all work done on my car in the last 4-5 years to verify that I take very good care of my car. I think this a real manufacturing bust for GM and they should please accommodate me. I honestly don't have $5300 laying around for a new transmission and I drive for my job. I thought I picked a reliable manufacturer and it saddens me that I might need to look elsewhere... especially at a time that I am not financially in the market for another car.
Please reach out to me ASAP at either of the following:

Wanted to post an update... Dealership worked with Buick to provide me GM Assistance.
Got a complete transmission overhaul done at dealership with all new OEM parts and labor.
GM Assistance paid for all labor and my $5, 300 bill for this job was cut to $1, 200!
Great way to reach out AND get a response from the OEM is post your story to their Facebook page. They reached out to me within 12 hours of my original post and started helping me right away. They earned my loyalty that's for sure!
First off.. a great way to reach out AND get a response from the OEM is post your whole story to their Facebook page. They reached out to me within 12 hours of my original post and started helping me right away. They earned my loyalty that's for sure! Dealership worked with Buick to provide me GM Assistance (Basically them paying a small to large portion of the bill depending on your situation). In my situation they agreed that a transmission, on a car so well maintained by the dealership, should not have failed at 139k miles. Got a complete transmission overhaul done at dealership with all new OEM parts and labor. GM Assistance paid for all labor and my $5, 300 bill for this job was cut to $1, 200! If you own a Buick then post your story on the Buick Facebook page! You won't regret it... assuming your story is legit and not your fault.
