HP Laptop HP 17t-by300 CTO

Do not waste your money with HP

I own an HP (HP Laptop - 17t-by300 CTO). Within a few months the laptop failed to charge properly and to maintain the charge (if any). I called their service dept and received help over the phone. Customer service reps are polite and patient, the problem here is not their customer service, they are very polite at telling you - you are screwed with their product. To me the problem is the product itself. It is garbage. After the not properly charging incident, it appeared the laptop did a little bit better with charging but it developed other problems. Called customer service again, they ran a test on the operating system (all this is done via phone, they tell me what to do and that is as far as the warranty will go. Don't expect top notch service. Its like calling your IT help desk) Last time I spoke with them HP passed the buck to the operating system and fed me some BS about how sometimes the rainbow and the solar system may interfere and affect my laptop. Needless to say, now everytime I see the HP logo, I cannot help it but relate them to crap. Do yourself a favor, buy an ASUS or ACER laptop, you will be less dissapointed with them than if you buy an HP. I just think it is unethical for HP to sell their garbage laptops, and all these reviews? I wonder if they do any good. Who knows, but this has been my experience with HP so far. I hope my bad judgement in buying from them, helps you search for a better product. Good luck in your search.

Desired outcome: I would like a replacement before I completely destroy the unit. The unit deserves to be shot and burned because it is nothing more than a paperweight. I would appreciate a refund of my money or a replacement.

Total spent $640.00 USD

I purchased this laptop at the end of 2020. I do not use it for games or anything heavy. I only used it for web surfing, checking e-mail, YouTube video watching from time to time. Within a few months while still under warranty, I received phone support for a battery issue. The battery failed to charge, or the charge received was exceptionally low. Since it was under warranty, I received phone support to trouble shoot it. After this trouble shoot, the battery did a little bit better than before. Weeks after this the computer started doing things automatically. It would not turn on and then eventually it would turn on after minutes. The computer also began getting sluggish and the screen would freeze. This time the on-line support could not solve the problem but did try to sell me additional warranty to keep having access to on-line tech support. HP stated that the issues I was having were highly likely due to a problem with the OS. Whatever that means. But never solved the problem.

The laptop from then on was a hit and miss. It would operate fine for a few weeks or months, then it would freeze or not turn on. But because this is no longer under warranty it is no longer HP’s issue. Also, it is super hard to get ahold of a person to request help, but HP has this virtual assistant that it really solves nothing. It appears as if HP makes it a challenge to get a real person to help you, so the caller just gives up.

I believe that the amount of money I paid for this laptop should have yielded a laptop that would last a few years rather than the on and off year and a half it lasted. The laptop soon after no help was received from HP started to affecting my health. It gave me high blood pressure due to the stress and frustration it caused. I have already slapped this majestic piece of garbage on the floor. Surprisingly, after I slap this thing against the floor, it worked a little bit better than before. But still is a solid piece of garbage. I would not recommend HP products to anyone. Looking at this laptop creates anger on me. I feel useless not having anyone to look out for me. I am just the consumer who purchases one unit every few years and HP knows they can take advantage of this. I am not a big corporation, a government agency or anyone placing a million-dollar order of their products. HP can easily kick me around and ignore me because I am the average Joe that may have 30 to 40 hours a week of work and with luck I may get some overtime, but that is it, I am a no-one and they can ignore me. That is not cool! I expected a lot more for a $640 laptop.

Every time I look at the computer, I get angry, I already smashed it once against the floor, next time I go to the shooting range, I am planning in use it as target and after I shoot it a few times, I am going to burn it. All this is anger because HP sold me their garbage and took advantage of me, and I have no recourse – I cannot make them make this right.

WHAT I WANT: I would like a refund or a replacement. Refund is better.

Resolved

Problem solved by HP. Thank you.

HP Provision of the driver for my printer

I need to install the HP printer (J4680) that I purchased in 2009 to my new computer. The HP website still lists the printer and says that the driver will automatically download from Windows, but it does not. HP will not provide the driver because they say it is out of warranty (144 day warranty) and wants $20 for technical assistance. I find that HP's lack of support for their products to be horrible. If they are not supporting it, then why is it still listed online? If their solution (that the driver would automatically download) is not working, then why should I be paying extra for them to work around what they told the world would work?

HP Incompetent Case Mgr, Consumer Escalations Dept, Case#[protected], refuses to let me talk with her Supervisor

HP is refusing to honor the warranty status of my 17" laptop! HP is negligent in placing defective batteries in their laptops. HP is negligent in repairing my 17" laptop: I sent my laptop for repair with 1 issue (January 2022), the battery was not charging; I received my laptop back with 3 issues (February 2022): 1. battery pack was hot, overheating, 2. F5 key (backlit keyboard light) was only staying on for 20 seconds 3. laptop was very s-l-o-w! Sent laptop in for re-repair! An HP repair Technician called me on March 22, 2022 and told me that my laptop "could not be repaired, laptop was still in warranty and HP would be sending me a brand new replacement (with same specifications and color)"! Now HP Consumer Escalations Dept is only "offering a $250 coupon to be used at HP website or a remanufactured unit replacement"! The Case Mgr is incompetent! I have asked multiple times to speak with/to her Supervisor, however, she refuses! I purchased my 17' laptop from QVC and will be contacting them and filing a complaint with them about HP, HP negligence if HP does not resolve this immediately!

Desired outcome: I want HP to honor what the HP Technician told me on March 22, 2022: that "my laptop could not be repaired, was still in warranty and that HP would be sending me a brand new replacement (same specifications and color)"!

HP HP Officejet Pro 9015e

We got this printer for our small business and specifically got it because it was rated to print at larger quantities and also take 90lb cardstock paper(which we don't use too often as it is, but it is essential for our packaging). A month in, it stops being able to properly print double-sided(most of the prints end up getting so offset they're impossible to use), and a couple of weeks later it stops being able to print on cardstock almost entirely. We've wasted so much paper trying to get this printer to work properly, went through all the cleaning cycled(we've had 2 hp printers before this and no issues like this). Now it can't even print a single page of any kind of paper. We tried contacting support about getting this resolved and getting a replacement or at least a refund- all of the sudden the chats are getting disconnected, and when we try to call, we're on the phone for hours getting transferred to other departments. The thing is, we had no issues whatsoever connecting to chat when we were interested in buying a product, but suddenly when we need help with a broken product, support is nowhere to be found.

Desired outcome: We'd like a replacement on this printer- we like hp printers and the quality, but the customer support, particularly for loyal customers, is extremely disappointing.

HP Billed for HP Instant Ink I didn’t get

I did not get ink cartridges for several months. I bought my own. I was in the middle of a move and did not have time to address the issue at the time. When I contacted customer service via chat they said I did not get cartridges because I was using “non HP instant ink” cartridges. I was on chat for 30 minutes 2 different times and became so frustrated I cancelled the service. About 2 weeks later I was billed again and received 2 cartridges in the mail which cannot be used because you have pay for the service for the cartridges to work.

HP HP OfficeJet 8025e Printer

On five occasions, I have attempted to get technical support regarding my 8025e printer. It will not allow me to scan to email.

A representative via chat controlled my screen to attempt to fix it and was unable to. He advised that my issue needed to be escalated to the Cloud Dept. He provided me with the case number: [protected].

I then spoke with Lester who attempted to connect me with the Cloud dept via a chat link he provided me. The chat link said "Instant Ink" when I told him the chat said Instant Ink and asked if it was the appropriate link, he told me they handle both.

Once that representative responded from that link, he told me they do not handle cloud chats and gave me a phone number, and stated that is the only way to speak to the cloud department. I asked him what the cloud department does and he disconnected the chat.

I then called the number he provided, which was not an official HP number, instead, it was a scam [protected]). I then reinitiated a chat and got Sheldon. He gave me the number for SALES and I have been on hold for 45 minutes so far.

This printer is still under warranty. HP customer service has failed to remedy this issue. Their wait times are excessive, their representatives are not knowledgeable and the frustration caused to the customer is ridiculous.

Desired outcome: I would like my printer's scanning function to work as it should or a new (NOT REFURBISHED) printer to be sent as a replacement. My printer is a little over a month old and was purchased brand new from a local retailer.

HP Desktops, printers, simplesave hdd.

2-20-22

Opened the desktop to see about adding a wireless card and upgrade the memory, memory was simple, motherboard has no place for adding any additional features.. what a POS. This desktop was a gift to me so that's that..

Printers, Oh I have nothing good to say about them from HP, every one that I have had has been a headache, Error messages, leaky cartridges, no Twain drivers for their "all in one" units, what good is it if you can't use the scan feature..

SimpleSave HDD Nice when it was new worked well, Backed up data to it just in case, you know.. time went by and started having trouble with it initializing when I connected it to my computers, and the poof the time limit fairy came home and shut off the drive.. Now I have years of data that is trapped by HP.. From what I can understand from the web is they have a built in timed obsolescence feature built into their HP Launcher.exe that is part of the drive... Oh and just so everyone who reads this knows, inside the drive the actual manufacture of the hard drive is Western Digital.. I would not think that they would let HP give them a black eye like this..

Desired outcome: I would like HP to tell me how to by pass the HP launcher.exe crap and get my data off this drive..

HP Ink 62xl black

I have an ink cartridge HP 62KL Black that brought before lock up so we would be able to work that has casued no end of trouble as the cartridge did not work in our printer when we replaced the used one last week! Thinking the printer was old we brought a new one which was not compatablie with our apple computer! Then yesterday after thinking why is the colour working we brought a new black ink and found out our printer works! great $60.01 has been waisted on an ink that did not work and clearly faulty.

I have rung all numbers for HP 8 times this morning for support with this no answers or hang up on!

I did get hold of a person "selling surprise" a person to answer the phone but not her department!

All I want is the ink replaced or my money back for an ink that did not work from HP!

Desired outcome: replacement ink or money credited

HP Rip off

I received an HP Stream computer as a birthday gift but didn't open it for about 3 weeks because of work and time contraint. I tried to change my search engine and other apps to my favorites, which I have always done on my computers, and I was able to do it just fine. I also was not able to hook up my "HP" printer to this laptop. I spent days reading articles that ay help me but I got nowhere, making myself nauseous and sick. I called HP on 2/16/22 to ask them why I couldn't change my search engine or hook up my printer, and I was told that the computer runs on Windows S which only runs Microsoft products. I was told that I could get tech help if I paid $14.99 per month or a one-time fee of $50-something. I was very angry about this. When I said I didn't agree, I was told by Milton, "Ok, have a good day." The whole thing is a slap in the face to customers. Also, I couldn't return the laptop because of Walmart's crooked returns policies. I now understand that Walmart, HP & Microsoft are in cahoots to rip customers off. Why? Are they all in such need of money that they can only get it ripping people off? Poor business practices, poor customer services, and no values. - Sincerely, angry customer

HP I purchased one of your HP ENVYS IN 2019 17 INCH

On 22/02/ 2019 i purchased an hp envy that cost me £1099.00 from Currys in Croydon. I haven't had it three years and so far i have had to have it repaired twice , at much cost to myself , so far its cost me £200.00 the first time as it crashed after an up date , and when i took it back to Currys after we were allowed after lockdown , they were so rude , i decided to take it to somewhere much better that i knew the man would be honest and not over charge me like curries wanted to do .

I have just had to have it repaired yet again after yet another update , this time costing me £335.00 so since i have had it it has been a real nuisance, and has cost me a total of £535 in repairs and its only 3 years and two months old.

This shouldnt happen with a new purchase .

The gentleman i took it to will also confer that this machine should not have been this much trouble or expense . Its an HPK 17 OPT ENVY . i HAVE THE RECEIPT and will be willing to send in a copy , and i also have the receipts for the work the nice gentleman at cro tech has done to it since ive had it .

The first time it crashed it needed the whole motherboard replaced, and the second time it crashed it caused a massive graphics issue that has cost me more than i wanted to pay to repair.

I thought i had done my research and decided that an hp would be the best machine for my purpose as i had had one before that lasted me about 10 years . I must say I am very disappointed to have had to pay out twice for this machine to be repaired in three years .

As stated i am willing to provide copies of the receipts .

Yours sincerely

Ms M Underwood

Desired outcome: Would like some compensation for the two repairs i have had to put this laptop in for as i already paid £1099, for it in feb 2019.

HP Customer service

HP’s customer support and overall transparency is severely wanting for a company of its size. I tried to buy a laptop from them but they rejected the payment because I used a card that was not issued in the US. I followed up for a week on email then eventually had to call them, and even after spending close to 2hrs on the phone with multiple reps, they only communicated with my bank to release the hold on the funds on my card several weeks later. Point is, don’t waste your time and money on HP. They clearly don’t need your business if you’re not from the US - they just don’t have the guts to actually post it on their website.

Desired outcome: They need to be honest about their policies

HP HP ENVY Photo 7855

Approximately 2 years ago, I purchased a HP printer HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer from BestBuy. I keep it at a second "seasonal home" in Jupiter, FL. We are away for 4 or even 6 months at a time. I returned in January and tried to use the printer. It failed. It sounded like it was printing but blank sheets were coming out. I checked the cartridge levels. They were low but had ink. I have a service plan with BestBuy and the "Geek Squad" person came to my home. He determined that my problem is caused by a lack of use, the ink dries in the printer and cannot be fixed. I bought a laser printer for a significantly hight price than an "Ink Jet" printer. HP printers should occassionally print a sheet of paper to prevent this. Instead, I had to spend almost $300 on a black & white laser jet printer. I bought a "Brother" printer.

Desired outcome: HP should prevent this by periodically self running a test page

HP faulty laptop and the warranty

i purchased a laptop in May 2021 and within days of buying there was issues, i got a blue screen black screen etc and i had purchased it on my friends Argos account and he was away i don't have family or transport and am disabled so i couldn't return it. I thought as i had warranty i would be able to get this resolved, i then had more health problems as i had a massive heart attack and was diagnosed with ms so with that going on i forgot about the laptop issues Then when i remembered i tried getting this resolved. I contacted the support, and it took so long to reply i thought I'd leave it for a another so i did and it took at least 10 mins between each reply then i tried again on 8 dec then again on 12 dec and then i finally managed to get to speak to someone and they have arranged for it to be repaired. I have sent the proof in from when it was bought and from when the faults started occurring and it was less than a week from buying it, that said even with the evidence i was told hp wouldn't be able to give me a new replacement only repair it, the laptop was £550 and i tried so many times to get it sorted and now it's the 7 month and it's just getting worse and worse and I'm afraid i am disgusted that is not acceptable cos even if i had managed to get it back to the shop it would have gone back to the manufacturer. I had used HP in my working life but after being told that they are only going to repair a laptop that was faulty from day one is disgusting. So now i have to have it taken and be without a laptop for 10 days while they fix a faulty laptop and not replacing it so that i am not in put me in further detriment. I paid a lot of money for this, and they can definitely afford to replace it. Which is what i want. i have added the evidence of what occurs and not only that when it changes to windows 11 its much worse, I reverted it back to windows 10 and it was even worse. I BELIEVE I DESERVE A REPLACEMENT NOT A REPAIR ON A PURCHASED FAULTY MACHINE AS THAT WILL JUST HAVE FURTHER ISSUES DOWN THE LINE AND TO PROTECT MYSELF ID HAVE TO PAY A WARRANTY AND BE EVEN MORE OUT OF POCKET i have added vids pictures and the bottom of laptop for the laptop details. All these issues started when bought and are getting worse every day now

Desired outcome: new replacement laptop

HP Order delivery service by FedEx

After a few hours, I checked the FedEx tracking # [protected], and they said they couldn't deliver it because no one was home, or business (?) was closed. HP HP Omen canceled but HP is playing games to keep our money

We ordered a gaming HP OMen 30L for $2, 500 as a christmas gift. It said a 2 week turnaround but after i completed the order it changed to Dec 29, 2022. Around the 27th or 28th another email changing it to Jan 5. I tried calling but each time I was on hold for over an hour and couldn't hold any longer. A few days later another email came moving ship date to Jan 10. After numerous attempts to reach hp by chat, email and phone, I had no choice but to wait until I could speak to someone. It took 3 hours and 45 mintues to reach a rep. She couldn't do much telling me it was ready to ship that day, but not what the website said plus it didn't matter at that point, I had been trying to reach them for weeks to cancel it. We found a comparable pc in stock at Best Buy and could not wait for a computer any longer. She got a supervisor on the phone who assured me we'll get all our money back and she will put the cancelation through in addition to a return to ship request in case it ships. An email confirming she subitted the return to shipper request arrived the next day on the 11th, and then Jan 12 we got an email saying the pc shipment is delayed again to Jan 18th. This seemed to be good news thinking it should speed up the cancelation and refund without any red tape. Two days later we get an email it shipped on Jan 14th . This can't be a mistake, they had plenty of time to stop this order and shipment, on top of telling us it was delayed another week anyway. They are playing games. I called Fedex today to see what's going on and they told me it's going to be here today and that HP never submitted a return to ship request. To add insult to injury HP actually put restrictions on the shipment, that nothing can be changed on the shipment or delivery. WTF? I filed a complaint with the attorney general and can't believe these companies are getting away with such unethical practices and incompetace. They clearly could have stopped this and did nothing. Now let's see what happens, while I am out $2, 500 and days upon days of stress and time wasted.

Desired outcome: Immediately return my $2,500 once I refuse the package with FedEx today
