hotel booking at novotel darwin airport
I booked online for this hotel for 2 nights at A$269.70, but was also asked to pay "Total recovery charges & service fees" of A$114.85 that I paid unwisely. The booking was made (inadvertently) through getaroom.com when I thought I was contacting the hotel directly. This is a scam. I have found this out by phoning the hotel directly. Others, please be warned.

I have many complains about the reservation.
1. I request Fiesta Inn hotel in Veracruz not in México City and you can listen in the recorded conversation that I want a room with a view to the sea.
2. I want to cancel the reservation because I am not travelling to México.
I have attached the conversation recorded and it is clearly stated that the reservation was refundable with no penalties. Therefore I would like you please listen the conversation with your agent and let me know your kindly answer.
Also you told me that if I cancel on september the 3rd I wll have a penalty of the total value which is USD 398.15 and if I pay after the november 19th I will have to pay one nigth which is more than USD 110 which is not logical.
The reservation was made on september the 4th, 2019, therefore how it is posible that the policy cancelation says that if I cancel on september the 3rd, 2019 I have to pay the full value ot the reservation.
I am attaching the capture of the email sent on september the 4th.
All of this missunderstanding is because a mistake of the lady writting the dates of the cancellation and also the hotel and the city.
3. If you listen the conversation recorded, your agent said that there was no fee for cancelation except if I do it after november the 19th.
I will wait your answer because it is not rigth that a company like yours act different.
I hope that we come for the best solution and you give me back the money you charge me which is USD 398.15.

hotel switch and double charge
I attempted to make reservations for one hotel in Texas. The site switched to a different location. I did not see this and made 2 separate reservations and paid. When I realized the error caused by the site changing the hotel I called and attempted to correct the mistake. Instead I was told I could cancel but still pay for the reservations and make new reservation for correct hotel I noticed on BBB others faced this which I believe is a fraud and scam. Being a senior citizen I will be pursuing this in the state of Texas and other places if I do not hear back from them. On hold now trying to speak with a person so far 19 minutes.

I called to book a wheelchair accessible room and was told that it was. It wasn't I could not bathe for 2 days and my husband had to pick me up and take me to the toilet as my wheelchair did not fit to the door. When I went to the front desk they tried to get me a room but were sold out. And no one was checking out. I didn't have the number on hand to call and since being back was sick with laryngitis couldn't call you to complain. I have been on the phone for almost 2 hours and all u got was 29% refund. That is disgusting it is a form of racism and is unacceptable I will be filing a former complaint with better business bureau and google. How would you feel if it were yourself or your child. I depend on people to help me and was disappointed that you were not able to do that. Terrible customer service on your part.

room reservation and cancelation
9/7/2019- I proceeded to make an online reservation- initial reservation did not go through saying there was a problem with the credit card- I reentered the credit card and got the same message. I went back and re-registered re-entering the same credit card and the reservation went through. Later I found that there were 2 reservation confirmations. I immediately called getaroom and was told I needed to call the hotel. I called the hotel and was told I needed to call getaroom. I've been calling getaroom since 9/7 at least 6 times and are put on hold for extended times. Initially I was told that the Graduate hotel denied a refund. I called and spoke with the General Manager Kevin Kline 662-234-3031 x 501, who informed me that he would be happy to give me a full refund with no penalty but I need to call GOTA and let them know. Mr Kline also informed me that no-one from getaroom ever spoke with him about my situation and he never denied a refund. There were many calls and emails placed since this and I received the same information- the hotel declined the refund. Again I spoke with Kevin Kline who informed me that he spoke with your representative and informed them he did refund the room graduate Hotel ticket number 77207SB069726 and I should get a refund from getaroom. As of today I do not have this refunded and I called again to hear the same story- your hotel representative (who already had a conversation with the General Manager on 9/11 or 9/12) said they were not able to get in touch with him today and will have to call back. I asked to speak with a manager and was put on indefinite hold! Please credit my account with the full refund.

Booked a hotel reservation. When receiving the reservation confirmation, noticed wrong hotel, quoted rate was wrong, and excessive fee and add on charges. Cancelled the reservation. (This is 90 days out.) The cancellation acknowledged the reservation was cancelled, also stated that their policy was NO REFUND. This booking site is totally mis-leading. No where do they inform that reservations are not refundable if cancelled in a reasonable time frame (90 Days before use is reasonable). No where do they state that they are a third party booking site and not a proper agent authorized by the hotel to make reservations.
Their customer service is poor, long phone wait times.
I am left pursuing a disputed charge ($1352.00) with my credit card company. I will NEVER use this service, GETAROOM.COM again.

misleading me to believe they were the hotel and not a third party renting a room
I thought I was booking my room at the Mariott Fairfield in Clermont, Fl. We had requested to no be near sairs, icemakers and pool. The person never mention the name of the business but I asked him about the rooms whether there was two beds in the room or one. He said I will have to go see and get back with you. Another person took the phone and sayed yes. We never wanted to give our credit card info to a third party either. On the site it said cancel at anytime and free breakfast. When we got our confirmation by email we saw getaroom and realized we had been taken advantage of. I instantly called back to cancel and get refunded and told them that they used deception to get a booking for their company. They refused to refund the money and now I have disputed this withh my Credit Union Iis GTEFCU Tampa, FlAlso their booking charges excedes the amount the hotel charged by 40 to 50 dollars and is not the bargain they said it would be. After the incident we called the direct number they gave us on the email reservation confirmation which i will attach to see if they had all the info we requested about the room and where we wanted it. The person at the Hotel did have the reservation but none of the requests that we had made. So we knew we had been lied to just to get a booking.

no room when I arrived 8/31/19 for reservations
Reservation #[protected] for 8/31/2019 to 9/02/2019 in orange beach, AL Hilton Garden inn. Upon arrival, I was informed by reservation had been cancelled that morning because they could not run the credit card on file. I explained that card was reported with fraud use and was no longer active. They had no rooms available. I was told I was not charged due to unable to process.
However, on the statement I have received I show YOU did charge my credit card on 8/20/2019 $988.98!@! Why didnt the hotel have the funds? Why were they trying to charge a card on 8/31/19 if you had paid them for my reservations? Also, how is it you had the new card information when I have not been called to give you this new card. The reservation was made 5/15/2019--- so how did you obtain my credit card number that was issued AFTER 5/15/2019?
I need my accout credited back - as my reservation my cancelled because YOU did not send the funds you took w/o authoriztion from my new card. I would like a prompt response to this issue. The $988.98 was charged on a card you were not given information to use and secondly, we had no reservations according to the hotel and had to scrounge around to find another place to stay during Labor Day Weekend - which is packed.

I would like an explanation for the extortionate charges that have come out of my account which I believe were deceptively obtained. I booked a room which should have cost £123.85. When I checked my bank statement £182.53 was taken from my account. This included £58.68 for "Tax recovery charges and service fees" which I have not used. The hotel also want an explanation!

exorbitantly excessive booking fees
Was shown a room rate of $69.95 with a "reserve now" button below, that's it, no other pricing listed on the page, I clicked and reserved it. Next appeared my charges: $119.97! for the room, taxes and their FEE! I would expect approx $12-$15 dollars in state and local hotel taxes added on so I was expecting to see a total of around $85. I immediately tried to cancel and low and behold...no cancellations, no refunds. Too bad, you fell for it! You lose! Will never ever use this company again. I'm back from my trip and while writing this complaint, Googled this company and have found nothing but bad reviews all with the same recurring theme, undisclosed, surprising and excessive booking fees with a no refund policy

I booked a room for a single night stay at a hotel in LA (Conf. # R1619164514). Believed I was getting the lowest price for the room on Getaroom.com. When you are booking the room at no time do they display that they will sting you at the end for a $50 "service fee" for a $200 room! They tap it on at the end at the bottom of the page. If you are not taking your time and paying very careful attention then you press to "Reserve" and when the confirmation email is sent through your charge is far higher than expected.
I was offered $20 refund. What is insightful is that the software system has this amount and subroutine already there. Which means they act on the basis that if there is a complaint some money back is better than none; and if no one notices, you get to keep the $50. This is both deplorable and not sure if its even legal.
This is fraudulent. No consumer in their right mind would accept to pay such a fee for a website service. They are misleading consumers and acting illegally.
I encourage any plaintiff's bar attorneys out there to take a look at the practices of this firm and equally to take a look at their practice. Just think, $50 per booking plus add-ons could make for a rather nice damage number. Worth investigating.

Booked via the internet through a site that did not indicate it was not Hilton. Straight to guest reservations. Site failed and booking non confirmed re-booked site confirmed. Two e-mials stating I had two bookings went through the automated cancelation system told reservation did not exist. Arrived at Hilton Garden Inn at Portsmouth with two reservations. Complained to front desk and then via phone to Getaroom provided all the contact details times of calls and confirmed on the e-mail. Tried ringing again they pick up and put the phone down. Hilton particularly unhelpful claiming it is a third party issue; however I was never given a second room they never incurred any cost and yet charge for the service. Getaroom just so bad but Hilton not a lot better.

I thought I was booking directly with the hotel but wasn't. I overpaid $100 for my room in fees from this company and their customer "care" is a joke. I tried to cancel my reservation when I realized the scam I had fallen into. Although my reservation did say no cancellations, I contacted the hotel directly and they said that as long as there was 24 hours notice, I could cancel (my reservation was 2 days away.) This company had to email their escalations department to try to accommodate my request to cancel. They responded ONE MONTH later stating that they were unsuccessful in cancelling my reservation because of the hotel's strict cancellation policy. ABSURD! We were desperately trying to get a room as we drove to Washington on 11th June
We called getaroom phone nos. The customer service suggested vriousboptions based on our requirements. We finally settled for one Wyndham 8 hotel where we stayed. However he forgot to cancel the earlier reservation which he had kept on hold for us. Eventually we got charged for that inspite of not staying and for no fault of ours. So kindly investigate and help us get a refund of that stay as it means a lot. It's not a small amount when finally converted to indian rupees. It's big money to just let go.

I called the phone number listed on the direct hotel webpage in order to make the reservations for a friend of my brothers that was arriving in town late that evening. At no time was I advised that I was dealing with Getaroom.com. The reason why I was calling in my reservations directly and not booking online is because I live locally and I wanted the best rate possible at Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Laguna Hills California.
When the guest showed up at the hotel reception they had no record of her reservations. After insisting that there was a reservation the clerk quoted a rate of $129 a night, which is the proper hotel rate, while getaroom.com was charging $201 per night plus other outrageous service fees. At this point we had been told that there would be a confirmation email which we never received. Miraculously two days after we reported the rip off scam we got an email confirmation from Getaroom.com. This email confirmation had never arrived before. Apparently Getaroom.com has the ability to backdate emails in order to scam their customers a little better.
We also never received a breakdown of what the charges were going to be. This miracle email did have a breakdown of charges since we had mentioned the lack of proper documentation.
The initial reservation was made for four nights (August 5th thru August 9, 2019) yet upon check-in we told the clerk that the guest would probably check out the following day. Indeed, the guest checked out August 6th 2019. Total stay - only 1 night, not 4.
The clerk at the front desk refused to close out the bill after one night but instead insisted that we hang onto the key to that room for the four nights so they could rip us off for $1018.15. This is absurd as there was no guest in that room any of the additional nights. I have no problem paying for the night that my guest was there but, I do have a problem having to pay for an additional three nights for a guest that was not taking up a room at the hotel. Getaroom.com refuses to charge me just one night as well as the hotel acts like they cannot close out my bill until Friday August 9, 2019 which makes my bill in the amount of $1081.15. At this very moment I am being ripped off and paying for a room that no one is using.
Another important point is that upon registration the hotel clerk never asked for any ID whatsoever or verification of credit card or any important document as the scam had already been processed.

WATCH OUT! I was deceived on Monday by get a room thinking that I was booking directly. I called 30 min after I realized what had happened and since than have spoken to them 4 times and I am still not able to get the cancellation. I have called the hotel and they do not have my reservation. The reply I keep getting is that they have sent an email and are waiting for a response and that the hotel will have my reservation 72 hours before my arrival, which is insane because I am not going to go all the way to Venice and risk not having a room

I booked a room through getaroom.com with Staybridge Suites in Mount Laurel. Upon arrival with my children there was no hotel reservation and I was forced to purchase a new room because the representative with getaroom.com refused to provide a ghost card to the front office manager to ensure I had a room. I was told I would receive a refund within 3-5 business days. When I called to follow up there was no record of my refund and now 3 days later I am being told I will not be refunded and I have paid gestation.com and the hotel. I signed a contract stating I would pay a certain amount to get a room.com and they were contractually obligated to ensure I had a reservation at the hotel. 4 days later I still am at a loss from my money I paid to the hotel and the money I paid getaroom.com. They have gotten me off the phone each stating they will send me a confirmation but I haven't received anything. I will also be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau.
It has been 3-5 business days since August 7, 2019 and I have not received my refund. It has also been 8 business days since I was originally told on August 2, 2019 I would receive my refund in 3-5 business days.
I am still at a deficit for the $624.09 which is too much money to lose on top of the $300 I had to pay to put my children in a room because you all did not up hold your end of the contract signed stating if you took my money you would ensure I had a room reserved at the Staybridge.
I am applauded at the disregard of taking a single working parents money without expeditiously returning what does not legally nor morally belong to you.
